WWE Raw
January 3rd, 2011
Phoenix, AZ

To open the show, Cole says John Cena will not be here tonight due to injuries suffered at the hands of CM Punk and the Nexus last week.

Match #1: The Miz [c] w/ Alex Riley vs. John Morrison [WWE Championship - Falls Count Anywhere Match]
This is really great, and continues that weird hot streak that Morrison is on in late 2010 and early 2011. It's also the only Miz title defense where he really looked like he belonged in the main event, and is booked how a guy with his skill set should be booked. Miz as aggressive bad ass is always terrible because he can't pull it off, but Miz as a skilled opportunist is great. All his big stuff is based on him outsmarting Morrison or using Morrison's own set ups against him. Morrison takes some gigantic bumps, and both men throw way better strikes than you could or should expect. Morrison misses the Starship Pain to the floor and goes through a table, and Miz then hits the Skull Crushing Finale to win. This is the match that should have been at the Rumble, as Miz comes out looking like actually deserves the title.
***1/2

TONIGHT: A #1 Contender's match in a steel cage

In the back, Scott Stanford is with The Miz. He yells that he is still champion and that he is still awesome, and says he wil lgo down as the most rugged brawler, the most popular and charismatic, and the most must-see WWE Champion ever, because he's The Miz, and he's awesome.

Match #2: Natalya/Eve/Brie Bella vs. Melina/Maryse/Alicia Fox
This happened. Short, and useless. Nattie just about kills Melina with the Rolling Lariat, and then Eve hits the Siakalypse Now to win.
3/4*

Match #3: The Usos vs. Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov w/ Tamina

This was decent enough. Got 4 minutes. Vlad has some awesome power spots and matwork to start. Santino gets a hot tag, but one of the Usos beats him with the Samoan Drop.
*3/4

They take out the Usos post-match, and Santino and Tamina hit the DOUBLE COBRA.

CM Punk comes out, and he gets on the mic. He says he spent today looking for John Cena, but he can't see him! Because he's not here tonight, because of what he did. He brags about being a leader of men, which is probably why Nexus came to him and asked him to be their new leader. The footage airs again, and Punk says hustle, loyalty, and respect are words he lives his life by. He says it's a phony catchphrase for Cena, and he expects Cena to stay at home, because this is a fight that he cannot win. He says he's taking over Nexus and Raw, and Wade Barrett comes out. He says he's the one who injured Cena and he's not the leader of Nexus, but he is. Punk says Nexus needs new management, and Wade says Punk is a manipulative waste of skin, and he's the leader of Nexus. He calls the rest of Nexus down here to show who's in charge and Anon GM rings in. He books Wade vs. Orton vs. Sheamus in the #1 Contender's Cage Match later. Punk says if Wade wins, he'll prove that he's the Nexus leader, and he'll work for him, but if he loses, he challenges him to leave Nexus. Punk offers a handshake to seal it ,and Wade shakes his hand and says it's a deal.

Alberto Del Rio comes out and informs us of his name, but we already knew that. He says his destiny is to be the World Heavyweight Champion and to beat everyone on SD and Raw, and his destiny is to win the Royal Rumble. R-Truth comes out and says his destiny right now is to shut up and to go back where he came from. He challenges him to a match, and ADR accepts.

Match #4: Alberto Del Rio vs. R-Truth
Solid ADR showcase. It's mostly average arm work, and Truth's selling is fairly decent. ADR wins with the Cross Armbreaker.
**

In the back, Wade talks to Nexus. He says he's made stars out of all of them, and he made Heath and Justin into champions, and they can all be champions. Otunga asks why they can't work things out, and Wade says Punk is selfish and will use all of them for his own gain. Punk comes over and says they're all pulling for him tonight. Wade leaves, and Punk shakes all of the hands of the other members.

In the back, Scott interviews Orton, and he says he was too nice last year, and that was a mistake.

Match #5: Randy Orton vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett [#1 Contender's Steel Cage Match]
This is a total nothing match, since Orton sucks vs. both of these guys. Goes on WAY too long before the obvious, but also awesome ending. Barrett goes to climb, but is hurt. CM Punk runs down and up the cage to help him, BUT FUCK THAT SHIT, HE RIPS OFF THE NEXUS ARMBAND AND HE SHOVES HIM BACK DOWN LIKE HE'S FUCKING SCAR KILLING MUFASA! Orton ends up RKO'ing Sheamus to win. Whatevs.

TONIGHT: THE FIRST ELIMINATION!

Striker is on the stage with the rookies and reveals that the winner of NXT will get a tag title shot along with their Pro. They then have a Pro's Challenge in a battle royal, and the winner can trade their rookie if they want.

Match #1: Battle Royal
Pros are Ricardo Rodriguez taking ADR's spot, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Ted DiBiase, R-Truth, and Chris Masters. This is not awful, due to having probably 3 of the top 10 guys in WWE at the moment with Danielson, DOLF, and Masters. Only like 4 minutes though. Danielson gets RR with an Airplane Spin for about a minute before Truth throws Ricardo out. Danielson is out next from Dolph. :( Ted gets rid of Truth, and then Ziggler throws Masters and Ted out.
*3/4

Dolph demands a round of applause, and he trades Jacob Novak for Byron Saxton! Striker then books Saxton vs. Novak. Feel the excitement.

Match #2: Jacob Novak vs. Byron Saxton
Yeah, this blew. Novak is really awful, and he seems almost afraid to bump at points. Ziggler is great though, actually giving in-ring advice for maybe the first time in NXT history. Former Black ECW wins with a shitty Neckbreaker variant. Shitty Neckbreaker Variant is like the FCW version of the CHIKARA Special.
3/4*

RAW REBOUND

In the back, Danielson teaches Bateman about SUBMISSION WRESTLING. He says they should go on a double date with the Bellas, because they're also about chicks and America, and pulls down an American flag behind them.

It is now time for the BATTLE OF THE MIC. The first battle is Brodus vs. Curtis. Neither is amazing, but Curtis wins. Bateman vs. Saxton is next, and Bateman says Byron's voice killed ECW. Saxton bombs, and Bateman wins. Novak vs. Rat Boy is THE WORST. Rat Boy wins. The winners then have to insult each other. Curtis says he likes both men, as he's a fan of rats and Bateman's perm is amazing. Striker says he also loves rats. Bateman says Curtis looks like a sexual predator, and Rat Boy takes a shit on the mic. Curtis wins.

Match #3: Brodus Clay vs. Johnny Curtis
Short Brodus squash.
*

The elimination is up now AND IT'S JACOB NOVAK! YES! FUCK YOU!

Chris Masters vs. Curt Hawkins, Superstars (January 6th)
Only 4-5 minutes, but classic Masters formula. Hawkins is perfectly acceptable, and Masters sells the fuck out of his shoulder. Great comeback, etc. Cool finish too, as Masters catches Curt trying a springboard off the middle rope and pulls him out into the Masterlock for the win.
**1/4

Zack Ryder vs. Yoshi Tatsu, Superstars (January 6th)

Another real solid 5 minutes. Yoshi takes a pretty nasty bump to lead into the Ryder control seg. They do some stuff and Yoshi wins with the Roundhouse Kick.
**1/4

Daniel Bryan/Mark Henry vs. Tyson Kidd/Ted DiBiase, Superstars (January 6th)

Good stuff. Lots of MOK power spots early on, which are always good. Ted and Kidd aren't super impressive or anything, but they are a vessel for Danielson to have a great hot tag run. All really crisp and fiery stuff going on here. Kidd horribly beats Danielson with the Moss Covered Three Handled Family Credenza.

Match #1: Edge [c] vs. Kane [World Heavyweight Championship - Last Man Standing Match]

This sucked. Overlong Edge/Kane bullshit. I remember watching this episode when I had food poisoning, and I fell asleep for about half an hour during this. They waste at least half the match on shitty brawling in the back. Neither man can really throw great strikes apart from Kane's uppercut, which he doesn't throw here, so this should have been based around props. Then they go into the ring for some stuff and finally do actual weapon based stuff for the final 2-3 minutes. Edge hits the Spear and then a Conchairto to the knee, and that keeps Kane down for 10.
*3/4

TONIGHT: Rey vs. ADR in a Best of Three Falls match, Show vs. Cody vs. Drew in a #1 Contender's Match

Match #2: Dolph Ziggler [c] w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Kofi Kingston [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
SON OF A BITCH. This was another Dolph/Kofi match for 5 minutes. They've exhausted their match by this point. Admittedly, they don't have the same match every time, but after somewhere around 10 matches in the last 7-8 months, there's nothing new they can do. Horribly, Kofi wins the title with his Frogbody.
**1/4

Vickie gets on the mic and says Teddy is gone tonight, so she's in charge, and she orders a rematch.

Match #3: Kofi Kingston [c] vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
Kofi quickly hits the Trouble in Paradise to win, so this is barely a match.
Where is TNA Xplosion?

In the back, Vickie and Dolph argue and Dolph says maybe Vickie needs to find a new boyfriend if she can't fix this.

RAW REBOUND

In the back, Drew wishes Kelleh Kelleh good luck. She doesn't trust him and he says he understands that and again says the man he is in the ring is not a reflection of who he is outside the ring, and asks for her support tonight in his match, and she smiles like a robot and says sure and walks away.

All three come out for the #1 Contender's Match, but Vickie comes out and puts Ziggler in the match, and makes it No DQ!

Match #4: The Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero [#1 Contender's Match - No DQ]
This was surprisingly great. Everyone teams on Show and takes huge bumps for him, and he tries a lot too. There's a great Cody/Ziggler run at points too that shows a lot of potential for that pairing in the future. Show comes back at the end to kill people, but Wade Barrett runs out to attack him! Show is starting to get up, and Ziggler convinces Cody to team up with him against him. BUT AS SOON AS CODY TURNS AROUND, DOLPH HITS THE PEACE ZIG FOR THE WIN! YEAH!
***

Match #5: Michelle McCool w/ Layla vs. Kelly Kelly

This is about a minute before Michelle wins with the Styles Clash.
1/2*

They beat on Kelleh post-match, until Drew McIntyre comes out, and LayCool leaves.

Match #6: Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio [Best of Three Falls]
Really really disappointing for a blow off. ADR gets a quick Cross Armbreaker to go 1-0 in under 2 minutes. ADR sort of worked the arm, but did nothing special, and Rey proceeded to ignore it for the rest of the match. Rey wins with a roll up, and they did some good stuff in the 3rd fall. Ricardo holds Rey's leg from the floor when he tries to get back in, so ADR wins by count out.
**1/2

Rey then beats up Ricardo.

Santino and Vlad come out for a match, but the Nexus attacks them from behind, and lays them out. CM Punk gets on the mic, and he puts over his New Nexus, and says he understands John Cena is here to make a public statement, and unless it's a second and more final goodbye speech, he's not going to have a very good year. He says he is going to make the New Nexus go through an initiation to prove they belong, and he will also initiate himself. Otunga says they would be honored. Punk says McGillicutty is first, and his initiation is this, and they all beat him down. Gabriel and Slater have to be yelled at to attack him, and after Punk hits the GTS, they all carry him to the back. Lawler says this is the strangest thing in Raw history.

Match #1: Alberto Del Rio vs. R-Truth
This is under 90 seconds, and a total nothing match. Ricardo distracts Truth on the floor and ADR again wins by count out.
3/4*

ADR lays Truth out on the floor, and he says Americans know nothing about music. He says country music is boring and makes Ricardo sing "La Cucaracha". Fuck yeah, Ricardo!

At the table, Cole and Lawler argue about The Miz. Cole tells him to apologize, and Anon GM rings in. He says Cole is great and lists all of his awards. Lawler says Cole is a coward, much like The Miz. Anon GM says Michael Cole is not a coward, and books Orton/Lawler vs. Miz/Riley tonight.

In the back, Punk makes Husky take three lashes from leather straps from Otunga, Slater, and Gabriel.

Match #2: Daniel Bryan/Mark Henry vs. Tyson Kidd/Ted DiBiase
The Bellas and Maryse are at ringside. This is only about 3 minutes, but is pretty good stuff. Henry beats Kidd with the World's Strongest Slam.
**

The Big Show comes out, and gives an overlong speech about how he's going to knock out Wade Barrett this Friday night, and then he was going to win the Royal Rumble in three weeks. CM Punk and New Nexus come out to the stage, and Punk orders Otunga to the ring. He punches Show and stands there as Show kills him with the WMD, and Punk, Gabriel, and Slater leave.

A recap of Miz/JoMo airs.

Match #3: John Morrison vs. Sheamus
Same stuff I said about Ziggler/Kofi applies here, just not as much. They've peaked against each other, having a good match, a great match, and then an absolutely classic match against each other, so this feels like a repeat. It's hardly a bad match though, because they do have good chemistry. Still, this felt like a house show match after their previous efforts. Morrison wins with the Jimmy Rave Knee.
**3/4

In the back, Punk tells Gabriel and Slater to beat each other with kendo sticks as their initiation, but they refuse and walk out on him.

HALL OF FAME, CLASS OF 2011: SHAWN MICHAELS! Ugh. I mean, yeah, he deserves to go in for his 1995-1998 output and putting on at least one really good match a year from 2003 to 2010 (despite then taking shits in the ring for most of the year apart from those), but he's hardly so great that he deserves to go in the year after retiring. Same bullshit with Edge this year. Which makes sense, as both guys would be classified as having all-time great careers, rather than being all-time great wrestlers.

So yeah, basically the WWE hype machine is finally going into the Hall of Fame!

Shawn comes out to accept, and ADR comes back out. He introduces himself, but you already knew that. He talks about Shawn being retired, DESTINY~, etc. He says he will win the Rumble and become the new Mr. WrestleMania, so Shawn Superkicks him and wears his scarf.

In the back, Miz gives A-Ri a speech about wanting to hurt and demoralize Orton and Lawler, doing the whole faux-badass schtick.

Michael Cole is in the ring, and he introduces John Cena, but CM Punk's voice cuts him off, and he's on top of the tron. He talks about making a sacrifice and asks if he should dive off the tron. Everyone cheers and he reveals a harness and he mocks everyone for thinking he would jump. Really lame segment.

Coming back, Punk and the other three Nexus members are in the ring. He keeps laughing at everyone and says he is mentally superior. Punk says Cena is no longer here, but Cena shows up on the tron. Cena calls Punk a gutless and delusional phony, and he is live via satellite. Cena is mad that he's wasting time, and he says there's one member of Nexus that he hasn't gotten to initiate himself, and that's CM SUCKS. LAWL. Cena challenges him to a match next week, and Punk accepts. Cena says everything Punk's said about him, they're right. When provoked, he's the most physical and violent man in the WWE, and that means that next week, he gets dealt with.

Match #4: Randy Orton/Jerry Lawler vs. The Miz/Alex Riley
Shockingly good, due to Lawler's work. Awesome punches, and then he was a pretty solid FIP. Miz looked decent on offense, and they mostly kept A-Ri out of there. Orton works much better as hot tag, since it requires him to only his his big offense and be in for a few minutes. Lawler gets back in at the end, and he beats A-Ri with the Flying Fistdrop.

Striker is with the rookies on the stage and says another elimination is next week. Fuck yeah, let's get Ratboy out of there next, or Byron Saxton. They have a slingshot by the ring and the Pros are in the ring to slingshot t-shirts at them, under the guise that you have to work well with your Pro to win the tag titles. Truth can't slingshot for shit, so Curtis gets 0. Saxton gets 1. Bateman gets 2! Maryse shoots shirts for Ted, since Ted can't do anything. Ted takes over and Maryse throws shirts at him to mess him up. They get 0. Matt tries to make football puns, but Josh keeps shitting on him. Ratboy gets 2 as well, but didn't catch it before time expired, so Bateman wins! Bateman runs in and picks Danielson up in his arms like a bride and yells "USA!" over and over again.

In the back, Ricardo is on the phone with someone, and subtitles say he has a rat problem.

Match #1: Conor O'Brien vs. Byron Saxton
Horrible match. Goes on like 10 minutes, and is super awkward. He wins with a lame looking Uranage.
3/4*

Ricardo is not pleased at having to announce Conor as the winner.

In the back after Raw, DB Squared is preparing for the double date. Bateman has a jacket and tie on, but then is wearing US Flag pants and a fanny pack. He says he got them on Bad St. in Atlanta. Daniel says to just be himself, and Bateman says he's the master of all wingmen and he will dive on the grenade tonight. Daniel asks which Bella is a grenade and he says time tells all things. He says he's a ladies man and to ask Bryan's mom to verify it. He pulls out two sunflowers and says it's game time.

The rookies are back on the stage for a game of Password. Curtis and Truth get 2. Saxton and Ziggler get 2 also. DB SQUARED~ is up now. They get 3, and Bateman randomly yells out STEVE BLACKMAN when they get the high score. Best pairing in NXT history. Ted, Maryse, and Brodus are up next. Maryse is mad that they're not shopping and keeps interrupting Ted with the names of fashion designers. I love NXT, holy shit. ADR and Conor are next. People boo, and Dolph boos too, but then changes to "El Booooooo". AMAZING. They get 1, and Bateman keeps yelling Steve Blackman. DB SQUARED WINS IT! YEAH!

Shawn's HOF video. Fart.

We now go to footage from the date and the Bellas keep fawning over Daniel. Bateman says Brie is the name of his second favorite cheese, right after goat. The Bellas argue and they spill champagne on Bateman's amazing pants. He freaks out and flips the table over. He pulls out a large plastic bag of quarters and hands it to Bryan and says that should cover it, and he storms off. Bryan hands the Bellas the bag and says he should go check on his friend. The Bellas then blame each other for the date ending horribly.

Match #2: Johnny Curtis vs. Ted DiBiase w/ Maryse
Ted actually looked good here. Curtis isn't amazing, but he at least has his basics down and isn't embarrassing himself like Saxton or Conor. Maryse distracts the ref so Brodus can interfere, but Truth cuts him off and Curtis rolls up Ted for the win.

Chris Masters/JTG vs. Curt Hawkins/Chavo Guerrero, Superstars (January 13th)
Masters is great again, but he's hardly in, and everyone is basically the living embodiment of slightly above average. Control seg on JTG goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long though, and drags this all the way down. Awesome hot tag from Masters, and he gets the Masterlock on Chavo to win. Needed like 85% more Masters.
*3/4

William Regal/Zack Ryder/The Usos vs. Yoshi Tatsu/David Hart Smith/Primo/Darren Young, Superstars (January 13th)

This is quite solid. Pretty much everyone gets to shine here, and nobody got enough time to look bad or anything. Guys like Regal and Yoshi obviously looked better than the Usos and DH Smith, but that's to be expected. There's quite a good control seg on DH's knee. Big hot tag by Primo, and then Yoshi gets in to beat Ryder with the Roundhouse Kick once again.

TONIGHT: Show vs. MWAY, DOLF on the Cutting Edge

ADR comes out to open the show and does the whole DESTINY~ shtick. R-Truth then comes out and says he's not going to win the Rumble just because he has nice cars and his own announcer. Cody Rhodes comes out and says he's going to win. Rey Mysterio comes out and does the same, and T'Lo comes out. TAG TEAM MATCH PLAYA.

Match #1: Rey Mysterio/R-Truth vs. Alberto Del Rio/Cody Rhodes
This was above average. Rey and Cody continue to work really well together. The heels have a fine control segment on Truth. Basic offense, but it all looks good. Rey has a great hot tag, and hits Cody with the 619 and Penguin Splash for the win.
**3/4

Cody holds his face in pain after the match.

A horrible video airs of JTG giving thoughts on recent events. Which consists of him holding up a sign saying "YA KILLIN ME, SON" and then yelling DEUCES at the end.

In the back, Wade says he only goes after the biggest and the baddest, because anyone less than that is a waste of his time, so what he did to Big Show was him showing him respect.

Match #2: Drew McIntyre vs. Trent Baretta
Great 3 minutes. Drew really beats the fuck out of Trent, and Trent takes some killer bumps, before getting a roll up to win after a bit of offense.
**1/4

In the back, Drew attacks Trent, but sees KELLEH watching and says he was just asking for a rematch.

Match #3: The Big Show vs. Wade Barrett
This is all of 90 seconds, so this doesn't have time to be either good or bad. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater come out to attack Show for the DQ.
3/4*

It is a 3 on 1, and then Ezekiel Jackson comes out! Wade and Slabriel all back up, BUT FUCK THAT SHIT, MOTHERFUCKING ZEKE JUST SLAMS BIG SHOW LIKE IT AIN'T NO THING. JESUS CHRIST. Zeke leaves with the three heels.

Match #4: Beth Phoenix vs. Michelle McCool w/ Layla
They get 4-5 minutes, so this was good work. Beth has some fun power spots, Michelle has good work on the knee, and the finishing run is good. Michelle gets out of the Slam Slam and tries a Victory Roll, but Beth rolls through that into her own Victory Roll for the win.
**

Shawn's hype video. *jerking off hand motion*

In the back, Dolph apologizes to Vickie for what he said last week, and they kiss and make up.

Match #5: Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger
Hey, this sucked! This is like the midcard version of Triple H vs. Kane, in that they run this in some form all the time, and it's never ever good. Shitty Kofi offense on the comeback, boring ass Swagger control seg as he works a body part that Kofi refuses to sell. Kofi wins with his shitty version of the Ranhei.
*3/4

The Cutting Edge is up next, and he brings out Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero. Edge insults Vickie and Dolph says they don't need to take this. Edge says it's not like he said Vickie snores and makes fat jokes. Vickie says she and Edge used to be married and says she was young and naive and she regrets it every day. Edge says she's wearing a cougar necklace and it was only like 2 years ago. Ziggler says she's gone from no class to first class, and Edge doesn't appreciate all she did for him, and she handed him like half of those World Titles. Vickie says their love is pure and it doesn't matter what he says. Amazing. She shows a clip of Edge fucking Alicia Fox at the Edge/Vickie wedding. Edge shows footage of Dolph nailing Kaitlyn. Fuck yeah Dolph. AND DOLPH CHEAP SHOTS EDGE! FUCK YOU EDGE! He beats him down on the floor and hits the PEACE ZIG INTO THE STEPS! YEAH! Dolph and Vickie make out over Edge to end the show.

TONIGHT: Cena vs. Punk

John Cena comes out to open the show and says tonight, he's going to give CM Punk the beating he's had coming for about a month now, and after he deals with him and the New Nexus once and for all, he's entering the Royal Rumble and going to WrestleMania to win the WWE Title. The Miz and Alex Riley come out and he's all like REALLY?! Miz says the odds are against him, since it's now a 40 man Royal Rumble. He says whoever wins the Rumble should go for the World Title, so they don't end up like Orton will at the Rumble. Cena says he's not buying that, since both Orton and Jerry Lawler should have beaten him for that title if not for Cole and Riley. Miz says he can outwrestle the greatest technicians to hold this belt, outfight the toughest brawlers to hold it, and he'll hold it longer than anyone. Cena says he can't wait to fight Orton for the title at Mania, which should have happened at least 2 times by now. CM Punk comes onto the stage with New Nexus and says Miz doesn't have to answer to Cena, because he would be facing him at WrestleMania, since he and all of the New Nexus would be entering the Royal Rumble, and with the numbers in his favor, there was no chance of him losing. They go to give a preview, but Cena fights them, and Santino and Vlad come out with chairs to make sure they don't come back in. Anon GM comes out and says every member of the New Nexus is barred from ringside in Punk/Cena, and anyone who defies him is out of the Rumble!

TONIGHT: Orton vs. Ziggler

Match #1: Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov [c] w/ Tamina vs. The Usos [WWE Unified Tag Team Championship]
This is fine enough. The Usos no longer suck out loud, and Vlad is awesome again. Santino does his deal at the end and wins with the Cobra.
*3/4

In the back, the New Nexus looks down, but CM Punk just smiles and says "Faith."

A video airs on John Morrison. Credit to everyone involved, they've actually made it seem like he's a guy who could win the Rumble. If they were in more of a risk-taking mindset at this point, I think he would have. There's something so endearing about a guy with all his potential FINALLY putting everything together.

Match #2: John Morrison vs. Daniel Bryan w/ The Bella Twins
This gets like 4 minutes, unfortunately, but it is a ton of fun. Almost nothing but awesome counters and spots. Morrison wins with the Jimmy Rave Knee.
**1/2

Sheamus comes onto the stage and says neither of them are as important of them, and he would toss both of them out of the Rumble en route to winning it.

In the back, the Bellas argue over who will be Daniel's first. They shake hands and make a wager on it. God damnit.

Match #3: Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero
Really good Ziggler carryjob. Huge bumping, amazing offense, really just channeling Orton's babyface talents (good comeback, super over) into a great sub 10 minute match. They'd do better in 2011 iirc, but this was still really awesome. Orton catches Dolph as he jumps for the Peace Zig and hits the RKO to win.
**3/4

Miz and Riley attack Orton from behind in the ring. Miz does his whole badass routine that is kind of a flop, throwing Orton through the timekeeper's barricade, and he gets down on the floor next to Randy with a really rapey face on, and says that he is awesome.

Eve and Melina both come out to do commentary.

Match #4: Natalya vs. Maryse
Brief Nattie squash. Sharpshooter does the job.
1/4*

Maryse is mad post-match, and Ted Jr. comes out to calm her down. She calls him a loser and Ted gets on the mic. He says she doesn't think he can win the Rumble and nobody else does, and he challenges someone to come and try to toss him out. AND MOK COMES OUT! YEAH! MOK easily dispatches of him. The rest of the Raw Midcard comes out for an impromptu and really short battle royal, and MOK gets rid of them all. AND THEN SHEAMUS COMES OUT! FUCK YEAH MOK VS. SHEAMUS! AND MARK HENRY THROWS SHEAMUS OUT TOO! FUCK YEAH!

ADR then comes out and says it is his destiny to win the Rumble, etc.

Make-a-Wish video.

Match #5: John Cena vs. CM Punk
Incredible match, as these two set out in 2011 to have the best series of matches in a single calendar year since Joe/Punk in 2004. Cena has some amazing body blows early on, and yeah. Not super amazing or anything, but the best possible Raw main event. Everything is really tight, they have some cool spots, and have some nice subtle character work. I've written before about how the best Cena matches really establish that the key to beating him is not allowing him distance. Best example is the Orton match at SummerSlam 2007. It's a defining trait of all the great Aces. Misawa always could pull an elbow out of his ass when he was given distance. With Bret, it was more about him being able to come up with a game plan if you didn't stay on him. Same principle is what happens here, and they do a great job of teasing what eventually happens, as any time the momentum turns, it's because of that whole distance thing, establishing Punk really subtly as Cena's equal. Cena hardly has him beat when the fuck finish happens, Punk's actually in control when it happens. Mason Ryan comes out and gets in, and Punk presents himself. Mason kicks him in the face, and it allows Punk to win by DQ!
***1/4

The rest of Nexus comes out to protect Punk, but he shoves them off and gets up. Mason gets down on bended knee in front of Punk, and he salutes Punk in the New Nexus style. Punk puts a Nexus arm band on him, and they all celebrate.

WWE NXT
January 18th, 2011
Tulsa, OK

Striker brings out all the Pros and Rookies, and the Rookies get in the ring. He hypes up the elimination and says Bateman has immunity points. The challenge is How Well Do You Know Your Pro? for 4 points. Striker asks the pros to write down one word to sum up their first impressions of their rookies. Truth wrote cool, but Curtis guessed impressive. Ziggler wrote "Carlton from Fresh Prince", and Saxton guessed "tan". Fucking moron. Bateman guesses "THE GREAT CITY OF TULSA, OKLAHOMA", AND THAT'S WHAT DANIEL BRYAN WROTE DOWN! THIS IS THE GREATEST PAIRING! WHY WAS THIS NOT A THING THROUGHOUT ALL OF 2011!? Who even cares, because Bateman obviously wins this. As soon as NXT stopped being on TV and people high up in WWE stopped paying attention, it got AMAZING.

Match #1: Chris Masters vs. Byron Saxton
Masters does what he can with this sack of shit. Takes some big bumps, leans into all his strikes, and then also has all his great offense. Masters wins with the Masterlock.
**

Match #2: Daniel Bryan/Derrick Bateman vs. Ted DiBiase/Brodus Clay w/ Maryse

Good stuff. Danielson sells a ton for Brodus, and Brodus looks real good on offense. Ted tries to pick up the scraps, and then he yells at Brodus on the apron. Brodus walks out on him and says he's the worst pro ever, so Bateman rolls Ted up for the win!
**1/4

Maryse can't stop laughing on the floor.

In the back, Ratface finds a trail of cheese leading to Ricardo, who sprays rat spray or something at his face. It's obviously not poison, because he'd be dead or something. They have a horrible fight before ADR breaks it up and makes them have a match.

RAW REBOUND

Match #3: Ricardo Rodriguez vs. Conor O'Brien
SON OF A BITCH, CONOR IS FROM GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN. FUCK. Ricardo's stooging is absolutely amazing and makes this one hell of a comedy match. Conor accidentally hits an exposed buckle, AND RICARDO WINS! AMAZING!
Ten Million Stars

The elimination is up to end the show, and Bateman is immune. Striker asks him who should be gone, and Bateman says it's Byron, because his face is awful. AND CONOR O'BRIEN IS GONE! YEAH!

Chris Masters vs. Curt Hawkins, Superstars (January 20th)
Real good for 3 minutes, once again. Lots of great Masters strikes and he wins with the Masterlock.
*3/4

Zack Ryder/Primo vs. David Hart Smith/Darren Young, Superstars (January 20th)

Primo is now randomly a heel again. Primo and Zack make a really fantastic team. As fun as the Ziggler/Ryder feud had been, I wish the Zack/Primo team had gotten a longer run. The faces are generally solid but not flashy at all. They sell well and all their stuff looks good. Zack and Primo have a great control seg. Darren has a decent hot tag, and Zack hits the Ruff Ryder to win.
**1/2

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Tyson Kidd, Superstars (January 20th)

Due to having a lot of focus and a story behind basic structure, this is great. They have some great matwork and fast paced stuff to begin, and Kidd targets the knee. He does some impressively great knee work, and Yoshi's selling is genuinely great. Really an eye opening match for both men. Yoshi's selling is so great that it means he can't throw kicks of climb up top fast, but he's able to pull Kidd down from the Sharpshooter set-up into a cradle to win.

WWE Smackdown
January 21st, 2011
Tulsa, OK

Wade Barrett comes out to open the show and shows footage of him and his group beating down The Big Show. He introduces his group of Zeke, Gabriel, and Slater, and calls them the Corre. T'Lo says he's all for talented guys coming over to Smackdown, but they will play within the rules. Wade says they were here to represent Smackdown in the Rumble, and says they are all equals in the Corre. ADR then comes out and welcomes them to Smackdown, but he says he will win the Rumble because it is his destiny. Great contribution as always.

Match #1: Alberto Del Rio vs. R-Truth
God damnit. Once again, this is generally fine, but not impressive at all. During the match, Teddy Long is found laid out in his office. Michael Tarver is there on his phone. THE ANGEL OF DEATH IS UPON US. Anyways, ADR wins again with the Cross Armbreaker.
**

ROYAL RUMBLE BY THE NUMBERS.

TONIGHT: Rey vs. Cody

In the back, Vickie and Ziggler are in the office as Teddy is stretchered out. The Corre comes in and Wade says they weren't behind this and they volunteer to help find who did it or to help her in any way. Vickie then books one of them vs. Edge later on, and says they can decide which one it is.

Match #2: Beth Phoenix vs. Layla w/ Michelle McCool
Another really fun Beth/LayCool match. This is only 3 minutes instead of 5, so it's not as great, but it's still a lot of fun. Beth wins with the Glam Slam.
*3/4

STAND UP FOR WWE.

Match #3: Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
Cody comes in selling his face, so this is when the feud really begins. It's a damn shame that this is only 4 minutes, but these two work SO well together, and it's the best sub-5 minute match of the year, probably. Both men take big bumps, and Rey hits the 619 and Penguin Splash to beat Cody.
**1/2

Post-match, Cody is helped by medics, and is holding his face.

In the back, Cody is being tended to by the trainers. He holds his face away from the camera and yells that his nose is broken.

In the back, The Miz and A-Ri show up.

Match #4: Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger [3 Minute Amateur Wrestling Challenge]
This was obviously horrible. Swagger wins 10-9.
Shark Pussy

Swagger is mad about Kofi almost winning, and he attacks him. Kofi hits the Trouble in Paradise though.

A recap airs of The Cutting Edge last week.

Match #5: Drew McIntyre vs. Trent Baretta
Really awesome 2 minute squash from Drew. He wins with the Future Shock.
**

Drew actually tries a handshake post-match, but Trent knocks him out of the ring. Drew then attacks him, until KELLEH comes out and makes him stop by yelling at him. She then checks on Trent. What the fuck? Drew tried to do the right thing. Kelly says she doesn't want to be around people who take pleasure in harming others. THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU A WRESTLER?

The Miz and A-Ri come out, and they brag about laying out Randy Orton on Raw. They show the footage, and Miz says he's heard that on Raw, there's going to be a Champion vs. Champion match with him vs. Edge, which is the worst idea of 2011 so far. Edge comes out and says Miz is wasting everyone's time, and says to get off of his show. Miz says he's going to do the same thing to Edge on Monday. Edge Spears A-Ri, and Miz quickly leaves.

Vickie and Dolph come out to do commentary on the main event.

Match #6: Edge vs. Justin Gabriel w/ The Corre
This is not bad. Ziggler is amazing on commentary once more. This basically exists to put the Corre over as a unit, which is a noble goal that will eventually get abandoned. The best part of the Corre is gradually listening to "End of Days" get better every week or so before it becomes the incredible theme that it was from the summer on. Gabriel has a decent control seg. Zeke Lariats Edge from the apron, and Gabriel covers to win!
**

The Corre does their gang beatdown on Edge, and then they leave. Ziggler comes in and puts his foot on Edge's chest to end the show.

WWE Raw
January 24th, 2011
Detroit, MI

TONIGHT: Edge vs. The Miz

Edge comes out to open the show, and he calls out Miz to have their match right now. Anon GM rings in, and Edge says it's his old friend, the Anonymous GM. Cole reads it, and Edge calls him a tool. Anon GM says Edge will now be in an over the top rope challenge, since he wants to fight, and whoever tosses him out is #40 in the Rumble.

Match #1: Edge vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Jack Swagger vs. Drew McIntyre [Over The Top Rope Challenge]
This is all of a minute before Edge throws them all out. Fuck you.
Why is this a thing?

Edge says he's now going to destroy the laptop again, but the New Nexus comes out. CM Punk says the strong survive because they evolve, and the New Nexus survived because they evolved with him as leader, and he introduces the newest member, Mason Ryan. Punk says he's going to win the Royal Rumble, throwing out Cena, and they would eliminate the poor man's Nexus from Smackdown. The Corre then comes out and Wade says en route to one of them winning the Rumble, they would make sure CM Punk is eliminated. Zeke and Mason go face to face, but Anon GM rings in. He books Punk vs. Wade tonight, and says the loser is out of the Rumble, and brings out John Cena as the guest referee!

Match #2: John Morrison/Mark Henry vs. Sheamus/Alberto Del Rio
The face team is awesome here. Morrison is a fine face in peril, and MOK has a great hot tag. Sheamus especially shined in the control seg. The Angel of Death is watching in the back. Morrison has an awesome dive to Sheamus, and then in a piece of total bullshit, ADR makes MOK tap to the Jujigatame. Wrestling is fake, everybody.
**3/4

Match #3: Natalya [c] vs. Melina [WWE Divas Championship]

Fun match. Melina gets stretched a lot, and Nattie wins with the most amazingly disgusting Sharpshooter ever.
**

LayCool comes out and Michelle says they finally get their rematch at the Rumble, and it was going to be FLAWLESS.

A recap airs of Punk/Cena last week.

In the back, Punk talks to New Nexus and says they all must make sacrifices tonight and in the Rumble.

In the back, John Cena cuts a John Cena Promo. Miz and A-Ri interrupt and do an amazing fake laugh at a poop joke. Miz says if anyone from Raw wins the Rumble, it will be a horrible decision because they would then lose in the main event of WrestleMania, just like Edge is going to lose right now. Cena challenges him to beat him up right now, and Miz says he's not doing it now.

Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler come out to do commentary again.

Match #4: Edge vs. The Miz w/ Alex Riley
Well, this sucked. Drags on forever, without really either doing anything interesting. Miz works the ribs of Edge, but he doesn't sell at all. Some obvious spot calling and strikes with a ton of daylight. Just a bad match, and they didn't click at all. Ziggler attacks Edge for the DQ.
*3/4

Ziggler and Miz beat on Edge, and Randy Orton runs out to save. Dolph and A-Ri eat RKOs, but Miz bails out.

Match #5: Daniel Bryan/The Bella Twins vs. Ted DiBiase/Maryse/Alicia Fox
Waste of Danielson, but him vs. Ted is decent. For 30 seconds, and then Alicia rolls up one of the Bellas to win. Why even do this?
1/2*

In the back, the Bellas argue about Daniel, but they go to the locker room and see him kissing Gail Kim. He says he's been dating Gail for a while and wanted to keep it a secret. Gail says he's been hanging out with them because he felt sorry for them since they had nothing to do. Catfight ensues.

ON SMOCKDAWN: MIZ/DOLPH VS. RATED RKO

Match #6: Michael McGillicutty/Husky Harris vs. Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov
Otunga, Mason, and Tamina are there. This was short and useless, and for some horrible reason, Husky is now using a fucking Flatliner as a finish, and it beats Santino.
3/4*

Otunga then introduces Punk for the main event.

Match #7: CM Punk vs. Wade Barrett [Loser is out of the Rumble - Special Referee: John Cena]
Cena ejects both factions from ringside to start. This is all about Cena abusing his authority and they have a decent 2 minutes before Cena throws the match out for excessive language use, since it's a PG show. Goddamnit.
*1/2

Cena tries to say they're both out of the Rumble, but Anon GM rings in and says both are still in and makes Cena apologize. He apologizes and then they fight. The roster runs down. SHOW. ENDING. BRAWL.

Striker is with everyone in the ring and says there will be a four way tonight, and if the rookie who wins wants, he can swap his Pro. He then shows footage of Bateman handing Danielson his answers for the challenge last week. Daniel asks if this is cheating and Bateman says NXT barely has rules at all. Bateman will be penalized in the next challenge. OH, COME ON! BOOOOOOOOO! They play the trivia game, and Bateman has 10 seconds less than anyone else to answer. Bateman has it won, but Fucking Striker tries to claim the first HIAC match wasn't at Bad Blood.

Match #1: Daniel Bryan vs. Ted DiBiase
This is great! They've given Ziggler a live mic on the stage, so he chimes in at points in the match. Maryse tries to sabotage Ted by flirting with Josh, and signs his rundown sheet and kisses his cheek. FUCK YEAH JOSH! This is a lot better than the Survivor Series match, as Danielson gets time to work a long section of matwork. Ted's really starting to look good as he has more and more matches with Danielson. Ziggler yells at the crowd for cheering for Danielson and says he doesn't need their help. Ted works on the neck, and Danielson's selling is incredible. Bryan makes a super fiery comeback and yeah. Ted gets a forearm to cut off the Tope Suicida, and he hits Dream Street for the big upset.
***

ROYAL RUMBLE BY THE NUMBERS.

Match #2: Brodus Clay vs. Derrick Bateman vs. Johnny Curtis vs. Byron Saxton
Decent stuff. Saxton is the only one of them who looks outright bad. Brodus beats Curtis with a Tongan Death Grip STO.
**

Ted and Maryse congratulate them. Striker asks if he's going to switch. Brodus says his pro is rich, classy, and he's going to win the Royal Rumble, AND HIS NEW PRO IS ALBERTO DEL RIO! YEAH! BRODUS! AND BRODUS LAYS OUT TED WITH THE TONGAN STO! FUCK YEAH!

Zack Ryder/Primo vs. Yoshi Tatsu/David Hart Smith, Superstars (January 27th)
Good stuff once again. Yoshi delivers on a lot of cool offense, and DH is acceptable as a face in peril. Zack and Primo have some good offense and teamwork. Yoshi has a great hot tag of kicks and shit, but Zack causes a distraction and Primo wins with the Lungblower. I'm disappointed he's using that move, but it at least means he's winning matches.

WWE Smackdown
January 28th, 2011
Cincinatti, OH

This is one of the 3 or 4 episodes of SD that have not finished downloading yet. I waited for it overnight, but fuck it, it's not done yet.

Smackdown! - 1/28/11 - featured an opening in-ring promo by Vickie Guerrero in which she said, due to the injuries he sustained the previous week, Teddy Long would not be at the show and she would take over the duties of general manager; moments later, Randy Orton interrupted, said he appreciated being invited to the show and would take the WWE World Title from Mike Mizanin at the Royal Rumble; Dolph Ziggler eventually came out as Orton continued to intimidate Vickie, and told him to show Vickie and himself proper respect; Orton followed by saying Ziggler would have to earn respect, then dropping him with the RKO; included Todd Grisham conducting a backstage interview with Cody Rhodes, who refused to show his face, regarding the facial injury he sustained the previous week at the hands of Rey Mysterio Jr., with Rhodes saying he had a broken nose, would require reconstructive surgery, and has been told by doctors not to compete in the Royal Rumble match; Rhodes went on to say a fan heckled him on his way into the arena and said he wasn't dashing anymore, with Rhodes then saying he agreed; featured Jack Korpela conducting a backstage interview with World Heavyweight Champion Edge regarding the attack he sustained the previous week at the hands of Corre and his match later in the night; included a backstage segment in which Alberto Del Rio introduced himself to Michael Tarver; featured a "Did you know?" graphic which read more people attended live events in 2010 than the SuperBowl, NBA Finals, World Series, Stanley Cup, and X Games combined; included an ad promoting The Best of Raw 2010; featured a video package recapping the history of the Royal Rumble match; included a "Did you know?" graphic which read Smackdown had its largest audience ever the previous week, continuing its reign as the #1 show on SyFy:

Michelle McCool & Layla defeated Kelly Kelly & Kaitlyn at the 41-second mark when McCool pinned Kaitlyn with a boot to the face as Kaitlyn fought with Layla on the apron (Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray)

Drew McIntyre pinned JTG at 4:37 with the Future Shock after blocking a backslide; Kelly Kelly sat ringside for the duration of the bout; after the contest, Kelly came into the ring as McIntyre left ringside (Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray)

WWE IC Kofi Kingston won an impromptu mini Royal Rumble by eliminating both Alberto Del Rio and Kane at 2:42; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio's ring announcer for the match; prior to the bout, Del Rio cut an in-ring promo saying he had 39 wrestlers from all over the world backstage and he would prove he was destined to win the 2011 Royal Rumble by winning an exhibition match over those men; order of entry: Seth Allen (0:00); Mike Stevens (0:46); Kane (1:37); Kingston (2:37); order of elimination: Allen by Del Rio (0:21); Stevens by Del Rio (1:10; off camera); Del Rio & Kane by Kingston; after the contest, Del Rio & Kane surrounded Kingston in the ring until Rey Mysterio Jr. ran out to even the odds; moments later, Vickie Guerrero came out to the entrance stage and ordered the four men to compete in a tag team match (Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray)

Rey Mysterio Jr. & WWE IC Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Alberto Del Rio & Kane at 15:39 when Kingston pinned Del Rio with the spin kick to the face after Kane kicked his partner in the face and walked off, with Mysterio then hitting the 619 on Del Rio (Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray)

The Big Show pinned Heath Slater (w/ Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, & Ezekiel Jackson) in an impromptu match at 1:17 with the chokeslam; prior to the bout, Show cut an in-ring promo in which he said he had never won the Rumble but would do so Sunday, then commented on the Corre before Barrett, Gabriel, Slater, & Jackson surrounded the ring; after the contest, Show fought off Barrett and Gabriel but was taken down by a clothesline from Jackson; moments later, Chris Masters, WWE US Champion Daniel Bryan, WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov ran out and eventually helped clear the ring (Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray)

Randy Orton & World Heavyweight Champion Edge defeated WWE World Champion Mike Mizanin (w/ Alex Riley) & Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) at 11:26 when Edge pinned Ziggler with the spear after avoiding the Zig Zag; prior to the bout, Miz cut an in-ring promo in which he said Orton dropping Ziggler with the RKO earlier in the show means nothing because he was still the WWE World Champion and remain such after the Royal Rumble; after the contest, Vickie took the mic and said she was banning the spear as a move and if Edge used it at the Royal Rumble he would lose the title; moments later, Edge hit the move again, knocking Ziggler off the apron to the floor; he then hit in a third time on the floor, then a fourth when he tried to give it to Vickie but she moved out of the way at the last moment (Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray)

WWE ROYAL RUMBLE 2011
JANUARY 30TH, 2011
BOSTON, MA

Match #1: Edge [c] vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero [World Heavyweight Championship - Spear Is Banned]

Ziggler tries his best, but this is not quite great. They go into Edge's habit of blatantly killing time to start, and then it winds up going too long in the finishing run. Ziggler has his usual amazing control seg with a roughly 7.5/10 Ortonlock, and then bumps huge on Edge's comeback. Good finishing run, but Edge is clearly more comfortable basing his finishing runs around the Spear. They had this great 10 minute match in late 2010 that showed the potential for a great match, but then they tacked on 5-10 more minutes than this needed and added the stupid stipulation. Makes sense as a story, but it drags the match down from what it could have been. KELLEH comes out to stop Vickie's interference, and when the ref is down, Edge hits the Spear. He then hits Dolph with the Killswitch as the ref gets up to win.
**3/4

WRESTLEMANIA 27: OH! WRITTEN IN THE STARS! 63 DAYS AWAY!

Hype video for Miz/Orton.

Match #2: The Miz [c] w/ Alex Riley vs. Randy Orton [WWE Championship]
This is already a pairing with negative chemistry, but having this also go 20 minutes was a HUGE mistake, and it came out awful. Really feels like they forgot to book other matches on the show and covered for the time by tacking on more time to the title matches. Which would be fine, except that the title matches involve 2011 Edge and Randy Orton and Orton/Miz. They structure it well and this really should be great, but they don't click at all. Cole is super awful as usual, hyping up all Miz's media stuff as the reason why he should be WWE Champion, when it's what a champion should do. I'd normally say it's great heel work, but it's well established now that Cole is a surrogate for Vince. New Nexus comes out at the end with the ref down and Punk hits Orton with the GTS and Miz retains.
*3/4

Orton is mad post-match, and he throws A-Ri down onto the goons, but Punk is gone.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER: FEBRUARY 20TH!

They go over Cody's face injury and show footage.

The Divas Title match has Eve added to it, and it is now a four way.

Match #3: Natalya [c] vs. Eve vs. Michelle McCool vs. Layla [WWE Divas Championship]
This is about 5 minutes and is not bad, but nothing special either. LayCool and Nattie all look good. Lots of good bumps and offense. Horribly, Eve wins the belt with the Moonsault on Layla. What the fuck? Why?
*3/4

In the back, Danielson is interviewed, and he says he's going to main event his first ever WrestleMania. The Bella Twins go over to them and apologize for last week. They call Gail average, which is fair, and another fight happens and gets broken up.

OH! WRITTEN IN THE STARS! That's the second time they've aired that Mania hype video. Awesome job planning this show, guys.

ROYAL RUMBLE BY THE NUMBERS!

-He gets rid of Yoshi
-#12 is JTG
-JTG is JTG
-#13 is Michael McGillicutty
-He helps Punk and Husky
-He tosses JTG
-AND NEXUS TOSSES TED TOO! YES!
-#14 is Chris Masters
-Masters looks great as usual
-#15 is David Otunga
-AND THEY TOSS DANIELSON :(
-And Masters
-They toss JoMo too :(
-THEY ALSO GET RID OF MOK WHAT THE FUCK
-I get the point, but holy shit, they just cleared the Rumble of the guys who you need in there for long stretches to really carry it
-#16 is Tyler Reks, who is also quickly dispatched
-#17 is Vladimir Kozlov
-He is also ganged up on and eliminated
-#18 is R-Truth
-Same story
-#19 is The Great Khali
-He's the one to break the domination and he tosses Husky, instead of either of the future McGillibuddies
-God damnit
-Fuck everything
-#20 is Mason Ryan
-This thankfully enables Nexus to toss Khali
-Nexus props Punk up as the countdown happens
-#21 is BOOKER T!
-FUCK YEAH!
-"I'M MARKING OUT, BRO!" - Matt Striker, killing his career for good
-He gets dominated though and Mason tosses him
-#22 is John Cena
-And Cena eliminates all of Nexus
-Including Punk
-Yes, really
-Fuck this company
-There's still half the match left, what the fuck is up with that?
-#23 is Hornswoggle
-He sort of just hangs out
-#24 is Tyson Kidd
-Cena tosses him in under a minute after some Hornswoggle spots
-#25 is Heath Slater
-Same thing happens to him
-This has gotten awful in the last 2-3 minutes
-#26 is Kofi Kingston
-Kofi is horrible, but he at least stops the Hornswoggle/Cena run
#27 is Jack Swagger
-Kofi and Hornswoggle do a Double Boom Drop
-God damnit
-#28 is Sheamus
-He does something great for once and Brough Kicks Hornswoggle off the top to the floor
-#29 is Rey Mysterio
-Rey finally picks the pace up here
-And thankfully gets rid of Swagger
-#30 is Wade Barrett
-Kofi vs. Wade really blows
-#31 is Dolph Ziggler
-Probably a sign that 40 was excessive when they have to put the challengers for the night in there
-But Dolph brings it, which is nice, given that people in the ring at this point are hardly trying
-#32 is DIESEL! YEAH!
-#33 is DREW MCINTYRE! RUNNING TO THE RING TO TRY AND SAVE THE MATCH!
-#34 is Alex Riley
-Miz joins commentary and it makes Cole even more unbearable
-Wade eliminates Diesel
-#35 is The Big Show
-He tosses Drew and then Ziggler
-Fuck life
-#36 is Ezekiel Jackson
-Cena and Kofi toss A-Ri
-ZEKE GETS RID OF BIG SHOW! YES!
-#37 is Santino Marella
-He contributes nothing
-#38 is Alberto Del Rio
-This has pretty much sucked since Cena killed off New Nexus
-Real poor layout of this match
-#39 is Randy Orton
-He eliminates Kofi
-And Sheamus
-#40 is Kane
-KANE TOSSES ZEKE MOTHERFUCKER
-Kane Chokeslams everyone
-Kane does lots of shit, but Rey somehow gets rid of him with a Headscissors deal
-Wade then kicks Rey off the apron

-FINAL FOUR: Cena, Orton, Wade, ADR
-They try to do the 2001 spot where the #1 and #2 face square off to a HUGE response, but nobody really gives a shit
-Comedy spot of the night, whether it was intentional or not
-Miz gets involved, and he pulls Cena over the top and to the floor!
-Orton tosses Wade
-ADR then tosses out Orton too
-BUT SANTINO IS BACK IN! YEAH!
-SANTINO ALMOST DOES IT FUCK YEAH
-But then ADR eliminates him
-Meh

AMAZING first half. Some of the better exchanges and spots in Rumble history. Layout fucked this over though, as they eliminated most of the workhorse type guys and tried to follow a huge workrate section with Hornswoggle comedy and generic guys brawling for the last 20 minutes. ADR winning is whatever. I still haven't been impressed by him at this point, on an in-ring level. I sort of like him now, so he has grown on me, but at this point, nah.

Providence, RI

TONIGHT: Edge vs. The Miz in the rematch that nobody demanded

Alberto Del Rio's victory celebration opens the show, with all the pinatas and dancers and mariachi band members, who he says only play for the Mexican President and him. DESTINY~ and all that. The Miz and A-Ri come out, and they congratulate him on winning the Rumble. He says he knows Del Rio wants the best at Mania, so he'll obviously face him. He says Edge was insulting him after the show last night. ADR says he knows what he's trying to do, and Miz says Edge is intimidated by him after he injured his best friend. Edge comes out to the ring and says he doesn't like Del Rio because of that and because of his attitude, but he says things to his face, and he'll leave Mania as champion. ADR says he can't wait to beat him at WrestleMania, and he tries a cheap shot, but Edge hits him first, and drives off Miz and ADR too. They bail, BUT ADR HITS HIM IN THE ARM WITH THE GUITAR! CROSS ARMBREAKER ON EDGE! Good segment. I have no desire to see any match this builds, but a good segment.

At ringside, Anon GM announces the RAW RUMBLE~! It will be Cena vs. Punk vs. Orton vs. Morrison vs. Sheamus vs. Truth vs. Lawler. The winner will face Miz for the WWE Title at Elimination Chamber, and the other six will go into the Chamber, with the winner getting the WrestleMania title shot. Cole is mad that Lawler is in this.

Match #1: Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov [c] vs. Husky Harris/Michael McGillicutty [WWE Unified Tag Team Championship]
This was entirely mediocre. Santino beats Husky clean with the Cobra.
*1/4

Orton runs out post-match, and both NN members get hit with RKOs. He prepares for the punt, but CM Punk, Otunga, and Mason are on the stage. Punk says he really doesn't want to face the consequences of doing that to his New Nexus member, but Orton just smiles and punts Harris! The three run down, and Orton leaves through the crowd. This feud is already off to a terrible start.

Ted and Maryse come out and Ted says Jerry's career is over and he should give him his spot tonight. He says he'll buy it if he wants, and Cole says Lawler can't give up the spotlight. Lawler says he's been here for 18 years and hasn't competed at WrestleMania. He says he should be WWE Champion now if not for Michael Cole, and he's going to be in that match tonight, and he's going to do his best to win it. Ted hits him, and slaps Ted. This allows Jerry to hit Ted, and they both bail.

The Bellas are on commentary.

Match #2: Daniel Bryan w/ Gail Kim vs. Tyson Kidd
This is under 2 minutes and another one of those situations where you wonder why they even bothered. Danielson wins with the LeBell Lock.
*3/4

The Bellas and Gail fight again.

Match #3: Edge vs. The Miz w/ Alex Riley
The rematch of a bad match is also a bad match. This is less awful, due to being shorter. John Cena shows up in the press box and starts yelling "MIZ IS AWFUL" to distract him, and Edge hits the Spear to win.
**

WRESTLEMANIA 27: OH, WRITTEN IN THE STARS! 62 DAYS!

Vickie Guerrero comes out to the stage and she says Edge will defend the title on Friday i na way that it has never been defended before.

Match #4: LayCool vs. Natalya/Eve
This is decent enough for 3 minutes or so. Layla beats Eve with a Diamond Dust.
*3/4

MOK/Khali vs. The Usos is set, and Anon GM rings in to make it a dance off to spare us. MOK and Khali win. I hate wrestling now.

2 21 11

THE CHAPERONE TRAILER.

Match #5: THE RAW RUMBLE~!
-#1 is John Morrison
-#2 is Sheamus
-They work well together yet again
-#3 is CM Punk
-Punk vs. Morrison delivers as usual
-#4 is John Cena
-Punk vs. Cena rules
-Who cares about the ordeR?
-Orton gets rid of Punk first :(
-Lawler wins after Cena helps him get rid of Sheamus in revenge

WWE NXT
February 1st, 2011
Long Island, NY

Striker is in the ring with the four rookies left and says an elimination will be next week. Ricardo is filling in for ADR. He says their challenge tonight is an arm wrestling challenge for 3 immunity points. Curtis easily beats Saxton and Brodus beats Bateman. Brodus can't beat Curtis, so he headbutts him and Curtis wins by DQ to win the points.

Match #1: Chris Masters vs. Byron Saxton
Masters carries the loser well for 3 minutes. Masters bases the match around Saxton working the arm, so you get great Masters limb selling for a few moments. Masterlock ends it, and Todd calls it a cover by Masters, resulting in Josh bursting out laughing.
**

EARLIER TONIGHT: Daniel tries to teach Bateman the Front Guillotine as Gail watches. She gives Bateman tips, and he says chicks don't know about SUBMISSION WRESTLING. He challenges her to put it on him. She does, and he passes out. Daniel says when she does submissions, it gets him so hot, and they make out. The camera pans down and Bateman is awake and gives Danielson the thumbs up. AMAZING.

Match #2: Brodus Clay vs. Ted DiBiase w/ Maryse
Good Brodus showcase, and Ted actually has some good looking offense here. Shines as a babyface more than he has since the Legacy days. Maryse starts taking pictures of herself at ringside. Ted gets mad at Maryse flirting with Josh and Brodus hits a Running Powerslam to win.
**1/4

They have a promo challenge in the ring with the rookies having to cut promos on other pros. Bateman easily wins by saying Dolph's real name is Turd Ferguson. Daniel and Truth get the crowd to chant "TURD! TURD! TURD! TURD!" NXT is the best show in wrestling at this point.

THE CHAPERONE.

Match #3: Daniel Bryan/Derrick Bateman vs. R-Truth/Johnny Curtis
This is good for the 5-6 minutes it lasts. After a stand-off between Truth and Daniel, Ziggler tries to start an "ECW!" chant. Daniel vs. Curtis is really great, so good for them. Josh just starts making up news at the end and tries to say this is the last season of NXT and then says he hopes that story gets picked up and WWE is then pressured to end it. Truth has a nice dive, but Daniel gets Curtis in the LeBell Lock to win.
