ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling January 4th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA In the back, Eddie Kingston's knee has been attacked, but nobody knows who did it. Claudio comes out for the match vs. Kingston, and wants it to be a forfeit, but Kingston hobbles out anyways. Match #1: Claudio Castagnoli w/ The Embassy vs. Eddie Kingston Claudio works the knee and King's selling is fantastic. They didn't have this go long due to the angle, which is fine and makes sense, but it limited how good this could be. Claudio wins with the Neutralizer, which is his Brock Lock. **3/4 Clips air of the Briscoes cutting a promo in the back after Final Battle and they say the Wolves had that coming for a year and they is now six time champions so it's time to MAN UP. Mark calls out the KOW and calls them chickenshits and Jay says they'll just beat they asses again like they did 3 years ago. Match #2: Steve Corino vs. Andy Ridge Fun Corino squash. Cheating just to be a dick, combined with some great offense. He wins with the Sliding C. ** In the back, Fuckmuscle interviews Davey. He says Roderick Strong was his mentor for a while in the No Remorse Corps, and they dominated ROH, but now he has to deal with the monster he created. Clips air of the Aries/Black match from Final Battle and Hog and Prazak recap it. Match #3: El Generico vs. Rhett Titus This was alright. Generico carried it, but Rhett is still very average. Generico's comeback and the finishing run were of high quality. Generico wins with the Helluva Kick and a Brainbuster. **1/2 In the back, Cornette questions Chris Hero about if he attacked Kingston in the back, and Hero says he's done with Eddie Kingston, and he can talk to Hagadorn if he has any further questions. NEXT WEEK: Necro vs. Joey Ryan in a No DQ match Match #4: Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards w/ Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey You know what you get with these two. When they have under 15 minutes, it can be a really awesome sprint. When they have more, sometimes they try to work an actual match and they go out of their comfort zone and kill finishers and do a lot of bullshit. Unfortunately, this was on the lesser quality side of the sliding scale of Davey/Strong matches. The best ones are usually in PWG, go figure. Still, lots of good stuff here, and they only went a little too long instead of like 30 fucking minutes like their more recent ROH stuff. **3/4 |

ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling January 11th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Necro Butcher vs. Joey Ryan w/ The Embassy [No DQ] To the shock of probably nobody, this was good. Pretty much only No DQ for the ending, which is something I will always hate. Necro has his knee worked on, and huge shock, it's good. Joey throws powder in his eyes and Nana and Osiris get in, but Erick Stevens runs out to save with a chair. He then hits Necro with it and joins The Embassy. Joey covers to win. **1/2 A video airs on Kenny Omega. Clips air of Steen's turn on Generico. In the back, Cock is with Colt Cabana. He says the three of them have been friends for years and he doesn't know what Kevin is thinking and it blew his mind. He said Steen was a little off in the ring since Ladder War II, but if anything, he was actually nicer to El Generico and they had a better bond. He says he needs to focus on his match tonight, but he wants to know why Kevin did this. Match #2: Colt Cabana vs. Tony Kozina Fun Cabana match as usual. Good matwork, etc. Cabana wins with the Billy Goat's Curse. **1/2 In the back, Shithead talks to Kingston. He grabs the mic and makes him leave. He says he came to ROH to get rid of someone, and he can finally move on, he thinks. Maybe he can go for the belts now and show everyone just how good he is, but then he got jumped last week from behind. He says he has no problem fighting anyone anywhere, and this is the action of a coward, and he knows it was Chris Hero, because he's the biggest coward here. NEXT WEEK: Black/Cabana vs. Aries/King Match #3: Kevin Steen vs. Alex Payne This was another great squash. Really stiff and brutal offense. Package Piledriver ends it. ** Steen tells the camera post-match that Mr. Wrestling is back. NEXT WEEK: Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe Match #4: Chris Hero w/ Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey vs. Kenny Omega Awesome match. They got like 15 minutes and really got to be fantastic. Hero guides him through matwork before taking over with elbows and boots. Really disgustingly brutal Hero control segment. Omega has an awesome comeback and dive, and yeah. Great finishing run. Omega avoids the loaded elbow and gets a roll up to win. *** |

ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling January 18th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Sonjay Dutt vs. Delirious w/ Daizee Haze Hey, we have the first under ** match of 2010. Great work, you two! Pretty boring and awful stuff again and Delirious wins. *3/4 A promo airs from right after Black/Aries at Final Battle, and Aries is bloody during it. He says for 60 minutes, Tyler Black was great, but he wasn't the greatest, and that's why he's still Champion. He says this Pick Six is meaningless and he's dodging nobody. No idea why they're spacing out all these post-Final Battle promos when the show was a month ago. In the back, the Briscoes talk about their match. They agree not to go for Mark's knee, or go for the balls or eyes, and that the winner buys beer. A video airs of the Kings of Wrestling in Japan on tour for NOAH, and they've recorded a message for ROH. Claudio says he's been #1 in the Pick Six for a month now, and he has yet to receive word of a title shot since everyone is talking about Tyler Black deserving a rematch. Hero says he's #3, and they're the top contenders to the ROH World and Tag Titles, but they're here proving that they're the best. He says NOBODY has ever kicked out of the KRS-ONE and when they come back, the belts are theirs, because KINGS REIGN SUPREME. Match #2: Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe This is probably their most restrained match. Nothing's going to touch their absurdly and shockingly great August 2002 match (seriously, what the fuck was up with the amazing psychology in that match?), but it was better than their 2003 match. Not as completely batfuck retarded with headdrops and shit as their 2007 match. They sort of just did stuff in front of a shitty crowd with no real story. Jay gets a roll up on Mark to win. **3/4 JUST SIGNED FOR 1/29 IN LOS ANGELES: AUSTIN ARIES VS. JUSHIN LIGER! I enjoy them actually promoting house shows on the TV now. Match #3: Erick Stevens w/ The Embassy vs. Unnamed Jobber Good Stevens squash. Lots of great power offense and a great Lariat. He wins with the Doctor Bomb. *1/2 Another post-Final Battle promo airs, this time from Tyler Black. He says he said he wouldn't lose, and he didn't, and he will not give up until his day comes, and it will come. Match #4: Tyler Black/Colt Cabana vs. Austin Aries/Kenny King This was what it was. Cabana and Aries were both good, and most of the Aries/Black stuff ruled. Kenny clearly doesn't belong in the main event. Don't know how many times I can keep saying this. They're clearly hoping if they keep booking him and Rhett with top guys, they'll become that way, but it's not happening. Cabana hits King with the Coly 45 to win. **1/2 A promo video airs to promote the 1/29 show in LA: -Aries vs. Liger -KOW/Wolves vs. Briscoes/Bucks -Jerry Lynn vs. Kenny King -Necro Butcher vs. Erick Stevens in an Anything Goes Match -Steen, Generico, and Cabana will also be in the same building for the first time since Final Battle |

ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling January 25th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Jim Cornette is in the ring to open the show. He brings out Aries and Black to the ring and announces the rematch between them for the belt on the 8th Anniversary Show on 2/13 in NYC. Black says Aries knows he cannot beat him man to man, and he ran and hid to save his belt, and all he needs is this one last chance. Aries says Black deserves no rematch. Cornette says this will be a wrestling match, not a track meet. He says Aries is one of the best wrestlers alive, which makes it all the more troubling that he's a gutless coward. He says in the event of a draw this time, there'll be three judges to determine a winner. He says to be fair, they each get to pick one judge tonight, and he'll pick the third. Match #1: The Briscoes vs. Up in Smoke Great UIS performance. Some awesome bumps and double teams from them. The Briscoes pretty much let them do their stuff and didn't shoehorn in their bullshit, for the most part, so this was shockingly good. Disappointingly, Jay won with the Military Press DVD, which is pretty much a jobber killer move. TREAT UP IN SMOKE BETTER. **3/4 Prof. Fuckworth interviews them in the ring. Jay says it's a new year but the same story, and they're still the best. He says they don't appreciate the Kings ruining their celebration, and the American Wolves come out. They say they're the most dominant force in ROH and they're entitled to their rematch and they're taking the belts back. DERP THE HUNT IS ON. DIE. Dark City Fight Club also comes out and referees break up a three team fight. In the back, Shitstain interviews El Generico. He asks how he feels about Final Battle, and Generico has no words. He asks if there's anything he'd like to say to Kevin Steen. He has this amazing hurt look on his face, but can't say anything. Colt Cabana comes over and pats him on the back and leads him away. Generico being heartbroken about the turn instead of just going to revenge is fantastic. Match #3: Rasche Brown vs. Bobby Shields Shitty Rasche squash again. 1/2* Match #4: El Generico vs. Kenny King Again, Generico carries one of the ANX fucks to an average match. This is more about the Steen/Generico angle than anything though, as Generico is off his game due to being distraught over losing his best friend. He does a great job of this without making it totally obvious, so you can still think he's trying to be a professional about it. King avoids the Brainbuster and gets a roll up for the upset. BOOOOOOOOOO **1/2 At the end of the show, Cornette has Aries and Black out again. Aries brings out his judge, Kenny King, who is already back in street clothes and not sweaty at all. That...hmm...that's fishy. Black brings out his judge, Roderick Strong! Cornette asks why he agreed and Strong says he trusts Tyler Black and Aries is a weasel, which he knows better than anyone. He says on top of that, Tyler Black promised him the first ROH Title match when he wins. Cornette then names himself as the 3rd judge to make sure everything stays fair. |

ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH SoCal Showdown January 29th, 2010 Los Angeles, CA In the back, Colt Cabana addresses the camera while El Generico is gettng ready. He says his friend Generico's been a little down in the dumps since Final Battle. He says he's gone through some stuff and what usually gets him up in spirits again is wrestling and having a good time, so he got them a tag team match tonight, and he's going to try and show his friend a good time. Match #1: Colt Cabana/El Generico vs. Scott Lost/Scorpio Sky This rules. Lost looks like he absolutely belongs in ROH, and it's a shame 2010 is his last year wrestling since he's been at that level of talent since 2005 or so. Generico plays to the storyline really well, managing to do all his shit clean but also seem like his mind is elsewhere, despite Cabana trying to cheer him up. Generico seeming annoyed when Cabana tries to engage him with double teams and high fives is so fucking amazing. Generico is isolated and Lost and Sky both look great. Colt has a great hot tag and Scorpio Sky is beat with the Helluva Kick and the Colt 45. *** Match #2: Necro Butcher vs. Erick Stevens [Anything Goes Match] Good brawl, but it seemed somewhat restrained due to being the second match. Good weapon use, crowd brawling, etc. Pretty much the kind of Necro Butcher performance and match you'd want with No DQ. Joey Ryan runs out to help Stevens, since Nana and Osiris aren't here, but he accidentally hits Stevens with a stop sign and Necro gets the pin post-match. **3/4 They beat down Necro post-match. Match #3: Roderick Strong vs. Delirious Better than their last match, since they had a good crowd and it was only 13 or so minutes and more action packed. It's still, you know, Strong vs. Delirious and they don't mesh, but it was mediocre instead of just shitty. Strong wins with the Sick Kick and Gibson Driver. **1/4 Match #4: Tyler Black vs. Joey Ryan This was really good. I like Black a lot more against a strong heel personality like Aries, Hero, Claudio, or in this case, Joey. His sleazy basic heel stuff makes Tyler's fancy shit stand out a lot more. Joey injuring the arm helped add some good psychology to this as well. He had some good arm work, but Black can't sell a limb for shit. Black wins with God's Last Gift. **3/4 In the back, Human Tornado cuts a promo. He says he's going to beat Kevin Steen and get revenge for what he did to his friend and former tag partner El Generico. Match #5: Jerry Lynn vs. Kenny King Kudos to Lynn for actually starting this as a grudge match with punches and fighting. That being said, this was still Jerry Lynn vs. Kenny King. They wrestled it more logically than expected, but neither is still a complete wrestler and they don't mesh well. King gets too cocky at the end and Lynn gets a cradle for the win. **1/2 King attacks post-match, and he brings in a chair. Lynn gets it though and kills him with it. He hits a Cradle Piledriver on the chair in revenge, and the referee reverses the decision so King wins by DQ. Lynn doesn't care. Earlier tonight, Steen cuts an amazing promo. He says he figured LA would be a great time like usual, but everyone just loves Him so much and admires Him. People are coming out of nowhere to take His side to stick up for him. He says you know who he's talking about and he's not going to acknowledge him or even say his name. He says all he wanted was to be left alone to achieve the things he wants in his career, but all he can hear is his name. He says he's going to start paying attention to people who want to stick up for Him, and they're going to learn a lesson he learned. Sticking up for Him, and being by His side only leads to one place. He says he never had anything against Tornado before, but now he does after Tornado stuck up for Him. Steen refusing to even say Generico's name is INCREDIBLE. Match #6: Kevin Steen vs. Human Tornado God damn shame that these ROH matches early in the year are Tornado's final pro wrestling matches due to a fucked up knee. Because he's still just SO fucking charismatic and entertaining. Steen is even better maybe. Getting enraged at Generico masks at ringside (much like the one I own!), being a huge dick on offense, etc. Tornado is pissed and both men bring the HATE. Steen gets actual legitimate heel heat, being one of like 5 top guys in ROH to ever do that, along with Punk, Rave, Jacobs, and Corino. Tornado had awesome comebacks and a beautiful dive. Steen wins with the Package Piledriver. ***1/4 Steen puts on a Crossface now, until Colt Cabana comes out. Steen lets go and gets in Cabana's face. Cabana asks Steen why he's doing all this, but Steen walks off and refuses to answer. Match #7: Austin Aries vs. Jushin Liger LIGER DELIVERS AGAIN! This absolutely should have been the main event, it's fucking Liger. Whatever, it's still great. Aries is a piece of shit and messes around with Liger, doing an amazing full nelson on the horns of his mask. Liger then knocks him stupid with a Shotei and starts to humiliate Aries in revenge. Aries bleeds after stuff on the floor and Liger works on it. Aries shoves Liger off the top to the floor to take over though, and that was great. Not a long control segment, but oddly, it really worked as the theme here is Aries biting off more than he can chew. Some really awesome counters and reversals going into the finishing run. They each kick out of Brainbusters, but avoid each other's huge kill stuff with Aries' 450 and Liger's Super Brainbuster. Aries pulls the ref in front of Liger to distract him, and then he hits a low blow and a second Brainbuster to win. This alone was better than most ROH matches in 2009, if not all of them. ***1/2 Match #8: The Kings of Wrestling/The American Wolves vs. The Briscoes/The Young Bucks This is the Bucks' last ROH match before they go to TNA, not counting HDNet shows that have yet to air from an early January taping. This absolutely didn't need 27 minutes, since Claudio and Hero are the only ones who have business doing it, but this was slow enough early on with enough different combinations that it almost seemed like it was worth 27 minutes, but then they clearly only had like 15-20 minutes of good stuff. Obviously this is best when the KOW are in. The heel control seg was fantastic. Some awesome KOW offense and then counters from everyone else. Big finishing run, some good, some bad, and Eddie Edwards makes one of the Bucks tap to the Achilles Lock. **3/4 |

ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling February 1st, 2010 Philadelphia, PA In the back, Cornette says both Strong and Black have asked for a match against each other tonight for personal satisfaction. Feels like they should have done Strong/Black before last week's angle. Match #1: Delirious w/ Daizee Haze vs. Rhett Titus Hey, this sure was below average. They did stuff and Delirious won. *1/2 A pretape airs from Roderick Strong. He says he asked for this match tonight because he wants to beat Tyler Black before his title match with Aries, so if Black wins, there's no doubt in anyone's mind that he deserves an ROH Title shot. And holy shit, Strong did a better job of explaining why he wanted this match than Jim Cornette. World's over. Everyone go home. In the back, Fucking Fuck interviews Steve Corino. He says that footage of Final Battle was one of the greatest things he's ever seen, and he doesn't care what anyone else says. He says Steen has always had the tools to be World Champion, but he's been held back for years by that leech, and Generico got what he deserved. Kyle says they were best friends, and Corino came along and suddenly they were done. Corino asks who's saying that, and if it's just Cabana and Generico. He calls SUGARFOOT~ over and asks how he feels. He says what Steen did was disgusting and they should both be ashamed. Steen walks up behind him and grabs him by the hair and beats the shit out of him. Steen asks if he should be ashamed, and Corino says no. He says to give him one more and Steen kicks him, and they leave. Corino asks if anyone else has a problem. Match #2: Colt Cabana vs. Sonjay Dutt Cabana tries to carry this wretched shit as much as he can, but this is more Sonjay's style than Cabana's, before Cabana wins with the Billy Goat's Curse. *3/4 Another pretape airs from the Kings of Wrestling. Hero says at one point, they were the most dominant tag team in pro wrestling, not just ROH, but they had their differences. He says they've both matured and they are stronger and better than ever. He says the Kings are back, and Claudio says they're back for the titles and they will get them, because KINGS REIGN SUPREME. In the ring, Fuckshit is with Prince Nana and Shane Hagadorn and he asks how they got the Kings back together. Nana says money and power is their connection, and Eddie Kingston comes out. Eddie says he doesn't care which of them represents the Kings and he wants them both to tell him that the Kings jumped him and to tell him where they are. They both deny it and say Hero and Claudio are in Japan. Nana says it wasn't the Kings, and it was these guys, and Joey Ryan and Erick Stevens come out to attack King! The Embassy beats down on Kingston, BUT NECRO RUNS OUT TO SAVE! FUCK YEAH! Match #3: Roderick Strong vs. Tyler Black Good stuff from them again, but not quite great. Aries comes out with a bucket of popcorn and a glass of wine to watch. Strong being more aggressive was nice. Aries throws popcorn in the ring. They never really got out of first gear though and Black shoves Strong into Aries on the apron and rolls him up to win. **1/2 Strong and Black both run off Aries. ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling February 8th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Jim Cornette brings out Tyler Black to open the show and asks about last week. He says the way he won last week was not intentional and come this Saturday, he promises to beat Austin Aries and win the ROH Title. Roderick Strong comes out and says he heard him just now and everyone saw what happened last week, and he swore he would rule in favor of the better man on Sunday, and he will still, but he wants Black to just admit that if not for Aries last week, he wouldn't have beaten him. Black takes offense to this and says if it means that much to him, fine, and he admits it. They shake hands and Black says when he's champion, Strong will never beat him. Match #1: Kevin Steen/Steve Corino vs. Bobby Dempsey/Alex Payne Real good squash. The jobbers had good offense in between Steen and Corino killing them. Steen hits the Package Piledriver, but refuses to cover. He puts on the Sharpshooter and the ref stops it. ** Match #2: Dark City Fight Club vs. The Bravado Brothers This was a good squash. DCFC are great at squashes, just shitty at actual competitive stuff. *1/2 Hilariously, the hype graphic for Wolves/Bucks tonight shows the Wolves still with the tag titles. That's okay, you've only had two months to update these things. Coming back, that fucking scum is in the ring with Austin Aries and Kenny King and asks about Tyler Black this Saturday. He says Jim Cornette was out here coaching the golden boy earlier, but he gets this horrible interviewer. He says last week reeked of desperation from two men who are destined to be second best. Aries then throws in a line about fucking Black's girlfriend, who hasn't been established or mentioned AT ALL before now, and Black runs out angry, but is held back by the locker room. Ahahahaha what the fuck? Match #3: The American Wolves w/ Shane Hagadorn vs. The Young Bucks This was not as good as their first match, which was probably as close to a miracle match as these two teams will get. This had a lot more of the flaws you'd expect from both teams. Contrived shit from the Bucks, overly fake INTENSE~ stuff from the Wolves, etc. The Bucks win with a roll up on Davey. **1/2 |

ROH World Champion: Austin Aries, Since 6/13/2009 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH 8th Anniversary Show February 13th, 2009 The Manhattan Center New York, NY http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_LduF4mlE_g#t=298s Watch this promo before the show, with Steen and Cabana. Indescribably amazing stuff. In the back, Tyler Black cuts a horrible promo about how he's tired of falling short. Good content, but way too long. Amazing how a guy like this who spent 2 years hanging around with maybe the 2nd or 3rd best promo cutter in ROH history (I say 3rd maybe because you can make an argument for Steen after his 2010, but Punk is clearly #1), and pick up nothing. Match #1: Roderick Strong vs. Brian Kendrick This is good stuff. Totally different from their superior PWG match, but whatever. That probably would not have gone over as well in ROH, since that was based on Kendrick working the hand to avoid chops. This was more of a back and forth movefest. They're good at that, so I enjoyed this. Kendrick was great as basically just THE Brian Kendrick in terms of his offense and how he approaches matches. Strong wins with the Gibson Driver. **3/4 Match #2: The Kings of Wrestling w/ Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey vs. The Bravado Brothers Just an AMAZING squash from the KOW. The Kings now have Ribera Steakhouse jackets and plaques from a NOAH tournament in January. Anyways yeah, just a ton of absolutely incredible offense from both men individually and then as a unit. The Bravos were fine jobbers and had some good offense before they got killed by the KRS-ONE. This was on that rare level of tag squashes with some of the best of the Steiners and the Headshrinkers. **1/2 In the back, The Embassy says they're going to embarrass Necro and Kingston tonight by outfighting them. Match #3: Necro Butcher/Eddie Kingston vs. Joey Ryan/Erick Stevens w/ The Embassy [No DQ] This was great! Violent, bloody, not overlong, etc. Really everything I trust a Necro match to be, and the other three are all good too, so that's about what I expected. Necro uses his usually awesome plastic bag choke on Joey Ryan, but turns it into a Rear Naked Choke too, and he passes out for an AMAZING finish. *** Match #4: El Generico w/ Colt Cabana vs. Davey Richards w/ Shane Hagadorn Colt is there to coach Generico, since he's been a little off lately. They do a good job working to this story, with Cabana having to repeatedly psyche up Generico early on, and it allows Davey to dominate. He works on the arm with some cool stuff, and Generico's selling rules. Unfortunately, he kind of forgot about the arm in the usual Davey-ish finishing run, which was stupid, since this ends with a Jujigatame from Davey. **3/4 Davey actually offers a handshake to him and condescendingly applauds, SO GENERICO SLAPS HIM IN THE FACE AND LEAVES! FUCK YEAH! Davey shrugs, which makes sense, since he's a piece of shit himself. Anyone who says Generico is nothing but comedy is retarded, but besides that, they clearly stopped watching before 2010. Match #5: The Briscoes [c] vs. Dark City Fight Club [ROH World Tag Team Championship] This sucked again. Let's be honest, this Briscoes reign is blatantly a transition from the Wolves to KOW, but ROH being ROH, they're trying to pretend otherwise by giving the Briscoes a few defenses when everyone already knows who they're losing to. And as a result, nobody really gives a shit. Doesn't help that these teams have no chemistry. The Briscoes win, moving on. *3/4 Match #6: Steve Corino vs. Kenny King vs. Rasche Brown vs. Delirious w/ Daizee Haze I love Corino, obviously, but I have no interest in this, as there's only so much he can do. Plus, Corino's never really been a "carry people" type of wrestler. He's more your classic guy who's better with angles, promos, and big grudge matches than a guys who's super consistent. Too much Rasche bullshit. Delirious beats King with the Shadows Over Hell. *3/4 Before the next match, Cabana gets on the mic. He says this was only supposed to be a verbal confrontation, but Steen demanded it was a match between them. He reads Kevin Steen's AMAZING letter out loud, and here it is: http://forums.prowrestling.com/showthread.php?t=95912 Cabana apologizes if he ever hurt Steen's feelings and he wants his friend back. Steen says he never expected that and he appreciates it, but he still has to do this, AND STEEN HITS HIM WITH THE MIC! Match #7: Kevin Steen vs. Colt Cabana More of a match to go into an angle, but it was really good for the 6 minutes it lasted. Tons of hate and fire from Steen, and all their shots looked really great. Steen is knocked to the floor and Cabana gets on the mic and tells him he wants to talk now. Steve Corino comes out and the match is now pretty much over and the angle begins. **1/2 Corino yells at Kevin to get in for him, and he gets in. Cabana punches Corino and throws him out. He says he knows there's still a man inside him that knows he was wrong and he needs to stop being a bitch and do the right thing. He asks why he's following Corino, and Steen goes to hit him, BUT EL GENERICO RUNS OUT AND FACES OFF WITH STEEN! Steen doesn't do anything, but Corino comes back in and attacks Cabana and throws him out. Corino gets the chair, but Generico grabs it from him. He goes to hit him, BUT STEEN STEPS IN FRONT OF GENERICO! GENERICO STOPS AND HE CAN'T DO IT! STEEN GRABS THE CHAIR THOUGH AND HE HITS GENERICO! BOOOOOOOOOOOO! He puts on the Crossface and Corino stomps on Generico, but Cabana gets in and gets the chair, and he chases them off. Hype video for the main event. The three judges come out. Match #8: Austin Aries [c] vs. Tyler Black [ROH World Championship] Aries telling everyone this is going 60 minutes and opening with stalling is great. Apart from that, this really dragged in the first half. Really all over the place offense from Aries, lacking focus. They do some stuff in the finishing run, and it's really just not there tonight, for whatever reason. Strong takes out King on the apron ,but then Black Superkicks Strong! He kicks Cornette too, and then Aries, and he hits the Phoenix Splash to win the belt. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO **3/4 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 I lack the 2/15 ROH on HDNET episode, so moving on. ROH Wrestling February 22nd, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Clips air of Tyler Black winning the belt last weekend. Match #1: El Generico vs. Rhett Titus Generico carries Rhett, but due to story, this is less good than their last match. This is once again a story of Generico being heartbroken after the events of the last show, and it allows Rhett to get him in an inside cradle for the upset. ![]() **1/4 In the parking lot, Erick Stevens and Necro Butcher have begun brawling. Match #2: Colt Cabana vs. Bobby Shields Entertaining Cabana squash for 2 minutes. Billy Goat's Curse ends it. *3/4 Steve Corino comes out with the mic and tells him to be careful who he sticks up for. NEXT WEEK: Wolves vs. DCFC! NO THANKS! The brawl in the parking lot is finally broken up now In the back, Jim Cornette announces that in two weeks, a tournament for the new ROH TV Title will begin. Good idea, but considering who wins, horrible idea. Match #3: The Briscoes [c] vs. The Young Bucks [ROH World Tag Team Championship] Not as good as their NYC match last year, but still good shit as far as insane spotfests go. Unfortunately, it took a while to get going as they tried to make it a real match, but that wasn't good and nobody was really into it until they made with crazy spots. The Briscoes win with the Doomsday Device. **3/4 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling March 1st, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Again, clips air of Black winning the title. Match #1: The American Wolves w/ Shane Hagadorn vs. Dark City Fight Club Hey, nope. When not against some combo of Danielson/Steen/Generico/KENTA, the Wolves really kinda suck as a team. As wrestlers, even. God damn, this blew. Dull, plodding, bullshit fake intensity. Eddie is much better as a babyface than as a heel though, so there's that. Davey sucks as a face, so that evens it out. The Wolves win with a move. idk. *3/4 A video airs of recent Rasche squashes, where both Nana and Hagadorn were watching. Match #2: Steve Corino vs. Bobby Dempsey Another great and brutal Corino squash. Dempsey had some good jobber offense too and had a great Tazplex. Corino then got a leverage pin for the win. *3/4 Bobby attacks post-match, but Kevin Steen comes out to attack him. Alex Payne runs out to save, but Steen kicks him in the dick. He busts him open and rubs the blood on his face, and then hits THREE Package Piledrivers. SUGARFOOT is dead and Corino hugs Steen. Match #3: Rasche Brown vs. The Set Bullshit Rasche squash again. Fuck this guy. 1/2* Both Hagadorn and Nana come out with contracts for him, but Rasche walks past both of them. Match #4: Sara Del Rey w/ Shane Hagadorn vs. Portia Perez Quite the good match. SDR is a total killer in there, but Portia has a lot of fire and takes huge bumps. SDR wins with a Piledriver. ** TV TITLE BRACKET: -Kevin Steen vs. Rhett Titus -Colt Cabana vs. Eddie Edwards -Davey Richards vs. Delirious -El Generico vs. Kenny King Match #5: Tyler Black/Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries/Kenny King This was average. Pretty much the exact definition of average. It really didn't help that this was mostly Kenny King in there either, since he is still really really mediocre. Black accidentally Superkicks Strong and King covers him to win. **1/4 Black and Strong shove each other post-match. |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ROH Wrestling March 8th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Clips air from backstage after 8YA, and Cornette is yelling at Black. He said he wanted to make him the franchise here, but after he kicked him in the face, he's only worried about what's best for ROH. Oh no, he's going to do the job he was originally signed to do! Shit's real now! In another segment from after, Aries says Black has at least 1000 rematches before he got it done, and he wants his rematch. In ANOTHER segment from post-8YA, Strong is yelling at Cary that he did his job and Black kicked him in the face and he wants his title shot as soon as possible. He tells Strong to talk to Cornette and Strong says this is bullshit. In a pretape, Cornette announced the next iPPV on April 3rd, called The Big Bang, and he will announce the main event tonight. Match #1: Kevin Steen w/ Steve Corino vs. Rhett Titus [TV Title Tournament - Quarterfinals] This kinda blew. Steen worked the arm, but Rhett didn't sell it at all, and this was more about showcasing Rhett than Steen's stuff. Rhett has a ton of new contrived offense that looks like shit. Steen wins with a Crossface. ** In a pretape, Cornette is in a studio with Black, Strong, and Aries. Cornette says Black has asked for the next shot to be against Strong, but he's doing what's right for ROH, so he books Black/Strong/Aries for the ROH Title in a three way dance for the iPPV main event. Strong says he was promised a one on one title shot and he's been screwed again. Cornette and Strong yell at each other, and again, Strong somehow makes a more valid point than Cornette by saying he was promised a one on one title match for weeks now where as Cornette just yells that he thinks more people want a three way. Aries says he and Black should get rid of Roderick first, so Black tells him to fuck off. Strong yells at Black now and calls him a liar for promising that title shot, and Cornette has to restrain them. Briscoes/KOW is also signed for Big Bang. Match #2: The Kings of Wrestling w/ Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey vs. The Bravado Brothers Just as great of a squash as in February. A ton of really incredible offense and the Bravados took an awesome beating. KRS-ONE ends it. **1/4 Post-match, Hero gets on the mic and says they will regain their Tag Titles on April 3rd because KINGS REIGN SUPREME. A recap airs of the Necro/Stevens brawl. In the back, Prince Nana implores Rasche Brown to join the family, because dollar signs are in their future. Match #3: Rasche Brown vs. Caleb Konley Awful once again. 1/4* In the back, Colt Cabana says he's excited to be the Champion of TV. Shitstain asks about Generico. Cabana says he's not the best, but he's getting better day by day, and he's trying his best to help him. He thinks the TV Title tournament will give Generico something to focus on that isn't Kevin. Steve Corino comes over and says Steen advanced as he expected, and he tells him to stop worrying about Generico, and he's tired of warning him not to stand up for El Generico. Match #4: El Generico vs. Kenny King [ROH TV Title Tournament - Quarterfinals] Better than Steen/Rhett, I guess. Also the best Generico vs. ANX match in 2010 yet, although this is hardly a series that needs to continue. King wins with a Super Catatonic. LAME. FUCK YOU. STOP PUSHING THESE MEDIOCRE PIECES OF SHIT. **1/2 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH Gold Rush March 19th, 2010 Dearborn, MI In the back, Black and the Briscoes cut a horrible promo about their six man. Match #1: Rasche Brown vs. Rhett Titus This was mediocre. Rhett did stuff and SKULLFUCKER won with a mediocre Burning Hammer. *1/4 In the back, Shane Hagadorn cuts a horrible promo about his stable. Match #2: Kenny King vs. Tyson Dux Both men looked good when doing spots, but struggled to fill time otherwise, and the middle of this dragged hugely. King hits the Shotgun Double Knees and the Royal Flush for the win. ** Before the next match, Steen gets on the mic. He says a while back, Player Dos beat him in Toronto, and let's be honest, that was a miracle, but he'll deal with him tomorrow. He says his focus now is on his partner, and Steen runs out and attacks the injured Player Uno. Dos goes after him, but Steen Powerbombs him on the apron and hurls him into the crowd. Corino asks Pee Wee if he's stupid enough to want him to unleash Steen on him and if he actually thinks he can win, and Pee Wee says yes. Match #3: Kevin Steen/Steve Corino vs. Player Dos/Pee Wee w/ Player Uno No idea who Pee Wee is, but he's subbing in for an injured Player Uno. Shockingly good. Pee Wee has a godawful name but does alright for himself on offense. His selling is overly goofy. Steen and Corino's control seg is good and violent, and Dos has a killer hot tag. Steen and Corino win with the Package Piledriver followed by the Sliding C. **1/2 They go after Uno on the floor, but Dos gets a crazy dive to save his partner, and they leave. Good build for Steen/Dos on the next show. Match #4: Austin Aries vs. Petey Williams Ugh. Typical Petey bullshit. Aries made it not exactly horrible, but it still really wasn't very good. Contrived, no story or selling, etc. Way more Petey than Aries, and of lesser quality than their 2009 match. Aries hits the Canadian Destroyer on Petey, BUT HE KICKS OUT AT 1! WAY TO NO SELL YOUR OWN FINISHER! JESUS CHRIST, YOU SUCK! Aries wins with using the ropes. ** Match #5: El Generico/Colt Cabana vs. The House of Truth w/ Truth Martini Generico and Cabana ruled, but HOT again brought nothing to this. Their control seg was just the worst stuff, and this never really got great until the finishing run of offense from the faces. Generico has his customary hot tag and dive. Josh Raymond gets hit with the Helluva Kick and BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH and the faces win. **1/2 They celebrate, but Steve Corino comes out. He says he's tried to warn him to leave El Generico alone and to stay out of their business, but he's done warning him, and tomorrow night, he's going to hurt him. Match #6: Roderick Strong vs. Kenny Omega This was really good. The best match of the night so far. Some awesome spots, counters, and what not, but still flawed, due to Omega completely refusing to sell the back at all. Strong wins with the Gibson Driver. **3/4 Match #7: Tyler Black/The Briscoes vs. Chris Hero/The American Wolves w/ Shane Hagadorn FUN FACT: There was a time when ROH main events didn't need to go 30 minutes as a rule! In fact, a lot of times on B-shows such as this, they ended in 20 minutes or less! Yeah, so 30 minutes was kind of excruciating at points. Hero was the only one who was really good the entire way through, since the others all kind of took the first 15 minutes off. Control seg on Black was good, but then after he tagged out, they did another one and it just kind of dragged. Finishing run is more Wolves than Hero, and the Briscoes beat Hero with the Doomsday Device. **3/4 Lackluster show. |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH Epic Encounter III March 20th, 2010 Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Bobby Cruise announces that Mark Briscoe and Roderick Strong will miss the show due to injuries, and Tyler Black comes out. He challenges Aries to come out now, since he doesn't have to wrestle Strong tonight. Aries comes onto the stage, but then King and Titus come from the crowd to attack. Jay Briscoe and Tyson Dux come to save, but Aries attacks them. Rasche Brown then comes out to save everyone. Awful. Aries says he has a 4th man and challenges them to an 8 man tag later. Match #1: The House of Truth w/ Truth Martini vs. The Flatliners Hey, awful squash. Both teams suck, whatever. HOT wins. I hate everything. *1/4 Match #2: Kevin Steen vs. Player Dos w/ Player Uno Steen comes out in a CABANARAMA headband, and this rules. Steen is again a completely hateful piece of shit, and Dos is really fantastic in this. Really crisp dives and offense, and takes some crazy bumps for Steen. Some really awesome nearfalls at the end, but Dos kicking out of a Package Piledriver was ridiculous. Nobody should ever kick out of that, especially a lower card jobber to the stars. A 2nd one does it though. *** Steen hits a third one post-match, because he fucking can. Match #3: Eddie Edwards [c] vs. Petey Williams [ROH Television Championship] Again with the continuity problems. Eddie won the tournament at the tapings, but the finals have yet to air. And oh my god, this was just as bad as everyone could have seen coming. Contrived offense, no real story or charisma from either man in terms of making anything in this interesting, etc. Eddie sort of works the arm, but gives it up in the finishing run and Petey's selling is the worst. Eddie then wins with the Achilles Lock. So why not work on the leg then? *3/4 The eight man is next, and Austin Aries brings out Adam Pearce as their partner. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Match #4: Tyler Black/Jay Briscoe/Tyson Dux/Rasche Brown vs. Austin Aries/Kenny King/Rhett Titus/Adam Pearce There is no way I deserve this. Aries is good....and that's about all I have to say. They do some stuff. The finishing run is decent enough. Way too much Pearce and ANX on offense in the middle for this to really be good. Black beats Rhett Titus with God's Last Gift. **1/4 Match #5: Colt Caabana vs. Steve Corino This was really good and fun and had a lot of good stuff, but something was just kind of missing and held it back from really being great. I don't know what, exactly. Cabana gets on the Billy Goat's Curse, but Kevin Steen comes out to attack him for the DQ. **3/4 They beat on him, but Generico runs out with a chair, and Corino and Steen leave. Match #6: El Generico vs. Chris Hero w/ Shane Hagadorn Well this was fucking great. Awesome matwork, and then Hero took over with elbows. Generico was the best babyface in the company again. Taking huge bumps, sympathetic selling, fiery comebacks, etc. Hero was Hero. Brutal offense, good bumping, and what not. Generico was still a little shaky, and it allowed Hero to dominate more than usual. Hero winds up just drilling Generico with blow after blow at the end, but he won't stay down. Hero puts on the Stretch Plum, and Generico passes out. ***1/2 After Hero leaves and as Generico is being helped up, Kevin Steen comes out with the mic. He says that was a hell of a match, and he gets in the ring. He says Generico was incredible, and he needs him to listen. He also calls Colt Cabana out because he wants him to hear this too. Cabana wants to fight him, but Steen says to listen and trust him and asks him for a few minutes of his time so he can clear something up. He says it's been 3 months since he did what he did at Final Battle, and he did it because he wanted him out of his life. But Generico keeps coming back and he keeps wondering why he comes out and stares, if it's because he wants an explanation or if it's because he wants to do something about it, and asks who the hell he's kidding with that clenched fist. He says six years ago, he met him and despised him, but he wanted to be a wrestler and it seemed being Generico's opponent everywhere was the best way to do it. But about two years ago, maybe two and a half, something changed in him. He realized one day, that he actually LIKED El Generico, and thought they were almost like brothers. And he was fine with that. But it took losing the Tag Titles because of Generico's knees to make him realize it, and it took him being alone on ROH shows after Ladder War II and feeling some kind of emptiness without Generico to make him realize it. He was THIS close to retiring because he didn't feel like wrestling was right for him anymore, and everyone loved it when they hugged and Generico cried. BUT THAT MOMENT WAS ABOUT HIM, NOT GENERICO! AND WHEN HE KICKED HIM IN THE BALLS AND HIT HIM OVER THE HEAD WITH A CHAIR, HE WAS REBORN, AND IT WAS THE GREATEST FEELING OF ALL TIME! He says Generico was a parasite that was eating him alive, and Cabana will realize it soon enough. He says he sees things clearly now, and there's his explanation, and he tells Generico to get the hell out of his face and his life now. BUT GENERICO SHAKES HIS HEAD NO! Steen says that if the explanation wasn't what he wanted, maybe he does want to do something about it, and says this is a great place for him to do it. Cabana says to do it too and Steen dares him to hit him. Steen says he's not a man, but Cabana gives Generico a chair. STEEN EVEN GETS ON HIS KNEES AND DARES GENERICO TO GET HIS REVENGE! GENERICO HESITATES, AND CORINO RUNS OUT TO ATTACK HIM! Steen rolls out, BUT GENERICO HITS CORINO WITH THE HELLUVA KICK! YEAH! Corino rolls out and leaves with Steen, and Generico seems legitimately mad at himself. THIS IS AMAZING! Match #7: Davey Richards vs. Kenny Omega Shockingly great. A lot of that has to do with them not working limbs and just going out and doing a ton of crazy offense. Davey had some great dick heel moments in his control segment too. Davey can be a great heel, it's just that when he works a limb, a lot of times it goes nowhere and is no-sold, so I'm glad this all came together well. Weirdly, Davey did a few minor things on the arm, and now Omega sells it really well, as opposed to when people do long work on his limbs and he ignores it. I thought it went overlong at 24 minutes or so, but I guess I'm glad they didn't go 30. Kudos to them for managing to do mostly engaging back and forth for 20 minutes of that. However, the finish sucked. Davey no-sells the Croyt's Wrath at 2 to counter the bridge into the 14:59 for the win. I'll go *** because it had a lot of great stuff, but yeah. *** |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH From the Ashes March 26th, 2010 Phoenix, AZ Match #1: Colt Cabana vs. Human Tornado vs. Rasche Brown vs. Johnny Goodtime vs. Joey Ryan vs. Shawn Daivari Daivari being in ROH now and in The Embassy is absolutely fucking atrocious, but MAH NIGGA JOHNNY GOODTIME IS HERE! And I think this is Tornado's last weekend in pro wrestling too. Tornado, Goodtime, and Cabana really shined here, making this a fun opener. Dragged down by Daivari and Rasche both being awful, but then Cabana gets Goodtime in the Billy Goat's Curse to win.**1/2 Match #2: The Kings of Wrestling vs. Scott Lost/Scorpio Sky Really fantastic KOW showcase. Sky and Lost do well, but this is all about putting the Kings over before the PPV on April 3rd. The PWG guys aren't used to working face, so this was awkward at points, but still really good. Claudio somehow does a DOUBLE GIANT SWING and they kill Lost with the KRS-ONE to win. *** Match #3: Rocky Romero vs. Alex Koslov Good stuff again, but nothing really amazing. Some fun exchanges, and they didn't overstay their welcome with 7 minutes. Good play on the Final Battle finish, with Koslov countering the Diablo Armbar into a cradle for the win. **1/2 In the back, Prince Nana hypes up Bison Smith and says he's been brought back to destroy Necro tonight. Necro comes out for his match, but Bison Smith and Prince Nana attack him from behind. They have a really awesome brawl into the crowd and back to ringside. The rest of The Embassy comes out, but Necro gets the ring bell, and he fights them off, and The Embassy bails. Horrible that we again didn't get Necro/Bison. Match #4: Kevin Steen vs. Kenny Omega This was good fun, but not as great as Steen's most recent work. Steen is infuriated at the "OLE!" chants. This is more of a traditional ROH match with the matwork, blown off limb work by Omega, big headdroppy finishing run and not as hate filled and violent as Steen can do. Steen works the arm, but Omega no-sells it entirely. Steen wins with the Crossface. **3/4 Match #5: El Generico vs. Steve Corino This delivers the goods. Corino's more old school heeling and offense is a great contrast to Generico, but the crowd really sucked. Lack of reactions sort of took away from Corino's control seg, but Generico had a great comeback and what not. Steen comes out and Generico is distracted, allowing Corino to get a roll up with the ropes for the win. **3/4 Generico attacks Corino with the Helluva Kick, and Steen drags Corino out. Generico shoves refs out, and Cabana comes out to fight Steen and Corino, but they back off. Cabana gets on the mic and he says he's sick of them playing around and El Generico is sick of it too, and he challenges them to a tag team match at The Big Bang. Match #6: Tyler Black vs. Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong [Gauntlet Match] Black vs. Aries is up first, and then Strong faces the winner of that. They work well together, but at this point, what Aries and Black can do together has been pretty much exhausted. They also pretty clearly held back from doing a big run of offense and Black wins with a schoolboy. Strong is in next and they have a fun run of offense. Strong hits the Sick Kick and Gibson Driver for the win over the champion. **1/2 Match #7: Jerry Lynn vs. Kenny King [No DQ] Surprisingly good. Probably due to it being a garbage match and weapon use making up for neither really being good on the whole in 2010. They use tables and ladders well. The table doesn't break after Lynn hits a Sunset Flip Powerbomb on it, so he puts King through with a Cradle Piledriver for the win. **3/4 In the back, The Briscoes say they're going to treat the Wolves like their pitbulls back home. MAN UP Match #8: The Briscoes [c] vs. The American Wolves w/ Shane Hagadorn [ROH World Tag Team Championship] Their match at Final Battle showed this pairing to not have great chemistry together, and went on too long at about 24-25 minutes. So here, they have a shittier crowd than NYC and bring no real new ideas to the table, but now go 27 minutes. Fucking ROH. Great planning here. Way too much bullshit no-selling at the end and kickouts of moves that shouldn't be kicked out of. The Briscoes beat Eddie with the Doomsday Device. **1/4 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH Phoenix Rising March 27th, 2010 Phoenix, AZ Match #1: Kenny Omega vs. Rocky Romero I have absolutely no idea what happened here, but this was fucking great! Romero really just eats Omega alive to begin, dominating on the mat, hitting a dive, and then killing him with strikes. Omega's nose is busted, causing him to get really aggressive on Romero's face. Omega being aggressive and mad is actually pretty great. They have some awesome exchanges. Romero works on the knee, AND OMEGA ACTUALLY SELLS! He hits a one-legged Croyt's Wrath for the win. *** In the back, The Embassy cuts a promo. Joey says they'll win their 8 man with Claudio on their side tonight, and Daivari says he's going to make an example out of Tornado tonight. Match #2: Shawn Daivari vs. Human Tornado You know what? Fuck this. Fuck this. Tornado's last match is having to try and cover for Daivari being absolutely horrible. He botches almost everything and has awful strikes. AND THEN DAIVARI FUCKING WINS. HE FUCKING WINS. DON'T GIVE A SHIT THAT HE CHEATED, TORNADO'S LAST MATCH EVER SHOULD NOT BE JOBBING TO DAIVARI. FUCK YOU, ADAM PEARCE, DELIRIOUS, DAIVARI, JIM CORNETTE, AND RING OF HONOR. *1/2 Match #3: Kevin Steen vs. Scott Lost Really fantastic sprint. Lost tries t offset Steen's brutality by throwing everything he has at him, and they have a wonderful bombfest. Lost has some really insane and inventive offense. Can't wait to bring in Arrogance to WCW in 2004. Steen counters by being violent and aggressive, and he wins with the Package Piledriver. *** Match #4: The Briscoes/Necro Butcher/Rasche Brown vs. Claudio Castagnoli/Joey Ryan/Bison Smith/Prince Nana Good stuff. Claudio is pretty clearly the best guy in this, but this isn't bad at all. Good pace, crowd responded well, not overlong, etc. They kept Rasche out of there and Nana again did wonderfully as a manager in a tag match. Control seg on Necro was good stuff. Finishing run happens, and The Briscoes beat Claudio with the Spike Jay Driller. **1/2 Match #5: Kenny King vs. Scorpio Sky This was really disappointing, on Sky's end. It was a bullshit X Division athletic~ match with a ton of stuff that made no sense and had no real story besides the moves. Sky made his name as a really athletic high flyer in Aerial Xpress, but they were a great team because they understood the idea of making shit matter and being a classic tag team. Then as a heel, he still got that idea, and toned down his flashy stuff to just be a dick heel. So I have to assume this was King's work. He wins with the Royal Flush. ** Before Corino vs. Lynn, Corino gets on the mic. He says Lynn owes him for trying to hold him down and beat him up when he was a young guy in ECW, but he's a forgiving guy. He says they can be smart about this and right now, they can rob the people of this match! He says they don't have to do this, because they're the veterans here, and Lynn might not be that smart, but he is, and there's no reason to punish their bodies like they used to. Lynn says he won't do that, and since he brought it up, he liked it last night and challenges Corino to an OLD SCHOOL ECW HARDCORE MATCH YEAH BACK WHEN IT WAS THE REAL ECW CHEAP POP. Fuck you. It's NXT at this point, you out of touch bitter fuck. Match #6: Steve Corino vs. Jerry Lynn [Hardcore Match] This was fun. Pretty clearly led by Corino in terms of smartly setting up weapons and selling and all the little things that he does to make matches like this work that other people don't do. Lynn isn't much, but this match is hardly about him. It's there for a nostalgia pop, while also advancing Corino's storyline. This had some downtime in the middle, but they had some huge enough insane spots to even it out. In an awesome callback, Lynn tries to use Corino's blood to write DIE on his chest, except this time, Corino low blows him on DI. Generico runs out though and he hits Corino with the Helluva Kick and Lynn hits the Cradle Piledriver on the chair to win. *** Match #7: El Generico/Colt Cabana vs. The American Wolves w/ Shane Hagadorn Generico is opposite the Wolves again, meaning Davey and Eddie have a team that can carry them almost as well as Steenerico did. Cabana carries the Wolves through some fun European matwork. Generico was a fine face in peril as usual. Wolves didn't really bring a lot to this like they did during the Wolves/Steenerico feud. Cabana had a great hot tag, and the finishing run was good. This was 15 minutes, so there wasn't a ton of overkill. Eddie is put in the Billy Goat's Curse, and Generico hits Davey with the BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. He can't save, so Eddie taps out. *** STEEN RUNS IN, AND HE HITS CABANA WITH THE CHAIR! STEEN TAUNTS GENERICO TO HIT HIM AND THROWS THE CHAIR AT HIS FEET! GENERICO SPITS IN STEEN'S FACE, AND THEY GO NOSE TO NOSE! BUT CORINO ATTACKS GENERICO FROM BEHIND! They stomp on him, but Cabana gets back in with the chair and runs them off. I love this feud. Match #8: Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black [Gauntlet Match] This is all kind of messed up with a lot of turns, but I'll review it as it happens. The order is changed up now, as Strong and Aries start. They work well together again, and this is less played out than Aries/Black. They have some nice stuff. However, when they fight on the top, Strong loses his balance and falls down through the announce table. They work it well so that it comes off as a legit injury, but his "slip" was clearly fake. Strong is helped to the back with an injured arm and Aries goads Black to come out and face him now and goads him into putting the belt on the line. They do their usual thing, BUT STRONG COMES BACK OUT! Cornette comes out and makes it a three way for the belt. Why yes, that IS the main event for the next iPPV in a week being given away for free to these people! LOLROH. They do have a pretty awesome three way thing going on in the final 5 minutes or so. Strong kicks out of God's Last Gift, so Black puts on a Fujiwara Armbar on the hurt arm, and he taps. **3/4 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes, Since 12/19/2009 ![]() ROH THE BIG BANG (IPPV) APRIL 3RD, 2010 CHARLOTTE, NC The debuting Kevin Kelly and Dave Prazak introduce the show in the ring. They hype up the big matches, and the luchadore matches, which was a deal made with the local promoter to get some cheaper prices on the equipment for an iPPV and help promoting the show. It absolutely does not show, as the building looks about half full. LOLROH. Match #1: Phil Shatter vs. Zack Salvation Two local indy dudes doing whatever for 7 minutes. Fine for a pre-show match, ROH does this all the time, but this has no business on a main show or especially iPPV. Nothing special from either man, and Shatter eventually wins with a Spinebuster. *1/2 Match #2: Davey Richards vs. Kenny King w/ Rhett Titus Typical Davey fare. He's a situational face here, which means he gets to no-sell, in his mind. They do a lot of mediocre stuff in the first half, since neither man really knows how to fill time before doing spots. Although Davey used to, in 07-08. Shame what happened there. They no sell egregiously and Davey puts on his absolutely dreadful Texas Cloverleaf for the win. **1/4 Prazak gets in to interview Davey, and he says he's setting his sights on the ROH World Championship because he wants to be the best in the world. BUT CHRISTOPHER DANIELS COMES OUT TO MAKE HIS RETURN OMG! He gets in the ring and says Davey can say that all he wants, but after 3 years, he's come back to prove that HE is the best wrestler in the world, and says Davey and whoever walks out as Champion tonight are all on notice, because the Fallen Angel is back to fulfill the destiny he set 8 years ago! Good angle, but it's not 2002-6 anymore, so I am not excited for Daniels' matches in ROH. That being said, him using "Disposable Teens" really does emphasize just how much ROH is missing with the old theme music (despite the Wolves, Black, Hero, and Steen all having good-great newer generic themes), as he comes off as a bigger deal because of it. Match #3: Necro Butcher vs. Erick Stevens w/ Prince Nana [No DQ] This was good, no shocker there. Not totally nuts, but still chaotic while being restrained. Necro takes some completely lunatic bumps and they both have some fun strikes. Necro taking a press slam off the apron to the floor was a highlight. Necro is fucked up after that and has some awesome selling. He does manage to get a schoolboy for the win though. **3/4 Match #4: Cassandro vs. Rhett Titus Cassandro is awesome. He's an exotico from Mexico, which means he dresses as a woman sometimes and does gay spots. But he also has some insanely fluid and crisp lucha stuff. Seeing him in person at the 2008 TPI was really really awesome. Rhett Titus is a horrible guy for him to face though, since he's absolutely not on his level and is lost trying to keep up. Rhett fails to catch him properly on a Tope Con Hello, and his leg is fucked up. They go for a little longer and improvise a roll up win for Cassandro to win. Great job, Rhett. **1/4 Match #5: El Generico/Colt Cabana vs. Kevin Steen/Steve Corino This was great. Awesome work by both guys, but on top of that, they build SO well to a Steen/Generico fight all through it. There's a ton of situations where they barely miss each other or Generico doesn't want to hit him, and it gets the crowd really really hot for it when it happens. The Cabana/Steen and Cabana/Corino and Corino/Generico exchanges were all really great too. Cabana is a great face in peril and Corino and Steen have a lot of great offense on him. Generico gets the hot tag and it is fantastic. Cabana puts Corino in the Billy Goat's Curse, but Steen hits him with a chair for the DQ. *** Steen DDT's Cabana on the chair seat and he is bleeding. They work on the cut and they throw referees out. Generico gets back in and he punches Corino and throws him out. Steen holds Cabana up in front of Generico, AND HE SLAPS HIM WITH A HAND COVERED IN CABANA'S BLOOD! GENERICO HITS STEEN WITH THE HELLUVA KICK! GENERICO PUNCHES AT STEEN, FUCK YEAH! GENERICO GOES NUTS AND CORINO PULLS STEEN OUT! GENERICO DIVES ONTO THEM! Corino drags Steen to the back AND GENERICO HITS A REFEREE WITH A BRAINBUSTER! AND ANOTHER! Steen is in shock on the floor and Cabana gets on the mic and says El Generico is BACK! He then challenges them to a Street Fight in Chicago on 4/24. This is amazing. The ROH tag titles have been replaced with new belts. Match #6: The Briscoes [c] vs. The Kings of Wrestling w/ Shane Hagadorn [ROH World Tag Team Championships] This didn't need 30 minutes, but the Kings manage that kind of time better than most people in ROH. Only other people I'd trust in ROH for over 25 is Generico and Cabana, and that's with the right opponent. The Briscoes control early on with a lot of their great double teams. It began to drag a little but then the KOW took over and that was great. Mark had a good hot tag, but then he got shut down and the Kings got more vicious on the 2nd control seg. Lots of brutal strikes and power moves. He gets the hot tag, and they have a good finishing run. I have a few issues with the finishing run in terms of booking, as the last few minutes seem like it belongs to the second match in a series. The KRS-ONE is kicked out of, which is ridiculous in and of itself, but whatever. Then the actual finish. This was structured with the Kings as a dominating force that the Briscoes couldn't handle like it's Vader/Sting, but then in their first match, the Briscoes show themselves to be able to do it and get screwed by the Loaded Elbow. Seems like that should be the finish of the second match. That being said, this is an awesome match and gets the belts on the best act in ROH, the Kings of Wrestling. *** Tyler Black also debuts the new belt: ![]() I don't honestly have an issue with this belt. It's generally alright, except that it's not the ROH World Championship. Which was such a great looking title. Yeah, that was a UWF Title knockoff, but for whatever reason, the ROH Title belt is better looking than the UWF one. Maybe the letters ROH just look better on that kind of belt. The original belt was simplistic and yet grand. A lot of belts have the trouble of just looking strange on certain people, but the ROH World Title looked good on everyone who wore it. Even guys like Lynn or Black that didn't deserve it. I'm probably an old ROHBot getting nostalgiac, but if we're listing all time favorite belts, I'd go: 1. Big Gold Belt 2. ROH World Championship 3. Attitude Era Eagle Belt 4. WWF Tag Team Championship 5. WWE Championship (2002-2005) Match #7: Tyler Black [c] vs. Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries w/ Kenny King [ROH World Championship - Three Way Dance] This also didn't need 30 minutes, but it was better than I expected. A lot of really really insane spots between all three of them, and Black took some insane bumps off the apron from Strong. Started to drag a little when it was Black vs. Aries, since again, that's been done to death and they have nothing new. Strong is out first at around 25 minutes after Rolling Brainbusters. Ugh. Black vs. Aries AGAIN, and Aries accidentally runs into Kenny on the apron. Black hits God's Last Gift to win. **3/4 King and Aries attack post-match, but Strong runs back out to save. He runs them off, and Black offers a handshake, but Strong refuses and walks off. |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Kings of Wrestling, Since 4/3/2010 ROH Wrestling April 5th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Steve Corino vs. Bobby Shields Usual good Corino squash. Sliding C ends it after Colt Cabana comes out to watch. *3/4 Corino calls Cabana down to the ring to face him if he wants in his business so much. Cabana gets in the ring and Corino says he just wants to talk to him man to man. He says he's told him twice now to be careful who you stand up for, because this is his last warning. AND CABANA HITS CORINO! He drives him out of the ring, and this really should have aired before their singles match in Canada. Match #2: Dark City Fight Club vs. The Set Usual DCFC squash. *1/2 A video airs to hype Lynn's return. NOOOOOOOOOOO Match #3: Erick Stevens w/ The Embassy vs. Pelle Primeau Awesome squash. Pelle just absolutely dies on everything and is the best jobber in ROH history. He has some nice underdog offense before Stevens wins with the Doctor Bomb. ** They keep attacking him, but Necro Butcher runs out to save with a chair. Match #4: Chris Hero vs. Jay Briscoe Both tag partners are there on the floor. Typical good Hero carryjob. Guides Jay through matwork leading into a great Hero control seg, etc. Lots of nasty elbows and boots, and Claudio interferes a lot on the floor. Jay makes a solid comeback, etc. Mark chases Claudio to the back, distracting Jay, and Hero wins with the Death Blow. **3/4 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Kings of Wrestling, Since 4/3/2010 ROH Wrestling April 12th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Clips of Aries/Black/Strong air to open the show, recapping the main event of the Big Bang. Jim Cornette brings Tyler Black out to the ring and asks about the three way. Black says Aries is smart and he's pitted he and Strong against each other, but now he has Aries' number, and that won't change. He brings up Roderick Strong and says says he doesn't know what's going on with Roderick lately, but in the end, he's looking out for himself. Cornette says Strong blaming his failures on other people isn't the mark of a real man. I'm sorry, what? What failures? He's beaten Black twice in the last 4 months or so, and when Black promised him a one on one match as his first defense, he got a three way instead. Strong has every reason to be mad. He says he can beat Aries and Strong, and then Davey Richards comes out! He says Black's been playing a lot of games over the last year, but he'll be straight with him. He wants that belt, and he's going to get it. DERP THE HUNT IS ON. Laughable delivery on that. The Jerry Lynn return video airs again. Match #1: Jerry Lynn vs. Jake Manning Jerry Lynn bullshit. Whatever. Cradle Piledriver ends it. *1/4 Fuckmouth comes in to interview Lynn and says he's coming for Kenny King. CONTINUITY ERROR. A recap airs of the KOW/Briscoes title switch. In the back, Steve Corino cuts a promo. He says he never intended to wrestle El Generico, and says El Generico was never part of his plan for he and Steve Corino, but he'll teach him a lesson tonight to stay out of their business and he says Generico will never forget tonight. El Generico comes out for the match, but Corino comes out, still in a suit. He gets on the mic and asks if the people chanting OLE! makes his heart warm. But what warms HIS heart is knowing his best friend is Kevin Steen. He says to compare himself, a loser and a freak, vs. him, a certified legend. He says men who wear masks are hiding, and Generico is hiding behind the fact that he was never any good and if he died tomorrow, nobody would really care. He says he used to listen to the people and so did Steen, but they don't really care. He says he was wrong calling Generico a cancer when he talked to Steen. "BECAUSE YOU CAN CURE CANCER! YOU, EL GENERICO, ARE FULL BLOWN AIDS! You're incurable and part of a disease that attacks an unmoralistic person." For some reason AIDS was bleeped. He says he only cares about himself and Kevin Steen and this match isn't happening, and he forfeits! Generico has his hand raised and Corino takes off his jacket. He says he's not going to fight, but he did that because it's hot in here, and Generico won't do anything to him. He says Steen was right, and El Generico never will be anything without him. AND GENERICO HITS CORINO! FUCK YEAH! He lays into him with punches and rips his shirt and tie and it is amazing. Corino bails, AND GENERICO DIVES ON HIM! Referees and people come out to pull them apart. NEXT WEEK: Davey/Kenny King in the semi-finals Match #2: Kevin Steen vs. Eddie Edwards w/ Shane Hagadorn [ROH TV Title Tournament - Semi-Finals] Strange how all the semi-finals are heel/heel matches. Poor planning there. Steen carries this with some awesome violent arm work. Of course, Eddie refuses to sell the arm at all, and is just the worst. Generico comes out for a distraction, and Eddie gets a roll up to win. Awful. **1/2 |

ROH World Champion: Tyler Black, Since 2/13/2010 ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Kings of Wrestling, Since 4/3/2010 ROH Wrestling April 19th, 2010 Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Colt Cabana vs. Ricky Reyes Reyes was horrible and dragged this down from Cabana's usual level. Cabana wins with the Billy Goat's Curse. *3/4 Clips air of Generico/Cabana vs. Steen/Corino at The Big Bang. An interview airs from Corino after the match. He says every plan has some room to maneuver in, and he never thought Generico would show some guts, and he blames Cabana for pulling the strings. He says they're the most evil men here, and Cabana made this personal and he's on the list now. Steen is sitting down and says it's not that he was afraid of fighting El Generico, but he didn't want to be responsible for killing him. But that's not going to be a problem for him anymore. He says Generico showed guts tonight, but very soon, everyone will see El Generico's guts. Match #2: The Briscoes vs. The House of Truth w/ Truth Martini UGH FUCK. Them being on HDNet means they're getting booked more. This wasn't much. The Briscoes win. *3/4 Match #3: Davey Richards vs. Kenny King [ROH TV Title Tournament - Semi-Finals] Again, typical Davey bullshit. This time, he has arm work and King refuses to sell that so that they can trade poorly executed and contrived sequences with copious no-selling. Davey wins with a Jujigatame. So why not sell the arm? *3/4 |
