WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: Randy Savage , Since 2/8/1986
WWF Tag Team Champions: The British Bulldogs, Since 4/7/1986

WWF Championship Wrestling
July 12th, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Ricky Steamboat vs. Les Thornton

Usual good stuff. Flying Crossbody gets the win.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene covers the Strong Machines and the Andre rumor
-He says it could also be Giant Baba, except that Baba is much skinnier and has tiny arms and an entirely different body shape
-Heenan, Bundy, and Studd say it's clearly Andre the Giant

Match #2: The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Rick Hunter/Serge Jodoin
Solid, not overwhelmingly great. Typical Dream Team squash in that regard. Figure Four makes Serge tap out.
*1/4

KOTR INTERVIEWS.

Match #3: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales vs. Terry Gibbs/Roger Kirby
Just like all the other other squashes with this horrible pairing that is a gigantic waste of Tito. Flying Forearm gets the win.
*1/2

KOTR SHIT.

Match #4: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Steve Johnson
Race delivers once again. Lots of great knee and head based stuff. Race wins with a prototype of a Fisherman's Buster.
**

Flower Shop with the Bulldogs. Nah.

Match #5: Hulk Hogan/Paul Orndorff vs. The Moondogs
Orndorff works the entire match by himself, despite Hogan having his arm out at points. Orndorff can handle them both by himself, and he wins with the Piledriver on Rex.
*3/4

They celebrate, and Hogan celebrates a ton despite doing nothing to contribute to the win.

WWF Championship Wrestling
July 19th, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

TONIGHT: Hogan/Orndorff vs. Bundy/Studd

This is also the last Championship Wrestling I have until August 9th.

Match #1: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Eric Cooper
Savage finally gets over 90 seconds for a squash and gets to really show off before hitting the Flying Elbow for the win. Great squash, as it always is when Randy gets actual time.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-More coverage of The Machines.

Match #2: The American Express vs. Al Navarro/Gino Carabello
Usual bullshit. Rotundo wins with the Airplane Spin.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN IN THE USAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

INTERVIEWS:
-He announces Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake Roberts in Boston on August 9th, as well as Savage/Adonis vs. Hogan/George Steele
-Savage storm in and says I DON'T LIKE IT. Adonis says the people love him, and he is the man of 1995. He says fur coats are out of style, so he doesn't like George Steele. Savage says Hogan's choice of partners is embarrassing. P-A-I-N IN THE BOSTON GARDEN. DIG IT?!

Match #3: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff vs. Jimmy Jackson/Don Driggers
Sheiky gets to show off a bit here, and he wins with the Camel Clutch, making Jackson humble. This is the first appearance of the vintage WWF inset promo, with Corp. Kirschner wanting at Sheik and Nikolai.
*1/4

INTERVIEWS:
-The anonymous blond interviewer who nobody has ever named announces Sheik/Volkoff vs. The Hart Foundation in a #1 Contender's Match in a rare heel vs. heel match

Match #4: King Tonga/Sivi Afi vs. Gary Semones/Lane Anderson
Haku carries the load of fuck that is Afi, and wins with the Leaping Headbutt.
*1/4

Flower Shop with JYD. No thanks!

In the back, Hogan talks to Paul Orndorff and apologizes about not getting the phone call and says he got in contact with him as soon as he could. Hogan says Paul's trained with him and he knows how hard he works at the gym. Paul nods and says he's ready, and they go. This was good, as it got rid of that sense that Hogan was being a bad friend, and made it so you could make an argument for either side.

Match #5: Hulk Hogan/Paul Orndorff vs. King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan
This actually gets six minutes, so it is a real match in addition to an angle. And it is very good, due to the storytelling. Paul pretty much dominates Studd, getting him in a sunset flip, and even hip tossing him. Good booking to make Orndorff as strong as possible before what comes next. Of course, he can't slam Studd, but Hogan can when he gets in. Hogan did what Paul couldn't do, but that's evened out by Hulk getting isolated, which they couldn't do to Paul. Bundy's stuff all looked really brutal. The ref DQs them for excessive double teaming.
**1/4

Paul Orndorff comes back in, and they run them off.

Paul helps Hogan up and holds his hand up, BUT THEN ORNDORFF LEVELS HIM WITH A NASTY LARIAT! FUCK YEAH! ORNDORFF GETS HOGAN UP, AND HITS THE PILEDRIVER! Hogan, to his credit, took it RIGHT on top of his head, and it's one of the nastiest classic Piledrivers I've ever seen. Bundy and Studd come back in, but the babyfaces rush out to pull Hogan away to safety. AND PAUL ORNDORFF LEAVES WITH THE HEENAN FAMILY, AND HUGS BOBBY HEENAN! SON OF A BITCH!

Fantastic angle. It starts with babyface friction where you can kind of buy both sides, but then the match frames it magnificently as being a lot more around jealousy, and then Orndorff joining The Heenan Family as well was icing on the cake.

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Toronto (July 27th)
Great match, but also a strange one. The first half is classic Steamboat. Arm work that is good, but doesn't get to a point where it becomes a real part of the story, and then Savage takes over after a big Steamboat bump. It's all really great, and then it goes to the floor. Savage bleeds a lot, and there's a ref bump, and the second half feels like they're running a Savage/Tito brawl again, except Steamboat is an inferior brawler at this point. Maybe overall. Steamboat has a number of visual pins, and it turns into a brawl again. They destroy the ringside area, and Savage collapses when trying a slam on the floor, and both men are counted out.

WWF Championship Wrestling
August 9th, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Mario Mancini

AWESOME squash. Super super violent strikes and throws from Orndorff. He throws the jobber to the floor, AND HITS A PILEDRIVER ON THE CONCRETE HOLY SHIT! He gets back in and easily wins by count out.
**

Mancini is stretchered out post-match, and Paul poses to "Real American" to massive boos. This feud is the greatest.

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips of Ricky Steamboat

Match #2: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales vs. Terry Gibbs/Dave Barbie
Tito continues to carry Pedro. He works 2 minutes out of the 2:30 this got, and then Pedro got in at the end to be terrible and win with a botched roll up.
*1/2

INTERVIEWS:
-Jimmy Hart introduces Randy and Adonis. YEAH RIGHT THERE BETWEEN YOUR EYES THAT'S THE STORY YEAH. Savage says he doesn't admire anybody in the world but himself and that's how a man has to be to get ahead, yeah. In good news, the classic Macho Man sunglasses t-shirt that I own and that everyone should own has debuted on this episode.

Match #3: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Mark Faban
Back to 90 seconds, unfortunately. Savage is still the best, and wins with the Flying Elbow.
*1/2

INTERVIEWS:
-Jake Roberts says nothing a fool does surprises him, so maybe he should be surprised that Ricky Steamboat still wants a piece of a snake after he got bit, but it doesn't. He says the time has come for him to move on and for Steamboat to be done, and he's not worried about the match. He says he's not a hard man to find and then the tape cuts to the next match.

Match #4: The Dream Ream w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Paul Roma/Rick Hunter
Good Dream Team squash, yet again. Greg wins with the Figure Four.
*1/2

It is time for The Flower Shop. It is not long, but it is important as he introduces his new bodyguard, COWBOY BOB ORTON! YOU TURNCOAT SON OF A BITCH. Orton says he was making peanuts compared to what Adonis is paying him now, and he'll make sure Hogan never comes close to him.

Before the last match, Blassie introduces the man who has bought half the contracts for his team, and the new co-manager of The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff, THE DOCTOR OF STYLE, SLICK! AWESOME!

Match #5: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie & Slick vs. Corp. Kirschner/Tony Garea
Kirschner was the worst and he was in control for like 90% of this, so it sucked unfortunately. Garea got in at the end to get a cradle on Sheik, but Volkoff reversed it and put Sheik on top for the win. Fucking Corporal Kirschner.

The Hart Foundation vs. The Iron Sheik.Nikolai Volkoff, Boston (August 9th)
Both managers are there. This is a lot of fun, but it's only six minutes, so there's a ceiling to what they can do. It's heel vs. heel, so you have a lot of fun exchanges of cheating. Bret and Neidhart's stuff all looked super sharp again. Slick trips up Bret when he goes for a slam on Nikolai, and Nikolai gets the cover for the win.
**1/4

Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake Roberts, Boston (August 9th)

I don't know why this was a much calmer match than any of their other ones, but it was great regardless. It's rare as fuck to see Jake work the mat like this, so that was really cool. They do this awesome series of spots building upon each other, where Jake puts his arms up to block a chop to the head, so Ricky then punches him in the gut and then chops him in the head. It breaks down, and Steamboat accidentally chops the post. Jake works on the arm, and it's pretty great and inventive stuff for 1986. Steamboat's selling was amazing and Jake has increasingly violent cut-offs focusing on the arm. Steamboat comes back, but only with one arm, as opposed to his earlier flurry, which has him using double arm chops and punches with both hands. The ref is taken out, and Jake goes to get him up, but it allows Ricky to roll him up to win. With a better finish, this might be up there with the Savage/Tito No DQ matches, but it isn't quite there.

WWF Championship Wrestling
August 16th, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The Killer Bees vs. Steve Lombardi/Rusty Brooks

This sure happened. They win with the Bee Attack.
*

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene recaps the Orndorff/Hogan turn
-In amazing foreshadowing, Gene says Hogan may want to choose his friends closer from now on

Match #2: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Terry Morgan/Jim Powers
They get 3 minutes, so this is great. Lots of awesome offense from Bret and Neidhart. Bruno continues to verbally fellate Powers, and Morgan is beat with the Hart Attack.
**

INTERVIEWS:
-The next Boston show is on September 6th, and it will be the Bulldogs vs. Sheik/Volkoff, Bundy/Studd vs. The Machines, and Savage vs. Steele
-Capt. Lou Albano says he won't let George Steele be distracted by Elizabeth. He denies that Giant Machine is Andre the Giant, despite the unfair suspension of Andre the Giant. He challenges them to remove the masks and prove it, if they are so sure.

Match #3: Super Machine w/ Giant Machine & Capt. Lou Albano vs. Ivan McDonald
Yeah, that's Bill Eadie. Solid, but overly long for the stuff Eadie has as Super Machine. He wins with a Swinging Neckbreaker.
*

Bobby Heenan comes out to try and photograph Giant Machine to prove his claims, but Albano chases him off.

INTERVIEWS:
-Sheiky baby and Nikolai come on. Sheik says all his intelligent Boston friends know about the Sheik and his brother Nikolai's backgrounds and that they will get the belts back.

Match #4: The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant vs. Mario Mancini/Jose Luis Rivera
Your typical squash from these teams. Figure Four ends it.
*1/4

It is time for the Flower Shop. Adrian introduces Don Muraco, but nobody comes out. AND FROM BEHIND, FUCKIN RODDY PIPER RETURNS! YEAH! He says he's been doing a tremendous job in his absence, but he's here to take his show back and the first thing to go are these damn flowers. Adrian says this is his show now, and he has another surprise for Piper, and Cowboy Bob Orton comes out in a pink cowboy hat. Piper asks what he's doing and looks legitimately upset. :( Orton says it's all about the money and they pay him way more than Piper did, and Piper asks how much they paid him to wear a pink cowboy hat. Piper asks Bob if he's with them then, and he nods, and Piper says he'll take his show back by himself then.

Match #5: Hercules w/ Slick vs. Tony Atlas
This happened. Hercules still is not much. Slick trips Atlas when he tries a Suplex with his cane, and Herc falls on top to win.

WWF Championship Wrestling
August 23rd, 1986
Poughkeepsie, NY

Match #1: The British Bulldogs w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Iron Mike Sharpe/The Gladiator

The Dream Team do a inset promo demanding a rematch. This was a solid squash, but too short to be great. Davey beats Gladiator with the Running Powerslam. Lacked double teams.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-More coverage of The Machines and Heenan's suspicions

Match #2: King Kong Bundy/John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jimmy Jackson/Tony Garea
John Studd is now going by "The Giant" John Studd. This is a match. Bundy's stuff looks great, and he wins with the Avalanche and Big Splash on Jimmy to win.
*1/4

INTERVIEWS:
-Albano says he can't wait to have both the Tag and Intercontinental Championship after September 6th in Boston, but mainly, he can't wait to see The Machines take out King Kong Bundy and Studd, and he challenges them to try and pull off the mask of Giant Machine to prove if he really is Andre

Match #3: The Rougeau Brothers vs. Mr. X/Les Thornton
The Rougeaus debut, AND THEY ARE AWESOME. They have a lot of really smooth highspots and seem like they could have an amazing series vs. The Hart Foundation or the Bulldogs, if WWF ever did a face/face tag title match. They win with LE CANNONBALL~
**

INTERVIEWS:
-The last Sheik and Volkoff promo is re-aired

Match #4: Roddy Piper vs. AJ Petruzzi
Piper works with one hand behind his back, and beats the shit out of the jobber. Piper gets one arm free at the end, and hits a Scottish Hammer for the win, pinning with one foot.
*3/4

It is time for The Flower Shop, and he introduces his guests Sheik, Volkoff, Slick, and Freddie Blassie. Roddy Piper walks over from the ring and says Adonia told him he could come here at any time, and now he wants to talk. Adonis says this time is for an interview and he'll have time for him later, and Piper throws one of his vases down, and he leaves.

Match #5: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales vs. The Moondogs
Tito again carries Pedro, and I guess this is what he's going to do until Strike Force forms? That sucks. Anyways, he beats Rex with the Flying Forearm.
*1/2

Match #6: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Bob Bradley

This does not need 5 minutes, and as a result is overly long for a basic squash. Muraco finally wins with the Tombstone.

The British Bulldogs [c] vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick [WWF Tag Team Championship], Philadelphia (August 23rd)
This actually sucked. Too much Nikolai in this, and not enough Sheik. Like, Sheik worked maybe 3 minutes out of 12. Then about 7 minutes of that was the Bulldogs controlling and Nikolai stalling. They then control Dynamite with a Bear Hug that lasts literally 3 minutes before Davey is back in. They do stuff and Dynamite beats Sheik with a Diving Headbutt to win.
*3/4

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Pedro Morales [WWF Intercontinental Championship], MSG (August 25th)

Total carryjob, as Savage takes massive massive bumps to make Pedro look like he is great instead of just average. Then of course, his offense is pretty great as usual. Some surprisingly good nearfalls at the end and Pedro wins by count out sort of abruptly. They're fighting on the floor, and Pedro just sort of rolls back in to win.

WWF The Big Event
August 28th, 1986
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Match #1: The Killer Bees vs. The Funk Brothers w/ Jimmy Hart

I miss Terry Funk. B. Brian Blair did what he could here. Jimmy Jack really brought nothing to the table, and Dory was pretty goddamn boring and dull. The Bees pull the twin switch spot with the masks after no real cheating from the Funks, so they came off as cheating pricks instead. Brunzell rolls up JJ Funk to win.
*3/4

Match #2: King Tonga vs. Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji

I really enjoyed their MSG match, but this is a 20:00 draw, so it wasn't as good. I love Meng, and I've grown to like Muraco since I began 1984, but I don't want to see either man in a singles match over 15 minutes, for the most part. They had some good stuff and work well together, don't get me wrong, but yeah, too long. This is released on Coliseum, so they are calling Tonga Haku, so I assume The Islanders form soonish. Slows down huge when Muraco takes over, but the finishing run is solid. Time expires, obviously.
**1/4

Match #3: Ted Arcidi vs. Tony Garea

This wasn't much. Arcidi squash, and he's still awful.
1/2*

Match #4: The Junkyard Dog vs. Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart

I am pleased that they're learning how useless JYD is in the ring, since he's been confined to tag matches on TV, and this is only 4 minutes. Adonis bumps around well for all 4 minutes. He gets thrown into Hart on the apron and tumbles over the top for the count out, so JYD wins.
*3/4

In a pretape, Gene interviews Bobby Heenan and he says tonight will be his masterpiece, as he's going to unmask Andre the Giant tonight, and then he will leave tonight as the manager of the WWF Champion, Heenan says everyone is a part of history tonight, since this is the most people to ever attend a WWF event, but Bobby Heenan MAKES history.

Match #5: King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd/Bobby Heenan vs. Super Machine/Big Machine/Capt. Lou Albano w/ Giant Machine
Big Machine is Blackjack Mulligan. Enjoyable power match, and Heenan's stooging was also tons of fun. Studd gets in illegally, so Giant Machine gets in to attack him for the DQ.
*1/2

They go for Giant Machine's mask, but he fights all the heels off.

Match #6: Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake Roberts [Snake Pit Match]
This is their worst match together yet. It's not bad, but there isn't really anything special about it, and there's no real reason to have the No DQ stip there, as they do nothing with it. They needed more than just 10 minutes too, and Steamboat wins with a roll up.
**1/2

Match #7: Billy Jack Haynes vs. Hercules w/ Slick

This happened. BJH wins.
3/4*

Match #8: The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Dream Team

YES! Very fun 15 minutes, although not quite great. The Rougeaus have tons of amazing offense, and the crowd being super hot for them helps a lot. Valentine got to be brutal and violent again on the control seg, so that was nice. I assume nobody from WWF has gotten into the heads of the Rougeaus yet, as they work the normal great tag formula and not the bullshit Heel in Peril stuff. Also, Misty May and Kerri Walsh are unfuckwithable, in an Olympics interlude. Great finish too, as Greg gets in after faking a tag to put Jacques into the Figure Four, but then Ray gets him with a sunset flip to win.
**3/4

Match #9: Harley Race vs. Pedro Morales

This is a 3 minute Harley showcase as a break before the main event, so it's not much of note. He trips Pedro up and pins him in the ropes to win.
*1/2

Match #10: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship]

This is just about as good as a match can get without being truly great. They took a little too much time before it got going, since Orndorff doesn't have the kind of awesome punches you need to make a punch heavy opening run work. But it picked up a lot when he took over and in the finishing run. Ref bump happens, and then Hogan takes over. He raises Paul's hand and then clotheslines him down in revenge. He goes for the Piledriver, but Heenan hits him in the back with a wooden stool. Paul covers, but the ref saw it, and he DQ's Paul.

Savage gets 3 minutes, so he knocks it out of the park once again. Flying Elbow does the job.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene covers Harley Race winning King of the Ring, and says he will now go by King Harley Race

Match #2: The Junkyard Dog/George Steele w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Mr. X/The Gladiator
Whatever. Nothing to see here.
FINAL EDITION OF CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING THUMP

Post-match, JYD introduces his friend, The Honky Tonk Man! They all dance, and HTM as a face is very strange.

INTERVIEWS:
-Randy Savage comes on. He says last time in the Boston Garden, his building where he won his title, it was a terrible night. He says he's going to embarrass George Steele again. He says he's better than the best and he's once in 10,000 lifetimes, yeah.

Match #3: Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Tommy Sharpe
Orndorff again comes out to "Real American". Another great heel Mr. Wonderful beating. Piledriver ends it.
*3/4

INTERVIEWS:
-Bobby Heenan says Andre The Giant is Giant Machine, and Super Machine is some bum. He guarantees the masks will come off in Boston.

Match #4: Dick Slater vs. Jimmy Jack Funk w/ Jimmy Hart
FUCK YEAH! Awesome Slater punches and offense. Dory Funk comes out to attack Slater after 2 minutes for a DQ.
*1/2

Slater grabs his bullrope, and he runs off the Funks.

It is time for the Flower Shop. The guest is King Harley Race, Heenan officially coronates him as royalty, and Jerry Lawler's music plays. I almost got really excited, because holy shit, that match in 1986 would be fantastic.

Match #5: The American Express vs. Steve Lombardi/Gino Carabello
Horrible 5 minute squash. In an inset promo, Roddy Piper says he's been given permission to be the guest on The Flower Shop next week. Bulldog from Spivey ends it.
1/2*

Goodbye, Championship Wrestling.

*

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene covers Superstar Billy Graham, who is making a comeback
-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Match #2: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Koko B. Ware/Paul Roma
KOKO! YEAH! He trained Maxie Mifflin, so you know Koko's awesome. You can tell Vince just LOVES Koko. There's a difference between Vince putting a guy over on commentary like normal, and when Vince loves someone and gets excited about them, and it's super entertaining. He never gets into the match though, and the Harts squash Roma. Awesome squash as usual, and the Hart Attack ends it.
**

Koko runs off the Hart Foundation post-match.

INTERVIEWS:
-Randy Savage says he made the Boston Garden famous on February 8th, and he says he can't wait to get George Steel off of his back. Savage says he's going to teach the Animal a new word besides "Elizabeth" and "Nice", and that's pain.

Match #3: Hillbilly Jim/Cousin Luke vs. Pete Doherty/Ron Shaw
Vince might love Koko, but his Hillbilly Jim verbal fellatio gets to a near Shawn Michaels 1996 level. Jim quickly wins with the Bear Hug.
1/2*

INTERVIEWS:
-Blond interviewer runs down the card

Match #4: Kamala w/ Kimchee & King Curtis vs. Tommy Sharpe
FUCK YEAH KAMALA'S BACK! He was pretty awesome, and this was a great squash. Big Splash ends it.
*3/4

It is time for the Flower Shop. Adrian says he is here under protest, because his guest does not belong here. He introduces Piper, who comes on with a bat. He says he did not to come here to tell Adonis that he looks like he needs a home pregnancy test, but he came here for a reason. He hands a piece of paper about ratings to Jimmy Hart, and it says The Flower Shop is bad for ratings, and hands Hart another piece of paper. He says that the Flower Shop will be off the air next week, and Piper's Pit will return! YEAH!

Match #5: The Rougeau Brothers vs. Bob Bradley/Mike Fever
Rougeaus deliver again. Awesome offense and double teams, and LE CANNONBALL~ gets the win.
**

Match #6: King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. SD Jones/Corp. Kirschner

Slick and Albano are there. Thankfully, this is only 7 minutes, so they don't have to try and fill 15. As a result, it is...not better. That would imply it was good in some way. But it was less horrible. Boston brings the awful with a "USA!" chant. I guess they love Slick and Albano. They do the double inside cradle reversal for the champions to retain.

Good Paul squash, and I am happy that he is disposing of this pile of shit. Orndorff is still coming out to "Real American". He and Heenan do an inset promo and he says the next time, Hogan won't get up from the Piledriver. Paul beats Afi with the Piledriver too.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene goes over Harley Race's coronation

Match #2: Sika w/ King Curtis Iaukea vs. Don Driggers
This isn't amazing or anything, but was not bad. Vince criticizes referee Danny Davis for letting a lot of cheating slide. Sika wins with a Samoan Drop.
*

INTERVIEWS:
-WWF comes back to Boston on October 4th
-Tito vs. Race! Heenan/Bundy/Studd vs. The Machines/Piper Machine! Savage vs. Bundy for the IC Title in a No DQ match!
-Randy Savage comes in and says they should pretend that the blond interviewer is Jack Tunney, but maybe not, because he'd spit in his face. He says this degrades him and the title to have to face this bum again

Match #3: The Islanders vs. The Moondogs
This is Tonga Kid and King Tonga, now going by Tama and Fatu, respectively. This is unfortunate, as it means Haku must continue to carry fucking Tonga Kid. Haku is still the best guy on offense, and Tama wins with a Flying Splash off the top.
*1/2

INTERVIEWS:
-Harley Race says Boston is where the King was crowned. He says Tito is a rung on a long ladder, and he'll stop on him just like everyone else. Blond interviewer asks Heenan about the six man, and says he knows Piper is Piper Machine and it's none of his business. He says Piper's beef is with Adonis, not him, but they'll teach him.

Match #4: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Troy Martin
Savage squashing a young Shane Douglas is great. Savage squashing anyone is great. Savage squashing someone for a full 2 minutes is the greatest of all. Pedro Morales does an inset promo and complains about how Savage treats the fans and Elizabeth, and says he wants him. Flying Elbow ends it for Savage.
**

It is time for Piper's Pit, and he yells, "THE BOSS IS BACK!" He says he got rid of them damn flowers and this host is all man. He introduces blond interviewer, and finally gives him a name, and it is Ken Resnick. Adonis and Orton come up and he calls Piper a Judas and a backstabber and an egotistical HAMBONE. Mom plz. I am tournament win. He says Piper is old news, and The Flower Shop has class, unlike this pit. Adonis challenges him in two weeks to have a debate with him with The Flower Shop vs. Piper's Pit, and Piper accepts.

Match #5: Giant Machine/Big Machine/Super Machine w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Rick Hunter/JJ Jackson/Al Navarro
Short, but enjoyable enough. Giant Machine pins Hunter after a Heart Punch. HOLY SHIT IT'S OX BAKER!
*

Match #6: The British Bulldogs w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Les Thornton/Jack Foley

Another future name as a jobber here. This is sort of an infamous squash for how brutal the Bulldogs were with Foley. It reaches a level of violence usually reserved for Steiners squashes. Dynamite destroys Foley with a Back Superplex for the win.

Match #1: The American Express vs. The Dream Team w/ Johnny Valiant

I'm upset with Greg Valentine for getting these fucks on the board, since he refuses to let a shitty match happen. Spivey gets Beefcake with his shitty Bulldog, but Valiant breaks the count with a cane shot for the DQ.
*1/2

The American Express runs off The Dream Team now.

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene puts over The Honky Tonk Man
-In a pretape, HTM says people know he can wrestle, but people demand that he sings, so he made his own studio and he's laying down some tracks and soon, everyone will get to hear his song, and the bad guys will shake, rattle, and roll away from the Honky Tonk Man

Match #2: The Junkyard Dog/George Steele w/ Capt. Lou Albano vs. Tony Nardo/Steve Lombardi
This is still not a team that will put out good matches ever. JYD wins with the slam.
ANIMAL THUMP

INTERVIEWS WITH KEN:
-We are now in the New York market, promoting MSG shows!
-It will be Hulk Machine/The Machines (Super and Big) vs. The Heenan Family now
-ALSO, THE HARTS VS. ROUGEAUS! AWESOME!

Clips air of the Piper/Adonis altercations.

Match #3: The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff/Hercules Hernandez w/ Slick & Freddie Blassie vs. Billy Jack Haynes/Nick Kiniski/Mario Mancini
Unfortunately, this had WAY too much Hercules in it to be any good. Mancini is gone after the Torture Rack.

INTERVIEWS WITH KEN:
-Hulk Hogan says the Hulkamaniacs know who created everything brother. He says Paul was on the verge of greatness, but he sold it out out of jealousy, and he was gonna take him out soon. He says he is a traitor, just like the dudes in Washington who sell the people out, and he was gonna make him pay for killing all those little Hulksters, dude. Wait, what?

Match #4: Jake Roberts vs. Tony Garea
Another great Jake squash. DDT does the job.
**

Jake tries to put the snake on him, but officials pull Garea out before Jake can.

Video airs of Adrian preparing The Flower Shop for next week.

Match #5: The Killer Bees vs. Joe Mirto/Jack Kruger
This was the best Bees squash in a while. Still went too even with the jobbers, but at least it looked good this time, due to Blair doing most of the work. Kamala, Curtis, and Kimchee walk around ringside for no real reason. They have a TERRIBLE new finish, where Blair drops down and the opponent jumps over him and into a Butt But from Brunzell. God fucking damnit.
*1/2

Match #6: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Lanny Poffo

This was great! Poffo showed off some cool athletic stuff, and Muraco got violent. He wins with the Tombstone.

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship], Philadelphia (September 20th)
Like in Toronto, the opening punch off leaves a lot to be desired, but things pick up big time once they move into a brawl based more on Orndorff's knees and elbows, which are like 100x better than his punches. There is a ref bump, and Paul hits Hogan with brass knucks. Paul wakes up the ref, but Hogan has enough time to kick out and Hulk Up. He is bleeding now and takes the knuckles. The ref tries to stop him, so Hogan hits the ref for a DQ.
**3/4

Hogan keeps trying to attack Paul, and has to be held back by referees, Koko, and the Islanders.

The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Hart Foundation, MSG (September 22nd)
Lots of amazing matwork between Bret and both Rougeaus, and then fast paced Rougeau offense. The Harts continue to be great at making the "heel in peril" nonsense work, as the frame it more as neither of them being able to figure out the Rougeaus so it comes off as a logical feeling out process. They isolate one of them after cheating on the floor. Great control seg as usual there, and then Raymond has a quality hot tag and gets Anvil with a sunset flip to win.
***

Tito Santana vs. Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan, MSG (September 22nd)

This was also great. Early on, Race takes the Triple H corner bump and does it in a way that doesn't look like shit, despite him being slower. Instead of the insane whiplash style of 1990s Shawn Michaels or Triple H's obviously fake bouncing off the ropes before tumbling over, Harley is sent flying into the top rope and top buckle with his entire body, and then takes the fall to the floor. Between this and the high knee, I now realize the only things about Harley that Triple H got right when emulating him were the Lemmy beard (which is admittedly, insanely badass) and the $100,000 bounty angle. Anyways, yeah, it's Race and slightly past his prime but still trying hard Tito for 15 or so minutes, so it's great. Tito gets super fired up, and Race keeps taking huge bumps. Lots of awesome punches and throws by both guys. Really, make a list of what you'd want from this in a normal non-bloody brawl type match with these two, and this delivers that. Weak finish though, as Tito is distracted by Heenan and Harley rolls him up to win.
***1/4

Hulk Machine/Big Machine/Super Machine vs. King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd/Bobby Heenan, MSG (September 22nd)

Hulk Machine has the full Machines gear on, but with a Hulkamania headband on. Awesome. This is a fun bullshit "send the crowd home happy" house show main event. The Machines all look solid, Bundy is good, and Studd continues to look a lot better recently than he did in 1984 or 1985. Heenan is fantastic. Hogan beats Studd with the slam and the Legdrop.

Match #1: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Troy Martin

Another good Race squash. Only 90 seconds though, and he wins with the accidental Fisherman's Buster thing that isn't quite a Fisherman's Suplex.

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene shows clips of Ricky Steamboat, and says the final Steamboat/Roberts match will take place at SNME next week
-CLIPS OF STEAMBOAT FIGHTING NINJAS

Match #2: Superstar Billy Graham vs. Bob Bradley
WHY?! Graham was never that good of a wrestler, and he is worse now. He wins with a Bear Hug.
45/poop

INTERVIEWS WITH KEN:
-We're back to Boston now, plugging Savage/Animal No DQ and Piper Machine!
-Bobby Heenan says he knows Roddy Piper is Piper Machine, and he knows who the other two are, but he won't give them the respect of revealing their identities. He says Bundy and Studd will take all their masks off, and then they'll come for Giant Machine.

Match #3: Kamala w/ Kimchee & The Wizard vs. Tony Parks
Another very enjoyable Kamala squash. Big Splash ends it.
*3/4

INTERVIEWS WITH KEN:
-Tito Santana says Heenan has helped Race put down a lot of wrestlers, but Boston is his town. He then says a lot of stuff in Mexican

It is time for The Flower Shop vs. Piper's Pit, and Roddy comes out first to a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE pop. Adonis brings on his guest, his bodyguard, Bob Orton. He asks Bob who the best host is, and he says Adrian does and says Piper's show is old hat. Piper comes over to the shop and says Ace is an ugly son of an unnamed goat and he couldn't hold his jock on his BEST day. Ace says he carried the load, and Piper throws off his hat. Piper drags the cameraman back to the Pit set and says the boss is back. He says he's not a nice guy, he doesn't wear a white hat, but this guy is ruining his timeslot and it makes him sick. He brings on his guest, Don Muraco. He shits on Muraco's leisure suit, and Muraco says at least he's not in a skirt. Adonis keeps interrupting, and Muraco gets mad at not being the focus and says Adonis has so much more class, AND ORTON CHEAP SHOTS PIPER! They all beat on Piper and Adonis repeatedly hits Roddy's knee with chair shots, until officials come and get them away.

Match #4: Butch Reed w/ Slick vs. William Tabb
FUCK YEAH BUTCH REED! Only a minute or so, but everything looked great, and he wins with a Flying Clothesline.
*1/4

Match #5: Tito Santana vs. Jimmy Jack Funk

Good Tito showcase. JJF is now a jobber, as nature intended. Figure Four gives Tito the win.

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. George Steele [WWF Intercontinental Championship - No DQ], Boston (October 4th)
This is only 4 minutes, but it was decent enough due to Savage being Randy Savage. It's the 80s, so they still find a way to get a fuck finish out of this stip. The Animal chokes Randy on the floor with his robe, but lets go to get a chair, and it allows Randy to slide in to win by count out.
**

Steele beats up Savage with the chair post-match.

Piper Machine/Big Machine/Super Machine vs. King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd/Bobby Heenan, Boston (October 4th)
A lesser version of the MSG match from 9/22, due to an inferior crowd and Hogan being better suited for this match than Piper is. Still fun, but not as good. Bundy accidentally hits Studd with a Big Splash when Piper moves off of the cover, and he covers Studd to win.
**

Tito Santana vs. Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan, Boston (October 4th)

They deserve much credit for changing things up from MSG. They have their same big bumps, but they change up the order and have more matwork. It's less of a big fight than MSG and more cerebral. Still great. Race's work on the back is stellar, and Tito's selling rules. Great slugfest on the comeback, while Tito is still selling, and Tito also targets the back in revenge. Race gets violent and upset with this and throws nasty knees to the face. Finish is really abrupt though even compared to their first match, making it not as good as MSG. Classic Harley spot as he hits a Back Suplex, and the ref counts both men's shoulders down and Tito gets his off the mat to win, which is great as it means another match and that Tito isn't a total jobber to the stars yet.

Koko! He is full of energy, and it is fantastic. He wins with the Ghostbuster, which is an awesome name for a Brainbuster.
*1/2

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips of Hillbilly Jim

Match #2: Sika w/ The Wizard vs. Mario Mancini
Another decent squash. Samoan Drop ends it.

INTERVIEWS:
-I already covered the Boston show, so ehatever

Match #3: The Honky Tonk Man vs. Ron Shaw
Babyface HTM is so weird and unnatural, and he sucks as a face. Vince LOVES HTM. Honky wins with a Fistdrop off the middle.
3/4*

More interviews.

Match #4: Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Don Haskins
Orndorff delivers big time once again with a nasty nasty squash. Piledriver ends it.
**

It is time for The Flower Shop, but Roddy Piper hobbles on with a crutch, and he starts swinging it. Everyone leaves, and Piper wrecks the set with a bat, and says these sons of bitches won't keep him down for long.

Match #5: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Dan McGuire
Great Savage squash as always, but too short to be great. Flying Elbow does the job.
*3/4

Match #6: The Killer Bees vs. The Moondogs

Decent match for some 3 minutes. Blair keeps being awesome, and then Rex accidentally elbow drops Spot, and Blair covers Spot to win.
