NWA World Heavyweight Champion: AJ Styles, Since 6/11/2003 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
NWA World Tag Team Champions: America's Most Wanted, Since 6/25/2003
NWA X-Division Champion: Michael Shane, Since 8/20/2003

NWA-TNA
August 27th, 2003
Nashville, TN

TONIGHT: AJ/Raven for the NWA Title

Match #1: 3 Live Kru vs. Shane Douglas/The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell
Oh my god, AWFUL. HORRIBLE. Shane Douglas vs. Konnan in 2003 is a fucking disaster. Mitchell does commentary and vows to cut Raven's hair. He then gets in the ring to distract Killings, but then The Gathering runs out to attack the heels, and they win by DQ, I think. No decision is announced.
3/4*

The faces clear the ring.

In the parking lot, Sonny Siaki has another hearse and says he's burying D'Lo's career for good next.

Match #2: D'Lo Brown vs. Sonny Siaki w/ Trinity
This was alright. D'Lo did a good carryjob, I suppose. D'Lo randomly breaks out huge spots and bumps with a Moonsault off the apron and taking a Powerbomb on the floor. At this point, I regret not bringing D'Lo back to WCW in 2003 and having a miracle run, maybe briefly winning the US Title from Christian. Oh well. Put that up there with wasting X-Pac in 98-99. Trinity interferes with a Tornado DDT to D'Lo, and then Siaki hits the Siakalypse Now for the win. AWFUL.
**1/4

They take D'Lo to the parking lot, but now Jeff Jarrett attacks Siaki and shoves him in the hearse. I get it, it's revenge on Camp Russo for last week, but there goes Jarrett taking another face's comeback spot. Also, what happened to him after last week? Why is he totally fine now? What the fuck?

Don Callis comes out to ringside and he complains about Erik Watts giving Jerry Lynn an X Division Title shot and Tenay hops on Lynn's dick about how he established the X Division, somehow by being there as AJ Styles, Low Ki, and Red fought each other. West, being amazing, asks why Callis cares so much about Jerry Lynn when he's done nothing, and Callis says he cares about people following the rules and Lynn is being rewarded for bad behavior.

Recap of Ultimate X last week.

In the back, Michael Shane is interviewed, and he is now a sunglasses wearing, gum chewing, cocky heel. He says is the showstopper, the main event, the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels.......'s cousin, Michael Shane! I laughed. I hate myself.

Match #3: Michael Shane [c] vs. Jerry Lynn [NWA X Division Championship]
Don Callis stayed on commentary. This was pretty average. I think Shane CAN be good against a guy who's flashier on offense, like Paul London or Sabin or from what I remember in 2004, AJ Styles. Lynn is not that guy. Lynn is setting up for his finish at the end, but Red Shirt Security comes out when Callis waves to the back. Lynn knocks them to the apron, but then Shane Superkicks him for the win.
**1/4

A sitdown interview airs with Mike Tenay and Raven from earlier today in Raven's locker room. He says sometimes in life, you have choices, sometimes a choice is made for you, and sometimes, you have no choice. That's how he feels about the NWA Title, like he has no other option but to go for it whenever he can. He says he remembers Tommy Rich being one of the youngest World Champions in any company ever, but then he got into a brutal blood feud with Buzz Sawyer, and he could never do it again. He says in ECW, he was the World Champion, but then he got embroiled with two of the biggest blood feuds of the last decade with Tommy Dreamer and Sandman, and he hasn't been able to get back to the top since. AND HE WILL NOT BE THIS GENERATION'S TOMMY RICH! AND NOBODY WILL STOP HIM FROM ACHIEVING HIS DESTINY OF BECOMING THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! AJ Styles and Vince Russo walk over before he can do the catchphrase and AJ asks if it's his birthday with all the candles and tells him not to put on his mascara, because he'll knock it right off him again. He says it's not happening tonight and calls him old man, so Raven shoves him down, and Russo has to drag AJ away.

Match #4: Abyss vs. The Sandman
Fun while it lasted for a few minutes, but it soon became a platform for another angle. Kid Kash came out to yell at Abyss for eliminating him last week, and he slaps him. Abyss tries to Powerbomb him out to the floor, but Kash counters into a Huracanrana, and referees make Kash go to the back. Abyss then wins with the Black Hole Slam.
**

In the back, Terry Taylor asks Kid KAsh what he was doing out there, and Abyss comes over. Kash yells at Abyss and Taylor tells Abyss to stand up for himself. Kash slaps Terry, who goes after him, but Abyss stands in front of Kash and Taylor leaves like a bitch.

Match #5: America's Most Wanted [c] vs. Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This happened. AMW looked great carrying the duds once again, but they dragged it down once again. This is the debut of the OMG TOWER OF DOOM~ spot, and it knocks James Storm out, so he's out of the match after that. They do some stuff, and Gilberti hits Harris with a chair from the floor AND OH MY GOD AWFUL, AMW LOSES THE BELTS. FUCK EVERYTHING. FUCK LIFE. WHY? I'm not going to claim that AMW are an all time great team, and I'd only call them a top 5 team in the world in 2003 because there's not a lot else in terms of tag teams, apart from Guerreros, WGTT, Briscoes, and KENTA/Marufuji. But they are obviously TNA's best tag team, and if I was booking here, they wouldn't even lose the belts until 2004, where they have actual challenges. Ugh.
**

Match #6: Dusty Rhodes vs. Glenn Gilberti [Bullrope Match]

Great old man Dusty showing again. Gilberti took a nice beating for 2-3 minutes, before Christopher Daniels comes out, and he hits Dusty with the cowbell and Gilberti covers to win. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
*3/4

Daniels and Gilberti double team him, but Chris Harris then runs out to save. Team Me comes down to attack him, but Jeff Jarrett comes out and is again the only babyface who can make a difference AND RUNS OFF ALL FOUR HEELS BY HIMSELF. GUITAR SHOT TO DANIELS! UGH.

Another 3LK vignette.

In the back, 3LK is interviewed and it is terrible. Team Me and Gilberti come over and they say they should get the attention for their wins, and Jarrett runs on and breaks another guitar on Gilberti's head.

A video airs promoting Roddy Piper's return.

NEXT WEEK: THE SUPER X TOURNAMENT!

Match #7: AJ Styles [c] w/ Vince Russo vs. Raven [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
This is AJ Styles vs. Raven in 2003, so it rules. Awesome psychology early on where Raven keeps it as a wrestling match to throw AJ off, and once AJ makes a mistake, Raven turns it into a brawl. AJ bleeds. Russo interferes so AJ can take over, but The Gathering runs out to take Russo to the back! AJ gets his awesome control seg. He gets too cocky though and tries to bring in a chair, but it's Raven, and he's able to counter that into the drop toehold to the chair to come back. They do the whole dog and pony show at the end with ref bumps and New Church involvement, but Raven is able to take out Slash and Sinn. Raven has some awesome nearfalls, and Shane Douglas comes out. He punts Raven in the groin, and AJ is able to hit the Styles Clash for the win. HOLY SHIT, RAVEN DIDN'T BLEED AT ALL DURING A BIG MATCH!!!!!!
***1/4

For whatever reason, Chris Harris and D'Lo Brown come out and they say they've all been screwed tonight by this kind of shit, and they want a restart. Team Me, Daniels, AJ, and Douglas come down though, and they attack them and Raven. AND OH GREAT, IT'S JEFF JARRETT, CLEARING HOUSE. AGAIN. Erik Watts comes out and announces a 10 man cage match next week of AJ/Daniels/Team Me/Shane vs. Jarrett/Raven/D'Lo/AMW with elements of War Games and Hardcore Matches. Dusty comes out and says he'll be the referee and names next week WEDNESDAY, BLOODY WEDNESDAY!

NWA World Heavyweight Champion: AJ Styles, Since 6/11/2003 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
NWA World Tag Team Champions: Team Me, Since 8/27/2003
NWA X-Division Champion: Michael Shane, Since 8/20/2003

NWA-TNA: WEDNESDAY, BLOODY WEDNESDAY / SUPER X CUP
September 3rd, 2003
Nashville, TN

THE BRACKET:

-Juventud Guerrera vs. Nosawa
-Teddy Hart vs. Jonny Storm
-Chris Sabin vs. Jerry Lynn
-Michael Shane vs. Frankie Kazarian

Match #1: Mad Mikey vs. Lazz
Lazz is working a generic gay gimmick. Mad Mikey is mad about this. He wins with a Tiger Driver.
*

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews Dusty Rhodes. He says he's been in a lot of violent and bloody cage matches before, and this could be one of the bloodiest. He then says it reminds him of how much he loved kicking Arn Anderson's ass, and he smiles and walks off.

Match #2: Juventud Guerrera vs. Nosawa [Quarterfinals]
Juvi was mostly on here, and had some really cool spots. Nosawa sucks, but Juvi drags him along to a good Juvi showcase. He wins with the Juvi Driver and the 450 Splash.
**1/4

In the back, Glenn Gilberti talks to Father James Mitchell and says he doesn't want his guys getting hurt out there tonight and tells Mitchell to control his people. This doesn't make sense, it's not The New Church in there, it's just Shane Douglas. Anyways, Mitchell says nothing and just nods and smiles.

Match #3: Teddy Hart vs. Jonny Storm [Quarterfinals]
Fun brief spotfest to establish Teddy. They both have awesome dives and Teddy Hart is Teddy Hart. Teddy steals London's Flying DDT and then hits an SSP for the win.
**

In the back, Siaki argues with Team Me and Shane Douglas keeps the peace.

Match #4: Chris Sabin vs. Jerry Lynn [Quarterfinals]
Another way too short but really fun spotfest. Lynn hit the TKo, but Sabin got his foot on the ropes at 3. Lynn gets mad at the ref and shakes him, but Don Callis comes out and says he'll fire him if he has to, and Lynn lets go, allowing Sabin to get a low blow and a roll up for the win.
**

In the back, Terry interviews The Gathering. Raven says he was THIS close last week, and tonight, he'll get Shane Douglas. He says the problem is that Mitchell and Douglas and The New Church have shown their hand, and he now knows that they want his hair and they want to take his identity, and that makes him a lot more dangerous. Quote the Raven, nevermore.

Match #5: Michael Shane vs. Frankie Kazarian [Quarterfinals]
Another shamefully short match. They do stuff and Kazarian wins with a cradle.
*3/4

In the back, Taylor interviews AJ Styles and Vince Russo. AJ says Erik Watts is targeting him to try and injure him to get the belt off of him, and he shouldn't be in this match. Russo says Taylor should know that this isn't fair. He says he's the most defending champion in TNA history, and they're trying to take the belt from him by any means necessary, but he's not going to let anything bad happen to AJ.

Match #6: Juventud Guerrera vs. Teddy Hart [Semi-Finals]
This is fucking Teddy Hart vs. Juvi. They do insane spots, don't sell at all, and do more insane spots. Juvi wins with the Juvi Driver and the 450 Splash.
**1/2

Match #7: Chris Sabin vs. Frankie Kazarian [Semi-Finals]

Another good spotfest, but not quite great. Probably their best match together though. Lots of cool new counters and spots. They kick out of each other's finishes like in every match in this feud, and it's the semi-finals, so why kill the finish of one of them before the finals? And then further annoying me, after finisher kickouts, Sabin wins with a normal Victory Roll. Why build the match around which big move is going to end it and then end it with a roll up?
**3/4

In the back, Taylor interviews AMW. Kid Kash and Abyss come up and he apologizes to Taylor and calls AMW AMERICA'S MOST WANNABES. OH SHIT~! Kash then slaps Taylor again and runs away, but Abyss and Red Shirt Security stop Taylor from running after him.

Match #8: Chris Sabin vs. Juventud Guerrera [Super X Cup Finals]
Awesome spotfest. Some what sloppy, but in a way that puts over the tournament as grueling as the botches all look painful as shit. They also actually have time to do this kind of a match right, at least right in my opinion. I feel like if you're going to go out and just do spots, then you have to build them up in energy and insanity as the match goes on, and they do that. Sabin wins with one Future Shock this time, somewhat restoring his finisher.
***

RODDY PIPER: IN TWO WEEKS!

At ringside, DW and Tenay shill the special $0.99 Best of TNA special next week, which I will not watch, but it has:
-Ultimate X Match
-AMW vs. XXX in the cage match
-Clockwork Orange with Team Raven vs. Team Douglas (odd pick)
-Jarrett vs. Raven
-Jarrett vs. Raven vs. AJ
-Jarrett/Sting vs. AJ/Waltman
-AJ vs. D'Lo in the Cage Match for the belt
-The following match is also on the show next week

Erik Watts came out and introduced 3LK as ringside enforcers and BG James is also the ring announcer, and makes himself the referee instead of Dusty, who is now the enforcer.

Match #9: Jeff Jarrett/Raven/D'Lo Brown/America's Most Wanted vs. AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels/Shane Douglas/Team Me w/ Vince Russo, Glenn Gilberti, & Father James Mitchell [WEDNESDAY BLOODY WEDNESDAY - Special Referee: Erik Watts - Special Enforcer: Dusty Rhodes]
There's some flaws, but there was enough good stuff to put it over the top for me. The rules are not quite ever explained. There's timed entries like War Games, (only 90 seconds though) and weapons on the wall like Clockwork Orange House of Fun. Jarrett and Daniels start and they work very well together. They get three minutes together. AJ Styles is in next, and he and Daniels make a great team. Chris Harris is in next. This match needs some blood if it's going to pretend to be War Games. AJ starts taking insane bumps. AJ and Daniels take out Jarrett with a Powerbomb through a table. Simon Diamond is in next. He contributes nothing. Jarrett is up and fighting again very soon. Awful. D'Lo is in next and is good again. It becomes really crowded in there, and Shane Douglas is next, followed by James Storm, then Johnny Swinger. The faces and AJ/Daniels are clearly carrying the others. When Shane and Team Me pose together, the crowd chants "TRIPLE THREAT!", which could be potentially the worst three man stable ever, at this point. The heels now finally begin to bloody up the faces. Raven finally came out and had an awesome run when he got in. Jarrett takes out Daniels with the guitar and AMW takes out the tag champions. Jarrett hits AJ with the Stroke off the top, and then D'Lo and Chris Harris hit a Frog Splash and Flying Legdrop at the same time on AJ from opposite corners and D'Lo pins him to win.
***

Siaki, Trinity, Legend, and Gilberti run out and they attack Dusty at ringside. The Gathering runs down to save, and 3LK helps. Everyone brawls to end the show, so in actuality, this match, booked to settle all the various issues to regain order of the show, settled absolutely nothing.

NWA-TNA
September 17th, 2003
Nashville, TN

TONIGHT: Piper is back, AJ vs. Lynn for the belt, Raven vs. Douglas - Hair vs. Hair

Match #1: America's Most Wanted vs. Kid Kash/Abyss vs. Ron Killings/BG James vs. The New Church [#1 Contender's Match][/b]
Konnan and Mitchell are both there. Some pairings were good, like those with Kash, AMW, and Killings together. Kash slapped Abyss to motivate him, and he killed almost everyone. Terry Taylor then ran out to low blow Kash, and Killings got a Scissors Kick after that to win. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T START A TERRY TAYLOR/ABYSS FEUD.
*3/4

They run down the show again at ringside.

Roddy Piper comes out to the ring and said he's back, and does a lot of Piperisms about how he doesn't have a mental filter and complains about people saying he's a drug addict, and says some sleazebag promoter made that up. He says he's here to ride a rocket ship that's going to the top and Vince Russo comes out. He says the last time Piper was here, he broke his heart, obviously talking about the really uncomfortable segment in 2002. Russo says Piper has burned every bridge and nobody wants him around anymore. He says he doesn't either and says that NWA-TNA has a decision to make, and says they either choose Russo or Piper, and if he goes, so does AJ Styles!

Hype video for D'Lo/Siaki.

Match #2: D'Lo Brown vs. Sonny Siaki [Casket Match]
RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! The casket randomly starts the match in the ring, which is quite awkward and drags this down. D'Lo has it won, BUT FUCKING JAMAL COMES IN AND LAYS HIM OUT! AWESOME! He hits a gigantic Flying Splash and helps Siaki put D'Lo in the casket to win. Really awful that they're wasting Jamal on Siaki.
*3/4

In the back, Scott Hudson is with Don Callis. He protests Jerry Lynn being given an NWA Title shot after his recent behavior and Erik Watts comes over. He says he has all the power and then says he has the documents to prove it, which is just a ploy for him to give Callis the finger. Inventive. Russo comes over and yells at them both that either Piper goes or he and the NWA Title are gone.

Match #3: Chris Sabin/Michael Shane/Nosawa vs. Frankie Kazarian/Juventud Guerrera/Eric Young
Hey, Eric Young! They do some fun spots for a few minutes, and Kazarian spends most of the match flirting with women in the crowd instead. Sabin hits Eric Young with the X Title, and Shane tags himself in and steals the pin.
**1/4

A video airs on the Jarrett/Daniels feud.

NEXT WEEK: Jarrett vs. Daniels

Jeff Jarrett comes out to the ring, and he gets on the mic. He says he wants his title shot after three damn months of waiting and watching lesser wrestlers get title shots. He says as far as this big choice between Russo and Piper, it's a no brainer, because Piper actually cares about this business, and finishes by saying he is the hunter and Christopher Daniels is the hunted.

Match #4: Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti vs. Shark Boy/Mad Mikey
This sure happened. Diamond and Johnny again brought nothing to this, and the faces were alright. They eventually win after interference allows them to hit the Problem Solver.
*1/2

A hype video airs for AJ/Lynn.

Match #5: AJ Styles [c] w/ Trinity vs. Jerry Lynn [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
Not the best AJ defense due to Lynn being Lynn, but still a really strong AJ performance carrying Lynn. Some really insane AJ bumps. Lynn bleeds and AJ works the cut very well. It's 2003, so we get a NORTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX INTO THE CORNER! YEAH! Some great stuff at the end, and AJ wins clean with the Styles Clash.
***

Russo comes back out and says the moment of truth has come and he wants a decision. Dusty Rhodes then comes out and says it's not NWA's decision and it is AJ 's decision! He tries to talk to AJ about how he doesn't need Russo to keep the belt and says Russo is using him and the title. AJ grabs Russo's bat, AND HE HANDS TO DUSTY AND WALKS OFF! OH SHIT! Russo begs off, BUT AJ HITS DUSTY FROM BEHIND! SWERVE ALMOST! They beat on him, and Piper tries to come out, but Red Shirt Security drags him away, which I guess means Russo won out. Jeff Jarrett then runs out and AJ and Russo bail.

Hype video for the main event.

Match #6: Raven vs. Shane Douglas [Hair vs. Hair]
This was what it was. Not great, but it could have been so much worse if not for all the smoke and mirrors shenanigans. The New Church and The Gathering both get involved, referees get taken out, etc. Raven has it won after the Evenflow, but the lights go out. They come back on, AND OH GREAT, IT'S FUCKING VAMPIRO. GOD DAMNIT. GOD FUCKING DAMNIT. He hits a shitty DDT on Raven now and I guess he was the mystery man. Shane covers Raven to win.
**1/4

Raven is shaved bald by Father James Mitchell, and he is not a good haircutter and he bloodies Raven's scalp too.

In the parking lot, Don Callis and Erik Watts argue and Callis says Watts books the matches, and he's in charge of everything else.

3LK comes out for their tag title match, but David Young, Simon Diamond, and Glenn Gilberti attacks them on the floor, and they take them out. They get in the ring and Gilberti says they were supposed to defend the tag titles against 3LK, but they are in no condition to wrestle, and then Raven and The Gathering hits the ring and runs them off. Raven is really weird looking bald and says every time he looks in the mirror, he wants to scream and says he's been called paranoid, depressive, manic, and insane, and he's going to hunt down The New Church one by one and said God better have mercy on James Mitchell when he's done with him.

TONIGHT: Jarrett vs. Daniels, Kid Kash vs. Terry Taylor

Match #1: Chris Sabin vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Juventud Guerrera vs. Nosawa [#1 Contender's Elimination Match]
Fun spotfest, once again. Nosawa drags it down, but he is out first with a Juvi Driver. Kazarian is a lot better here as a heel. Sabin is basically working as a face, which is for the best, since he's the X Division guy that everyone cheers for anyways. Lynn/Sabin is shockingly good. Sabin again beats Kazarian with the debuting Cradle Shock. Juvi is eliminated after a Lynn roll up. Michael Shane now comes out to watch, and when the ref is down briefly, he tries to hit Lynn with the belt, but he ducks and it hits Sabin! Lynn throws him out and he hits Sabin with the Cradle Piledriver for the win.
**3/4

In the back, Mad Mikey and Shark Boy are hanging out, and Jamal comes over and beats the shit out of them. Tenay yells that his name is Ekmo Fatu. Awful name.

Don Callis comes out with Red Shirt Security and gets on the mic. He says Roddy Piper is banned from the Asylum for life and says some people need to learn some respect, and especially Jeff Jarrett. Erik Watts comes out and says he won't do anything and says Jarrett/Daniels is still on. He also books AJ vs. Dusty in a Bunkhouse Brawl, and much less amazingly, 3LK vs. Gilberti/Diamond/Young. And then jumping all the way to awful, he books RED SHIRT SECURITY VS. BLACK SHIRT SECURITY!

Match #2: Red Shirt Security vs. Black Shirt Security
This is a fucking match. It's awful. There's a reason they're security and not actual roster members in maycabe. Or I'd like to believe that, but I'm pretty sure Red Shirt Security wins the belts at some point, so that's awful. Erik Watts interferes and Chokeslams Kevin Northcutt of RSS and one of the BSS guys covers to win. In response, Don yells "THERE IS A GOD, MIKE!"
TNA 2010

Hype video for Kid Kash/Terry Taylor. Fucking really?

Match #3: Kid Kash w/ Abyss vs. Terry Taylor
AMW comes out to neutralize Abyss being there. This was alright, I guess. AMW cuts off Abyss' interference, and then Harris Spears Kash behind the ref's back. Taylor covers him to win.
*3/4

Hype video for Jarrett/Daniels.

Match #4: Jeff Jarrett vs. Christopher Daniels
Only about 10 minutes, but a lot of fun. Not a ton of story, just basic heel vs. face stuff done really well. Jarrett wins with The Stroke.
**3/4

Before the next match, they randomly announce that in the six man next, the tag titles are on the line. Which is really fucked up, not only because it's a six man, but because only one of the champions is in this match.

Match #5: Simon Diamond [c]/Glenn Gilberti/David Young vs. 3 Live Kru [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This sure as fuck happened. Killings and David Young both looked good, but otherwise, this was ass. Gilberti hits BG JAmes with a chair to the back as he runs off the ropes, and David Young hits the Spinebuster for the win.
*3/4

In the parking lot, Dusty Rhodes is putting on his elbow pad by his truck, but AJ Styles attacks him in the parking lot, and the match is on.

Match #6: AJ Styles vs. Dusty Rhodes [Bunkhouse Match]
This had a ton of potential, but never really became awesome since it was more of an angle at the end and never really finished. They get to the ring and Russo comes out to help AJ. Doesn't last long, as he pulls his pants down to try and make Dusty kiss his ass, but Dusty counters and spanks him instead. Weird. Trinity gets involved too, and she is also spanked. Tenay randomly says that the ref has thrown this out due to interference. God fucking damnit, TNA.
**1/4

AJ gets on the mic on the floor and challenges Dusty to an NWA Title match next week! Russo waved him off and said not to give Dusty a title shot like he wants but instead, it can be he and AJ vs. Dusty and Jarrett, and AJ agrees to it.

NEXT WEEK: That tag, Kid Kash/Abyss vs. AMW, Shane vs. Lynn for the X Title

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews Father James Mitchell, and he says he wants to know how Raven feels about being the first man to be scalped on live television.

Match #7: Raven/CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Shane Douglas/The New Church [Triple Dog Collar Match]
Bloody garbage match. Fun, but not quite great. The camera at the end stays focused on Raven and Douglas, and misses Julio beating Sinn with some manner of an offensive move resulting in a pin.
**1/2

The New Church attacks post-match though, and they hang all three Gathering Members over the top rope to end the show.

NWA-TNA
October 1st, 2003
Nashville, TN

In the parking lot, AJ and Russo arrive, and Russo says he's going to break bread with Jeff tonight.

Match #1: America's Most Wanted vs. Kid Kash/Abyss
This was surprisingly good. AMW and Kash work well together, and it is the least I have hated Kash yet in 2003. They do a good job of playing hit and run with Abyss and then they bump well for him. Kash actually looks great bumping around here, and maybe being in a tag team with a bigger guy is his calling. James Storm gets a great hot tag, but Kash hits him with a chair as he runs off the ropes, and Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam to win.
**3/4

Terry taylor comes out to protest the decision, but he also gets the Black Hole Slam, and then Kash slaps him.

Tenay and Don West announce that on 10/22, Jeff Jarrett will get an NWA Title shot. :(

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews Michael Shane, and he says no longer is he Shawn Michaels' cousin, but Shawn Michaels is the cousin of Michael Shane!

Chris Sabin comes out with the Super X trophy, and he joins commentary for the next match.

Match #2: Michael Shane [c] vs. Jerry Lynn [NWA X Division Championship]
Sabin says that he deserves a title shot more than Lynn after winning the tournament, and says Shane fears him, and that's why he cost him the match last week. They sort of just have a match, which is not shocking. Lynn gets into a shoving match with Sabin on the floor after throwing Shane into him. Lynn then goes up top, but Sabin shoves him off the top, and Shane slides in to hit a Superkick to win.
**1/4

In the back, Hudson interviews Mad Mikey and Shark Boy. D'Lo comes over and says he's heard that they have Sonny Siaki and Ekmo tonight, and he'd be glad to interfere on their behalf. Don Callis and Red Shirt Security come over and Callis says D'Lo won't go into business for himself and ruin his show, and says after his match next, he advises him to leave.

Match #3: Christopher Daniels vs. D'Lo Brown
They sort of just have a match without much of a story or a flow, but the spots are mostly pretty fun and both men look good. Callis and Red Shirt Security come out to distract D'Lo and Daniels hits the Last Rites for the win.
**3/4

In the back, Erik Watts is with one of the Black Shirt Security guys and Scott Hudson. He says this kid got injured in the security match last week, and says Don Callis should pay his medical bills. Callis comes over with RSS and says this is pro wrestling and the kid is an independent contractor and he's not paying for anything. He says Watts booked the match, so he should pay. That actually makes a ton of sense.

Match #4: Sonny Siaki/Ekmo w/ Trinity vs. Shark Boy/Mad Mikey
Jamal/Umaga was awesome as usual. Siaki sucked and dragged this down. Ekmo beats Sharkie with a Flying Splash.
*1/2

They keep on the attack, but D'Lo Brown runs out to save. Don Callis and RSS come out and Callis has D'Lo handcuffed and taken out of the building.

In the back, Hudson interviews Jarrett and Dusty tonight. Dusty says he's going to teach AJ Styles a lesson about respect tonight, and Jeff Jarrett says in 3 weeks, he's going to win back his title.

Match #5: The Sandman vs. David Young
This was a lot of fun. Sandman is Sandman, and David Young doesn't totally look out of his depth. They don't go more than 5 minutes, but it was enjoyable. Sandman hits a Frankensteiner, followed by the Rolling Rock for the win.
**1/4

Gilberti and Diamond run down, and they attack Sandman, but 3LK runs out to save.

In the back, Russo is talking to Jarrett and Russo has a ton of pads on. He yells that they're supposed to be friends and that he made Jeff Jarrett and they can do business together in the future. Jarrett threatens to break the guitar on his head, so he runs away.

In the back, The New Church is with Vampiro and Shane Douglas. Father James Mitchell says Raven is officially done, and thanks Shane Douglas for his help, and says if he needs a favor in the future, all he has to do is ask. He says now, he and Vampiro will move on to phase two! Shane then joins commentary for the next match.

Match #6: 3 Live Kru vs. Vampiro/The New Church w/ Father James Mitchell
Shane says he's looking for a New Franchise to pass down his knowledge too. This is a horrible horrible fucking match, but thankfully, it is not long, as Vampiro uses the cane of Mitchell for the DQ.
3/4*

Raven runs out with a chain, and he hits Vampiro and Sinn and Slash with it. He wraps it around Mitchell's neck, and Shane Douglas tries to save, but then Raven hits him with it too. He clotheslines Shane out, but it allows Vampiro to pull Mitchell to safety. Raven gets on the mic and again vows to eliminate them all one by one until Mitchell is all alone.

NEXT WEEK: AMW vs. Kash/Abyss with Taylor as the special referee, Shane vs. Sabin with the X Title AND the Super X Trophy on the line, ABD WORST OF ALL, D'LO BROWN & CHRIS VAUGN OF BLACK SHIRT SECURITY VS. RED SHIRT SECURITY!

Match #7: AJ Styles/Vince Russo w/ Trinity vs. Jeff Jarrett/Dusty Rhodes
Fun wrestler/manager vs. wrestler/legend match. Lots of work from AJ on bumping and selling to make this great, since Russo can't really do anything and Dusty is old and slow, since it's 2003. Jarrett is alright too, but whatever, this is AJ's house. Trinity is taken out and Jarrett hits Russo with the bat! AJ is hit with the Stroke, and Dusty then drops an elbow to pin.
**1/2

Dusty spanks AJ post-match, and he rolls out. Dusty and Jarrett celebrate, but AJ gets on the mic on the floor. He says nobody embarrasses the champion like that and he challenges Dusty to a match next week! Russo says no, AND AJ SHOVES HIM BACK! Dusty challenges AJ to put the title up, AND AJ ACCEPTS! Jarrett then gets in Dusty's face and says that title shot goes to him first and shoves Dusty, and they argue to end the show.

Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt/Dallas have a tag team too that is better than it has any right being, whenever you get to that. Still not great, but a continuation of the Kash + big man formula that for some reason works.

TONIGHT: AJ vs. Dusty for the belt

Jeff Jarrett comes out to open the show, and he asks Dusty Rhodes to come out here to listen to him about what happened last week. He says Dusty knew what he was doing, robbing him of his title match, and Dusty comes out onto the stage. He says this facade has gone on between them for a year now, and he's done some soul searching. He says Dusty is no different than any other icon, and as soon as Dusty had a shot, he threw their friendship under the bus so he could get one last title shot. Dusty keeps trying to talk but Jarrett yells that it's his time now. Jarrett says it's in his best interests to leave tonight, and he'll let Dusty have his final shot, and in two weeks, he doesn't care which one of them he has to go through, because it's 2003, and the NWA Title is HIS birthright and he will get it back.

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ Styles, and he's asking where Russo is, and why he's not here yet. Sonny Siaki and Ekmo come in, and they say Russo might not be here yet, but they had his back.

Match #1: D'Lo Brown/Chris Vaugn vs. Red Shirt Security w/ Don Callis
D'Lo is the only good one in this, and he's hardly in. They kill Vaugn a lot and Kevin Northcutt does a shitty Tiger Bomb for the win.
3/4*

They beat down D'Lo post-match, until Erik Watts runs out to save.

A sitdown interview airs with Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes. He says he doesn't have the words to describe what it meant to be the NWA Champion in 1979 or 1981, and you had to be there at the time to really understand what an honor it was. He says he knows he's old and maybe 20 years past his prime, but the fans drive him to do crazy things, and he might just have one more win left in him.

Footage airs of Jerry Lynn storming out of the building last week, and it is said that Callis suspended him.

Match #2: Michael Shane [c] vs. Chris Sabin [NWA X Division Championship vs. Super X Cup]
Sabin is much more natural of a face, and it shows. This is fairly enjoyable. Shane shows promise of becoming a great basic heel, but it just never really happened. They do some stuff and yeah. Sabin has it won, but the ref is putting a chair back on the floor after Shane brought it in. They have a roll up reversal sequence and Shane pulls the tights on one of them to get the win.
**1/2

In the back, Team Me and Gilberti are interviewed. David Young comes over and asks where they were last week and Glenn says he's almost good enough to be in their group, and they still want to see a little something more.

Match #3: 3 Live Kru vs. Team Me/Glenn Gilberti [Elimination Match]
This is a horrible idea. This is not really any good at all until the finishing segment. Konnan is beat after the Problem Solver, and then Johnny is out after a Bossman Slam from BG James. Diamond then beats BG with the Superkick after that. Killings finally gets in to carry it, and Killings hits a sit-out Gourdbuster to eliminate Diamond. David Young comes out and Gilberti/Truth is solid enough. David hits Killings with a chair, and Glenn covers to win.
*1/2

In the back, Scott Hudson interviews The New Church. Mitchell says they will keep him insulated against Raven's vendetta, and says Sinn will destroy Raven tonight. He has Slash throw darts into Sinn's back to show off his pain tolerance.

Match #4: Christopher Daniels w/ The Minions vs. Frankie Kazarian
Daniels now has random underlings dressed as altar boys that Tenay names The Minions. They sort of just have a match, and one of the minions trips up Kaz, and Daniels hits the Angel's Wings to win.
**1/4

In the back, Raven says pain tolerance doesn't matter if you're unconscious.

Match #5: America's Most Wanted vs. Kid Kash/Abyss [Special Referee: Terry Taylor]
Not as good as last week, due to referee shenanigans. Both teams again looked good though. Harris had a nice hot tag and then it broke down. Kash throws Taylor out to the floor and brings in a chair, but Storm Superkicks the chair into his face, and Taylor gets back in to count the three.
**1/2

Kash blames Abyss and yells at him and shoves him. Abyss raises his hand to hit him, but he refrains, so Kash slaps him. Abyss then finally attacks Kash for being a piece of shit, and Kash bails out.

A horrible pretape from Shane Douglas airs with him saying he's done everything and he's perfected the shoot promo, which is somehow his biggest career accomplishment that he lists, and says he's going to mold someone into the new Franchise.

Match #6: Raven vs. Sinn w/ The New Church
Raven mostly dominates, and it really strikes how much this feud is a waste of Raven. He busts open Sinn, and Sinn has a little bit of offense and then Raven wins with the Evenflow.
*3/4

Slash also attacks Raven, but he hits him with a chain that he brought with. He then goes after Mitchell, but Vampiro runs out, and attacks Raven. He hangs Raven over the top with the chain again, but The Gathering then runs out to save, and they help Raven down.

In the back, AJ is getting ready for the title match with Siaki, Trinity, and Ekmo. Russo shows up, doing a horrible job of acting drunk, and says he was out with a friend and says he loves AJ and he's got this tonight, and he storms off. AJ looks disgusted and tells everybody that he's got this.

Match #7: AJ Styles [c] w/ Vince Russo vs. Dusty Rhodes [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
Dusty is wearing a t-shirt over his trunks, and it looks really awkward. Good AJ performance once again. Dusty looks great selling and doing his stuff, but it's 2003, and AJ is doing most of the work here. Trinity comes out to try and control Russo. Dusty bleeds and shit and yeah. Dusty used Russo's bat on AJ and had the Figure Four on. AJ's leg selling was awesome, but he managed to hit Dusty with the bat, and he was KO'd. He put on the Figure Four in revenge and Dusty was KO'd, so the ref counted his shoulders down.
**3/4

Russo gets on the mic and yells at AJ to keep it up. He hesitated, and sort of halfway stomped on Dusty and security (black shirt), came out. Russo took off his belt and whipped Dusty and Siaki and Ekmo also came out to do the same. AMW runs out to save, but AJ takes them out with a dive! Russo yells at Siaki to take off Dusty's pants now, and what in the fuck? Jeff Jarrett ran out with a chair to save and the heels bailed. Russo said he's tried so hard to get Jarrett on his side, but he won't listen, and it's over in two weeks. Dusty slowly gets up, and wants a six man next week of he and AMW vs. Russo, Siaki, and Ekmo.

The 10/15 episode is missing, along with several 2004 episodes, so here's a recap of what happened:

-They kept showing the footage of Jarrett attacking Hogan in Japan
-AMW/Dusty def. Legend/Siaki/Ekmo
-Russo was apparently on "other business" in the building
-Shane [c] def. Daniels to retain the X Title
-Jarrett did an interview saying he's going to remove anybody in the way of him being NWA Champion again, and that included Hogan (canceling the planned Bound for Glory PPV and Hogan coming in). Russo tried to attack with Siaki and Ekmo, and Jarrett beat the shit out of Russo with a chair before AJ could run and save.
-Sonjay Dutt/Eric Young def. El Fuego/Jerrelle Clark (FUCK, I MISSED JERRELLE CLARK :( )
-Danny Doring/Roadkill def. Team Me in a non-title match
-Abyss def. Kid Kash
-Slash/Vampiro def. The Gathering
-Jimmy Hart called in and said this wasn't over with he and Jarrett

Match #1: 3 Live Kru vs. Joe Legend/Sonny Siaki/Ekmo w/ Trinity

There's only so much a young Umaga and Truth can do here. Konnan was especially awful, with none of his strikes connecting at all. The heels keep miscommunicating. Siaki accidentally hits Ekmo with a Missile Dropkick and Konnan gets the cover for the win.
3/4*

In the back, Hudson interviews Jeff Jarrett. He says he took out Russo so that it'll just be he and AJ one on one tonight, and Dusty comes over. He says he has his back tonight, and Jarrett says he doesn't want anyone involved, and as far as he's concerned, Dusty showed his true colors a few weeks back, and he's looking out for Jeff Jarrett right not. Dusty says a few weeks ago, Jarrett implied that he was a self serving son of a bitch, and says it takes one to know one.

Match #2: Kid Kash vs. Sonjay Dutt
This is a match that happens for like 4 minutes. Dutt's selling is horrible, but he does some alright highspots. He didn't do them though, as Kash dominates this. Kash wins with the Moneymaker.
*3/4

Kash keeps it up but Abyss runs out to save, sort of. Kash bails and then Dutt eats the Black Hole Slam.

In the back, Hudson is with Horrible Heel Trio, and Siaki says they've had AJ's back from the beginning, and now he won't even let them into his locker room.

Match #3: Team Me [c] w/ Glenn Gilberti vs. Danny Doring/Roadkill [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This is horrible. They do stuff, nothing looks good or is exciting, and the champions hit Amish with the PRoblem Solver to win, which they can barely do correctly.
*

In a pretape, Shane Douglas says the new Franchise will appear next week.

Match #4: Michael Shane [c] vs. Chris Sabin vs. Christopher Daniels [NWA X Division Championship]
Sabin vs. Daniels was fun, but this was way too long and with a remarkably shitty Asylum crowd. The tag match probably just murdered the crowd. Sabin had it won, but Shane pulled the ref out. He then Superkicked Sabin for the win.
**1/4

In the back, Hudson is with James Mitchell and Slash. He says he believes that Hell has 9 layers, and he believes the lowest layer is for those who betray their friends, and says Raven has done horrible things to him, and he holds the key to Raven's soul.

Mike Tenay is in the ring, and he brings out Jimmy Hart. HE'S GOT THE RED WHITE AND BLUE RUNNING THROUGH HIS VEINS! He sucks Hogan's dick on the mic a bit and promotes Hogan coming into TNA. He says Jarrett is jealous, and Jeff Jarrett comes out. He tells Jimmy to go to Tampa and tell Hogan something for him, and then he attacks him. He takes off his belt and starts whipping Jimmy Hart with it, and AJ Styles runs out to save! He drives Jarrett away, and AJ Styles making the save and as a result, standing up for Hogan's presence in TNA is really hilarious in retrospect.

In the back, Gilberti gives a pep talk to the mystery team fighting AMW tonight, THE NATURALS!

Match #5: Raven vs. Slash w/ Father James Mitchell [Dog Collar Match]
Another bloody Raven squash. Evenflow ends it.
**

He tries to hang Slash in revenge, but Mitchell gets in to distract him. Vampiro then runs out and sprays green mist in Raven's eyes! They try to hang him, but The Gathering runs out to save, and Vampiro and Mitchell leave. Raven is helped up, and he yells at Punk and Julio and says he doesn't need their help.

In the back, Hudson interviews Don Callis. He says Bound For Glory has been rescheduled and says if anyone wants to see D'Lo again, they can order the new D'Lo Brown bobblehead from TNA or at the merch table. He says Scott Hudson might be next, and maybe Goldilocks can have her job back.

Match #6: America's Most Wanted vs. The Naturals w/ Glenn Gilberti & David Young
These teams will probably have way better matches than this, but this was not great. The Naturals are sort of like an alternate universe AMW. They bump well and they have good looking basic offense, except that they lack the fire and crowd connection that makes AMW work. As it is, it's a fine AMW showcase, and yeah. Gilberti's interference is cut off by Erik Watts coming out and then Harris hits Stevens with a Crossbody off the top to win.
**1/2

As Don and Tenay hype up the main event, Raven comes back out with a dog collar and says next week, he has a match with Vampiro and names it the BLOOD GALLOWS OF RETRIBUTION MATCH. Basically, each corner has a chain and a dog collar attached to it, and the first man to hang the other over the top rope will win.

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ Styles and asks about Russo. AJ says Russo made a stupid decision last week and he did that to himself when he tried to warn him. AJ says he can beat Jeff Jarrett and he'll do it tonight. Siaki and Ekmo come over and they ask what's up with him lately, and they say they've got his back. AJ says to stay back here, because he's got this.

Match #7: AJ Styles [c] vs. Jeff Jarrett [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
This was great, once again. Better than their February match, as they actually stuck to the story they built. In their February match, the story was that AJ was probably better than Jarrett, but got distracted and thrown off. Here, there's no real distractions, and he constantly outdoes Jeff, who has a rough time holding onto any advantage. He can't put away AJ, and they don't waste their finishers here. Siaki comes out, and Watts and Dusty come out. Dusty fights Siaki away, and as that happens, Jeff gets desperate and uses a chair, but looks like he regrets it a little. AJ kicks out though, so Jeff says "fuck it" basically, and hits AJ with the title belt to win the title. :(
***

Upsetting to see AJ's title run come to an end, but the story makes sense, and a final match should rule. 2004 probably sees AJ definitively beating Jarrett and Jarrett passing the torch to AJ as company Ace and carrying TNA to the top! :(

In the parking lot, Jimmy Hart arrives and says he has a mystery man to fight Jarrett tonight.

Match #1: America's Most Wanted vs. Glenn Gilberti/David Young
Seems like it would be a good AMW showcase, but it goes on way way way way way too long before AMW won.
*3/4

Harris gets on the mic post-match, and asks why it's been over two months now and they haven't gotten their tag title rematch.

In the back, Hudson interviews Michael Shane. He says he got some great advice earlier today from somebody he respects saying never to defend the belt against people who he won't gain anything from beating, so he's not putting up this belt tonight.

Match #2: Michael Shane vs. Sonjay Dutt
Dutt again fails to really do anything impressive and Shane is a blank slate. Dutt misses the Hindu Press, and Shane gets a roll up with the tights for the win.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson asks Dusty who he thinks Jimmy Hart has to face Jarrett, and he has no idea.

Match #3: Erik Watts/Don Harris w/ Chris Vaugn vs. Red Shirt Security w/ Don Callis
OH MY GOD AWFUL. SO BAD. SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO BAD. JESUS CHRIST, THIS WAS BAD. The faces won.
ANDY'S AWA X10000000000000000000000000000000000000

The heels then hit Watts with a Spike Piledriver, and he is stretchered out.

Clips air of the Jarrett/Hart stuff.

Mike Tenay is in the ring and he brings Jeff Jarrett out for an interview. He says in the last month, he's taken out Hulk Hogan, Vince Russo, Jimmy Hart, and AJ Styles and you should call him the new Mr. October. He calls out Jimmy Hart to reveal his mystery man, but AJ Styles comes out instead! He says he needs to worry less about Jimmy Hart and more about AJ Styles, and he deserves a rematch for that title. Jarrett says AJ is at the bottom of the barrel and tells him to go back to the X Division, since they're having a tournament now or whatever (wtf), and AJ goes after him, but Red Shirt Security comes out to drag AJ to the back and out of the building. Dusty Rhodes comes out to the ring, but Jarrett knocks off Dusty's hat and says he's not worthy, and leaves the ring.

Match #4: Sonny Siaki/Ekmo w/ Trinity vs. Danny Doring/Roadkill
Oh my god, what an awful show so far. Ekmo is hardly in this, so it's pretty terrible all around. Ekmo finally tags in, but then he quickly beats Doring with the Flying Splash.
3/4*

A video airs on the Abyss/Kash feud.

Match #5: Abyss vs. Kid Kash [FIRST BLOOD CHAIR ON A POLE MATCH]
RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! RUSSO! The chair isn't even a part of their feud, what the fuck? They have a decent enough match, and Abyss and Kash knock foreheads at a point, somehow. Abyss randomly starts bleeding after this, and despite him still destroying Kash, the ref calls for the bell.
**

In response, Abyss Chokeslams the ref, and also lays out Kash with the Black Hole Slam. Security comes out, and Abyss lays them out too.

A video airs with Shane Douglas talking to someone off camera, and he says they could be the new Franchise very soon. You promised the new Franchise this week, and the end of these awful videos. Fuck you, you lying piece of shit.

Match #6: Raven vs. Vampiro w/ Father James Mitchell [BLOOD GALLOWS OF RETRIBUTION/HANGMAN'S HORROR MATCH]
This sure happens. Vampiro is awful and they throw out a lot of smoke and mirrors to make this halfway decent. They do some neat stuff with the chain and Raven hangs Vampiro over the top to win.
**1/4

Mitchell gets in and tries to set up a fireball, but The Gathering comes out and they pull Raven out of the way! Mitchell bails, and Raven is pissed. He shoves them away and says he can handle this, and he says he wants Mitchell next week in a Last Man Standing match!

Tenay and West finally explain the X Tournament and it is the X DIVISION TRIPLE CHANCE:
-Battle royal next week to determine the top 5 seeds
-Winner goes to the finals
-The other four last wrestlers go in a tournament on 11/12
-#2 seed vs. #5
-#3 vs. #4
-On 11/19, it's the winner of the battle royal vs. the winners of those two matches in a #1 Contender's Match
-God fucking damnit, TNA

Jeff Jarrett comes out, with two guitars, and wants to see who the mystery man is. Jimmy Hart comes out and introduces his man, HULK HOGAN......'S CLOSE FRIEND, JIM DUGGAN! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Match #7: Jeff Jarrett vs. Jim Duggan
This is short and horrible. Don Callis comes out and distracts Duggan and Jarrett uses a guitar for the win.
*

Red Shirt Security comes out and they drag Duggan out and throw him out of the building. Jarrett gets back on the mic and says he knows Hart has Hogan back there and he's ready, but Jimmy Hart then brings out his next surprise, AND OH GOD, IT'S RICK STEINER.

Match #8: Jeff Jarrett vs. Rick Steiner
Another short and horrible horrible match. Jarrett uses the second guitar, this time in front of the referee, for a DQ.
*1/4

Jarrett calls Hart back to the ring, and he comes out and says Jarrett got lucky tonight, and next week, HE WILL BE FACING STING! YEAH!

In the parking lot, Jimmy Hart says that Jarrett's biggest nightmare might be right underneath the tip of his nose.

Match #1: CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Kid Kash/Lazz
Lazz is horrible once again. Kash is generally alright, and Punk and Julio are good. They do some stuff and The Gathering wins with a Doomsday Blockbuster.
**

Kid Kash attacks Lazz post-match, and Abyss runs out to attack Kash again, but Kid Kash bails out through the crowd.

TONIGHT: Raven vs. Mitchell in a LMS match, the X battle royal with 8 men

Recap of the recent Jeff Jarrett stuff.

Mike Tenay brings out Jeff Jarrett for an interview, and he has Japanese and German magazines with he and Hogan on the cover. Tenay asks when he'll give AJ Styles a title rematch and then asks about Sting, and Jarrett says he has no right to question him. AJ Styles comes back out and says with all due respect to the legends, Jarrett needs to be more worried about the guy he can't beat and that he's ducking. Jarrett cuts him off and says he knows he wants a title shot, but he just beat him and he's not even among the top contenders in the NWA, and says he should enter the X Division battle royal tonight. AJ says he put the X Division on the map, but right now, he's not only just the best wrestler in the X Division, but he's the best wrestler in TNA period, and he wants his belt back! They begin to fight and shove at each other, and Don Callis and Red Shirt Security comes out to break it up. They drag AJ away, and as he is occupied, Jarrett blindsides AJ with a chair shot, and they drag a momentarily hurt AJ to the back.

In the back, as they throw AJ out of the building, Abyss comes and attacks Red Shirt Security! He grabs Callis by the throat too when he tries to reprimand him, but RSS stops him. Abyss throws them around again, and Callis bails out for his safety.

In the back, Hudson interviews Father James Mitchell. He says he knows Raven, and Raven's style is to prey on the weak, be it those he allies himself with or those he goes after. He says the strong may dominate the weak, but the clever dominate the strong!

Match #2: The Sandman vs. Shane Douglas
FUCK YEAH SANDMAN'S BACK! Unfortunately, they tried to work a normal pro wrestling match. Shane does one of the worst Planchas that I have seen recently. Sandman's selling for his control seg is awesome, but Shane does nothing impressive. Sandman makes a fun comeback, and oh my god, awful, as Tracy Brooks runs out and low blows Sandman. He kicks out of one Belly to Belly, but Shane hits a second one to win.
**1/4

Shane gets on the mic and welcomes Tracy as part of the New Franchise. She says there's nothing she won't do for him. Ewwwww

Match #3: America's Most Wanted vs. Sonny Siaki/Ekmo w/ Trinity
AMW try, but there's way too much Siaki here. TNA is layout Siaki/Ekmo matches as if the smaller guy is carrying the work, but Siaki is awful and Ekmo rules. Anyways, Trinity distracts the ref and David Young runs out to low blow Harris. Siaki then hits the Siakalypse for the win.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson is with Team Me and Gilberti. They say they only defend against top tag teams, and AMW lost, so they go back to the bottom. David Young comes in and says that's only part one, because he and Gilberti are going to take out 3LK later on.

Match #4: X Division Battle Royal
The people involved are Chris Sabin, Shark Boy, Low Ki, Chad Collyer, Jonny Storm, Sonjay Dutt, Christopher Daniels, and X! X IS FUCKING PIERRE CARL OULLETTE! Ki, Sabin, Daniels, and PCO are all capable, and Dutt is the only one here who's outright bad, so this is fun. It comes down to Sabin, Ki, X, Daniels, and Collyer, who will now all be in the tournament. X is TNA's first voyage into the "not about weight limits" part of the X Division, before they perfected that with Samoa Joe. Fuck, Joe vs. PCO would rule. Ki and Daniels have awesome fights and they both toss out Collyer, and Sabin pushes them both out! As that happens, X brings in a chair, and he hits Sabin with an amazingly brutal Liger Bomb on the chair, and he tosses Sabin out to win.
**3/4

X goes to the triple threat match on 11/19. Next week, it will be Ki/Daniels and Sabin/Collyer in the tournament.

A video message aired from Roddy Piper saying he's not done yet, and says if Hogan does win the NWA Title from Jarrett, then you sure as hell hadn't seen the last of Roddy Piper. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Cannot wait until Hogan officially backs out of the TNA deal, so all these Hogan latch-ons leave too.

Match #5: 3 Live Kru vs. David Young/Glenn Gilberti
So, I get the idea behind this match. What I don't get is why it is randomly a handicap match. Once again, Killings is the one saving grace of his team, and Young is decent enough again. This is about 3 minutes of nothing, with Killings in for like 30 seconds to start. He gets back in at the very end and hits Young with the Scissors Kick to win.
3/4*

Team Me comes out to attack, but AMW then runs out to save, and they run off the heels. Siaki comes on the stage and says they deserve a title shot, since they beat AMW. Gilberti says he doesn't think well under pressure, and he leaves with the champions, and AMW and 3LK argue about who gets a title shot.

Hype video for Raven/Mitchell.

Match #6: Raven vs. Father James Mitchell [Last Man Standing]
Basically a big bloody Raven squash, as it should have been, and it was fun. Raven uses a chain and Mitchell bleeds a fucking ton, so a lot of credit to him for that. Punk and Dinero came out to watch, and Raven motions to them to get out, and says this is his. He then ends it with the Evenflow and Mitchell cannot answer the 10.
*3/4

Post-match, Raven calls The Gathering in, and he gets on the mic. He says with this distraction finally out of the way, he has one thing to say. HE HAS NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT HIS DESTINY, AND THAT IS TO BECOME THE NWA CHAMPION! FUCK YEAH! Fuck, Raven chasing Jeff Jarrett as a heel and coming through on his destiny could be amazing. He then turns to Punk and Julio and thanks them for all their help, but says this is something he has to do alone. He says they're free to go on with their own careers, and they say they can help him. Raven says he's always walked the road alone, and Punk says that's not true, and Raven walks out on them.

Match #7: Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett
This is a ton of fun. It's mostly Sting offense for some 7-8 minutes, but Jarrett sells well and Sting looks pretty great for a guy who's had one match in the last nearly 3 years. They have a really great brawl in the opening stages before it cools down in the ring. Don Callis and Red Shirt Security get involved, and Jarrett hits Sting with a chair for the DQ.
***

Sting rolls out and Jeff gets the belt. He says nobody can take it from him, AND RAVEN COMES OUT! FUCK YEAH! RAVEN VS. JARRETT, BUT RSS ATTACKS RAVEN! BOOOOOOO! BUT FUCK YEAH AGAIN, BECAUSE AJ STYLES RUNS OUT TO SAVE! AJ dives onto the Red Shirts, and punches at Jarrett. RSS and Callis gets back inside, BUT ABYSS RUNS OUT AND EVERYONE BAILS! BUT ABYSS TURNS, LITERALLY, AND CHOKESLAMS AJ! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Sting rolls back in, and Jarrett picks up the guitar, and swings, BUT STING BREAKS THE GUITAR WITH THE BAT! STING FIGHTS OFF EVERYONE WITH THE BAT! Callis gets on the mic and says Raven will never be champion and the Red Shirts will take care of him next week. Sting helps AJ back up, and asks him to be his partner next week against JArrett and someone else. Jarrett says he accepts, and his partner will be LEX LUGER!

That closing seg was two amazing segments (Raven vs. Jarrett renewed with AJ saving leading to the Abyss swerve / Sting cleaning house) mashed into one segment that kind of came off as a mess. :(

November 12th, 2003

TONIGHT: AJ/Sting vs. Jarrett/Luger, Ki vs. Daniels, Sabin vs. Collyer, RSS vs. Raven/?

R.I.P. CRASH HOLLY

Match #1: 10 Man Gauntlet Match
TNA Gauntlet rules, obviously. This is the members of tag teams, and the winner's team gets a title shot. You have AMW, Siaki/Ekmo, The Gathering, Killings/James, and Gilberti/Young. It ends up with Storm vs. Killings as the final two and they have a nice little match. Gilberti ruins it with a chair shot to Storm, and Killings wins, so 3LK gets the shot.
**

In the back, Scott Hudson is with Don Callis, Red Shirt Security, and Abyss. Callis says Abyss has sworn loyalty to him, and says a lot of people have something coming their way from Abyss.

Mike Tenay brings out Jeff Jarrett for an interview, but he kicks Tenay out and says he wants Don West to do it. Don gets in and Jarrett asks where Hogan is and when he'll show his face. West obviously knows nothing and Jarrett says Hogan will never get the NWA Title. Blah blah blah Hogan, suck dick, TNA, etc. Raven finally comes out to end it and he has CRASH written on his chest in tribute. He said he came here to fulfill his destiny, and he got rid of the Church and tonight he'll get rid of the Red Shirts, and he cannot dodge him forever. Jarrett says Raven isn't on his level, just like AJ and everyone else, and Raven needs to worry about a partner tonight. He says he doesn't need anyone to take his title, and Raven comes to the ring. Red Shirt Security runs out behind him and Raven fights all three with a chair, until Jarrett is able to hit him with The Stroke onto a chair, busting him open, and he quickly leaves.

Clips of the X Division battle royal from last week. Tenay says Sabin is injured, so Dutt will take his place vs. Collyer. Oh my god, not even Expo would book a TNA undercard match so unappealing.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels vs. Low Ki [X Tournament Semi-Finals]
Heeeeeey, this is fucking great. Awesome partner vs. partner deal with a lot of them knowing each other's shit and them having to use newer stuff. Daniels works the ribs and Ki's selling is great, which has really been missed in X Division matches. Daniels keeps going to the ribs to avoid Ki's big offense at the end, and then breaks out a fancy leverage pin for the win.
***

They shake hands post-match, and Ki leaves. X THEN COMES OUT AND HITS DANIELS WITH THE PACKAGE PILEDRIVER! YEAH!

In the back, Raven is being checked on. Hudson tries an interview, but The Gathering stops him. Punk says they didn't help tonight because they were following orders, but Raven needs a partner tonight, and they know he'll do the right thing and pick one of them.

Match #3: Sonjay Dutt vs. Chad Collyer [X Tournament Semi-Finals]
OH my god, this was bad. Such a horrible styles clash, and Dutt gets a roll up to win.
*1/2

X then comes out and hits a great Lariat to Dutt on the stage.

In the back, Hudson tries to interview Luger, but Jarrett cuts him off before Luger comes out of the locker room and Jarrett says Luger will prove that AJ Styles can't hang with the heavyweights or with the World Heavyweight Champion.

Match #4: Abyss w/ Don Callis vs. Don Harris w/ Chris Vaugn
This was not good at all. They did a lot of stuff, and Abyss wins with the Black Hole Slam.
*

AJ Styles comes out post-match, and he fights with Abyss. Abyss tosses him out, but AJ lands on his feet, and runs back into the ring, and he clotheslines Abyss over the top to the floor! Harris throws AJ a chair and slides in too, and Abyss and Don Callis leave.

In the back, Hudson interviews 3LK. They say a lot of nonsense, but have a title shot next week apparently. AMW comes over and says if they win next week, they want the first title shot, and if they don't, they better get out of the way.

It is time for the Raven vs. RSS match, and instead of Punk or Julio, RAVEN'S PARTNER IS THE SANDMAN! FUCK YEAH!

Match #5: Raven/The Sandman vs. Red Shirt Security w/ Don Callis
RSS really are not good at all, but Raven and Sandman are fun enough to at least put this over *. Raven is a good face in peril, and Sandman has another awesome hot tag. Then fucking Joe Legend comes out and hits Sandman with his own cane and Northcutt covers to win.
*1/2

It is a 3 on 2, but The Gathering runs out to save, as does Erik Watts. He books a Clockwork Orange match next week with himself, Raven, & Sandman vs. Red Shirts & Joe Legend. GROSS

Hype video for the main event.

NEXT WEEK: AJ vs. Abyss! 3LK vs. Team Me for the belts! X vs. Dutt vs. Daniels!

Match #6: AJ Styles/Sting w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jeff Jarrett/Lex Luger w/ Don Callis
Luger sucks and was painfully slow and not in ring shape, but everyone else is great. AJ and Sting have a lot of fire and are crisp, Jeff bumps big, etc. Sting and Jeff brawl on the floor and Sting takes him out. Luger gets AJ up in the Torture Rack, but Sting hits Luger in the gut with the bat, and AJ gets down into a sunset flip to pin Luger! AJ pinning Luger is a big deal and the right way to go (even if it is just Luger in 2003), but the bat stuff sort of takes away from it.

In the parking lot, Don Callis, Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, and Red Shirt Security arrive together. Scott Hudson interviews them, and Jarrett says he wants AJ Styles and Raven out of the picture for good and begs Hogan to show up to TNA finally, because he's ready to focus on him.

TONIGHT: AJ vs. Abyss, X vs. Daniels vs. Dutt in a #1 Contender's Match, Team Me vs. 3LK for the belts

Match #1: Raven/The Sandman/Erik Watts vs. Joe Legend/Red Shirt Security [Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match]
Legend is in a red shirt too now. They have an inventive way here of making most of the bad workers stay out of it. Of course, that is impossible to completely do, since Raven and Sandman are the only good wrestlers here, but still. They handcuff Watts to the post on the floor, and then later on, Raven handcuffs Ryan Wilson of RSS to Watts. Then some other stuff happened, and Goldilocks then comes out to unlock Watts' handcuffs, since she for some reason had the key? Raven then hits Northcutt with the Evenflow for the win.
*3/4

Don West shills some TNA merch.

A sitdown interview airs with Tenay and AJ Styles. He says he's heard all his life that he can't compete at the next level, and he's always proved doubters wrong. He says he beat Jeff Jarrett for his own title, and he has the balls to say he can't compete? He says Abyss is the biggest physical challenge of his career and says this is about Jarrett trying to stop him before his title shot in two weeks (way to announce that, TNA), but he'll survive like always.

Match #2: Kid Kash vs. Shark Boy
This absolutely happened. Kind of dull and meandering before Kash wins with the Moneymaker.
*1/2

Kash tries to unmask him, but Don Harris runs out to save. What the fuck?

Match #3: CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Sonny Siaki/Ekmo Fatu w/ Trinity
This was better than the previous two matches, at least. Punk and Julio look good, and bump well for Ekmo, who also looks good. Siaki is really the only flaw here. The Gathering is pretty clearly the worst tag team CM Punk has been in, between the Saints, Punk/Kofi, and SES. Even the occasional Punk/Dreamer team in 2007 had better chemistry. Trinity refuses to slide Siaki a chair, and as they argue, Punk gets a roll up for the win.
**

In the back, Don Callis was upset with Kevin Northcutt, but he says he wants Raven in a singles match next week.

Match #4: Chris Sabin vs. David Young
Sabin immediately gets a roll up to win. Young then challenges him to a rematch, and he accepts, and it is a real match. I hate that gimmick. After that, they had a nice 3-4 minute spotfest, before Sabin got the win with the Cradle Shock.
**1/4

A video aired on the Team Me/3LK/AMW tag title scene.

Mike Tenay brings out Jimmy Hart and, you know what? Hogan doesn't come in until 2010. I plan on stopping at the end of 2009, using this for a ridiculous Best of the 2000s Non-WWE countdown deal. I have no reason to continue to recap the stuff around Hogan's return. It doesn't happen. Fuck this.

Match #5: Team Me [c] w/ Glenn Gilberti vs. Ron Killings/BG James [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
AMW comes to watch. This really isn't any good, especially when Killings is not in the match. Killings ends up getting the hot tag and that is easily the best part of this match. He gets Diamond with a Back Suplex, but both men have their shoulders down, so it goes to a draw.
*1/4

Another referee comes out and takes the tag belts to the back. I guess they're vacant?

Hype video for the three way.

Match #6: Christopher Daniels vs. X vs. Sonjay Dutt [X Division #1 Contender's Match]
Michael Shane came out onto the stage to watch. They had a nice dynamic of trickery vs. power vs. speed going on. They pretty clearly held back though, and the crowd kinda blew tonight, which also dragged it down. PCO is clearly past his prime, but can still do good stuff. Dutt gets him with a West Coast Pop and PCO does a really clumsy bump for it and oh my god, awful, Dutt wins.
**1/2

Dutt then goes and faces off with Shane on the stage. Zoom in on the bacne. Gross.

In the back, Raven says he figures Jeff's game is to keep throwing roadblocks in his way, but he's played this game with him before, so he challenges both Northcutt and Legend to a handicap match next week, so he can dispose of them quicker.

Match #7: AJ Styles vs. Abyss w/ Don Callis
Really fantastic carryjob by AJ. AJ works so well with Abyss that for a number of years, he has people convinced that Abyss is an actual good wrestler. Obviously, this has a lot of power vs. speed psychology. AJ is super crisp and takes at least 4 retardedly huge bumps. They got a little ridiculous and contrived with stuff at the end, but hey, still an impressive carryjob. AJ gets a Victory Roll out of a Chokeslam for the win.
***

Jeff Jarrett and the Red Shirts come out for a 4 on 1, and AJ is hit with the Black Hole Slam and then The Stroke. Raven comes down, but is also gotten with a 4 on 1. BUT OH HEY, DUSTY CAN SAVE AND FIGHT EVERYONE OFF, BECAUSE FUCKING TNA. He says next week it's him vs. Jarrett in a FANS REVENGE STRAP MATCH!

TONIGHT: Jarrett vs. AJ for the title

In the parking lot, Jeff Jarrett arrives. Hudson interviews him, and he says everyone in TNA is going to have to decide whether they're with him or against him.

Match #1: Low Ki vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Kid Kash [X Division #1 Contender's Match]
Unfortunately, Kid Kash does not magically morph into Bryan Danielson. That being said, he generally just sat back and let Low Ki and Daniels be Low Ki and Daniels, so this was good shit. Don West then asks what that oriental movie was with all the crazy kicks. Amazing. Ki gets out of the Angel's Wings and hits the Ki Krusher for the win.
***

Kash then hit Ki with the Moneymaker and said he fears no man. Don Harris came out and Kash fled.

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ Styles. He says Jarrett said he can't hang on his level, but he's beaten Jarrett and he's beaten Luger and Abyss, and not only can he hang on his level, but Jarrett's the one who can't hang with him. He says tonight, the title goes back where it belongs, in the House of Styles.

3LK comes out to cut a horrible promo on being champions, and then AMW comes out. They congratulate them and ask for a title shot, but Jeff Jarrett comes out with Don Callis. He says they're both good, but the issue tonight is where their loyalty lies and if they're with him or against him. He says everyone has to declare what side they're on, because he has big news. He put over 3LK big time, and then Gilberti and David Young came out. Gilberti says they and Team Me are behind Jarrett 100%. Simon Diamond then came out and told him not to speak for him and he blames them for the tag title loss. Erik Watts then comes out and books AMW vs. Team Me vs. Gilberti/Young later on for a future title shot.

In the back, Tracy and Goldilocks argue over who actually runs the show, between Watts and Callis.

A recap airs of all the X Title stuff.

Match #2: Chris Sabin/Sonjay Dutt vs. Michael Shane/Shane Douglas w/ Tracy Brooks
This is 75% horrible, and Sabin can only do so much. Dutt actually broke out some of his highspots that always get talked about. Somewhat sloppy, but it's at least something interesting to warrant his spot. Sabin rules again. Shane again proves that he belongs on the floor and not in the ring. Shane gets the Superkick on Dutt to win.
**

In the back, Hudson talks to Team Me and Gilberti/Young. Diamond says they were fine until David Young came along, but Gilberti says that Erik Watts has basically booked a 4 on 2 match with them against AMW.

Match #3: X vs. Don Harris w/ Chris Vaugn
This was a generally alright slugfest for 2 minutes. Kid Kash comes out for a distraction, and X uses a chain for the win.
*3/4

Kid Kash then comes and attacks Vaugn, but Don Harris runs him off. Why is this a thing?

In the back, Daniels is beating down Low Ki and wishes him luck in his title shot next week, if he can make it.

Match #4: America's Most Wanted vs. Team Me vs. Glenn Gilberti/David Young [#1 Contender's Match]
This absolutely happened. Storm hits Diamond with a Superkick to win.
*

In the back, Scott Hudson is with Raven and The Gathering. Raven says he let them go, but for one night only, he will reform the group. Punk says they won't let him down.

Match #5: Raven/CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Abyss/Red Shirt Security w/ Don Callis
It appears Legend has replaced the other RSS guy as Northcutt's partner. This is solid enough for 4-5 minutes considering who is involved. Punk is a good face in peril, and then Raven gets in to clean house. He hits the Evenflow on Abyss, but Callis pulls the ref out. He gets in with a chair, but Raven takes it. He turns around though, and Abyss tackles the chair back into his midsection and pins him to win.
**

Abyss hits Raven with the Black Hole Slam, and Callis goes to handcuff him somewhere, but Punk and Julio get back in with chairs, and they run them off.

Hey, Piper is coming back next week.

NEXT WEEK: KID KASH VS. DON HARRIS OH MY GOD

Hype video for the main event.

Match #6: Jeff Jarrett [c] w/ Don Callis vs. AJ Styles w/ Erik Watts [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
They deliver against each other, once again. AJ now has awesome baby blue gear. After two matches and now a third with an opening establishing that AJ is Jarrett's equal at actual wrestling, Jarrett finally steps it up a bit and turns it into a brawl, which AJ is not experienced with, to take over. Good control seg, hot AJ comeback, and then as usual, it falls apart in the finishing run due to waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much overbooking. Callis, Watts, Red Shirts, The Gathering, Abyss, AMW, all get involved, ref bump, and then of all people, fucking Kid Kash comes out to distract AJ. AJ takes him out with a Styles Clash and Jeff breaks a guitar on AJ to win.

In the back, Jarrett and Callis talk to their people. They go on and on about stuff. They want AJ and Raven gone, and 3LK might join them. Jarrett says he's got a lawyer doing a background check on Erik Watts and one way or another, he'll be out of power soon.

In the back, Watts has gathered AJ, Sabin, AMW, Punk, and Julio. He denies any rumors that they may have heard and said he has surprises tonight. AJ says he's glad he called a meeting for that, and walks off saying this is a waste of time and he just wants Jarrett.

Match #1: Kid Kash vs. Don Harris
This is all of 2 minutes, and it is not given a chance to be either good or bad. Red Shirt Security comes out to distract the ref, and Jeff Jarrett runs out to break a guitar on Harris' head, and Kash covers to win.
1/2*

Kash leaves, and Jarrett gets on the mic. He says you're either with him or against him, and those with him will be rewarded, just like Kid Kash, and if you're against him, you'll end up like Don Harris or AJ Styles. He says Piper won't have the guts to show up tonight, but AJ Styles comes out with a chair. He takes out the Red Shirts with chair shots and goes for Jarrett, but Jarrett bails out to the floor. Roddy Piper then comes out, and he shakes AJ's hand. He puts him over and says the NWA is the place for talent like this and says wrestling made Jeff Jarrett, not the other way around. He goes on and on for a while and Jarrett tells Piper to shut up. He says Piper hasn't changed since WrestleMania I, and says he has back up and they don't. Kid Kash and the Red Shirts then came back out, and they surrounded AJ and Piper in the ring. BUT FUCK YEAH, D'LO BROWN RETURNS WITH A CHAIR TO SAVE! AWESOME! Erik Watts then comes out and books AJ/D'Lo vs. Jarrett/a partner of his choice in the main event, and asks Piper to enforce the rules at ringside.

Recap of Daniels injuring Ki, and Tenay says that since Ki was injured in the attack and cannot be here, the title shot has been given to Daniels.

Match #2: Michael Shane [c] w/ Tracy vs. Christopher Daniels [NWA X Division Championship]
The crowd didn't give a shit early on, since it was heel vs. heel. Daniels then got busted open, and then it got a little more interesting. Tracy tried to use a chain to help, but Sabin ran out and took the chain from Shane, and hit him with it for the DQ.
**1/2

Shane is pulled out by Tracy and they bail with the X Title. Daniels gets up and he and Sabin fight, and they get pulled apart.

In the back, 3LK are interviewed, but Gilberti and Young come over. Glenn says they can help them keep the belts tonight if they side with Jarrett and Callis, but then Team Me comes over and they tell Gilberti not to speak for them anymore in regards to loyalty. 3LK leaves after gay jokes. Gilberti asks why they weren't at the meeting and Diamond says nobody ever told them about it, so Gilberti slaps David Young in the back of the head.

Match #3: Ron Killings/BG James [c] w/ Konnan vs. America's Most Wanted [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
Best 3LK match yet, obviously. BG still isn't trying, seemingly, but the Killings/AMW sections ruled. Ref bump, Gilberti comes out. Storm has it won with a Sharpshooter on Killings, and he taps, but Glenn hits him with a chair. Killings then gets the Scissors Kick for the win.
**1/4

In the back, Hudson asks Jarrett who his partner is, and he says he'll find one. Callis comes over and says they need to have another meeting, and they go into the locker room.

Match #4: CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Red Shirt Security
This sure happened. Only so much Punk can do, despite this being after he's started to come into his full powers in fall 2003. Julio gets a quick hot tag and it is AWFUL. Botched bullshit everywhere and he wins with a repulsively bad sunset flip on Legend.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson interviews The New Franchise, and Shane Douglas says Chris Sabin isn't getting anywhere near an X Division Title match, and he'll make sure of it next. Something about being franchised. Is he playing on people's fears of chain restaurants? What a horrible catchphrase.

Match #5: Chris Sabin vs. Shane Douglas w/ Michael Shane & Tracy
Sabin does what he can, and takes some good bumps and is crisp. Douglas is again awful because it's fucking 2003He kicks the chain out of Douglas' hand and knocks Michael Shane off the apron. Shane Douglas then charges when Tracy distracts Sabin, but he moves and Shane hits Tracy and Sabin gets a roll up to win.
**

Recap of the Raven stuff.

Match #6: Raven vs. Abyss
Enjoyable for a 5 minute brawl without a real finish. Raven makes a comeback, but Red Shit Security runs out to attack Raven for a DQ.
**1/4

Raven grabs a chair though, and he runs them all off with chair shots, including a ridiculously hard one to Abyss. Raven gets on the mic and challenges the three of them to meet he and The Gathering next week in a steel cage!

NEXT WEEK: SHANE VS. LOW KI FOR THE X TITLE!

In the back, Hudson is with Don Callis. He says he'll book that six man cage match next week. Hudson asks about Piper, and Callis says he let Watts bring him back because he'll give Watts just enough rope to hang himself.

Jeff Jarrett's partner is....Kid Kash. Okay then.

Match #7: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown w/ Roddy Piper vs. Jeff Jarrett/Kid Kash w/ Don Callis
Piper has an NWA flag with him. AJ and D'Lo again made a wonderful tag team. So so fucking fluid and crisp and natural as a team. This is Kash's finest performance in TNA yet. Big bumps, nasty looking offense, keeps it simple, etc. Just a really fucking great classic tag formula match. He gets a little sloppy at the end, unfortunately, but the other three are good enough to carry it. Piper hits Kash with the flag pole as the ref stops Jeff from using a chair, and AJ hits Kash with the Styles Clash to win.
***

Erik Watts comes out to steal their heat and he books Jarrett vs. Sting for next week on the last show of 2003.

TONIGHT: The six man cage match, Jarrett vs. Sting, AJ/D'Lo vs. Team Me, Shane vs. Ki for the X Title, Daniels vs. Sabin

TNA now has actual match graphics, as awful and low budget as they may be. Next step is getting an actual show intro video.

Jeff Jarrett comes out to open the show, and he says he's got something like a 50-0 record against Erik Watts and he says Watts is working on borrowed time as the DOA of this show. Erik Watts and Goldilocks then came out and Watts says Jarrett will have to defend the title on the next show on January 7th. Jarrett says nobody on the board of directors likes him, and his time is limited. Watts says Jarrett will have no more time to prepare now, and his match with Sting starts now!

Match #1: Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett
This is basically the same match as their match about a month ago, except that it has more bullshit interference and they don't quite click as well. Still really good though. The Red Shirts come out, as does Kid Kash, but AMW comes out to fight them. Jarrett gets a guitar, but AJ Styles comes out and takes it. Sting then hits the Scorpion Death Drop to win.
**3/4

In the back, Hudson interviews Raven and The Gathering and says if Raven wins tonight, he'll get the title shot on January 7th, and Raven says when he wins tonight, he will be one step closer to his destiny.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels vs. Chris Sabin
This delivered, obviously. Really crisp stuff, and Sabin is now doing AIR JUVI. They work a story where Daniels is selling blood loss from last week and isn't in top condition and it stops him from winning. They do stuff, and Elix Skipper runs out to make his return and he hits Sabin with a low blow. Daniels then wins with the Angel's Wings.
**3/4

SKIPPER THROWS UP THE X SIGN, AND DANIELS NODS! YES!

Recap of last week's tag title match.

Match #3: America's Most Wanted vs. Glenn Gilberti/David Young [Street Fight]
Gilberti is again randomly a lot of fun in a street fight, and this is way better than I would have expected, while not being overly great or anything. Weapons are used a lot and AMW wins with the Death Sentence on Young.
**1/2

Jeff Jarrett and Red Shirt security come out, and they attack. James Storm gets hit with a Spike Piledriver and Harris gets a guitar broken over his head.

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ and D'Lo, and says whichever team wins tonight gets title shots, be it NWA or Tag. D'Lo says they've had their problems and they're good enough friends that they'll be happy for whichever one of them gets the title shot, and says if he wins the belt, AJ can have the first title shot.

Match #4: AJ Styles/D'Lo Brown vs. Team Me [Winning Team Gets Title Shot]
Another fun AJ/D'Lo carryjob. Johnny and Diamond still aren't great, but AJ does a great job making them look competent. D'Lo does well too, but this is pretty much AJ's deal. Awesome D'Lo/AJ teamwork once again. Jeff Jarrett comes out AGAIN, and AJ takes him out with a dive! They fight, but as that happens, D'Lo is hit with the Problem Solver for the win. BULLSHIT.
**1/2

In the back, Hudson interviews Low Ki about tonight. Elix Skipper comes on and says it's time for Triple X to get back together. Ki says Christopher Daniels is not to be trusted, and in case he hadn't heard, Triple X is dead. Skipper says Triple X is family, but Ki walks off.

Match #5: Michael Shane [c] w/ Tracy vs. Low Ki [NWA X Division Championship]
The theme of tonight is clearly NWA-TNA's best wrestlers and teams carrying really really mediocre teams/wrestlers who TNA has insisted on pushing in 2003. Ki kicking the shit out of him ruled, but then it sort of stagnated when Shane was in control. Ki makes a comeback, but Tracy rings the bell at ringside to distract him. Shane then gets a roll up with the tights for the win.
**1/2

Ki attacks Shane and pulls Tracy in. He tries a Ki Krusher, but Shane Douglas runs out in ridiculous bright yellow pants and gets a low blow. He gets on the mic and derp FRANCHISED, MAKE SUM NOIZE~, all that hot garbage. Elix Skipper runs out and he makes the save! YEAH! FUCK YOU GUYS! Sabin also runs out, and he attacks Skipper once they clear the ring. Christopher Daniels comes out to join in, and all four are pulled apart. Erik Watts comes out and announces that on January 7th, the four of them will compete in ULTIMATE X 2! AWESOME!

In the back, 3LK says their rap single will debut on the show on 1/7. Well if you weren't convinced now, that should really do the trick.

In the back, Jarrett and Callis hype up Abyss and RSS.

Hype video for the main event.

Match #6: Raven/CM Punk/Julio Dinero vs. Abyss/Red Shirt Security [Steel Cage Match - Raven's Title Shot On The Line]
I suppose this could have been a lot worse. Six men in a ring at once and in a cage made this kind of a mess at points, with lots of stuff just sort of going on. The face team did a good job bumping around and making the heels look good, blood was spilled, etc. The Gathering and Raven made a really awesome comeback. Gilberti and Kash try to get involved and get in, but Watts comes out and throws them out. AJ Styles runs out to cut off Jarrett and shit. Punk hit a Flying Legdrop to Abyss off the top through two tables. The Red shirts then got handcuffed to the ropes, and Raven set up the Evenflow, BUT PUNK AND JULIO HIT HIM WITH THE CONCHAIRTO WHAT THE FUCK?! Abyss covers him to win.
**1/2

No title shot for Raven. :(

TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR:

Gogz is a fucking idiot and forgot to announce who the 2002 TTOTY was. Looking at the field, let's assume.

2002: America's Most Wanted

Same as above. Triple X was only around for half the year and D'Lo/AJ was only an occasional team, so this wasn't even close.

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:

2002: AJ Styles

This is as obvious of a foregone conclusion for WOTY as I've had in a review since the 2003-5 Chris Benoit run. Again, it goes to the one great wrestler in TNA who actually regularly got opportunities to be fucking great against other great wrestlers (see: Raven vs. New Church, AMW vs. Team Me for examples of others being bogged down).
