WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984
WWF Tag Team Champions: The North-South Connection, Since 4/17/1984

WWF Championship Wrestling
November 10th, 1984
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Tito Santana vs. The Executioner

Good Tito showcase for 5 minutes. Usual fine matwork, hot comeback, etc. Executioner was a fine basic heel. Tito wins with the Flying Forearm.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Hulk Hogan highlights

Match #2: Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Tony Garea
This was a short Studd squash. The good booking of the series with Hogan aside, he's really not a good wrestler at all, and yeah. He wins with a basic shoulderblock, and they sell that Garea just couldn't get him off of the cover.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Ivan Putski talks about things

Match #3: The North-South Connection vs. Jose Luis Rivera/Rick McGraw
Usual amazing NSC squash. Awesome punches and elbows and knees and shit. Just really goddamned violent. They beat the shit out of Rick's knee too. They then beat Jose with the Back Suplex/Flying Elbow combination. Fuck yeah NSC.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Bobby Heenan comes in and Gene says people call him The Weasel. Heenan says not to call him that and says his man John Studd will win the battle royal for this LA show that will not make tape. He says his man will throw people into the third row.

This is my first show with Bruno on commentary, and it is AWFUL.

Match #4: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Mario Mancini
This is not awful, but not great either. Beefcake wins with the Whoopee Cushion.
*1/4

It is time for Piper's Pit and he brings on BARRY WINDHAM! FUCK YEAH! I missed a lot with those two months gone! Piper says he's never lost a match and asks why he's ready to be in the WWF and asks him to stand up. He says he's got nice long legs, long blond hair, and a cute little bandana and asks if he's a man or a woman, and Windham says he's a lot bigger than Piper is, and says he's never seen any man in Texas who walks around in a skirt. He walks off and Piper yells that it's a kilt.

Match #5: David Sammartino vs. Johnny Rodz
THE PLAGUE IS UPON US. David is this short pudgy kid with an awful looking face, and he looks like Bruno would be physically repulsed by him. He wins with a Powerslam. Fuck this piece of fucking shit.
Gogz

Hillbilly Jim is in the crowd.

BILLY JACK HAYNES VIGNETTE.

Match #5: The Tonga Kid vs. Dave Barbie
This was pretty horrible before Piper came out and attacked Tonga for the DQ.
1/2*

He keeps beating on him, BUT JIMMY SNUKA MAKES HIS RETURN FROM INJURY TO MAKE THE SAVE! YEAH!

Andre the Giant/SD Jones vs. Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan, Championship Wrestling (December 1st)
This was like 3 minutes, and fine enough. More of an angle than anything though. SD gets hurt on the floor, and the heels then double team Andre. They manage to slam him when they both do it. They keep beating on him, and the ref DQs them.
*1/4

They have Andre hurt, and Patera holds him up. HEENAN PULLS OUT SCISSORS AND JOHN STUDD STARTS CUTTING OFF HIS HAIR! THEY ARE RAPING HIM OF HIS DIGNITY MY GOD!

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship - $15,000 Body Slam Challenge Also In Effect], Meadlowlands (December 10th)
This is their worst match, since it's basically all about both men trying to slam each other. They build it well, and when Hogan gets busted open, that adds a little something more. They go to the floor, AND HOGAN SLAMS STUDD ON THE FLOOR HOLY SHIT WHAT?! Hogan then slides in at 9 to win by count out, in addition to winning the challenge.
**

Hogan celebrates with the belt, AND HEENAN SAYS IT HAS TO HAPPEN INSIDE THE RING! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984
WWF Tag Team Champions: The North-South Connection, Since 4/17/1984

WWF Wrestling
December 26th, 1984
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY

Match #1: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. SD Jones

Oh dear lord, this did NOT need 13 minutes. It wasn't awful or anything, and I am somewhat impressed with Brutus' heel work, but still way too long. He has nice knee strikes, and then wins with a Running Knee Lift.
*1/4

Match #2: Antonio Inoki vs. David Schultz

This is the final MSG match for either. Inoki would go and be insane in Japan during the rest of the Hogan era, and Schultz would slap the shit out of John Stossel and get fired. This was awesome for 5 minutes. Inoki carrying the matwork and slapping Dr. D around. Dr. D looked good again and yeah. Inoki wins with his great looking Enzuiguri.
**1/

Match #3: The Junkyard Dog vs. Paul Kelly

This sure happened. JYD squash. Powerslam ends it.
1/2*

Match #4: Black Tiger vs. The Cobra [WWF Junior Heavyweight Championship]

The belt is vacant. They had some cool stuff, but it was basically them just doing a lot of stuff with no real flow. Cobra hits a Tombstone and then a Flipping Senton to win.
**1/2

Match #5: Roddy Piper/Bob Orton vs. Jimmy Snuka/The Tonga Kid

Awesome performances by Piper and Orton. Piper bumps around awesomely for Tonga to make him not look like dogshit, as does Orton. They had great control segments on Snuka and Tonga, and then Snuka got the hot tag. Shit broke down in an enjoyable manner, and all four brawled in the ring, so the referee threw the match out.
**1/2

Match #6: Mike Rotundo vs. Rene Goulet

Captain Mike has some nice matwork, and this is a fine low-key 5 minute match to calm the crowd down after the wild brawl. He wins with A FUCKING AIRPLANE SPIN! I love Mike Rotundo even more now.
*3/4

Coming back, it is time for a special presentation, and PRESIDENT JACK TUNNEY DEBUTS! He brings out Hulk Hogan and Wendi Richter to present the award, and then Cyndi Lauper for a special award presentation for her contributions to the WWF in 1984. She comes out with her manager David Wolf and she has a gold record with her. She gives it to Hogan on behalf of the WWF to thank them as well. They leave, and she brings out Capt. Lou Albano as well and gives him a record too for helping raise over $4 million for MS. He's giving a speech, but Roddy Piper comes out. Albano tells him to wait but Piper takes the record and the mic. He says he set this up and started it, AND HE BREAKS THE RECORD DISPLAY OVER ALBANO'S HEAD HOLY SHIT! PIPER SHOVES LAUPER DOWN, AND HE BODYSLAMS DAVID WOLF! FUCK YEAH! HULK HOGAN RUNS OUT TO SAVE, AND PIPER BAILS! THAT RULED!

Match #7: The North-South Connection [c] vs. The Briscos [WWF Tag Team Championship]
This gets 27 minutes, for some reason. Awesome Murdoch bumping early on and they tell a basic story of brawling vs. matwork. Jack fucks up and allows Murdoch to go to the floor, and when he reaches to bring him in, Murdoch smacks him right in the chest with a camera case. The Briscos eventually get pissed at the constant cheating and brawling, and start to throw down too. It goes on a little too long, obviously, and all four men fight on the floor for a double DQ.
***

Match #8: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. The Iron Sheik w/ Freddie Blassie [WWF Championship]

This is only 3 minutes, so they actually have a shorter match than the title switch? They don't get to do a lot. Sheik does some stomps and what not, and then Hogan makes a comeback and wins with the Legdrop.
