WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
OCTOBER 4TH, 1986
RICHFIELD, OH

TONIGHT: HOGAN VS. ORNDORFF FOR THE BELT! STEAMBOAT VS. SAVAGE! BULLDOGS VS. DREAM TEAM IN BEST OF THREE FALLS!

PROMOS:
-Jake Roberts is in the shower with Damien and says there are winners and losers, and Ricky Steamboat will be a loser inside the Snake Pit
-Johnny V says his Dream Team will regain the belts, and the Bulldogs are full of bull-you-know-what
-Kamala makes sounds
-Orndorff is posing in front of a mirror, and Heenan says this is the next WWF Champion
-Hulk Hogan says tonight is the night that Benedict Arnold finally goes down. He says he sold out the Hulkamaniacs, BUT WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU?!

In the back, Gene is with Piper on crutches, and says Pedro Morales will replace Piper tonight in his match against The Iron Sheik, due to physicians not clearing him. Piper says nobody tells the Hot Rod what to do, and he won't let those idiots say they put out Roddy Piper, and he wrestles when he wants to wrestle.

Clips air of Orndorff turning on Hogan.

Match #1: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship]
Maybe their best match in this current series, due to a lack of a punch-off to start. Heenan interferes a ton, and is ejected, but Orndorff has control by then. Lots of his awesome knees and elbows. The Piledriver is blocked to protect the move, and the Hulk Up feels more natural as a result, in terms of Superman comebacks in wrestling at least, since he's just fighting back from a normal beatdown. He goes for the Piledriver, but Adonis runs in for the DQ.
**3/4

They beat on him, BUT FUCKING RODDY PIPER HOBBLES OUT WITH HIS CRUTCHES TO RUN OFF ADONIS! Hogan fights Orndorff, and the heels bail. Hogan and Piper go to hit each other out of instinct, but Hogan stops. He goes to thank Roddy, but he shakes his head and leaves on his own. Great angle.

In the back, Gene interviews Jake, and he says it's more shameful to deny fear than it is to run from danger, and Ricky Steamboat is the most shameful man he's ever seen.

Match #2: Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake Roberts [Snake Pit Match]
Only six minutes, but it is decent. These Snake Pit matches have been SO disappointing, given that they're mostly full of matwork and average wrestling, compared to their early frantic brawls, and Jake's incredible performance in the Boston match from August. Steamboat wins with a crucifix pin to counter a lazy pin from Jake.
**1/2

Steamboat gets out the Komodo dragon to drive off Jake and Damien post-match.

In the back, Gene interviews Hogan and he says he was very close tonight to losing the WWF Title, and Hogan snaps and yells at Gene to never talk about that again, jack. What a dick. He says he promised he would be the judge, jury, and executioner for the traitor Mr. Wonderful, but after tonight, he's including Bobby Heenan in his verdict, and he was declaring them guilty as charged.

Before Pedro/Sheik, Piper comes back out and runs off Pedro to be in the match.

Match #3: Roddy Piper vs. The Iron Sheik w/ Slick
This was not much, solely because it was 45 seconds and Piper wins with a cradle.
3/4*

In the back, Gene interviews The Dream Team. Beefcake says they gave the Bulldogs like 15 title matches before they won the belts, and since WrestleMania 2, the Bulldogs have been ducking giving them a proper rematch. Valentine says anyone who says the Bulldogs can beat them is either blind, stupid, or a liar.

Match #4: The British Bulldogs [c] vs. The Dream Team [WWF Tag Team Championship - Best of Three Falls]
Albano and Valiant are there. This was their best match all year, due to it being 10 minutes of pretty much all action. It's still not great though, since it's 10 minutes for 3 falls, and it's a little bit rushed. Beefcake was even trying hard! They work on DK's leg, and Valentine gets fall #1 with the Figure Four. Dynamite's selling is actually good for once. They then beat Valentine with the Ode to Themselves. Good action in the final fall, and Beefcake accidentally misses a high knee and hits the corner, and Bulldog gets a Fisherman's Suplex to retain the belts.
**3/4

Before the final match, Jesse says Adonis' elbow was injured by Piper's crutch shot earlier.

Match #5: Kamala w/ Kimchee & The Wizard vs. Lanny Poffo
Very fun Kamala squash again, and he wins with the Big Splash.

Match #1: The British Bulldogs vs. The Dream Team

Both managers are there, as well as Matilda! I hate this match up. No matter if it's good or not, I just hate it. They've been running it for over a year now, and it's almost never different. They go 4 minutes and the Dream Team is DQ'd for Johnny V's interference.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Footage airs from Jake/Steamboat from SNME

Match #2: Bob Orton/Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Sivi Afi/Billy Jack Haynes
Orton and Muraco come out to Piper's music and in kilts. They gel really really well, but this is only 90 seconds. Orton hits Afi with a Superplex to win.
*1/2

INTERVIEWS:
-Randy Savage says Don Muraco and Jake Roberts have given Steamboat brain damage, and he's gonna make him a three time loser. He tells Ricky to look close at his belt, because he's just not that good. He kisses the belt and says it's a love affair that will last forever, and no Dragon is going to stop it.

Match #3: King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Dick Slater/Rick Hunter
Slater as a jobber :( . This was short and Slater never got in. Hunter is beat after the Avalanche and Big Splash.
3/4*

INTERVIEWS:
-Ricky Steamboat says everyone wants Savage, but he makes people work for it. He says he's been DDT'd by the Snake and hung by Don Muraco, but he's worked his way up to the top of the ladder, etc.

Match #4: The Rougeau Brothers vs. Hercules/Barry O
This has an inset from Danny Davis saying he's a fair referee. Awesome Rougeaus squash again, and LE CANNONBALL~ gets the win.
**

Video airs of a new Piper's Pit set being made.

Clips air of Piper saving Hogan from SNME.

Match #5: The Islanders/Pedro Morales vs. The Hart Foundation/Ken Glover w/ Jimmy Hart
This is decent enough. Haku vs. the Harts is great, and then the Harts' jobber partner is beat up. Tama beats him with a Flying Splash.
*1/4

Bret and Anvil then hit Glover with the Hart Attack.

Match #6: The Junkyard Dog/George Steele vs. Steve Regal/Terry Gibbs
Not that Regal. :( This is not good. SLAM. THUMP. FART.

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. The Honky Tonk Man [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Philadelphia (October 18th)
The actual greatest IC Champ ever vs. the fake maycabe one! Honky is in tights and suspenders, finally explaining where Tommy Dreamer got the inspiration for his early gear from. This is mostly based on stalling and shtick, although it's heel Savage vs. HTM, so I really don't know what I expected. Savage eventually takes over, and that is fun. He also takes insane bumps for the comeback. They fight on the floor, and Savage is against the post. Honky runs in, but Savage kicks him in the jaw and slides in to win.
**1/4

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship - Hogan Can Lose Title on DQ], Philadelphia (October 18th)

THIS IS AWESOME. Paul jumps Hulk with knees, and doesn't throw punches with him, and Hogan is PISSED. He throws some really great punches and bleeds a ton, and the crowd is INSANE. Heenan and Paul keep cheating like crazy in sight of the ref, and almost dare Hogan to get DQ'd to lose the title. Hogan Hulks Up out of a normal situation, which is great. He throws Heenan in to distract the ref, so he can hit Orndorff with a chair on the floor. Hogan rolls back in, and Orndorff is counted out, setting up a rematch.

Match #1: Koko B. Ware vs. Moondog Spot

FUCK YEAH KOKO! Spot looks great in his brief offense, and they have a ton of energy and get like 4 minutes. So yeah, it's good. Koko wins with the Ghostbuster.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Blackjack Mulligan is coming back

Match #2: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick
Tito and Sheik make this pretty good for 3 minutes. And then Volkoff and Pedro are there too. Morales has the Boston Crab on Sheik, but Nikolai kicks him in the chest and Danny Davis counts the pin despite Volkoff not being legal.
**

INTERVIEWS:
-The Bulldogs introduce Matilda again

Match #3: The Islanders vs. Steve Lombardi/Barry O
Haku shines and Tama is there as he does so, as usual. Tama gets the pinfall after the Flying Splash.
*1/2

INTERVIEWS:
-Randy Savage says this show is on November 1st, so he has no tolerance for a Dragon showing up. He says he likes to control his own atmosphere and yells, "I'M TALKING ABOUT TIME DISTORTION, YEAH! IT'S A TALENT, MR. TV ANNOUNCER!" He says he's the best there ever was, and Ricky will find that in a week. MACHO MADNESS! DIG IT?! THE BEST.

Match #4: Jake Roberts vs. Troy Martin
I had no idea Shane Douglas was one of the regular jobbers. So that's almost interesting. Jake is a great squasher as a heel, as always, and the DDT ends the match.
**

It is time for Piper's Pit, and he has a new set. Mr. Fuji is already there and Piper says he just did his laundry, so he doesn't need Fuji right now. Fuji has a bag of fortune cookie, and reads one, and says a man with only one good leg cannot HOP to win! HA! He throws cookies at Fuji, and Piper shoves him. Fuji says he will pay, and challenges him to a match next week, and Piper accepts.

Match #5: The Rougeau Brothers vs. Jimmy Jack Funk/Steve Regal
The Rougeaus deliver again. Awesome double teams, crisp high flying, etc. LE CANNONBALL~ does the deal. Almost as well as a Falcon Arrow would!
**

Match #6: Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Orndorff vs. Lanny Poffo

This is about one minute, which is not fair, because they could have put out a great squash. Piledriver ends it.

The Superstars '86 pack is missing the 11/1, 11/8, and 11/15 episodes, so I'll review a segment from the 11/15 show that I was really looking forward to:

It is time for Piper's Pit, and there are four men in suits there too. Piper says firstly that he does not pick out his own guests, and there's a lot of people who have come on the Pit that he doesn't like. He says he didn't pick this man, but he's waited a LONG time to have him on his Pit, AND HIS GUEST IS HULK HOGAN! HOLY SHIT!

Posted Image

They glare at each other, but Hogan nods and backs off. He says he wanted to come on here anyways, since it's the only time he could talk to Piper without even the chance of them coming to blows, because he wants to compliment him for getting rid of The Flower Shop, but he also wanted to thank him for helping him at Saturday Night's Main Event. He says they're both fighters and they're alike, but they couldn't be two bigger opposites. Piper says more than anyone, Hogan would know just how much of a fighter he is. Hogan says he doesn't know if Piper is on the high or low road right now, but they both lead to the same place, and that's the WWF Title, and Piper says Hogan knows he's coming for it, and Hogan nods.

No idea what was up with this, as it sets up a Hogan/Piper face vs. face match, which is SUPER fucking interesting, and feels like how the finish of the Piper/Orndorff SNME Cage Match in 1987 feels, like it's there to set up a potential replacement for the WrestleMania III main event. Disappointing though, as it gets you really excited for a match that never happens.

Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Boston (November 1st)
It's these two, so it's pretty great no matter what. It's about what you would expect. Steamboat works the arm a lot, and Savage takes over with cheating. His selling of the arm on transition is great, and Savage has his typically great control segment. Ricky has an awesome comeback, and Savage takes gigantic pinball bumps as usual. Savage cheats again and sends him to the floor. He goes for the Flying Double Axehandle to the floor, but Steamboat moves! Savage holds his leg on the floor and Steamboat gets back in to win by count out.
***1/4

The British Bulldogs [c] vs. The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart [WWF Tag Team Championship], Boston (November 1st)

I have missed this match up dearly. There was a cool Anvil/Davey power battle early on. The highlight of which was Davey catching a Crossbody try from Neidhart and in one smooth motion, slamming him back down. The Harts continue to say "fuck this" to the Heel in Peril bullshit formula, and it's why they're the best. Great control seg on Davey, full of lots of different and cool cut-offs. Dynamite has his best hot tag , and there is a ref bump. He is woozy and the Harts abuse it for illegal tags. Finish sucks though, as Davey gets in illegally in revenge and rolls up Anvil to win. Except the ref is still selling, so they do a super slow count off of a roll up, and it comes off as clearly fake. Still a great match.
***

Roddy Piper vs. Don Muraco, Boston (November 1st)

This is great, but only 5 minutes. Piper delivers a great chaotic brawl again. Piper's leg selling rules, and Muraco is fun here too. Some enjoyable bumps and sells and when he gets on offense, everything looks good. Piper has this fantastic spirited comeback. Muraco accidentally gets Fuji and Piper rolls him up to win. Hot crowd helped this a lot.

Randy Savage [c] vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Philadelphia (November 8th)
Same general idea as the Boston match with the Steamboat armwork and the missed dive to the floor for a count out. Different actual match though, and shorter. Steamboat changes up his arm work well. Savage has better selling here, and has this really fantastic little selling spot where he grabs the ropes to block the Sunset Flip, but goes down because he grabbed with his weak arm, and goes down for the flip while holding his arm. And yeah, same finish with the missed dive hurting Randy's leg. Steamboat wins by count out.
***1/4

Roddy Piper vs. Bob Orton w/ Jimmy Hart, Philadelphia (November 8th)

Same idea as Piper/Muraco, but slightly better, due to these two having more chemistry. Awesome chaotic Piper brawl, with less focus on the knee than the Muraco match. Orton accidentally hits Jimmy on the apron and Piper rolls him up to win.

Tito Santana vs. Butch Reed, Toronto (November 16th)
I love WWF 1986 so much. They give me a Tito/Butch Reed 20 minute draw! I didn't even think this match was possible. It's like finding out there's a fucking AMW vs. Cape Fear match in 2006 or something. This isn't amazing or anything, but it's very good. Lots of quality stalling, Tito's strikes all look great, matwork is fun. Good power vs. speed story going on. Butch's control seg is good stuff, and then you get the Tito comeback, and he hits the Flying Forearm, but Butch rolls out and time expires.

WWF Superstars
November 22nd, 1986
Binghamton, NY

Match #1: Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship]

Obviously not as great as the house show matches, but still very good. More of an angle than a great match, but it gets like 7 minutes on Superstars, which is huge. Savage drops Ricky throat-first on the railing on the floor, and keeps him over the railing. He goes up top AND HITS THE DIVE TO SEND HIM THROAT-FIRST INTO THE RAILING BAH GAWD! Savage gets back in to win by count out.
**1/2

He throws Ricky Steamboat into the ring post-match, and grabs the ring bell. Savage goes up top, AND JUMPS DOWN WITH THE RING BELL AND PUTS IT INTO STEAMBOAT'S THROAT HOLY SHIT! Steamboat rolls around holding his throat, and is stretchered out after Savage and Liz get out of the ring. Awesome angle.

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene goes over the Orndorff/Hogan feud

Match #2: The Junkyard Dog vs. Al Navarro
THUMP
45/THUMP

In the back, Bruno is reporting and says Steamboat has been taken to the hospital.

INTERVIEWS:
-HOGAN VS. KAMALA NEXT TIME IN BOSTON! AWESOME!
-Hogan comes in and says he ain't scared of no giant, man. He says Kamala is a big ape that belongs in the zoo, and he's ready to tame that ape, brother. He says the Hulkster is back on track, jack, and he is the only champion Boston needs.

Match #3: Dino Bravo w/ Johnny V vs. Kurt Kaufmann
Dino Bravo is still THE WORST. He wins with a Back Suplex.
1/2*

Replays air of the Savage/Steamboat attack.

Match #4: Dick Slater vs. Jimmy Jack Funk
Only 90 seconds, but it was pretty great due to Slater being Slater. He wins with a Flying Elbow off the middle, Bret-style.
*1/2

It is time for Piper's Pit, and he brings on Kamala, The Wizard, and Kimchee. Piper asks about the Kamala chest paint, and Wizard says he has to keep Kamala under great control, and this is not really anything of note. Piper asks them to not let Kamala breed.

In a pretape, Jesse is with Honky Tonk Man to announce the results of the Vote of Confidence that HTM asked people to do about him. He says 71,000 voted that they liked him, but 603,000 said they don't like him or want him in the WWF. He says those figures must be wrong and he's going to get to the bottom of this.

Match #5: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales/Hillbilly Jim vs. The Dream Team/Johnny Valiant
This is luckily only 3 minutes. Tito vs. Valentine is still awesome, from the brief flashes we get in the middle. Santana gets the Figure Four on Brutus, but then Valentine breaks it up. It winds up in a brawl, and the ref calls for the bell, and because it's Danny Davis, he DQ'd the babyfaces for starting it by getting in illegally.

Hulk Hogan/Roddy Piper vs. Paul Orndorff/Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan, MSG (November 24th)
Really really fun 8 minute house show match. Piper and Hogan play their partnership with a tone of trying to top each other, and repeatedly almost coming to blows, and it was super entertaining. Fun matwork with Piper and Race at a point too, and Hogan and Piper have great work on the arm of Race. Piper is then isolated. Orndorff is wearing two heavy looking pads on his biceps, so I figure his accident has happened at this point. Piper is a great face in peril, and Hogan gets back in. Orndorff accidentally clotheslines Harley, and Piper covers to win, because Danny Davis is a bad referee who doesn't notice legal men.

Match #1: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Lanny Poffo

Really great for 90 seconds, but still only 90 seconds. Race wins with the Fisherman's Buster.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene announces that Jack Tunney has lifted the suspension on Andre the Giant, but says Tunney has neglected to say why it was lifted.

Match #2: The American Express vs. Rick Renslow/Dave Wagner
BOOOOOOOOOOOO.
1/2*

INTERVIEWS:
-Hogan comes in. Hogan says Kamala might get his power from The Wizard, but he'll bend him in half just like a parking meter, dude. He says he isn't an every day cut of beef for Kamala to chew on. He says he's the king of the jungle in the WWF, and the pythons will squeeze the life out of him.

In a pretape, Honky Tonk Man says he counted the votes himself and he couldn't believe after he shook all the greasy nasty hands, that this would happen. He says he won't take any more of it, and he'll have a big surprise for everyone, because he can be just as mean and nasty as everyone else, and they deserve it now.

Match #3: Kamala w/ Team Kamala vs. Bob Boyer
Great short squash. Kamala hits a Splash off the top now to win.
*1/2

The jobber is stretchered out post-match.

INTERVIEWS:
-JYD says words

Match #4: The British Bulldogs vs. The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart
This is about 5 minutes, so it's not their best, but this pairing is pretty much always good. Danny Davis is still a terrible ref and misses Hart hitting Dynamite with the megaphone, and they then hit Dynamite with the Hart Attack for the win, which should ensure many more matches.
**1/4

It is time for Piper's Pit, and Jimmy Hart comes on. He says he's not interviewing George Steele, because he gave him a poster of Elizabeth, so he's drooling in the back somewhere. Hart has a crutch with him, and Piper takes it and throws it behind him. Hart demands respect and asks Piper why, BUT ADONIS COMES FROM BEHIND AND HITS PIPER WITH THE CRUTCH! He puts Piper in the Sleeper Hold until he passes out. Adonis throws flowers down on Piper, and they celebrate over him.

Clips air of Savage's attack on Steamboat from last week.

Gene interviews a doctor, who says Ricky cannot speak, and will require speech therapy. He says he also doesn't know if he can breath, so that's also important. Holy shit, why was that not first? This guy is a hack.

Match #5: Butch Reed w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Max Blue
Awesome squash as usual, but only about a minute. :( Butch wins with a Flying Clothesline.

WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
NOVEMBER 29TH, 1986
LOS ANGELES, CA

TONIGHT: SAVAGE VS. ROBERTS FOR THE IC TITLE! HOGAN VS. HERC FOR THE WWF TITLE! PIPER VS. ORTON! KILLER BEES VS. HART FOUNDATION!

PROMOS:
-Jake talks to Damien and says the only to get the title is to SQUEEZE, but they've got ways, and tells Macho Man to try him if he feels lucky
-Randy Savage yells at Liz to polish his belt
-Koko B. Ware says he'll get that big Russian
-Piper says he's the toughest man in the world, and he's gonna squash some worms tonight. It won't be pretty, but he will be.
-The Hart Foundation says nobody likes bees, and you can squash them, you can spray them, or you can give them a Hart Attack.
-Hulk Hogan says he knew someday, he'd have to fight a superhuman like Hercules, dude, and says he'll go running back to his daddy Zeus for help, and then he'll fight Zeus too. WHY DID HE HAVE TO SAY THAT?!

In the back, Gene interviews Jake Roberts. He says a lot of people shake his hand once, but very few shake it a second time, because you NEVER trust a snake, no matter what. He says everyone wants to know where he's headed, but nobody can ever know that, and says Savage might have fought some guys, but he's never fought someone like him.

In the back, Gene interviews Savage. He says it is impossible to intimidate the Macho Man, and he's gonna get him a Jakeskin belt, yeah. ELIZABETH, DOWN THAT AISLE!

Match #1: Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Jake Roberts [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
The two best heels of the year meet. Savage is having one of the greatest years of anyone ever in 1986, but there is nobody in the WWF, Savage included, who is better at truly being a heel, being a disgusting and deplorable and horrible person, than Jake Roberts. It is a huge shame that Jake spent the majority of his WWF run as a babyface. This is probably responsible for this. They work it heel/heel, and for whatever reason, the fans side with Jake. This is around the time where they shot an angle on The Snake Pit (which was the talk show during Wrestling Challenge, the b-show), where he DDT'd Hogan, but too many people cheered for the DDT and Jake, so the angle was canned and the feud was scrapped. That explains why Kamala got rushed to the main event picture after so little build up compared to other Hogan Monsters (where as Bundy got like a year of build before the Hogan feud). Anyways, the match. They work it smartly early on where it's even and both men cheat, and once the fans show who they favor, Savage controls so Jake can get the big comeback to keep the crowd in it. And yeah, his comeback was great and Savage bumps like the lunatic he was. Both men end up throwing the ref away during a slugfest, so it's a double DQ.
***

Jake gets Damien, and runs off Savage.

In the back, Gene is with Herc and Heenan. Heenan says this is his champion and your next WWF Champion, and he will finally get that title off of Hulk Hogan.

In the back, Gene interviews Hulk Hogan. He says he's got his pump back and the pythons are ready. He says he checked Hercules out, dude, and he's stronger than the real Hercules. He says he might be a Greek god, and he's trained to fight an Immortal. He's been hanging out in the Garden of Eden with his main squeeze Eve, he's been 20,000 leagues under the sea for 40 days and 40 nights, and hung and bung with the Titanic, brother. THIS IS WHERE THE POWER LIES~! Perhaps the quintessential Hulk Hogan promo, at least the most quintessential one yet. If he yells "THIS IS WHERE THE POWER LIES" during the one where Trump Towers is hit by a flood and he saves everyone and Donald Trump with his pythons, then that's probably it.

Match #2: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Hercules Hernandez w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship]
This ends the streak of good to great Hogan defenses, since Herc is a turd, and Hogan often works to the level of who he's facing. If not for Randy Savage having one of the all time greatest years for any wrestler ever in the WWF, Hulk Hogan might be winning WOTY. I mean, if Savage takes December off and the Kamala matches are great, there's still a shot, but it is not likely. This is formula Hogan, and he wins with the Big Boot and Legdrop.
**

A video airs of the Piper/Orton team set to "You're a Friend of Mine". I miss them. :(

Match #3: Roddy Piper vs. Bob Orton w/ Jimmy Hart
This is only 3 minutes, so it is not on the level of their house show match. Fun, but again, it's only 3 minutes, so they're limited a lot by that. Same finish as Philadelphia, where Orton accidentally runs into Hart on the apron, and Piper schoolboys him for the win.
**

In the back, Gene interviews Piper. He is not terribly enthused and says he still has a lot of work to do. Gene asks about Orton and Muraco wearing kilts, and Piper shakes his head. He says he wears a kilt, but those two are wearing skirts. He says when he's good, he's good, but when he's bad, he's much better.

Match #4: The Killer Bees vs. The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart
The Harts do what they do, and get something good out of them for some 8 minutes. The Bees are outmatched, so they cheat and put on their stupid fucking masks. They do the switch, and one of them rolls up Bret with an inside cradle to steal the match. BOOOOOOOOOOO.
**1/4

Match #5: Koko B. Ware vs. Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick

Luckily, this is only like 2 minutes. Koko B. Ware is awesome, but Nikolai is Nikolai. He confers with Slick near the ropes, but it allows Koko to roll him up for the win.
*3/4

In the back, Gene is with Hulk Hogan. He says there's never a doubt in his mind that he'll keep the title every time he defends it, because he's gonna hold this title forever, and he knows the Hulkamania will live forever.

Match #6: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Dick Slater
This was unfortunately also only 2 minutes. They work well together. Fuji trips up Slater, and Muraco beats him with a plain clothesline. The misuse of Slater is a crime, but it says a lot that it's my only real problem with WWF at this point.

Match #1: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. SD Jones

They get 2 minutes, so it is another awesome Randy Savage squash. He wins with the Flying Elbow.
**

In a pretape, Honky Tonk Man introduces his new manager, Jimmy Hart! Jimmy says people are jealous of his style and music.

WWF UPDATE:
-Clips air of King Harley Race

Match #2: Koko B. Ware vs. Bobby Colt
Real good stuff, but again only 90 minutes. Koko wins with the Ghostbuster.
*1/2

INTERVIEWS:
-Ken just runs down the card for tonight

Match #3: Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Paul Roma
Solid squash. Sleeper ends it.
*1/4

INTERVIEWS:
-Dino Bravo says words

Match #4: Hercules Hernandez w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jose Luis Rivera
At least this was short. Torture Rack ends it.
1/4*

It is time for Piper's Pit. He says he keeps getting hit from behind so many times, so he brought some people like him, and he brings on George Steele and JYD. He says he got the Animal six pounds of beef and a woman, and they've been great friends ever since.

In a pretape, Gene interviews Ricky Steamboat's wife Bonnie about the injury. She is angry that Savage has suffered no consequences and says he had no reason to do that, and says she hates Randy Savage.

Match #5: Kamala w/ Kimchee & The Wizard vs. Salvatore Bellomo
SAL BELLOMO RETURNS! Kamala pretty much destroys him in quick fashion, and hits a Flying Splash to end it.
*1/4

Bellomo is stretchered out.

In a pretape, Jesse asks Jack Tunney why he's reinstated Andre The Giant. He says there was a hearing, and it was very unusual. Tunney says he won't say too much at the moment. Jesse asks if Andre was there, and Tunney says no. He says Bobby Heenan was there, but the rest is privileged information.

Match #6: The Rougeau Brothers/Billy Jack Haynes vs. The Dream Team/Dino Bravo w/ Johnny V
This is all of 2 minutes before it breaks down and the ref throws it out. WAY too much was Haynes vs. Bravo, and it ruined the match.
3/4*

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Kamala w/ Team Kamala [WWF Championship], Boston (December 6th)
Really good match, but you sense they have a better match in them. And it's the first match of what is probably a series, judging by Hogan's reign has gone so far, so that seems like it should be expected. They build well to Kamala finally going down, and his wobbly selling is good. Hogan bleeds, and Kamala works the cut. Hogan has another inoffensively done Hulk Up and hits the slam and Legdrop for the win.

This has no sound, which sucks because Jake/Slater probably ruled.

12/13/86 - included Slick, Butch Reed, & a Federette as guests of the Piper's Pit:

Pedro Morales, Tito Santana, & Hillbilly Jim defeated Moondog Spot, Barry O, & the Raider at 1:57 when Morales pinned the Raider with a roll up

Adrian Adonis (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Mario Mancini via submission with teh sleeper at 1:16; after the match, Adonis stuck two flowers in Mancini's mouth

Rick Martel & Tom Zenk defeated Jimmy Jack Funk & Iron Mike Sharpe at 3:54 when Martel pinned Sharpe with a slingshot splash into the ring

Kamala (w/ the Wizard & Kimchee) pinned Jack Kruger at the 38 second mark with the splash off the top; after the bout, Kruger was taken backstage on a stretcher

Jake Roberts defeated Dick Slater via disqualification at 4:32 when Slater threw referee Danny Davis out of his way while attempting to get at Roberts, who had Damien in his hands; earlier in the bout, Slater won the match but Davis changed his mind and let it continue since Roberts' foot was on the bottom rope during the cover

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship - Steel Cage Match], Philadelphia (December 13th)
This is great, once again, but not as great as the October match. They have the house show fence cage, so that's great. They stick with what they're best at, as Hogan does the punching and Paul throws elbows and knees. They have some great close escapes too. Hogan bleeds a ton again, and they have several great desperate and rough slugfests at different points. The camera shot is mostly from the hardcam though, so you don't get the great shots of the blood like in their last match, for whatever reason. They have a race up, and Heenan gets in to pull Hogan down. He throws Heenan into the cage, which crotches Paul on the top! Hogan climbs over to win.

Match #1: The Islanders vs. Don Muraco/Bob Orton w/ Mr. Fuji

This was pretty great for the 3 minutes it went. Haku was the best, yet again. Cannot wait until he turns heel. Danny Davis is still a horrible ref, and DQ's Muraco for coming off the top to break a pin attempt by Haku. So either breaking up a pin is illegal, which has happened in tons of matches so far, or coming off the top is illegal, which the Islanders do every time they win. Terrible.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene shows the Steamboat/Savage angle again. Gene says Steamboat is physically recovering, but has not regained speech yet.

Match #2: Kamala w/ Team Kamala vs. Pedro Gonzalez
Another awesome Kamala squash that was painfully short. Flying Splash off the top gets him the win.
*1/4

The jobber is stretchered out.

INTERVIEWS:
-The next Boston show is on 1/3/87
-It will have a Bunkhouse battle royal, and Savage vs. Bruno for the IC Title
-Ken tries to claim that if any building belongs to Bruno, it's the Boston Garden. Yeah? Not MSG, the building he sold out every month for like 15 years? You fucking hack.
-Savage says Bruno is a fool, and Bruno is out of his mind to try and challenge the Macho Man. He says it might have been his building, but he's doing the thing now, yeah. He says if he was around two decades ago, Bruno would have been #2 to the Macho Man. MACHO MADNESS, YEAH!

Match #3: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jose Luis Rivera
I am not a fan of HTM squashes. He's not bad. He's a great character, but he's just very very average. That tends to not produce great squashes. He wins with a Swinging Neckbreaker, which is named the Shake, Rattle, & Roll.
*

INTERVIEWS:
-Bruno says words

Match #4: King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Steve Gatorwolf
Only 90 seconds, but Bundy is a very good squasher, so it works. Avalanche and an elbow drop does the deal.
*1/4

It is time for Piper's Pit, and he brings on the #1 Contenders to the Tag Titles, The Hart Foundation! Jimmy Hart is hiding in the background and Piper asks how much they pay Danny Davis. Bret says he's the best referee in the WWF, just like they're the best tag team. Piper says Matilda is a better manager than Jimmy Hart is.

Match #5: Butch Reed w/ Slick vs. Jerry Monti
ANOTHER squash that is way too short. He wins with a Flying Clothesline in about a minute. :(
*1/4

Match #6: The Killer Bees/Koko B. Ware vs. Dennis Stamp/Mike Ryder/Mike Lucca

HE'S BOOKED! This is good, due to Blair and Koko. Brunzell never got in, which is good. Blair beats Lucca with a running knee lift, which is the shittiest finish that ever shat.

Match #1: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Nick Kiniski

Randy gets 3 minutes to beat up a jobber, so it's awesome stuff. Flying Elbow gets the win.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-There is footage with Ricky Steamboat. He has a hard time speaking, but he says Randy Savage will pay for this.

Match #2: Tito Santana/Pedro Morales/Hillbilly Jim vs. The Dream Team/Dino Bravo w/ Johnny V
This gets 4 minutes, and Tito vs. Valentine is the only good part of it, unfortunately. They get about a minute, and the rest is terrible. Morales tries to Suplex Bravo from the apron into the ring, but Valiant trips him up and Bravo covers to win.
*

INTERVIEWS:
-The Bulldogs say they will hold these belts all through 1987. Ken asks if their schedule will take a toll on them, and Dynamite says they've beaten everybody, and there's still more challengers, so they won't slow down yet

Match #3: Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. David Gold
This is all of 30 seconds before Adonis wins with the Sleeper.
1/45*

A special report airs with Lord Alfred Hayes, going over Andre the Giant's return soon, and shows clips of Andre vs. Studd at WrestleMania I. An interview with Andre airs, and he says he is very happy to be back in the ring, and says he doesn't know what happened at the hearing, but he is thankful to whoever made the decision to allow him back to the WWF.

Match #4: The American Ex --
NOPE!

Match #5: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Sivi Afi
This is good as usual. ALSO ONLY 90 SECONDS WHAT THE FUCK? Fisherman's Buster gives the King the win.
