NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Jeff Jarrett, Since 10/22/2003
NWA World Tag Team Champions: 3 Live Kru, Since 11/26/2003
NWA X-Division Champion: Michael Shane, Since 8/20/2003 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY

NWA-TNA
January 7th, 2004
Nashville, TN

TONIGHT: ULTIMATE X 2! TNA 2003 AWARD GIVEN OUT!

TNA also finally has a video package to open the show.

In the back, Jeff Jarrett gives Kid Kash a clipboard and tells him to go to everyone and get them to sign here as a loyalty oath, and Kash walks off. Jarrett then gets on the phone and calls someone named Tom and says he wants to unveil the surprise during his Mr. TNA 2003 acceptance speech, and Tom apparently says he needs to wait. Someone named Tom being on the phone adds so much to WHO WAS PHONE?!

3LK sings their new song and it is horrible.

Jeff Jarrett, Kid Kash, and Don Callis come out to the ring, and Jeff gets on the mic. He says him winning Mr. TNA tonight is a foregone conclusion and he calls out Erik Watts and his golddigger. They come out and Callis says he had their lawyer, Tom T. Tenenbaum (what a letdown) do a background check on Watts and he came up clean, but not the people who hired him and Callis says not to do anything stupid, or this could get very ugly. He tells him to be smart and step down as DOA and Watts says there may be a lot of dirt on the people who hired him, but he will not step down. Watts then says that at some point in 2004, Jeff Jarrett will lose the title to someone. Way to make a bold prediction, Erik. Then a large masked man comes out and runs Jarrett and Kash from the ring.

Another pretape airs from Roddy Piper promoting the NWA.

In the back, Team Me is interviewed. Gilberti and David Young come over and he says that if they don't win tonight and bring the titles back to Jarrett's camp, then he'll have to take matters into his own hands.

Match #1: AJ Styles/America's Most Wanted vs. Abyss/Red Shirt Security
Much better than I expected. Abyss was throwing his weight around to make this something and Storm was a great face in peril. AJ was AJ. Awesome hot tag and finishing run. AMW and the RSS brawl on the floor to distract the ref, and Jeff Jarrett comes out to hit AJ with the belt and Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam to win.
**3/4

In the back, Hudson is with Trinity and Siaki, and he says she won Babe of the Year for 2003. Siaki is mad and says he should have won. What? Kid Kash comes over with the loyalty oath thing and Siaki says he's been advised not to sign anything. They both ask who said that, so he leaves. Kash then tries to hit on Trinity again, but she leaves without signing.

Match #2: Ron Killings/BG James [c] w/ Konnan vs. Team Me w/ Glenn Gilberti & David Young [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This sure went down. David Young gets in and accidentally clotheslines Diamond, and Killings then hits the Scissors Kick to win.
*

Diamond attacks David Young, but Johnny and Gilberti pull him off.

In the back, Raven is standing by. He says most people who open the door for opportunity, like Punk and Julio, aren't prepared for what's on the other side. He says he may have a partner and he may not, and says they can hear him knocking and he's coming in. Quote the Raven, nevermore.

Kid Kash comes out with the clipboard and makes timekeepers and ringside people sign it. Awful security guy Chris Vaugn refuses and hits him with it. They brawl, and a referee comes out and rings the bell. Awful.

Match #3: Kid Kash vs. Chris Vaugn
This was short and nothing really happened. Don Harris came out, after a ref bump, and he hits Kash with a Big Boot and a Sidewalk Slam and he throws Vaugn on top to win.
45/poop

In the back, Hudson interviews The Gathering. Punk says they made a mistake following Raven, and asks how it feels to be brought SO close to the prize, to his destiny, only to have it taken away. He says Raven can have a partner, but they have a surprise of their own.

Hype video for the tag match.

The Gathering comes out, and then Raven comes out by himself. BUT AW SHIT, FUCK YEAH, IT'S THE SANDMAN!

Match #4: Raven/The Sandman vs. CM Punk/Julio Dinero
Generally good, but they'd be much better off with some kind of gimmick. They do stuff and Raven gets Punk all alone with the, you guessed it, ref bump, but a man in a black hood enters the ring and pours ether in a rag. He puts it over Raven's face for a while, and then Punk hits Raven with the Evenflow for the win.
**1/2

The man takes off his hood AND BAH GAWD ITS FATHER JAMES MITCHELL!

In the back, Shane Douglas gives Michael Shane a pep talk and tells him to focus on Sabin and let Low Ki and Daniels destroy each other.

Erik Watts, Goldilocks, and Mike Tenay are in the ring with a Mr. TNA trophy. Tenay says the voting was down to Jarrett and AJ Styles and obviously, AJ Styles wins. He comes out and takes the trophy. He says 2003 was his best year yet, but he's not satisfied with this, and says he's going to win back the NWA Title in 2004! Jeff Jarrett then walks out with Abyss and the Red Shirts and Don Callis. He says AJ only held that title once, but he was the longest reigning champion of last year and took out everyone. AJ says he actually defended the title when he had it though and Tenay suggests AJ puts the trophy up against the NWA Title, but Jarrett says he doesn't deserve that. Instead, he challenges AJ and Erik Watts to face he and Abyss next week, and if they win, AJ gets his shot, but if they lose, then Watts is out of a job! Goldilocks accepts, and Watts is thrown off a little, but says he and AJ can get it done, and they accept.

Hype video for UX2.

Match #5: Michael Shane [c] vs. Chris Sabin vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Low Ki [NWA X Division Championship - ULTIMATE X MATCH]
Huge improvement over the first UX match. They had some really great storytelling going on here. Shane and Sabin are really comfortable with the Ultimate X rules and structure, and don't hesitate to go up for the belt or use the scaffolding or anything. Ki and Daniels try to use springboards and chairs to try and get elevation instead of climbing all the way up and being exposed. Ref bump happened, and Shane, who sort of just hung back all match, tries to bring in a ladder to steal the belt (which is against the rules). They had some cool spots on the ladder and the wires too. Ki and Daniels get pushed off the ladder to the floor, but the ref is back up, and he has security take the ladder away! Shane then tries to climb up regularly, but Sabin dropkicks him off the ladder to the floor and through a table! Sabin climbs up and is able to get the belt down to regain it. Not only did the actual storytelling help this a lot, but having two guys like Ki and Daniels who rule at laying out multi-man spotfests really helped as well.

Nashville, TN

EARLIER TONIGHT: Jeff Jarrett has a checklist and it is "1. Get Signatures, 2. Find out who masked man is, 3. End Watts' career as DOA". He calls his lawyer Tom, and asks if he can give the big announcement tonight, and Tom says yes.

In the parking lot, Jarrett and Callis arrive and the masked man from last week attacks, and the two men get pulled apart.

OPENING VIDEO WITH HORRIBLE RAP SONG!

Match #1: America's Most Wanted vs. Red Shirt Security w/ Don Callis [Rawhide Strap Match]
This kind of blew. This match format fucking blows, and I don't get why they can't just do a Double Strap Match or something. Having to constantly bring guys near the ropes to whip really ruins the flow, and holds them back after having some nice stuff in the six man last week. Storm gets the Superkick for the win.
*3/4

the Red Shirts hang Storm over the top with a strap, but after a while, Harris gets back in with a chair and runs them off.

In the back, Shane Douglas talks to Michael Shane. He says the NWA is holding him back by putting him in a three way tonight for him to earn a rematch, and says they tried to hold him back 10 years ago. Shane then says tonight, Elix Skipper will get his ass franchised. Gross.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels vs. Low Ki vs. Michael Shane [X Division #1 Contender's Match]
For the second week in a row, Shane just happens to be there while Ki and Daniels tear the ring up and are generally awesome, and he reaps the benefits, points wise. Lots of awesome sequences and spots here, and everything was super crisp. Douglas comes out to distract Ki at the end, and Michael Shane hits the Superkick for the win.
***

FEBRUARY 11TH: THE AMERICAS X CUP! AAA VS. TNA!

Glenn Gilberti is in a referee shirt in the ring, and he says whoever loses this match is out of the group.

Match #3: David Young vs. Simon Diamond [Special Referee: Glenn Gilberti]
This is really really horrible. Gilberti hits First Name with the Last Dance and puts Young on top for the win.
1/2*

Johnny Last Name runs out and makes the save.

In the back, Jarrett is with Kash and Callis. He complains about the masked man, and tells Kash to get more signatures.

Match #4: Elix Skipper vs. Shane Douglas w/ Tracy
OH GOD WHY?! This was at least less horrible than the last match, which is probably the nicest thing I'll say about a Shane Douglas match in TNA. Douglas hurts Skipper's neck, and they sell it as really really serious, but his selling is atrocious. Skipper then taps out to a Half Nelson on the mat.
*1/2

Shane refuses to break it, so Low Ki runs out to save! Christopher Daniels also runs out to save, and Douglas bails out. They help Skipper up, and he shakes hands with both of them. Daniels and Ki then stare each other down, and Skipper asks them to shake hands. Daniels puts his hand out, and in a reversal of this situation in ROH, Low Ki now walks away from the handshake of Daniels!

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ, and he thanks the fans for voting him Mr. TNA and says he's going to earn another title shot tonight, and all he needs is Jeff Jarrett all alone to win the belt.

Match #5: Kid Kash vs. Chris Vaugn
This was horrible and short once again, and Kash won.
3/4*

Kash pulls the clipboard out and he makes a KO'd Vaugn sign it. He makes the timekeeper sign it too, and Don Harris runs out and attacks him. The Red Shirts run out to save, but AMW cuts them off. Brawl.

In the back, Hudson interviews Father James Mitchell and the Gathering. He says Raven is in Hell and Sandman can still back out of their match tonight, because Raven is nowhere to be found.

Match #6: The Sandman vs. CM Punk/Julio Dinero w/ Father James Mitchell [Double Singapore Cane On A Pole Match]
No reason they couldn't just do a normal Cane match, but LOLTNA. Still an enjoyable match. The canes get used at the end, and The Gathering wins with a Double Superkick.
**1/4

Hype video for the main event.

In the back, Watts tells Goldilocks to stay in the back.

NEXT WEEK: JOHNNY FAIRPLAY! I don't have next week's show! AW MAN!

Match #7: AJ Styles/Erik Watts vs. Jeff Jarrett/Abyss [Title Shot vs. Watts' Job]
This happened. AJ again tried his best, I guess. Jarrett hits Watts with the belt to win, but fucking Tenay gets up and tells the ref what happened. Bill Behrens then comes out and restarts it. Jarrett then tries to hit Tenay for being a fucking prick. Masked man, who DW calls El Leon, comes out to save. Goldilocks then runs out and starts yelling at Watts that he needs her and she low blows Abyss. AJ gets a sunset flip for the win. What a fucking mess.
**

Callis comes out and has a fit, and he says if this doesn't get overturned, he will quit TNA forever. Watts says if this is overturned, he will quit. OH MY GOD, OVERTURN IT. Jarrett says the owners of TNA would never let Callis leave, because he brings too many people to the table. This ends with Tenay yelling HOW WILL THIS ALL END UP?! Don't give a shit. Fuck all of this. This is a fucking wrestling show, goddamnit. Fuck.

NWA X-Division Champion: Chris Sabin, Since 1/7/2004

NWA-TNA
January 28th, 2004

In the parking lot, Erik Watts and Goldilocks arrive and Brian Urlacher is with them as backup tonight.

Match #1: Abyss vs. D'Lo Brown
This is generally good. D'Lo is big enough that I can buy Abyss bumping for him, as opposed to Abyss bumping way too much for people smaller than him. He's a big dude, and he should act like it more often. Abyss wins with the Black Hole Slam.
**1/4

Abyss sets up a table on the floor, and pulls D'Lo out and Chokeslams him through the table! El Leon runs down to save though, and they have a horrible brawl.

In the back, Camp Jarrett talks about tonight. He tells Gilberti to take care of those clowns, and says one of them signed the loyalty oath and the other didn't, and then whispers in his ear which one it was.

Match #2: Chris Sabin [c] vs. Michael Shane w/ Tracy [NWA X Division Championship]
Shane is finally in a match where he has to do something besides lie around as great workers have a great match, and it shows how clearly he cannot hang at this level. Really boring control and just average work all around. Sabin was good on offense, but yeah. Sabin wins with a roll up.
**1/2

They shake hands, and then Douglas yells at Michael Shane for this.

Pretape interview with Tenay and Johnny Fairplay and he says he's not done in TNA. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Match #3: CM Punk/Julio Dinero w/ Father James Mitchell vs. The Sandman/Mikey Whipwreck
They were better off with just Sandman on his own than bringing in 2004 Mikey, and this continues to be a waste of Punk. Still though, Punk and Julio do a good job. They beat Whipwreck.
**

They beat Whipwreck down with Sandman's singapore cane post-match. A video then airs of Raven beating up Mitchell from their LMS match and the words "I'M WATCHING YOU, DEVIL" flash on.

In the back, Johnny and Diamond talk about which of them signed a loyalty pledge, and Diamond says Gilberti is probably just lying to cause dissension.

In the back, Hudson is with Team TNA for the 2/11 show, and it is Captain Jerry Lynn, Chris Sabin, Elix Skipper, and Sonjay Dutt. What an underwhelming team. Anyways, Lynn says they're going to scout the AAA team in the next match.

Kid Kash comes out with the loyalty oath again. End result? Kash runs away from Don Harris. Why is this still a thing?

Match #4: Juventud Guerrera/Hector Garza/Aguila/Abismo Negro vs. Eric Young/Shark Boy/Matt Stryker/Chad Collyer
What a strange team to fight AAA. Anyways, this is obviously a showcase for the AAA team going into the X Cup in two weeks. The Mexicans are generally alright, but Juvi is the only one who's truly impressive apart from having a nice dive. Juvi beats Sharkie with the Juvi Driver.
**1/4

Team TNA comes out and they all shake hands.

Match #5: Ron Killings/BG James [c] w/ Konnan vs. Red Shirt Security [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
Jesus, talk about trying to pick the lesser of two evils. Killings is once again barely in this, as TNA tries to make everyone forget that he is actually good. Michael Shane and Shane Douglas come out, and Tenay says they and 3LK had problems last week. Douglas hits BG James with a chain AND OH MY GOD, RED SHIRT SECURITY WINS THE BELTS. RIP TAG WRESTLING.
*

In the back, Sandman says he has a partner for next week, AND IT'S TERRY FUNK! YEAH!

Mike Tenay brings out the ICP and HAHAHAH NOPE. NOT WATCHING.

Hype video for the main event.

Match #6: Erik Watts vs. Don Callis [Loser Loses Job]
This was awful, but that's to be expected from Erik Watts fighting anyone, let alone a non-wrestler. They do some stuff. Lots of interference and a brawl on the floor. Trinity comes out to interfere for Callis, but then Goldilocks comes out and tells Watts to Powerbomb her, and he does. Callis brings in the NWA Title, but Watts grabs him for a Chokeslam. Goldilocks gives him a low blow, and Don yells, "GOLDILOCKS YOU WHORE!" in an amazing moment, and then hits Watts with the title belt to win. YES! FUCK OFF ERIK WATTS!

NWA World Tag Team Champions: Red Shirt Security, Since 1/28/2004
NWA X-Division Champion: Chris Sabin, Since 1/7/2004

NWA-TNA
February 4th, 2004
Nashville, TN

In the ring, Jeff Jarrett and Don Callis are in the ring, surrounded by the locker room, and Callis has a neck brace on. Jarrett brags about Watts being gone and he says he talked to his lawyer, and the NWA Board of Directors will soon disband, and they now run this place. He orders all loyal wrestlers to respect the new management and tells Jerry Lynn, First Name Diamond, Johnny Last Name, and Sonny Siaki that since they didn't sign oaths, if they lose tonight, then they are fired. They also book Abyss vs. El Leon and they say if Leon loses, he has to unmask. Jarrett says he heard Watts, in his final act, booked a mystery challenger for his title tonight, and says he knows it can't be AJ, D'Lo, or Jarrett, and asks who it is. Chris Harris speaks up and says it's not him, but he knows who it is. Jarrett tries to bully him into it, but he refuses to tell, and hits Jarrett! This starts a big brawl, and the faces clear the ring.

In the back, Hudson talks to Antonio Pena, owner of AAA, and he guarantees a AAA win next week in the Americas X Cup.

Match #1: Glenn Gilberti/David Young vs. The Insane Clown Posse
This was horrible and the ICP won.
Not feedbacking WCW

In the back, Team TNA again promises victory.

Match #2: Kid Kash vs. Sonny Siaki
Hey, guess what? This blew. Siaki is not any less awful as a de facto babyface. The old lasy who takes tickets, the timekeeper, and Borash, all who have been bullied by Kash lately, runs interference and Siaki rolls up Kash for the win.
*1/4

Don Callis comes out as Kash is mad, and he yells at everyone who interfered for not doing their jobs, and he fires them. That is pretty fair, actually. He tries to fire Siaki, but says he did just win. Kash tries to attack, but Siaki beats him down. Trinity then comes out through the crowd and hits Siaki with a Tornado DDT. Kash tries to hug her, but she walks out.

In the back, Hudson interviews AMW. James Storm, who was not out at ringside earlier, has a taped up shoulder and chest, and is injured. Jeff Jarrett rushes over and again demands to know who his opponent is and Harris says he doesn't need to know, and they get pulled apart before they fight.

Match #3: Abyss vs. El Leon [If Leon Loses, He Must Unmask]
This is horrible. El Leon is someone who when unmasked, shat up TNA undercards for years, so it's not a shocker that he and Abyss are horrible together. Just godawful. Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam and tries to unmask him, but AJ Styles runs out to attack Abyss for the DQ.
3/4*

AJ manages to take Abyss over the top to the floor, and he gets on the mic. He says he wants his title shot, so Don Callis comes out and says he can have a title shot, because tonight, he'll have a Tag Title shot and his partner will be Abyss!

A recap airs of the Gathering vs. Sandman feud over the last few weeks.

Match #4: CM Punk/Julio Dinero w/ Father James Mitchell vs. The Sandman/Terry Funk
This was fun, and the best one of this series since the first one of the year. Great control seg on Funk, and Punk choking Funk and yelling "YOU EGG SUCKING DOG!" was fantastic. Sandman had a great hot tag, but he missed the Rolling Rock onto a pile of chairs. They then hit a Sidewalk Slam/Flying Elbow combo onto an open chair to win.
**1/2

Pretape with Tenay and Team Me. They both deny signing the oath, and Fairplay comes on and says he knows one of them is lying because he knows liars.

Match #5: Red Shirt Security [c] vs. AJ Styles/Abyss [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
Total AJ carryjob. El Leon and Abyss brawl through the crowd early on, so AJ is all alone. He basically uses this to show off some amazing new offense and is generally the fucking man. Chris Harris comes out to distract Northcutt and AJ gets a roll up to win the belts.
**1/2

Recap of last week's main event.

THE FORMAT FOR NEXT WEEK:
-Four singles matches
-2 tag matches
-Eight man elimination match

Erik Watts comes out and says that he may not be DOA anymore, but he's still a wrestler. Oh, son of a bitch. NO! He says he'll make Jarrett and Callis pay and called them out, but Goldilocks came out. She blames him for stealing her spotlight. What? She said she made him feel like a real man even though she got the job done better by herself. Watts went to Chokeslam her, but Jarrett and Callis made the save. BUT DUSTIN RHODES COMES OUT TO SAVE! YEAH! THEORETICALLY, AT LEAST! Dustin gets on the mic and says he's the mystery challenger!

Match #6: Jeff Jarrett [c] vs. Dustin Rhodes [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
Dustin is not in peak 2002 condition or ablity, but he's hardly as awful as he would be in his longer TNA runs. Sort of just above average. Red Shirts interfere, but Dustin fights them off. AJ and Abyss both get involved and yeah. The Naturals come out again and throw powder in Dustin's eyes, allowing Jeff to hit The Stroke for the win.

NWA World Tag Team Champions: AJ Styles/Abyss, Since 2/4/2004
NWA X-Division Champion: Chris Sabin, Since 1/7/2004

NWA-TNA - AMERICA'S X CUP
February 11th, 2004
Nashville, TN

Amazingly, the entrance video is now changed to just being highlights of Jeff Jarrett. AMAZING.

FORMAT:
-Four singles matches = 1 point each
-Two tag matches = 2 points each
-Elimination match = 2 points per elimination
-In event of a tie, the captains (Juvi and Lynn) fight in a singles match for the trophy

Match #1: Chris Sabin vs. Juventud Guerrera
Not as great as their 2003 match, but it also has less time and is them just doing spots in the first round. It is quite awesome though. Juvi gets the Juvi Driver, and it seems like the ref fucked up as Sabin kicks out at 3, but Juvi is given the win.
**1/2

In the back, Hudson interviews Jarrett. He says he has nothing to hide and he wants everyone to see that. He says he'll get more oaths signed and the New Franchise comes in. Shane says they're loyal to him, and Jeff puts them over. Jeff asks if Shane knows who the new DOA is, and Shane asks who hates him the most. Jeff says Mike Tenay does, and Shane says then that's a good guess, and they leave.

Match #2: Sonjay Dutt vs. Hector Garza
This was alright, I guess. They do some spots and it doesn't flow well and isn't that crisp. Garza wins with his not quite fully rotated Corkscrew Moonsault to win, and Mexico is up 2-0.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson talks to Lynn. Lynn says they need to slow it down and not work to their strengths, and they now have to win the next two matches.

Match #3: Jerry Lynn vs. Mr. Aguila
Tenay tries to claim these two were rivals in the WWF, which isn't even a little bit true. This was al ot of fun though. Aguila had some awesome highspots and Lynn was sort just there as well. Lynn wins with a really shitty looking Piledriver.
**1/4

In the back, Jarrett & Co. talk to The Gathering and Mitchell, and they pledge loyalty and Mitchell swears that Raven is gone. Jeff asks him who he thinks is the new DOA, and he says it could be that stooge Tenay, and Jeff says he knew it.

Match #4: Elix Skipper vs. Abismo Negro
AN is pretty awesome. They have a solid back and forth match with good looking offense, and Abismo wins with a La Magistral Cradle.
**1/2

Mexico is up 3-1.

In the back, Juvi cuts a nonsense promo in Spanglish.

Match #5: Jerry Lynn/Sonjay Dutt vs. Juventud Guerrera/Abismo Negro
This is alright. Dutt and Lynn are pretty sloppy in this match, and it's sort of just whatever as a result. Nego once again has an awesome dive and he rolls through a Frankensteiner by Dutt and gets a sunset flip to win.
*3/4

Mexico is now up 5-1.

Match #6: Chris Sabin/Elix Skipper vs. Mr. Aguila/Hector Garza
This is better than the last tag, as Sabin and Skipper are not off in this match, and the luchadores can be carried. Some enjoyable spots and Sabin gets a Victory Roll on Garza for the win to put it at 5-3.
**1/4

In the back, Hudson is with Jarrett & Co. again and all the referees sign the oath. Jeff asks Hudson who the new DOA is, and Hudson says nobody knows. Jeff says somebody has to know and Hudson says maybe Tenay knows.

Match #7: Jerry Lynn/Chris Sabin/Elix Skipper/Sonjay Dutt vs. Juventud Guerrera/Mr. Aguila/Hector Garza/Abismo Negro [Elimination Tag]
This goes on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long for what they're capable of at some 30ish minutes, and it's just kind of a mess by the end. It gets down to Juvi and Lynn, and statistically, if Lynn wins, the best they can do is a draw, forcing another Lynn/Juvi match, but that does not happen, as Juvi wins the match and the cup with the Juvi Driver.
**

Jeff Jarrett comes out with Don Callis and yells at them all to leave and calls Tenay into the ring. He asks if he's the Director of Authority and if not, who he knows, and Tenay says he has no idea. Jarrett says he's a liar AND HE FIRES MIKE TENAY! OH MY GOD, YES! TNA commentary will now be immediately improved. Borash has gotta be less grating than Mike Tenay, right?

NWA X-Division Champion: Chris Sabin, Since 1/7/2004

NWA-TNA
February 18th, 2004
Nashville, TN

Match #1: Jerry Lynn/Chris Sabin/Elix Skipper/Sonjay Dutt vs. Shark Boy/Jimmy Rave/Roderick Strong/Jason Cross

Good showcase for Team TNA. Cross is still worthless, as is Dutt, but everyone else has at least a few moments of value. Scott Hudson and Don West is a much better team than Tenay/West. Lynn beats Cross with the Cradle Piledriver.
**1/4

Jeff Jarrett comes out and breaks a guitar on Lynn's head! He then fires him for losing last week, and makes Elix Skipper the new captain.

TONIGHT: AJ vs. Abyss for the possession of the tag belts, Jarrett vs. Chris Harris, Gathering vs. Funk and according to Funk, Raven

In the back, Chris Harris is interviewed by Terry Taylor. He says he asked for this match tonight because he didn't like Jarrett trying to bully him around and he thinks he can beat the World Champion.

Match #2: Michael Shane vs. Ron Killings
Tracy and the other 3LK members are at ringside. This was decent enough, and not bad at the very least, but not very long either. Shane Douglas comes out to attack Konnan and BG, and they chase him to the back. With that done, Tracy tries to interfere, but Killings stops her, and Shane hits the Superkick for the win.
**

In the back, Terry Taylor interview Gilberti, Kash, Young, and the Red Shirts. Young says he doesn't want to fight the ICP tonight because he hates clowns and Kash says he'll take his place. Gilberti then says that the loyalty oath mystery between Diamond and Johnny will be cleared up tonight.

Match #3: Dustin Rhodes/El Leon vs. Red Shirt Security
Hey, this was hideously bad. The faces win.
1/2*

The Naturals again come down and attack Dustin, but El Leon gets back inside with a chair, and he runs them off.

In the back, Taylor interviews The Gathering and Mitchell. Punk says Raven's been gone for 5 weeks, and he's not coming back. Mitchell says he broke Raven mentally, after doing everything possible to him physically, and he's too much of a coward to come back after what they did.

In the back, Kid Kash yells at the Red Shirts, but then Jarrett kills Legend with a guitar shot out of nowhere. He fires him and tells Northcutt that he can be fired too, but he picks up Legend and throws him out the door.

Match #4: AJ Styles vs. Abyss [Winner Gets Possession of Tag Titles]
Not as great as their first match, but still a good AJ carryjob. Lots of huge AJ bumping, crisp offense, etc. Jeff Jarrett runs out to attack AJ for the DQ, and this ends before they can really make it great.
**3/4

They both beat on AJ, but Chris Harris runs out to save, and they fight off Jarrett and Abyss.

Once again, both members of Team Me deny signing it.

Match #5: The Insane Clown Posse vs. Glenn Gilberti/Kid Kash [Juggalo Street Fight]
AHAHAHA NOPE. I'M ON TO YOUR PLAN, BIGGIE. NOT WATCHING THIS.

Anyways, after the match, Team Me comes out to fight the heels, but Johnny Last Name attacks Diamond and turns heel again.

In the back, Mike Tenay goes up to Terry Taylor and says they need to talk now. GO AWAY, MIKE.

Match #6: Raven/Terry Funk vs. CM Punk/Julio Dinero w/ Father James Mitchell
RAVEN SHOWS UP, BAH GAWD. He is back and mad and revenge-y, so this rules. Funk bleeds and the CM Punk who was one of the best in the world at this time finally shows up in TNA and is brutal on the cut. Terry Funk has some amazing Funk sells, and Raven's hot tag rules. He beats Julio with the Evenflow.
**3/4

Mitchell gets in with a stun gun and goes to get Raven, but Funk pushes him out of the way, and he gets hit with it!

In the back, Scott D'Amore debuts and challenges Team AAA to face Team Canada for their X Cup, and says Canada will be captained by Teddy Hart!

Match #7: Jeff Jarrett vs. Chris Harris
This was good. Pretty clearly just Harris being plugged into a formula Jarrett match, but it was good for that kind of thing. Falls apart a little bit when Harris has the match won, and Kid Kash comes out and forbids him from counting 3 unless he wants to be fired. Awesome angle, but still. Jeff then uses the belt and the ref goes to DQ him, but Jeff says if he wants his job, he'll count 3, and he does.
**3/4

Mike Tenay then comes back out to ruin the show, and introduces the new Director of Authority, VINCE RUSSO!

TONIGHT: Raven/Sabu vs. The Gathering, AJ vs. Abyss in a Tables Match for possession of the tag belts

Match #1: Jerry Lynn vs. Juventud Guerrera vs. Petey Williams
Russo hired Lynn back :( . Tenay says that on 3/10, Team Canada will fight Team AAA. This is awful, due to Petey and Lynn being Petey and Lynn. Lynn hits Juvi with the TKO, but Petey breaks up the cover with a Flying Splash, and he pins Juvi for the win.
*3/4

The other Team Canada members come out to congratulate him, and they are: TEDDY HART, JACK EVANS, and Johnny Devine. Oh well, at least Teddy and Jack are there. Jack, who by the way, is from Washington. Awesome scouting job there.

Mike Tenay gets in the ring and brings out the new DOA, Vince Russo. He says he deserved every chair shot that Jeff gave him in October and he says he sold his soul for ratings in the past. He says he's here to do the right thing and he's sorry for everything that he's done to harm TNA, but he's here to steer the ship right now. Jeff Jarrett comes out and says he'll forgive him if he joins his side. Russo says the curtain is falling on the Jeff Jarrett show around here, and it's time to pass the torch. Jarrett then slaps him and shoves him and walks off, and Russo says his next title challenge would be against someone he doesn't think Jeff can beat.

Recap of the awful heel turn last week.

Match #2: Simon Diamond vs. Johnny Swinger
Hey, this...this happened. I guess not being the worst match on the card is an accompishment for them. Gilberti and Young and Kid Kash get involved to help Last Name, but then the ICP comes out to help them as Biggie continues to try and kill me and the ref throws it out and they brawl away.
*1/2

In the back, Taylor interviews The New Franchise. They say some things and Jarrett comes over and tells them not to trust Russo, and Douglas says he's there if Jeff needs him. Jeff walks off and the camera follows him. He tells The Naturals to take out Chris Harris tonight, and then tells Kevin Northcutt to follow him.

Match #3: Shane Douglas/Michael Shane w/ Tracy vs. Ron Killings/Konnan w/ BG James
This feud is the worst. What happened to New Franchise vs. Triple X? That had potential to at least be average. This is horrible. Konnan makes Michael Shane tap to the Tequila Sunrise, but then other Shane distracts the ref. Tracy gets Konnan with a low blow when he lets go of the hold, and Michael Shane hits the Superkick to win.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson interviews AMW, and Storm's arm is still in a sling. Harris says he has Chase Stevens tonight, and he's going to get revenge for what they did to James Storm a few weeks ago.

Match #4: Chris Harris vs. Chase Stevens w/ Andy Douglas
Nice little 5 minute match. Stevens was generally alright, and Harris wins with the Catatonic.
**

Vince Russo comes out and introduces his next opponent, Andy Douglas!

Match #5: Chris Harris vs. Andy Douglas w/ Chase Stevens
This was just about as good as the last match. One thing I enjoy about AMW and The Naturals is that neither man is clearly better than the other. Harris gets attention over Storm because he's more ripped, but he's not outright better or anything. Means that the teams will likely stay together longer. Anyways, yeah, Harris won this too with the Catatonic.
**

Russo then books Harris vs. The Naturals in a handicap match.

Match #6: Chris Harris vs. The Naturals
This happens, once more. James Storm comes out to stop interference and he Superkicks a chair into Andy's face, and Harris gets the pin to win.
**

Hype video for the tag match.

In the back, Hudson asks Russo what that was about, and Chris Harris comes on and yells at him. Russo says he knows what he wants, but he's not ready. Harris says he's been working for 2 years in TNA, but Russo says Jeff's been doing it for 20, and he wants to get Harris ready. He says on March 17th, he'll have his title shot, but in the next 21 days, he will HATE him like he's never hated another man, but at the end of this story, he will have everything he's ever dreamed of if he just trusts him.

Match #7: Raven/Sabu vs. CM Punk/Julio Dinero w/ Father James Mitchell
This was great! Raven, Punk, and Sabu all bring it, and yeah. Great control seg on Raven, then shit breaks down. Not long enough though, which is unfortunate. Raven beats Punk with the Evenflow, which makes sense as this was during the whole Rob Feinstein scandal, and Punk was the only guy who worked both TNA and ROH who sided with ROH. Not the worst career move in retrospect.
**3/4

Raven gets on the mic post-match, and says once again, the distraction is out of the way and he says he is still coming for Jeff Jarrett and he will still fulfill his destiny! He says it looks like everyone is going for Jarrett now, and says on March 17th, Harris gets a title shot. WELL, WHAT ABOUT HIM? WHAT ABOUT RAVEN?!

Hype video for Canada vs. Mexico on 3/10.

Match #8: AJ Styles vs. Abyss [DOUBLE TABLES MATCH~ For Possession of the NWA Tag Titles]
Apparently this means you have to put your opponent through two tables to win. Weird. Lots of great AJ spots and bumps though. He gets thrown over the top through a table so Abyss goes 1-0. He evens it up with a Frankensteiner through a table, and yeah. They again get cut off before a great conclusion, as Johnny Fairplay comes out and points to the entrance and UGH ITS LEX LUGER AGAIN. I thought he was gone until 2006, so I was horribly wrong. He throws AJ off the top through a table on the floor, and Abyss wins.
**3/4

Luger puts AJ in the Torture Rack to end the show.

Match #1: Chris Harris vs. Kevin Northcutt

This is pretty terrible, and Harris wins with the Catatonic.
*1/2

Tenay says he's heard that Harris will have another match tonight as part of Russo's plan to toughen him up.

TONIGHT: AJ vs. Abyss in a Falls Count Anywhere match

In the back, Trinity is interviewed. She says she's her own woman and maybe Russo will give her something to do because of their New York connection. Siaki comes over and says Russo was the one who told him not to sign the oath. D'Lo, Killings, Konnan, and Diamond come over and they say they hope Russo has stuff for them too, if he's trying to prove himself as a changed man.

Match #2: D'Lo Brown/Ron Killings/Konnan/Sonny Siaki/Simon Diamond vs. Michael Shane/Kid Kash/Glenn Gilberti/David Young/Johnny Swinger
No seriously, who's booking this and why do they hate me? This was enjoyable when D'Lo, Killings, Shane, and Kash were fighting each other, since those guys are at least not totally awful. The heels win with cheating after not letting the actual good wrestlers do much.
*1/2

The ICP then runs out to chase off the heels. Fuck you.

A pretape airs from Frankie Kazarian and he is mad that he wasn't chosen for Team TNA. Well shit, Frankie, you haven't been here for like 4 months, what'd you expect?

Match #3: Jerry Lynn vs. Frankie Kazarian
Another really lackluster nothing match. Tired X Divisiony lame contrived spots stuff. Kazarian has no idea how to work heel at all, and he wins with a roll up with the tights.
*3/4

Raven comes out immediately and gives him the Evenflow. Raven gets on the mic and says he's been more than patient about getting his NWA Title shot, and he's always been told that patience is a virtue, but he is not a virtuous man. He says nobody is more qualified than him, and The Naturals come out. They fight Raven, but the lights go out! SABU'S IN THE RING YEAH! Raven and Sabu run off The Naturals.

In the back, Hudson talks to Jeff Jarrett. He says he knows Russo isn't booking him in a match until March 17th because he wants him to get ring rust, and he then brings in Shane Douglas, and tells him to hurt Chris Harris tonight, so I guess Harris' second opponent is Shane Douglas.

Match #4: Chris Sabin/Elix Skipper/Sonjay Dutt vs. Nosawa/Ebessan/Kuishinbo Kamen
Hilarious Japanese team of Nosawa, a notoriously terrible guy, and two comedy wrestlers. This is almost all Dutt, as clearly the theme of tonight is "Fuck you, Simon". Skipper finally gets in and does one Spinebuster. Sabin hits a Flying Splash in his one move of the match, and then Dutt hits a hideous Flying Elbow to win.
*3/4

Hype video for AJ/Abyss.

Match #5: AJ Styles vs. Abyss [Falls Count Anywhere]
They finally get time and enough development to have a mostly great match. This peaks with the crowd brawl to begin, in which AJ has an amazing dive off the balcony. The stuff in the ring is fine and all, but it's a step down from that. Three referees get taken out, and Don Harris and security and other people from the back have to come down to break it up since they won't stop fighting.
***

Hype for the Canada vs. Mexico show next week. Really don't care, apart from Teddy and Jack.

Jeff Jarrett comes out and yells at Tenay and asks why Russo is the DOA and he starts throwing chairs into the ring. Chris Harris runs out to attack him, and then Shane Douglas comes out to attack Harris. Since all the referees are down from the last match, Don Harris comes out to be the ref.

Match #6: Chris Harris w/ James Storm vs. Shane Douglas w/ Tracy [Special Referee: Don Harris]
So apparently, the real focus of this Harris push is to expose him as not being ready to be a main event singles guy so they keep the belt on Jarrett. If Jeff booked him against shitty opponents to show he can't carry people, then that is amazingly scummy of him. Anyways, stuff happens. Shane cheats a lot, so James Storm gets in and Superkicks him. Harris then hits a Spear to win.
*3/4

Vince Russo comes out and raises his hand. He gets on the mic and says that's two weeks now that Storm has interfered and it makes them no better than Jeff Jarrett. He says he knows Jeff better than anyone, and Harris still isn't ready for his title match in two weeks. Harris grabs him by the collar and says the contract is signed, and he'll get his shot no matter what. Russo says fine, and says he's washing his hands of the match, and he's not responsible. Harris then calls Jarrett back out, and they have another brawl.

NWA-TNA
March 17th, 2004

TONIGHT: Jarrett vs. Harris for the NWA Title! AJ vs. Abyss in a #1 Contender's Ladder Match!

In the back, Raven says that Chris Harris isn't ready for a title shot yet, and if Russo wants the belt off of Jarrett, he was the man to do it.

In the back, Hudson asks Harris if he's ready and he says he's been ready since he first laced up his boots and he says he'll be NWA Champion tonight.

Match #1: Frankie Kazarian vs. Elix Skipper
This continues the storyline of Kazarian wanting to beat all the Team TNA members to prove he should be on the team. Good storyline, it's just that it results in a lot of Kazarian matches, so it's inherently flawed as well. Kazarian wins with cheating.
*3/4

Kazarian attacks post-match, and Lynn runs out to save.

There also a 10 man Gauntlet for the Gold match tonight for the, and I'm 99% confident this is a first, #2 Contender spot.

Mike Tenay gets in the ring and he brings out Vince Russo. Russo says Harris earned his shot tonight. He says everyone is behind him, and he hopes and prays that he wins tonight. Raven and Sabu then come out, and Raven gets on the mic. He asked why only has he not been given a title shot or even a chance at one, but why he's not even booked tonight. Russo says he hasn't been picking up his phone or anything, but if he wants a title shot, the two of them can team up next week in a tournament for the vacant tag titles. Raven says he respects Sabu, but they're both singles wrestlers. Russo offers to put him in the Gauntlet tonight, and Raven says he's already ran the gauntlet for the last year and Russo offers to put him in that ladder match. Raven again says he deserves a one on one title match first and he should put him in Harris' place tonight if he really wants a new champion. Russo says he's not doing that and Raven says he's back to his old tricks then, and asks if Harris is his new boy like AJ was and Russo says it's not like that, and he'll get a shot eventually. Raven says he'll have his full attention by the end of the night, and he leaves.

In the back, Hudson is with THE ALPHA MALE MONTY BROWN! YEAH! I guess he killed the ICP last week. He says he's here because he can be, and he doesn't want clowns in his ring. He says he's the only one hunting here and he's the Alpha Male, and the only thing his opponent will remember is the Pounce. Period. We're getting there, slowly.

Match #2: Monty Brown vs. Chris Vaugn
Awesome Monty squash, as will become the norm. Alpha Bomb ends it, with the Pounce as a set up.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson talks to AJ Styles. He says he'll become the #1 Contender tonight. Hudson asks about the title match, and he says Chris Harris is ready, but Raven made some good points. Hudson asks if he's talked to Vince Russo since he came back, and he says he has no reason to talk to Vince Russo.

Match #3: James Storm vs. Shane Douglas w/ Tracy
This happened. It was slightly better than Harris/Douglas, I guess. Still not great. Tracy accidentally trips up Shane though, and Storm hits the Superkick to win.
**

Douglas yells at Tracy post-match, but Michael Shane comes out to calm them down.

Match #3: #2 Contenders Gauntlet For The Gold
This is just the 10 men from the horrible 10 man tag a few weeks back, so this is pretty horrible. Only thing of note is Raven taking out Siaki with the Evenflow and asking if he has Russo's attention yet. Shane Douglas comes out to help Michael Shane when it gets down to he and Truth, but it fails and Truth wins.
*

Douglas and Michael argue post-match.

In the back, Russo finds Raven and he tells him to leave the building and cool off, and he'll have something for him next week.

Hype video for AJ/Abyss.

Match #4: AJ Styles vs. Abyss [#1 Contender's Ladder Match]
Enjoyable story here, as AJ has to use innovation to combat the size and power. Lots of cool spots based around this, etc. AJ has it won, but Raven comes out and pushes the ladder over and AJ falls out to the floor! Abyss then gets the contract down to win.
***

Raven leaves, and Russo shakes his head on the stage. Raven asks if he has his attention now, and he leaves.

Hype video for the main event.

Match #5: Jeff Jarrett [c] vs. Chris Harris [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
This sure happens. I mean, it's fine and all, but Harris really goes out of his way to be nothing special here and proves that he belongs in a tag team. Kind of hilarious that the build is all about him proving he's ready and being exposed every step of the way and then putting on a very average title match. They do a lot of stuff and yeah. Raven pulls the ref out after a Catatonic and Jeff uses the guitar to win.
**1/2

Russo comes out and gets on the mic and says if Raven wanted his attention, he has it. He says Harris should have won tonight, and the next time Jeff Jarrett defends the title against one of these men (one of these men? Abyss won a #1 Contender's match wtf), it will be a in a Steel Cage! AJ then runs out and attacks Raven to end the show.

Match #1: Christopher Daniels/Low Ki vs. Michael Shane/Shane Douglas w/ Tracy [Tag Team Tournament Quarterfinals

Great of them to randomly reunite XXX after not having either on the show for two months. Shane and Shane again cannot make a cohesive unit, because they are both awful. Ki and Daniels do what they can to carry this. Tracy tries a distraction, but it fails. Daniels and Ki beat him with the PowerPlex.
**

Michael Shane yells at her and Shane Douglas tries to break it up, but Michael Shane walks out.

Tenay says that both Raven and James Storm have been suspended for one week for interfering in the main event last week.

In the back, Hudson interviews Gilberti, Young, and Kash. Gilberti and Young are in the tag tournament, and Kash says he's going to find an amazing tag partner by going back to his roots.

Match #2: Glenn Gilberti/David Young w/ Trinity vs. The New Church [Tag Title Tournament Quarterfinals]
No Mitchell, obviously, and it's Slash and Sinn. No Brian Lee. :( This was generally alright. Slash beats Young in sort of an upset with the Whirly Bird.
*3/4

In the back, Raven and Sabu show up and Russo says he's suspended until next week. Raven says he should have told him or called him or something. Raven asks him if he's going to say it's just business again and he says he's better than AJ or Abyss or Killings or anyone, and especially better than Harris. Russo says they can talk next week and Raven says he'll deal with him later. Russo says Sabu has a match though, and he'll stay, and Raven says he's playing a dangerous game.

Don Harris comes out for a match, but Monty Brown attacks him from behind! He lays him out in the ring, and gets on the mic. He asks where the real competition is, and says he came back to TNA for actual competition, AND SABU COMES OUT TO FIGHT! YEAH! They fight, and he hits the Arabian Moonsault.

In the back, Hudson interviews Hector Garza. He is the new captain of Team Mexico. Juvi :( In two weeks, it will be Team Mexico vs. Team UK. HORRIBLE.

Kid Kash comes out for the tag tournament match, and his partner is...ugh, fucking Lance Hoyt. But for now, his name is Dallas. He also comes out with a nightstick.

Match #3: Kid Kash/Dallas vs. Sonny Siaki/Simon Diamond [Tag Title Tournament Quarterfinals]
This sucked. Hoyt was the second best guy here, behind Kash. Gross. Kash rolls up Siaki to win after Dallas hits him with the nightstick.
*

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ Styles. He is upset about not even being booked this week, and Russo comes on and says they need to talk. AJ says the last time they talked, Russo let everyone down and did something stupid. Russo says he's sorry about last October, but they need to talk about the future. AJ asks what he has for him and says he should be in the Abyss/Killings #1 Contender's match. HOLY SHIT, I KNOW HE SUCKS, BUT ABYSS JUST WON A #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH! Russo says no, and AJ says he wants his hands on Raven then, but Russo says to trust him. AJ says he's not going to make that mistake again.

Match #4: The Naturals vs. BG James/Konnan [Tag Title Tournament Quarterfinals]
The Naturals were fine enough here. Andy Douglas ends up throwing powder in Konnan's eyes and then Stevens hits him with a chair for the win.
*1/4

A video airs on the NWA Title stuff. Apparently the winner of Killings/Abyss faces Harris next week, and then the winner of that fights Jarrett for the belt in a cage.

In the back, Hudson interview Killings, and Goldilocks comes over and laughs and says Abyss is going to kill him.

Match #5: Ron Killings vs. Abyss [#1 Contenders Contenders Match]
Really plodding and slow and ugh. Just very mediocre. Raven comes out at the end and he Evenflows the ref to end the match.
*1/2

AJ Styles runs out to attack Raven, and Abyss and Truth keep fighting. 3LK comes out to help Killings, and then the locker room came out to break up the two brawls. Russo came out and he booked AJ vs. Raven vs. Truth vs. Abyss in the #1 Contender's Contender's Match next week.

In the back, Hudson is with Lynn and Skipper, and they want another shot at the X Cup. Lynn says they should just have all the teams in for one night to really settle it. Scott D'Amore comes in and says Petey Williams will win the six way #1 Contender's Match tonight and would then win the X Title too.

Match #6: Jerry Lynn vs. Elix Skipper vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Amazing Red vs. Petey Williams vs. Nosawa [#1 Contender's Elimination Match]
I'm glad TNA finally remembered they actually have an X Title. Red is slower and sloppier. :( This was a real nothing match. Frankie eliminates basically everyone of note, meaning not Nosawa, and then Red ends up beating him.
**1/4

Horrible show.

Match #1: The Naturals vs. Low Ki/Christopher Daniels [Tag Title Tournament Semi-Finals]

This clearly should have been the finals, but hey, whatever. Ki and Daniels have crisp offense as usual, and the Naturals are an acceptable generic heel team. Not great, but better than the other two teams in the tournament. They need actual finishing offense to be a really great team, since they just have basics now. Anyways, Daniels' hot tag ruled. The Nattys try the powder trick, but Ki kicks it up into their faces, and XXX wins with the PowerPlex.
**3/4

In the back, Hudson interviews Kash and the big man, and he introduces him as his cousin Dallas.

TONIGHT: The four way, Red vs. Kazarian for the vacant X Division Title, since Sabin is injured

Match #2: The New Church vs. Kid Kash/Dallas [Tag Title Tournament Semi-Finals]
This really was no good. Kash/Dallas won. What the fuck? Why?
*1/2

Clips air of Jarrett vs. Silver King in AAA. That would be better than Jarrett/Harris.

Mike Tenay was in the ring, and he invited AMW out for an interview. They come out, but Jarrett runs from behind and breaks his guitar on James Storm! He and Harris have a solid brawl to the ring. Harris avoids The Stroke, and he hits the Catatonic! He brings another guitar in, but Raven then runs down and attacks him! Jarrett gets up, AND RAVEN GETS IN JARRETT'S FACE! FUCK YEAH DESTINY! AJ RUNS OUT, AND HE HITS RAVEN WITH THE SPRINGBOARD FLYING FOREARM! AJ AND RAVEN FUCK YEAH! Jeff then gets the guitar as they brawl away, and he breaks it over Harris' head. Fuck Harris and Killings and Abyss, because God willing, we're back to the Jarrett/AJ/Raven feud that this promotion should be based around.

In the back, Hudson interviews Monty Brown. He says that's not a ring, but it's the Alpha Male's hunting ground. He says it's not duck or rabbit season, but it's open season and he's hunting humans. He says it's not about Sabu, it's about the Alpha Male, and he would Pounce Sabu's mother too. He says the last thing Sabu will ever hear or feel is the POUNCE. PERIOD.

Match #3: Sabu vs. Monty Brown
This is pretty fucking awesome as a pure brawl. Sabu has awesome punches and has to use a combination of craftiness and insanity to avoid Monty's offense and to get him down. They had a few little miscommunications, but since this is a set up for another match, it seems like they should be able to work it out. They went into the crowd and on the stage and Monty had some awesome crossface forearms. The ref finally throws it out as a double count out.
**3/4

They get separated by security now.

In the back, Hudson interviews David Young and Glenn Gilberti. Hudson says Young is 0-17 in the last six months, and Gilberti yells at him that he has to be a winner tonight.

There's a four way tag #1 Contender's match up next, and D'Lo's partner is El Leon. He unmasks to reveal that he is Apollo. I guess this is a big deal? Fuck Apollo.

Match #4: D'Lo Brown/Apollo vs. Michael Shane/Shane Douglas w/ Tracy vs. Glenn Gilberti/David Young vs. Simon Diamond/Sonny Siaki [#1 Contender's Match]
OH MY GOD AWFUL. Really no part of this was good at all, since the only possible good pairing was D'Lo vs. Michael Shane, and they were both hardly in. Johnny Last Name comes out and hits Simon with a chair. Apollo then hits David Young with a TKO for the win.
3/4*

Shane and Shane argue again post-match.

In the back, Hudson is looking for Abyss in the bowels of the Asylum. He finds a woman who is clearly Goldilocks in a black wig doing a horrible English accent, and she says Abyss is preparing for his match.

Chris Sabin comes out on crutches to officially surrender the X Division Title and says he'll be back in a few weeks, and says the good news is that he doesn't need knee surgery. He then joined commentary for the title match.

Match #5: Amazing Red vs. Frankie Kazarian [NWA X Division Championship]
Red is still somewhat smooth in his bumping, but he is not as fiery and energetic on his offense, so he's done as a legitimately great worker. This is the least I've hated Kazarian since his debut in TNA, so that was nice. Red had a good dive. They have some fun spots, and Kazarian schoolboys Red with the ropes for the win and the belt. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
**3/4

Kazarian then grabs the belt on the floor, and he kicks Sabin's bad knee! Lynn, Skipper, and Dutt run down, and Kazarian leaves with the belt.

NEXT WEEK: TEAM CANADA VS. TEAM UK! DAVE TAYLOR IS THE TEAM UK CAPTAIN! FUCK YEAH! Oh, also XXX vs. Kash/Dallas for the tag belts!

Team UK comes out to the stage and Taylor is just in a suit, and he is only managing them. Yeah, fuck that then. Not watching that.

Hype video for the main event.

Vince Russo comes out to do commentary and introduces a special enforcer, AND BAH GAWD, IT IS STING! Random, but awesome.

Match #6: AJ Styles vs. Raven vs. Ron Killings vs. Abyss [#1 Contender's Contender's Match - Special Enforcer: Sting]
Raven now has a horrible "Keep Em Separated" rip-off theme, instead of his far better TNA theme, which is a rip off of a better song. This is a very fun spotfest, due to distinct roles being emphasized. AJ and Truth are young and athletic, Abyss is a monster, and Raven is taking advantage of everything. Raven and Sting get into a fight on the floor. Say, that'd be a killer feud! Near the end, AJ has Raven beat, and Jarrett comes out and pulls the ref out! Sting fights with him and Russo orders Jeff to the back. Jarrett grabs a white towel that Russo just happens to have, and he throws it in. AJ is distracted and thinks Russo did it, but then he turns and Raven gets the Evenflow for the win!

NWA-TNA
April 21st, 2004
Nashville, TN

Match #1: Abyss/Monty Brown vs. Sabu

Raven was supposed to be his partner, but he never showed up. As a result. this is mostly Sabu getting beaten up. He has a few enjoyable spots, but he doesn't get in much offense. Sabu gets hit with the Pounce, and then Abyss beats him with the Shock Treatment Backbreaker.
**1/4

In the back, Raven is found beating on Chris Harris. He beats him down to the bleacher and Raven's Nest area, and he traps his arm in the guardrail, and he beats it with a chair! YEAH! FUCK YEAH RAVEN! He stretches at the arm until James Storm runs out to save. Raven bails, and people come out to check on Harris, including Russo. Raven gets to the ring to escape, and Sabu is mad at him, but he he walks off.

In the back, Kazarian is mad that he's still not on Team TNA and he hears that Dutt and Red will have a Best of Three Series to determine the top contender. That sounds like a nighmare.

Match #2: David Young vs. Shark Boy
David Young loses again.
*1/4

3 Live Kru then comes out to the ring and they are in army fatigues. Konnan says Russo promised everyone opportunities, but they've gotten the raw end of the stick. BG James says Killings should replace Chris Harris in the cage match later since this should have been between he and Abyss to begin with, and Killings says maybe Vince Russo can't handle the truth. Then they dance.

In the parking lot, Chris Harris is loaded into an ambulance, as Russo talks to him, and he says to put James Storm in the match in his place.

Match #3: Sonny Siaki/Simon Diamond vs. Glenn Gilberti/Johnny Swinger w/ Trinity
This was really really fucking awful. The heels cheat to win.
3/4*

It is a 3 on 1 on Siaki post-match, but Desire runs out to make her return to fight off Trinity, and then Diamond gets back in with a chair, and the heels bail. Siaki and Desire hug and what not.

In the back, Borash asks Russo who's going to replace Chris Harris tonight. AJ Styles comes over and says he had the four way won three weeks ago before he and Jarrett got involved, and it should be him tonight. Russo says he's been refusing his apology for months now, and now he asks him for a favor, and he says he should have thought of this six weeks ago.

Match #4: Christopher Daniels vs. Michael Shane w/ Tracy & Shane Douglas [Team TNA Qualifying Match]
I guess they finally realizes that TNA needs to ditch Sonjay Dutt to win the cup. Makes sense. This is good stuff, and clearly Shane's best match since Ultimate X 2. Really just a good Daniels showcase, and Shane was crisp and fine in there as another guy while Daniels did his stuff. At the end, Tracy distracted the ref with her man jaw and Douglas hits Daniels with a chain! Michael Shane goes for the Superkick instead and it lets him get up. Shane yells at him to cover, but he refuses and it allows Daniels to duck the kick, and he hits the Angel's Wings to win.
**1/2

Daniels leaves, and Shane gets on the mic. He asks Younger Shane why he didn't just go for the pin, and they argue. Tracy tries to break it up, but they shove her away, and Shane slaps Older Shane. He takes off his shirt to fight, which is an unfortunate thing. They fight, but Tracy hops on Douglas' back, and Michael Shane lays him out with a Superkick. He then whips him with his own belt, and he leaves with Tracy. Thank god, this group is finally over.

In the back, Russo is walking around and Goldilocks In Disguise comes up with Abyss and says he can replace Harris, but Russo says no and walks off. Ahahahahahaha.

Match #5: D'Lo Brown/Apollo [c] vs. Kid Kash/Dallas [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This sucked again. Apollo vs. Dallas might be the worst possible pairing TNA has to offer, and that was most of this match. Hoyt brings in the nightstick again, but now Apollo loses it, so Kash and Dallas regain the belts by DQ. So why even fucking bother? Goddamnit.
*

In the back, Raven goes up to Russo, and says he did what he did to prove a point. He says he could do that to Jarrett in the cage tonight, and he and everyone else knows that not only can be beat Jeff Jarrett in a cage with nobody to interfere to save him, BUT THAT THIS IS HIS DESTINY! FUCK YEAH! Russo stands up and says a lot of people aren't going to like his decision, but he's made one. He shakes Raven's hand, and he walks off.

A video airs saying that all throughout the month of May, the World X Cup would take place with several teams. This makes a lot more sense than just doing it on one night.

In the back, Borash interviews Jarrett and he yells that this is a conspiracy, and complains that Russo has made a deal with Raven, a deal with the devil, and he says he guesses he'll beat Raven just like he did a year ago.

Hype video for the road to the cage.

Jeff Jarrett comes out and gets in the ring. Russo comes out and talks about everyone that wants the shot tonight, and says that Raven will NOT be getting a title shot, since he won't reward what he did earlier tonight, and with that said, Jarrett's opponent is AJ STYLES! YEAH!

Match #6: Jeff Jarrett [c] vs. AJ Styles [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - Steel Cage Match]
Disappointing match, and their worst singles match yet. Sort of iffy middle portion, and then a nice finishing run. They tried to sell the cage grounding AJ and it being Jarrett's forte, but AJ/D'Lo had two amazing cage matches in 2003, so that makes no sense, because we know AJ rules in cage matches. Anyways, AJ ends up taking a nasty bump to the floor after Jeff throws the ref into the cage. Since he's on the floor and the ref is down, it doesn't count. Jarrett brings him back in and also throws a guitar in. Russo comes out, but Jeff kicks him off climbing the cage. AJ breaks the guitar with a kick though and gets a crucifix pin for the win AND THE BELT! YEAH! FUCK YOU JARRETT!

NWA-TNA
April 28th, 2004
Nashville, TN

Match #1: Jerry Lynn/Chris Sabin/Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper vs. Hector Garza/Abismo Negro/Mr. Aguila/Heavy Metal

Team Canada Coach Scott D'Amore comes out to do commentary and he keeps talking about how Lynn is a bad leader. Team USA is now pretty stacked, and they finally have enough talent to cover for Lynn. Tenay is back to saying that the X Cup will only be on May 26th, so what the fuck? Team TNA looks great here, especially Daniels and Skipper's teamwork. Daniels gets a roll up on Metal to win.
**1/2

Post-match, Lynn yells at D'Amore.

Mike Tenay gets in the ring, and he brings out NEEEEEEEEEEEEW NWA Champion AJ Styles! Now that Jarrett's finally passed the torch, his reign should be great! Feud with Raven on the horizon, maybe more Abyss matches, Monty Brown on the rise, etc. Lots of good opponents! Anyways, he thanks all the fans and says he's going to defend the title next week against Raven! 3LK comes out to the ring and Killings asks why Raven's getting a title shot before him, and he asks if AJ is scared. Vince Russo comes out and says he won't be bullied into giving him a title shot. Konnan talks about how they've all supported him and been friends with him and says he's protecting his golden boy again. AJ says he's nobody's boy and he won this by himself, and he's his own man. He says he'll fight Killings tonight, and he accepts!

Match #2: Kid Kash/Dallas [c] vs. D'Lo Brown/Apollo [NWA World Tag Team Championship - Nightstick on a Pole Match]
Well hey, this was their worst match yet, and had absolutely no redeeming qualities. The stick ended up falling off the pole midway through, so lol TNA. Dallas hits Apollo with it for the win.
3/4*

In the back, Hudson asks Goldilocks what she's doing with Abyss. She says she's been on vacation for months, and says not to imply that she's crazy, because look what happened to Erik Watts.

Match #3: Abyss vs. Sabu
This was enjoyable. Not a brawl and more of a match, but still decent stuff. Goldilocks comes out to help Abyss, but Sabu grabs her. This sets Abyss off, and he hits the Black Hole Slam, and he throws the ref out for the DQ.
**1/4

They beat on Sabu, but oh goddamnit, Erik Watts comes out to save with a bat.

In the back, Simon Diamond says his name is IRISH PAT KENNEY. Horrible.

Match #4: Sonny Siaki/Pat Kenney/Desire vs. Glenn Gilberti/Johnny Swinger/Trinity
Well, this also sucked a dick. Desire rolls up Trinity for the win.
3/4*

In the back, Raven is standing by. He says he's been called a lot of bad things in his life, but he's not a liar, and if he says he'll have Sabu's back, he does. He says Russo shook his hand and said he had the match, but he lied and he changed his mind. He says he's jumped through hoops all his life, and he'll do it again to get his title shot. He says everyone who puts roadblocks in his path is going to pay, starting with James Storm tonight.

In the back, Hudson interviews James Storm. Kid Kash comes up and says he's sorry Harris got hurt. Storm says not to start now because he's already in a bad move, and Kash says he and Dallas are already a better tag team than AMW, and the reason he's sorry is because he wanted to put Harris out himself. Storm punches him, and referees pull them apart.

Match #5: Raven vs. James Storm
this was better than I expected, but not quite great. They have an awesome brawl to begin, and then Raven attacks the arm like he did to Harris, doing a lot of the same stuff. Storm has a decent comeback, but he totally forgets about the arm, not selling it at all. Good nearfalls, but then Dallas comes out and hits him with the nightstick. Raven then hits the Evenflow to win.
**3/4

In a pretape, Jarrett says he will get his title back and says he's forgotten more about wrestling than AJ Styles or Vince Russo even knows.

Match #6: AJ Styles [c] vs. Ron Killings [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
AJ is selling his ribs from last week. His selling is really great, and Truth targets the ribs. They do some cool highspots too, and yeah. There is a ref bump, and another ref comes out. AJ gets a Bridging O'Connor Roll, but he can't keep the bridge due to the ribs, so each ref counts one man down for a draw. Russo comes out to restart the match and shortly after, AJ blocks a La Magistral Cradle for the win.

TONIGHT: AJ vs. Raven for the belt

3LK comes out and Killings complains about getting screwed last week, which is clearly bullshit. Russo comes out and explains that it was a draw and they both pinned each other and then AJ won when he restarted it, so AJ is still the champion. Konnan asks Russo how long he's going to keep screwing them and BG says he should give Truth a rematch. BUT NEVERMIND THAT SHIT, BECAUSE MONTY BROWN COMES OUT AND WANTS A TITLE SHOT! YEAH! Russo says he's bored of this, and tells 3LK to get out of the building.

In the back, Raven cuts the destiny promo again. Can't blame him completely, he's been having to repeat this promo a bunch of times after TNA keeps refusing to just give him the belt.

Match #1: Amazing Red vs. Sonjay Dutt [Best of Three Series - Match #1]
Fuck TNA for making this happen. They do moves and it is not structured well or inventive and Dutt wins.
*3/4

In the back, Hudson interviews Michael Shane. He says he doesn't need Douglas or Tracy to make it in TNA.

Match #2: Michael Shane vs. Shane Douglas w/ Tracy
This was pretty awful and counterproductive. I mean, I guess I get not wanting to put Michael Shane over at all, because he's not really very good and that's been obvious for the last 8 months or so. But since they're keeping him around and giving him another reasonably big push in the next few months, this is a bad booking idea. Tracy turns heel (?) by throwing Michael the chain, but then it is proven to be a failure, as Douglas grabs the chain from Michael and hits him with it to win.
**

Douglas goes after Tracy, since she's revealed the plot, but then Michael Shane Superkicks him, and leaves with Tracy.

In the back, Hudson interviews Scott D'Amore and Team Canada. D'Amore says this is an all new Team Canada and introduces Petey Williams, Bobby Roode, Eric Young, and Johnny Divine as the team. 3LK then barges on and says they're leaving the building. Well, I believe them.

WORLD X CUP: MAY 26TH!

Match #3: Jerry Lynn/Chris Sabin/Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper vs. Petey Williams/Bobby Roode/Eric Young/Johnny Divine w/ Scott D'Amore
This is pretty good. Williams is useless, but the other Team Canada members show potential. Daniels, Skipper, and Sabin are all great. Sabin has a good hot tag, and then they debut the ridiculous bullshit Tower of Doom spot with everyone. The Canadian Destroyer also debuts. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO. D'Amore hits Lynn with the Canadian flag hockey stick and Roode gets the pin to win.
**1/2

In the back, Russo finds his office trashed and he blames 3LK.

Back in the arena, James Storm and Kid Kash brawl to the ring. Storm beats him around ringside and into the ring, but when Dallas comes out, he quickly leaves to avoid a 2 on 1.

Match #4: Trinity vs. Desire
This is horrible. Trinity wins.
45/poop

Trinity tries to bring in a chair, but Sonny Siaki runs out to save.

In the parking lot, Gilberti and Johnny attack IRISH PAT KENNEY and throw green paint on him. Awful.

Hype video for Abyss/Erik Watts. Yes. Really.

Match #5: Abyss w/ Goldilocks vs. Erik Watts
Well this is horrible. Abyss is pretty easily the best guy in this, which is not a sentence I will probably ever type for another Abyss match up. Anyways, Watts tries to use his baseball bat, but Goldilocks grabs it from him. That seems pretty fair. Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam to win.
*1/2

Goldilocks brings in a chain, and Abyss chokes out Watts with it. Security comes out to pull him off, and Abyss fights them. Oh, but Erik fucking Watts is miraculously fucking better and conscious a mere 30 seconds later, and he runs Abyss off with a baseball bat. I hate you.

In the back, Scott Hudson is with a Mexican person and LA PARKA! They celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Raven walks by and says nobody cares about them, and all eyes are on his destiny tonight.

Match #6: AJ Styles [c] vs. Raven [NWA World Heavyweight Championship]
Holy shit, this was REALLY great. I love Raven and all, but I rarely expect legitimate great matches from him for whatever reason. But this was fantastic. He does the armwork that he's brought in lately, but he gets to do it longer on AJ than on anyone else, and AJ actually sells it, which is helpful. All his offense on the comeback is based on using his legs instead, and then once they've moved into the final moments, he still has great subtle sells of the arm, like in the way he holds it. Ref bump happens, then Raven uses a chair. THEN LA PARKA COMES OUT AND DDT'S RAVEN! YEAH! AJ HITS THE STYLES CLASH FOR THE WIN!
***1/2

Raven slowly gets up as AJ leaves, AND LA PARKA TAKES OFF THE MASK TO REVEAL CHRIS HARRIS?! THEFT! FUCK YOU, TNA! THEFT! They have a big pullapart brawl after this, which really wasn't necessary and could have been done next week.

Match #1: James Storm vs. Kid Kash w/ Dallas

Good stuff. I actually enjoyed Kash here as a cheap shot taking cowardly piece of shit, and Storm's offense all looked good. Dallas throws Kash the nightstick at the end of the match, but as he catches it, Storm hits him with the Superkick for the win.
**3/4

They attack him post-match, and D'Lo Brown runs out to save. He gets beaten down and then Chris Harris and randomly, Dusty Rhodes, come out to help and the heels bail.

TONIGHT: AJ vs. Harris for the NWA Title with both Raven and Killings handcuffed to the ringposts to make sure they don't interfere. Why not handcuff them in the back? This is really an obvious set up.

In a pretape, Tenay interviews Russo and he announces the debut of iMPACT. Tenay asks about the title picture and Russo says AJ is insane to keep defending the belt every week and he's already had nearly as many defenses in a month as Jeff Jarrett did in six months. He says he knows Konnan destroyed his office last week, and 3LK will be dealt with.

Match #2: Monty Brown vs. BG James
Another good match to build Monty. They have a decent brawl in the crowd, and then they go back in and Monty wins with the POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCE. PERIOD.
**

He keeps on the attack with several chair shots to the knee, and Ron Killings and Konnan run out to save. BG is helped to the back.

A segment airs with Siaki, Desire, Trinity, and I am skipping it.

Match #3: Amazing Red vs. Sonjay Dutt [Best of Three Series - Match #2]
Dutt is up 1-0. Kazarian comes out to watch and talks on his cell phone to someone, which because Tenay is the absolute worst, is all he can talk about. This is MUCH better than last week, as they actually have some cool spots and Red bumps really well. This time, Red can get the win with the Red Star Press.
**1/4

In the back, Hudson interviews Killings and Konnan. Killings says he should be in the title match tonight instead of at ringside, and Konnan blames Russo for BG's injury (wtf?) and says he's lost all the respect he had for Russo.

Something with Irish Pat Kenney and the NYC. DON'T GIVE A SHIT!

Match #4: Michael Shane w/ Tracy vs. Shane Douglas [Corporal Punishment Match]
They fail to explain the stipulations at all, but there are wooden paddles attached to the ropes with leather straps, so this is pretty gay. So of course, Douglas tries to work the arm in this gimmick match. Michael Shane sells none of it. This is a horrible match. Their normal match at least had a few good ideas, but this just fucking blew. Douglas gets a roll up to again win.
*1/4

In the back, Goldilocks yells that Russo is wrong for giving Erik Watts his job back and she's going to sue somebody, and says she has her own man who will win the NWA Title.

WORLD X CUP: MAY 26TH!

Match #5: Petey Williams/Bobby Roode w/ Scott D'Amore vs. Hector Garza/Abismo Negro
Roode comes out wearing a bucket hat. What a rube. Fun spotfest. Garza had some fun spots, and Abismo and Roode both had moments of greatness. No real flow or structure, but it was fine for what it was. D'Amore again uses the flag/hockey stick to hit Negro and Petey gets a roll up to win.
**1/2

Jerry Lynn rushes down on the mic and is pissed off about how he's outlived his usefulness in TNA and challenges D'Amore to 5 minutes in the ring. D'Amore says if Lynn can beat Roode in the ring next week, he'll get 5 minutes with him, but if he loses, Lynn has to resign as Team TNA captain, and Lynn accepts.

In the back, Konnan is found hurt on the floor. Fuck yeah! MYSTERY ATTACKER~

In the back, Dusty says he'll team with James Storm next week to fight Kid Kash and Dallas.

Hype video for the main event.

In the back, Hudson interviews Raven. He says Chris Harris immediately getting a title shot after robbing him of his destiny again last week is ridiculous. He says that's fine though, because it's not a matter of if he'll win the NWA Title, but it's a matter of when, and he can feel it coming.

Match #6: AJ Styles [c] vs. Chris Harris [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - Raven & Ron Killings Are Handcuffed To The Ring]
Once again, Harris proves himself unable to really hang with a main event guy. AJ playing subtle heel because Harris can't leads to some great dick AJ moments. One of my favorite roles in wrestling is that of a young ace already being confronted with a young guy trying to take his spot, and while TNA completely refuses to treat AJ as The Man despite literally everyone in the crowd and at home knowing he is, he does a hell of a job wrestling as the Ace. AJ does a great job carrying Harris. But as it is TNA, shit breaks down into chaos. Konnan comes down, totally fine, and he frees Killings since he somehow has the key. He hits AJ with the Scissors Kick and security comes out to take 3LK to the back. Raven then grabs the key from the floor and unhooks himself. He hits Harris with a chair, BUT FUCKING SABU RUNS AFTER RAVEN AND CHASES HIM TO THE BACK! I'm hyped for their matches, but they still clearly skipped a step from them having friction to Sabu wanting to get him. Kash and Dallas then come out to hit Harris with the nightstick and AJ hits a Rolling Lariat to win. Credit to AJ for pulling out a great match with a mediocre opponent and all that bullshit.
***

Killings and Raven come back down and a big fucking brawl breaks out. Russo comes out and books a four way next week.

NWA-TNA
May 19th, 2004 (IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN)
Nashville, TN

We begin with a message from Frankie Kazarian saying not to steal PPVs. Maybe they should have gotten someone likeable to do this.

TONIGHT: AJ/Raven/Harris/Killings for the NWA Title in the DEADLY DRAW MATCH~

Match #1: Jerry Lynn vs. Bobby Roode w/ Scott D'Amore [Lynn's TNA Captaincy vs. 5 Minutes With Scott D'Amore]
This is fine enough. Roode is hit and miss, and they have some cool spots. At the end, Lynn intercepts the hockey stick flag, and he hits Roode with it. He then hits the Cradle Piledriver to win.
**1/4

D'Amore gets in and attacks an exhausted Lynn for the 5 minutes, but after 30 seconds or so, Lynn makes a comeback, and Team Canada comes out to save. Sabin and Daniels and Skipper run out to even it up, and Team Canada leaves.

In the back, Hudson interviews Vince Russo and he says if 3LK, James Storm, Sabu, Kid Kash, or Dallas gets involved with the main event tonight, they will be fired, and nobody will be able to protect AJ Styles tonight. Wait, what the fuck? #1, that isn't the story at all. #2, why is he mad at AJ now? #3, EXPLAIN THE RULES OF YOUR FUCKING MAIN EVENT.

Match #2: David Young vs. D-Ray 3000
FUCK YEAH D-RAY! He isn't really good or anything, but I love his hair and what not. Young dominates, but again loses after The NYC and Kenney brawl to ringside. Ahahahahahaha.
*1/2

Security breaks up a fight that nobody wants to see.

In the back, Hudson talks to Scott D'Amore and he says Jerry Lynn may have won the battle, but next week, Canada would win the war.

Match #3: Abismo Negro/Mr. Aguila/Heavy Metal vs. Nosawa/Taichi Ishikara/Ryuji Hijikata w/ Another Guy
Team Japan is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWFUL. They got a bunch of AJPW young boys and Fucking Nosawa, so it's almost not even fair that they have like 1-2 years of experience at most and they have to represent their entire style. Hijikata shows promise but everyone else blows. Aguila wins with a 450 Splash on Hijikata.
*3/4

Goldilocks and Abyss come out and she calls out Erik Watts. He comes out with a bat, and they have another really horrible brawl. I like this, as it ensures Abyss won't somehow sneak away with WOTY after being attached to AJ Styles for the first 3 months of 2004.

Frankie Kazarian comes out to do commentary.

Match #4: Amazing Red vs. Sonjay Dutt [Best of Three Series - Match #3]
Less sloppy than the first match, but not as inventive and crisp as the second. Sort of just a repeat, which is what anyone could have expected to happen when they fight three straight weeks and neither are truly great wrestlers in 2004. Red hits a Jig n' Tonic for the win.
**

Kazarian tries to get in, but Red knocks him off the apron with the Evansguri.

Hype video for the Bunkhouse Match.

Match #5: James Storm/Dusty Rhodes vs. Kid Kash/Dallas [Bunkhouse Brawl]
Dallas is shitty, but everyone else delivered a great match, to my surprise. I enjoyed Kash's performance two weeks in a row, so I guess that means he's actually good again. Great stooging and bumping and the work on Storm's leg was awesome. I had no idea that legal man tag rules were enforced in a Bunkhouse Match, but it was still great. Storm had good selling, and Kash took off the boot on his bad leg. Dusty had a great hot tag, and he hits Kash with the nightstick on the floor. He throws Storm his cowboy boot, and Storm puts it on. He Superkicks Dallas with it, and covers for the win, while still selling well.
***

In the back, Hudson interviews Monty Brown, who cuts a truly insane promo. He says the Alpha Male lives at the top of the food chain, and he hunts here too. He does a Hudson impression and he says he has his eyes on -- he then stops and glares at Scott and tells him to assume the defensive position. He says anyone who looks him in the eyes will be treated as aggressive. He says he will have his eyes on the main event because it's taking place on his hunting grounds and by his watering hole. He says sooner or later, one of those unfateful omega males will have to face the Alpha Male and tonight someone will feel the POUNCE! WHAT? POUNCE! HUH? POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUNCE. PERIOD.

FUCK YEAH MONTY BROWN.

In a pretape, highlights are shown of the Team TNA guys, and Daniels says that TNA invented and perfected the X Division, and he promises victory.

WORLD X CUP: NEXT WEEK!

The rules for the main event are FINALLY explained:
-Two men start, a new man is in every 5 minutes
-If someone gets a pin before everyone is in, the person they pin is eliminated
-Final pinfall can only occur when everyone is in
-This is like 75% of the way to the Championship Scramble idea, which is a legitimately great match type
-As it is though, awful

Hype video for the main event.

Match #6: AJ Styles [c] vs. Raven vs. Ron Killings vs. Chris Harris [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - DEADLY DRAW MATCH]
AJ and Harris start. AJ carries him through stuff, and Raven is in next, and then Killings. Everyone is good and they have some really awesome spots and sequences. The rules just kind of blow. AJ is obviously MVP, and breaks out a really crazy and at the same time a really beautiful Springboard SSP dive onto everyone. IT gets chaotis, AND JEFF JARRETT COMES OUT AND HITS AJ WITH THE GUITAR! Raven hits the Evenflow, but Harris pulls him off and hits a Flying Elbow on AJ. Raven takes Harris to the floor, and Killings gets a Flying Scissors Kick to win the belt.
***

Jarrett demands his rematch, but Russo comes out and books the KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH in two weeks.

TEAM MEXICO: Hector Garza (C), Abismo Negro, Mr. Aguila, Heavy Metal
TEAM JAPAN: Nosawa (C), Ryuji Hijikata, Taichi Ishikara, Mitsu Harai Jr.

Match #1: World X Cup Gauntlet
This is alright. No need to go over who's in it, since it's not a shock. Good performances by everyone you'd expect them from. Daniels and Sabin especially, but Eric Young and Abismo both took huge bumps, Roode had fun power spots, and Garza seemed pretty on his game. The Japanese team is again almost completely useless, save for some NASTY kicks from Hijikata. Goes down to Garza and Skipper in the final match up. They have a decent exchange and Garza hits the Corkscrew Moonsault for the win.

USA: 1

JAPAN: 0

A recap aired of last week's title change.

Jeff Jarrett comes out to the ring and he demands Tenay gets in and gives him the mic, which is a really weird trend in TNA. Apparently, only Mike Tenay can authorize use of the mic. He also calls Russo out to explain this King of the Mountain match and why it's not just one on one. Russo comes out and says Jarrett does have a rematch, but last week, he screwed AJ Styles, and Raven and Harris have both screwed each other, and he wants to settle it once and for all, and whoever walks out of next week as NWA Champion will really be on top of the mountain in TNA. Ugh. I'm not ready for the result of next week's show, and then the next 11 months. I'm really considering a TNA btb, starting in June 2003. Not sure if I'm doing it yet, but I wanted to throw that out there.

Match #2: Christopher Daniels/Elix Skipper vs. Bobby Roode/Johnny Devine
FUCK YEAH TRIPLE X! Lots of awesome double teams from then. Devine is really just a blank slate. Roode has nice power spots, but is still kind of bland on the whole. Daniels has a good hot tag, and yeah, quality finishing run. PowerPlex ends it for XXX.

NEXT WEEK: Kash/Dallas vs. Storm/Dusty for the tag titles

Match #4: Abismo Negro/Heavy Metal vs. Ryuji Hijikata/Mitsu Harai Jr.
This is alright. Metal and Harai are both awful, but the Hijikata/Negro stuff is good. Harai hits Metal with an average Exploder to win.

Match #5: Jerry Lynn vs. Mr. Aguila vs. Eric Young vs. Taichi Ishikari [Ladder Match]
Both Canada and Japan are on the verge of elimination. This was just alright. Goes on way too long, once it gets to the point where nobody is even trying to climb the ladder and they're just doing pedestrian ladder spots. Lynn is setting up for the Cradle Piledriver on Young off the ladder, but D'Amore runs out and hits Lynn with the hockey stick flag. Young is then able to get the X down and Canada is alive.

Hype video for the debut of iMPACT.

Match #6: Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams vs. Hector Garza [Ultimate X Match]
Since all three teams are tied, the winner of this will take the Cup. Some really cool spots here, and they had a nice story with Petey being a sneaky piece of shit and Sabin being the most experienced with the structure. Too many contrived and ridiculous spots to really call it great, but it was very good for what it was. Good finish to play off Sabin's experience. He and Petey meet at the center of the X, and Petey tries a rear naked choke to pull him down, but Sabin is able to shake him off, and he falls down, making the mistake of letting go of the rope. Garza tries a Missile Dropkick to knock Sabin down, but Sabin is able to swing his legs up to avoid it, and he pulls the X down to win.

TONIGHT: KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH

Match #1: Petey Williams/Bobby Roode w/ Scott D'Amore vs. Jerry Lynn/Heavy Metal
The two worst men on their teams join forces! Some good action here, but nothing to write home about. Not that any of you have homes, you fucking shiftless vagrants. D'Amore gets caught trying to use the hockey stick by Lynn, but then Eric Young runs out and hits Lynn with the hockey stick, and Petey gets the pin.

Team TNA makes the save.

In the back, Chris Harris promises to win the title. Shut up.

Match #2: Monty Brown vs. Sonny Siaki
Siaki drags this down. Monty looks good on offense and has shockingly good focus on the ribs. Siaki refuses to sell, but Monty does well. Pounce ends it. PERIOD.
**

The NYC comes out to attack Siaki, but Irish Pat Kenney saves.

In the back, Hudson interviews AJ. He says he considers himself the favorite tonight because the ladder makes it his kind of match. Raven comes over and asks why Hudson is interviewing this idiot about strategy. He says he has a great strategy, and it's eliminating opponents before they get to the ring, and they have a pullapart brawl.

Recap of the best of three series.

Match #3: Frankie Kazarian [c] vs. Amazing Red [NWA X Division Championship]
This is decent enough, but not as good as their first match. Some really sloppy moments. Kazarian retains with the Wave of the Future.

Match #4: Abyss w/ Goldilocks vs. D-Ray 3000

Decent squash. Goldilocks randomly has a briefcase with her. Black Hole Slam ends it.
*1/4

Goldilocks opens the briefcase to reveal a lot of money. Erik Watts runs out to attack Abyss and he yells that that's his money, but security comes out and takes him away. Good. Goldilocks yells at him to go home to his wife. Wait, what the fuck? They were dating in storyline for like 6-7 months, and that's the first time that got brought up?

In the back, Hudson interviews James Storm and Dusty Rhodes. Storm says Kash and Dallas messed with the wrong cowboy and Dusty says those titles would look good on the hood of his truck when he's driving home after that trip to the pay windah.

Match #5: Kid Kash/Dallas [c] vs. James Storm/Dusty Rhodes [NWA World Tag Team Championship]
This was very good, but not great like the Bunkhouse Brawl. Kash was again pretty good as the piece of shit he is. Storm has it won with a roll up on Kash as the ref deals with Dusty, but Dallas hits him with the nightstick and Kash reverses into his own roll up for the win.

HYPE FOR THE MAIN EVENT!

RULES OF KOTM:
-The winner is the first man to hang the NWA Title up from the top of a ladder
-If you get pinned, you go in the Penalty Box for 2 minutes
-If you pin someone, you qualify to hang the title
-Once again, it's TNA trying to force a creative new gimmick when something normal would have made more sense

Match #6: Ron Killings [c] vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles vs. Raven vs. Chris Harris [NWA World Heavyweight Championship - KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH]
I refuse to go over every fall in this, but it was very good in spite of the awful rules. If not for the rules, if it was maybe just a ladder match, it would have been a great match. AJ had a craaaaaaaaazy dive over the penalty box onto everyone. Some cool ladder spots too. Truth almost has it, but Jarrett hits him with the guitar, and he hangs the belt up to win. :(

Gonna be a long 11 months.
