NWA X-Division Champion: Kid Kash, Since 2/12/2003

NWA-TNA
April 23rd, 2003
Nashville, TN

In the back, Raven is sitting down and he cuts a promo. He quotes the chorus of "Changes" by David Bowie and says now it's Jeff Jarrett's turn to face the changes, because in 10,080 minutes, his destiny and his birthright will come to fruition, and Jeff Jarrett's title run will have come to an end. He says tonight, his Gathering will give him the ultimate sacrifice, and he will drop the mother of all bombs on Jeff Jarrett.

In the parking lot, Gilberti and Sanders talk. The rest of SEX shows up late and yeah. Gilberti yells at them all for being late, and slaps Siaki. They order SEX to the locker room, and when they leave, AJ and D'Lo then run over and attack Gilberti and Sanders, and fight with them into the ring. The bell is then rung.

Match #1: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown vs. Glenn Gilberti/Mike Sanders
AJ and D'Lo make an awesome team. Once again, AJ is clearly the best dude in this. The work on AJ's leg by the heels was good, and AJ's selling was awesome. D'Lo gets the big hot tag to clean house, but then Triple X runs out to attack AJ and D'Lo for the DQ.
**1/2

Lynn and Red come out to save, but then Siaki and David Young come out and SEX lays out Lynn and Red, so both are hurt going into their #1 Contender's Match tonight.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Jeff Jarrett. He says he doesn't understand Raven's cryptic bullshit and nobody understands it. He says he'll get extreme with him, and he's going to be the hunter for once. Erik Watts comes on and says he has a belt just like that one. He asks what happened to peace, love, and understanding. Jeff says he doesn't have time for his bullshit, and Erik pulls out a straightjacket, and he says he'll talk to Raven tonight. Jarrett says that crazy son of a bitch is going to get killed, and it'll be the best thing for him.

In the back, Chris Harris has been laid out, and it is supposed to be Triple X vs. AMW in a #1 Contender's Match next!

Triple X comes out and Skipper says the ref should just award them the match right now, since James Storm, as stupid as he may be, is not stupid enough to try and fight them by himself, and they can wait a little longer for that tag title shot. James Storm runs out though, and the match is on.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper vs. America's Most Wanted [#1 Contender's Match]
Harris limps out a few minutes later. This is not their best match, due to the angle, but it is still really good. Harris' KO selling is really good, and the XXX control segment is wonderful. Really good hot tag from Harris and the finishing run had their usual abundance of great nearfalls. Harris has Skipper for the Catatonic, but Daniels kicks him in the dick from behind and Skipper turns it into a cradle for the win. It's on the border, but I liked it enough to put it at...
***

AMW argues post-match, and James Storm walks out on him!

In the back, Alexis Laree is walking, BUT JEFF JARRETT RUNS OVER AND HITS HER WITH THE TRASH CAN!

Match #3: The Sandman/Perry Saturn/New Jack vs. Mike Awesome/The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell [ULTIMATE SIN MATCH]
The ropes are wrapped in barbed wire and weapons are hanging from the ceiling and poles. This is once again a really fun garbage match. Tables, blood, ladders, etc. Justin Credible came out and got a baseball bat from the ceiling using a ladder. Saturn then just KILLED Slash with it for the win.
**1/2

A pretape airs with Tenay interviewing Kid Kash. He says Trinity has a personal services contract with him, not with TNA, so she does what he says and he's going to teach her a lesson tonight.

Match #4: Kid Kash vs. Trinity
This happened, I guess. Kash did a good job bumping for her. The ref got bumped and then Sanders and SEX came out. They hit Kash with the H Bomb now, and put Trinity on top for the win. Okay then?
*3/4

In the back, Mitchell yells at Slash for losing, and says he now has to redeem himself. The camera then catches Vince Russo walking in the background, but he sees it and quickly walks back out of frame. Ahahahahaha.

Shark Boy comes out for a match, but Slash runs out behind him and beats him down. He gets in the ring and pulls out a dagger. He holds it to Borash's throat, and unfortunately, doesn't just cut his throat, but demands a match with Justin Credible right now. He comes out, but the bell never rings. The rest of the New Church and the ECW guys all come out, and they have another really chaotic awesome brawl. Really doesn't do much to put over the brutal match they had earlier, but it was a fun brawl. SANDMAN STARTS SWINGING AROUND A SINGAPORE CAN ON FIRE TO CLEAR THE RING! FUCK YEAH SANDMAN!

Erik Watts comes out with his straightjacket, and he calls out Raven to the ring and says he wants to talk to him. Instead, Julio comes out. Watts says he's not here for violence, but he says he wants Raven, not him. Julio attacks him, but Watts then Chokeslams him. Laree then comes from behind and gets a low blow! They beat on him, and completely spitting in the face of that feud they've had for the last few months, Jeff Jarrett runs out to save. Jeff hits Julio with The Stroke, and then he sets up a table. He puts Julio on the table and gets Alexis up top. He then Powerbombs her off the top and onto Julio and through the table!

Konnan comes out to commentate on the next match.

Match #5: Jerry Lynn vs. Amazing Red [X Division #1 Contender's Match]
This is fun. Not really great or anything, but it had some fun spots. Kind of a backdrop for an angle, unfortunately. Red looked awesome again, with his huge bumping and offense. Konnan tries to say he's quicker than Red. The ref is bumped again, and Ron Killings runs out. He hits Lynn with a Gourdbuster, and then tells Konnan they need to talk. They leave together, and Red gets up to see Lynn down. Red hits the Infrared for the win.
**3/4

In the back, Erik Watts goes into a room looking for Raven, and he finds him there. Raven immediately attacks him, and hits the Evenflow on the floor! Raven then leaves the door open, and steps outside!

Hype video for Raven/Jarrett again.

In the back, Raven is back in his locker room. Jeff Jarrett comes walking in, and Raven just fucking nods and is all like "There we go..." and the fight is on again. They fight through the crowd and into the ring, and it rules. Jarrett grabs the straightjacket during the brawl, and he hits Raven with a chair. He tries to put it on him, BUT THE LIGHTS GO OUT! THEY COME BACK ON, AND THE ECW GUYS ARE IN THE RING! THEY ATTACK JARRETT! They put Jarrett in the straight jacket as Raven laughs. They wrap Jarrett in barbed wire now, except for Sandman, who's just hanging out behind them, contemplative. Raven takes the kendo stick from him and beats Jarrett with it to end the show.

Match #1: America's Most Wanted vs. Perry Saturn/Justin Credible vs. The Harris Brothers vs. The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell [#1 Contender's Match]

This was alright. Credible is a big step down from New Jack and Sandman, although I doubt they would have been contributing much here, since it was a normal match. Saturn and AMW particularly impressed. The Harris Brothers sucked, and then Credible and the New Church contributed little bits here and there. AMW continue to have a little bit of an issue. Saturn hits Storm with the DVD to win. Really don't want to see XXX vs. Saturn/Phen.
**1/4

In the back, Goldilocks interview Gilberti and he is mad at Raven for abandoning them for this Team Extreme or whatever and says no matter what, SEX would have the World Title soon enough.

In the back, Jerry Lynn says he's tired of being a doormat for every new guy that comes through here, and it's no more Mr. Nice Guy, and tonight will see a brand new Jerry Lynn. Yeah, okay. Sure.

The stipulation for the next match is too long to fit in a bracket and not destroy how the title would look. It's Lynn vs. Daniels. If Daniels wins, then it's all three XXX members vs. Lynn/Red for the tag titles next week. If Lynn wins, then it's Lynn/Red vs. one XXX member of their choice for the belts. Sort of an obvious outcome, since Low Ki has been gone for a month and a half.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels vs. Jerry Lynn [Stipulation Match]
This is fine enough. Nothing really flashy or outstanding, but nothing bad. Lynn counters an attempted low blow with one of his own, and he gets a schoolboy for the win.
**1/2

In the back, Team Extreme goes up to SEX and asks where Raven is. Gilberti says he thought Raven was with them after last week, and Saturn says he hasn't been answering his phone all week and Gilberti says he doesn't know where Raven is either! OMG WHERE IS RAVEN?!

In a pretape, AJ Styles is asked who he thinks will win tonight. He says he doesn't care who wins, because he's getting his second shot soon. He says he's learned what he has to do, and when he gets that next NWA Title shot, he will be the heavyweight champion.

Match #3: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown vs. David Young/Sonny Siaki w/ Desire
AJ and D'Lo are again a great team. AJ has a new totally insane dive that I never knew he was capable of with an absolutely gorgeous Springboard SSP Plancha. All the SSP Planchas I've seen have this certain degree of recklessness to them, and it works for guys like Mark Briscoe and Paul London and Evans and PAC, but AJ's just looks so insanely graceful. Best comparison is Evan Bourne's Moonsault to the floor. Anyways, the match. Siaki blows, but David Young is a fine lower card heel. AJ invents the Pele kick here. Awesome spot where D'Lo back drops Siaki over and AJ catches him and hits the Styles Clash! A big later on, D'Lo beats Siaki with the Lo Down.
**3/4

A pretape airs with Tenay and Ron Killings & Konnan. They complain about being tired of racism in wrestling, be it against blacks or latinos.

The TNA girl Lollipop does her slutty dancing, and then OH GOD NO. A mannish woman in a slutty schoolgirl outfit attacks her, and yep, it's Tracy Brooks.

In the back, Raven is sitting and cuts a promo. He says his former allies and current allies see his destiny, because they know that only Raven can take the title. He says Jeff Jarrett is about to suffer a tremendous loss, the loss of something he worships in the NWA Title. He says he sympathizes with Jeff Jarrett, having to fight a man with fate on his side, but he will do what he must. Quote the Raven. Nevermore.

Match #4: Chris Sabin vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Jason Cross vs. Shark Boy [Elimination Match]
Enjoyable spotfest. Rave and Sabin are clearly the best two, but then unfortunately, Rave is out first after the Dead Sea Drop from Sharkie. Cross continues to really bring nothing to the table and Sabin beats him with a Muscle Buster after he misses the Crossfire. Sabin then also hits Shark Boy with the Future Shock, which is his Fisherman's Buster, for the win.
**1/4

In the back, Erik Watts hands the stolen NWA Title back to Dusty Rhodes and sucks up to him. Dusty says he's full of bullshit, but Erik leaves and Dusty says he's one crazy son of a bitch.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Kid Kash, and he says he's suspended Trinity for making a fool out of him last week.

Match #5: Kid Kash [c] vs. Amazing Red [NWA X Division Championship]
Another really good Red showing. Kash actually brings it too, with some awesome nasty heel work, keeping it basic. He dodges a Red dive and then throws a chair at his face to take over. Red takes some amazing bumps to make Kash's stuff look deadly. There's a ref bump and then the mystery luchador runs out and hits Kash with a Reverse DDT! RED COVERS AND RED FINALLY WINS THE BELT! YES! Red's title win really should have been a bigger deal given how into him the crowd was, BUT FUCK THAT, GOTTA BUILD KASH VS. TRINITY!
**3/4

NEXT WEEK: A special Gauntlet For The Gold named ANARCHY IN THE ASYLUM, which is the same idea, but with weapons allowed.

Hype video for the main event.

Match #6: Jeff Jarrett [c] vs. Raven w/ The Gathering [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
There really is this kind of a special feeling around this. It might be nostalgia, but it's also hard to describe. It feels like a title change, but there's also this somewhat palpable feeling that this match is what everyone, EVERYONE, is waiting for. It's a feeling TNA has rarely, if ever, duplicated again. Anyways, as for the match? It's really good. Total smoke and mirror bullshit festival, but it's fucking Raven and Jarrett and they're both great with that kind of thing. Jeff did an amazing job getting over the idea of paranoia and losing his cool and this sense of desperation while also seeming like he knows his time is probably up. Raven getting the best of him at pure wrestling made it even worse. It's the kind of Ace doubting himself performance I'd expect from someone like Cena or Joe or Misawa or Bret. Not QUITE at that level, but close. Raven keeps taking advantage of Jeff's overeager actions. They sort of jump into the finishing run too soon and go to finishers too soon, but it's still really good. A table is used and then interference begins. SEX interferes, but then the New Church fights them off. This is the point at which it gets ridiculous. Team Extreme runs out and handcuffs Jarrett and Saturn and Credible hit a FUCKING SUPERKICK CONCHAIRTO! THE LIGHTS GO OUT! SABU IS IN THE RING, AND HE FIGHTS OFF THE ECW GUYS! YEAH! AWESOME! Another referee runs out with a "universal handcuff key" and unlocks Jarrett. Raven hits the Evenflow though, BUT JARRETT KICKS OUT?! AHAHAHA NOPE. THAT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT. Jeff then quickly recovers with a second Stroke for the....for the win. Wow.
***

I like Jarrett. I like him more than most. Not as much as Biggie, but more than most. Raven should have won the belt there, since this feud brought in a TON of buzz to TNA that wasn't there before, and this really came off like confirming everyone's suspicions that this is just a Jarrett vanity fed. Which, to be fair, it largely was. You could argue that AJ winning the belt from Jarrett later in 2003 is why Jarrett kept the belt, but it could have been done the same way with Raven winning the title for a bit here. Crowd just seems really really deflated.

Match #1: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown vs. Low Ki/Elix Skipper [Winners Go To Battle Royal]

Hey, Ki's back! This was awesome, obviously. Lots of amazing AJ and Ki moments, and the best exchanges were clearly AJ vs. Ki. D'Lo and Skipper held their own, but were smart enough to mostly hang back and let the two masters do their thing. AJ shoots Ki up in the air and D'Lo catches him with the Sky High for the win.
***

In the back, Gilberti is beating up Jarrett in his locker room with crutches and shit. Goldilocks comes over when he leaves and asks what that was about. Gilberti says he's going to win the battle royal tonight, and all of SEX will have his back. I can't believe we're going from Jarrett/Raven to this. Seriously?

Tenay and West go over the Anarchy in the Asylum rules, which now also say falls can count anywhere. So it's basically a huge ass 15 man falls count anywhere match with timed entries. Also, there's two more qualifying matches, including Storm vs. Harris, and the next match.

Match #2: Sabu vs. The Sandman vs. New Jack [Hardcore Match - Winner Goes to Battle Royal]
Fun garbage stuff again. Sandman and Sabu had some great stuff together. New Jack got up to the very fucking top of the building, beyond just the balcony. During the match, they say Jarrett is being stretchered out. New Jack tries a roof dive, but Sabu moves and covers him for the win.
**1/2

In the back, manjaw Tracy threatens to sue for sexual harassment if there isn't a chance for a women in the battle royal, so Bill Behrens books a woman's match to avoid a lawsuit.

A video airs on the recent AMW troubles.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews AMW. Storm says they'll find out once and for all tonight what side Chris Harris is on. Harris is mad and he says he'll prove himself tonight in the ring, and it's all business.

Match #3: James Storm vs. Chris Harris [Winner Goes in Battle Royal]
This was a lot of fun. They play off being tag partners and what not. Lots of really crisp stuff early on, and then they started throwing out some really cool counters to big spots. Storm sits down on a sunset flip attempt and hooks the legs for the win.
**3/4

They shake hands post-match.

Match #4: Tracy vs. Trinity vs. Desire w/ Sonny Siaki & David Young [Winner goes to Battle Royal]
This was awful. Kash comes out and drags Trinity to the back. Young accidentally hits Desire and Tracy wins.
OIHEROFJHREPO

David carries her to the back, but Siaki just walks out.

INTERROGATION: The Harris Bros.

S.E.X. = Great concept.
PR or JAPAN: Japan, more money.
Glen Gilbertti = Pussy.
Clay or Ruban = Which one's the white guy?
Chris Harris or James Storm = Pussies.
Jerry Lynn or Amazing Red = Little Pussies.
H-bomb = Best finish in the business.
Saddam Hussain = Piece of Shit.
#1 of Tag Titles they've held = 25.
Ron Killing & Konnan = Great Stars.
Announcers = Assholes.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Lynn and Red. Red says he's learned a lot from Lynn since they've been friends, and Lynn says he has a lot more to learn about showing integrity and being grateful, and he wants an X Title shot. What a dick.

Match #5: Jerry Lynn/Amazing Red [c] vs. Christopher Daniels (on behalf of Triple X) [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This was awesome. Ki and Skipper come out to interfere and they hit Red in the knee with a chair. This basically turns it into a singles match. The other XXX guys keep interfering when the ref is down, and they cut off Red's comeback. Lynn gets the chair when the ref gets up and he hits Skipper and Daniels, BUT THE REF SEES IT! DQ! AND TRIPLE X WINS THE BELTS BACK!
**3/4

NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Jeff Jarrett, Since 11/20/2002 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
NWA World Tag Team Champions: Triple X, Since 5/7/2003
NWA X-Division Champion: Amazing Red, Since 4/30/2003

NWA-TNA
May 14th, 2003
Nashville, TN

SEX, sans Triple X, is in the ring to open the show, and they bring out the #1 Contender, Glenn Gilberti. He comes out in a suit and he gets on the mic. He says last week was only the beginning, and before the night is over, SEX would take over the rest of this building and brags about beating the living shit out of Jeff Jarrett last week. He says Raven might have helped them last week, but he's only out for himself, not SEX, and that won't fly, and he wants to see where Raven's loyalties lie. SEX says they're extending the olive branch to join them or get wiped out. Team Extreme comes out and New Jack says they're not here to join them, and Gilberti says they need to talk about this, with he and Sandman, but the ECW guys come in and just have a big brawl instead and they clear the ring.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Chris Sabin. He says this is the biggest night of his career going for the X Title. Jerry Lynn then comes on and says he's getting what he deserves, so this is now a three way match. How does he have the authority to do that?

Match #1: Amazing Red [c] vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Chris Sabin [NWA X Division Championship]
Triple X comes out to watch. This is a fun enough spotfest. Sabin looks impressive as a generic high flying guy. Red also rules. Daniels distracts the ref when Lynn is down, and Skipper shoves Red off the top. He hits the Play of the Day on Red and pulls Sabin on top, and Sabin wins the title?!
**3/4

They have a SEX shirt with them and they offer it to Sabin. He looks at the X Title and shrugs before putting on the SEX shirt, so SEX now has the X Title once again.

In the back, Gilberti is hyping up everyone for their matches, including David Young vs. Chris Harris, Sanders vs. Awesome, and XXX vs. AJ/D'Lo for the tag titles. Kid Kash and Trinity come in and Kash says he doesn't want any trouble with SEX, so he gives them Trinity for the night. He leaves, and Trinity is surrounded by SEX. HAhahaahah implied gang rape.

Match #2: Mike Sanders vs. Mike Awesome w/ Father James Mitchell [Tables Match]
This is horrible, but at least short. The Harris Brothers come out to help Sanders and then the New Church comes out to fight them off. Awesome is about to do an Awesome Bomb off the top through a table on the floor, but Gilberti comes out and hits him with a chair, and Awesome falls off through the table on the floor, so Sanders wins.
3/4*

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Chris Harris. He says his number one priority is America's Most Wanted, and he requested a match with an SEX member tonight to prove where his loyalties lie.

In the back, Gilberti is with Trinity all alone, and Erik Watts comes in. He says he's heard that the new director of authority that's being brought in soon will be "Eric from WCW", and he leaves. Okay then. Gilberti says Kash is an asshole and she could do a lot better with SEX. The Harris Brothers come in with Julio and Alexis and they say they couldn't find Raven or Sabu, but they have The Gathering.

Kid Kash comes out to the ring and issues an open challenge. Ron Killings and Konnan come out, and Konnan does commentary.

Match #3: Kid Kash vs. Ron Killings w/ Konnan
This was fine enough. They did some moves and yeah. The Harris Brothers came out to attack Konnan, and Killings then took them out with a dive. As the ref dealt with this, the mystery luchador ran out again and got Kash with a Reverse DDT. Killings then got the pin.
**1/2

It was time for the SEX/ECW summit in the parking lot. Siaki brings beer to keep Sandman's interest and Desire sits on Sandman's lap. David Young is mad at this, since he has an obvious crush on her, and a brawl happens. Both stables join in and they have a pull apart that goes into the crowd. They get separated and Saturn challenges Gilberti to a match later.

A taped interview airs with Tenay and Jarrett. He says he got injured during the feud with Raven and Gilberti attacked his hurt leg and hip last week, so he's going to take a week off and rest. He says the NWA Title is all SEX needs to have complete control over TNA and change the product into what they want.

Match #4: Chris Harris vs. David Young w/ Sonny Siaki & Desire
This was good. They try hard and nothing is really bad. Siaki keeps interfering, so James Storm comes out to attack Siaki. Triple X comes out, and they beat on Storm and take him back to the SEX locker room. Harris doesn't know it and yeah. He wins with the Catatonic.
**1/2

He asks where Storm is, and the camera cuts to the SEX locker room. Storm is thrown out of the room, clearly beaten up and with a bloody lip.

In the SEX locker room, Gilberti talks to Julio and Alexis and says Raven doesn't give a shit about them, but they can be a part of SEX because he likes their heart and dedication. They really need buffer segments between all the SEX stuff. Or just stop doing so much SEX stuff.

Match #5: Perry Saturn vs. Glenn Gilberti
This was kind of a mess for the few minutes it lasted. The Gathering then comes out to distract Saturn and Gilberti hits the Last Dance for the win.
*1/2

In the back, Goldilocks interviews AJ and D'Lo. D'Lo says SEX has been talking out everyone one by one all night and Jeff Jarrett and Raven aren't here, but they are. AJ Styles says while everyone else is gone doing whatever, he's the one who's held down the fort against SEX, and says TNA is his home, and he's not leaving.

Match #6: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper [c] w/ Low Ki vs. AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This was awesome, no shocker there. AJ and D'Lo have a bunch of fluid and amazing teamwork, and then AJ is isolated. Great XXX control segment once again, and AJ is a great face in peril. D'Lo had a fine not tag, and then the finishing run was wonderful. Big awesome dives from both AJ and D'Lo. Gilberti comes in and hits AJ with a shitty looking Last Dance. Daniels schoolboys him and grabs Elix's arm on the floor for extra leverage to retain.
***1/4

SEX all comes in and they start tearing down the NWA logos and shit. They beat down everyone who comes out to try and help. MY GOD, ONLY JEFF JARRETT CAN STOP THEM.

NWA World Tag Team Champions: Triple X, Since 5/7/2003
NWA X-Division Champion: Chris Sabin, Since 5/14/2003

NWA-TNA
May 21st, 2003
Nashville, TN

A video airs to open the show, saying TNA officials have booked two tournaments to restore order, and they will begin tonight.

In the parking lot, Raven is sitting on top of a truck trailer and says three weeks ago, he was denied his destiny, and so was everybody else. He says nobody jerks off in Nashville without Jeff Jarrett owning part of his fist. He says Jarrett is milking his injury and he calls Tenay's voice the literal sound of shit slipping through a drain pipe. BUT FROM THE TREES BEHIND HIM, JEFF JARRETT APPEARS AND ATTACKS RAVEN! They fight on the truck and it cuts out.

TONIGHT: Sandman vs. Siaki in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match with Raven as the referee

Match #1: CM Punk vs. Paul London vs. Jason Cross vs. Kid Romeo [#1 Contender's Match - Elimination Match]
Well, London and Punk are good in this. In an absolutely hilarious classic TNA move, CM Punk is out first after a shitty Neckbreaker from Cross. Romeo eliminates Cross next. London carries Romeo and then hits the Waffleface and the London Star Press for the win.
**1/4

Tenay and West mention the two tournaments:

-THE HARD 10 TOURNAMENT! It is entirely a hardcore tournament, where you get 10 points to win a match. 1 point for a weapon shot, and 5 points for putting someone through a table
-THE ASYLUM ALLIANCE! 8 team tournament. 7 teams have been picked and the final team will be decided by tonight's AJ/D'LO VS. AMW match! AWESOME MATCH! AND THE HANDPICKED TEAMS ARE ALL LETHAL LOTTERY! FUCK YES!

In the back, Siaki tries to give SEX a pep talk, but nobody listens to him.

In the back, Raven finds Julio and Alexis, and he throws Julio against a wall. He says if either of them betrays him again, he'll make sure they never see the light of day again.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper vs. Amazing Red/Justin Credible/Slash
Unannounced and unexplained handicap match? SUP RUSSO. I like that XXX were able to combat the numbers game because of their tag experience. They worked awesomely on Red again. Shit breaks down again and Red rolls up Skipper for the win.
**3/4

Raven then comes out and hits Red with the Evenflow! Everyone else leaves, and Raven gets on the mic. He says he'll continue to leave a path of bodies behind him until he gets Jeff Jarrett in the ring.

In the back, Goldilocks asks Sanders about Hard 10, and he says he can show her all about Hard 10, since that's what they call him in the back. ZING! COCK JOKE!

HARD 10, NEW RULE: You now must also win by at least 2 points.

Match #3: Brian Lee vs. Mike Sanders [HARD 10 TOURNAMENT]
Below average short garbage match. They hit each other with shit and it's like 5-7 Lee. Lee tries a dive off the top through a table, but Sanders moves. Lee goes through, so Sanders gets to 10 points, and Sanders wins.
*1/4

EARLIER TONIGHT: Shark Boy and New Jack play Candyland. Except New Jack cheats and changes the game. He is using a Sandman action figure as his piece and says he won the white woman when he gets to the end. Sharkie gets mad, so New Jack flips the board ever and says he doesn't want to be in the ring with no damn fish. AMAZING/

Match #4: Ron Killings/Don Harris vs. SHARK JACK [Asylum Alliance Tournament]
FUCK YES SHARK JACK! New Jack doesn't do much, but the match is improved by Killings doing all the work for his team. Good short Truth/Sharkie run and then Ron Harris comes out too. They attack everyone, but Killings runs them off and he catches Shark Boy with a Powerslam to win. Ugh. Of course SHARK JACK would go out first. :(
**

The mystery luchador has a video and says he will reveal himself next week.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Erik Watts. He says Eric from WCW is coming, but he doesn't mean THAT Eric. He says she left her shoes under his bed, and they're in his car. She says not on the air, and laughs and they walk off. Forget the fact that this is the start of something horrible, but this implies that she is so much of a brainless whore that not only did she fuck Erik Watts, but that she left his place without her fucking shoes. Amazing.

Raven is back in the ring, and he demands Jarrett. He says he's running out of time and patience, AND RAVEN EVENFLOWS BORASH! AMAZING!

Match #5: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown vs. America's Most Wanted [Asylum Alliance Qualifying Match]
Fun face/face match. For whatever reason though, it wasn't quite great like the matches both teams have been having with XXX. They do stuff, and it's good. The crowd is kind of shitty, which probably dragged it down a little too. XXX comes out and they try to attack both teams. Both teams attack XXX too, and among the chaos and what not, Harris rolls up D'Lo for the win!
**3/4

A video airs on Glenn Gilberti.

Match #6: The Sandman vs. Sonny Siaki [Clockwork Orange House of Fun - Special Referee: Raven]
Raven clearly has no interest here and counts no pin attempts and just sits in the corner. Sandman has some fun moments here to make this not a total waste. Raven hits both men with the Evenflow and leaves.
**

Raven leaves and it becomes an SEX/Team Extreme brawl.

In the parking lot, Raven yells for Jarrett, who is being kind of a bitch on this episode, BUT AMAZING RED JUMPS OFF A CAR TO RAVEN! RED THROWS HIM BACK IN THE BUILDING! FUCK YEAH RED! HE does a bunch of lucha shit to get at Raven and yeah. The Gathering comes out to help Raven, but Red takes out Julio with the 718. Raven takes this time to set up a table, but Red dropkicks him off the apron onto the table! RED HITS A LEGDROP TO RAVEN ON THE TABLE, BUT IT STAYS UP! RED THEN DOES IT AGAIN AND TNA ENDS WITH RED STANDING OVER RAVEN! FUCK YEAH! I really want to see them have an actual match.

NWA World Tag Team Champions: Triple X, Since 5/7/2003
NWA X-Division Champion: Chris Sabin, Since 5/14/2003

NWA-TNA
May 28th, 2003
Nashville, TN

In the parking lot, Gilberti is waiting and tells Julio and Alexis when they come over that he's going to beat Raven's ass tonight.

Match #1: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown vs. CM Punk/Jason Cross [ASYLUM ALLIANCE MATCH]
Hey wait, what? AJ and D'Lo lost the qualifying match last week. Punk and AJ have an awesome exchange and Cross actually does spectacular offense for once. Then AJ and D'Lo again do some awesome tag stuff, so this is better than I expected. They make their comeback and then hit Stereo Frog Splashes for the win.
**3/4

D'Lo gets on the mic post-match, and says it's time for them both to be honest. Neither of them wants to win the tag titles, and he says they're being continually paired together because SOMEBODY fears either of them getting another title shot. He says they both needed to refocus on the World Heavyweight Title and AJ says it's been fun. They shake hands, and then walk their separate ways.

A video airs of Jeff Jarrett in WWA.

NEXT WEEK: JARRETT VS. GILBERTI

Jeff Jarrett comes out to the ring, and people are booing him now. He says he hears the boos and says he guesses everyone thinks Raven got ripped off, but life sucks and then you die. He challenges Raven to come out and face him man to man if he's not too busy shooting up in the back and Raven comes out to a HUGE pop. He says Jarrett is slowly starting to be revealed for what he really is, and that's a back-stabbing little pussy and a coward. He says he doesn't get enough credit for it either, but he's also an exceptional politician and he knows he's afraid of defending that belt again against him. He says he's become the best by becoming the worst, and he's proud to have dragged Jeff Jarrett down to his level. He challenges him to a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match. Jarrett says on Raven's best day, he couldn't get the job done. He says he's sacrificed everything to get this belt, but Raven has thrown his life away for alcohol and drugs, and nobody wants someone like him representing the company. He says he'll face Raven again if that's what everyone wants, and to prove that Raven isn't on his level, he's going to make sure Raven is 100% going into their next match. Someone in a suit then comes out and hands Jarrett papers, and he yells about being suspended.

In the back, Gilberti brags to SEX about getting Jarrett suspended for the night. He says he's going to beat Raven so bad tonight that he'll think he's detoxing. He hypes everyone up for their matches, and then tells the Harris Brothers to bring him Chris Harris.

Match #2: BG James/Konnan vs. The Sandman/Sonny Siaki [ASYLUM ALLIANCE MATCH]
BG James has returned and is now in the TNA camp again, and not SEX. He's also in a lot better shape. James vs. Sandman is fun for a match I never expected to see. Konnan and Siaki sucked though, and dragged this down. James hits a Pumphandle Slam on Siaki to win.
*3/4

EARLIER TONIGHT: New Jack is yelling about how stupid the Hard 10 tournament is, but says he'll win it anyways because he's fucking New Jack. Shark Boy then comes over. Jack yells that he doesn't want nothing to do with him, but Shark Boy holds up Chutes & Ladders and New Jack smiles and says they can work something out. This is amazing.

Match #3: New Jack vs. Slash [HARD 10 TOURNAMENT]
This was better than last week but still a generic brawl. Problem with the tournament is that due to the points system, there's only so much you can do. They hit each other with weapons and New Jack shoves Slash off the top through a table on the floor to get to 10 points.
*3/4

In the back, The Harris Brothers are drinking and looking for Harris, and then Ron Killings and Konnan run over and beat them down.

Match #5: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper vs. The SAT
This was what it was. SEX did a fine job carrying the SAT to something not totally horrible. Skipper wins with the rope walk Huracanrana.
**

Raven then comes out and gives both Maximos the Evenflow for some payback.

In the back, Desire and Tracy are randomly having a horrible catfight. It goes to the ring and shit, and David Young runs out to save and he hits Tracy with the Spinebuster.

It is time for Kid Kash vs. the mystery luchador. Before the match, the luchador comes out and unmasks and...yep. It's fucking Trinity.

Match #6: Kid Kash vs. Trinity
This was what it was. Trinity was really really sloppy here. Kash wins with the Moneymaker.
*3/4

Kash gets on the mic and says next time he sees her, he's going to kill her.

In the back, The Harris Brothers, now totally fine, drag in Chris Harris to the SEX locker room. Gilberti says he knows James Storm isn't here due to "personal problems", and as an offer of good will from SEX to him, he offers him Chris Sabin as a replacement partner tonight. Harris thinks about it, but says okay, and they walk off.

Match #7: Chris Harris/Chris Sabin vs. Jerry Lynn/Justin Credible [ASYLUM ALLIANCE MATCH]
Strangely, Harris and Sabin got along really well, and Lynn and Credible did not. The SEX (?) team carried this, especially against Credible. Sabin was again generally impressive without being great, which is basically the story of his career. This is where the HAIL SABIN thing begins, so that's fun. He rolls up Lynn for the win.
**1/2

Lynn and Credible then get into a big shitty brawl.

Match #8: Raven vs. Glenn Gilberti
More fun than I anticipated, due to it being a big dog and pony show. Raven drags Gilberti through a brawl, although it lacks the raw hate of AJ/Gilberti. The Harris Brothers and The Gathering get involved on the floor, and yeah, the ref is down, huge shocker. Then Sandman comes out to cane Sandman in revenge, but Jeff Jarrett runs out to fulfill his promise by fighting off Sandman. Raven hits the Evenflow, BUT FROM THE CROWD, VINCE RUSSO COMES AND HITS RAVEN IN THE BACK WITH A BASEBALL BAT! Gilberti is able to roll his arm on top, and he pins Raven. HORRIBLE.

In the parking lot, Jeff Jarrett shows up. New director of security Kevin Northcutt says his recent behavior will not be tolerated, and there's a security staff employed tonight to keep an eye on him. Jarrett calls for the people in the ivory tower to come down and tell him to his face.

In the back, Gilberti leads SEX in prayer and he thanks god for bringing them Vince Russo back.

Match #1: CM Punk/Frankie Kazarian/Matt Stryker vs. Kid Romeo/Johnny Swinger/Damien Dothar
The first team at least had a few things of value. They did some moves and Kazarian uses the Wave of the Future on Damien to win.
**

TONIGHT: AJ vs. D'Lo in a #1 Contender's Match

In the back, Raven is sitting down. He says somehow Jeff Jarrett has crafted a #1 Contender's Match without him involved, even though everyone knows it is his path of destruction over the last six months that has put TNA on the map. He says he won't stand for this, and the next time he sees Vince Russo, he's going to rip his head off and use it as a flower pot.

In the back, Goldilocks is with AMW. She says Harris has to choose tonight if he goes on in the tournament with James Storm as AMW or with Chris Sabin as SEX. Harris says he's made a decision, but he's going to say what it is in the ring. Storm says whatever he decides, he'll respect it, and they shake hands. Harris says maybe all good things do have to come to an end.

Match #2: Sonny Siaki vs. Vampire Warrior [HARD 10 TOURNAMENT]
Oh my god, this was AWFUL. Siaki wins.
1/4*

Sandman then runs out and canes Siaki.

In the back, Goldilocks is with The Harris Brothers. Don Harris says he won't team with Killings because he doesn't like his kind. Elix Skipper comes on and asks what he means by his kind, and he says people who play the race card after they lose, and Skipper is okay with this. The point is, Don Harris is refusing to team with Killings in the tournament.

Match #3: Ron Killings vs. David Young/Tracy Brooks w/ Desire [ASYLUM ALLIANCE MATCH]
I guess the Young/Manjaw team qualified off the air, or it got cut from my versions. Either way, it wasn't on what I saw. They do stuff. Killings vs. Young is fine enough. Tracy gets a low blow on Truth and Young hits the Spinebuster to win.
**1/4

Desire gets mad at Tracy celebrating too much with Young and they fight.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Jarrett. He says he might have done some things in the past he's not proud of to try and make his name, but it would be a slap in the face of NWA, tradition, and everyone who has held this belt if Glenn Gilberti becomes the NWA Champion.

Daniels, Skipper, and Sabin comes out to ringside to watch the next match. AMW comes out and Harris gets on the mic. He says the AMW era has only just begun, and they will win this tournament and get their belts back! Sabin gets in to attack, but AMW drives him off. Skipper and Sabin leave, but Daniels stays to do commentary.

Match #4: America's Most Wanted vs. BG James/Konnan [ASYLUM ALLIANCE MATCH]
Alright stuff. AMW continue to be generally good, and James works generally the same style, so they mesh well. The Harris Brothers run out to attack Konnan as Storm and Daniels fight on the floor, and then Harris hits Konnan with the Catatonic to win.
**

There is a horrible segment in the ring with Goldilocks interviewing Kash and Trinity. Kash goes after them both, but Erik Watts runs out to save, and he leaves with both women after laying out Kid Kash. Erik Watts is booking TNA, isn't he? How else is this happening?

In the back, Gilberti and Sanders talk. Gilberti says people have laughed at him for 12 years, but nobody will laugh at him after tonight is over. Sanders tells him to bring the belt home, and asks where Russo is. Gilberti says he just talked to him, and he's on his way here.

In the back, AJ and D'Lo are interviewed. D'Lo says it's nothing personal tonight, and he just wants that title. AJ says says they're going to tear the house down, and he wishes him luck.

Match #5: AJ Styles vs. D'Lo Brown [#1 Contender's Match]
Awesome face/face match. Lots of really really quick and crisp stuff. Raven and The Gathering come out to watch. Kudos to D'Lo, as in a match with fucking 2003 AJ Styles, D'Lo has the best spot of the match WITH A FUCKING FROG SPLASH OFF THE TOP TO AJ ON THE FLOOR JEEEEEEEEEEESUS CHRIST! D'Lo hits a super Sky High, but Julio pulls the ref out! Raven then hits D'Lo with a chair! AJ doesn't know it as they both get up, and AJ hits the Styles Clash for the win.
***

Raven then hits AJ with the chair.

NEXT WEEK: THE ASYLUM ALLIANCE FINALS WITH AMW VS. DAVID YOUNG/TRACY BROOKS! ALSO, THE NWA CHAMPION VS. RAVEN VS. AJ STYLES FOR THE BELT!

Match #6: Jeff Jarrett [c] vs. Glenn Gilberti w/ Mike Sanders [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
In terms of a total smoke and mirrors dog and pony show, this is not in the top tier of those matches in TNA 2003. It's not bad, but this kind of thing has been done way better. Interference, ref bumps, etc. They have a double down spot, AND VINCE RUSSO COMES OUT WITH A BAT! THE REF IS DOWN! BUT RUSSO HITS GILBERTI WITH THE BAT! YEEEEEEEEEES! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! THANK YOU RUSSO! Jarrett doesn't know it, and he hits The Stroke to win.

Good hype video for the main event three way to open the show.

Match #1: D'Lo Brown vs. Julio Dinero w/ Alexis Laree
Good D'Lo showcase. Julio has some fun flippy type offense, and D'Lo continues to be really really crisp with everything. TNA really has lit a fire under him that hasn't been there regularly since like 1999. Alexis keeps interfering, so D'Lo knocks her off the apron and he hits Julio with the Sky High for the win.
**3/4

A video airs on Russo's history in TNA.

Mike Tenay gets in the ring, and he brings out Glenn Gilberti for an interview. He asks why Russo did that last week, and Gilberti says he has no idea and he asks Tenay to explain it. Tenay says he has no idea and Gilberti says he's walked around pretending Russo was a great mind because he likes him personally, but now he thinks Russo was jealous that he did more with S.E.X. than Russo did when he was in charge. Vince Russo comes from the crowd and hits him with the bat again and just yells "FUCK YOU GLENN!" The Harris Brothers come out and pull Russo off, but they let him leave by himself.

EARLIER TONIGHT: New Jack and Shark Boy play Twister.

In the back, new interviewer SCOTT HUDSON interviews Sabin about his match. He says nothing of any real value. Nobody said anything about him being a great promo.

Match #2: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Shark Boy [NWA X Division Championship]
Fun little spotfest. Sabin took some crazy bumps and all their stuff was crisp. Sabin wins with the Future Shock.
**1/4

Sabin then tries to unmask him, so New Jack runs out to save! Mike Sanders runs out to save, and they beat up New Jack. No, really. They did. I don't believe it either.

Recap of the Minorities vs. Harris Bros. stuff.

Match #3: Ron Killings/Konnan vs. The Harris Brothers
This happened. Killings did a fine enough job carrying it. BG James comes out and he hits one of the Harrises with a chair, and Konnan covers to win. Something horrible has just begun.
*3/4

A pretape interview airs with Tenay and Jarrett. He talks about AJ and Raven, and says AJ doesn't even know how good he might be, and his career has only just begun. He says this is probably his toughest challenge yet and he suspects this is his punishment for how he was behaving over the last few months, and he accepts that. Tenay asks about Russo and Jarrett says he has absolutely no association with Russo.

In the back, Erik Watts is asked about his handicap match vs. Kid Kash tonight, but someone attacks him from behind and knocks him down, but nobody sees who it was.

Match #4: Kid Kash vs. Erik Watts/Trinity/Goldilocks
This was not much. Mostly Trinity/Kash again, due to Watts' injury. Watts gets in and hey, ref bump. The mystery man comes out, AND OH SON OF A BITCH, IT'S ABYSS. He throws Watts to the post, and he then hits Trinity with the Black Hole Slam! Kash stands on her chest for the win.
*1/2

In the back, Bill Behrens tells D'Lo he has to leave before the main event, because they don't want any interference in it, so this thing can all be over. D'Lo is mad, and security makes him leave.

Match #5: The Sandman vs. Devon Storm [HARD 10 TOURNAMENT]
Fun stuff, due to Sandman being Sandman. Lots of really nasty bumps and what not. Siaki wheels out a grocery cart full of weapons for them. Sandman puts Storm on a table on the floor and Sandman climbs a ladder and hits the Rolling Rock down through the table to win.
**1/2

In the back, Lynn and Credible have another pullapart.

In the back, Hudson interviews Tracy Brooks, who insults him a lot. He then accidentally ends it with "Back to you, Tony, Bobby". Awesome.

Triple X comes out to do commentary, and Daniels says he can't wait for Low Ki to recover from his injury.

Match #6: America's Most Wanted vs. David Young/Tracy Brooks w/ Desire [ASYLUM ALLIANCE FINALS]
This happened. AMW vs. Young was fine, but it was hardly awesome or anything. Tracey keeps doing low blows and what not. XXX tries to get involved several times, but AMW cuts them off at the end, and Storm hits David Young with a Spear to win.
**

Storm gets on the mic and says next week at the 1 year anniversary show, they're going to get their belts back! On the floor, David Young yells at Tracy, but someone who Tenay identifies as Nurse Veronica, who is Simply Luscious of 2002 ROH "fame", hits Young with a chair on the ramp.

Hype video for the main event.

Match #7: Jeff Jarrett [c] vs. Raven vs. AJ Styles [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
Really good stuff. Classic kind of a three way in terms of how it goes, and it being only 15 minutes, there's no real wasted time. They also had some nice story too early on, as Raven and Jarrett don't want AJ invovled in their issue. Raven dominates them both though, so AJ and Jeff team up. AJ is a lot more confident than usual here, in nice foreshadowing. Raven starts using weapons to take over. RAVEN HITS THE EVENFLOW! RAVEN HAS THE THREE COUNT, BUT FUCKING SHANE DOUGLAS PULLS HIM OUT! Okay, Biggie. The jig is up, just admit you're booking TNA 2003. They brawl off through the crowd and out of the building, and it is down to AJ and Jarrett. They have a good run, and a ref bump happens. RUSSO COMES OUT WITH A GUITAR, BUT HE HITS JARRETT WITH IT! YES! AJ HITS THE STYLES CLASH, AND HE WINS THE TITLE! THE NIGHTMARE IS OVER!
***

AJ AND RUSSO HUG! That line about AJ now knowing what he has to do to win the NWA Title makes so much more sense now, since he turned down the help once and lost because of interference, so he gets his own help now. They leave, and Jeff gets on the mic. He says he wants his rematch next week on the anniversary show. AJ comes back to ringside with the mic and says he's the champion now, and like Jeff dodged him, he's not fighting him for shit for another 30 days. Jarrett then told him to find a tag partner for next week, BECAUSE HE'S BRINGING STING WITH HIM! BAH GAWD!

In the parking lot, a limo arrives and Shane Douglas steps out.

Match #1: D'Lo Brown/The Sandman/Frankie Kazarian vs. Don Harris/David Young/Sonny Siaki
Kazarian is generally inoffensive. Young, Sandman, and D'Lo are good as usual, and this is fine for the 3-4 minutes it lasts. D'Lo beats David with the Frog Splash.
**

The rest of SEX comes out to attack, BUT STING AND JEFF JARRETT COME OUT TO SAVE!

Recap of last week's main event.

Vince Russo and AJ Styles come out and the crowd chants "THANK YOU RUSSO!" AMAZING! He has to turn them on him by calling them hicks and what not, and says AJ Styles is the man who is going to lead TNA into the future, and is further along in his career 3 years in than any all time great ever was, especially Jarrett and Sting. AJ says Russo was the missing puzzle piece, and he did what he said he would do from the start of the year. D'Lo Brown comes out and shakes hands with both men. He talks about his history with Russo and puts over how great a tag team he and AJ were, and AJ asks him to be his tag partner tonight, and D'Lo accepts. Russo says he made D'Lo a star in the WWF and he's glad he's loyal to him. D'Lo shoves Russo and AJ tries to keep peace, but D'Lo shoves him. Raven then hits the ring and attacks AJ and Russo, but Shane Douglas runs out and hits a Belly to Belly! AJ THEN ATTACKS D'LO! :( AJ, Shane, and Russo beat them down. God fucking damnit.

In the back, Goldilocks interviews Tracy and Nurse. They call themselves Bitchslap, and they leave. Erik Watts comes out and asks Goldilocks if she took care of what they talked about.

In the back, Punk asks Julio and Alexis if they asked Raven about him wanting in The Gathering. Julio says Raven is pissed and says he doesn't even know if there is a Gathering anymore. Punk says there will always be a Gathering. Quote CM Punk, nevermore.

Match #2: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Paul London [NWA X Division Championship]
Really fun spotfest. Lots of insane London spots, and Sabin is an adequate dance partner for him. Punk comes out to watch and unfortunately, this cuts the match short from really getting great. Punk hits London with his version of the Evenflow, and Sabin then hits the Future Shock to win. I don't understand why someone who wants to be in The Gathering is helping an SEX member.
**3/4

In the back, Goldilocks interviews New Jack. He says he doesn't give a shit about Mike Sanders, and says he's going to kill him. Shark Boy comes in and New Jack says he ain't playing no games tonight, but Shark holds up a hand to tell him to wait. He leaves, and comes back WITH HULK HANDS! AWESOME! New Jack says that's his shit, and says after this, he'll come back and play with him. I have no idea what they would do with those, but it rules. New Jack says he doesn't know moves or holds, but he knows whooping ass, and Mike Sanders ain't gonna take long at all. Fuck yeah. I admit that I'm not familiar with ECW New Jack that much, but I can't imagine that he was ever better of a character than here as a lunatic homicidal maniac who fucking loves board games and has a best friend who is a shark.

A recap airs of Abyss' debut last week, but they haven't actually named him Abyss yet.

Match #3: New Jack vs. Mike Sanders [HARD 10 TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS]
Fun New Jack performance. Sanders was awful, but hey. Shark Boy runs out to throw New Jack one of the hulk and he comes off the top with a FLYING HULK HAND TO SANDERS THROUGH A TABLE ON THE FLOOR TO WIN! AWESOME!
**

A video airs on Trinity. Why?

Match #4: Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible
This sure happened. It wasn't horrible or anything, but calling it good would be a big stretch. Credible gets a roll up using the ropes for the win.
**

They keep fighting into the crowd, and security breaks it up. Lynn then goes back to the ring and hits a dive over the railing to Credible! Great dive.

A pretape airs with BG James interviewing Konnan and Ron Killings. They all make fun of redneck, mexican, and nigger stereotypes, and seem to be pals.

Match #5: Perry Saturn vs. Kenzo Suzuki
OH MY GOD NO. This wasn't awful, actually. Saturn was on his game, and Kenzo was working really stiff, so while it wasn't really good, it was at least entertaining. Justin Credible runs out to help and he canes Kenzo for the DQ.
**

They beat on him, and Jerry Lynn runs out to brawl with Credible AGAIN.

A highlight video airs of some more ridiculous TNA moments like Toby Keith attacking Jarrett, Tony's one night return, Jarrett vs. Tennessee Titans, etc.

In the back, AJ Styles is interviewed and says he's put his trust in Russo to find him the perfect tag team partner tonight.

Match #6: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper [c] w/ Low Ki vs. America's Most Wanted [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This began in the back, and they brawled to the ring. Ki's arm is in a sling. This was a great match as usual. Due to the hot start, this was constant action for about 8 minutes. Lots of crisp stuff early on, and then they have great false finishes as usual. AMW hits the Death Sentence but Ki pulls the ref out! Skipper hits Harris with the title belt, and Daniels puts an arm over for the win. I rate TNA like I rated WWF 1999 with lower standards for a *** match, and this was really good for what it was, so I'll give it to them.
***

A horrible pretape interview with Tenay and Jerry Jarrett airs, talking about TNA and Russo. He says Russo is obsessed with the NWA Title, and hopes he doesn't go too far.

In the back, Abyss has Goldilocks locked in a cage, and Erik Watts comes over to help. He fights Abyss in a really awful brawl, but then Kid Kash runs over and they beat down Erik Watts.

AMW comes back out, and they get on the mic and challenge XXX to a final tag title match next week, but inside a Steel Cage!

AJ and Russo come out for the main event, and Russo introduces the partner as Syxx Pac! He didn't bother to bring gear, so he's wrestling in workout pants.

Match #7: Sting/Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles/Syxx-Pac w/ Vince Russo
Good stuff. AJ was pretty clearly carrying his team, but AJ/Jarrett is a great pairing and Sting came prepared to do work. Tenay keeps yelling that Russo has brainwashed AJ, but through most of 2003, he's been a cocky little shit. There's a ref bump and shit breaks down. Raven cuts off Russo, and then Douglas attacks Raven on the floor and leaves. AJ is distracted by this on the top, and Jeff takes him off with the Stroke for the win.
**3/4

Raven gets back in, and he and Jarrett go face to face. They're about to fight, but Sting calms them down, and he raises both their hands.

Match #1: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper [c] vs. America's Most Wanted [NWA World Tag Team Championship - Steel Cage Match - No Escape Rules]

Some minor sloppy moments, but overall, this was great and clearly TNA's MOTY so far. Violent and bloody, and like 99% of the stuff they did looked brutal and great. Lots of awesome nearfalls, but nothing was ridiculous, since they utilized saves from the partners really well. Skipper gets knocked off the top to the floor, and in a great turnaround of the feud, Daniels is now all alone against AMW with the numbers advantage. They do stuff and AMW hits the Death Sentence, with Harris coming off the top of the cage, for the win and the belts.
***1/2

TONIGHT: LYNN VS. CREDIBLE IN A LIGHTS OUT MATCH! WATTS VS. KASH! SANDMAN VS. SIAKI!

D'Lo Brown comes out while the cage is still up, and he calls AJ Styles out to have a match with him right now! AJ comes out to the cage to fight with him, AND A REFEREE COMES OUT YEAH!

Match #2: AJ Styles vs. D'Lo Brown [Steel Cage Match]
AJ takes some fucking INSANE bumps in here, easily topping Skipper's crazy bumps in the first match, and then busts D'Lo open with a chair. Really violent and brutal attacks on the cut. D'Lo makes a big comeback, and he goes for the Frog Splash, but Russo comes out with the bat, and he comes in and hits D'Lo with it for the...for the DQ. Yes, really.
***

They beat on D'Lo, but Jeff Jarrett runs out to save, and Red Shirt Security has to break it up. Russo says Jarrett will never get a title shot.

In the parking lot, Shane Douglas sneak attacks Julio and Alexis, and he walks into the building.

Shane Douglas walks up to Raven's Nest, and somehow has a microphone. He says everyone wants to know why he's here, and it's really simple. Nine years ago, in a much better city and building, he threw 50 years of heritage in the garbage can and the NWA Title was no more. But then Raven, someone who came from a place HE put on the map, came on and he tried to resurrect what he destroyed, and he just couldn't have that. He says he tried to come in TNA the right way, but officials wouldn't let him near any NWA titles, so he's made a deal with the devil. Before he can say what that means, Raven comes out and Douglas says it's his destiny to become FRANCHISED. What a horrible horrible catchphrase. Anyway, they brawl. It goes to the ring and Glenn Gilberti runs out to help Douglas. CM Punk runs out to try and help Raven, but Raven is down by then, so it's a 2 on 1 on him too. AND JEFF JARRETT RUNS OUT WITH A CHAIR TO SAVE RAVEN! I have no idea why he did that, but it given that this is leading to some kind of a big garbage match gimmick multiman fight, getting Jarrett involved isn't a bad idea, especially when it's 2003 and the heel side really only has AJ Styles, as far as good wrestlers go.

Match #3: Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible [Lights Out Match]
Lights Out in this case just means that it's unsanctioned and they turned the lights out. I was surprised by this. Total nonsense brawl, but it was fun and they had some neat spots and kept it at like 6 minutes. They began in the parking lot and had a cool fight using the fence and cars. Lynn gets a roll up on the stage to win. Roll up finish in a brawl. Hate.
**1/4

Credible then handcuffs Lynn to the TNA dancers' cage and kills him with chair shots.

Tenay and West say that Russo owns the copyright to S.E.X. and he won't let the group use the name or shirts anymore.

Match #4: Chris Sabin vs. Frankie Kazarian
FUTURE VS. FUTURE! They have a generally alright match, but nothing is really great. In the first match of a feud, they kick out of each other's finishes, before Kazarian wins with a cradle. LOLTNA.
**1/2

TONIGHT: RAVEN/JARRETT VS. DOUGLAS/GILBERTI

Mach #5: Kid Kash vs. Erik Watts
This sucked. They did some stuff, ref bump, Abyss interferes, and Kash wins.
*1/4

In the parking lot, Shark Boy is in an inflatable pool labeled SHARK TANK. He motions for New Jack to get in, and he refuses and says the last time a bunch of black people got in the water, they was on a boat, and it wasn't no damn fun. He motions to an octopus and throws rings onto his arm, and New Jack then hops in, and they start throwing rings at the octopus in the pool. This is the greatest.

Posted Image

Match #6: The Sandman vs. Sonny Siaki [HARD 10 SEMI-FINALS]
Fun stuff, due to Sandman being Sandman. Siaki tries to mock Sandman and smoke a cigarette but starts coughing and spitting it out and it allows Sandman to come back. Amazing. Sandman hits the Rolling Rock to Siaki through a table on the floor to win.
**1/4

New Jack comes out, still wet, and drinks a beer with Sandman. It will be Sandman vs. New Jack in the finals next week.

IN THE PARKING LOT, MIKE SANDERS ATTACKS SHARK BOY IN THE POOL AND TRIES TO DROWN HIM! BUT YOU CAN'T DROWN A SHARK! SHARK BOY FIGHTS BACK, BUT MIKE SANDERS TAKES THE OCTOPUS AND RUNS OFF! AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING!

Match #7: Jeff Jarrett/Raven vs. Glenn Gilberti/Shane Douglas
They had a story where Raven hurt his leg when he missed a Plancha, so we got some fun Raven selling for the rest of the match. The faces carry them through a good crowd brawl. Douglas and Gilberti never really got a chance to do a lot of offense because of how this was structured, which is probably for the best. Douglas threw some awful clubbering forearms though. I feel like he might throw a good right hand, but I have no reason to think that. Raven and Jarrett have trouble getting along. The ref is down and Jarrett hits Gilberti with the guitar! He covers, and Shane is supposed to pull the ref out, but he is not there yet, SO THE REF IS PULLED OUT BY AN INVISIBLE PERSON! POSSIBLY LITTLE JIMMY! They keep fighting and Jarrett eats the Belly to Belly. FATHER JAMES MITCHELL COMES OUT, AND HE THROWS A FIREBALL AT RAVEN! That is obviously a DQ.
**1/2

Douglas then shakes hands with Mitchell. BAH GAWD HE *DID* MAKE A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL!

NWA-TNA
July 2nd, 2003
Nashville, TN

The show opens with Shane Douglas in the ring, and a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match is set up. He shows clips of what he did to Raven last week, and reiterates that he made a deal with the devil to get into TNA and stop Raven from trying to resurrect what he destroyed 9 years ago. He says Raven isn't even here to fight him tonight and he wants to be declared the winner, but CM Punk comes out and says he'll take Raven's place!

Match #1: Shane Douglas vs. CM Punk [Clockwork Orange House of Fun]
Punk looked pretty good here, and had some cool spots. Shane had moments where he looked good, but then they were mostly broken up by him clearly being past his prime. Shane uses brass knucks and then hits the Belly to Belly to win. I get why it happened, to advance the feud and all, but that is still horrible offensive.
**1/2

James Mitchell comes out, AND HE THROWS A FIREBALL AT PUNK TOO! Julio and Alexis try to save, but they are as useless as always and the heels are gone by them, seeing that The Gathering is not even worthy of fireballs.

TONIGHT: Lynn vs. Credible in a RUSSIAN CHAIN MATCH, AND THE HARD 10 FINALS

Jeff Jarrett comes out for a promo, but before he can do anything, Vince Russo comes out and sets up a lawn chair on the stage and starts drinking Pepsi. He burps into the mic and says Jarrett will be getting no rematch against AJ Styles. Jarrett then runs out and up the stage and he attacks Russo. Fucking Just Joe then comes over and attacks Jarrett. They fight to the ring and it goes on waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long before AJ Styles runs out and helps Joe beat down Jarrett. They tape Jarrett to the ropes and Russo goes to town with his bat to the ribs of Jeff, and he spits up obviously fake blood.

A recap airs of XXX/AMW from last week.

Match #2: America's Most Wanted [c] vs. Sonny Siaki/David Young [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
WAY too much Siaki in this for it to be good, unfortunately. Young was fine though. AMW wins with the Death Sentence.
*3/4

A video airs on Elix Skipper.

In the back, Kash is talking to Abyss behind a cage, and officially names him that. Erik Watts then comes over and handcuffs Kash to the cage, and he and Abyss brawl to the ring for a match.

Match #3: Abyss vs. Erik Watts
AWFUL! Abyss was inoffensive, but Watts was absolutely terrible. Somehow, Kid Kash is free without explanation and runs interference, so Abyss can hit the Black Hole Slam to win. Gotta keep Erik Watts strong.
*

Tenay tells us that Jarrett is in the hospital with injuries. No way!

Match #4: Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible [Russian Chain Match]
This absolutely happened. Some blood, but not a lot. Some cool chain stuff, but not really enough to say it was great. Pretty much what you'd expect with Lynn vs. Credible. Lynn gets a roll up to win. In a goddamned Russian Chain Match. Fuck you.
**1/4

Credible then hits the That's Incredible on the chain and leaves. Inexplicably, TNA dancer Lollipop comes out check on Lynn.

In the back, Bill Behrens is hanging out and Frankie Kazarian comes out. He says he beat Sabin last week, and he wants a title shot. AJ Styles comes over and says since Jarrett is in the hospital and he wants a title defense, it's Kazarian's lucky night, because he gets an NWA Title shot.

Match #5: Shark Boy vs. Mike Sanders
Horrible! Sharkie wins with a flash roll up.
*1/2

The Harris Bros come out and they lay out Shark Boy. BOOOOOOOOOO.

Horrible comedy pretape with BG James, Konnan, and Killings making fun of people.

Match #6: The Sandman vs. New Jack [HARD 10 FINALS]
They sort of gave up counting weapon shots, which is probably for the best. Fun nonsense garbage brawl. Sandman throws New Jack off the balcony through two tables to win the tournament.
**1/2

According to Tenay, Negro Casas and Shocker from Mexico will be on next week. Which didn't happen at all. TNA!

Match #7: AJ Styles [c] w/ Vince Russo vs. Frankie Kazarian [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
Really great AJ carryjob. Kazarian is nothing special, and him having a steady job on TV for the last 9 years is totally baffling, but he is crisp at this point, which is enough for AJ to carry a spotty guy. Kazarian's offense is not much, but AJ bumps really well and then has a great control seg. Lots of amazing dick moves. Sabin and Trinity come out to interfere, but I had no idea they were even aligned. AJ hits the Styles Clash to win, but Kazarian forgets to tuck his head back, so AJ almost breaks his neck on it.
**3/4

They all beat on him, but D'Lo Brown runs out to save.

This video is only at like 1:38, so we're missing whatever the last few segments are.

Jeff Jarrett and Joe E. Legend have a shitty pullapart brawl to open the show and Tenay says they have a match tonight.

TONIGHT: Lynn vs. Credible in a Last Man Standing match, Sabin vs. Kazarian for the X Title

NEXT WEEK: AJ VS. D'LO FOR THE NWA TITLE IN A REMATCH! YEAH! Oh. It'll be a Best of Three Series with three matches throughout the show. :( First match is pin only, then submission only, and then the third, if necessary, will be a Ladder Match. Jesus, as if AJ winning WOTY wasn't already a foregone conclusion.

D'Lo Brown comes out to the ring and he gets on the mic and says before next week, he wants to eliminate anybody who he thinks might interfere on AJ's behalf. He says he's going to get rid of Sonny Siaki right now and says he's been told that if he beats Siaki now, he'll get 5 minutes with Russo at the end of the show!

Match #1: D'Lo Brown vs. Sonny Siaki w/ Trinity [If D'Lo Wins, He Gets Russo]
As good as a Siaki match can probably be for 4 minutes. D'Lo rules again. Trinity's interference fails as she accidentally Crossbodies Siaki, and D'Lo then gets a Jackknife Pin on Siaki to win.
**

Hype video for Lynn/Credible.

Match #2: Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible [Last Man Standing]
Look, I'll give them credit. This has been a well enough booked feud, but I just don't want to watch Lynn/Credible anymore. I never wanted it to begin with, to be honest. As for the match, I'm actually upset at how much I enjoyed this. This is easily the best match they've had in TNA, as they bleed a lot and use a lot of props. This is also more of a Texas Death Match, as they do pinfalls before the 10 counts. They trade Piledrivers, barely getting up, and then after a Cradle Tombstone, both men collapse and cover each other. Both men are counted won and they both get up at 9 or so, and Lynn pulls Credible down by the belt and Lynn wins. This feud has to be over, since they won't top that.
***

Another awful 3LK comedy seg. I appreciate that they're using this to keep Konnan and BG from wrestling.

Jarrett and Legend have another terrible brawl.

Match #3: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Frankie Kazarian [NWA X Division Championship]
Their best match yet. Not great or anything, but they had a focus and it was crisp and they had cool spots. Sabin works on the midsection and has some really nice work. There was a ref bump, and Sabin brought the belt in, but Kazarian stopped it and he hit the Wave of the Future on the belt! Another ref ran out and counted 3 and Kazarian wins the belt.
**3/4

The first ref sees it though and says that Kazarian used the belt, SO YOUR WINNER BY DQ AND STILL CHAMPION, CHRIS SABIN! <3 Dusty Finish.

In the back, Shark Boy gives New Jack his own Shark Boy mask. He says he'll wear whatever he has to wear to get the Harris Brothers, and calls them faggot bitches.

Match #4: SHARKJACK vs. The Harris Brothers
This was hardly great, but it was better than expected, due to New Jack wearing a Shark Boy mask. The H Bomb beats New Jack. NAH.
*3/4

They attack Shark Boy now, AND THEY TAKE OFF HIS MASK! BUT NEW JACK PROTECTS HIS IDENTITY WITH THE SPARE MASK! New Jack fights them, but then Shark Boy gets the FUCKING HULK HANDS! THEY CLEAR HOUSE WITH THE HULK HANDS!

A horrible pretape airs with Tenay and Kid Kash & Abyss. Kash complains about getting no respect despite being a veteran and he has Abyss choke Tenay until people rush on to pull him off.

In the back, Erik Watts talks to Goldilocks and says the "Eric" he's been talking about will come in next week to restore order. I figured they had dropped this after having not talked about since like May or something.

Before his match, Elix Skipper comes out with a floor scale and says he's the best pound for pound wrestler in TNA, and has the scale as a prop to show this.

Match #5: Elix Skipper vs. Amazing Red
Red is wrestling with a fucked knee by now, so his incredible peak period is over. :( As a result, this is only aerage and not carried by an amazing Amazing Red performance. Skipper ends up hitting Red with the scale behind the ref's back for the win.
**1/2

Don Callis and FUCKING ICEBERG come out and Callis says he represents TNA and says he is uniquely qualified, as an MBA, to make changes necessary to make TNA even better as a management consultant. He says he has market demographics and they say Sandman attracts a degenerate alcoholic demographic, but people as a whole are sick of hardcore wrestling, so his man, Edward Chastaine, will drive it out, starting with this man. AND NORMAN SMILEY COMES OUT! YES!

Match #6: Edward Chastaine w/ Don Callis vs. Norman Smiley
Short nothing squash for Iceberg.
1/2*

Glenn Gilberti and Diamond/Swinger come out and Gilberti says they were robbed of the tag titles last week, and TNA needs them to have the belts because they don't want two cowboys representing them. They threaten to beat up Borash if they don't get another title match, so AMW runs out to save. They get distracted by beating up Gilberti though, and Diamond and Swinger lay them out with chair shots. Gilberti set up a chair and says they won't leave until someone gives them their rightful title match. BUT RAVEN COMES OUT! FUCK YEAH RAVEN'S BACK! Note that Tenay and West completely do not react to Raven's music for like 10 seconds. He drives them out with chair shots, and AMW then fights the heels to the back, and then Raven gets on the mic.

Raven says he's not here to whine or complain, but he wants Douglas and Mitchell right now! They come to the stage, and Raven goes out after them! Raven fights Douglas on the ramp and gets him in, but then The New Church of Brian Lee and Slash comes in to attack Raven. He fights them off almost, but Douglas gets a low blow! He sets up a chair and Mitchell says his first lesson in what true pain is will now happen, AND DOUGLAS HITS THE DROP TOEHOLD TO THE CHAIR! Mitchell gets in and asks if he's had enough, and Raven tells him to go to hell, and he says to do it again! Shane hits the move again when The New Church holds Raven up. Mitchell then says he doesn't go to hell, because he brings Hell with him! Awesome line.

Hype for Jarrett/Legend. Really?

NEXT WEEK: AMW/Team Me for the belt, Raven/Gathering vs. Douglas/New Church

Match #6: Jeff Jarrett vs. Joe Legend
They brawl, and that is where the video cuts off.

July 23rd, 2003

Match #1: AJ Styles [c] w/ Trinity vs. D'Lo Brown [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - Best of Three Series - Match #1]

This was awesome, duh. More so just a lot of moves for 7 minutes, but AJ does that better than almost anyone. He takes awesome bumps and has great highspots. D'Lo flubs big time on trying a Spanish Fly, but Trinity distracts the ref. Sonny Siaki comes out and hits the Siakalypse, and AJ covers to go up 1-0.
**3/4

TONIGHT: AMW vs. Team Me, Raven/Gathering vs. Shane/New Church

Elix Skipper comes out to issue an open challenge and Crash Holly comes out to accept, now known as Mad Mikey.

Match #2: Elix Skipper vs. Mad Mikey
This generally kind of happened. Crash looked good, but not quite great, and Skipper uses the scale to win.
**

A video airs on the horrible Jarrett/Legend feud.

Match #3: Joe Legend vs. Matt Sydal/Altar Boy Luke
The kids made Legend look good, and he pinned them both at once.
*1/4

Jeff Jarrett runs out, and he attacks Legend. He hits him with The Stroke and the red shirt security team comes out to get him out, but he punches Kevin Northcutt in the face.

In the back, Scott Hudson was outside the locker room of AJ Styles. He heard Russo yelling at AJ for taking too many chances and he still has to win another match tonight, and AJ calms him down and says he worries too much, and AJ then walks out the door.

THE FALLEN ANGEL: RETURNING SOON TO SAVE YOUR SOUL!

D'Lo walks out to the ring, but Siaki clips his leg as he comes down! Referees get him to the back, but the damage has been done.

Match #4: AJ Styles [c] vs. D'Lo Brown [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - Best of Three Series - Match #2 - Submission Match]
D'Lo sells really well and AJ works the leg. There's a nice story where AJ doesn't have a lot of submission experience, so he's doing more high flying and shit like he's comfortable with. D'Lo reversed a Sharpshooter into one of his own and AJ quickly taps out to save himself. Good stuff here, but it got cut off before it could become great.
**3/4

A pretape interview with Tenay and Don Callis airs. Callis keeps saying their customers need him and says he's the only one here who understands both wrestling AND business and says the customers don't want hardcore wrestling or scantily clad women. Tenay says they clearly do, judging from the ratings, and Callis says the people don't know what they want, and he's here to help everyone.

Another horrible 3LK skit.

Match #5: America's Most Wanted [c] vs. Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
Team Me is again horrible. :( They do stuff and Gilberti attacks AMW with a bullrope and cowbell for the DQ.
*3/4

Diamond and Johnny help him out and they lay out AMW with bullropes.

Recap of the Raven/Douglas feud.

Match #6: Raven/CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Shane Douglas/The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell
Hey, this was good! The New Church were motivated and Punk and Raven were Punk and Raven in 2003. Douglas didn't do a lot, probably for the best, and Punk was a good face in peril. Raven finally gets in after a ref bump and he and Douglas brawl to the back. A mystery man pulls Raven to the back, and it becomes 3 on 2. Punk ended up fighting all 3 and got put over a bit, BUT RAVEN COMES OUT ALL BLOODY AND CRAWLS TO THE RING! He managed to get Lee with the Evenflow and got Shane in position, but Mitchell then got in. Shane then picked up Raven and rammed him through a table in the corner and the ref wakes up to count 3. The mystery guy would have been more effective if he actually took Raven back, but this was still good stuff.
**3/4

Mike Tenay gets in the ring and introduces the NWA Legends, consisting of Sara Lee, Ricky Morton, Harley Race, Larry Zbyszko, and Corsica Jones. He says they're all here to support the new Director of Authority, but Kid Kash comes out. He shits on all of them and Morton says he won't be here if not for them, and especially him, since he trained him! Kash slapped him and choked Sara, but Erik Watts comes out and Chokeslams Kash! HE THEN SAYS HE IS THE DIRECTOR OF AUTHORITY. OH MY GOD, NO. WHY? FUCK YOU. He holds up Kash and Race punches Kid Kash in the face. Well, that ruled.

Up in Raven's Nest, Raven is sitting down all groggy, and he challenges Shane and The New Church to face his Gathering in a six man Clockwork Orange House of Fun match next week!

NEXT WEEK: JARRETT VS. LEGEND IN A GUITAR AND BAT ON POLES MATCH!

Match #7: AJ Styles [c] w/ Trinity vs. D'Lo Brown [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - Ladder Match]
Pure spotfest, and it is really fucking incredible. Lots of really inventive spots and counters, and they do a great job of nothing being contrived or out of place and leaving you, the viewer, wanting more. D'Lo hits a Frog Splash off the ladder to AJ through a table on the floor. He almost has the belt, but Siaki runs out and pushes him off a ladder through another table on the other side! Both men slowly get in and climb the ladder. They fight over the belt and they both fall off holding the belt!
***

The ref is stuck having to make a decision and says that since both men got the belt, it is a draw, and therefore, AJ Styles is still champion! Russo runs out with is arms open and smiling, AND HE GRABS THE TITLE INSTEAD OF AJ AND STARTS KISSING IT! AMAZING!

July 30th, 2003
Nashville, TN

Match #1: Jerry Lynn vs. Elix Skipper [Best of Three Falls]

Lynn immediately gets a roll up for the win. Skipper then challenges him to make it another fall, and he accepts. This was a Jerry Lynn vs. Elix Skipper match, so you know, it happened. Ref bump, scale is brought in, but Lynn dropkicks it into his face and he gets the win.
**1/4

TONIGHT: Horrible Double Pole match, Kid Kash vs. Ricky Morton, Sabin vs. Michael Shane for the X Title

Sonny Siaki and Trinity come out and Siaki says if it wasn't for him, D'Lo Brown would be the NWA Champion. He says he's the past, present, and future of NWA-TNA and says he has the magic stick, and says AJ Styles is lucky he was there to help. AJ Styles then comes out to the ring and says Sonny might have forgotten his role in all of this and says Siaki is the one who rides his coattails and he slaps Siaki! AJ says he doesn't need any of them and all he needs is the belt! YEAH! D'Lo Brown comes out and says he missed that fire in AJ's eyes and he challenges him to a rematch next week so that he can prove to everyone that he deserves that belt after last week, and AJ accepts. Siaki then attacks D'Lo from behind and AJ watches a little bit before he pulls Siaki off. Erik Watts then comes out and books them next week in a Steel Cage Match and bans everyone but Russo from ringside and says he'll be handcuffed to him!

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews The Gathering. Julio says Punk isn't here and accuses him of flaking out and Alexis says she'll take his place.

Match #2: The Sandman vs. Edward Chastaine w/ Don Callis
Callis joins commentary, and he says that New Jack has been suspended indefinitely to curb the hardcore style. Fun Sandman carryjob, and Sandman wins with the White Russian Leg Sweep.
**

Callis gets on the mic and says that Ed disappointed the fans by not defeating the hardcore wrestler, so he's been downsized.

In the back, Scott Hudson is with Shark Boy, and he is sad at New Jack not being here anymore. Scott Hudson gives him some Hulk Hands, but it does not work. Norman Smiley then comes in and says he'll be his partner and he can then teach him how to do the Big Wiggle, and Shark Boy is alright with that.

Match #3: Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti vs. Norman Smiley/Shark Boy
This happened, I guess. The faces were perfectly alright. Wind Up Slam is always awesome. Team Me wins with the Problem Solver, which is a half-assed Snapshot. Borash gets on my nerves by announcing the winners as "the team of Simon and Swinger" Just have to rub it in, you little shit?
*1/2

A pretape with Tenay and Vince Russo airs. Typical Russo promo talking about saving wrestling and all. He says now he has the ultimate trump card in AJ Styles, because it's common knowledge that no matter what anyone says, AJ Styles is the reason people watch TNA. Tenay asks about Jarrett he says he used to love Jeff Jarrett even when they weren't on the same side, but after Jarrett put his family on the show to embarrass him a few months ago, he hates Jeff Jarrett.

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews Chris Sabin. He says now Frankie Kazarian has to work his way up the ladder to get another title shot. Erik Watts comes by and makes Kazarian the special referee for the X Title match next.

Match #4: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Michael Shane [NWA X Division Championship - Special Referee: Frankie Kazarian]
Sabin again looked pretty good and Dhane impressed me more than he does usually. This is that weird 2002-4 period where people looked at Michael Shane being related to Shawn and figured with his genetics, he'd get good eventually, so he kept getting pushed. Not sure why people keep making that mistake. Anyways, he's booked as a face here, so he's not that great apart from a willingness to take huge bumps. Sabin can guide him through a brief inoffensive match though. Kazarian stops him from using the belt and then interferes to throw him off the top. Another ref comes out to argue with Kazarian, and as that happens, Sabin gets a low blow and uses the belt. He covers and the other ref goes and counts the pin and Sabin retains.
**3/4

In the back, Ricky Morton cuts an awful promo about respect.

Match #5: Kid Kash vs. Ricky Morton
Man, this sucked. Sloppy, nobody cared, etc. Every possible reason you don't want to see a Ricky Morton match in 2003. He does the single worst Frankensteiner I've ever seen. Abyss comes out and hits Morton with the Shock Treatment Backbraker and Kash covers to win.
3/4*

Horrible 3LK segment.

THE FALLEN ANGEL: RETURNING NEXT WEEK TO SAVE YOUR SOUL!

Hype video for the six man/person.

Match #6: Raven/Julio Dinero/Alexis Laree vs. Shane Douglas/The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell [Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match]
Good and all, but Punk not being there really harms it. TNA's "Perfect Strangers" knock off is awful. AND OH MY GOD, BRIAN LEE IS DRUUUUUUUUUUUUUNK! Falls down the ramp, stumbling all over, clearly out of it. They do some stuff and it's alright, but not as good as last week. It's basically a handicap match due to Alexis, who only does a few things. Raven hits Shane with a Flying Elbow off the middle buckle to Shane through a table on the floor. The mystery man then drags Raven under the ring. Brian Lee then Chokeslams Alexis i nthe ring. Raven is rolled out from under the ring and he is KO'd and Shane gets a hand over him to win.
**1/4

In the back, D'Lo is behind a cage with an apple and says this will be AJ's face next week, and he grinds it against the cage and breaks open the apple and shit.

Hype video for the horrible main event.

In the back, AJ Styles is interviewed by Scott Hudson. He says he knows next week is this whole teacher vs. student thing, but truth is, he took D'Lo's class, and it SUCKED. He says he's done more in 3-4 years than D'Lo has in 10 and Russo taught him way more than D'Lo. ZIP IT!

NEXT WEEK IN ADDITION TO D'LO/AJ: AMW vs. Team Me in a Rawhide Strap Match (?), Sabin vs. Kazarian for the X Title

Match #7: Jeff Jarrett vs. Joe Legend [BAT AND GUITAR ON POLES MATCH]
Oh my god, awful. I get that they needed someone for Jeff to kill time against during the AJ/D'Lo feud, but Legend is the worst. Jarrett tries and they have enough shortcuts to make this not TOTALLY horrible. Jarrett hits Legend with the guitar for the win.
*1/2

Jarrett celebrated, BUT CHRISTOPHER DANIELS HOPS THE RAILING AND ATTACKS JARRETT! YEAH! He lays him out and beats on Jarrett with the bat to end the show, and yells that tradition ends here.

Match #1: America's Most Wanted vs. Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti [Rawhide Strap Match]

The rules are that there's straps tied to the ropes. Lame. AMW has a lot of fire and hate here, and that makes this the best match in this feud yet. They go way too far with some of the kickouts here, since nobody in the crowd gives a shit about Johnny or Diamond, but AMW wins with the Death Sentence.
**1/4

Team Me attacks post-match, and Glenn Gilberti kidnaps the tag title belts and runs to the back.

In the back, Jerry Lynn tries to get in the building, but Red Shirt Security blocks him and Don Callis comes over. He says he's been banned from the building for excessive violence last week. Fuck yeah, Don Callis.

Match #2: Michael Shane vs. Shark Boy vs. Joey Matthews vs. Danny Doring [X Title #1 Contenders Elimination Match]
This sure happened. This is not awful. Doring is the only one here who is actively bad. Good Shark/Shane finishing run and he hits a Fisherman DDT to win.
**1/4

In the back, Erik Watts repeats how everyone is banned from ringside tonight and Russo will be handcuffed to him.

Shane Douglas comes out and brags about pinning Raven for the last two weeks in the six mans and goes on forever about being Franchise'd and Raven walks through the crowd with a body bag, and he gets in. He beats up Douglas, and he hits the Evenflow. He opens up the body bag, but James Mitchell comes on the screen and is in the back with The New Church and they've attacked Julio and Alexis. Brian Lee has a stick on fire and Mitchell says he can either save his friends or finish off Shane Douglas. Raven thinks about it, and like he's actually pissed at himself, he runs to the back to save them!

Match #3: Kid Kash w/ Abyss vs. Larry Zbyszko
Why? Why is this a thing that's happening? They do stuff and it is less awful than last week. Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam, and Kash wins.
*1/2

In the back, Raven is looking for The Gathering, but cannot find them.

In the ring, The New Church has Julio and Alexis tied up and Mitchell says Raven is going soft in his old age, caring more for his followers, maybe even friends, than about his own personal revenge. Raven came out with a trash can lid and he killed Slash and Brian Lee with it! He went for Mitchell by the throat, but Shane Douglas then ran out and hit the Belly to Belly. They then all beat on Raven, and they put Raven in the body bag!

In the back, Team Me and Gilberti brags about stealing the belts, but AMW runs on and brawls with them! They brawl back to the ring, and it turns into a 3 on 2. The heels take off their belts and whip AMW with them a lot, and yeah. Referees come out to break it up.

Match #4: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Frankie Kazarian [NWA X Division Championship]
Another fun spotfest here. Kazarian isn't fast or crisp or inventive enough to pull off an actually great spotfest, but Sabin rules. There is a ref bump and then Sabin hits Frankie with the title belt and the ref wakes up to count the pin. Another ref comes out to restart it and as Sabin protests, Kazarian hits the Wave of the Future and the second ref counts the pin!
**3/4

The referees argue, and head referee Rudy Charles comes out and takes the belt to the back with him and says he's taking it to Erik Watts.

Horrible 3LK seg.

Christopher Daniels is in the crowd, and he has the mic. He says for nine years, he tried to follow tradition, and earlier this year, he embraced Sports Entertainment, and found success. He says the evolution from tradition to sports entertainment is only natural, but TNA resists it, so he had to cast the first stone at tradition's most ardent supporter, Jeff Jarrett. He says he's here to help bring the light to everyone, nad Jeff Jarrett comes through the crowd to attack him. They fight, and Daniels bails out.

The cage is being set up, but Jeff Jarrett comes into the ring and gets a chair. He calls Daniels out, but Red Shirt Security comes out. He swings the chair at them and Black Shirt Security comes out to yell at Red Shirt Security. IT HAS BEGUN. Christopher Daniels then comes back out through the crowd to attack Jeff, but Jarrett easily starts beating the shit out of him. GOTTA KEEP JARRETT STRONG, DUDE. Red Shirt Security pulls Jarrett off, allowing Daniels to get a low blow and the Last Rites.

In the back, AMW challenges Team Me and Gilberti to a six man bullrope match next week and they say that their partner will be Dusty Rhodes!

Hype video for the main event.

Match #5: AJ Styles [c] w/ Vince Russo vs. D'Lo Brown [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - Steel Cage Match - Russo Is Handcuffed To Erik Watts At Ringside]
Awesome match, once again. More of an amazing singular AJ performance than their previous matches as this is 90% him taking lunatic bumps. Into the cage, on the mat, etc. Both men bleed, and then AJ takes some more completely ridiculous bumps. D'Lo goes up to the top of the cage for a super Low Down, BUT RUSSO THROWS POWDER IN WATTS' EYES! He tries to shake the cage, but then Watts throws Russo into the cage AND IT KNOCKS D'LO OFF THE TOP TO THE MAT! AJ PUTS AN ARM OVER FOR THE WIN! Neat finish.

Match #1: 3 Live Kru vs. Sinn/Vampire Warrior/Devon Storm

Blatant 3LK showcase. Killings wasn't in this at all though, so it was the drizzling shits. BG wins with the Pumphandle Slam.
3/4*

Erik Watts comes out to open the show and says a lot of horrible stuff and calls AJ Styles and Vince Russo to the ring. They come back and Russo says there's nobody here that AJ hasn't beaten this year and says there won't be a title match since they're going on vacation and Russo says now THEY have all the stroke around here! They try to leave, but AJ books him vs. Ki tonight for the belt. That would have been way more effective if Ki showed up first or if they built to that at all. Low Ki then comes back officially and attacks AJ in the ring! Fucking Joe Legend saves, but Jeff Jarrett runs out to fight him off and Ki knocks AJ out of the ring with a kick and holds up the belt. Could have been done SO much better.

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews Team Me and Gilberti, who cuts a horrible promo saying they won't just stand there and take Dusty's elbows like Arn, Tully, and JJ, and Diamond then does a hideous Dusty impression.

Match #2: Jerry Lynn vs. Elix Skipper
They wrestle. Lynn uses the scale now, and then wins with a Sleeper Hold.
**

Don Callis comes out and shakes his head and Lynn dares him to suspend him again. DO IT!

Recap of the X Title stuff last week.

Match #3: Frankie Kazarian vs. Michael Shane [X Division #1 Contender's Ladder Match]
Predictable ladder fare. I appreciate Shane's willingness to die on bumps and dives. They manage to have enough brutal stuff to make this halfway interesting despite there not being any real story going on. Chris Sabin comes out when they both battle on the ladder, and he shoves them off to the floor! He then climbs up and grabs the contract!
**3/4

Don Callis comes out and he takes the X Title and the contract and walks to the back.

In the back, Jeff Jarrett says he never thought he'd hate Vince Russo this much, but he does, and he realizes he'll have to take out Vince Russo before he gets his title back.

Match #4: Kid Kash vs. Bobby Eaton
The best of the Kash/Legend matches, probably because Bobby Eaton is amazing. Great selling, punches, etc. Abyss wins out and then gets a low blow in, which is a horrible spot for a big monster guy, and Kash then gets a roll up to win.
**

In the back, Legend is beating up Erik Watts. Okay.

Match #5: Raven vs. Shane Douglas [New Church Banned From Ringside]
This happens. Douglas throws some really embarrassing chops that are even worse than post-comeback Shawn Michaels' awful chops. The kind of chops that have no follow through or force behind them at all. Raven rules with his chops and his fire, and he does all the work towards making this not awful. Raven has it won, but Father James Mitchell drags out a full bodybag. He says he can win this match and show how egotistical he really is or he can come save Alexis, who has about 15 seconds left. Douglas goes to hut him, but he then gets a schoolboy to win.
**

Raven then goes out and unzips the bag, but a man's hand grabs him by the throat. The lights go out for a bit, and when they come back on, Raven is laid out. Awful.

A video airs on the D'Lo/Siaki feud.

In the back, Don Callis still has the X Title and announces the first ever ULTIMATE X MATCH for next week. I hope I don't have to explain the rules.

Match #6: America's Most Wanted/Dusty Rhodes vs. Team Me/Glenn Gilbert
NO LONGER A BULLROPE MATCH? UGH. FUCK YOU. It's obvious that weapons and blood is the only way Diamond and Johnny are going to have a good match, etc. Gilberti pulls out a bullrope at the end, but Dusty hits him with the cow bell and drops the elbow for the win.
*1/2

Dusty celebrates, but Christopher Daniels runs out from the crowd and he attacks Dusty! Jeff Jarrett then runs out and fights off ALL FOUR HEELS WITH HIS PUNCHES. SO AWFUL. OH, BUT JOE LEGEND IS THE ONE WHO CAN LAY OUT JARRETT. FUCK THIS FUCKING COMPANY. Legend, Team Me, and Daniels beat on Jarrett and AMW, but OH GREAT, ERIK WATTS IS HERE FOR THE SAVE! He then books an AMW vs. Team Me bullrope match for next week. And then he and Jarrett vs. Joe Legend and Daniels.

DW and Tenay hype up the Ultimate X match.

A video airs on Jeff Jarrett. ENOUGH.

Match #7: AJ Styles [c] w/ Vince Russo vs. Low Ki [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
This is AJ Styles vs. Low Ki for 15 minutes, so it's one of the best matches in TNA all year. Considering how completely amazing their, I want to say, 5 singles matches were in 2002-3, it's insane that this is their final singles match together. I maybe forgot a match they could have had in 2006-7, but I doubt it. Just amazing chemistry together, and it feels like a big generational rivalry. AS IT WILL BE IN WCW. It isn't QUITE on the level of their ROH Title match or the Zero-One match, but it is better than their X Title matches and their first ROH match. Amazing matwork, highspots, bumps, strikes, etc. Great story where AJ could handle Low Ki before, but now that he's come back from Japan with a lot of new tricks, AJ is caught off guard. Don West actually did a good job getting over that after 7 months of fighting heavyweights, AJ has gotten used to not having to really try to be the fastest guy in a match, so that's another advantage Ki has. Really crisp too, aside from one flubbed kick. CRAZY AJ STRIKE FLURRY! This isn't quite as good as the AMW/XXX cage match due it not really getting the big epic finishing run. Ki goes after Russo, but it allows AJ to knock Ki out with Russo's bat for the win.

NWA-TNA
August 20th, 2003

The show begins with Raven and Shane Douglas fighting in the ring and Punk and Dinero fighting Sinn (who I guess replaced Brian Lee) and Slash in the crowd. RAVEN HITS THE EVENFLOW! FUCK YEAH! He gets on the mic and calls out his mystery attacker, and the lights go out. They are out for a while, and when they come back on, Raven is down and the mystery guy has a noose. Shane joins in and they bloody Raven. They hang him over the ropes with the noose around his neck. The New Church comes back in and Mitchell tries to cut Raven's hair, but Punk and Julio run back into the ring with chairs to run them off.

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews Jerry Lynn. He complains about Callis costing him money, and Don Callis comes over. Lynn grabs him by the shirt, so Callis then fines him $5,000 for assaulting an official. Red Shirt Security comes over to escort him out of the building and Callis says he won't accept a personal check.

Hype video for Ultimate X.

Match #1: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Michael Shane [NWA X Division Championship - Ultimate X Match]
I really have no issue with the Ultimate X concept when used sparingly. This was sort of a prototype of the UX match as opposed to being a really great spotfest, as the belt keeps falling down due to using shaky wire instead of rope like in the later ones. The spots were all good to great, and Shane bled a lot. Sabin and Kazarian fight on the wire near the belt and Shane comes out from the side and pulls the belt down with him!
**3/4

In the parking lot, Siaki and Desire arrive with hearse and a coffin and Siaki says he's going to bury D'Lo Brown's career tonight.

Hype video for the Bullrope Match.

Match #2: America's Most Wanted vs. Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti
Another fun AMW performance, despite their opponents bringing absolutely nothing to the table. Lots of fire from Harris and Storm and they have some fun spots with the rope here. They put on a quality brawl without going too far for the second match of the night, and Gilberti interferes. Diamond hits Harris with the title belt for the win. That makes sense, as it will set up a final match next week where AMW retains the belts and then this horrible team goes away forever. Right?
**1/4

In the back, Scott Hudson is with The Gathering. Julio says Raven is badly hurt, and they challenge The New Church to a tag match later on.

Sonny Siaki and Trinity came out for the horrible burial segment. Long segment made short: D'Lo put them both in the casket and wheeled it off.

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews the team of Christopher Daniels and Legend. Legend says he's sorry that he has to destroy a few local legends tonight. Daniels says he tried to help them and the fans, but they rejected the way of the light, and now they must pay for their sins, and both Jeff Jarrett and Erik Watts will pay for the sins of their fathers. And that's the gospel according to the Fallen Angel.

Match #3: CM Punk/Julio Dinero w/ Alexis Laree vs. The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell
Sinn is replacing Brian Lee. Not sure if that's full time, but it's not that much of an improvement. I would think it would be, but Brian Lee hasn't been awful in 2003. They have a fun brawl early on, and Punk does a real good job. Shane Douglas comes back out and he hits Julio with a chain, and Slash pins him to win.
**1/4

Post-match, Shane hits Alexis with the Belly to Belly, and then he cuts off a lock of her hair.

A pretape airs with Mike Tenay and Erik Watts. Watts goes on and on about how there's no politics or anything, and explains that he represents the NWA side and Don Callis represents the TNA side, and accuses Callis of favoring Russo's side of things.

There's apparently a #1 Contender's Gauntlet For The Gold Match tonight. Nice of them to announce that.

Match #4: Jeff Jarrett/Erik Watts vs. Christopher Daniels/Joe Legend
Jarrett vs. Daniels was fun, but this had way too much of Legend and Watts. Jarrett schoolboys Legend with the tights to win.
*3/4

Daniels and Legend keep attacking them post-match and both Black Shirt and Red Shirt Security came out. They then fought. Awful. Jerry Lynn comes out from the crowd to attack Red Shirt Security, but they overpowered him and took him to the back ahahahaa. Two random fans in Jason and Freddy masks then hopped the railing and they handcuffed Watts to the railing. Jason got in, AND HE HIT JARRETT WITH THE STYLES CLASH! IT'S AJ AND RUSSO! Russo gets on the mic and says Jarrett gets no title shot and he will not be in the Gauntlet either. Russo brings in a table, and AJ, Daniels, and Legend hit Jarrett with a triple team Powerbomb off the middle buckle through the table! And taking a good angle and turning it into something ridiculous, they carry Jarrett off through the crowd and they load him in Siaki's hearse and AJ and Russo drive off with him.

NEXT WEEK: DUSTY VS. GILBERTI IN A BULLROPE MATCH

Match #5: #1 CONTENDER'S GAUNTLET FOR THE GOLD~
-Kid Kash and Ron Killings are first and they randomly work really great together
-#3 is Christopher Daniels
-This is already much better than the last Gauntlet they had
-#4 BG James

-#6 is supposed to be Jeff Jarrett, but he's being driven to his grave, so he can't enter
-#7 is D'Lo
-He goes for Siaki
-Mad Mikey comes out and says he's mad about not being in this
-D'Lo tosses Siaki out
#8 is Abyss
-ABYSS TOSSES OUT 3LK! YEAH!
-He also tosses out Kid Kash
-Mad Mikey gets in and Abyss tosses him too
-#9 IS THE SANDMAN! YEAH!
-Sandman vs. Abyss briefly rules
-#10 is Joe Legend

-#11 is Konnan
-It occurs to me that they never said how many people were in this

-Daniels tosses D'Lo after the Angel's Wings
