WWE NXT
December 7th, 2010
Dayton, OH

I had given up watching NXT by now, but I've heard good stuff about this season, and it will have Danielson and Masters and Ziggler and ADR on this, so some of the matches might rule.

The rookies are:

-Derrick Bateman, Pro: Daniel Bryan
-Brodus Clay, Pro: Ted DiBiase
-Johnny Curtis, Pro: R-Truth
-Byron Saxton, Pro: Chris Masters
-Conor O'Brian, Pro: ADR
-Jacob Novak: Pro: Ziggler & Vickie

They get mic work. Curtis is horrible and bland. Clay tells us to marinade on the fact that he's bringing lemon juice and razorblades with him to this competition, and he's the next breakout star, and people in this ring have 2 options at this point for what they can do, and that's nothing, and like it. Saxton says he looks forward to building a bond with everyone. Novak is awful again. Bateman says today will live in infamy, and he is mantastic. Conor is horrible. HORRIBLE. ADR calls him boring like Bryan, and he defends himself, but says Conor looks like a rat, and ADR is jealous because he's never won a title. A tag match is made.

A video airs on Byron Saxton.

Match #1: Jacob Novak vs. Johnny Curtis
This wasn't amazing, but it was solid enough for the 2 minutes it lasted. Novak botches the RVD jump up to the top rope in hilarious fashion and then hits a mediocre Flying Legdrop to win.
*1/2

Video on Brodus Clay.

The Capture The Flag challenge happens. Nobody gives a shit. Novak wins.

RAW REBOUND.

In the back, Masters and Byron share workout tips and show off their pecs. Masters approves of his posing. Amazing.

Match #2: Daniel Bryan/Derrick Bateman vs. Alberto Del Rio/Conor O'Brian
Bryan again makes it good. Conor is absolutely terrible and dragged this down huge. Definition of a bland green guy. Bateman is a good seller, and ADR had some really nasty looking offense. Danielson breaks out THE FUCKING AIRPLANE SPIN! YES! BATEMAN DOES A TOPE SUICIDA! I LOVE HIM NOW! Danielson was then a great face in peril. ADR makes Derrick tap to the Jujigatame.

TONIGHT: Edge/Rey vs. Kane/ADR

included an opening in-ring promo by World Heavyweight Champion Kane in which he said Edge, not he, was the true monster, begged Edge to return Paul Bearer, and said the issue had to end tonight; moments later, Edge appeared on the big screen beside a tied up Bearer and with a steel chair in hand; Edge then said he needed to tune up his TLC skills by swinging the chair around a bit, eventually hitting Bearer in the back with the chair; Kane then ran backstage and confronted Edge, standing over Bearer and holding the chair; Edge then hit Bearer again with the chair, only to run off and reveal he assaulted a dummy instead; Edge then ran off with Bearer in his wheelchair, with Kane chasing after

Match #1: Jack Swagger vs. Kaval
Another good Kaval carryjob. Some fun size vs. speed spots. And then horribly, Swagger wins with the Ankle Lock.
**1/2

Post-match, Swagger gets on the mic. He says his foot was under the bottom rope last week, so Kofi should not be rewarded with an IC Title match tonight because he never really beat him. He says he is protesting the title match tonight on the basis of him not being a part of it.

Match #2: Hornswoggle vs. The Swagger Soaring Eagle
HOLY SHIT MATCH OF THE YEAR
TEN TRILLION BILLION STARS

A random highlight video airs of Kofi.

In the back, Ziggler is interviewed and says Kofi is a lifelong contender and people can relate to his failure.

Match #3: Dolph Ziggler [c] w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Kofi Kingston [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
This was a Ziggler/Kofi match. There's really not a ton new they can do together, and this felt pretty half assed. Swagger comes out and puts Kofi in the Ankle Lock for a DQ.
**1/4

Referees have to come out and pull Swagger off of him. Horrible feud continues.

Match #4: Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov vs. Drew McIntyre/Chavo Guerrero
Huge waste of Drew. He barely did anything and it was all Koztino comedy offense on Chavo and then the Cobra ends it. This is clearly WWE seeing Drew coming within 3 points of being #1 in the rankings and trying to torpedo that.
*1/2

Drew hits the Future Shock on Chavo post-match.

Replay of the horrible opening seg.

RAW REBOUND.

Match #4: Natalya vs. Layla
Beth and McCool are there. This was an enjoyable 2 minutes and Nattie wins with the Sharpshooter.
*

Rey vs. ADR is announced for TLC in a CHAIR MATCH!

the bout was scheduled as Del Rio teaming with World Heavyweight Champion Kane but, after Kane failed to appear, Teddy Long came out to the entrance stage and said Del Rio would wrestle the match by himself

Match #5: Edge/Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio
Kane comes out after a minute or so, and he and Edge brawl to the back. Rey vs. ADR is good stuff, but not very long. Goddamnit. They work well together as usual and shit, and then Rey wins with the 619 and Penguin Splash.
**1/4

after the contest, Kane confronted Edge backstage and tipped several ladders and a table over a ledge, thinking it was just another trick from Edge; moments later, Kane realized Paul Bearer was atop the table that he threw

WWE Raw - THE SLAMMIES
December 13th, 2010
New Orleans, LA

Special guest DAVID FUCKING ARQUETTE~ comes out and brags about being a former WCW Champion. He introduces the nominees for Shocker of the Year, and the winner is the Nexus' debut attack. Wade Barrett comes out to accept by himself and says he has been given an ultimatum by Nexus to rehire Cena and he will deliver a statement later in the show. Anon GM then comes out and books Wade vs. Big Show. Awful.

Match #1: Wade Barrett vs. The Big Show
Boring nothing match for 3 minutes. Wade ends up bailing out to the back with his Slammy and Show wins by CO.
*1/2

Tyson Kidd and Kelly Kelly present the blatant plug Despicable Me award. Tyson has a large man behind him. Kidd congratulates her on reading the words malice and treachery off the prompter, and mocks the STRONG, SEXY, AND POWERFUL~ line. The award goes to CM Punk for his birthday song to Rey's kids. Punk celebrates it with high fives and says this proves that all dreams do come true. He says Rey wronged him and he got even, and there's someone else in the back that has wronged him and there will come a day when he gets even.

Match #2: Daniel Bryan/Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler/Ted DiBiase
The Bellas and Vickie and Maryse are there. Bryan vs. Dolph was awesome, BUT LOL THIS GETS 2 MINUTES. FUCK YOU. Kofi beats Ziggler with Trouble in Paradise. Fuck this company.
*3/4

VOTE FOR THE SUPERSTAR OF THE YEAR AWARD! It's Cena, Miz, Rey, Kane, Orton, and Sheamus.

Santino and Vlad present the award for Guest Star Moment. Pee Wee somehow wins over Shatner singing. BULLSHIT.

In the back, Wade talks to Nexus. Otunga says if he doesn't rehire Cena and stop the attacks, he'll be excommunicated, and he needs them a lot more than they need him. FUCK YEAH OTUNGA. Wade laughs at him and says now he knows exactly what he'll do.

Match #3: Cody Rhodes vs. Mark Henry
Good for the two and a half minutes it lasted. :( All about getting over Cody's gimmick of not wanting facial contact. Which led to MOK WORKING THE FACE! YES! Cody then kicks out the knee to injure it, and Cody hits a Flying Knee off the top to the back for the win.
**

Fuck it, this show is horrible. Far cry from the awesome 08 Slammies. I just want to finish 2010 at this point.

featured Jerry Lawler & Vickie Guerrero introducing the nominees for Holy *&^%$# Move of the Year - John Morrison leaping onto Sheamus from the stage, Kofi Kingston leaping off the ladder through the commentary table at Money in the Bank, Cena hitting a FU on Batista through the stage at Judgment Day, and Orton hitting the RKO on a flying Evan Bourne - with Cena winning; moments later, Barrett came out, took the Slammy, walked to the ring, and said if Cena wanted the award, he could come and get it; Barrett then said he would make his decision regarding Cena before ultimately telling Cena to come out and face him; Cena then made his way through the crowd to the ring, with the rest of Nexus coming out and surrounding the ring; Barrett then said Cena was rehired on two conditions - that he face Barrett at TLC in a chairs match and that he face Otunga later in the show; moments later, Barrett went out to the floor, with the remainder of Nexus attacking Cena and Barrett twice hitting Cena over the back with a steel chair

featured Arquette introducing nominees for Reaction of the Year - a kid reacting to Cena joining Nexus, a woman crying when Shawn Michaels' career ended, a guy smiling, and the angry girl after Miz winning the WWE World Title - with the girl, Kaley, coming out to accept; Kaley then came out and thanked her dad before the Miz, with Alex Riley, interrupted, took the Slammy for safe keeping, and gave her the same look she gave him when he won the title; Miz then walked to the ring with Riley and Arquette, noting his numerous accomplishments over the year and said he would beat Orton at TLC in their tables match; Cole then received an e-mail from the Raw GM which read both Miz and Orton would have matches in the show and Miz's would be against a former world champion, with Rey Mysterio Jr. then coming out for the bout

Match #4: The Miz w/ Alex Riley vs. Rey Mysterio
I enjoyed this for the 4-5 minutes it got. They seem like they don't have a ton of chemistry, but it's really hard to judge that with only 4-5 minutes. ADR comes out to distract Rey and Miz gets an inside cradle for the win.
**

Rey chases ADR to the back. Anon GM rings in to book Orton vs. A-Ri and David Arquette later. HATE. THIS SHOW. FUCKING.
[KIRPOWEHJRWJU0KIRWHJE932WRKI
WEFHIOWE
WEF
SWINQOP
FUCK YOU

Edge comes out to present an award for Meltdown of the Year. He brings out a partner to do this with him, AND IT'S CHRISTIAN! FUCK YEAH! Edge wins for killing the GM's computer, which while amazing, is bullshit. It's 2010, so this clearly goes to the Meltdown from Chicago with the amazing closing angle. Anyways, they take turns shitting on the Anon GM and Edge calls Cole a tool again.

Match #5: John Morrison vs. Sheamus
Hey, this is fun and spirited. For 30 seconds. Then it is a double DQ.
1/4*

They keep fighting and get pulled apart. Pretty awesome pull apart and then Anon GM books them in a #1 Contender's Ladder Match at TLC. They break loose and have an awesome fight again. Sheamus gets a ladder and hits Morrison with it. He puts on the announce table and apron and then he gets in. He drops Morrison over the top and onto the ladder, like it was his knee on a Gutbuster. Great spot.

Regal and JTG present the award for Knucklehead Moment. LayCool wins for losing to Mae Young. They come out and they then say they will win the Diva of the Year battle royal for their second Slammy.

Match #6: Diva of the Year Battle Royal
Shitty battle royal, as usual with them. Michelle McCool wins.
1/2*

LayCool celebrates, but Nattie and Beth run them off. Anon GM books them in a tag match at TLC and it will be a Tables Match! Yeah!

Match #7: Edge vs. Jack Swagger
This is somehow the longest match so far at 5 minutes-ish. It's Edge vs. Swagger, so it's still pretty boring and lame. Edge wins with the Spear.
*1/2

In the back, A-Ri is upset having to team with Arquette, and then Miz says he'll be out there. He says A-Ri winning would be nice, but the goal tonight is putting Orton through a table.

Big Show presents WWE Moment of the Year, and it goes to Shawn retiring. Nah. He delivers a speech from his home and HEY NOPE. FUCK YOU. YOU'RE RETIRED. STAY OFF MY TV AND COMPUTER. I HATE YOU.

Match #8: Randy Orton vs. Alex Riley/David Arquette w/ The Miz
This was fun for David's bullshit stalling and antics. Orton vs. A-Ri was terrible, and that was most of this 3 minute match. Orton wins with the RKO on Riley.
*

Miz hits Orton with the briefcase that he still has for some reason. He and Arquette set up a table, but Randy Orton fights back. Miz bails out and Orton puts Arquette through a table with a Powerbomb.

Make-a-Wish video.

T'Lo comes out to present Superstar of the Year, and John Cena wins for the second year in a row. He then talks about a lot of bullshit and goes to the ring.

Match #9: John Cena vs. David Otunga w/ Nexus
Cena wins in about 90 seconds with the FU. AIDS. During the match, all of Nexus walks out on Otunga except for Wade, who watches and is pleased.
*

Cena beats the shit out of Otunga with the chair and Wade watches.

During the rookie intros, Josh says Conor O'Brian is from Grand Rapids, MI. Everything is fucking awful. They have a horrible singing challenge. Bateman wins the crowd over by yelling that RAGIN CAJUN FOOTBALL RULES! Byron Saxton wins.

Video on Jacob Novak.

Match #1: Chris Masters/Byron Saxton vs. Ted DiBiase/Brodus Clay w/ Maryse
This was pretty awesome. Mostly because it was 8 minutes and Masters worked at least 7 minutes. Awesome offense, selling, bumping, etc. Brodus is clearly not very good yet, but Masters makes him look decent and makes Ted look good. Nice theme with the rookies both making mistakes. Masters is about to win, but Byron tags himself in and Ted is able to get Dream Street for the win.
**3/4

In the back, Daniel Bryan teaches Bateman how to do a Heel Hook. Bateman then starts yelling SUBMISSION WRESTLING and names his hands Freedom and Justice. I love this pairing.

NXT Obstacle Course. DON'T GIVE A SHIT. SKIPPED IT.

Video on Johnny Curtis.

In the back, Novak tries to hit on Vickie. Dolph comes in now and takes Novak away to talk strategy with his rookie, but then just tells him to go watch the main event somewhere by himself.

Match #2: Alberto Del Rio vs. Derrick Bateman
This only got like 3 minutes, but it was alright. Pretty low key, despite all the work being acceptable. ADR wins with the Jujigatame.

Drew McIntyre vs. Yoshi Tatsu, Superstars (December 16th)
Hey shocker, this is awesome. Moving along averagely, AND THEN DREW DOES A SHOULDERBREAKER USING THE APRON! FUUUUUUUCK! Amazing Drew arm work, once again. Yoshi's selling is good, etc. Drew accidentally rams his arm into the post to start a comeback, and then his selling is awesome. Even more so than Yoshi's. Yoshi misses the Flying Wheel Kick to rehurt the arm, and Drew hits the Future Shock for the win.

featured an opening in-ring promo by Edge in which he recapped what had been going on the previous weeks with World Heavyweight Champion Kane & Paul Bearer, then showing a recap video set to 'The Benny Hill Show' theme; Edge then said he wish he could forget it all happened, then saying Kane was evil and he did it all to get at Kane at his own game and eventually take the title from Kane at TLC

TONIGHT: Miz/Rey II

included a backstage segment with Teddy Long and Edge in which Long debated whether Kane would even appear at TLC to face Edge; moments later, Alberto Del Rio walked in and said he could take Edge in Kane's place; Rey Mysterio Jr. then appeared and said he was also deserving of a title shot and he would show Del Rio who was dominant at TLC; Long then said the three would face off in a triple threat TLC match if Kane doesn't appear at the pay-per-view; after Del Rio argued over what would happen if Kane did appear, Long said all four men would compete in the TLC match

It is Ziggler/Kofi/Swagger in a Ladder Match for the IC Title at TLC

Match #1: Kofi Kingston/Kaval vs. Dolph Ziggler/Jack Swagger w/ Vickie Guerrero
This had a lot of promise due to Kaval and Zig, but it was mostly Swagger vs. Kofi. Seriously, what the fuck? This match up is TERRIBLE. JUST FUCKING TERRIBLE. No chemistry and really emphasizes all the worst aspects of both guys. And you have two of the best guys on the brand here, and they refuse to let them in for more than like 1-2 minutes out of an 8 minute match. Their stuff ruled and Kofi beats Ziggler with the kick.
*3/4

The winners leave, and then Swagger clotheslines Dolph.

THAT FUCKING FAGGOT JACK KORPELA interviews The Miz. He asks why he's even here and then says he's the most must-see champion ever and will beat Rey again.

A horrible segment airs with JTG talking about recent WWE events.

In the back, Drew hits on Kelly and says he would have beaten up Kidd for her. He says the person he is in the ring is a different man than he is outside of the ring, and she should respect that. KELLEH.

DASHING GROOMING TIP: Blowdry your hair

Match #2: Cody Rhodes vs. Chris Masters
Even with only 3 minutes, this was better than the last match. Usual good stuff from them again, and Cody wins with the Cross Rhodes.
**

Match #3: Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz w/ Alex Riley

They get 10 minutes and it is....average. Well there you go, looks like they don't have a lot of chemistry. Miz wasn't really anything special here, which is a letdown since he's had great showings in 2010 at points. ADR runs out for a distraction, allowing Miz to get his knees up on the Penguin Splash, and he covers for 3.
**1/2

moments later, Edge ran out to make the save; after the four men brawled, Teddy Long appeared at the entrance stage and said Edge & Mysterio would face Miz & Del Rio later in the show

included an in-ring promo by Michelle McCool & Layla in which they protested their upcoming tables match at TLC against WWE Divas Champion Natalya Neidhart & Beth Phoenix; moments later, Natalya & Beth interrupted and brought out a giant wrapped gift, with Natalya & Beth eventually showing it to be a table with ugly representations of McCool & Layla; the four women then brawled with Natalya & Beth eventually clearing the other two from the ring and scaring them off by holding up the tabe

Match #4: Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov vs. Chavo Guerrero/Tyler Reks
Horrible 2 minutes of Reks in action. The Cobra beats Chavito again.
3/4*

ZEKE COMES TO SD: NEXT WEEK! YEAH!

Match #5: Edge/Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio/The Miz w/ Alex Riley
Not a ton of importance or note, since this is more of an angle than anything, but Rey had some awesome awesome spots in his hot tag. He hits the 619 on Del Rio, but then Kane comes out and kills everyone.
**1/4

Edge fights back and they have a horrible pull apart. Jesus, WWE 2010 is really overusing pull apart brawls. And I say that as someone who used them as a huge crutch in btbs. Edge gets free and drops Kane with the Spear.

WWE Tables, Ladders, & Chairs
December 19th, 2010
Houston, TX

Match #1: Dolph Ziggler [c] w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger [WWE Intercontinental Championship - Ladder Match]

They had some really cool ideas, but it was really truncated at 9 minutes or so. Swagger injured his hand early on, which made a lot of his stuff really sloppy. Ziggler and Kofi both ruled here. Awesome finish, but it was a huge anticlimax. Swagger and Kofi both have the belt down, but they drop it and Ziggler manages to catch it while getting up and then bails out with the belt and the ref says he wins.
**3/4

Striker claims this is the last PPV of the decade. Great work.

In the back, Wade talks to Nexus and Otunga is not there. He talks about Cena blah blah blah Nexus is dead after tonight. Who gives a shit?

Match #2: LayCool vs. Beth Phoenix/Natalya [Table Match]
They go out and put on a fucking awesome match for the womens' division. Everyone takes huge bumps and hits hard, and it is fantastic. Beth takes a crazy bump on the back of her neck to the floor. Some good table saves, and yeah. Natalya shoves both of them off the top to a table, but it doesn't break all the way, so she comes off with a splash to finish the job and put them both through.
**3/4

LIVE SMOCKDAWN THIS TUESDAY!

Match #3: Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov [c] vs. Justin Gabriel/Heath Slater w/ Nexus [WWE Tag Team Championsip]
This sure as fuck happened. The Santino/Gabriel opening exchange was fun, but then it got pretty boring and average. The Nexus members on the floor then interfere for a DQ.
*3/4

They beat down the champions. Wade Barrett then comes out and beats down Santino with chair shots as a message.

Match #4: John Morrison vs. Sheamus [#1 Contender's Ladder Match]
This was fucking incredible. Even moreso, given that neither man really gave any inclination that they had this in them. Initially, the story was Morrison's speed and inventiveness vs. Sheamus' power. Some absolutely fucking insane ladder spots from Morrison, inventive on a level not seen since Shelton Benjamin in the first MITB match. Sheamus then hurt the leg and worked on it. Some really violent and brutal work on the knee using the ladder. Morrison puts on the best performance of his career with incredible selling and crisp offense. They have a nice subtle story of Sheamus being uncomfortable with the ladders too, allowing Morrison to come back. They do some insane stuff, and Morrison gets the contract down to win.
****

Knucklehead promo.

In the back, The Miz cuts a Miz promo about how he's trying to convince us that he is a legitimate media megastar.

In the back, Wade and Husky walk into the Nexus locker room and the other three have all been laid out.

Match #5: The Miz [c] w/ Alex Riley vs. Randy Orton [WWE Championship - Tables Match]
My god, this was mediocre. Not bad, but they just didn't mesh and all and absolutely nothing of any note happened.
Insanely forgettable. Orton Powerbombs A-Ri through a table with the ref down, but Miz then hits the Skull Crushing Finale. He puts Orton in the table remains and wakes up the ref, and then wins. The Anon GM restarts it and then a few minutes later, Miz throws A-Ri into Orton on the apron, knocking Orton off through a table on the floor. So why not just have it end with the first screwjob ending? That's an awesome bullshit heel win. The restart led to nothing at all, Miz still retained.
**

ROYAL RUMBLE: JANUARY 30TH!

Match #6: Kane [c] vs. Edge vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio [World Heavyweight Champion - TLC Match]
The Rey/ADR stuff in this was great. Edge/Kane was not so great. This really really dragged at points, and I guess the best word to describe it is labored. There was some cool stuff, but it just felt like they were trying way too big of stuff without it really meaning much or having much story behind it or point, and it wasn't particularly inventive either. Rey and ADR did take some nutty bumps though. Edge knocks Kane off the apron through a table and gets the belt to win it.
**1/2

featured a segment in which Cody Rhodes, wearing a suit, came out to the stage and cut a promo on the crowd, saying the city was full of fat people that would only get fatter during the holidays; moments later, Brie & Nikki Bella, dressed as elves, came out with the Big Show, dressed as Santa Claus, and threw out gifts to the ringside fans; moments later, Rhodes showed a clip of 'Knucklehead' in which Show was in his underwear, then said Show had no dignity; Show responded by saying Rhodes wasn't funny and needed to have fun; after the two had words, Show dropped Rhodes with a spinebuster before tearing off his suit jacket, ripping apart his dress shirt, and ripping up Rhodes slacks, leaving Rhodes in only his briefs and tie

In the back, Husky and Wade were walking, and Cena runs on and hits Husky with a chair, and quickly walked away.

CM PUNK COMES OUT TO DO COMMENTARY! YES!

Match #7: John Cena vs. Wade Barrett [FUCKING CHAIRS MATCH]
This was not nearly as good as HIAC. In fact, this was pretty fucking mediocre too, if not for some moments. They had some really cool ideas, but they got drowned out by a lot of forgettable and boring stuff for the 20 minutes this lasted. Cena finally ends the match and this once promising feud with an FU through many chairs.
**1/4

Cena then beats Wade up the ramp with a chair, and makes many chairs drop on him from the set. Awful.

Awesome opening segment with Miz's Christmas Carol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qssqqdDVzy8

Replays air of Cena killing MWAY.

Natalya comes out to do commentary.

Match #1: Eve vs. Melina vs. Alicia Fox [#1 Contender's Match]
Lots and lots of botching for 2 minutes. Melina beats Alicia with the Code Red/Yoshi Tonic.
3/4*

Natalya gets in and offers a handshake, but Melina slaps her and leaves.

In the back, the Bellas argue over who Daniel Bryan likes more. Bryan then walks over and asks if they're ready for the match, and he walks off with one on each arm. FUCK YEAH BRYAN!

Match #2: Daniel Bryan w/ The Bellas vs. William Regal
This is AMAZING for 4:31. They tell a story and also get the crowd super into it, and it also works on a level of "hey, some really awesome stuff for 4 minutes". Awesome matwork, telling the teacher vs. student dynamic, with Regal just wagging his finger at a point when he escapes a hold. Punk does a great job putting that over. Regal gets stuff, but Bryan brings it back at him and wins in a European Uppercut exchange. If there wasn't a 10 minute fancam of this from the same time period, I'd be mad at this only getting 4 minutes, but it's still fantastic. Danielson wins with the LeBell Lock.
***

Regal applauds and shakes his hand, and then the Bellas both kiss Daniel.

In the back, Orton talks to Morrison. He says that was a nice match last night and congratulates him. He says if he wins the WWE Title, he's coming for him and Morrison says that's fair enough, and he'll be ready. He says he hopes Orton is too, and Orton tells him not to make a stupid mistake like trusting him. This was actually awesome.

In the back, MOK and Gail talk about how much it rules with Nexus being gone.

Match #3: Ted DiBiase/Maryse vs. Santino Marella/Tamina
Nothing match for 2 minutes. Tamina beats Maryse with the Superfly Splash.
*1/4

John Cena comes out and blah blah blah happy to be back. Vickie and Dolph come out and leads to an absolutely AMAZING segment due to the crowd being just the most insanely white hot crowd of the year in pro wrestling:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFcu0mo5HXc

-Cena hugs WE HATE CENA guy
-Cena sings "Deep in the Heart of Texas"
-The crowd will not let Vickie speak for like 2 minutes, resulting in Cena completely cracking up
-10 minutes of hilarious fat jokes on Vickie with Cena and Lawler going back and forth

It leads to Cena/Dolph.

Match #4: John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero
Another amazing Cena as Ace against a promising young guy match. Awesome matwork to begin and then when Ziggler took over, he had some really inventive ORTONLOCK~ variants. They did an awesome job working the idea of power vs. technique in all Cena's comebacks and Dolph's shut-downs. Good finishing run. Ziggler doesn't cover as much as he should on the Peace Zig, and Cena can get his arm up. He goes back to his old thing of getting frustrated when he can't put a guy away like vs. Rey in 2009, and he goes for the title belt. It allows Cena to recover though, and he hits a flash FU for the win.
***1/4

Cena celebrates, BUT CM PUNK GETS IN AND HITS HIM TWICE WITH A CHAIR! FUCK YEAH! Punk leaves, and Cena slowly gets up, and is mad. IT HAS BEGUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

LIVE SMACKDOWN: TOMORROW NIGHT!

Match #5: The Miz/Alex Riley/Sheamus vs. Randy Orton/John Morrison/Jerry Lawler
Shockingly good, even great. Morrison's knee is a focus again, and his selling is once again fantastic. He's also throwing some actual good strikes and looks the best he has since 2008. Really does seem like he's FINALLY ready to be a top guy. A-Ri is the only one here who outright sucks, but he isn't in that much and is beat up on, emphasizing his selling, which is the least awful part of his game. Lawler and Orton both had good hot tags. With a less amazing crowd, this is probably just a very good match, but the crowd puts it over the top. Big finishing run and Orton RKOs Miz, AND LAWLER PINS MIZ FOR THE WIN! YEAH!
***

G.O.A.T. level Raw, with three ***+ matches and two great segments, and the filler stuff being under 10 minutes of showtime total.

Another obstacle course. Skipped it.

Match #1: Johnny Curtis vs. Jacob Novak
This pretty much happened again. Some more impressive strikes by Curtis than in their first match. Novak wins with a mediocre Yakuza Kick.
**

Video on Bateman.

A Trivia Challenge happens. Skipped to the end again because I want this to be over. Bateman and Novak have a trivia-off naming former WWE Champions. Bateman names Sid, and Novak cannot respond to that in time, so Bateman wins. Sid is always the answer.

Match #2: Chris Masters/Byron Saxton/Natalya vs. Ted DiBiase/Brodus Clay/Maryse
Another match that was clearly led by Masters. Brodus had some awesome throws, but his selling and bumping was not great. Saxton is generally average. Brodus misses a Vader Bomb and Byron pins him for the win.

Match #1: Randy Orton vs. The Miz w/ Alex Riley

This wasn't much, but it was only slightly below average, which makes it their best match yet, I think. They did some things, and Orton won with the RKO.
**1/4

Orton goes for the punt post-match, but A-Ri saves. A-Ri is then hit with the RKO too.

TONIGHT: Cena vs. Ziggler/Vickie in a handicap match

featured an in-ring segment with Show, Rosa, and Hornswoggle in which Show read a holiday rhyme recapping the events of TLC before the three gave out gifts to ringside fans; moments later, Cody Rhodes assaulted Hornswoggle in the ring before kicking the gift boxes in the ring and leaving ringside as Show threatened him

RAW REBOUND!

In the back, Santino has Kozlov hold mistletoe over Beth so he can kiss her, so she kisses Vlad instead.

Match #2: Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero
This was what it it was. Santino does comedy and then wins with the Cobra.
*1/2

featured an in-ring promo by World Heavyweight Champion Edge in which he discussed his TLC win over Kane, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Alberto Del Rio two days earlier; eventually, Kane interrupted at the entrance stage and said Edge's story woudn't end on a happy note; Edge responded by cutting Kane off and challenging him to a title match then and there; Kane appeared to accept the challenge but eventually backed off, saying he wasn't playing by Edge's rules any longer and would get the belt back under his terms

ZEKE HYPE VIDEO YEAH!

Match #3: Drew McIntyre vs. Kaval
Technically, this is only 30 seconds, but Drew jumps Kaval on the floor to start it. They have this really really fucking awesome brawl as usual for this pairing. Drew kills Kaval and then rolls him in and hits the Future Shock to win.
**

This is Kaval's last match. On some level, it's a shame what they did with him, but he feels like a guy who just doesn't work with the WWE, especially as a fiery babyface young guy. He's a guy who is all about the experience of seeing him live and how brutal it is, and that doesn't translate to a bigger company so well. Ki will probably go down as the Scorpio or Shane Douglas of the 2000s, a guy who was awesome (or apparently was, as my 90s indy knowledge is limited) everywhere else, but not in the WWE/F.

Tribute to the Troops hype.

Match #4: Rey Mysterio/Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio/Jack Swagger
OH MY GOD, FUCK KOFI VS. SWAGGER. I HATE THIS. They even drag down Rey and ADR with them. Un-fucking-fair. Rey/ADR segments were awesome though, so there is that. Swagger gets hit with the 619, Trouble in Paradise, and then the Penguin Splash, and the faces win.
**1/2

In the back, Vickie gives Dolph a speech on how they will destroy Cena tonight.

NEXT WEEK: Edge/Rey vs. ADR/Kane

Match #5: John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler/Vickie Guerrero
Obviously not as good as Raw, but still a lot of fun. Cena and Ziggler basically had the same match, with spots of Vickie doing stuff and then getting out. Cena made his comeback, and kissed Vickie and then hit the FU on Dolph to win.
**3/4

CM Punk then comes out and lays Cena out with a chair again.

TONIGHT: Lawler vs. Miz, Orton vs. Sheamus

John Cena comes out to open the show, and he calls out CM Punk to talk to him and explain why he's been attacking him with chairs and asks if this is about diet soda being spilled or something more. CM Punk comes onto the stage and says he gets everyone to believe he's so great, but the truth is that he's thoughtless, heartless, and he's dishonest. He says this is way beyond a diet soda. John Cena lied about leaving after Survivor Series and what he did at TLC was uncalled for and last May, he ended the career of a good friend of his, Dave Batista. He says Cena's word is worthless and Cena does some Cena bullshit and tries to make a CM SUCKS nickname. Punk says he's not funny and nobody else is laughing. Cena challenges him to a match, and Punk says they will fight, but on his terms, and he has another surprise for Cena later on.

Match #1: Ted DiBiase vs. Santino Marella
Both wimminz are there. This is under a minute and Santino wins with a roll up.
1/2*

Ted and Maryse attack them post-match, but they fight back and they both hit Cobras on the heels.

included a backstage segment with WWE World Champion Mike Mizanin and Alex Riley in which they discussed Riley's upcoming match with John Morrison and Miz's non-title match with Jerry Lawler; moments later, Morrison walked in and said if he beats Riley, he should get to pick the stipulation and when and where he would challenge Miz for the title; Morrison joked that he should be fired if Riley won, but then agreed to forfeit his #1 contendership if he lost the match

Match #2: John Morrison vs. Alex Riley w/ The Miz [STIPULATION MATCH]
This sure as fuck happened. Morrison was good again, but A-Ri was total dogshit on offense and real mediocre on bumping/selling. Miz's interference fails and Morrison wins with the Jimmy Rave Knee.
**

In the back, Miz yells at A-Ri for losing and says he better do his job later tonight when he faces Lawler.

featured a backstage segment with WWE US Champion Daniel Bryan, Brie & Nikki Bella, with Tyson Kidd & Jackson Andrews walking in and Kidd noting he was facing Mark Henry later in the show and alluding that he wanted a title shot

In the back, Randy Orton cuts a Randy Orton promo.

Match #3: Mark Henry vs. Tyson Kidd w/ Jackson Andrews
This was a lot of fun for the 2 minutes that it lasted. Henry catches Kidd off the top and hits the World's Strongest Slam. Ahahahahaha, what?
*3/4

MOK hits the move on Andrews too. WELP, THERE GOES THAT PUSH.

In the back, Morrison says that he'll take his title shot next week in a FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH!

Match #4: The Miz w/ Alex Riley vs. Jerry Lawler
Fun match, but not their best. Felt somewhat held back since they never had a real finishing run. Lawler still had a lot of good selling and bumping though. They fight on the floor at the end, and Lawler slides in. A-Ri accidentally distracts the ref and Morrison comes out and hits the Jimmy Rave Knee and Miz on the floor, and Lawler wins by count out!
**1/2

In the back, Punk talks to Sheamus and talks about how many times Cena has insulted and disrespected him and gone out of his way to make him look bad. He asks him to watch tonight when he embarrasses Cena, because he's doing it for everyone who's ever been subjected to Cena's horrible self righteous attitude and his egomaniacal behavior.

Natalya is on commentary again.

Match #5: Melina/Alicia Fox vs. Eve/Gail Kim
Another average 2 minute match. Melina beats Gail with the Code Red.
1/2*

Melina calls in Natalya to apologize, and she offers her hand. When she gets in, Melina tries a cheap shot, but Natalya knocks her down with a forearm.

In the back, Punk talks to the trainers and tells them to get the EMTs ready for when he's done with Cena.

Match #6: Daniel Bryan w/ The Bella Twins vs. Zack Ryder
This is randomly joined in progress and about 2 minutes is aired. Awful. It is good stuff though, and Daniel wins with the LeBell Lock.
*3/4

Cole and Lawler talk about stuff, but The Miz hops the railing from the crowd and attacks Lawler from behind! He beats him down on the floor, but it takes WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long to get the point across, and Miz is pretty terrible at being a tough guy intense heel. He hits the Skull Crushing Finale on the floor.

Match #7: Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
Hey, so this happened again. Just as mediocre and plan as it has been every time they've run it in 2010. Some moves happened and it was average, people sold them averagely and then Orton won with the RKO.
**1/2

John Cena comes out last and he calls out CM Punk for this surprise. He doesn't come out when his music plays, and Cena then calls him CM SUCKS again. His music plays again and he doesn't come out. Cena then says he'll come get him himself then, but when he goes to leave, the Nexus music hits! Otunga, Gabriel, Slater, Husky, and McGillicutty then come out to the ring and Otunga gets in the ring after walking down first as the leader. He says Nexus is under new management and they don't want a war anymore and he's offering him a truce. Cena says he doesn't trust him, so Nexus attacks. They hit him with all of their finishers, and Cena is laid out. Otunga drops a Nexus armband on him, and they leave. CM Punk then walks out past them, and he hits Cena with the GTS! Nexus stays to watch, and Punk brings in a chair. He signals to hit him, but Cena is down and hurt. Punk sits down instead, AND PUNK PUTS THE NEXUS ARMBAND ON! WHAT THE FUCK?!

TONIGHT: Edge/Rey vs. ADR/Kane

No NXT this week because I just want to finish this now.

eatured an opening in-ring promo by Vickie Guerrero, alongside WWE IC Champion Dolph Ziggler, in which Vickie said she was filing a complaint against John Cena for hoisting her up for a FU the previous week, said it gave her vertigo, and that she couldn't be more than 2 and a half feet above the ground per doctor's orders; moments later, Kofi Kingston interrupted, noting the controversial ending of the IC title ladder match at TLC and Vickie's interference; Jack Swagger then came out and said he was cheated at TLC and the belt should be his; Ziggler told the two the only thing that mattered was that he was still champion, with Kingston and Swagger saying they were due a rematch; Ziggler then said he and Vickie were VIPs at Teddy Long's New Year's Eve party, with a brawl then taking place and Kingston remaining as the last man in the ring; Long then appeared at the entrance stage, said all of them were invited to Long's party, and that Ziggler would face both Kingston and Swagger in a title match later in the show

Match #1: The Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes
This was about two and a half minutes of Cody bumping around before he bailed out and took a count out.
*3/4

The NYE party is in the back and Drew says he plans to be a better person in 2011. Chavo is drunk and calls everyone jerks.

Match #2: Drew McIntyre vs. Trent Baretta
Drew got 4 minutes against an opponent of moderate skill, so it was awesome. Some brutal Drew spots, and the match is stopped after Trent misses a Tope Con Hilo in a disgusting bump.
**1/4

Drew hits the Future Shock on the floor and wishes him a Happy New Year.

; included a backstage segment in which Chavo vented to the Soaring Eagle about how no one likes him; Long then asked for more resolutions, with Michelle McCool & Layla interrupting and complaining that they didn't really lose at TLC because they couldn't break the table; WWE Divas Champion Natalya Neidhart & Beth Phoenix then walked in, with the four women arguing until Long ordered the two teams to face off later in the show

Match #3: Edge/Rey Mysterio vs. Kane/Alberto Del Rio
Rey/ADR was again the best pairing. However, this was mostly Kane vs. Edge. Smackdown over the last few months has done this really weird thing where they've booked tag matches with potentially awesome pairings, but then put all of the focus on the matchups that are just absolutely fucking hideous. Rey had an awesome hot tag on ADR and what not. ADR is beat with the 619 and the Spear.
**1/4

featured a backstage segment with Chavo and Kaitlyn in which Chavo tried to change his voice by inhaling helium; Chris Masters and Hornswoggle were then shown comparing pecks; Big Show was then shown speaking with Kelly Kelly in which he told her to be careful with McIntyre; Cody Rhodes then interrupted and argued with Show about their match earlier in the night, with Long saying there would be no fighting at the party but said Alberto Del Rio would face Rey Mysterio Jr. in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match and Kane would challenge World Heavyweight Champion Edge in a last man standing match

Match #4: LayCool vs. Beth Phoenix/Natalya
Good shit, once again. Awesome strikes, good control seg by LayCool, etc. Beth has a good hot tag and beats McCool with the Glam Slam.
**

included a backstage segment in which Long congratulated the superstars and divas for it not ending in a fight, as every other WWE party had; Chavo then began to argue, with Show pouring punch over his head and a food fight erupting involving JTG, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, Hornswoggle, and others

RAW REBOUND

Match #5: Dolph Ziggler [c] w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
I'm glad the IC Title got the main event, Ziggler deserves it. This was good. Not great, since HEY GUESS WHAT? SWAGGER VS. KOFI? STILL ABSOLUTELY FUCKING TERRIBLE. But Ziggler did his best to carry it. The Ziggler/Kofi stuff was clearly the best, despite them having run out of new and interesting stuff to do against each other. Kofi hits Jack with Trouble in Paradise, but then Ziggler rolls up Kofi with the tights for the win.

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:

PAST WINNERS:

1990: Mr. Perfect
1991: Mr. Perfect
1992: Randy Savage
1993: Bret Hart
1994: Bret Hart
1995: Bret Hart
1996: Steve Austin
1997: Owen Hart
1998: The Rock
1999: X-Pac
2000: Chris Benoit

2004: Chris Benoit
2005: Chris Benoit
2006: John Cena
2007: Matt Hardy
2008: CM Punk
2009: Rey Mysterio

Through the first six months of the year, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio spent most of the time dead even at #1. Then CM Punk got injured and it got more up in the air. Ziggler and Christian, who had been switching between #2 and 3 behind Punk and Rey, started coming close and yeah. Rey got injured too, but so did Christian. Punk came back, but not for long enough before being reinjured to reclaim #1. Rey came back, but was stuck on SD where the horrible booking didn't help him. Didn't help Dolph either. Daniel Bryan made a huge case for himself post-SummerSlam, but being absent for about 3 months really did him in.

In the last few months, OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE, DREW GODDAMNED MCINTYRE MADE A CASE! HE WAS ONE FUCKING POINT AWAY FROM #1 AT A POINT! I'm always pleased with an out of nowhere underdog win for a guy who deserves it (Austin in 96, Pac in 99, Eddie in 02, Matt in 07), but then it seems WWE was out to fix the results again. This time, it wasn't so much putting a guy on both TV shows with occasionally two matches a night like at points in the past. This time, it was trying to bench Drew for episodes so he would fall JUST short. In the end, your 2010 Wrestler of the Year wasn't the guy with the best promos, angles, or matches. He wasn't the best guy on the roster, but he is...

PERFECTION!
