CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA Two Eyebrows Are Better Than One January 27th, 2008 Hellertown Star Lanes Hellertown, PA Match #1: Up in Smoke vs. UltraMantis Black/Crossbones Good match of speed against power and outright cheating. Cloudy was once again an amazing face in peril and took some awesome bumps. Finishing run was a little bit sloppy, but they still had some cool ideas. Mantis beats Cloudy with the Praying Mantis Bomb, and the Order gets a point! **3/4 Match #2: Moravian Greyhound vs. Zombie Plantain vs. Hydra It is Hydra fighting a college mascot and an undead plant. Mantis helps Hydra win with voodoo. CHIKARA. Match #3: Vin Gerard vs. Worker Ant Vin is the former Equinox, and he isn't given entrance music or a real entrance, and comes out from the back door. Gerard gets the jump when he throws his jacket at Worker. This is a great showcase for Vin, while also making Worker look great. Vin looks good on offense and refuses to use any lucha stuff. Vin wins with a great looking STF. **3/4 Match #4: Sara Del Rey vs. Kylie Pierce Solid SDR showcase, I guess. Royal Butterfly gets the win. *3/4 Match #5: Eddie Kingston vs. Shane Storm This is awesome, and probably Shane's best singles match ever. King does his usual thing, but then Storm's nose is bloodied it soaks through his mask. Picks up a lot here, since it gives King a target to really get brutal and violent on. Big awesome finishing run of nasty strikes from King and headdrops from both guys. King gets a totally ridiculous Backfist to the Future for the win. ***1/2 Match #6: Jimmy Olsen w/ Colin Olsen vs. Sabian Colin has begun his squash match career, so he is all taped up here. Jimmy says he fell down the stairs, unaware of what's happened. This is a fine enough back and forth match. Nothing really special though. Sabian wins with a Flying Double Stomp to the head. **1/2 Match #7: Team F.I.S.T. vs. Fire Ant/Soldier Ant These teams will go on to have better matches against each other, but this was a great first match. Colony shines early on, and then FIST has a great control seg on Soldier. Fire Ant has a fiery hot tag, obviously, and then the finishing run is great. Lots of big offense and nearfalls, without anything too contrived or any kickout that is too ridiculous. Fire gets Akuma with a Snap Victory Roll for the win and kind of an upset. ***1/4 Match #8: Hallowicked vs. Larry Sweeney Good stuff. Basic work with Sweeney working on the knee, and Hallowicked's selling was great. He sucks it up and gets a Yakuza Kick, followed by a one legged Jackknife Pin for the win. *** Match #9: Claudio Castagnoli/Lince Dorado/Ophidian vs. Mike Quackenbush/Tim Donst/Amasis [Trios Incrediblas!] Great stuff. The match is mostly face/face exchanges, so you get a lot of great matwork and lucha. Especially with Quack and Claudio. Each team has a nice control seg, but the finishing run is just a little long. Claudio gets Amasis with the Ricola Bomb for the win. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA King of Trios 2008 Night One February 29th, 2008 The New Alhambra Arena Philadelphia, PA In the back, Team ROH of Shane Hagadorn, Rhett Titus, and SUGARFOOT cut a promo. Shane says they come from the greatest promotion on Earth, and they're used to fighting real wrestlers, not goats and ants, and it's a shoe in that they'll win tonight, and in the finals in two days. Match #1: Las Chivas vs. Shane Hagadorn/Rhett Titus/Alex Payne [1st Round] There were a ridiculous number of teams in 2008, and it makes the first two nights a little lackluster due to some obvious filler teams and matches. This is one of them. The Chivas fucking blow, as do the ROH kids. Goes 10 minutes, sucks. Chivas get the win. *1/2 Match #2: The Colony vs. Mototsugu Shimizu/Go/Michael Nakazawa [1st Round] This on the other hand, is awesome. The Japanese guys are generally solid, and the Colony continues to be on a huge roll. After their amazing 2007, they almost have to win this tournament or lose a ton of momentum. Very fun sprint of a match, with a few nice comedy bits early on. Fire Ant has a great hot tag and The Colony wins with the Voltron Splash thing. **3/4 Match #3: UltraMantis Black/Crossbones/Hydra vs. The Sea Amigos [1st Round] The Sea Amigos are weird monsters from Kaiju. UMB brings out his friend DR. CUBE~ from Kaiju, who is an evil doctor with a cube for a head. Lots of totally insane comedy that is basically pure CHIKARA. UMB uses tartar sauce as a weapon and uses the Praying Mantis Bomb on one of them for the win. CHIKARA. Match #4: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm/Jorge Rivera vs. The Osirian Portal/FUCKING MECHA MUMMY Jorge Rivera is the now unmasked Skayde. This is just so much fun. Awesome lucha and matwork, led by Quack and Skayde. Good bullshit with Mecha Mummy being a goddamned robot and harder to beat than normal humans. Quack ends up beating Ophidian with the QD2. **3/4 It was supposed to be The Olsen Twins and Brodie Lee in a match next, but Colin Olsen is obviously not there, having now actually been signed by WWE. Jimmy doesn't know where he is, and Brodie is upset. Jimmy says he called Colin, and Brodie says he's not coming. Leonard F. Chikarason draws names out of a hat. They draw Johnny Kashmere, and Bryce runs to the bathroom to look for him. AMAZING! They end up getting Retail Dragon. Brodie tells him to stay on the apron and if he screws it up, he'll kill him.Match #5: Up in Smoke/m.c. KZ vs. Brodie Lee/Jimmy Olsen/Retail Dragon [1st Round] KZ is from Dragon Gate and is generally fine. This is MOTN so far, due to the awesome Up in Smoke/Olsen chemistry. Good highspots, and then Cloudy got isolated. He is once again the best face in peril in CHIKARA. Big finishing run too. Retail gets beat after the Thunder and Lightning, followed by a Frog Splash from KZ. *** Brodie lays out Retail post-match, as promised. Match #6: Martin Stone/Sha Samuels/Terry Frazier vs. Drake Younger/Dustin Lee/Skotty Vortekz [1st Round] The Stone team is from IPW:UK in Britain, and they are quite impressive. They all have great strikes and are fantastic scumbag shit talking heels. The other team isn't much, so this is basically just a showcase for the British guys before their more important match later on. **1/4 Match #7: The Colony vs. Las Chivas [2nd Round] The Colony does a good job of getting something passable out of the fucking goats. Went a little long in the middle, but mostly good stuff. Fire wins with a Super Beach Break. **1/2 Match #8: Eddie Kingston/Joker/Ruckus vs. UltraMantis Black/Crossbones/Hydra [2nd Round] BABYFACE ORDER! AWESOME! This was a ton of fun, with BLK-OUT totally treating Hydra like a piece of shit, and UMB and Crossbones being all fiery and shit. Joker ends up just destroying Hydra with the Joker Driver (Rubik's Cube) for the win. **3/4 Match #9: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm/Jorge Rivera vs. Up in Smoke/m.c. KZ [2nd Round] Really fun face/face stuff. Lots of fancy lucha and high flying and what not. Skayde rolls up KZ with a fancy lucha pin for the win. *** Match #10: Incoherence/Helios vs. Martin Stone/Sha Samuels/Terry Frazier Real good basic heel/face match. The heels kept it simple and brutal, and the faces all had really dynamic and cool looking offense as a contrast to that. Helios is a fine face in peril, and Hallowicked has a really great hot tag. Big finishing run of cool offense by the faces and cheating and what not by the heels. Hallowicked wins with the CHIKARA Special. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA King of Trios 2008 Night Two March 1st, 2008 Philadelphia, PA I watched like 75% of this show last night, and when my computer updated, it didn't save this review. Oh well. Not a super important show or anything. FIRST ROUND: MIYAWAKI/KUDO/SUSUMU vs. The Southern Saints: ** The Soul Touchaz [Willie Richardson/Acid Jaz/Marshe Rockett] vs. Super Xtremo/Kobra Kai/Combra Canadianese: **1/4 Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. Sara Del Rey/Bobby Dempsey/Tank Toland: **1/2 Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke vs. Tim Donst/Drew Gulak/Andy Sumner: **1/4 El Generico/Super Smash Bros. vs. Arik Cannon/North Star Express: ***1/4 Lince Dorado/El Pantera/Incognito vs. Los Ice Creams/FUCKING GLACIER: **1/4 SECOND ROUND: MIYAWAKI/KUDO/SUSUMU vs. AkuA/The Immortals: *3/4 Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. Da Soul Touchaz: *** Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke vs. Demolition/One Man Gang: **1/4 El Generico/Super Smash Bros vs. Lince Dorado/El Pantera/Incognito: **3/4 YOUR QUARTERFINAL BRACKET FOR NIGHT THREE: Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. The Colony Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm/Jorge Rivera vs. Lince Dorado/El Pantera/Incognito BLK-OUT vs. MIYAWAKI/KUDO/SUSUMU Incoherence/Helios vs. Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA KING OF TRIOS 2008 NIGHT THREE March 2nd, 2008 Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. The Colony [Quarterfinals] Very enjoyable opener. They continue to have great chemistry. Good rudo control seg, and then a really awesome finishing run. Fire Ant and Akuma fuck up a Super Reverse Huracanrana, which kind of slows them down, but they pick it back up again by the end. The Ant Hill beats Gran Akuma. *** Vin Gerard is seen watching in the crowd. Match #2: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm/Jorge Rivera vs. Lince Dorado/El Pantera/Incognito [Quarterfinals] Another super fun lucha showcase. Incognito and Storm are the obvious weak links, but unless they're against each other, the leaders of the teams do a good job guiding them. Skayde vs. Pantera is really cool to see. Two masters of the style going at it on the mat. They work much better in a tag or trios match against each other than in a singles match, but whatever. Pantera rolls up Quack to win. *** Post-match, Quack gets on the mic. He says he and Pantera are 1-1 now, and he challenges him to a rubber match next month, and he accepts. Match #3: Eddie Kingston/Joker/Ruckus vs. MIYAWAKI/KUDO/SUSUMU [Quarterfinals] This starts slow, but really gets going by the end. Lots of cool spots and nasty strikes from King, MIYAWAKI, and KUDO. Kingston beats SUSUMU with the Backfist to the Future. *** Match #4: Incoherence/Helios vs. Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke [Quarterfinals] Once again, a perfect contrast of old school basic heel work against flashier stuff. Helios beats Sweeney with the 630 after miscommunication between Sweeney and Hawke. *** The heels argue post-match. Match #5: Tag Team Gauntlet This is not going to be covered in detail like in 2007. I did that there because 2007's Gauntlet is one of my favorite ones of that match type ever, along with the J-Day 2001 gauntlet. SSB have some cool stuff here, but otherwise, it's average stuff for a while. Crossbones and Hydra think they've won, BUT FUCKING DEMOLITION COMES OUT AND WINS THE GAUNTLET! **1/4 Match #6: Incoherence/Helios vs. Eddie Kingston/Joker/Ruckus [Semi-Finals] Awesome stuff again. Kingston/Hallowicked is fantastic again. BLK-OUT isolates Helios, and they are gigantic and awesome bullies to him. Hallowicked again has a great hot tag, and the finishing run has a lot of cool stuff. And then in a really marvelous bullshit move, KINGSTON FAKES A LOW BLOW FROM HALLOWICKED, AND THE REF DQ'S INCOHERENCE AND HELIOS! *** BLK-OUT vs. The Colony in the finals with The Colony now convincingly getting the win instead of like at Cibernetico is going to be AMAZING! Match #7: The Colony vs. Lince Dorado/El Pantera/Incognito [Semi-Finals] Vin Gerard again comes out to watch. This is pretty good stuff. They don't have amazing chemistry and El Pantera is clearly coasting, but there's enough cool stuff to classify this as "very good". Lots of awesome Colony double teams again. Incognito hits a Swanton Bomb and Lionsault that could easily be broken up, BUT VIN GERARD THROWS WORKER ANT INTO THE POST AND HOLDS FIRE ANT BACK AND THE LUCHADORS WIN!? WHAT THE FUCK, REALLY? **3/4 I get the story they were trying to do, truly. They'd gathered a big Hispanic fanbase in this building that got Lince really over, but Incognito is dogging it and El Pantera is hit or miss, so this team really has almost no crowd support, especially compared to The Colony, CHIKARA's most beloved unit. The crowd boos a lot as a result. The Colony beats up Vin Gerard post-match, and they put him upside down in a trash can. He gets out, and is in the next match. Match #8: Vin Gerard vs. Glacier vs. Martin Stone vs. Reno Diamond This is pretty much just whatever. Glacier is less interesting when he actually has to work long matches and the joke is run into the ground. Vin rolls him up with the tights to beat him. ** Match #9: Michael Nakazawa vs. m.c. KZ Average showcase match. KZ wins with a pretty Frog Splash. **1/2 Match #10: Los Ice Creams/The Osirian Portal vs. Arik Cannon/Tim Donst/Create-a-Wrestler/Chava II Entertaining bullshit filler match. Some good comedy with the Portal and Ice Creams, obviously. Cannon is the only one of his team who is a fully great wrestler, but CAW and Donst had some nice moments. Hilariously, during a crazy CHIKARA multiple headscissors spot, Donst covers one of the Ice Creams to win. ** Match #11: Eddie Kingston/Joker/Ruckus vs. Lince Dorado/El Pantera/Incognito [2008 KING OF TRIOS FINALS] I completely disagree with the end result of this, as the luchadores win. That being said, BLK-OUT does an awesome job with it, being fantastic pieces of shit to Lince. They beat the fuck out of him, but with King also constantly mocking his seizure. He has a nice little comeback, and he makes King tap out with the CHIKARA Special. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA Deuces Wild April 19th, 2008 Hellertown Star Lanes Hellertown, PA Match #1: Fire Ant/Soldier Ant vs. The Osirian Portal [2] This is good, not great. A little bit of a slow start, but then it picks up big at the end with a super great hot tag from Fire Ant. Some nice double teams and nearfalls. Given that this will eventually be a big tag title feud, they did a nice job of not burning through everything they have here. A few sloppy moments from the Portal. Ophidian gets the Death Grip on Fire Ant, and Vin Gerard comes from the crowd to pull Soldier Ant out from the save, and the Portal gets a 3rd point! **3/4 Match #2: Ice Cream Jr. vs. Robbie Ellis Fine short comedy match. Robbie wins with the Shiranui. ** In the ring, Vin Gerard says the ants can only beat him 3 on 1, and he's going to beat Worker Ant again tonight and he's going to make them pay for embarrassing him last year and at King of Trios. He says he's not fighting Worker alone tonight, and he calls out all of The Colony! They all come out to fight him, BUT VIN GERARD INTRODUCES HIS PARTNER, BULL PAIN! FUCK YEAH! Bull beats the fuck out of them with his bat, targeting Worker's knee, and he leaves with Vin. Match #3: Chuck Taylor/Icarus vs. Player Uno/Create-a-Wrestler Good showcase for the heels. Some cool moves, and the tecnicos are solid enough. They win with a DVD/Double Stomp combo on CAW. **1/2 Match #4: Helios [c] vs. Lince Dorado [CHIKARA Young Lions Cup] Very fun spotfest for under 10 minutes. Lots of super crisp and smooth stuff. Lince breaks out some nice new stuff for his control seg. Lince has a really ugly Lionsault botch that kind of brings this down, but otherwise, good. Helios wins with what will later be known as the African-American Destoyer. **3/4 Match #5: Gran Akuma vs. Jimmy Olsen Good stuff, but again, not quite great, in the theme of the night. Cool matwork and what not to start, and then like Lince, Akuma slips on a springboard and almost dies. Good finishing run, but then Akuma abruptly wins with a Moonsault just when this was really getting awesome. **3/4 Match #6: UltraMantis Black w/ Hydra vs. Tim Donst Short, and it's more of the start to an angle than anything. UMB wins with the Praying Mantis Bomb. **1/4 Donst is hurt, and UMB and Hydra take him off to the back, basically kidnapping him. Match #7: Brodie Lee vs. Shane Storm Good match to put Brodie over, destroying a guy who's historically been able to absorb a lot of punishment. Some nice throws and strikes, and Brodie wins with the Big Fucking Boot. **1/4 Match #8: Up in Smoke vs. Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke A great match finally happens. Mostly due to Up in Smoke being amazing, but Ryder and Hawke make a fine enough old school heel team for UIS to do stuff against. Cloudy was a good face in peril, then Cheech has the hot tag and it's good. And then, what the fuck? Ryder and Hawke win with a Spike Piledriver. CHIKARA de-emphasizing Up in Smoke is a bummer. *** Match #9: Mike Quackenbush [c] vs. El Pantera [NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship] This was great. Almost all matwork, but really really great. Nice subtle story with Quack trying to quicken the pace since he's faster than Pantera, and Pantera trying to ground him for the most part. They did a good job gradually picking up the pace. There's a kind of weird looking finish where Quack puts on the CHIKARA Special, and Pantera taps, but it looks like he's pounding the mat to get the crowd going, so it seems kind of abrupt. Real good stuff though. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA Passion & Persistence April 20th, 2008 The New Alhambra Arena Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Fire Ant/Soldier Ant vs. Vin Gerard/Bull Pain This is more of an angle than a match, as Bull is DQ'd within like 2-3 minutes for throwing the ref out. *3/4 Bull and Vin beat down the ants, and Worker Ant comes out to try and help, but they attack his bad knee again to injure him. Referees come out, and Bull hits some of them with his bat as well. They finally leave when the masked babyfaces come out, and people help The Colony. Bull would not be back, which is fine enough, it's 2008, and I don't want to see him that often. Match #2: Chuck Taylor vs. Hydra Hydra is all alone for once. Good stuff here. Comedy from Hydra early on, and then Chuckie T brought it down the finishing stretch. Hydra randomly makes with some nice lucha and offense too, before Chuck shuts it down with the Awful Waffle. **1/4 In the back, Jimmy Olsen says all he wanted to do was to get his brother and his tag partner back, but Colin's not picking up his phone when he calls, and he doesn't know where he is. He says maybe he CAN wrestle singles, and he's getting on the winning track tonight, and he's going to be Young Lion's Cup Champion. Match #3: Jimmy Olsen vs. Player Uno Very fun little match. Good matwork, offense, all that good shit. Jimmy has a ton of cool offense and he wins with an Overbomb and then a Piledriver in succession. **3/4 In the back, the Order of the Neo-Solar Temple is with Tim Donst, who looks confused. UMB says he is with friends now. Hydra keeps trying to get Mantis' attention, but he tells him to be quiet. Mantis says they will take care of him tonight, because he is now family. Tim Donst comes out for his match, and he has the Order with him. Match #4: Tim Donst w/ The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple vs. Ophidian This is whatever, but advances the storyline very well. UMB keeps giving Donst advice and Donst slowly starts to cheat to outrage from the fans, since he was absurdly beloved. Mantis crotches Ophidian on the top, and then Donst wins with a Gator Roll. **1/2 Donst leaves with the Order, still confused. Match #5: Helios vs. Amasis Lots of fun here. Not great, but a fun sub-10 minute match. Amasis continues to develop very quickly due to being super athletic already. Helios takes huge bumps, and has a lot of crisp and cool looking spots. Helios wins with a beautiful SSP. **3/4 Match #6: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm/Up in Smoke vs. Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke/Robbie Ellis And this was quite great. Lots of good lucha stuff early on, with the heels again being great at the basic old-timey heeling and bumping to put over the flashier babyface offense. Not so much of a real big finishing run, as the babyfaces come back and win. Which maybe fits the style of the heels better. Sweeney is hit with a palm strike from Quack, the Superkick combo from UIS, and That Japanese Move from Storm to win. *** Ryder and Hawke yell at Sweeney post-match, and he asks where they were when the four ganged up on him. Ryder says he dropped the ball, and he and Hawke walk out on him. Sweeney gets a big ovation. Match #7: Sabian vs. El Pantera This was supposed to be Sabian/Kingston vs. Lince/Pantera, but Kingston went on a huge bender due to personal issues in the month of April, so that got changed. This is still fine, I guess, and there's nothing wrong with it, but it's just sort of awkward. Sabian wins with a low blow and a roll up. **1/2 Match #8: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brodie Lee This is awesome as shit. Big awesome slugfest between the two biggest guys in the company. Brodie comes out looking better than when he came in, due to how much he's able to dominate Claudio. He makes the comeback though, and it's great. Brodie pulls the ref in the way of the Bicycle Kick, and it turns into a big brawl. They get pulled apart, and the referee comes to, and announces he's DQ'ing Claudio for the kick, so Brodie wins. ***1/4 Match #9: Incoherence [c] vs. Team F.I.S.T. [CHIKARA Campeonatos Des Parejas] FIST was rewarded the shot due to how screwy it was when they lost the belts. FIST is getting nuclear heat tonight. Good for them. This is very very good and even great for like 90% of it. Fun opening, mostly great FIST control seg. They seem to know the rules better, having more experience in these matches, and it allows them to beat Hallowicked with a Falcon Arrow and Frog Splash to go 1-0. Good comeback when they get overconfident, and Hallowicked gets Icarus with a Rydeen Bomb to make it 1-1. Then the finishing run goes too long and has a few ridiculous kickouts before they beat Akuma with a Double Super Fisherman's Buster. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA Cafe Culture May 17th, 2008 Hellertown Star Lanes Hellertown, PA Match #1: Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke [1] vs. Player Uno/Create-a-Wrestler Decent showcase for Ryder and Hawke to get a second point. Spike Piledriver does the job. ** Match #2: Ophidian vs. Bobby Dempsey Short nothing match to give Ophidian a win, I guess. Death Grip gets him the win. *3/4 Match #3: Hallowicked vs. Amasis This is a pretty awesome little match to add some build to Incoherence/Portal for the belts on the next night. Amasis works the arm well and has cool spots, but loses because he lacks experience. Hallowicked hits the huge fucking Yakuza Kick and then the Rydeen Bomb for the win. **3/4 Match #4: Icarus vs. Pelle Primeau Really fun 5 minutes here. Pelle takes huge and amazing bumps, and Icarus does his job well. AND PELLE PULLS OFF A HUGE UPSET WITH A CRADLE! YEAH! **3/4 Chikarason offers Pelle a shot in Young Lions' Cup in June, and he accepts. Match #5: Lince Dorado vs. Helios vs. PSYCHO vs. TJ Cannon [Rey De Voladores Elimination Match] Fun spotfest. Not long, but whatevs. Ends up with Helios vs. Lince, which is again a ton of fun. Helios wins with a Double Knees to Lince off the top, followed by the Standing SSP. **3/4 Eddie Kingston comes out, and he gets on the mic. He says he's not booked, but maybe that's why he actually showed up. He says he's not going to tell anyone why he's been missing shows, because nobody deserves to know. He says he came back to pop everyone's bubbles, because everyone here is basically trapped in their own little bubble, and they think they're better than what they are. Shane Storm comes out and challenges him to pop his bubble, and he slaps him! King leaves and says nobody here deserves a rematch, but he'll do it tomorrow, and Storm accepts. Match #6: The Colony/El Pantera vs. UltraMantis Black/Tim Donst/Crossbones/Hydra Fun stuff. Donst now has half his face painted, and UMB says he is the chosen one, and Hydra is not pleased by this. Fire and Donst have a run of very nice matwork, and then they work over Worker's knee. They had some really cool double teams too. Pantera was kind of dogging it again at points, but Fire had a great hot tag. Vin Gerard comes out to push Fire Ant off the top, and UMB hits him with the Praying Mantis Bomb to win. *** Match #7: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm vs. Chuck Taylor/Gran Akuma Awesome finishing run, but they had trouble getting going in the opening and middle. Just a case of them not meshing well and Chuck having an off night, but whatever. Really good finishing run, and Quack and Storm get a point after a Air Raid Crash/Double Stomp combo. **3/4 Match #8: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jorge Rivera This was fantastic. Great matwork and lucha type stuff for the most part. Skayde has an answer for everything on the mat, but he can't contend with the insane firepower of Claudio's offensive arsenal. Ricola Bomb does the job. *** Match #9: Stupefied vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Incognito vs. Turbo [RDV Qualifying Elimination Match] This wasn't much. Stup is out first, so you end up with shitty ass Incognito and Dutt and super green Turbo having to do shit. Incognito wins. Horrible result. **1/4 |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA Grit & Glory May 18th, 2008 The New Alhambra Arena Philadelphia, PA In the back, Chuckie T and Haze cut an amazing promo. Haze she's beaten Del Rey like 5 times in one second, and Taylor says they destroyed Dempsey at King of Trios. He says the crowd must have been full of Bobby Dempsey's parents, because nobody else would ever love him. Match #1: Sara Del Rey/Bobby Dempsey vs. Chuck Taylor/Daizee Haze Fun match. Lots of good comedy, along with SDR/Haze ruling again. Haze and Chuckie are both fantastic piece of shit heels. Sweeney is on commentary and is just constantly shitting on Bobby Dempsey, continuing that amazing storyline. Sara hits Haze with the Royal Butterfly for the win. **1/2 Match #2: Gran Akuma vs. PSYCHO The foreigner shows off much more cool stuff here than he did on the last show. Probably having now shaken off the jet lag. They have some cool spots before Akuma gets a Brainbuster and a Moonsault for the win. **1/2 In the back, the Super Smash Bros. say their quest for 3 points begins tonight. Match #3: Super Smash Bros. vs. Tim Donst/Hydra w/ UltraMantis Black Not the kind of awesome spotfest that SSB had and will go on to have in the future, but it was still fun. They're here more as babyfaces fed to the Order to get over the story. Donst and Hydra work surprisingly well together and start to become pals. SSB have cool moves and Donst beats Stupefied with the Donstitution. **1/2 Match #4: Vin Gerard vs. Lince Dorado Vin again gets the jump on an opponent by throwing his mask and jacket at them and then rushing them. Lince is also coming in with a bad leg, so they have a story there. Vin has some great leg work, and Lince's selling rules. Vin gets the Leg Snapmare, and then the STF for the win. On commentary, Chikarason says he has no choice but to put Vin in YLC now. *** Match #5: Claudio Castagnoli/El Pantera/Sonjay Dutt vs. Mike Quackenbush/Jorge Rivera/Turbo Absolutely the best Sonjay Dutt match ever. Really beautiful face/face trios match. You get the epic Claudio/Quack stuff, but also brilliant matwork with Claudio, Pantera, Quack, and Skayde. Turbo and Dutt are there too, I guess. They get guided well by the vets, and throw out some amazing spots when it picks up the pace. Claudio keeps using his power to get control segs for his team. Awesome finishing run of dives and stuff. Pantera was actually the weak link here, as he kept trying to do contemporary US indy spots like kicks and Lungblowers and it looked bad. But he got back out and CC/Turbo was a great final pairing. Ricola Bomb gets the win for Claudio. ***1/2 Awesome Kingston promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cHefF4FmHg Match #5: Eddie Kingston vs. Shane Storm Really great Kingston performance, but not on the level of their first match. Brutal strikes and great selling when Stormer makes the comeback. Lots of big head drops and what not. Not a ton of deep stuff here, not sure what to really write. It ruled. Kingston wins with a Tazmission-y hold. *** Match #6: The Colony vs. Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke Decent stuff, but too short to be really great. Sweeney again gets beat after the Ant Hill. **1/2 Ryder is mad at Sweeney again, but he gets on the mic. Sweeney says that was a fluke, and they challenge The Colony to a rematch. Match #7: Brodie Lee vs. Pelle Primeau Awesome Brodie squash for 2 minutes. ** Brodie keeps beating on him, but Claudio runs out to save, and Brodie leaves. Match #8: Incoherence [c] vs. The Osirian Portal [CHIKARA Campeonatos Des Parejas] Real good stuff. Solid matwork to begin, and then the Portal continued the arm work on Hallowicked that Amasis began last night. He sells well, and Delirious has a good hot tag. He beats Ophidian with the Here It Is Driver to go 1-0. The next fall is all finishing run type stuff, and it's great. And for the first time in CHIKARA history, a tag title match ends with 2-0 after Amasis is beat with the Double Super Fisherman's Buster. *** Match #9: Helios vs. Incognito [2008 Rey De Voladores Final] This was below average. Helios is super over and carried this with huge bumping and cool stuff. Incognito is clearly not trying at all and barely does anything remarkable. Which hey, that's his choice, but he's a babyface in a tournament based on high flying, this is no place for that. He also dominates way too much and wins with a shitty kind of a Bow and Arrow Hold. Can't believe this piece of shit went on to be Hunico. ** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA AniversarioMA May 23rd, 2008 Framingham, MA Match #1: The Osirian Portal vs. 2.0 This is quite the comedy outing. MOTHERFUCKING DANCE OFF. 2.0 being just supremely entertaining as usual. The Portal gets the win with the Event Omega. **1/2 Match #2: Vin Gerard vs. Create-a-Wrestler Real good showcase for Vin going into YLC next month, which he's pretty much a lock to win. Lots of brutal looking Gerard offense. He gets the snapmare to the leg again into the STF for the win. **1/2 Match #3: Jimmy Olsen vs. Icarus I wish this had gotten more than 6 minutes, because it was just so much fun. The job is to really highlight Jimmy's awesome offense, and they did a hell of a job with that. Lots of cool back and forth stuff, and Olsen gets a fancy lucha pin for the upset. **3/4 Leonard F. Chikarason comes out, and he asks Olsen if he wants to be in the Young Lions Cup in June, and he accepts. Match #4: Chuck Taylor/Gran Akuma vs. Lince Dorado/Turbo Fine little match. Turbo is less impressive without Claudio and Pantera and Quack there to help him, but this was still very entertaining. Awesome control seg by the FIST team. Technically, Akuma, Icarus, and Chuck are known as FIST as a unit, but fuck that, Icarus and Akuma are FIST. Chuckie T beats Turbo with the Awful Waffle. **3/4 Match #5: Tim Donst/Hydra [1] vs. Grudyin/Tucor The opponents are more insane Kaiju monsters. This is completely goddamn ridiculous and amazing. Hydra puts Tucor in the Hydra Lock for the win. CHIKARA. Dr. Cube comes out. He yells at the Kaiju monsters for taking this match without consulting him, because he does not wish to harm the Order of the Neo-Solar Temple. He yells at Hydra too and says to wait until UltraMantis Black hears of his insubordination. He then apologizes to Donst for him getting wrapped up in all of this. Hydra is sad. ![]() In the back, Team Quackenbush in the next match cuts a promo. Nothing of real note, but Worker Ant says he can't find Tim Donst anywhere. Quack isn't worried, but covers for it by saying they only need to be concerned with their match right now. Match #6: Mike Quackenbush/Worker Ant/Cheech/Stupefied vs. Shane Storm/Soldier Ant/Cloudy/Player Uno [ATOMICOS INCREDIBLES!] Awesome face vs. face match. Tons of amazing lucha sequences or just cool high flying spots early on, and they do a killer job of gradually picking up the pace. Cheech vs. Cloudy is probably the best exchange early on. Both teams have good control segments. Soldier Ant gets put over well by having him basically be the team leader and not Shane. Soldier makes Worker tap out with the CHIKARA Special. ***1/2 Match #7: Jorge Rivera vs. El Pantera This was very good. I don't think it was this super incredible classic that it got hailed as at the time, but hey whatever. Lots of good holds and a nice story of oneupsmanship turning a friendly kind of competitive match into a really hard fought and aggressive match by the end. Skayde was clearly better than Pantera here. They end up going to a double pin. *** In the back, Ryder and Hawke cut a promo about their six man. Ryder says he gets revenge on Claudio for killing the Kings of Wrestling tonight, and they're also going to beat the hell out of Incoherence and give them a preview of what's gonna happen if they get just one more point. Brodie Lee storms on and says he doesn't care about Incoherence, but he's gonna hurt Claudio. Match #8: Claudio Castagnoli/Incoherence vs. Brodie Lee/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke Fun "send the crowd home happy" kind of a main event. Not super intense or psychologically deep, but just a lot of fun. They did an awesome job teasing Brodie/Claudio on the next night. Ryder and Hawke were fine enough too. Awesome hot tag from Claudio, and he then hit a crazy Undertaker Plancha onto Brodie on the floor. Delirious hits Hawke with Shadows Over Hell to win. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Helios, Since 10/27/2007 ![]() CHIKARA AniversarioCT May 24th, 2008 Wallingford, CT Match #1: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm [1] vs. The Osirian Portal [1] So hey yeah, this was super fucking great. Perfect hot formula tag to open a show. Great matwork and lucha, awesome control seg by the Portal, and then a great hot tag from Quack. Big dive from him, and then a ton of cool stuff in the finishing run. Quack beats Ophidian with the QD3 to get their 2nd point! ***1/2 Match #2: Vin Gerard vs. Jimmy Olsen Awesome 8 minute match, but it's also merely a preview of what they would go on to do together. The camera accidentally caught Andy's hilarious face at points. Jimmy has a ton of fire on everything, and Vin's control seg is wonderful again. He goes nuts when Jimmy puts the Equinox mask back on him. Jimmy is the first man to avoid the Legmare and STF, but Vin is able to roll him up with the ropes for the win, continuing to have not lost since losing the mask. **3/4 In the back, Olsen is frustrated, but Vin Gerard walks over to him on his way out. He says not to be sad, because nobody in CHIKARA can beat him. Not him, not Shane Storm, not Lince, certainly not the ants. Jimmy says it's fine, because he's going to win the Young Lion's Cup, and when Colin comes back, they're going to win the tag titles too. Vin says Colin's not coming back, and most people feel sorry for him and won't tell him why, but he will. He whispers something in Jimmy's ear and leaves, and Jimmy is sad. ![]() Match #3: Up in Smoke vs. Super Smash Bros. AMAZING spotfest. Not a lot of substance as it's just a ton of really fucking awesome double teams and spots, but it's all really crisp and they build it up very very well. Thunder and Lightning gets the pin for Up in Smoke. ***1/4 Match #4: Jorge Rivera vs. Turbo This was fine enough. Worst match so far, but more just because it was merely good and not awesome or super fucking amazing. Skayde Special gets the win for Jorge. **1/2 Match #5: Los Ice Creams vs. Tim Donst/Hydra [2] Surprisingly great match. Although maybe a great LIC match should stop being shocking to me. Awesome comedy to begin, and then Los Ice Creams brought some really amazing rudo stuff in their usually just fun control seg. This is a really smart decision, since the crowd wants to cheer for Hydra and Donst anyways. Speaking of them, they continue to mesh really well together, including a tag celebration after double teams with them forming an air band. Goes on a little too long though, but whatevs. Hydra wins with the Hydra Lock, AND HYDRA AND DONST HAVE THREE POINTS! **3/4 Match #6: The Colony vs. Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor Perfect match to showcase CHIKARA. Lots of great lucha, a little comedy, great double teams and highspots, and all in a tight formula tag package. Good FIST offense on the control, and then Soldier has a great Tope Con Salute to force the tag. AWESOME AWESOME finishing run. There's a HUGE botch near the end that would have made this an all-time classic, but it was still awesome apart from that. Soldier gets beat after a Sole Food/Yoshi Tonic combo from Chuck and Akuma. *** Match #7: Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke [2] vs. Lince Dorado/El Pantera This is decent enough. Seemed too long for them, as they ran out of interesting stuff to do about halfway through. Poor placement on the card too, working an old school kind of deal after a gigantic awesome spotfest, so the crowd didn't give a fuck at all. Mitch gets a low blow on Lince and rolls him up to get the 3rd point. **1/4 In the back, Brodie Lee says Claudio's been the biggest and baddest guy in CHIKARA for the last 3 years, but he's here now, and now Brodie Lee is the biggest and baddest man in the land, and he's going to take out Claudio to prove it. Match #8: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brodie Lee Hey, this also ruled. Another spectacular brawl like their April match, but even better. That was a total slugfest, but now they start to throw out some totally insane bumps too, and also some ridiculous power spots. This time, Brodie's boot hits the ref as opposed to Claudio's in the last match. They keep brawling and Bryce eventually gets back up and he DQ's Brodie for it. ***1/4 Claudio gets Brodie in position for the Ricola Bomb, but he rolls out of the ring and bails. Really fantastic show. |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Vacant ![]() CHIKARA Young Lions Cup VI Night One June 13th, 2008 Hellertown Star Lanes Hellertown, PA This weekend is the farewell to this incredible venue, as well as probably the peak of CHIKARA's amazing streak of 2007-8. They lost a little momentum in the fall of 2008, despite having an incredible spring 2009 too. Anyways, yeah the venue. If I made a top 5 venues list, it would be on it. SIMON'S TOP 5 NON-WWE VENUES IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER: Hellertown Star Lanes (Hellertown, PA) The Staircase (Pittston, PA) The Frontier Fieldhouse (Chicago Ridge, IL) The RexPlex (Elizabeth, NJ) The PWG FunTimes Arena (Reseda, CA) JUST MISSED THE CUT: The Supper Club (New York, NY) The New Yorker (New York, NY) The one venue ROH ran in CT in 2005 with really weird and cool flooring The Sweatbox (Dayton, OH) Match #1: Amasis vs. Ultimo Breakfast [1st Round] Ultimo Breakfast is the new identity of C-A-W. Apart from a moment it creates on Night Three, this is mostly useless. This is a fine match though. This is easily the strongest YLC line up ever. Lots of quality back and forth for 7 minutes and Amasis wins with a cradle. **1/2 Match #2: Pelle Primeau vs. Ethan Page [1st Round] This is also decent. Page is somewhat impressive, and Pelle gets a lot out of him. Pelle is fucking 2008 Pelle, he's awesome as hell. Takes huge huge bumps to put over Page, and then has a great underdog comeback. Pelle gets a cradle to win. **1/2 In the parking lot, Vin Gerard cuts a promo. He says he's been to YLC before, but this is his first time as Vin Gerard, and there's nobody in the tournament that can stop him. Lince? Beat him. Jimmy Olsen? Beat him. Worker Ant? Beat him. He says he's going to beat Sami Callihan too, and nothing can stop him from becoming Young Lions Cup champion. Match #3: Vin Gerard vs. Sami Callihan [1st Round] FUCK YEAH SAMI! MY GUY SAMI CALLIHAN! This was wonderful, as he really beats the fuck out of Vin and comes out looking great. Vin has a good control seg once again, and Sami has a really fiery comeback. Lots of cool painful looking stuff, but then Vin gets the Legmare and the STF for the win. *** Match #4: Pinkie Sanchez vs. Alex Payne [1st Round] Decent stuff. Worst match yet, but hardly bad or anything. Pinkie wins with the Shining Asshole. **1/4 Match #5: Drake Younger vs. James Ross [1st Round] Ross is HORRIBLE, and Drake can only do so much. He wins with Drake's Landing, which is a Cop Killa/Vertebreaker type deal. ** Match #6: Jimmy Olsen vs. Stupefied [1st Round] This is fantastic for 10 minutes. Lots of awesome matwork, lucha, spots, etc. Just a ton of fun and packed with cool offense and nearfalls. Stupefied pulls off the HUGE upset with a Inverted Razor's Edge. This got shat on at the time, but I get it. Vin's clearly winning this leg of the tournament, and there's no reason to have Vin go over Jimmy twice in such a short amount of time given that they're going to feud later on. *** Match #7: The Colony vs. Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke Much better than the first match, due to having more time and a better crowd. Mitch is starting to get a little stale, but Sweeney and Hawke are pretty great still. The Colony delivers once again. Fire Ant vs. Sweeney was a fantastic pairing. Good control seg on Worker Ant, and Fire and Soldier have a good double hot tag. Fine finishing run. Hawke gets a low blow on Fire Ant and the Tomahawke for the upset. *** Match #8: Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. UltraMantis Black/Tim Donst/Hydra Too long to be great, but still lots of fun. FIST control seg goes on way too long. Donst and Hydra win with a Seated Senton version of a Hart Attack. **1/2 Match #9: Vin Gerard vs. Stupefied vs. Drake Younger vs. Pelle Primeau vs. Amasis vs. Pinkie Sanchez [Semi-Finals - Elimination Match] Awesome semi-final. Good mix of high flyers, a brawler, and a scumbag lazy heel. Vin shoves Pinkie backwards when he has Amasis up, and Amasis rolls him up for the elimination. Drake gets Pelle out with Drake's Landing, AND VIN IMMEDIATELY ROLLS UP DRAKE WITH THE TIGHTS TO ELIMINATE HIM! Gets down to Stup vs. Vin, and they have a really awesome final run. Vin gets out of the Inverted Razor's Edge and gets the STF for the win. *** Edited by Big Tuna, Feb 14 2018, 04:11 PM.

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Vacant ![]() CHIKARA Young Lions Cup VI Night Two June 14th, 2008 Hellertown Star Lanes Hellertown, PA All the people competing tonight, but when Worker Ant comes out last, VIN GERARD ATTACKS HIS KNEE WITH A PIPE! BAH GAWD! The rest of The Colony runs him off, and he is obviously questionable for tonight. Match #1: Lince Dorado vs. Kyle Matthews [1st Round] Lince showcase, basically. Kyle is pretty decent, but not great. Lince wins with an SSP. **1/4 Match #2: Ophidian vs. Steve "The Turtle" Weiner [1st Round] STW is an autistic fat man with a ninja turtle gimmick. So he's obviously the greatest wrestler of all time. Not a great wrestler, not really even good, but very entertaining. At least they kept it short, and Ophidian wins with the Death Grip. *3/4 It's time for Worker Ant's match, but Chikarason is there as he comes out on a crutch. He says Worker Ant is unable to compete tonight, but Vin Gerard isn't going to get away with this and he won't let him take The Colony out of another tournament, AND FIRE ANT COMES OUT TO TAKE HIS PLACE! MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT! Match #3: Fire Ant w/ Worker Ant vs. Chip Day [1st Round] Day is inoffensive, I guess. Fire Ant is awesome again. Vin Gerard comes out to try and interfere, but Worker Ant fights him off, and Fire hits the Beach Break on Chop to win. **1/4 In the back, the Order cuts a promo, and UMB talks about Tim Donst being the chosen one to bring the Cup to the order. He talks about three points that he and Hydra have, but UMB says that is irrelevant and he does not need the Hydra to hold him back. Match #4: Tim Donst w/ Crossbones vs. Christian Faith [1st Round] UMB joins commentary as well. This isn't much, but is hardly awful. Donst wins with the Donstitution. ** Match #5: Shayne Hawke vs. Bobby Dempsey [1st Round] Fun 5 minutes. Hawke takes big bumps and stalls and stooges in entertaining form. Bobby is best in short bursts, and Hawke wins with the Tomahawke. **1/4 Match #6: Marshe Rockett vs. Johnny Gargano [1st Round] SOUL TOUCHAZ IS BACK! YEAH! This is back when Gargano really looked promising. More nice old style heeling than contrived moves and him blatantly wanting to be the new Alex Shelley, and Rockett has a lot of cool stuff. No contrived stuff from Gargano too. Awesome finishing run, and Rockett hits a really high Flying Legdrop for the win. **3/4 Match #7: Mike Quackenbush/Shane Storm [2] vs. Super Smash Bros. Awesome face/face match. Quack guides the kids through matwork and they are all capable of some really fun lucha stuff. Quack and Storm have a great control segment, and then the finishing run is really really fucking great. Quack again has one hell of a fucking dive. They hit Stup with the Double Stomp Air Raid Crash to win and get a third point! *** As they celebrate, Tim Donst runs out! He whispers something in Quack's ear. AND QUACK RUNS AND ATTACKS SHANE STORM! WHAT THE FUCK?! HE PUNCHES THE SHIT OUT OF HIM, AND STORM FLEES OUT THE BACK DOOR! Quack turns back to Donst and says he better be sure, and Donst says he's sure. Match #8: UltraMantis Black/Crossbones w/ Hydra vs. Acid Jaz/Willie Richardson Fun stuff. UMB says they don't need Hydra and tells him to go be by Donst's side to make sure he wins. Soul Touchaz have some cool offense. Crossbones beats Jaz with the Freaking Sweet Driver. **3/4 Match #9: Fire Ant vs. Lince Dorado vs. Shayne Hawke vs. Tim Donst vs. Ophidian vs. Marshe Rockett [Semi-Finals - Elimination Match] Real good stuff. Once again, a good mix of styles, and mostly guys who trained together and are super comfortable working each other. All the Lince/Fire/Ophidian exchanges are super super smooth, and Donst has good amateur stuff. Marshe has more normal pure high flying, and then Hawke is your sleazy heel. Ends up with Fire vs. Hawke, and they have a very nice finishing run. Fire gets a Super Beach Break for the win. *** |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Vacant ![]() CHIKARA YOUNG LIONS CUP VI NIGHT THREE JUNE 15TH, 2008 HELLERTOWN STAR LANES HELLERTOWN, PA Match #1: Larry Sweeney/Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke vs. Da Soul Touchaz Super fun opener. The heels are perfect against the more colorful and entertaining stuff of DST. Pun fully intended. Good flashy nigger offense and then control seg from, the Fabulous Three. Sweeney gets beat after a huge Flying Splash from Richardson. **3/4 Ryder gets on the mic and asks what Sweeney's excuse is now, and says every time it's just he and Hawke, they win, but every time Sweeney's around, he loses for them. He says he's not just the weak link, but he's a loser, and they don't associate with losers. They walk out on him. ![]() Match #2: Jimmy Olsen vs. Lince Dorado Really awesome six minutes. Tons of super crisp and cool offense back and forth. They exchange roll ups, AND JIMMY PULLS OFF THE MASK! Lince covers his face and Jimmy rolls him up to win. **3/4 Post-match, Jimmy looks down at Lince as he puts his mask back on, and doesn't look very happy about it. Mike Quackenbush comes out, and he gets on the mic. He says a few months ago, Tim Donst didn't show up in the back after the show, and he left with the Order. He called him the next day, and Tim said the Order wanted him in, and he had an idea, and Tim Donst has been a mole inside the Order to find out what UltraMantis Black knew about the secret of the CHIKARA Special being revealed to Chris Hero last year, because he knew there had to be a traitor on the tecnico side. And last night, Donst told him that it was Shane Storm who told Mantis the counter. He calls out Shane Storm to explain himself because he really wants to hear it. He doesn't come out, and Chikarason comes out to say he's not here, so Quack says he'll go to his house, and he leaves. Match #3: Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. Sami Callihan/Ultimo Breakfast/Steve Weiner Super entertaining match. STW is retardedly amazing again, and Sami randomly yells "YEAH! TOAST!" in support of Ultimo. Some good comedy and then a great rudo control seg. Akuma vs. Sami was an amazing slugfest at several points in the match. Sami has a really great Lariat. Akuma hits Sami with the Falcon Arrow for the win, which makes sense since the Falcon Arrow always does the deal. **3/4 Match #4: Tim Donst w/ Hydra vs. Ethan Page Donst is back in his normal gear and with his normal music. This is fine enough, but the worst match of the show so far by virtue of just being average. Donst wins with the Donstitution. At the end, UltraMantis Black comes out and drags Hydra to the back. **1/2 Match #5: The Osirian Portal vs. Sara Del Rey/Bobby Dempsey [1] Fun bullshit match. Lots of comedy to begin, and then a solid formula tag. Bobby ABUSES HIS FAT! YEAH! Portal has a fun control seg and Sweeney is one again amazing on commentary, rooting on SNSI despite hating Bobby. Bobby has a fun hot tag, and hits Ophidian with TREMORS~ to win. **3/4 Match #6: Eddie Kingston vs. Soldier Ant Awesome Eddie Kingston style match. Which means he really beats the fuck out of a young guy with some brutal strikes, and then sells like a motherfucker for the comeback, making said young guy come off amazingly. Soldier has some awesome dives here, including the super impressive Aries-style Tope Con Missile. King wins with a nasty Backfist to the Future. *** Match #7: Brodie Lee vs. Drake Younger AMAZING 5 minute slugfest. A lot like Festus vs. Kozlov from the same summer, as they pack in a ton of awesome spots and strikes into a short amount of time, and it's really memorable as a result. Huge nasty bumps from both guys, awesome strikes, etc. Brodie wins with a disgustingly great Big Boot. ***1/4 Match #8: Incoherence vs. Super Smash Bros. Highly entertaining face/face match. You get some goofing around early on, but then they put on a really great tag match. They have a lot of cool spots and counters and double teams while also not giving away everything and putting on a nice preview before their longer match later in the year. Delirious gets Uno with the Chemical Imbalance II for the win. *** Match #9: Vin Gerard vs. Fire Ant [YOUNG LIONS CUP VI FINALS] Fire Ant comes out to "Heat of the Moment", as if it wasn't already obvious that he's fucking incredible. Really really really fucking amazing match. Vin goes to throw the mask for a jump on Fire like everyone else, BUT FIRE ANT RUSHES HIM FIRST AND ATTACKS! Perfect heel/face match, with Vin doing every dirty trick in the back and Fire being real...well, fiery. They break out a few HUUUUUUGE spots. The masked guys in the back come out to root on Fire Ant and the crowd gets super hot. Awesome nearfalls that I got into, almost 4 years after the fact. Only real flaw is an egregious no-sell of a Reverse DVD by Vin at the end, but after that, Fire hits the Beach Break to finally beat Vin. Classic case of how to build up a heel and his offense and get a babyface over huge by stopping him. ****1/4 |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Fire Ant, Since 6/15/2008 ![]() CHIKARA Tragedy & Triumph July 13th, 2009 The New Alhambra Arena Philadelphia, PA In the back, Bryce Remsburg has been put in charge due to Chikarason being called to a meeting. He says he doesn't want to get kicked in the face again, so he assigns Derek Sabato as the referee for that match, and puts the ring announcer as the second referee on the floor, since he's trained as a ref. He then makes Louden Noxious give him a back rub. Fuck yeah Bryce. In the back, Eddie Kingston cuts an average promo on Lince. Not average for anyone but him, but not his best stuff. Talking about wanting to see Lince have a seizure again is a little beneath him after all his incredible promos on a higher level than that. But then he ends with an awesome line. "You can call me sick, sure. But the world is cold. Bundle up." Match #1: Eddie Kingston vs. Lince Dorado Only like 5 minutes, but pretty damn awesome. Kingston demolishes Lince with the Backfist to the Future. **1/2 King goes to leave, but Lince gets up against the ropes and says he's not dead yet. Eddie shakes his head, but just walks away. Match #2: Jimmy Olsen vs. Ultimo Breakfast This is far too short at 4 minutes, but it gets the point across well. Jimmy is once again really really aggressive, and ends up tearing off the mask for a DQ. **1/4 He tries to look under Ultimo to see his face as he hides it, and shakes his head and says that's not Colin either. AMAZING. Match #3: Soldier Ant/Worker Ant/Super Smash Bros. vs. Team F.I.S.T./The Osirian Portal Fun match, and actually gets time now. Lots of good lucha based stuff to begin. The Colony and FIST work really well together once more. Good control segment on Uno, especially by FIST. Good hot tag by the ants and a fine finishing run. SSB miscommunicate again, allowing Icarus to beat Uno with the Tornado Pedigree. *** In the back, Uno and Stupefied argue about their miscommunication. Uno says he thinks he has the solution, and he hands Stup a box, and tells him to think about it and walks away. He opens it up, and nods. Larry Sweeney comes out, and he gets on the mic. He says on the last show, Mitch Ryder crossed the line by calling him a loser. He says you can call Larry Sweeney a lot of things, but not a loser, and a loser wouldn't be a 21 time ICW-ICWA Texarkana TV Champion. He says he could beat Mitch any day, and Mitch and Hawke come out. Mitch says he and the kid are going to win the tag team titles tonight, and Sweeney can't handle him in a singles match, so he tells him to find a partner and get three points if he wants them so bad. They leave, and Sweeney says he'll do whatever he has to do to get his hands on Mitch Ryder. Match #4: Chuck Taylor vs. Incognito ANOTHER shitty Incognito match where a good wrestler tries very hard, but he's clearly not giving a shit at all. Incognito wins with the Flux Capacitor. **1/4 Match #5: Mike Quackenbush vs. Shane Storm THIS WAS AWESOME! Quack is super super pissed and just murders Stormer. They throw down and just beat the fuck out of each other and take insane bumps for some 9 minutes or so. Storm does a good job gradually going from trying to survive to trying to actually win. He hurts Quack's knee, and his selling rules. Quack puts on the CHIKARA Special, and Storm taps. ***1/4 Quack refuses to let go, so the ref DQ's him! Referees come out to pull him off, and he lets go. Storm limps away to the back, and Vin Gerard is seen in the crowd. Match #6: Fire Ant [c] vs. Vin Gerard [CHIKARA Young Lions Cup] Obviously this isn't as good as the YLC final. It simply can't be. But, it was still great. Fire Ant was sensational here. Lots of crisp lucha stuff early on, big bumps, awesome comebacks, etc. His selling of the knee is quite good too. Vin tries to frame him with the cup to steal the belt, but Worker and Soldier Ant come out to tell him what happened. As that happens, Vin hits Fire Ant with the cup, and he covers to win the Cup! *** Match #7: Tim Donst vs. UltraMantis Black w/ Hydra & Crossbones Short, but that's probably for the best. Crossbones is willing to attack Donst, but Hydra is not. He accidentally hits Mantis, and Donst wins with the Donstitution. **1/4 Donst leaves, and UMB is mad. He calls Hydra in the ring, and he calls him the lowest form of life he's ever seen, and he cannot do anything right. Hydra yells at him in his sea monster language, and Crossbones attacks from behind! They beat down on him, BUT TIM DONST RUNS OUT TO SAVE! YEAH! They run off the Order, AND SIGNAL FOR THE BELTS! THEY PLAY AIR GUITAR, AND THE SEA DONSTERS WERE BORN! Match #8: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brodie Lee [No Disqualification Match - Two Referees Present] Awesome match, possibly their best yet. Same themes as the others though. Big strikes, good finishing run, etc. Brodie gets sent into the steel buckle that he exposed and Claudio goes for the Ricola Bomb, but Shayne Hawke runs out! He's just a distraction though, and Mitch Ryder then comes out AND THROWS A FUCKING FIREBALL AT CLAUDIO! Brodie then hits the Big Boot for the win. ***1/4 Match #9: Incoherence [c] vs. Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke [CHIKARA Campeonatos Des Parejas] Probably the worst CDP match in the last 2 and a half years. The old style Memphis act does not mesh well with a 2/3 falls format. Mitch's act is also growing a little old by this point, and everything was just sort of off here. Hawke gets a low blow on Delirious for the 1st fall. They do a little more stuff, and then Hallowicked has a great hot tag. He gets Hawke with the Rydeen Bomb to make it 1-1. 3rd fall's finish is pretty out of nowhere as Hallowicked gets a schoolboy on Ryder off the ropes for the win. **3/4 |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Vin Gerard, Since 7/13/2008 ![]() CHIKARA All That Glitters August 9th, 2008 Reading, PA Match #1: Super Smash Bros. vs. The Osirian Portal Stupefied is now under a mask and is Player Dos. Fun opener, but not quite great. A little rough in the middle, but an awesome finishing run. SSB hits Amasis with the tandem Piledriver to finally get a point. **3/4 Vin Gerard comes out to the ring and says he wants to talk to someone in the back who nobody likes anymore, and that's Shane Storm. He comes out and Vin congratulates him on his big win last night, and asks when his last big win was before that. He says he was like Shane for two and a half years, hiding behind a mask and trying to make his trainers and the fans happy. He said the only reason he lost his mask is because of Shane Storm selling out the secret to the CHIKARA Special, and for that, he thanks him! He says he may have been selfish, but he also helped him out a great deal, and he hugs him. Shane is confused and Vin says if anyone cared about Shane, they would have come out by now to shut him up. He says he knows how it feels to be an outcast, and even with the Cup, he's not allowed in the locker room. He asks Shane what else he has to lose, and says they have to stick together, and he leaves. Good stuff here. Match #2: Brodie Lee vs. Ultimo Breakfast Good Brodie showcase. Big Boot ends it. ** Match #3: Jimmy Olsen vs. Fire Ant Focus is once again on the storyline with Jimmy, but still a great 8 minutes before booking kicked in. Fire takes some huge bumps and has his usual fantastic dive. Really crisp back and forth stuff with some cool shit happening. Jimmy again is DQ'd for taking off the mask of Fire Ant. **3/4 Jimmy tries to see his face, but is upset when he does, and he leaves. Match #4: Mike Quackenbush vs. Shane Storm Another awesome sub-10 minute fight here. Shane again targets the knee, and Quack's selling rules. Good comeback, and yeah. Quack hits the GODDAMNED JIG N'TONIC ON THE FLOOR! Shane is almost totally out and is counted by the ref. He gets to 17, BUT VIN GERARD COMES FROM THE CROWD AND HITS QUACK WITH THE CUP! Shane slowly gets back in by 20, and he covers to win. *** Vin left the Equinox mask in the ring, and Storm takes it to the back with him. Match #5: Team F.I.S.T./Chuck Taylor vs. Lince Dorado/Las Chivas UGH. THE FUCKING CHIVAS AGAIN. Lince tried his best, but he can only do so much as one man on a trios squad, you know? FIST and Chuck were fine, but the goddamn Chivas are just so terrible. Chuck eventually beats one of the pieces of shit with the Awful Waffle. **1/2 Claudio comes out to the ring for his match vs. Mitch Ryder. He gets on the mic and says he's been through a lot since he moved to America, but he never expected to have fire thrown at his face. He says people have said he was too nice before, but that won't be a problem tonight. Mitch Ryder and Shayne Hawke come out and Mitch says he did promise him a match if he showed up tonight, but he never said it was against him, and he throws Hawke in the ring. Match #6: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shayne Hawke w/ Mitch Ryder This is only a few minutes, and more of an angle than anything. Hawke ends up getting a Jackknife Pin, and Ryder holds his legs down to help him steal the win. *3/4 Match #7: Vin Gerard vs. Worker Ant Solid 6 minutes or so. Good Vin control seg, solid finishing run. Just not really enough time, but given that this is only non-title and the result, they're bound to have another match. Of course, given that the show it happens isn't on XWT and doesn't look good enough to buy, I guess I'm not reviewing it. LOL. Worker wins with a Brainbuster. **3/4 Match #8: Incoherence [c] vs. The Sea Donsters [CHIKARA Campeonatos Des Parejas] Good stuff while not being great. 22 minutes kind of exposed Donst and Hydra as not being ready for this kind of a match. No idea why they got a longer match than the Portal, who hung a lot better with Incoherence than they did. Still, lots of fun spots going on. Hallowicked goes 1-0 on Hydra with the Yakuza Kick. Good finishing run, but UltraMantis Black and Crossbones come out to distract Hydra, and Donst gets hit with the Chemical Imbalance II. Incoherence retains. **3/4 |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Vin Gerard, Since 7/13/2008 ![]() CHIKARA Vanity & Violence August 10th, 2008 The New Alhambra Arena Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Los Ice Creams vs. Las Chivas Los Ice Creams tried. They were entertaining as fuck and put on a great show, but there was only so much they can do with these fucking goats. They at least got the win, with the El Asesino. *3/4 Match #2: Chuck Taylor vs. Fire Ant w/ Soldier Ant This is solid and has a good finishing run, but is much more of a "2nd match on the show" type deal than the awesome 10-15 minute match they are capable of having. But yeah, lots of good offense in the final moments, and after it behind reversed many times, Fire hits the Beach Break on Chuckie T for the win. **1/2 Vin Gerard comes out from the crowd, and he sits down in the ring. He calls Shane Storm out to the ring again, and he comes out, with the Equinox mask. Vin says he won again last night, and it's just like how when he became an outcast, it brought something out of him. He points to the mask and says only by losing everything could he truly become who he was supposed to be. He says Shane surely realizes now that sometimes a loss is really a win, and that the mask has to go. Vin leaves again, and Shane touches his own mask, and thinks about it. Match #3: Mitch Ryder/Shayne Hawke vs. Bobby Dempsey/Sara Del Rey [2] w/ Larry Sweeney Solid enough. Didn't need 12 minutes, but whatever. Mitch continues to put in less and less effort as each show passes. That being said, this was a ton of fun for Sweeney actually rooting on Dempsey from ringside, which is almost surreal. He accidentally trips up Bobby though and Hawke hits the Tomahawke to win. **1/4 Mitch calls Larry a loser again, and tells him to go back to school because he doesn't belong here. ![]() Match #4: Jimmy Olsen vs. Worker Ant Another painfully short Olsen match. Only 5 minutes, but they do a lot of solid stuff here. Jimmy wins with a Brainbuster. **1/2 Jimmy rips off his mask post-match, until Soldier comes out to save. Jimmy leaves, again upset, and he says "It's not him." as he shakes his head and leaves. Match #5: Team F.I.S.T. vs. Super Smash Bros. [1] Good stuff! Decent comedy to begin, and then FIST had their typically good control seg on Uno. It might have something to do with CHIKARA stopping booking Up in Smoke for no real reason, but FIST have added that certain something missing in 2008 and are now finally the best team in the company. Shame it happened AFTER their 11 month tag title run, but hey. Lots of iffy offense in the finishing run holds it back, and Uno hits some manner of a head drop on Icarus for the win and their second point! **3/4 Match #6: Vin Gerard [c] vs. Drake Younger [CHIKARA Young Lions Cup] Lots of fun. Drake brawls around and takes huge bumps, and Vin is totally out of his element. He tries to control, but Drake is too tough to really control and he just gets killed a lot. Shane Storm comes out at the end to watch. Drake eventually hits Drake's Landing, which is the Cop Killa, BUT SHANE STORM KICKS VIN ON THE MAT FOR THE DQ! *** Storm quickly drags out Vin and celebrates with him. Vin says he doesn't go to the back anymore, and he comes with him. They leave through the crowd and go out the back door. Match #7: Mike Quackenbush/The Sea Donsters vs. UltraMantis Black/Crossbones/Dr. Cube DR. CUBE! YEAH! Quack does what he can to carry this from a purely in-ring standpoint. Dr. Cube is not much, but they needed a third guy. Good finishing run of stuff, and UMB is able to block the Hydra Lock, and he beats Hydra 100% clean with the Praying Mantis Bomb. **1/2 In the back, Lince Dorado cuts a promo. He says Kingston might have beaten him, but he couldn't keep him down, and once again, he won't be able to make him quit or give up tonight, and not only will he still be standing, but he's going to win. Match #8: Eddie Kingston vs. Lince Dorado Awesome match, now that they get 12 minutes to work with. Classic Kingston vs. young guy format. Kingston yells at the fans for not cheering Lince after he almost died for them and for how badly he wants their acceptance. This is all quite strange, I don't ever remember another case of a heel yelling at fans for booing a babyface, apart from maybe a few off-script moments on the mic. They're clearly trying to get Lince back over by having King "Tim Donst" him, basically beating him so badly that fans love him for the beating he's taking. It doesn't work because Lince is not as sympathetic. It's kind of transparent. Still a great match. Lince has his best comeback yet, and actually kicks out of the Backfist to the Future. King then chokes him out with his Tazzmission variant to win. ***1/4 Lince again gets up post-match and says he's still standing and dares Eddie to fight him some more, but he walks out on him. Awesome Eddie promo post-match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoXGE3nVBpI Match #9: Claudio Castagnoli/Incoherence vs. Brodie Lee/The Osirian Portal This is mostly about Claudio/Brodie, but everyone involved puts on a good match. Brodie keeps taking shots at Claudio on the apron. Hallowicked and Amasis once again work super super well against each other. There's a good control seg on Delirious. Good tag stuff from the Portal, and Brodie has epic power offense. Claudio finally gets in and goes after Brodie. They fight on the floor and shit breaks down. Great finishing run and Claudio gets the Pop-Up European on Ophidian for the win. ***1/4 Brodie attacks Claudio now, and they keep fighting. They get pulled apart by most of the locker room and officials. Leonard F. Chikarason comes out and announces a STEEL CAGE MATCH between them for September 7th! Thank god that's on the Best of 2008 set so I can review it. |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Incoherence, Since 10/26/2007 CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Champion: Vin Gerard, Since 7/13/2008 ![]() CHIKARA La Loteria Letal September 6th, 2008 Easton, PA This show will have an eight team Lethal Lottery tag tournament. Sort of. The finals will actually happen in October, so you get the QFs and Semis on this show. The winning team will have the three points necessary to challenge for the tag titles, so there's that. Match #1: Helios/Tim Donst vs. Icarus/Ultimo Breakfast [Quarterfinals] Fun opener. I am glad to see Helios back. Lots of great exchanges with Icarus and both men. Ultimo was fine enough too, I guess. Ultimo gets a Razor's Edge on Helios for his biggest win ever and kind of an upset. **3/4 In the back, Jimmy apologizes to his LL tag partner, Lince Dorado for his behavior lately, but he's changed and he figured out the truth. Lince says to save it, because he only wants to win tonight. The implication is Vin Gerard told Jimmy that Colin was hiding under a mask to get him to unmask people, but Jimmy figured it out now that Colin is back. Match #2: Jimmy Olsen/Lince Dorado vs. Eddie Kingston/Shane Storm w/ Vin Gerard [Quarterfinals] Awesome stuff for 7 minutes. Storm has a new black mask. King and Storm are both really brutal on their offense, and Storm is more motivated than he's been in about 2 years. Jimmy has a great hot tag, and he and Lince mesh REALLY well together. Good dives too. Lince shockingly makes Kingston tap to the CHIKARA Special. *** Match #3: Vin Gerard/Colin Delaney vs. Mitch Ryder/Halcon Guerrera [Quarterfinals] Mitch is mad about having to team with a Mexican. Colin gets a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE pop for his return. Ryder isn't trying and Halcon is awful, so this is not much. Vin makes Halcon tap to the STF. ** In the back, Sweeney and Claudio have been drawn as a team. Sweeney says this is gonna be great, and they can go over some moves and come up with a tag name, and he's thinking Swiss n' Sour. Claudio is not excited, and he fakes a phone call and walks away. Match #4: Mike Quackenbush/Pinkie Sanchez vs. Claudio Castagnoli/Larry Sweeney [Quarterfinals] This was great. Sweeney and Claudio were a ton of fun together. And oh hey, there's that Quack/Claudio match up too. Lots of good lucha stuff from Quack, and then Swiss n' Sour had a solid control seg on Pinkie. Claudio has the awesome power spots. Good finishing run, and Quack gets Pinkie with a La Magistral for the win. *** Match #5: Brodie Lee vs. Hydra Awesome awesome Brodie murder. Big Boot ends it. ** Match #6: Jimmy Olsen/Lince Dorado vs. Icarus/Ultimo Breakfast [Semi-Finals] Decent, but nothing really special or great. Ultimo worked most of this, which probably explains why. They did some stuff and Jimmy beats Ultimo with a Superkick. **1/2 Match #7: Mike Quackenbush/Pinkie Sanchez vs. Vin Gerard/Colin Delaney [Semi-Finals] Colin and Vin work shockingly well together for people as far apart on the heel/face spectrum as they are. PERHAPS ALL IS NOT AS IT SEEMS. Quack vs. Vin was a lot of fun too. Not exactly Quack/Hero or Quack/Claudio anything, but what is? Vin attacks Quack's hurt leg from the Shane Storm matches, and his selling is good. Sanchez has a decent hot tag, and in kind of a weird moment for a face (which makes sense since he turns heel on the next show), Colin wins with the FU. *** Match #8: Hallowicked/The Colony vs. Chuck Taylor/Gran Akuma/The Osirian Portal This did not exactly need 23 minutes, but it was pretty awesome regardless. Lots of great combinations, and no pairing is really bad. The Colony has great chemistry with the Portal and with Chuck. Hallowicked vs. Amasis is again wonderful. Rudos have some good control segments, and then the finishing run is good. Ophidian gets beat after the Ant Hill. *** |

So hey, yeah. Whoever was the greatest person in the history of XWT and uploaded all of these shows from 2005-2008 stopped after the last show I reviewed. I went back on my old laptop and found two other shows from 2008, and bought the Best of 2008 set from SMV. So I will be reviewing matches from that in chronological order, and then the two shows as they come. Incoherence/Helios/Hydra vs. UltraMantis Black/Crossbones/The Best Around, Style & Substance (September 7th) Awesome awesome match for just under 5 minutes. Perfect blend of comedy and awesome moves. Good control seg, and then yeah, just a totally fucking amazing finishing run. Super crisp, different styles all around, cool double teams, etc. A schoolyard trip actually pays off as Delirious rolls up Bruce Maxwell after one to win. **3/4 Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brodie Lee [Steel Cage Match], Style & Substance (September 7th) WONDERFUL MATCH! Claudio opens the match with a Tope Suicida through the cage door. Perfect feud ending brawl of a cage match. Awesome strikes from both guys, and the each take a few insane cage bumps. They actually got blood on Brodie, which is more than I expected from a CHIKARA cage match, being all family friendly and shit. Claudio tops his earlier insane cage spot with a FUCKING FLYING EUROPEAN UPPERCUT OFF THE TOP OF THE CAGE!!!! He then hits the Ricola's Edge for the win. ***1/2 Lince Dorado/Helios vs. The Iron Saints, The Artistic Pursuit of Being Yourself (September 20th) I was there for this show! Shame they didn't put Fire Ant/Vin Gerard on the set, but I understand why they didn't. If they put this AND that on here, nobody would buy the actual show. Easily the best Thomasellis match ever. It's mostly Lince and Helios doing stuff, but that was probably a good thing. The Thomasellis stuck to basic stuff and bumped big for the babyfaces. They get Stereo SSPs for the win. *** Incoherence [c] vs. Super Smash Bros. [CHIKARA Campeonatos Des Parejas], Laying In The Gutter, Looking at the Stars (September 21st) SSB got their third point on the 9/7 show. This is a fun face/face mach, although as far as face/face CDP matches, it's not as good as Incoherence/Up in Smoke. Within a minute or so, Delirious pauses Player Uno on the mat and pins him to go 1-0. They have a nice little second fall, and Dos beats Hallowicked with a Frog Splash to go 1-1. Final fall is where they really go nuts with moves and dives and shit, and it is great stuff. Teasing miscommunication between the SSB was a nice touch. They win the belts with the Assisted Spike Piledriver! *** |

Lince Dorado/Jimmy Olsen vs. Vin Gerard/Colin Delaney [Lethal Lottery Finals], Global Gauntlet Night One (October 18th) Perfectly done heel/face formula tag. Lince and Jimmy have a ton of fire and are crisp and exciting on offense, and Vin and Colin just cheat a lot to emphasize the flash babyface offense. Awesome hot tag by Jimmy and great finishing run. Jimmy hits Colin with the Overbomb, and Lince then follows with the Shooting Star Press for the win. *** Brodie Lee vs. Daisuke Sekimoto, Global Gauntlet Night One (October 18th) Big man slugfest of the highest magnitude. Awesome punches from Brodie in his control seg, and then DICE-K had some totally crazy throws in the finishing run, as well as a marvelous Tope Suicida. Not a ton of depth or psychology here, just two big dudes throwing down. Sekimoto wins after a Deadlift German Suplex. ***1/4 |

Brodie tells him to stay on the apron and if he screws it up, he'll kill him.
