The Master and Ruler Of The World

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Tito Santana, Since 7/6/1985
WWF Tag Team Champions: The Dream Team, Since 8/24/1985

WWF Championship Wrestling
December 28th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The Junkyard Dog/Danny Spivey vs. Steve Lombardi/Gino Carabello

Way way too much JYD for 3 minutes. Spivey wins with a Bulldog.
THUMP.

WWF UPDATE:
-Footage airs of Paul using the cast

Match #2: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Gary Starr
Usually enjoyable Muraco squash, although not his best work. He wins with the Tombstone.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Muraco says he's had a few little injuries in 1985, but he's endured Hulk Hogan and Ricky Steamboat and those disgusting Hillbillies, who he hasn't fought yet, but their smell is worse than Hogan and Ricky's wrestling skill could ever be. He says he also helped Gene through his divorce this year, and also into it, but that's not important. Muraco then wishes everyone a happy new year

Match #3: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales vs. Mr. X/Barry O
Tito gets just enough time here to make this not horrible entirely. Flying Forearm gets the win.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Bruno still talks. Why is he getting promo time every single week?

Match #4: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Sal Gee/Tony Mateo
Another good HF squash. During this, Vince announces Volkoff/Kirscher at SNME on January 4th, and he says Volkoff wants a scientific match. Anyways, the Harts win with the Hart Attack.
*3/4

It is now time for Piper's Pit. He has Mad Dog Vachon with him, and Piper asks for his predictions for 1986, especially when it comes to the WWF Title. Vachon says with all due respect to everyone else, he doesn't think Hulk Hogan will lose the title in 1986, and Piper calls him a crazy old man and storms off.

Match #5: Paul Orndorff vs. Butcher Vachon
Your usual inoffensive Orndorff squash. Piledriver ends the match.
*1/2

"Land of 1000 Dances" airs again.

Match #6: King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jose Luis Rivera/SD Jones
There was enough cool Bundy stuff in here to make it good. Bundy beats JLR with the Avalanche and a Big Splash.
*1/4

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth [WWF Championship], MSG (December 30th)
Feels like these two are really getting a nice rhythm going together. It's a very typical first match in the series though, they do a lot more basic stuff while teasing the potential of a longer match, with a finish that promises to deliver said match. Hogan controls a lot, some amazing Savage bumping. Savage controls a bit, and then a screwy finish with Savage hitting Hogan with the belt on the floor and winning by count out.

2010: Dolph Ziggler

The Intercontinental Champion Theory really dictates that this should go to Greg Valentine or Tito. Valentine did a lot more with the belt than Tito did, since they seemed to not do anything with Tito until the last two months of the year. But then Valentine got bogged down in The Dream Team, who also rarely got on tape. As this happened, Ricky Steamboat made a nice little run due to the feud with Muraco and getting on a TV a lot, and Savage also made a run, but he was unable to make up for missing the first half of the year or so.

AND YOUR WINNER IS...
