NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Jeff Jarrett, Since 11/3/2005
NWA World Tag Team Champions: America's Most Wanted, Since 10/22/2005 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPIONS CURRENTLY
TNA X-Division Champion: Samoa Joe, Since 12/11/2005

TNA Impact
December 24th, 2005
Orlando, FL

Christian Cage comes out in white pants, a wig, sunglasses, a DON'T PISS ME OFF SHIRT, and with a tiny guitar. He asks if this is how a champion is supposed to look, and this is pretty lame. Jarrett and Monty come out to fight him, and he does alright. He gets out before he can be double teamed, and then the lights go out and the Sting music and scorpion logo plays again.

Clips air of the Joe/Daniels stuff.

In the back, Shane interviews Daniels. He says he might have come back too early, but at Final Resolution, he will take what matters most to Joe. He will end his winning streak, and he will take back HIS X Division Title, and that isn't just a promise, that isn't just a guarantee, THAT IS GOSPEL.

At ringside, Tenay announces Raven vs. a mystery guy for the PPV, and if he wins, he gets a title shot, but if he loses, he's fired.

Match #1: Christopher Daniels vs. Eric Young w/ Scott D'Amore
Eric is scared of his pyro. This happened and was far too short. Shelley comes out to film it, and Moore is in the crowd again with a sign promoting himself. I'd write it out, but that's too much effort being put into covering Shannon Moore. Daniels wins with Angel's Wings.
**

In the back, Shane is with BG and Kip and BULLET BOB ARMSTRONG! YEAH! He says no matter what, something broken can always be fixed. BG shakes his head, but Bob says they can fix it. He asks BG how many times he had to separate he and his brothers from fighting, and they're still family. He can only just nod and say "yes, sir". He says he's going to talk to Truth and tells them to stay calm tonight. He then pats Shane on the arm and says "thank you, Shawn". AMAZING.

Hype video for a TNA special at Midnight on January 1st. AMW VS. STYLES/DANIELS FOR THE BELTS?! AWESOME.

Match #2: Abyss w/ Father James Mitchell vs. Chris Sabin
Sabin did his best here. Hebner takes notes again. Finishing run of Sabin trying to avoid certain doom and gradually closing in on a win before Mitchell interferes was nice. No idea why this got like 7 minutes when Joe vs. Lethal and Joe vs. Aries only got 3-4. Black Hole Slam ends it.
**1/2

Match #3: Ron Killings vs. Kenny King

Solid Troof squash.
*1/2

Bob Armstrong comes out to talk as Killings leaves, but he says he has nothing to say and he doesn't want any part of it.

Match #4: Christian vs. Chris Harris w/ James Storm & Gail Kim
Fun match. Storm gets ejected early on. Christian is still rusty as a face, but Harris is a good enough heel to cover. James Storm comes back down to interfere, hiding under the ring so the ref doesn't see him. Good counters and Christian wins with the Unprettier.
**3/4

Planet Jarrett all comes out and they beat him down to end the show. Where the fuck are Rhino and Team 3D? Assholes.

TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR:

2002: America's Most Wanted
2003: America's Most Wanted
2004: America's Most Wanted

OTHER 2005 WINNERS:

WWE: MNM
ROH: Hillbilly JesHUSS
CHIKARA: Arik Cannon/Claudio Castagnoli
PWG: Arrogance
CZW: Probably Kings of Wrestling

So, this was never in doubt. Unlike 2003 and 2004, they didn't even have another truly great team to contend with for this award.

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:

2002: AJ Styles
2003: AJ Styles
2004: AJ Styles

OTHER 2005 WINNERS:

WWE: Chris Benoit
ROH: Samoa Joe
PWG: Super Dragon
CHIKARA: Chris Hero
CZW: ?

I predicted this for AJ as usual, but I had no idea it would be so close. AJ rarely worked TV in the first six or so months, meaning that not only was he not #1 at any point for most of the year, but that it went to a guy who worked TV all the time. That's right. Fucking CHRIS SABIN had the lead over AJ for at least nine months of the year. AJ would leap ahead for maybe a show after a great PPV match, but slow and steady seemed to be winning the race for Sabin. Samoa Joe made a hell of a fucking run, but just didn't have enough time. Another 2-3 months, and he'd have it for sure. So yeah, fucking Chris Sabin almost had it, until the two amazing X Division tags on Impact in October and November. If Chris Sabin was AJ's partner instead of Sonjay Dutt, this would have been the biggest upset in WOTY history maybe.

But he wasn't, and this isn't.
