WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling April 13th, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Doc Butler Good Hammer squash as usual. Figure Four does the deal. *1/2 WWF UPDATE: -Recap of Hillbilly Jim's injury -It will only be 4-6 months with him gone. ![]() Match #2: David Sammartino vs. Dave Barbie Short horrible squash The Charlotte Bobcats GENE INTERVIEW: -The British Bulldogs come on, and they introduce themselves. Davey says they're cousins and they do everything together. Dynamite says they know every hold and move, and they came for the belts. Match #3: King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Aldo Marino Good squash. Avalanche ends it. "King Kong Bundy isn't that muscular, but he's got a lot of bone density, and he also has a lot of muscle" - Bruno, delivering the good as always. Bundy insists on the five count. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Ricky Steamboat comes on and says he came to the WWF to fight the best talent in the world and says any time someone talks about wrestling, they're talking about the WWF. He talks about he and Snuka forming the South-Pacific Connection, which is a pretty huge waste of Steamboat. Match #4: Ricky Steamboat vs. Rusty Brooks Steamboat again gives him way too much before he gets the win with the Crossbody. *1/2 Clips air of Piper and Orton backstage after WrestleMania. Piper says neither of them have ever lost at anything in their lives, and he accepted this match because nobody can beat him. Little did he know that their partner had no guts, but all he's done who embarrassed himself. He says Mr. T was shaking like a mother elephant who just had a baby giraffe and Orton says if Paul would have just had the strength to hold on to Hogan or the intellect to cover Mr. T, he would have won, and Paul has a great body, but he's stupid. Piper says Mr. Wonderful is done riding on their reputations, same with Mr. T and Hogan, and says nobody wants to fight him. Clips air of Kai/Richter. Match #5: Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Joe Mirto/Jim Young Another unfortunately long Heenan Family squash. 1/2* |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling April 20th, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: The British Bulldogs vs. Steve Lombardi/Barry O Another great and long Bulldogs squash where they get to show off a lot. Ode to Ourselves gets the win for the Bulldogs. ** WWF UPDATE: -Highlights of King Kong Bundy Match #2: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. John Dee Acceptable Beefcake squash. High Knee ends it. *1/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Bob Orton comes in and says his cast is only a protective device. He says he has to wear it in the ring so he doesn't get hurt. Gene says it could be a weapon, but he says he'd never stoop so low, and to look that happened to Orndorff if he uses it. Gene asks about that and Bob says it's not his fault that Paul couldn't hold Hogan. Match #3: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. SD Jones/Mario Mancini FUCK YEAH. The Harts are way better squash guys as heels than as faces like when I watched 90-91. Nasty Anvil offense, and Bret has some awesome headbutts and elbows too. They win with the Hart Attack. ** GENE INTERVIEW: -Brutus Beefcake and Johnny Valiant say Jim had no business being in the ring, and he got hurt, and they hope he learned something Match #4: Don Muraco vs. Sal Gee Awesome Muraco squash. Great dropkick and some nice throws before the Tombston ends it. ** Video of Hillbilly Jim recovering at home. Match #5: Tito Santana/The Junkyard Dog vs. Mr. X/RT Reynolds JYD again piggybacks on Tito's performance to steal points. Tito does all the work, and then JYD gets in to hit the slam for the win. THUMP. *1/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -THE DON MURACO DONUTS PROMO! AMAZING! -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReNOZ9OWHkA |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Wrestling April 21st, 1985 The Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto, Ontario, Canada Match #1: Jim Neidhart w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Rick McGraw Good match to get over Anvil's power. I like how the opponents are building up in stature. First, Anvil beats a generic job guy, then he fights a strongman job guy. Anvil wins with a Running Powerslam. ** Match #2: Don Muraco vs. Steve Lombardi Took a little bit to get going, due to the first half having Lombardi offense, but once Muraco took over, it was awesome and violent. He wins with the Tombstone. *3/4 Match #3: Bret Hart w/ Jimmy Hart vs. George Wells This is actually quite a good mat based match. Wells has a lot of fun counters, and Bret is a good generic heel. All his stuff looks really crisp, as the nickname would indicate. Really great elbows from Bret. Wells has a solid comeback, and Bret counters his rollup into one of his own and he uses the ropes for the win. **1/4 Match #4: The British Bulldogs vs. Moondog Spot/Barry O GOOD LORD, THIS DID NOT NEED 16 MINUTES! That was just a terrible decision, since the jobbers obviously don't have the offensive arsenal or skill to go that long. The Bulldogs looked great on offense, but this was far too long. Davey launches Dynamite off the top to a Diving Headbutt on Barry to win. *3/4 Match #5: Tito Santana/Ricky Steamboat vs. The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant They might be fighting a team with that name, but holy shit, Steamboat and Tito is the 1980s babyface dream team. This was fucking awesome. Lots of fiery Steamboat and Tito stuff going on, and Beefcake was almost brought up to the level of the other three. Sort of a performance like Johnny Nitro in the best MNM tags, where he's clearly being guided, but does nothing wrong to ruin what the others are doing. Both Steamboat and Tito have awesome hot tags, AND TITO FINALLY GETS GREG ALONE! HE PUTS ON THE FIGURE FOUR, AND VALENTINE TAPS! YEAH! ***1/4 Match #6: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Paul Orndorff [WWF Championship] Decent stuff. Hogan is a piece of shit early on, attacking from behind and using eye gouges with no provocation. They do stuff for like 6-7 minutes, and it is fine enough. Nothing great about it, but nothing really wrong either. Hogan rolls through a Crossbody from Orndorff for the win. **1/4 Paul is mad about it, but he shakes Hogan's hand and leaves. |

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji [WWF Championship], MSG (April 22nd) Better than I expected, but still very flawed. Hogan has some pretty solid work on the arm of Muraco. He goes to the leg to escape the work, but disappointingly forgets entirely about his arm. Good leg work though. And of course, what does Hogan sell? NOT A GOD DAMN THING. They brawl on the floor and Muraco slides in at 10 to win by count-out. **1/2 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling April 27th, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: Tito Santana/The Junkyard Dog vs. Mr. X/Charlie Fulton Another match with JYD piggybacking off of Tito's work. Figure Four does the deed. *1/4 WWF UPDATE: -Ricky Steamboat clips Match #2: Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Jim Young Another solid Brutus squash. High Knee ends it. *1/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Gene says it's Hogan/Snuka vs. Piper/Orton at Boston Garden on 5/18, and these shows are finally getting taped! -Hogan comes on and says it was supposed to be he and Piper in a title match, but he had it turned to a tag match so Orton couldn't interfere. But you countered his interference at WrestleMania when it was 2 on 1 at the end. This is an excuse for him to duck Piper. Hogan says he got Snuka because he wants Piper just as much as he does. He says they're coming to Boston to fight, and they want to make sure Piper never gets a title shot. Wait, what? That's a little much. Match #3: The US Express vs. Moondog Spot/Bob Wade Solid USX squash. Barry beats Wade with the Bulldog. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -He announces Tito vs. Beefcake for 5/18 -Tito Santana comes on and says he knows Beefcake and Valentine have been teaming a lot, and he guesses Valentine is throwing his new partner as a roadblock too, but he's said time and time again that he'll beat whoever he has to beat to get a title match against Valentine, and this isn't over by a long shot Match #4: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Salvatore Bellomo Good 3 minutes. Muraco's karate thrusts are awesome. Tombstone ends it. *1/2 It is now time for Piper's Pit, which he also calls The Winner's Circle, inspiring another great talk show, and his guest is Bobby Heenan! Piper says Heenan is the greatest manager he's ever seen and Heenan brags about what he's done with Studd and Patera, and says that ingrate Paul Orndorff has fired him! Piper says he can't do that, and he's a coward anyways. Heenan says he put a smear on his reputation, and he's not getting away with it. Match #5: David Sammartino vs. Steve Lombardi Awful Whale dick Match #6: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff/George Steele w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Jose Luis Rivera/Tony Garea/Ron Dee This was mostly Sheiky baby, so it was good. Steele gets in at the end to do the Flying Hammerlock to win. *1/2 |

The US Express vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Philadelphia (April 27th) This went 15 minutes, and 7 minutes at Mania is much more suited to the skill levels of Rotunda and Nikolai, who worked most of this. As a result, it was pretty lumbering and slow. Rotundo is a really horrible hot tag compared to Barry, and he got Nikolai with a shoddy schoolboy to win. *3/4 |

THANK GOD! Match #1: Ricky Steamboat vs. Dave Barbie Typical solid Steamboat squash. Crossbody does the deal. *1/2 WWF UPDATE: -Greg Valentine clips Match #2: King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Mario Mancini Another good Bundy squash. Some awesome body shots with his fists and knees. He gets the win after the Avalanche and a Big Splash. *1/4 FAGGOT FREDDIE INTERVIEWS: -Piper and Orton come in. Piper says he's tired of Snuka crying about the coconut and the chair, and says it's tough being a bodyguard for Piper, and he has a broken arm, but he's not crying and he's right back in the arm. Piper says he knows Hogan brought Snuka in to stand in front of him and take a loss so he can delay finally giving him his rematch Match #3: Paul Orndorff vs. Charlie Fulton Heenan comes out to watch, and Paul keeps yelling at him that he's fired. Good Paul squash. Not as brutal and violent as some of his heel squashes, but whatever. Piledriver ends it. *1/2 HORRIBLE FAGGOT FREDDIE MARTIN INTERVIEWS: -Greg Valentine comes in and he says JYD is getting ONE more chance in Boston. He says he survived WrestleMania, and he survived Tito and JYD's scheme to try and get the belt off of him, and he calls JYD a nasty disgusting black man, and says he'll slap him again and send him back to shining shoes. They play him out to the sounds of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" Match #4: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jim Powers/Mike Londos Another awesome HF squash. Lots of nasty elbows from Bret and throws from Anvil. Hart Attack gets the pin. ** It is time for Piper's Pit, and he brings on The US Express. He says he's not used to having losers here in the Winner's Circle. He says to face the facts that they lost, and he gives them tissues if they want to cry. He says he's never lost at anything, and Rotundo says they only belt he's wearing is the one holding up his skirt. Piper holds Ace back and says he has nothing to fear from two losers, and Piper says he's never lost a title, and they leave. Match #4: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Joe Mirto You can tell a guy is getting a program with Hogan when he's doing squashes this frequently. Really awesome and violent Muraco squash. Whopping the jobber with his sweatshirt, karate strikes, knees, etc. He wins with the Tombstone. ** Match #5: The British Bulldogs vs. Rusty Brooks/AJ Petruzzi They get 5 minutes now, and the Bulldogs get to carry the jobbers through matwork before they start running through offense on them. They get the win with the Rocket Launcher Diving Headbutt. ** |

Good, not great. Rotundo wins with the Airplane Spin. *1/4 WWF UPDATE: -Clips of the British Bulldogs Match #2: Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Joe Black Separated from Studd, Patera puts on a good squash. Full Nelson does the job. *1/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Tito Santana comes in, and he wishes his mother a happy Mother's Day tomorrow. He says Brutus is a fruitcake, and Boston is his lucky town. He says Brutus is strong, but he's nowhere near as fast as he is. Gene asks about Valentine/JYD, and Tito says he's going to make sure that match ends fairly. Match #3: Jesse Ventura vs. Aldo Marino AWFUL. 45/poop Ventura has a confrontation with Sammartino as he leaves. NO. NOOOOOOO. NOPE. GENE INTERVIEWS: -JYD comes in -THUMP -JYD hypes every match except for his own. Exceptional work. Match #4: The Dream Team w/ Jimmy Hart & Johnny Valiant vs. SD Jones/Paul Roma Good squash. Figure Four makes that faggot Roma tap. *1/2 It is time for Piper's Pit, and his guest is Ricky Steamboat. He congratulates him on his success and says he hasn't lost a match yet. He calls Ricky a cheater for using martial arts and Ricky says he's sorry he feels that way and calls him Rodney. Roddy says his name is Roderick, which means "conqueror". Piper tells him not to play big shot, and says his kung fu is cheating and he'll prove it if they get in the ring. Steamboat takes off his jacket to fight, but Piper and Ace leave. WWF MAGAZINE: COVERING WRESTLEMANIA! Match #5: Tito Santana/The Junkyard Dog/Pedro Morales vs. Doc Butler/Mike Powers/Johnny Rodz Tito now has to carry two men. He does it, but just barely. Pedro is awful, but he's a fucking legend I guess, so he gets to win with a really shitty Boston Crab. * |

Lou Albano vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff/George Steele w/ Freddie Blassie Solid 6 minutes. Steamboat and Barry have great babyface fire, and Sheik bumps around well. Steele gets in at the end, pretty much only for Barry to roll him up for the win. **1/4 Sheik and Nikolai attack Steele post-match, but he runs them off, and Capt. Lou Albano is able to calm him down, since he used to manage him. It is now time for an in-ring Piper's Pit, and his guest is Paul Orndorff. He turns face, and Mr. T helps him fight off Piper and Bob. I'm lazy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6SK5OftU9s In the back, Gene interviews Hulk Hogan, and he says that was typical of those dudes, brother. He dedicates his match tonight to his mother, and he's going to see how bad Orton's arm is tonight. Gene asks about Orndorff and he says he wishes him the best in his change of heart, and he can dig it. WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE HULKSTER RUNS WILD ON YOU, DADDY? Match #2: Hulk Hogan [c] w/ Mr. T vs. Bob Orton w/ Roddy Piper [WWF Championship] Good 7 minutes. Both men look good on offense. They do stuff, and Hogan makes his comeback. He gets the Legdrop, but Piper attacks Hogan for the DQ. **1/4 They then attack Mr. T and Hogan, but Paul Orndorff runs out for the save. He fights them off, and then celebrates with Hogan and T. Interview with Lauper and Richter. Don't give a shit! Match #3: Wendi Richter [c] vs. The Fabulous Moolah [WWF Womens Championship] This was short and not good. Richter wins. 1/2* Match #4: The Junkyard Dog w/ The Junkyard Mom vs. Pete Doherty Usual shitty JYD squash. MOM THUMP |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling May 18th, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: Big John Studd/Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Paul Roma/Jose Luis Rivera Usual lame Heenan Family squash, due to Studd being Studd. Patera gets in briefly at the end, and he makes Jose tap to the Swinging Full Nelson. 1/2* They come up to the stage by the announce table post-match, and Vince interviews them. Heenan has a briefcase with him, and he opens it to reveal a lot of cash. He says he wants to make sure Paul Orndorff pays for embarrassing him a few weeks ago, and he's offering $25,000 to anyone who can take Paul Orndorff out of professional wrestling for good! WWF UPDATE: -Clips of Sheiky baby and Volkoff -Lord Alfred Hayes says they have yet to defend their titles Match #2: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Aldo Marino Muraco works on the knee all match, which is interesting. Weird strategy, as he then randomly gives it up and wins with the Tombstone. *3/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Plugs the Boston Garden show tonight -Piper and Orton come on. Piper says he just won't be able to make it to Boston tonight, and he brings on Mr. Fuji and says he's brokered a deal with someone else who has a problem with Hulk Hogan, and Don Muraco will be taking his place in that match. Muraco comes in and says anywhere there's a war, he is happy to enlist. Match #3: David Sammartino vs. Charlie Fulton The worst -***** GENE INTERVIEWS: -Greg Valentine and Jimmy Hart come on. Hart says JYD hit him at WrestleMania when he was just standing there. Valentine says he's sick of this nasty black man and his horrible song. He says he's tired of him, and he's almost as tired of him as he is of Tito Santana, who's going to get destroyed by his friend Beefcake tonight. Match #4: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Rick McGraw/Jim Young Good stuff. The worst Foundation squash yet, as they let McGraw get in too much on the mat before they won. Hart Attack obviously did the trick. *3/4 They re-air Piper's Put from SNME. Match #5: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Sal Gee/Mario Mancini Good work here by the Sheik. Nikolai still blew, but Sheik had some great throws, and won with the Camel Clutch. *1/4 |

Tito Santana vs. Brutus Beefcake w/ Johnny Valiant, Boston (May 18th) This is fine enough. Tito has good matwork, and then bumps and sells big for Brother Bruti. Fiery Tito comebacks and hope spots. They fight on the floor, and Tito gets the best of it. He rolls back in, and Brutus decides to leave instead, so Tito wins by count out. **1/4 Greg Valentine [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. The Junkyard Dog [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Boston (May 18th) This is their best match yet, merely for having the least amount of stalling and the most Valentine offense. He works the arm and it's great stuff, but JYD refuses to sell it at all. JYD tries the slam, BUT VALENTINE ROLLS THROUGH WITH A CRADLE TO WIN! FUCK YOU JYD! ** Hulk Hogan/Jimmy Snuka vs. Don Muraco/Bob Orton w/ Mr. Fuji, Boston (May 18th) This is the best match of the night. Good work on Bob's arm, and then a quality control seg on Hogan. Snuka has an awesome hot tag, and this comes SO close to being great. Snuka gets Muraco with the Crossbody off the top, but as they fall, Orton hits him with the cast in the face! He bleeds a ton, and it stains the cast. They work on it, and Hogan gets back in. Muraco and Ace double team him though, and the idiot ref throws it out as a DQ. **3/4 |

The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff [c] vs. The US Express, MSG (May 20th) Sheik carries the kids through matwork early on, before then bumping a lot. This has a much better middle than the Philadelphia match from April, so it is probably their best match together. Sheik gets busted open on Windham's hot tag, and it's a gusher. They work on it and it turns into this awesome brawl, before the champions bail out and they retain the belts despite losing by count-out. **3/4 |

Santana breaks out the Flying Forearm for the win this time. *3/4 WWF UPDATE: -Highlights air of the USX/Steamboat vs. Foreigners/Steel match from SNME Match #2: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jim Landos Typical solid Hammer stuff here. Could have used more of the nasty elbows and knees though. He wins with the Figure Four. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Gene says next time in Boston, it's Hogan/Studd for the WWF Title -Hogan says he can't wait to slam Big John Studd, and his first priority is the belt, but the $15,000 would be nice. Wait, what? That's still going on? Match #3: Pedro Morales vs. Mr. X This blew. Lots of boring average matwork, before Pedro wins with the Boston Crab. 1/2* GENE INTERVIEWS: -He is with Sheik and Nikolai and says on 6/22 in Boston, they have to fight the US Express. Nikolai says they don't deserve a third match. Sheik speaks in Arabic for a while and Gene tries to get him to stop and he tells Gene to learn Persian and keep up. He says Blassie told him to break their backs and humble them, and then to send fat Lou Albano back to Hollywood Match #4: Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Gary Starr Decent Patera squash. He wins with the Swinging Full Nelson. * It is time for Piper's Pit and he brings on his guests, Nikolai Volkoff, The Iron Sheik, and Freddie Blassie. Piper says they deserve money for being in Cyndi Lauper's stupid video for that awful song, and Blassie says he set it up and immediately brought Piper on because he's the best, and they had no idea that broad would ruin it. Sheik says those jabronis took advantage of them. Music starts to play them out, and Sheik yells that Lauper is either a punk or a cunt, I can't tell which. I want to assume cunt. Match #5: Jimmy Snuka vs. AJ Petruzzi Acceptable Snuka squash. Not a lot going on, and the Superfly Splash gets the duke. *1/4 |

The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff [c] vs. The US Express [WWF Tag Team Championship - Two Referees], Toronto (May 26th) Sheik changed up the matwork at the beginning now, and it (the matwork) went a little longer than in MSG, so this seems like it could be their best match yet, but it was not to be. They play well on the two refs gimmick as they can't use their cheating as much. Sheiky baby once again carried the load on the control seg with some awesome stuff. They have the same ending as the MSG match with the champions bailing, but without the big Sheik bladejob and chaotic brawl that made it so great in MSG. **1/2 |

Lou Albano vs. Johnny Rodz/The Axe The Smasher is not with us, unfortunately. Usual USX fare, but only about 90 seconds this time. *1/4 WWF UPDATE: -Recap of Paul Orndorff's problems since WrestleMania. Match #2: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Mario Mancini Valentine beats the shit out of him for under 2 minutes. Wins with the Figure Four. *3/4 FAGGOT FREDDIE INTERVIEWS: -Hulk Hogan comes on brother, and talks about Big John Studd Match #3: Tony Atlas/George Wells vs. Terry Gibbs/Doc Butler I enjoy Wells, but Atlas worked most of this, and it was horrible. Gorilla Press Slam ends it. 1/2* HIDEOUS HORRIBLE FUCKING CRETIN FREDDIE INTERVIEWS: -Heenan comes on. He says they're going to make history on the 22nd, and people will stop talking about Larry Bird, they'll be talking about Big John Studd. He comes on and says he already drove Andre the Giant out of wrestling, since nobody's seen him since WrestleMania. He says he has one other goal, and he wants that gold belt. Match #4: Paul Orndorff vs. Barry O Bobby Heenan comes out to watch. Paul is OOOOOOOOOVER. He still has a lot of brutal elbows here, and it's great. Paul wins with the Piledriver. *3/4 It is time for Piper's Pit. He says Orndorff stinks, but he brings out his guest, Jesse Ventura. He says he's what rock and roll should be, he's a real man. Jesse says he believes Piper should be World Champion after watching him beat up two men by himself at WrestleMania. They all express interest in going after the bounty, and Piper says maybe they can split it up three ways. Piper then says he wants to show Paul Orndorff's favorite hold, and he lies down on the floor as Jesse counts to three. Match #5: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. SD Jones/Joe Mirto Great Foundation squash, once again. Brutal Anvil throws and Bret strikes. Hart Attack ends it. *3/4 Match #6: Hulk Hogan vs. Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan & Big John Studd Hogan on weekly TV! This is pretty rare. This is an acceptable 3 minutes. Mostly Hogan stuff, and then Studd gets in and attacks Hogan for the DQ. *3/4 They beat him down and Studd gets out the scissors to cut his hair too, BUT PAUL ORNDORFF RUNS OUT TO SAVE! YEAH! He and Hogan run off the heels, and they shake hands and pose together. |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling June 8th, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Sal Gee/Jose Luis Rivera About what you would expect here. Sheiky baby wins with the Camel Clutch. *1/4 Match #2: George Steele w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Mike Powers Decent squash. Flying Hammerlock ends it. * GENE INTERVIEWS: -Albano comes in and says his men will finally win the titles back on the 22nd in Boston. Gene asks about George Steele, and he brings him on. He says he's taken him to a doctor for speech therapy and shock treatment, and Steele says that Lou says relax. Frankie said that, you big stupid fuck. Match #3: The Spoiler w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Joe Mirto Spoiler is a terrible squash guy. He wins with a mediocre Claw. 1/4* GENE INTERVIEWS: -Sheik, Volkoff, and Blassie come on. Nikolai asks how many times they have to beat these kids before they get up, and says they only had one shot, but they've had way more. Sheik says comrade Volkoff had it right, and that fat short slob Lou Albano needs to be HUMBLED. Match #4: David Sammartino vs. The Axe Awful. 45/dog shit It is time for Piper's Pit. Orton is there, but Heenan is filling in for Roddy Piper, who is on vacation. He brings out his guest, Tito Santana. He says he doesn't like him, but he is skilled, and says maybe he's interested in picking up that $25,000 bounty. Tito says he's not interested, and says he doesn't think anyone can get the job done. Heenan says that's why he's a FORMER Champion, because he thinks like a loser. Match #5: The Missing Link w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Aldo Marino Missing Link uses all headbutt related offense, so that's fucking awesome, at least for the first time. He wins with a Diving Headbutt. ** Match #6: Ricky Steamboat vs. Mr. X They get 4-5 minutes now, so Ricky is pretty fucking great here. Lots of chops and karate bullshit before he wins with the Flying Crossbody. ** |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling June 15th, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: Tito Santana vs. Dave Barbie Awesome Tito squash. Barbie is a good strongman jobber, who loses because Tito works on his arms to neutralize the power. He wins with the Flying Forearm. ** WWF UPDATE: -Jesse Ventura trying to fight Bruno Match #2: B. Brian Blair vs. Steve Lombardi FUCK YEAH BBB! Lots of awesome matwork here, and he wins with an Abdominal Stretch Cradle. ** SOME OTHER DUDE INTERVIEWS: -I'll be honest, I'm not going to review this Boston show, since the only things from it online are Hogan/Studd and Valentine/JYD IV. Yeah. -JYD comes on and speaks incoherently. THUMP? Match #3: Ricky Steamboat vs. Rene Goulet Good placement not having Ricky go before Blair or Tito, since they work slightly different but mostly the same style of squashes, and Ricky has the most energy, so he'd blow them away if he went first. Awesome karate shit, and he gets the Flying Crossbody to win. ** INTERVIEWS: -Blassie comes in and says the US Express has two chances of getting the titles back, and that's slim and none. He also says JYD has no chance against his good friend Greg Valentine. Match #4: Paul Orndorff vs. AJ Petruzzi Usual good stuff. Piledriver does the deal. *3/4 It is now time for Piper's Pit, and Heenan continues to fill in for Piper. Orton is in the background, and Missing Link walks around the set. Heenan asks about Orton's new Rolex, and he says Roddy gave it to him, so he'd be extra careful minding the shop while he's gone. Heenan then introduces his newest client, The Missing Link, and he says he's brought him in with the express purpose of taking Paul Orndorff out of wrestling to get the bounty, and that means he gets a cut too! Match #5: The Dream Team w/ Jimmy Hart & Johnny Valiant vs. Paul Roma/Mario Mancini Awesome squash when Valentine was in, due to Valentine really enjoying elbowing Paul Roma full force in the face. Brutus was fine, but less willing to maul jobbers, which makes him a lesser wrestler in my eyes. Greg got back in to put on the Figure Four for the win. *3/4 |

Randy Savage vs. Rick McGraw, MSG (June 21st) ** Greg Valentine [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship], MSG (June 21st) So, this fucking ruled. Great matwork early on, mixed in with energetic Steamboat flurries. Great subtle story with Greg being used to fighting someone with unfocused energy like JYD or someone who stays calm all the time and waits for the end to use all his energy in flurries, but he's not ready for someone like Steamboat, who's constantly energetic in everything he does. He has to just step back and let the energy work against Ricky, when he gets the knees up on a splash. Not the focused control seg you'd want on Steamboat, but it was great. AMAZING slugfest of a finishing run. Steamboat hits the Enzuiguri, but Greg falls to the floor and is counted out. ***1/4 Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji [WWF Championship - Steel Cage Match], MSG (June 21st) This is probably the best match they'll have against each other, due to the cage adding a good deal. Basic cage stuff. They bleed and punch and headbutt each other. Hogan has a great comeback, and hits Muraco with a Big Boot. He falls back into the ropes and gets his head caught in between the top and middle ropes, Foley-style. Hogan then walks out the door to win. **1/2 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: Greg Valentine, Since 9/24/1984 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff, Since 3/31/1985 WWF Championship Wrestling June 22nd, 1985 Poughkeepsie, NY Match #1: Paul Orndorff vs. Matt Borne Short squash, unfortunately. Borne took big bumps, and Paul wins with the Piledriver. *1/4 Bobby Heenan comes out to the entrance to watch, and Paul challenges him to fight. WWF UPDATE: -TERRY FUNK IS COMING! -He says all those muscles don't mean a damn thing and he'll prove it Match #2: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tony Garea/Jim Powers Usual awesome Foundation squash. The Hart Attack ends the match. ** FAGGOT FREDDIE INTERVIEWS: -Hogan says he's a little busted up from the cage in New York City, but if the people can dig it, so can he, and he's gonna slam Big John Studd tonight, brother, and he's gonna be the first man to get the job done, dude. What the fuck? Did you not see Andre do it at Mania? No wonder he turned on you, you horrible friend. Match #3: The Missing Link w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Gary Starr Link's offense is no longer all head-related, so this isn't a perfect squash. Stil lvery good. *3/4 SUB-GOGZIAN ASSHOLE FREDDIE MARTIN INTERVIEWS: -Big John Studd says he's the uncrowned champion since Hogan can't beat him, and has never been able to beat him. He says he got rid of Andre and took a trophy in his hair, and now he's gonna get rid of the other giant, Hulk Hogan, and he's gonna take his title as a trophy Match #4: Tony Atlas/Ivan Putski vs. Doc Butler/AJ Petruzzi Horrible squash once again. 45/poop Piper's Pit with Bobby Heenan is up now. His guest is Big John Studd, and they basically say the same things as in the local pretape. Not the best scheduling. Match #5: Ricky Steamboat vs. Johnny Rodz Another good Steamboat squash. Not as great as his last one, but still really awesome. Flying Crossbody ends it. *3/4 WRESTLEMANIA ON VHS! Match #6: Mike Rotundo vs. The Iron Sheik The managers are at ringside. This is only 4 minutes, but I've missed Sheiky baby in singles matches. Great throws as usual. The future tax collecting boat captain is making a comeback, and Nikolai Volkoff comes out to attack him for the DQ. *3/4 They beat on him, and Vince says Windham is not here tonight. Albano runs to the back, and he brings George "The Animal" Steele out with a chair, and he runs off the tag champions. |
