WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Tito Santana, Since 7/6/1985
WWF Tag Team Champions: The Dream Team, Since 8/24/1985

WWF Championship Wrestling
January 4th, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Hillbilly Jim/Cousin Luke vs. Moondog Spot/Al Navarro

Usual shitty squash.
1/4*

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips of Rock n' Wrestling air

Match #2: Hercules Hernandez w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Ted Ripley
This year is not off to a great start. Uninspiring power squash. Torture Rack does it.
1/2*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Gene hypes a 1/11 Boston show, with Piper/Orton vs. Orndorff/Bruno and Tito/Savage
-Savage comes on and says he will be the WWF Champion, yeah. He says he is the #1 in the world and Gene asks Liz how she is. Savage gets mad at this and tells Gene not to trust him, because he doesn't know him, and he makes Liz say "goodbye, namby-pamby", and says that's what Tito is.

Match #3: The Killer Bees vs. Barry O/Rick Jacobs
Acceptable Bees squash. Too much Brunzell. They hit a Dropkick Hart Attack to win.
*1/4

Match #4: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Don Driggers

Awesome 2 minute Savage squash. Flying Elbow wins it.
*3/4

It is time for Piper's Pit, and his guest is the new WWF Women's Champion, The Fabulous Moolah. They congratulate her for beating the awful Wendi Richter, and Piper puts her over as the greatest of all time. They then make out as Piper's way of congratulating her. Weird.

Match #5: Corp. Kirschner vs. Gino Carabello
Acceptable enough. Corp. is slowly being exposed to be nothing much, unfortunately. Can't replace Sarge even a little bit. He wins with a shitty Samoan Drop.
*

They replay "Land of 1000 Dances"

Match #6: The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Tony Stetson/Mike Dose
Good squash. Too much Brutus and not enough Valentine, but whatever, he still got to throw some nasty elbows. Valentine wins with the Figure Four.

WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
JANUARY 4TH, 1986
TAMPA, FL

PRETAPES:
-Hogan makes protein drinks on the beach and tells Gene to never give Terry Funk the recipe
-Piper and Jesse watch the Hillbillies in innertubes in the water

Match #1: Roddy Piper/Bob Orton/Jesse Ventura vs. Hillbilly Jim/Uncle Elmer/Cousin Luke
Roddy and Bob do what they can, but this sucked. Piper and Bob are the only ones with a lack of bumping fear. Shit breaks down. Orton hits Luke with his cast, and Piper puts on the Sleeper for the win. HOLY SHIT PIPER WINS AN ACTUAL FALL!
3/4*

Gene is at Adventure Island and has a waterslide competition between JYD and Jimmy Hart. JYD clearly jumps the fun before Gene says "go", and yeah. Jesse is there too with Terry Funk, and he says he's here to get nice and tan for the cover of Sports Illustrated when he beats Hogan, and says if they don't put him on the cover, he'll light their building on fire.

Footage airs of Terry Funk branding Hogan after a match in Denver in late 1985.

Match #2: Hulk Hogan [c] w/ Junkyard Dog vs. Terry Funk w/ Jimmy Hart [WWF Championship]
Awesome match. Lots of amazing Funk bumping and stooging early on. Funk barely gets any offense, especially compared to Philadelphia, where they had a perfect balance. JYD hits Jimmy Hart on the floor, and Hogan hits a great looking and sounding AXE BOMBAH~ to win.
**3/4

At the water park, Gene asks Albano about Steele's ring rust, and he says The Animal will be at 100%. On the other side of the park. Jesse is with Macho and Liz. Savage says he fears no man or animal, and he's here to teach the girl how to swim, and he throws her in the water as it cuts out.

Match #3: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. George Steele w/ Capt. Lou Albano
Steele loves Liz. Savage does what he can for 4 minutes and makes Steele look great. Steele gets distracted by Liz being beautiful, and Savage hits a Double Axe Handle to the back off the top for the win.
**

Savage quickly rolls out and takes Liz to the back on one shoulder.

featured footage of Hogan and Okerlund at the pool introducing a music video of highlights from 1985, set to Billy Ocean's "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going;"

Match #4: Corp. Kirscher vs. Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie & The Iron Sheik [Peace Match]
They do a lot of bad technical wrestling to sell the peace aspect. Nikolai ends up dropping Corp throat-first on the top rope and hitting a Knee Dorp to win.
3/4*

Kirschner runs off Sheik and Nikolai post-match, as he is a poor loser.

Match #5: Ricky Steamboat/The Junkyard Dog vs. Don Muraco/Mr. Fuji
Muraco and Ricky delivered at least. JYD beats Fuji with The Slam. THUMP.
*3/4

Steamboat runs off Muraco post-match.

The Master and Ruler Of The World

The 1/11 and 1/18 TV episodes are missing, shamefully.

Tito Santana [c] vs. Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Boston (January 11th)
Great match. Savage's stalling is fantastic, and then Tito works the arm a bit. Savage controls, and his arm selling on the transition is really fantastic. Tito has his leg taped up, and Savage kicks the leg to create openings. Jesse does a tremendous job pointing out that the last time Tito went into a title match with a bad leg, he lost the title because of it. Tito is super fiery, and Savage's cut off spots rule. Tito makes an awesome comeback, and they go to the floor. Savage pulls Liz in front of him as a shielf at 8, throws Tito over the railing at 9, and slides back in to win by count out.
***

Hulk Hogan/Andre The Giant vs. King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd/Bobby Heenan, Philadelphia (January 11th)

They did the best they could in a match with two limited big guys and a manager. Lots of awesome Heenan stooging though. Hogan vs. Bundy was really entertaining too. Hogan and Andre get Studd up and down with a double slam, so that was a pretty big deal. Andre beats Heenan with a boot to the face.
**

Ricky Steamboat vs. Don Muraco [Judo Jacket Match], Philadelphia (January 11th)

The audio quality for the announcers is AWFUL, so I have no idea what the rules are. Apparently, it's a normal No Holds Barred match, but in judo jackets. What the fuck is that? This is really disappointing, and I wouldn't protest at all if someone called it outright bad, as half of it is lazy choke holds. Feels like someone replaced the real Steamboat with a shitty clone. They have some more decent stuff at the end, and Steamboat wins with a backslide.
**

The Dream Team [c] w/ Johnny Valiant vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship], Philadelphia (January 11th)

This starts off as more of a brawl, and it is a very fun 8 minutes. Not quite great, but whatever. The brawl format allows Greg to shine with his really nasty and awesome punches and elbows and knees. This tag team is fine and all, but I miss the rough Valentine from the Tito feud. The champs take over due to being better at this kind of a match, which is good strategy after them previously being unable to handle the Bulldogs. The bulldogs come back, but Valiant interferes to save the titles.

WWF Championship Wrestling
January 25th, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Paul Orndorff/The Junkyard Dog vs. Mr. X/Joe Mirto

Paul is good, but not good enough to carry a shitty guy in a tag team in a 4 minute squash when JYD works 3 minutes of that. Paul beats Mr. X with a Piledriver.
3/4*

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al recaps the Andre vs. Heenan Family feud

Match #2: Terry Funk w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Sal Gee
Terry gets about two and a half minutes to maul a jobber, so it was fantastic. Lots of nasty stuff. Funk wins with a Sleeper.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-It will be Bruno vs. Piper in a Cage on February 8th
-Roddy Piper asks why he should be concerned for his health after Bruno has already lost three fights to me, and he's done nothing but cry to the promoters. He says he's got his Acey, but apparently they banned him from the building, and he can't go in a cage with a damned ape without his bodyguard, and he loses his shit.

Match #3: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Paul Dose
Solid Muraco squash. He wins with the Tombstone.
*1/2

WRESTLEMANIA 2: APRIL 7TH!

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Tito Santana says Randy might have gotten the best of him, but he can't take his title, because hard work got him here. He says hard work also got the Patriots to the Super Bowl, and like they're going to beat the Bears in the Super Bowl, he's going to beat Randy Savage. Uh...

Match #4: The British Bulldogs w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Terry Gibbs/Gino Carabello
Your usual fantastic Bulldogs squash with lots of cool offense. Dynamite beats Gino with a Superplex.
**

NEXT WEEK: THE DREAM TEAM VS. THE BULLDOGS FOR THE TAG TITLES!

Savage vs. Steele from SNME is re-aired in full.

Match #5: Hillbilly Jim/Uncle Elmer/Cousin Luke vs. Tiger Chung Lee/Steve Lombardi/Dr. Midnight
Horrible. Bear Hug does the job.

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth [WWF Championship], MSG (January 27th)
Great match. Savage is smart enough to do all his cheating in the opening, so that when Hogan does it back, it's an actual revenge spot and doesn't come off as Hogan being an asshole. Savage gets busted open bad after eating the post, and it adds a ton to it. Really great sense of chaos through the entire match. This is the first use of the finisher killing Hulk Up routine, except that it doesn't lead to the finish directly, but to a finishing run. They fight on the floor and after a Liz distraction, Savage shoves Hogan to the post and rolls in RIGHT before 10 to by count out.

Match #1: Ricky Steamboat/King Tonga vs. Moondog Spot/Rusty Brooks

Usual fun stuff from Ricky and Meng. Tonga gets his Leaping Headbutt on Rusty for the win.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:

-Lord Al says Mr. T is still in great shape and says he's ready to get back in the ring if necessary

Match #2: Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jeff Grippley
Adonis is now full in pink gear and fatter than ever. The character is fine, but his matches suffer for it. He wins with the DDT. I miss the North-South Connection.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:

-These promos are for a show in fucking Wyoming
-Bob Orton says he has a surprise for Orndorff

Match #3: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Jobbers
Usual squash from them. Sheiky baby wins with the Camel Clutch. Break his back. Fuck his ass. Make him humble. Old country way.
*1/4

Kirscher comes out with the flag and runs them off. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING HACK. WE WANT SARGE.

WRESTLEMANIA 2: APRIL 7TH!

Match #4: Hercules Hernandez w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Paul Dose
Another horrible Herc squash.
1/4*

It is time for Piper's Pit, and he brings on Albano and Steele. Albano calls Piper skinny and Piper calls him fat. Piper says George got beat by a woman, and Albano says Elizabeth is basically a good woman and a nice woman, but she's influenced by Savage, who engineered the whole thing. Orton says she's stupid, so George flips out and chases him off the set.

Match #5: The Killers Bees vs. AJ Petruzzi/Dave Barbie
Solid Bees squash once again.
*1/4

Match #6: The Dream Team vs. The British Bulldogs

This is non-title, and both managers are there. Really really enjoyable 4 minutes. Valentine shines, and yeah. Bulldogs get the win with the Ode to Themselves.

LAZY!

2/8/86 - included Bob Orton Jr. as a guest of Piper's Pit in which Piper referred to him as 'Boxing Bob Orton' and challenged any wrestler to a boxing match after stating that Orton had been forced to remove his arm cast for good; included the Volkoff & Sheik vs. Kirchner & Steele bout, taped 1/7/86 in Poughkeepsie, NY:

Hillbilly Jim & Uncle Elmer defeated Bob Bradley & Terry Gibbs at 2:30 when Elmer pinned Bradley with a legdrop

King Kong Bundy & Big John Studd (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Darryl Bowlin & Ivan MacDonald at 2:38 when Bundy pinned Bowlin with the Avalanche and a splash

WWF IC Champion Tito Santana defeated Mr. X via submission with the figure-4 at 3:14

Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid (w/ Capt. Lou Albano) defeated A.J. Petruzzi & the Gladiator at 2:55 when Smith pinned the Gladiator with a powerslam from the middle turnbuckle

Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth) pinned Paul Dose at the 23-second mark with the flying elbowsmash; prior to the bout, George Steele came out and gave Elizabeth a bouquet of flowers; when Savage noticed the flowers, he stole them from her and destroyed them

Tito Santana [c] vs. Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Boston (February 8th)
Hey guess what? Awesome match. Same general idea as 1/11, but with a better Savage control segment. Good finishing run, etc. Tito tries a Back Suplex back into the ring with Savage on the apron, BUT SAVAGE HITS HIM WITH A FOREIGN OBJECT! He covers to win the belt. Love Tito and all, but it's about time to get the belt onto the hottest act in the company.
***

The Hart Foundation vs. The Killer Bees, Boston (February 8th)

Easily the best Bees match yet, although it's only average for the Foundation. Brunzell is still useless, but Blair works well with Bret and Neidhart. The control seg on Brunzell is pretty great, and the ideal way to lay this out, as it means that piece of shit doesn't get that much offense and Blair can have his good hot tag. They do a double down and Bret sneaks in to hit the Flying Elbow to steal the win.
**1/2

Roddy Piper vs. Bruno Sammartino [Steel Cage Match], Boston (February 8th)

PIPER COMES OUT WITH A CHICAGO BEARS SUPERBOWL T-SHIRT ON! AMAZING! This isn't much, but Piper does his best. Piper bleeds a ton, sells like a motherfucker, takes gigantic cage bumps, etc. They had some good close escapes and Sammartino gets out after hitting Piper with a wooden chair from the floor to get him off. What a dick.
**

The Dream Team [c] w/ Johnny Valiant vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship], Philadelphia (February 8th)

Good 15 minutes. Less of a brawl start, and more of just a regular match. They need to change up this whole deal at this point, this is like the 4th or 5th match that's almost 90% the same match. Usual awesome Dynamite hot tag, and he gets Beefcake with an inside cradle. Valentine gets in behind the ref's back and reverses it, so the champions retain.
**1/2

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship], Philadelphia (February 8th)

Their first match showed a lot of promise, but this was pretty disappointing. Hogan has a ton of energy and does his stuff well, but Bundy works this like a normal heel, with chinlocks and stomping, and not like the huge fucking beast that he is and has been prior to this match. Hogan Hulks Up and hits the Big Boot and Legdrop, but Heenan pulls the ref out for the DQ.
**

Hogan beats on Heenan, but Bundy attacks him. Hogan clears him from the ring.

Match #1: Afi vs. The Gladiator

Afi is billed as a cousin of Jimmy Snuka. He is a blatant Snuka clone and blows. He wins with a shitty Superfly Splash.
1/4*

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al shows footage of the British Bulldogs

Match #2: Ricky Steamboat/King Tonga vs. Steve Lombardi/Rusty Brooks
WWF tries to fuck with the fabric of pro wrestling reality, BY HAVING RICKY STEAMBOAT COME OUT TO "ALSO SPRACH ZARATHRUSTA" That is like Edge coming out to "My Time is Now", Steve Austin coming out to The Rock's theme, Roddy Piper coming out to "Real American", or Eric Young coming out to Bobby Roode's music. You get the point. Anyways, this was a great squash for Haku and Steamer. Haku wins with the Diving Headbutt deal.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Tito is PISSED and says he wants footage shown so everyone can see how he was robbed of the title belt, and he's going to get a rematch

Match #3: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tony Stetson & Lanny Poffo
Awesome squash for 90 seconds. Hart Attack does the job.
*1/2

WRESTLEMANIA 2: APRIL 7TH!

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Gene says the next Boston show is March 8th, and it will be Savage/Tito III
-JYD says words

Match #4: The Killer Bees vs. Joe Mirto/Iron Mike Sharpe
Why are the Bees getting so much TV time now? Blair looks great, Brunzell is fucking useless. They win.
*1/4

Match #5: Bob Orton w/ Roddy Piper vs. Jose Luis Rivera [Boxing Match]

Bob wins in about 90 seconds with a punch. Obviously.
Can't rate a boxing match

Match #6: Terry Funk vs. The Junkyard Dog

This is about 2-3 minutes before Dory Funk makes his debut, attacking JYD for the DQ.
*1/2

They beat up JYD like the piece of shit that he is, and brand him before several babyfaces run out to make the save.

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Randy Savage [WWF Championship - Lumberjack Match], MSG (February 17th)
I guess the cage stip is being saved for WrestleMania 2. Disappointing. Hogan has his ribs taped up and Gorilla keeps referencing them being broken by Bundy two days prior, which is when the next SNME was taped. Interesting that they'd reference it before it airs, since they hardly announce that it is. Savage works the ribs. Still very good, but the stip cripples it as usual. Only 7 minutes too. Bundy trips up Hogan, but on the other side, Tito trips Savage, and Hogan hits the Legdrop to win.

I refuse to watch the first match.

Cpl. Kirchner, Danny Spivey & Pedro Morales defeated Les Thornton, Dave Barbie & Rusty Brooks when Spivey pinned Barbie at 3:07 with a bulldog

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al recaps the Boxing Bob Orton deal and says he has a challenge to anyone who has wrestled in the WWF to box him

BUY THE WRESTLING ALBUM.

Before his match, Muraco dedicates this Piledriver to Jesse.

Match #2: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jim Londos
Only about a minute. Tombstone gets the win. They actually manage to hype up a SNME now, saying Hogan will face Muraco in a week at SNME.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-They just replay the Tito promo from last week. Weird.

Match #3: Paul Orndorff vs. Unnamed Jobber
Great brutal squash. Several nasty Lariats, and the Piledriver ends it.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Same JYD promo too!
-I guess they only filmed these two promos for the 3/8 Boston show

Match #4: Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Paul Roma
This sure happened. DDT wins.
*

It is time for Piper's Piut, and Piper hypes up Boxing Bob and asks who dares to accept the challenge to box Boxing Bob Orton at SNME in one week. AND HULK HOGAN FINALLY STEPS ON PIPER'S PIT! FUCK YEAH! Piper says it's time Bozo finally visited the zoo, and asks if he's the one stupid enough to accept. Hogan has a piece of paper and snatches the mic from Piper. He says he'd love to fight Bob Orton, but he has a very good friend who wanted to get a match with Bob, and Piper says they'll take on any damn body that wants to box. Hogan shows him who has signed, AND IT'S MR. T! HOGAN SAYS HE PITIES THOSE FOOLS AND WALKS OFF! Great segment.

Footage airs of the final moments of Tito/Savage from Boston.

Match #5: The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Scott McGhee & Jim Powers
Too much Brutus and not enough Valentine, but whatever. Valentine got in at the end and was great. That faggot Jim Powers taps out to the Figure Four.

Not great like their last one, but very good as usual. Steamboat beats Gibbs with the Crossbody.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:

Match #2: Tito Santana vs. Joe Mirto
Usual good Tito squash. Figure Four gets the win.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Gene says it's Hogan/JYD vs. The Funks on March 8th
-Hogan comes in and Gene asks about his injury and Hogan says it's all kinda disgusting and he was hanging and banging when the Dog asked for his help. He says he's going to war with Bundy and Muraco soon, but he'll be there to help his buddy out.

Match #3: The British Bulldogs w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Barry O/The Gladiator
Bulldogs put on yet another great squash with all their cool stuff. They use the Rocket Launcher diving Headbutt on Barry for the win.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Randy Savage comes in. Savage says there was no crime except history being made and he denies everything. He says this belt has never had and never will have as much prestige again as it will right now when the Macho Man holds it, yeah. He's not wrong. He makes Liz tell everyone that he's the champion.

Match #4: King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Steve Gatorwolf/Mike Saxon
This is almost all Bundy, so it's good. He wins with the Avalanche and a big Splash.
*

They walk to Piper's Pit to be the guests. He congratulates Bundy on putting Hogan in the hospital! Bundy congratulates Piper on whipping Mr. T. NONE OF THIS HAS AIRED YET! COME ON, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER WWF.

In a pretape, Gene then recaps the events of SNME, WHICH HAS NOT AIRED YET.

Match #5: Terry Funk/Hoss Funk w/ Jimmy Hart vs. SD Jones/Nelson Veilleux
Hoss is Dory's WWF name. I love Terry Funk as much as anyone, but oh my god, this did NOT need 5 minutes plus. The Funks gave the jobbers far too much also, so this was kind of a shitty squash. Hoss eventually wins with a Boston Crab.

WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
MARCH 1ST, 1986
PHOENIX, AZ

Match #1: Mr. T vs. Bob Orton w/ Roddy Piper [Boxing Match]

This is a minute before Mr. T knocks Orton over the top with a punch. They stay on the floor for the count of 10, so Mr. T wins by count out.
45/Poop

Mr. T celebrates, BUT PIPER AND ORTON JUMP HIM FROM BEHIND! YEAH! Piper takes off his belt and whips the shit out of Mr. T with his belt.

In the back, Gene interviews Mr. T. He says he ain't been humiliated like that since his daddy whipped him when he was 6, and he's gonna get Piper for that. He says he wants Piper.

In the back, Gene is with Heenan and Bundy. Heenan says his man is ready to take the belt from Hogan, and Bundy says he wants Hogan. Gene says he's not fighting Hogan, and Heenan says that doesn't matter, and says Hogan is afraid of him, and his man will fight Hogan anywhere at any time.

Match #2: King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Steve Gatorwold
Bundy squash for about 30-40 seconds. Great squash. He wins with the Avalanche and a Big Splash.
*

Bundy again yells that he wants Hogan.

In the back, Gene interviews Don Muraco. He says he's a little agitated because Mr. Fuji has a the flu while he's wrestling the champion tonight, but in his infinite wisdom, Mr. Fuji made a call to his friend and he has the wisest and smartest man in the WWF at ringside tonight for this special occasion, AND BRINGS ON BOBBY HEENAN! OH SHIT!

Match #3: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Don Muraco w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship]
This is a solid 5 minutes, but it's more of an angle than any attempt at a great match. They work decently together. Hogan makes his comeback and Heenan pulls the ref out for the DQ.
**

Hogan brings him in, BUT KING KONG BUNDY COMES OUT AND ATTACKS FROM BEHIND! YEAH! Muraco holds Hogan in the corner from the apron, gripping his arms so he can't get out, AND BUNDY HITS THE AVALANCHE! AND THEN ANOTHER! AND A THIRD! Hogan goes down and Bundy hits several Big Splashes before the Bulldogs and other babyfaces come out to save. The Heenan Family leaves, and Hogan is stretchered out. This is, I believe, the first time since Hogan won the belt that he didn't end a segment having run off a heel and then left under his own power no matter what the outcome was.

Match #4: The Dream Team [c] vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship]
Both managers are there. Good match that actually got time! This is the typical match for these teams. It has gotten to the point where I hate this match. Dynamite and Valentine do a double shoulderblock and Valentine lands with his leg on top of Kid for the pin.
**1/4

The music video for "Real America" airs, and it is the greatest thing I've ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcmI2n60EIw

Match #5: The Junkyard Dog vs. Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart
Well, this sucked. Got about 8 minutes. JYD throws Adonis into Hart on the apron and covers to win.
SATURDAY NIGHT THUMP.

Adonis attacks JYD with the megaphone post-match.

At the hospital, Gene is standing by and the doctor who says his ribs are probably broken.

-Gene announces Hogan vs. Bundy in a Cage Match for the WWF Title for WrestleMania 2
-He also announces Piper vs. Mr. T in a boxing match and an open invitational battle royal open to WWF and NFL athletes

Match #4: The Haiti Kid vs. Butch Cassidy
Enjoyable bullshit midget match. Haiti wins.
MIDGET THUMP

Piper and Orton rush the ring, and they drag Haiti to the Piper's Pit set. Piper asks if he's a friend of Mr. T, and he says he is and he hopes Mr. T beats him up. So Piper tapes him to the chair, AND THEY CUT HIS HAIR TO LOOK LIKE MR. T'S HAIR! Ace picks him up and holds him and Piper tapes his mouth shut and keeps on with the haircut. Fantastic angle.

Gene is in the control center and he shows clips of Mr. T vs. Orton from SNME and the post-match in order to hype up the Piper/Mr. T match at WrestleMania 2. He then shows clips of the Bundy attack on Hulk Hogan.

Match #5: The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Lanny Poffo/Nelson Veilleux
Solid squash. Valentine beats the faggot named Nelson with the Figure Four.

Ricky Steamboat vs. Bret Hart, Boston (March 8th)
This is a pretty well known match, and it is pretty great. Both men take huge bumps early on. More of a scientific masterclass than anything with a real story or psychology, but everything looked good and it was crisp. I kind of grade on a curve here due to there being absolutely no emphasis on actual good wrestling made by the company, sort of like CZW and TNA. Except WWF is putting on a waaaaaaaaaaaaay better overall product due to great booking. Anyways, yeah, Steamboat gets a cradle to win.
***

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Tito Santana [WWF Tag Team Championship], Boston (March 8th)

Pissed Off Tito is back, and Pissed Off Tito is easily the best Tito. Good brawl to begin, and Savage takes over with cheating. Usual great Savage control segment. Tito makes a comeback, and this is more of an angle to set up rematches than a great match on its own. Savage tries for the foreign object shot, but he misses. Tito snaps and when the ref tries to pull him off, Tito throws him down for the DQ, and Savage bails.
**3/4

Hulk Hogan/The Junkyard Dog vs. Terry Funk/Hoss Funk, Boston (Match 8th)

This was better than I owuld have expected. Hogan vs. Terry was great again. Dory wasn't awful or anything, but was easily the third best guy in this behind Hogan and Terry was obviously the best. Entertaining heel bullshit before Terry gets the best of a brawl with Hogan using a chair. Great control seg, and then it breaks down. Hogan beats Terry with the AXE BOMBAH~!

Usual solid Adonis squash. He wins with a DDT.
*1/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al hypes the battle royal and says Andre, Studd, and William THE REFRIGERATOR Perry will be in

Match #2: The Killer Bees vs. Mr. X/Bob Bradley
Man, fuck The Killer Bees. Well, no. Blair is still a good wrestler. But fuck this gimmick, gear, and Brunzell. They win.
*

WRESTLEMANIA UPDATE WITH MEAN GENE:
-Gene announces the three locations idea
-He also announces The Dream Team vs. Bulldogs for the belts with two referees. Well, hopefully this is the final match.

Match #3: George Steele/Uncle Elmer vs.
NOPE

WRESTLEMANIA UPDATE:
-Hogan comes on and says this is the first time he's defending the belt in a steel cage. YOU ARE SO FULL OF SHIT, JESUS CHRIST. He says he loves everything and all the Hulkamaniacs who live like he does, and if you could get to the top with cheap shots, Bundy would be WWF Champion , but that's not how it works, brother.

Match #4: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Tony Stetson
Randy wins in 20 seconds with the Flying Elbow. :(
DOING THE THING. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH YEAH.

George Steele comes out with flowers and gives them to Liz, but Savage attacks him. He beats him with the flowers, but Animal runs off Savage.

BUY THE WWF MAGAZINE.

WRESTLEMANIA UPDATE:
-It is now Jesse in the studio
-They present a clearly fake press conference with Piper in New York. Piper says Mr. T couldn't handle him last year and says Mr. T can't even box to begin with, no matter what Joe Frazier teaches him. He says if Joe tries to box him, he'll think he's back in Manilla.
-Mr. T has one in LA. He has a rubber chicken and says this is Roddy Piper's action figure and repeats his promo from SNME.
-King Kong Bundy is at Piper's press conference. He says last year, he set the record for fastst win ever, and he's going to have the fastest World Title win too on April 7th
-Hogan takes the stand in LA to I guess the babyface press conference. Hogan says everyone was crying at SNME two weeks ago, and it was like Hulkamania was dead and the darkness was there. He says if he has to go to the cage with one limb, he'll be there. He says he feels the pain in his ribs and all that and Bundy better be ready.

Match #5: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie vs. Lanny Poffo/Jim Powers
This got 3 minutes, so Sheiky baby got to show off a little bit. Nikolai did stuff too. Sheiky baby makes that faggot Jim Powers humbell with the Camel Clutch.
*1/2

WRESTLEMANIA UPDATE:
-Back in the studio with Gene this time
-He runs down the triple main event
-Also, Savage will defend the IC Title against George Steele, as Tito gets fucked out of an IC Title match at Mania despite being in a hot program for it for the second year in a row

King Tonga vs. Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji, MSG (March 16th)
This is as fun as Meng vs. Muraco should be. Muraco builds to his bumps really well and all Tonga's offense looks fucking killer. Muraco has a good control seg, things continue, etc. Muraco uses Fujis' cane on Tonga, and then hits the Tombstone for the win.
**1/2

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Tito Santana [WWF Intercontinental Championship], MSG (March 16th)

Tito is pissed still, so this is great. And in fact, their best match yet. Best stalling yet, best Savage control seg. I guess they're trying extra hard since the feud has come to MSG now. Tito takes a few fantastic bumps out to the floor. Awesome comeback, AND TITO HITS THE FLYING FOREARM! FIGURE FOUR! YEAH! SAVAGE GOES TO TAP, BUT HE HITS THE REFEREE INSTEAD TO SAVE THE BELT BY DQ! AWESOME FINISH!

3/22 wasn't included in the pack, weirdly. This is unfortunate, as it has the debut squash of Jake Roberts.

Match #1: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Andre Malo
Great great squash. Only like 75 seconds though. Flying Elbow ends it.
*3/4

WRESTLEMANIA REPORT:
-Gene interviews Hogan and Mr. T. T thanks Hogan for helping him work out and keeping him motivated.

Match #2: Paul Orndorff vs. Bob Bradley
Another one of those great brutal Orndorff squashes. Vince says he's facing Muraco at Mania, and he wins with the Piledriver.
**

WRESTLEMANIA REPORT:
-The Hart Foundation says one of the is going to win the battle royal and they're going to split the money

Match #3: Terry Funk/Hoss Funk w/ Jimmy Hart vs. SD Jones/Ivan McDonald
This happened. Dory wins with his fucking boring ass Boston Crab. Fuck you, Dory Funk.
*1/2

WRESTLEMANIA REPORT:
-King Kong Bundy and Bobby Heenan come up. Heenan says they've hurt the man and he is dumb enough to put the title on the line in the cage and Bundy is easily the next Heavyweight Champion. Bundy says he has Hogan right where he wants him.

Match #4: The British Bulldogs w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Tiger Chung Lee/Mr. X
Your usual great Bulldogs squash. Lots of power spots. Dynamite beats Mr. X with the Superplex.
**

Instead of Piper's Pit, a video of his boxing training airs, set to his song "For Everybody", off The Wrestling Album.

QUICK COMMERCIAL RUNNING DOWN OTHER WRESTLEMANIA 2 MATCHES:
-Muraco vs. Orndorff
-Adonis vs. Elmer (GROSS)
-JYD/Tito vs. Funks
-Savage vs. The Animal for the IC Title
-Moolah vs. Velvet McIntyre for the Women's Title, which is evidently still a thing
-Jake Roberts vs. George Wells

Match #5: Hulk Hogan vs. Moondog Spot
ULTRA-RARE HOGAN TV SQUASH! This was a solid squash thoughHis ribs are still taped and Spot got offense by going to them, He comes back and hits the Legdrop to win.

WWF WRESTLEMANIA 2
APRIL 7TH, 1986
LONG ISLAND, NY - CHICAGO, IL - LOS ANGELES, CA

LONG ISLAND, NY

Vince and his co-host Susan St. James introduce the show.

Ray Charles sings "America the Beautiful". His mic is shitty when he starts, so improvises an all new first verse until the mic works, and then goes into the real lyrics.

In a pretape, Piper is with Bob Orton and his trainer and says he's down to 219 pounds and is in the best fighting shape of his life, and if Mr. T knocks him out tonight, not only will he quit professional boxing, but he will quit wrestling forever and retire this very night.

Match #1: Paul Orndorff vs. Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji
Solid four minutes. They have some great exchanges. Susan St. James is a useless commentator. Goes to a double count out.
**

Orndorff runs off Muraco with a chair and the crowd chants "BULLSHIT"

Match #2: Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. George Steele [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
This is a huge waste of Savage, but not outright bad. Steele eats the turnbuckle pads. Awesome Savage bumping and selling, and Steele got distracted by Liz repeatedly. Horribly, Steele gets to kick out of the Flying Elbow, but Savage then trips him up and pins him with his feet on the ropes. This was total bullshit, but it was short entertaining bullshit.
**1/4

Match #3: Jake Roberts vs. George Wells

Awesome 3 minutes. GEORGE WELLS WITH A FUCKING HURACANRANA. Jake wins with the DDT.
**

Jake puts Damien on Wells post-match.

A video airs of all the incidents between Piper and Mr. T.

In LA, Jesse is with Hulk Hogan. Jesse asks about the match and Hogan says he's getting paid to ask questions, not believe, and he says he'll do it for America and all the little Hulksters and he predicts that Mr. T will beat Piper, because Piper believes in nothing and people with shortcuts never finish first, like Jesse would know. Jesse says nice guys finish last, and it'll happen to Hogan eventually too.

Joan Rivers does the guest ring announcing for Piper/Mr. T. She introduces the judges: Darryl Dawkins, Cab Callaway, and G. Gordon Liddy. AHAHAHAHAAH WHAT THE FUCK? AMAZING SELECTION.

Match #4: Roddy Piper w/ Bob Orton & Lou Duva vs. Mr. T w/ The Haiti Kid & Joe Frazier [Boxing Match]
This is unfortunately 3.5 rounds. Piper is great at doing subtle dickish things even while making it look like a real boxing match. Which it appears that Mr. T think it actually is, and in the 90 seconds that Round Four goes, they just start killing each other before Piper slams Mr. T for a DQ.
BOXING.

The two men get pulled apart post-match.

CHICAGO, IL:

Gorilla and Gene are calling stuff in Chicago, which leaves Jesse and Lord Al for LA. Not bad.

Match #5: The Fabulous Moolah [c] vs. Velvet McIntyre [WWF Womens Championship]
This is all of 90 seconds and Moolah wins.
45/piss

Match #6: Corp. Kirschner vs. Nikolai Volkoff [Flag Match]

THIS FUCKING SUCKED. KIRSCHNER, YOU ARE THE WORST. He wins with his beyond horrible Samoan Drop.
1/2*

Kirschner waves the US flag around.

Gene introduces a special referee for the battle royal, Dick Butkus.

Match #7: 20 Man Battle Royal
Particpant list, taken from wikipedia: Andre the Giant, Jimbo Covert (NFL player - Chicago Bears), Pedro Morales, Tony Atlas, Ted Arcidi, Harvey Martin (Former NFL player - Dallas Cowboys), Danny Spivey, Hillbilly Jim, King Tonga, The Iron Sheik, Ernie Holmes (Former NFL player - Pittsburgh Steelers), B. Brian Blair, Jim Brunzell, Big John Studd, Bill Fralic (NFL player - Atlanta Falcons), Jim Neidhart, Bret Hart, Russ Francis (NFL player - San Francisco 49ers), Bruno Sammartino, and William "Refrigerator" Perry (NFL player - Chicago Bears). The NFL guys stick together. Covert and Tonga are out first. This wasn't super exciting, but it delivered in terms of what you'd expect and it wasn't outright bad. The Fridge gets into it with Studd. Studd eliminates him, but then Perry pulls Studd out over the top. The Harts eliminate Francis, but then Andree gets rid of both of them to win.
*3/4

Match #8: The Dream Team [c] vs. The British Bulldogs w/ Ozzy Osbourne [WWF Tag Team Championship - Two Referees Present]

As always, Johnny Valiant and Capt. Lou are at ringside in addition to Ozzy. This is slightly different from their usual match, so I appreciate that they at least tried to change it up. That being said, these two hit a ceiling for what they're capable of months ago. They do the ridiculous heel in peril format, where the Bulldogs control for like 5-7 minutes out of a 12 minute match and the heel control seg lasts for like 2 minutes. It is completely ass fucking backwards. Terrible finish too, as Davey whips Valentine on accident into Dynamite, and then pins Greg and that's...that's it. At least they have the belts now.
**1/4

LOS ANGELES, CA:

AND LOOK WHO'S ANNOUNCING!

Posted Image

Match #9: Ricky Steamboat vs. Hercules Hernandez
Steamboat did what he could with the big lug for 7 minutes. No idea why THIS got 7 minutes and Muraco/Paul for 4. Hercules may be Eugene's dad. Steamboat wins with the Crossbody.
**

Match #10: Uncle Elmer vs. Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart

HORRIBLE. SO BAD. Elmer misses a legdrop and Adrian hits a Diving Headbutt off the middle to win.
1/2*

In the back, Lord Al interview Hogan. He again says he's not 100% but if he only has one arm, he'll get in there and he's glad to see so many new believers in Hulkamania and it's running wild around the world. He says he's gonna slap those feelings around and take Bundy's pride away and putting it into the lifeforce of the World title.

Match #11: Tito Santana/The Junkyard Dog vs/ Terry Funk/Hoss Funk w/ Jimmy Hart
Logic says you put in Animal in Tito's place to get at least one awesome match on the card with Tito/Savage, putting that in Long Island, since that feud has made its way to MSG by this point. But hey, fuck wanting to put on a match that is above **1/4, I guess. Tito vs. Terry was AWESOME, shame they never had a singles match. They only fought for like 2 minutes tops out of almost 12 minutes, but still. Tito sells like a motherfucker. JYD has his shitty hot tag, and Terry hits JYD with the megaphone to win.
**1/4

The cage is set up and they show the build for the main event.

Lee introduces his boyfriend Tommy Lasorda as the special ring announcer for the main event.

Match #12: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship - Steel Cage Match]
This is fine enough. Probably their best match together. Hogan sells well until the end, which is still not as egregious a no sell as he's capable of. Bundy's stuff looks good and the near escapes all are logical. Hogan absorbs an Avalanche, which is bullshit, and he hits a slam and Legdrop and then climbs over the top to win.
**1/2

Hogan chases Heenan back into the cage and throws him into the cage wall. Heenan crawls out and Hogan poses to end the show.

WWF Championship Wrestling
April 12th, 1985
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Ricky Steamboat/The Junkyard Dog vs. Mr. X/Moondog Spot

Steamboat does the best he can. JYD beat X with the fucking Slam.
THUMP.

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips air of the Rougeau Brothers debuting in Australia

Match #2: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. D Jones/Mario Mancini
Good long tag squash at some 3 minutes. Hart Attack does the job.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The Dream Team comes in and Johnny says he'll see the end of Albano, and they're going to get their rematch on the 26th
-This Boston show is not online, as the superior crew went to a taped Detroit house show on April 26th

Match #3: George Steele w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. John Rizzo
Short squash. Too short to be of much note. Steele surprisingly wins with a backslide.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Ricky Steamboat says he's come to help his friend JYD fight the Funk Brothers
-Oh well

Match #4: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Terry Morgan
Good 2:30 squash. Muraco gets real brutal and violent like I enjoy in a squash. He wins with the Tombstone.
**

It is time for Piper's Pit, and Jimmy Hart is substituting for Roddy Piper, who is on vacation in Puerto Rico with some girls. Hart's guest is Jake "The Snake" Roberts. He asks about Damien and Jake says Damien does what he wants. He says if you keep playing with snakes, sooner or later, you get bit. Jimmy asks what the snake eats. Jake says he'll eat anything, small rabbits...small people. He asks Jimmy if he wants to hold him, and Jimmy gets freaked out and ends the interview.

Match #5: Paul Orndorff vs. Steve Lombardi
Another great Ordorff squash. Since turning face, I don't think he's had two great squashes in a row like this. Piledriver gets him the win.
