WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984
WWF Tag Team Champions: The North-South Connection, Since 4/17/1984

WWF Championship Wrestling
January 5th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The US Express [Barry Windham/Mike Rotunda] vs. Rusty Brooks/Charlie Fulton

This is fine enough. The faces' basic arm work is fine enough and looks good. Fulton is again awful. Barry beats Rusty with the Running Bulldog.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Capt. Lou Albano and Cyndi Lauper get an award for fighting MS at Studio 54

Video airs of Hogan training Hillbilly Jim. They do a montage to "Eye of the Tiger", and it is hilarious. Hillbilly Jim, despite being super fucking jacked, has trouble maintaining his balance on gym equipment. Jim wants to wrestle, but Hogan won't let him until he trains a lot.

Match #2: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Steve Lombardi/Mario Mancini
This was short. Sheik ruled though, despite wrestling in capri pants for some reason. Volkoff gets in solely to win with the Russian Backbreaker.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Blackjack Mulligan comes in. He says he's still not over all he ate for Christmas. He says he's one of the only men in the world who can straighten Schultz out and he gets his bigotry and his prejudices, but he has to come to terms with a few things. He says he'll start punching Dr. D in the face as soon as he sees him in Boston, and he won't finish until about 2 am.

Match #3: The North-South Connection vs. Paul Roma/Salvatore Bellomo
The champions beat the shit out of them. Dick Murdoch punching Paul Roma really fucking hard in the face is the apex of wrestling. The North-South Connection further proves how amazing and ahead of their time they are by winning with the Cuban Missile Crisis.
**

It is now time for Piper's Pit! He brings out his guests, Big John Studd, Ken Patera, Bob Orton, and Bobby Heenan! Piper says they made an idiot out of Andre, and Heenan says it was planned from the start. He says they wanted to demoralize Andre and embarrass him. Patera says they didn't think it would be as easy as it was to knock him unconscious. Piper says John Studd is the only true giant, and he pulls locks of Andre's hair out of a bag. He gives Piper a lock as a gift for having him on the show.

Match #4: David Schultz vs. Jim Young
YEAH! BRIEFLY MORE DR. D SINCE THIS WAS TAPED BEFORE MSG! Not classically great or anything, but enjoyable. Flying Elbow ends it for the good doctor.
*1/2

DON MURACO VIGNETTE! HE'S COMING BACK FINALLY! He says unlike Hogan, he didn't pay girls to show up with him on the beach.

Match #5: The Briscos vs. Gino Carabello/Dave Barbie
MAN UP! Good matwork from the Briscos. Bruno tries to shit on the jobbers for having no technique and only using power, which is hilarious. Jerry makes Gino tap out to the Figure Four.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Adrian Adonis comes on to promote a rematch with the Briscos. He says Dick couldn't be here tonight because he's busy doing their taxes, but everyone knows the Briscos are a fluke team. He says he'd rather burn out than fade away, and the Briscos will have to kill them if they want to win the belts. He says the strong will eat the weak the next time they wrestle, and wishes Gene a happy Chanukah. Amazing.

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984
WWF Tag Team Champions: The North-South Connection, Since 4/17/1984

WWF Championship Wrestling
January 12th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The Tonga Kid vs. Mike Powers

Horrible tonga Kid squash as usual. He does nothing special or interesting for 5 minutes, and then wins with a horrible Diving Headbutt.
3/4*

WWF UPDATE:
-More clips of Albano and Lauper accepting the MS award, now with Hulk Hogan involved too

Match #2: Greg Valentine vs. Joe Mirto
This was alright. Lots of clubbering and meandering stuff here from Valentine, as opposed to the nastier elbows and knees he's been capable of. He wins with the Figure Four.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The US Express comes in and they talk about being proud to be American and they say they don't like Sheik and Volkoff

Hogan trains Hillbilly Jim some more.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Andre The Giant comes in, and says he has a Texas Tornado match with JYD vs. Studd and Patera. He says he will chase them all over the country if he has to, and he'll take his time getting his revenge until he feels he's done that.

Match #3: The US Express vs. Mr. X/RT Reynolds
WWF has taken a hint from Bill Watts and has the faces coming out to "Born in the USA". At least every babyface on the goddamned roster isn't using it. Bruno says Windham is almost as fast as he was. FUCK YOU BRUNO. Vince keeps belting out a Ed McMahon like YES SIR! at offensive moves. Rotunda wins with an Airplane Spin.
*1/4

It is now time for Piper's Pit. Bob Orton is in the background again, so I suppose Piper made him his bodyguard during the three months I didn't have TV from 1984. Anyways, his guests are THE NORTH-SOUTH CONNECTION! YEAH! He says he tried to find the Briscos and found their teepee in Oklahoma and then asks how they could get a win over the tag champions on this show last month. Murdoch says that was a fluke and he had the flu and doctors said not to wrestle. Piper says that makes a lot of sense, and he gets it now, and of course those Indians took advantage of that. Adonis says the Briscos are crying to promoters that they want title shots now, but they've already beaten them since then and maybe Frankie Williams and Jose Rivera deserve the next shot.

Match #4: Tito Santana vs. Paul Kelly
YEAH TITO! This is super faced paced and Tito is really fiery and shit. He his the Flying Forearm, but shakes his head, AND HE PUTS ON THE FIGURE FOUR INSTEAD AS A MESSAGE TO VALENTINE! YEAH! Tito wins with that, obviously.
*3/4

Another Muraco vignette. He has Mr. Fuji with him now, and promises a return to violence.

Match #5: Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Powers/Aldo Marino
It's a Studd and Patera squash for 5 minutes, so this wasn't much. Patera wins with a Full Nelson.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Wendi Richter
-No thanks
-BUT SHEIK SHOVES HER OFF SCREEN AND COMES ON WITH A PAINTING OF THE AYATOLLAH! He says she is attractive only for fat Americans. He says he heard Rotunda earlier and says one thing he didn't win is an Olympic medal or a world championship, and he says if he tries to wrestle with the Sheik, he will make him HUMBELL~

Footage of the Piper/Hogan/Albano/Lauper segment from MSG airs to end the show.

Roddy Piper/Bob Orton vs. Jimmy Snuka/Tony Atlas, Philadelphia (January 12th)
As I watch more of their matches, I grow convinced that Piper vs. Snuka in St. Louis was a total miracle. Both men have some horrible punches here. This was really pedestrian and poorly executed. Felt like a bad off night for everybody who was involved, except for Tony, who already wasn't good at all. It ended up going to a double count out after all four men brawled to the back.
*1/2

The North-South Connection [c] vs. The Briscos [WWF Tag Team Championship], Philadelphia (January 12th)

George Thorogood is in the crowd. Fuck yeah. This is only about 15 minutes, so it is tighter than MSG. Same basic ideas as MSG. Awesome matwork to begin, then a big control seg from the champions. Lots of nasty elbows and punches from Murdoch, and yeah. The Briscos do stuff at the end and one of them gets on the Figure Four. The ref deals with the other and Murdoch sneaks in and hits the other with the edge of a chair, and he pulls Adonis on top to win.

WWF Tag Team Champions: The North-South Connection, Since 4/17/1984

WWF Championship Wrestling
January 21st, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Blackjack Mulligan vs. RT Reynolds

Mulligan looks pretty awful here, but he's far past his prime, so whatever. HE wins with a shitty elbow drop.
1/2*

WWF UPDATE:
-More on the MS award, with Lauper, Wolf, Hogan, and Albano in the back. Albano says he's apologized to Lauper, and they've made up. He then puts over Hogan.

Match #2: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Jim Powers
Another not horrible Beefcake squash. He does stuff well, but he really has no presence in the ring and he's just kind of doing stuff. Powers has decent jobber offense. Beefcake wins with the Whoopie Cushion again.
*1/2

Brutus keeps beating on him and they cut away to the sounds of "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr. Surreal.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Andre The Giant comes on. It is he and JYD vs. Studd and Patera again, and he swears revenge and calls Heenan a weasel

Match #3: The Junkyard Dog vs. Rusty Brooks
Typical JYD squash. Vince's boner for him on commentary is nearly as awkward as his Shawn Michaels commentary boner in 1996. Of course, maybe if JYD got to come within inches of showing his cock to end a PPV with Vince losing his mind on commentary, I'd say otherwise. JYD wins with the slam.
THUMP

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The Iron Sheik comes on and he says Mike Rotundo reminds him of all the good looking Italian people in the Boston, MA. He says he might be the Syracuse state champion (not a state), but he is not the man from Tehran, Iran and he's won medals everywhere. He then takes off his robe and says he is Mike's master and he says he hopes the Americans have enough gasoline to come see him beat the American children and THEY WILL FIND OUT WHO IS THE REAL! IRAN NUMBER ONE! Amazing insane Sheik promo.

Match #4: The Spoiler w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Salvatore Bellomo
Spoiler does well for himself, even breaking out OLD SCHOOL~. Spoiler wins with the Claw Hold. FUCK YEAH!
*1/4

It is time for Piper's Pit, and his guest is Tito Santana. He also tells Tito to calm down as long as Ace is here behind them. He talks about Greg ruining his knee and him trying to come back. Tito says he knows the Figure Four now, and he has one that's just as good as Valentine's. He says he wants to put it on Valentine too, and Piper says he doesn't think so. Tito says he could make Piper tap out to it, so Piper then tells him to put it on Ace, just to see. He puts it on, and he taps out, so Piper picks up a chair! Tito lets go and stands up, and Piper backs off. ARRIBA!

Match #5: Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Young/Paul Roma
Another bad squash from the power team. Heenan keeps telling the camera that Studd's $15,000 challenge is still unbeaten.
3/4*

MURACO VIGNETTE!

Match #6: Hulk Hogan vs. Johnny Rodz
Good Hogan showcase. Beefcake and Valiant come out to watch. Legdrop ends it.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEW:
-Don Muraco comes on! YES! Gene asks about Mr. Fuji being his new manager and he says he's chosen him as his personal spiritual adviser. He says they have a feel between them, and Fuji's been training him good. Muraco says they should go out like old times, because he's got some girls Gene might likes, and he knows how he likes the full figured ladies. Gene initially is pleased, but then looks at the camera and ends the interview. Amazing.

WWF Tag Team Champions: The North-South Connection, Since 4/17/1984

WWF Wrestling
January 21st, 1985
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY

Match #1: Bret Hart vs. Rene Goulet

This is enjoyable. Didn't need 10+ minutes, but it told a nice basic story of matwork vs. cheating. Bret wins with the Sleeper.
**

Match #2: Jim Neidhart vs. Tony Garea

It seems like something awesome is starting soon. This is all about putting over Neidhart's power, and like the Bret match, they tell the story well and the match is fine, but they don't need 10+ minutes to do it. Anvil wins with a Running Powerslam.
**

Match #3: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Swede Hanson

Swede hails from Slaughter Creek, NC, which is almost as great a town as GOD DAMN, WV. Same idea as the first two matches, with this going way too long for what they needed to do. Muraco wins with a Tombstone.
*1/2

Match #4: Andre The Giant vs. Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan

This sort of just happens. Lots of Patera stalling and basic shit. Andre choking and hurling Patera around was a lot of fun. Heenan pulls the ref out to throw Patera brass knucks, but the ref sees it, and he calls it a DQ.
*3/4

Andre blocks the shot with the brass knuckles, and Patera and Heenan flee to the back.

Match #5: Roddy Piper/Bob Orton vs. Jimmy Snuka/The Junkyard Dog [Texas Tornado Rules]
Better than the Philadelphia tag match due to a hotter crowd and better Piper and Orton performances. The babyfaces are mostly useless still though. Lots of good strikes from the faces, and yeah. Piper trips up JYD as he runs off the ropes and Orton gets an Oklahoma Roll to win.
**1/2

Gene announces that next month in a special that will be taped by MTV, it will be Hogan vs. Piper for the WWF Title in THE WAR TO SETTLE THE SCORE!

Match #6: Greg Valentine [c] vs. Tito Santana [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
OH FUCK YEAH! Gene says Jack Brisco was the one who taught Tito the Figure Four. After their last match, Tito doesn't rush into anything. Valentine works on the midsection, and it is very awesome. Tito sells well, and comes back by working the leg. Greg cheats like a motherfucker to avoid the Figure Four, and blatantly tries to get counted out several times. Tito misses the Flying Forearm though, and then Greg starts nailing him with elbows and knees and shit. Tito hits the Flying Forearm out of nowhere, but it knocks Greg out to the floor! This time, he is able to retain the title by being counted out.

WWF Tag Team Champions: The US Express, Since 1/21/1985

WWF Championship Wrestling
January 26th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

The US Express won the tag belts in Hartford on the 21st, with their new manager Capt. Lou Albano. That means we are nearing the end of Dick Murdoch in WWF. :(

Match #1: The US Epxress vs. Gino Carabello/AJ Petruzzi
They have not announced the title change yet, since this was taped in December. BOOOOOOOOOOOOORN IN THE USAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Fuck you, Bill Watts. Good squash, mostly Barry's work tonight. Bulldog ends it.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:
-The finally show some footage from the 12/26 MSG show with Piper and Hogan fighting

Match #2: Jimmy Snuka/The Tonga Kid vs. Dave Barbie/Rusty Brooks
Short horrible squash. Superfly Splash ends it.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Big John Studd comes in and says he has nothing to fear from Andre the Giant after he's slammed him and humiliated him. He says Andre couldn't even slam him, let alone pin him.

Match #3: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. SD Jones/Aldo Marino
Another good Sheik showing. Nikolai is still worthless. Sheik wins with the Camel Clutch on Aldo, making him humble.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Andre the Giant comes in, and says he can slam Studd and he will

Match #4: The Moondogs vs. Steve Lombardi/Jim Young
The Moondogs do a lot of clubbering and biting. They win with a shoddy looking Backbreaker/Flying Elbow combo.
*

Don Muraco vignette.

Match #5: Hillbilly Jim w/ Hulk Hogan vs. Terry Gibbs
This is all about putting over Jim's power. He is not awful, and they do what they need to do. He wins with a Bear Hug.
*

Jim does a cartwheel and celebrates with Jim.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Paul Orndorff comes on, still being in the WWF apparently, after doing nothing for the last few months. He says women leave their husbands for him, and it's not his fault and he's truly sorry to all those men. Gene plays along and keeps rolling his eyes at the camera, and he says he's the best man to ever compete in the Boston Garden.

WWF Championship Wrestling
February 2nd, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The Junkyard Dog vs. Johnny Rodz

Typical awful JYD squash.
DICK THUMP

WWF UPDATE:
-They recap the MSG angle again, and Lord Alfred says the extent of David Wolf's injuries are still not known. This means New York City must have the worst doctors ever, since that was over a month ago.

Match #2: Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Peter Pompell
Really brutal squash by Mr. Wonderful, his best in some time. Awesome high knee off the ropes. Not long enough for him to get a lot of these things in, but he wins with a Piledriver.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Andre and JYD cut a promo about the Texas Tornado tag against Studd and Patera. JYD says dem boys ran like a scalded dog and then Andre speaks in incomprehensible giant speak. Something about slamming John Studd.

Vince and Fucking Bruno recap the tag title switch, and apparently, Capt. Lou Albano is now managing the US Express.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Don Muraco and Mr. Fuji come in. Fuji denies that Boston Garden is jinxed for him after losing the IC Title there. Muraco says it's hard for him to care about being in the second match with George Wells after main eventing. He says it's true that maybe Boston is jinxed, but he's okay with that, because it finally gives him an excuse to never wrestle in Boston again. Fuck yeah.

Match #3: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Aldo Marino
This was whatever. Muraco's not a great squash guy, and he wins with a Tombstone.
*1/2

It is time for Piper's Pit with Andre the Giant. Piper says he and Ace are huge fans. Andre says he'll get even with Studd and Patera his way, and Piper says he's 100% behind them and Andre makes him call him Mr. Giant before he leaves. Piper makes Ace make sure he's gone, and Piper calls him a real idiot. He says John Studd is bigger than Andre and says when it comes to Andre, the bigger they are, the tinier the brain.

Match #4: Jim Neidhart w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jose Luis Rivera
FUCK YEAH NEIDHART! Short Anvil squash, which was unfortunate. Running Powerslam ends it.
*1/4

Match #5: Jimmy Snuka vs. Jeff Craney

This is 2 minutes of Snuka doing matwork. What a horrible decision, Snuka blows at matwork. Then he hits a slam and wins with the Superfly Splash. Awful. He's fine when running through his spots, so this was a mistake.

WWF Championship Wrestling
February 9th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Tito Santana/Blackjack Mulligan vs. AJ Petruzzi/Terry Gibbs

This was mostly Tito being Tito, so it was good. Blackjack's parts were boring and uneventful, but whatever. Tito wins with the Figure Four.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips air of Mr. T and Wendi Richter talking to Cyndi Lauper. Lord Al says that Mr. T is mad at Roddy Piper for what he did to Lauper in MSG in December. A caption in the screen says that Mr. T will be on Piper's Pit next week!

Match #2: Greg Valentine vs. Jim Powers
Bruno says he's more impressed with Powers than with any other young talent. Goddamnit. Greg works the leg with some great stuff, and he wins with the Figure Four as well.
*3/4

SOME FAG NAMED FREDDIE MILLER INTERVIEWS:
-Fuck this guy
-Bob Orton comes on and says JYD used to steal hubcaps to make due, but he's fighting the Cowboy and he's a master and he's forgotten more holds than JYD can know, let alone spell. He says all the gold rings and jewelry in the world won't make the Dog have class like him, and he is what he is, a common street thug. Fuck yeah, Orton.

Clips of the MSG incident AGAIN air, but now in full.

FAGGOT INTERVIEWS:
-The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff come on. Nikolai says they want the tag titles and they stole them to begin with. Sheik says he's looking forward to this show to beat up the All American boys. He says he knows the people will chant for the USA, but that song sucks and he hopes the American people have enough gasoline to make the trip and he won all these medals and fucking Freddie cuts Sheiky baby off. The worst interviewer.

Match #3: The North-South Connection vs. Salvatore Bellomo/Rick McGraw
This is the final NSC match and Murdoch's second to last taped match. Horrible. It is yet another amazing NSC squash though. Lots of nasty Murdoch offense and what not. Adonis holds his own too, but as always, it's Murdoch's show. They sell a little dissension in the NSC, and instead of a double team, Murdoch just wins with a shoulderbreaker and a nasty elbow drop to the face.
**

It is time for Piper's Pit, and now Captain Lou Albano is the guest! Piper talks down to him about the award ceremony and he says Albano is still a piece of garbage. He stands up and gets in his face, so Piper introduces him to his bodyguard, Bob Orton, aka Ace, and Albano brings on his bodyguards, The US Express! Piper and Orton leave, which is unfortunate, as that would have been a great tag match. Albano puts over the champions.

Another Hogan and Hillbilly Jim training vignette. Hillbilly Jim says he put hawk gizzards in the protein shake, and it says it made his beard grow and made him more powerfuler, so Hogan drinks it. Hogan gives him an old pair of his boots from when he was training to come back to the WWF.

Match #4: Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Young/Joe Mirto
Another bad power squash here. Patera wins with the Full Nelson.
1/2*

AWFUL SUB-HUMAN FAGGOT INTERVIEWS:
-Roddy Piper comes in and says he has Snuka again. He says it always says "Piper fights Giant" and it then always says that David wins again, and Goliath falls. He says he's beaten Snuka time and time again, despite everyone saying that he'll never survive this week. He says he's ready to be done with Snuka and he's looking past him to Hulk Hogan! He says he is the destroyer of legends and giants and fucking Freddie cuts him off again. FUCK YOU, FREDDIE MILLER.

Match #1: The Junkyard Dog/Tony Atlas vs. Terry Gibbs/Carl Fury

Tony is only marginally better than JYD. Still awful.
ASSHOLE THUMP

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips air of Studd, Patera, and Heenan cutting a jobber's hair just like they did to Andre

Match #2: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Mario Mancini
Alright Brutus squash. He wins with a High Knee. In fact, it is the knee strike that most resembles Triple H's knee strike, since Harley Race did a straight front knee to the chest. Triple H's knee lift is now to be called the Brutus High Knee or something.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Thank god, he's back
-The US Express comes on and says a whole lot of nothing about Sheik and Volkoff and how they're transitional champions

Match #3: Bret Hart/Ivan Putski vs. Charlie Fulton/Gino Carabello
Some weird fucking tag teams in 1985. Bret looks good again, and he wins with a Sleeper on Gino.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Nope, just a rundown of a Boston card

Match #4: Jesse Ventura vs. Steve Lombardi
Ugh, I thought he was gone. God damnit. He's still the worst.
1/4*

It is now time for a special Piper's Pit with Mr. T on the set of The A-Team. He says since he's a real life bad guy who beats folks up for a living, and Mr. T says he's not bad. Piper says he doesn't need a chair with his name on it. Mr. T says Piper only fights wimps and says he's tough because he can punch a lady. Piper says he doesn't know how kids can look up to him with his stupid haircut, and somehow, that gets Mr. T going, and he has to be held back. Piper tells him not to mess with him.

Match #5: Tito Santana vs. Jeff Craney
Good Tito squash as usual. Figure Four ends it.
*3/4

Match #6: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Tony Garea/Aldo Marino

Not nearly enough Sheiky baby here. Mostly pedestrian Nikolai offense, and then he wins with the Russian Backbreaker on Aldo.
*

In a pretape, Roddy Piper cuts an amazing promo. He says Hulk Hogan asks how he could kick a woman, but the thing is, it's 1985, and he's an equal opportunist. If a woman hits him, she has it coming. He says he's supposed to feel bad for what he did, beating up a tart and a wimp and a fat slob, and asks by the way, why does doing one good thing for MS forgive Albano for all he's said over the last few years. He says Snuka can't run down, because of his bodyguard Ace and all, and he loves his bodyguard, and Ace is watching his back. But all of a sudden, Hulk Hogan snakes in, like he's going to do something to him, but when he looked him eye to eye, he stopped because he knows better. He says he doesn't blame him because he is the legend killer (!!!). He says not to get him wrong, and if he saw Hogan drowning in a river, sure he'd throw him a rope. He'd throw him both ends.

Dick Murdoch vs. Barry Windham, Philadelphia (February 16th)
Windham is not as great as he would be by the time they met again in 1987, but this was still awesome. It's Dick Murdoch for 14 or so minutes in a singles match, and he puts on a hell of a show in his final WWF match to make Barry look like a million bucks. Amazing selling. Dominates on the mat, and then sells in great subtle ways for Barry's brief pockets of offense. He ends up Hip Tossing him over the top in a NASTY bump, and then Barry takes killer bumps for epic Murdoch punches on the apron. Barry fights back to take him to the floor AND BARRY PULLS DICK THROAT-FIRST INTO THE TURNBUCKLE CABLES! HE CHOKES HIM ON THEM AS HE PUNCHES HIM IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD! YEAH! It turns into this incredible Memphis/Mid-South style war of attrition with insane punches and bumps for several minutes. Murdoch beats the fuck out of Barry with a fan's crutch on the floor and hits him in the eye with the sharp end twice. He rolls back in and tries to slam him in from the apron, but Barry turns it into a cradle to win!
***1/2

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant [WWF Championship], Philadelphia (February 16th)

This is basically a Hogan showcase. Brutus has solid bumps and a decent control seg, but it's just really really average. He's not bad like he will be as a face, ut he's just a guy doing stuff. He hits a Running Knee Lift and gets 3, but Hogan has his foot on the ropes. Brutus and Johnyn celebrate, but then Hogan gets a schoolboy to retain. Big fucking surprise that in 13 months, the person to get the strongest rub from a Hogan defense is Brutus. Goddamnit.

WWF THE WAR TO SETTLE THE SCORE
February 18th, 1985
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY

Technically, only Hogan/Piper was aired on this special, but I found 3 other matches from the same MSG show, so those will get reviewed.

Wendi Richter [c] w/ Cyndi Lauper & David Wolf vs. Lelani Kai w/ The Fabulous Moolah [WWF Womens Championship]
Kai is Moolah's apprentice, according to Gorilla. This is alright, due to Kai doing a lot of good cheating instead of generic lady fighting. 12 minutes was still WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long. Moolah also keeps interfering and she then hits Lauper on the floor! Wendi reaches through to get her, and she punches Wendi, and Kai rolls her up to win the title!
*1/4

Jimmy Snuka vs. Bob Orton

Awesome performance by Ace, making Snuka look amazing. Gene and Gorilla say that Piper has put a bounty on Snuka too, but they don't specify how much. He carries Snuka through matwork and then takes over. Lots of nasty elbows and forearms. Orton then accidentally forearms the post, which could cause a man to wear a cast for years. Snuka works on the arm to fight back, and after he kicks the arm, he gets a sunset flip to win.
**1/2

Paul Orndorff vs. Tony Atlas

Decent enough six minutes. Basically a showcase for Paul, and his offense is all good stuff. He also has some awesome sells. Tony argues with the ref over Paul's foot being in the ropes, and Paul then gets a bridging waistlock pin, not quite a German Suplex, for the win.
**

Posted Image

A full Scottish band plays Roddy Piper to the ring for the main event. Fuck yeah. Orton is with him and has his arm in a sling. IT HAS BEGUN! Piper also has an electric guitar, and Piper wrecks it in the ring. Mr. T is in the front row and Piper yells at him.

Bob Costas also does the ring introductions.

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Roddy Piper w/ Bob Orton [WWF Championship]
The first minute of this is amazing. Both men roll around on the mat and punch at each other and all of the punches look awesome and they have a great chaotic vibe. It then turns into a normal match, which isn't bad by any means, but it's just not what it could be. Gorilla and Gene try to claim the Sleeper is an illegal choke hold. It picks up again when Hogan comes back. Paul Orndorff comes out and as the ref is down, he hits Hogan with a Flying Knee Drop! They do a 2 on 1 and the Lauper/Wolf/Albano team comes out to cheer on Hogan. AND MR. T HOPS THE RAILING! PIPER INVITES HIM IN, AND HE GETS IN! THEY CHEAP SHOT HIM, BUT HOGAN SAVES! Piper and Orndorff leave, and that's probably the end of the match.
**1/4

Police and referees and security separates the four men, and they take Piper and Mr. Wonderful to the back. The ref is getting back up, and Hogan is announced as the winner by DQ. He celebrates with Mr. T and Lauper.

In the back, Gene interviews Hogan. He says tonight was special because of the Rock and Wrestling Connection and he says he saw the devil in Roddy Piper's eyes and he tried to spit on all they stand for tonight, brother. He says this war is not settled, and he says these are three rats in a pack and he'll die for this title. Wolf and Lauper come in and they put over Hogan and the Rock and Wrestling Connection. Lauper says he won't let double teaming stand like that. Mr. T then comes in and says only a sissy hits a lady and then he had to help his friend Hulk Hogan. He says he likes good clean wrestling and he could only take so much. Hogan says he appreciates it and he sees the eye of the tiger in Mr. T and he says he'll be there if Hulk needs him.

Celebrities are then interviewed.

Gene is interviewing Danny DeVito when Roddy Piper comes out of the shower. Gene berates him for having no professionalism and he says he'll do what he wants since he runs this place basically. Piper says it took just about 10 people to keep Hogan from fighting him tonight and says if he ain't got the guts to defend the belt one on one, he shouldn't have it to begin with, and he should leave it with him, because he has no problem beating people like a man. He says he doesn't give a damn and he left Hogan laying like a piece of garbage, and Piper yells that he wasn't pinned and the people didn't see Hogan do nothing. He says he's the rightful champion and tells Hogan to bring the gold and the little black man, and he storms off.

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984
WWF Tag Team Champions: The US Express, Since 1/21/1985

WWF Championship Wrestling
February 23rd, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The US Express w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Johnny Rodz/Steve Lombardi

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN IN THE USAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Rotundo wins with the Airplane Spin.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Alfred tells us about the title switch at MSG

Match #2: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Joe Mirto
SON OF A BITCH. NO. GODDAMNIT NO. FUCK JIMMY HART. This is a fine Valentine squash though. Figure Four is the end.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Freddie Blassie comes on and says his men are going to take the tag belts soon enough. Gene asks how he, as an American, can stand with communists, and Blassie then asks why he's wearing a red neck tie. He says the next champions will be Sheik and Volkoff, and says Gene is damn right, he sold out, and for a high price.

Match #3: David Sammartino vs. RT Reynolds
AWFUL.
Sonjay Dutt vs. Chad Collyer

Andre comes out to congratulate David. Awful.

Match #4: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Tony Garea
This was good stuff. Garea has good basic jobber offense, and matwork is done by both men. More of a scientific showcase, and Muraco reverses an inside cradle into one of his own to win.
**

It is time for Piper's Pit and he brings on Heenan, Studd, and Patera again. He puts them over for humiliating that big imbecile Andre The Giant. He says Patera is the strongest man alive and Studd is the one true giant and Bobby Heenan is the brain that put it together. Piper says every night, Studd has $15,000 on the line to anyone who can slam him, and Heenan says most nights, they don't even bother, since nobody can do it.

Clips air from Hogan/Piper from 2/18 and all the post-match.

Match #5: Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Young
Heenan sets up a stretcher on the floor as the match begins, for the jobber's aid post-match. Another great Paul squash. Lots of nasty knees and elbows, and he really gets time this week to beat the shit out of him. Piledriver ends it.
**

The jobber is then stretchered out.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Hillbilly Jim, who gives us this gem:

Posted Image

-He rambles a lot about giving Gene the key to the city of Mudlick, KY
-After he leaves, Roddy Piper comes on next. He says that Jim might be related to Snuka with his stupid headgear. He says he's taken out giants and World Champions and nobody can pin him, but this guy out of a tree just won't go away.

WWF Championship Wrestling
March 2nd, 1985

Match #1: Tito Santana vs. Carl Fury

Great Tito squash. Lots of fire and big chops and forearms. He hits the Flying Forearm and then the Figure Four for the win.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-JYD highlights, and Alfred teases a Valentine/JYD program

Match #2: Jim Neidhart w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jim Powers
Awesome squash! Powers had good jobber offense and took big bumps when Anvil tossed him around. Running Powerslam ends it.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-JYD speaks jive

Match #3: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Paul Roma
This sure as fuck prevents three great squashes in a row, god damn. At least it's short, about a minute, and Brutus wins with the Knee Lift.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEW:
-Lou Albano comes on. He predicts that Snuka will beat Piper in Boston, and Gene asks about the tag title match. He says it's a tough match and Sheik and Volkoff are experienced and big and talented, but he thinks his boys have the energy that comes with youth and they're just a little faster and they can get the job done.

Match #4: The US Express w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Gino Carabello/Pat Poland
Awesome jobber name. Another typical US Express squash, which means solid wrestling, but something's just missing because both are inexperienced, despite Barry showing a ridiculous amount of promise against Murdoch. Barry defeats Poland with a Bulldog.
*1/2

It is time for Piper's Pit. Ace is in a sling behind Piper, and he brings out his guest, Paul Orndorff. They introduce footage of Hogan stealing the belt from him, since he couldn't beat him. Orndorff calls Mr. T's haircut the stupidest thing he's ever seen, and Piper says he's heard they want to fight the two of them in a tag match, and they can't stop laughing. Piper tells them to go ahead, because they're not scared of anybody and they accept.

The ending of Richter/Kai from 2/18 in MSG is shown.

Match #5: Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. SD Jones/Rick McGraw
Another bad Heenan Family squash.
1/2*

Heenan gets on the mic and says as he expected, none of these ham and eggers could slam his giant for $15,000. Andre The Giant comes out and challenges Studd, but Heenan makes his guys leave the ring.

WWF WRESTLEMANIA: MARCH 31ST, 1985! HULK HOGAN AND MR. T VS. RODDY PIPER & PAUL ORNDORFF! LIVE AT MSG, AND ON PAY PER VIEW! THIS IS PROBABLY REALLY IMPORTANT!

WWF Championship Wrestling
March 9th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The Junkyard Dog vs. AJ Petruzzi

Typical shit.
CUNT THUMP

WWF UPDATE:
-Hayes goes over the Andre/Studd feud.
-He says Andre has promised to slam Studd at WrestleMania

Match #2: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Pete Pompeii
Muraco sells the Fuji influence by using a lot more karare strikes and nerve holds. It is good looking stuff. He ends it with a Tombstone.
*3/4

FAGGOT FREDDIE MILLER INTERVIEWS:
-Greg Valentine and Satan come on. Satan talks about the Valentine/Tito Lumberjack Match and says Greg wanted a manager who was low down and dirty, like a snake in the grass, and here he is. How is he still alive and in perfect health when so many others are dead or in awful health? Goddamnit. Valentine says the deck is stacked against him with this match and it's the champion's advantage to get counted out, and this isn't fair.

Match #3: Hillbilly Jim vs. Charlie Fulton
Acceptable Jim squash. Bear Hug ends it.
*

Hilariously, this is Jim's last match for a while. From wiki:

"Unfortunately, Morris was sidelined by an injury a few days later. At a show in San Diego, he appeared in Hogan's corner in a match between Hogan and Brutus Beefcake. While chasing Beefcake's manager Johnny V around ringside, Morris slipped on a wet spot and (legitimately) broke his leg. To help fill in the seven months during his recovery, similarly-dressed "family" members Uncle Elmer, Cousin Luke, and Cousin Junior were introduced for Morris to accompany to ringside as a manager."

RUSSIA NUMBER ONE! IRAN NUMBER ONE! USA? *SPITS*

Match #4: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Sean O'Grady/Brian O'Grady
This was more Sheik than Nikolai, so it was quite good. Camel Clutch ends it.
*1/4

It is time for Piper's Pit, and Orndorff is the guest again. Paul says he's seen Hogan train before, and he can match him any day of the week in the weight room. He says Hogan and Mr. T are training in Hollywood, but they're training with chains and bells in the swamps. Paul says Mr. T is a boy who's in over his head and they're going to do something bad to him. Piper says they aren't cartoon characters, they're the real thing and if Mr. T is stupid enough to get in there in three weeks, they will destroy him.

Match #5: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Aldo Marino
Another good Valentine squash. Great elbows and knees, etc. Figure Four ends it.
*3/4

WRESTLEMANIA: MARCH 31ST!

A video airs of Hogan and Mr. T working out together. Mr. T has 5 tacos, and then he agrees to go to Venice Beach for the hanging and banging. They then lift weights and Mr. T constantly says he pities the fools. Hogan says they've gone back to basics, so that's why they went back to Venice Beach. Mr. T says Hogan is gonna get his pythons ready and then he's going to teach Hogan about jungle warfare. They then go running and shit. "Eye of the Tiger" montage again. Really well put together piece.

Match #1: The US Express w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Terry Gibbs/Rusty Brooks

Exactly that I expect from a US Express squash by now. Solid, not great. Windham gets the win with the Bulldog.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:
-Recap of the Richter/Kai feud

WRESTLEMANIA: MARCH 31ST!

Match #2: Ricky Steamboat vs. Steve Lombardi
FUCK YEAH STEAMBOAT! Lots of super crisp and athletic stuff. He gets 3 minutes to really show off his stuff, and Brawler is a great jobber for a guy to debut against. Flying Crossbody gets the win for Steamboat.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Hulk Hogan comes in and says everyone is talking about WrestleMania, and he says he has a lot of obligations and matches before the 31st, and he has to worry about Magnificent Muraco in Boston. He says he talks about the darkness, but his manager is always interfering. He says Mr. T has been hired for one year as his bodyguard, and he'll be in Boston to watch his back.

Match #3: King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Mario Mancini
Not a great squash. Bundy's kicks all looked quite awful, and he did clubbering. He wins with the Avalanche in the corner.
1/2*

Bundy demands the ref counts to 5 post-match.

A video airs with Gene and Billy Martin, talking about WrestleMania.

Match #4: Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Young
This was more of an angle than a match, and it is over in about a minute, when Andre the Giant comes in and attacks Studd for the DQ.
1/4*

They fight for a little bit, but Studd leaves the ring once he has enough distance.

It is time for Piper's Put, and Brutus Beefcake and Johnny Valiant are there. Beefcake says he has that kid David Sammartino at WrestleMania and he doesn't like Bruno saying he's not any good on commentary every week. Valiant says Brutus broke Jim's leg, and he's going to do the same to David and to Bruno if he gets in the ring.

Training video with Piper, Orndorff, and Orton in a scummy gym.

Match #5: Wendi Richter vs. Peggy Lee
This gets 5 minutes. What the fuck? It's no good, and Richter wins with a sunset flip.
3/4*

Ricky Steamboat vs. Matt Borne, Philadelphia (March 17th)
Good 11 minute match to establish Ricky in a new territory. Imagine this in 1993, my god. Borne cheats a lot and has good heel jobber offense. Steamboat is super fucking crisp and what not and he wins with the Flying Crossbody.
**1/4

Roddy Piper vs. Jimmy Snuka, Philadelphia (March 17th)

This is only 7 minutes, and is the most like their awesome match last year. It shows promise of that match, but the punches aren't as good and the crowd isn't as totally molten hot. They still have a really awesome and chaotic brawl, and it goes to a double count out.
**3/4

They keep fighting, and Piper punches out the ref before they get pulled apart.

Greg Valentine [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. The Junkyard Dog [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Philadelphia (March 17th)
The worst Greg defense yet, but it's hardly his fault. Lots of stalling and him bumping around for JYD. JYD then spends most of the match controlling Greg with an Abdominal Stretch. Horrible job from whoever laid this out. They finally get going a bit, and Valentine wins with a roll up with his feet on the ropes. Heel-in-peril is a horrible match style.
*1/2

Ricky Steamboat vs. Terry Gibbs, MSG (March 17th)

Good 4 minute Steamboat showcase. Gibbs is shitty though, both on offense and defense, and he gets a lot of offense for some reason. Steamboat makes a comeback, and he wins with the Flying Crossbody.
*1/2

Greg Valentine [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tito Santana [WWF Intercontinental Championship - Lumberjack Match], MSG (March 17th)

The use of this stip makes a lot of sense in this feud, which is nice. The lumberjack stipulation still constantly breaks up the flow, and it's only 10 minutes on top of that. Sort of just a match, as a result, and clearly the least of their title matches. The struggle for the Figure Four is good. They end up knocking heads in the corner, and Valentine happens to fall with his hand over Tito for the win, barely.

WWF UPDATE:
-Andre agrees to put up his career against Studd's $15,000 at WrestleMania

WRESTLEMANIA: MARCH 31ST!

Match #2: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Joe Mirto
Decent Brutus squash. He throws a good European Uppercut to the surprise of everyone. Jumping Knee ends it.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Greg Valentine and Jimmy Hart come in, and Valentine says Tito can't run away from him anymore. He says he's never ran from anyone in the WWF, especially from Tito, and he says he can't wait to break his leg again when he gets the Figure Four on him.

Match #3: David Sammartino vs. Bob Wade
Even worse than the JYD squash. The best thing about David is Bruno's refusal to acknowledge him as his son on commentary.
David Sammartino is the only thing as bad as David Sammartino

Match #4: Tito Santana vs. Rick Savage

Good Tito squash, nothing new here. Tito only gets 90 seconds here, but it's still of quality. Tito wins with the Figure Four.
*1/2

The AMAZING Piper's Pit with Hogan, Snuka, and Mr. T from MSG is shown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV0fmljASTc

Match #5: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Tony Garea/Jim Powers
Real good 3 minute squash. Nikolai FINALLY comes out with some great power spots, and both of the jobbers bump really well. Sheiky baby fucks Powers in the ass and makes him humble old country way with the Camel Clutch.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Bobby Heenan comes on and says he can't believe Andre was stupid enough to put his career on the line, but then again, he absolutely CAN believe that. That's why he's The Brain. He brings on his giant, Big John Studd, and he says they will retain $15,000 and Andre the Giant will be out of wrestling.

BUDDY ROSE! He makes Gene announce him at 227 pounds. He can hang with the champs on the mat and makes them look awesome before the other kid gets in to eat the pin. Bulldog does the job.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-JYD will get an IC Title shot at Greg Valentine
-UGH

Match #2: King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Paul Roma
I am not filled with AS MUCH joy here as I was when Dick Murdoch punched Paul Roma right in the eye several times, but Bundy beating the fuck out of Roma is still great. Bruno talks about Roma's potential. Fucking Bruno. Avalanche does the trick.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Hard sell for WrestleMania
-Cyndi Lauper promo. Don't care.

Match #3: Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Savage
Another real good Ricky squash. He's doing a really great high knee now as well. Crossbody ends it.
*3/4

Match #4: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jim Powers

Very good squash. Powers' jobber offense was good looking as usual. Muraco goes to the eyes to get out of it, and he hits the Tombstone to win.
*3/4

They re-air Piper's Pit from MSG.

The Hogan/Mr. T training video is shown again.

Match #5: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Pete Pompeii
Lots of nasty elbows and forearms here. Greg gets 4 minutes to really beat the fuck out of the jobber, and it is great. Figure Four ends it.

WWF WRESTLEMANIA
MARCH 31ST, 1985
MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
NEW YORK, NY

GENE SINGS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM!

The announce team of Gorilla and Jesse Ventura debuts to call the show.

Match #1: Tito Santana vs. The Executioner
Great 5 minute Tito showcase. The Executioner is Buddy Rose. His mask is askew, but it's still Buddy Rose. He takes huge bumps and leans into Tito's offense to make it looks great. Jesse officially dubs WrestleMania the Super Bowl of wrestling in this match, so that's notable. Tito hits the Flying Forearm and then puts on the Figure Four to win.
**

In the back, Gene talks to SD Jones and he says he's ready and that today is his day.

Match #2: King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart vs. SD Jones
This is some 10 seconds and Bundy wins with the Avalanche and a Big Splash.
45/poop

PRETAPES WITH GENE:
-Matt Borne says Ricky Steamboat is too nice
-Steamboat says he's come here to develop that mean streak, and he's going to do it against Matt Borne

Match #3: Ricky Steamboat vs. Matt Borne
Great 5 minutes. Borne got to throw around offense here, and it all looked fantastic. Great belly to belly. Flying Crossbody ends it.
**1/4

PRETAPES WITH GENE:
-David Sammartino doesn't get to have his interviews covered. Fuck him.

Match #4: Brutus Beefcake vs. David Sammartino
Johnny Valiant and Bruno Sammartino are there. This is fucking atrocious, and gets 13 goddamned minutes. Slow, lumbering. sloppy, no flow, etc. Double DQ. Fuck it.
3/4*

PRETAPES WITH GENE:
-Valentine and Jimmy say that Greg is the best IC Champion ever, and he says he is the true master of the Figure Four
-JYD speaks black

Match #5: Greg Valentine [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. The Junkyard Dog [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
Better than in Philly. Valentine has some awesome strikes and sells and does his damndest to make this not awful. Greg gets a pin with his feet on the ropes to steal it. The ref is told about it though and starts it over, but Valentine just walks out on the match anyways to retain.
*3/4

Match #6: The US Express [c] w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie [WWF Tag Team Championship]

Only 7 minutes, but quite good. The stuff with Sheik is amazing and he works like 80% of this, but Nikolai looks barely trained. Barry has a super fiery and awesome hot tag. It breaks down a bit, and behind the ref's back, Sheik hits Barry in the back of the head with the cane of Blassie, and Nikolai gets the win for the belts.
**1/2

In the back, Gene interviews the foreigners. Blassie says there's no controversy, and Sheik says he proved it to the New York City that their home country is the best. RUSSIA NUMBER ONE! USA NUMBER ONE!

Match #7: Andre The Giant vs. Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan [Andre's Career vs. $15,000 - Body Slam Challenge]
This is not bad! It's not amazing or anything, but they work the stip well and they keep it short and whatever. Andre slams Studd to win.
*3/4

Andre throws the money to the crowd, before Heenan grabs the bag and flees.

Match #9: Lelani Kai [c] w/ The Fabulous Moolah vs. Wendi Richter w/ Cyndi Lauper [WWF Womens Championship]
Who gives a shit? This is whatever. Richter wins. Moving on.
*

Billy Martin comes out to be guest ring announcer for the main event. He brings out guest timekeeper Liberace, who does the classic dance with the Rockettes, before then getting AIDS and dying. Martin then introduces guest outside referee, Mohammed Ali.

The bagpipe bland again plays Piper to the ring.

Match #9: Hulk Hogan/Mr. T w/ Jimmy Snuka vs. Roddy Piper/Paul Orndorff w/ Bob Orton
Really good for what it was. They do a great job planning the Mr. T spots so he looks good but it doesn't harm anyone in the match's rep, since he just does slams and basic shit like that. Piper takes some remarkable bumps before they take over on Hogan and then T. Things break down again at the end, and in the chaos, Orton accidentally hits Paul with the cast and Hogan gets the pin to the win.
**1/4

Piper and Orton walk out on Paul Orndorff. The faces celebrate.

Credits air to the theme from Beverly Hills Cop.

WWF Championship Wrestling
April 6th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The British Bulldogs vs. AJ Petruzzi/Matt Borne

Awesome debut squash for the Bulldogs. Lots of awesome throws and power offense from both Dynamite and DBS. They win with the Fireman's Carry/Diving Headbutt thing. I want to call it Ode to the Bulldogs, since that's what Strong and Evans called it, but they can't do an ode to themselves.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-They recap the end of the WrestleMania main event, and Gene says Orndorff was heard saying in the back that he guesses he has no friends at all

Match #2: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Billy Mac
Good Muraco squash. Tombstone gets the win.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Tito Santana comes on and says WrestleMania is over, and Valentine is still champion. He says he's not surprised, because he's a master of holding onto the belt without ever beating anyone. He says Valentine isn't the best IC Champion ever, and they're not finished yet.

Match #3: The Dream Team [Greg Valentine/Brutus Beefcake] w/ Johnny Valiant & Jimmy Hart vs. Aldo Marino/Jose Luis Rivera
Too much Brutus and not enough Greg. Still pretty good though. Greg has some awesome elbows and what not, and then Brutus wins with the High Knee.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Don Muraco comes out and says Fuji is busy with his harem in Arabia. He says since they're close, he wants to talk about disease and darkness, and says everyone in the WWF wants to avoid him and wants to avoid the darkness. He says untreated, the disease runs wild, and he has to cure the disease. Okay then.

Match #4: Ricky Steamboat vs. Jim Haley
Steamboat lets the jobber get in far too much offense before he starts doing his business. Flying Crossbody ends it.
*3/4

Clips air from backstage at WrestleMania, with Piper interviewing Big John Studd after his match. He says Andre claims he slammed him, but he just tripped and Andre got lucky. He says he stole that money, and says he's not finished with Andre, and he'll pay for trying to make a fool out of him.

Clips air of the last few minutes of the Tag Title match at WrestleMania, with the foreigners winning the titles.

Match #5: Tito Santana/The Junkyard Dog vs. Bob Wade/Rusty Brooks
This is bullshit, letting JYD piggyback off of Tito getting points for himself. Tito does most of the work, and out of 4 minutes, JYD is maybe in for 30 seconds. Tito gets the win with the Figure Four.
