WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
MARCH 14TH, 1987
DETROIT, MI

TONIGHT: A BATTLE ROYAL! SAVAGE/STEELE FOR THE IC TITLE AND LIZ! JAKE VS. STEELE!

PROMOS:
-Hogan says he's gonna throw Andre out because Andre broke the rules, so now there are no rules
-Heenan says no man can lift up Andre to throw him out
-Liz says she does not like being the prize in a match
-Jake says Damien hasn't eaten in over a month

Match #1: Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. George Steele [WWF Intercontinental Championship - Winner Gets Miss Elizabeth]
Liz is sitting in a lifeguard chair at ringside. They're back to only 4 minutes now, and Savage puts on another great one man show. Huge bumping as always. They go to the floor, and Liz gets down from the lifeguard chair. Savage throws Steele into it and knocks it over, and he gets back in to win by count out.
**1/4

Savage leaves with Liz, so Steele hugs a poster of Liz in the ring.

In the back, Hogan is pacing around and he keeps saying "Andre".

In the back, Gene interviews Andre and Heenan. Heenan says Gene doesn't get to ask Andre questions, and he handles all these matters for his client now. He says not only will Andre win the match, but more important than that, Andre will personally eliminate Hulk Hogan.

Match #2: 20 Man Battle Royal
This wasn't great, but accomplished the job well, and the job was building up Andre. They've booked him super strong always, because he's Andre, but he hasn't really been around regularly for a year now, and despite the amazing Pit segments, you also need to show that Andre is this unstoppable force of nature. And this was all about that. Andre tosses both Islanders, Sika, and Poffo within a minute. He headbutts Poffo out, and Poffo bleeds a ton. Hogan tosses Honky and Volkoff, and Andre tosses the Bees, AND ANDRE AND HOGAN MEET! YEAH! Andre quickly gets rid of Hogan with a headbutt to the back of the head near the ropes. Demolition, Butch Reed, Koko, Neidhart, Bret, Haynes, and Hercules all gang up on Andre to get rid of him. It stops being interesting now, and Herc tosses Haynes to win.
**

In the back, Heenan and Andre get interviewed by Gene again. Heenan says Andre dismantled half of that match and eliminate Hulk Hogan by himself and manhandled the supposed champion. He says to contrast that to Andre the Giant, and it took 8 men to eliminate Andre, and says you are looking at the next WWF Champion in two weeks time.

WRESTLEMANIA III: MARCH 29TH! BIGGER! BETTER! BADDER!

Match #3: Jake Roberts vs. King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan
This is very enjoyable once again. Shorter than Philly as it's only 4 minutes or so, but essentially the same match. Jake tries to get the bag, but the ref stops him, so Jake shoves the ref down for a DQ.
**

Jake DDTs Bundy and brings Damien out of the bag, but Heenan manages to help Bundy out of the ring to avoid the snake.

Footage airs of the Hart Foundation winning the titles.

Match #4: The Hart Foundation [c] w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. Tito Santana/Danny Spivey [WWF Tag Team Championship]
This got 5 minutes, so it was fun. Tito vs. the Foundation was especially great, and bodes well for the six man at WrestleMania III. Smart layout, as they isolate Spivey so he can't do any offense, and it gives us the Tito hot tag, which is always great. Santana puts Bret in the Figure Four, but Davis hits Tito with the megaphone, and Bret covers to win.
**1/2

Steamboat vs. Sheik is set to end the show, but Randy Savage comes out before the bell. He tries to fight Steamboat, but referees hold him back, so Savage goes up and joins the commentary table.

Match #5: Ricky Steamboat vs. The Iron Sheik w/ Slick
Really good for the 2-3 minutes it goes. Sheik is still pretty good now that he gets to fight an actual great wrestler in a singles match. For once, Steamboat wins with the Flying Baba Chop off the top, which probably means Sheik is just about done here. And he will be gone in a few months anyways.
**

Steamboat tries to go to commentary to get at Savage too, but referees hold him back.

Sheik and Volkoff come out for a match and sing the national anthem, BUT IT'S FUCKING HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN RUNNING OUT WITH A 2X4 AND THE FLAG! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! He says they'll never sing that anthem again now that Hacksaw is here, and dares them to try him. TOUGH GUYS!

WWF UPDATE:
-Coverage of Herc vs. BJH

Match #1: Don Muraco/Bob Orton w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Cpl. Kirchner/Mario Mancini
Good 90 seconds here. Muraco beats Mario with the Tombstone. The Can-Ams do an inset promo saying words.
*3/4

INTERVIEWS:
-The Foundation and Danny Davis say WrestleMania will be a slaughter

A music video airs of the Rougeaus in action and doing other stuff in Canada.

Match #2: Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jim Young
This is also very short, but whatever. Adonis wins with the Sleeper.
*1/4

In a pretape, Gene interviews other random celebrities.

INTERVIEWS:
-JYD repeats that he bows to no man, King or not, and Harley Race ain't even no real king

Match #3: Tito Santana/The British Bulldogs vs. Steve Lombardi/Al Navarro/Rick Renslow
This is lots of fun, since Davey and Tito get to show off for 3 minutes. Dynamite never gets in, because he's still injured. Tito beats Navarro with the Flying Forearm.
**

It is time for Piper's Pit, and this is where Tunney introduces the potential new WWF Title, should Andre win: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ilw09iNNpm0

WRESTLEMANIA III REPORT:
-Gene reports that all tickets are sold out
-He recaps all the matches

The SNME battle royal is replayed, up to when the Andre/Hogan elimination happens.

Match #5: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Lanny Poffo
This is 30 seconds before HTM wins with the Shake, Rattle, and Roll, so there's nothing to speak of here.

In a pretape, Bobby Heenan and Andre the Giant hold Bob Uecker hostage until he starts yelling that Andre the Giant is the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Match #1: The Can-Am Connection vs. Steve Lombardi/Johnny K-9
Another great squash from the Can-Ams. Slingshot Splash gets them the win.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene does a full rundown of the Savage/Steamboat feud

Match #2: Butch Reed w/ Slick vs. Jim Powers
Butch also gets 2-3 minutes to show off and be awesome, so that's great. Lots of nasty looking power offense, and the Flying Clothesline wins for him.
**

INTERVIEWS:
-The Rougeaus say the Dream Team is going down, and not a lot else

Match #3: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. Joe Mirto/Rick Hunter
They get time too, and this is shaping up to be a great episode. They beat Mirto with the Hart Attack.
**

INTERVIEWS:
-Gene tries to interview Andre by himself and asks if he regrets this at all. Bobby Heenan rushes on and says he'll answer all these questions and says he'll be there to strap the new WWF Championship on the new WWF Champion tomorrow night. He says Hogan can't outsmart him and can't outwrestle him, so his third loss is under a day away. He says the giant knows Hulkamania is dead, and so does he, and if Gene isn't lying to himself, he knows it too.

Match #4: Jake Roberts vs. Moondog Spot
This is very good, but it's only 90 seconds unfortunately, and Jake wins with the DDT.
*1/2

It is now time for the FINAL Piper's Pit. He climbs up on the table in the middle and says hi to the people. He says he was just a street kid, and if it wasn't for WWF and pro wrestling, he'd probably be in jail somewhere. He says he's married a beautiful American woman and has two girls. He says he's been stabbed three times and been shot at, and it didn't make him want to retire, but going on the road 50 days at a time and being away from his family any more, that did the trick. He says he'll raise those kids like he wasn't raised, and when you came to see Roddy Piper fight, you got your money's worth. He thanks the WWF and the fans, and says daddy's coming home. He then takes the portraits off the wall of the Pit and leaves. :(

WRESTLEMANIA III REPORT:
-Gene goes over the card again

Match #5: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Terry Allen
This is only a minute, and Race wins with the Fisherman's Buster deal.

WWF WRESTLEMANIA III
MARCH 29TH, 1987
PONTIAC, MI

Posted Image

Vince does a legendary "WELCOME TO WRESTLEMANIA THREE!" to open the show, and introduces Aretha Franklin, who sings "America the Beautiful".

Jesse and Gorilla have Mary Hart and Bob Uecker with them to do guest commentary at points.

Match #1: The Can-Am Connection vs. Don Muraco/Bob Orton w/ Mr. Fuji
They got five and a half minutes, so it was a lot of fun. Good speed vs. power story going on throughout. Martel's stuff is SO fucking smooth, and the Can-Ams have great babyface double teams. Double Monkey Flips, dropkicks, headscissors takedowns, etc. Martel has a great hot tag, and Martel beats Muraco with a Crossbody off the ropes.
**1/2

Video airs of the Herc/BJH feud.

Match #2: Billy Jack Haynes vs. Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan
This got almost 8 minutes, so that was really unfair compared to the rest of the card. Out of 12 matches, this is the 4th longest. It's not BAD or anything, it's just really mediocre and neither man has much of a hook to him, so it's just two guys. The match is certainly smart if somewhat dry. Herc works the back, which both takes out the Full Nelson from BJH, and prevents BJH from fighting it off as well as possible should Herc put it on. The back selling was good too, and they go to a double count out.
**1/4

They fight back into the ring, and Hercules beats down Billy Jack with his chain, and bloodies his face up.

In the back, Gene interviews Bundy and his midgets. He says big trouble comes in big packages, and he'll beat up Jim's midgets if they get between him.

Match #3: Hillbilly Jim/The Haiti Kid/Little Beaver vs. King Kong Bundy/Lord Littlebrook/Little Tokyo
SO MUCH FUN. They keep it short at 4 minutes, and it is an awesome comedy match as a result. This is under mixed tag rules to prevent a murder. Bundy gets embarrassed by the midgets, so he refuses to tag out AND SLAMS LITTLE BEAVER FOR THE DQ! AWESOME!
**

The other three midgets attack Bundy, with Jim's help, and Bundy leaves.

In the back, Mary Hart is with Savage and Liz. Mary says she wants to interview Elizabeth, but Savage says interviews the champ or she gets lost, and he marches Elizabeth off screen, and follows her out.

Clips air of the Race/JYD feud.

In the back, Gene is with Harley Race, Bobby Heenan, and Moolah. She is holding a pillow for the crown, and Race says she is the rightful queen of wrestling, and will place the crown upon his head after the match, when that despicable Dog is forced to bow and worship at the feet of the one true King.

Uecker leaves to go try and get with Moolah.

Match #4: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. The Junkyard Dog [Loser Must Bow]
They are done well by keeping this short, but they could have done a little bit more than 4 minutes. Great Harley bumping, and JYD hits the THUMP SLAM. He goes to cover, but Heenan gets on the apron to distract the ref. JYD goes after him, but it allows Harley to hit a Side Belly to Belly to win.
**

JYD gets up and has to do a bow. Harley grabs a chair so sit on and orders JYD to bow. He gives a small bow, and then he hits Harley! He grabs the chair and hits him on the head with it. Race rolls out, and JYD steals the crown and cape and wears them in the ring.

In the back, Vince is in Hogan's locker room for an interview. Hogan says people say it's his last ride, man. He says some of the non believes in the gym said goodbye to him like he was never coming back, and he felt the fury as he ripped his shirt off and rode into the sunset. He says the sun beamed off the gold, and sooner or later, every man has to live and die and face the truth, and Andre has to face the truth. He says all he has to do is beat a 7'4'', 550 pound giant, but Andre has to face the pure truth that is Hulkamaniac, and to beat him, Andre has to beat every single man, woman, and child that wears red and yellow like the Hulkster, dude, and Hulkamania is the purest form of truth there is. WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE TRUTH, THE 24 INCH PYTHONS, AND HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU?!

Match #5: The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Dream Team w/ Jimmy Hart & Dino Bravo
This is also robbed by only getting 4 minutes. enjoyable match though. Brutus turns face later, so he's got an early start with tights with see through patches and the general terrible bumping associated with him from here on. Bobby Heenan joins commentary in the middle of the match and says he's 2 for 2, since Herc left Haynes lying and the King won. This has a lot of fun Rougeaus vs. Valentine matwork. Valentine is hit with the Flying Dick Attack and is covered. Johnny V distracts the ref and Dino comes off the top with a really shitty double axe handle, and he puts Greg on top to win.
**

Valentine and Bravo leave without Beefcake.

A recap airs of the Piper/Adonis feud.

Match #6: Roddy Piper vs. Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart [Hair vs. Hair]
They get 7 minutes, so they get to have a good match. Lots of fun Piper brawling and Adonis bumping and incredible stooging. They used the blinding trick, but Brutus Beefcake came out to stop Jimmy's continued interference, and Piper puts on the Sleeper Hold for the win.
**1/2

Brutus and Piper then cut Adrian's hair before Piper leaves. Piper leaving and Brutus Beefcake turning face and becoming the Barber is a huge huge blow to the WWF on two fronts. Piper celebrates in the ring, and a fan hops the railing to high five him. Piper shakes his hand and hugs him before security takes him away and probably beats the shit out of him.

Match #7: The British Bulldogs/Tito Santana vs. The Hart Foundation/Danny Davis w/ Jimmy Hart
9 MINUTES! YEAH! Gorilla finally explains that Danny Davis was the ref for most of the Savage/Tito matches that Savage stole, including the title switch, so that ties up that loose end. Anyways, this is really good. They keep Davis out, and focus on a great formula tag with the workhorses of the company. Davey and Tito both have good hot tags, and they finally get Davis. Things break down and Bret hits Davey with the megaphone and puts Davis on top to steal the win.
**3/4

In the back, Gene interviews Andre the Giant and Bobby Heenan. Heenan says this is the next WWF Champion, and not only has Andre been undefeated for 15 years, but has never met a man like Andre the Giant who is bigger, stronger, and taller than him. He says Hulkamania is on the clock, and the clock is ticking down for Hulk Hogan, not for them. He says nobody can defeat this man, and the butterflies are in his stomach, because he's going to manage the Heavyweight Champion.

Match #8: Koko B. Ware vs. Butch Reed w/ Slick
Really awesome 3 minutes. Koko has a super high degree of energy, taking huge bumps, bouncing around the ring, and with lots of super crisp offense. But he loses, tragically, as Butch rolls through a Crossbody and grabs the tights to steal the win.
**1/4

Butch keeps attacking, but Tito Santana runs out to make the save. They tear off Slick's jacket and shirt, and they drive Butch Reed out with a Double Dropkick.

Footage airs of the Savage/Steamboat feud.

In the back, Savage is alone on the interview set. He says it was a shock when Ricky Steamboat came back, but he won't only embarrass and pin him tonight, but he will put him out of the ring. He is the lord and master of the ring, and Ricky will find that out right now, because he can't be with him. "HISTORY BECKONS THE MACHO MAN!"

Posted Image

Match #9: Randy Savage [c] w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Ricky Steamboat w/ George Steele [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
This match works so much better in the context of the feud than as a standalone match. I always thought it was sort of overrated before I saw their other matches, and thought it was lame as hell that they had a mat wrestling and pure technical match when Savage tried to end his career. I still do think it's kind of overrated, in that it's not an all time great match anymore. When you put it as the final part of a series, it's great. But it could be greater. The last few matches were about Steamboat getting too caught up in revenge and getting caught, and thus Savage wins because as long as he keeps the belt, he doesn't care what happens to him. So Steamboat has to be super super calm and not play Randy's game, since taking the belt will hurt Randy more than attacking the throat in revenge or bloodying him up. Of course, they don't do that much to get this across besides a few great little things. Such as Steamboat following Savage's attempts to take it to the floor for his usual countout by getting back in before Savage can follow him out. They have a lot of cool counters and spots, but unfortunately, that seems like what the match is more about than psychology or hate. You can easily see why this got the rep it did, and still does (although not as heavily as it did, even 10 years ago). It's easily the best match WWF has put on PPV since they began running PPV and smokes most of the stuff put on SNME too. And in a time where not everyone had access to all the taped stuff from MSG, Boston, Philly, Toronto, etc. (and when the really insanely great house show matches usually didn't air on Prime Time like others), this does come off as the greatest match of all time, especially if you only watch WWF at this point. There's a brief ref bump, and Savage gets a visual pin on the Flying Elbow. He gets the ring bell and goes up top with it, but Steele shoves him off the top and the ring bell hits his back. He goes to slam Steamboat, but his back gives, and Steamboat gets a cradle to win the belt. Steamboat doesn't come out of this looking like a very strong champion at all.
***

In the back, Gene is with Jake Roberts and Alice Cooper. He says Alice is here to take care of Jimmy Hart, because he knows Jimmy's the one who came up with the idea to hit him with that guitar. He says the thing is, when you take a shot at a man like him, you gotta make it count, and they didn't do that, because he's still walking. And that's all he needs to get down to the ring and have his way with him.

Match #10: Jake Roberts w/ Alice Cooper vs. The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart
This was enjoyable. HTM's stooging was enjoyable and I did not mind him as a generic cheap heel for once here, so that's a compliment. Jake took some really amazing bumps and was pretty fucking awesome. Hart grabs Jake's leg to block the DDT and Honky gets a shoddy looking schoolboy with the ropes to steal the win.
**1/2

Jake and Alice run off Hart and HTM with Damien, and they throw Damien on top of Jimmy before he rolls out.

Mean Gene comes out and announces a new indoor attendance record of 93,173.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes out to stop the Russian national anthem from being sung, and sits ringside.

Match #11: The Killer Bees vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff
This is not the logical choice to put before Hogan/Andre, but it shows how great this crowd is, as they manage to even stay hot through a fucking Killer Bees match, which I can't even do. Sheik has Blair in the Camel Clutch, and as everyone knows, he could have then fucked his ass and made him humble, old country way, but he didn't do it because he has respect for God, Jesus, and Vince McMahon. Anyways, Hacksaw chases Nikolai in the ring, and hits Sheik with the 2x4 to run them off for a DQ. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
**

In the back, Gene interviews Andre the Giant and Bobby Heenan again. Andre says you can see him now, and he's about to go to the ring, and he will come back with the WWF Championship belt, the new one. He says it should not take him too long. Heenan says he can feel it, and says this is the next WWF Champion, and he will go down in history, and Hogan better be ready.

Clips air of the Hogan/Andre segments.

In the back, Gene interviews Hulk Hogan. He says he hopes Pontiac, MI recovers, brother. He says the 90,000 plus on the inside are safe, but he's worried about whoever is on the outside. He says the giant will feel the truth and wrath of Hulkamaniam but today is the day the Earth's foundation will be permanently cracked, and he says he can make sure all his Maniacs in the Silverdome and watching on Closed Circuit will be safe, but everyone else might not be. So, he's effectively saying if you root for Andre the Giant or didn't buy WrestleMania, you will die tonight.

Match #12: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Andre the Giant w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Championship]
This isn't bad. It's great for 1987 Andre the Giant, and from what I recall of their Mania 4 match, this is like 100x the match that is. Don't get me wrong, this isn't great. It's maybe the most important match ever, and all that too, but it's not truly awful. It that sense, it's kind of underrated, in a strange way. They're physically limited, but they have a good and simple story. Andre gets a close call early on after Hogan collapses when trying to slam him. Andre focuses on the back to take the slam out of the equation, and they sell that if Hogan can get Andre off his feet, that's his only chance. Andre has some great taunts and facials, gradually going from SUPER confident to a little thrown off to desperate at the end, looking like he underestimated Hogan. Hogan finally knocks Andre down with a clothesline, and Andre gets up stunned, allowing for the body slam and then the Legdrop for the win. This is 12 minutes that flies by and is laid out really well as a great pure spectacle match. In no way does this suck.
**1/2

Posted Image

Andre just shakes his head as he leaves, and he points at Hogan and the camera catches him saying they're not done here. He leaves on the ring cart, and Heenan looks completely despondent. Hogan poses in the ring and what not, and then finally leaves.

WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987

WWF Superstars
April 4th, 1987
Dayton, OH

Match #1: Jim Duggan vs. The Iron Sheik w/ Slick

This gets 3 minutes, which isn't enough time for it to be either good or bad. Nikolai comes out and grabs the cane and hits Duggan with it for the DQ.
*1/4

They beat up Duggan until The Killer Bees and Sivi Afi save. That's probably not true, they probably just got bored. It's not like The Killer Bees would stand a chance against a real tag team when they can't even beat jobbers in under 5 minutes.

WWF UPDATE:
-The Wizard had sold Kamala and Sika to Mr. Fuji

Match #2: The Killer Bees vs. Jimmy Jack Funk/Iron Mike Sharpe
This is finally an appropriately timed squash from the Bees at 3 minutes. Doesn't make it good, but it makes it less infuriating and more of just a decent squash. Brunzell wins with a fucking dropkick.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Boston return is May 2nd with Harts vs. Bulldogs with Danny Davis barred from Boston, and Hogan vs. Race for the belt
-Hogan comes in and says he just came off WrestleMania, dude, and nothing can stop him. He says Bobby keeps sending one man after another at him. He says all the king's horses and all the king's men won't be able to put Harley Race back together again.

Before Volkoff's squash of Rick Hunter, the kid attacks him during the Russian anthem. He gets beaten up by both Nikolai and Sheik, until Hacksaw Jim Duggan runs back out with his 2x4 to make the save. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

INTERVIEW:
-The Islanders come on and Haku says they are proud to represent Tonga, and they're looking for the titles.

Match #3: Jake Roberts vs. The Raider
Another great Jake squash. DDT gets the win.
**

Match #4: Demolition w/ Johnny V vs. Sivi Afi/Brad Rheingans

Demolition finally has the music, although it is only an instrumental at this point. Demolition only has 90 seconds and they're not here yet, but it's still good. Decapitation beats Brad.
*1/4

WRESTLEMANIA III REPORT:
-Gene goes over the results

A video airs of Ken Patera's life story to hype his return, as well as clips of him in 1984, and Gene's voiceover blames Bobby Heenan's influence for Patera's jail stint.

Match #5: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Don Driggers
Good 75 second squash. Fisherman's Buster gets the win for Harley.

Another fun Koko squash with lots of energy. He wins with the Ghost Buster.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Mr. Fuji has bought the services of Demolition

Match #2: The New Dream Team w/ Johnny V vs. Tom Sharpe/Nick Kiniski
NDT is Valentine and Dino Bravo. Valentine now has to carry fucking Dino Bravo. Horrible, this is all about getting Bravo over, so it blows as Greg is hardly in. He beats Nick with a shitty Sidewalk Slam.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Gene is in sunglasses now

Posted Image

-Danny Davis is barred from Boston for this Harts/Bulldogs match.
-Hogan does a pretape and says Heenan grooms guys from start to finish, and he is that finish. He finished Bundy and Orndorff and Hercules and he even got through the giant, brother, but the King is different, because he's smarter than the rest. He says the King was his contingency plan, but this one will fail too, dude, because he doesn't have the power to hang with Hulkamania.

Match #3: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jim Young
Hart has a huge sign saying "BAN THE DDT", and that is fantastic. This was HTM's best heel squash in a while, but still not amazing. Just a matter of his stuff looking particularly good. Shake, Rattle, and Roll gets the win for Honky.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Adrian Adonis is bald, and he refuses to speak

Match #4: The Rougeau Brothers vs. Terry Gibbs/Bill Howard
This ruled. Another fantastic Rougeaus squash full of cool double teams. Flying Dick Attack gives the brothers the win.
**

A pretape airs with new generic announcer interviewing Miss Elizabeth. He asks about Savage without the IC Title. She says he's gotten to the point where he seems possessed with the idea of regaining the title, and she's never seen him before.

Another pretape airs with Ricky Steamboat and his wife. Ricky says this title is the greatest thing he's ever won, and they even have a little dragon on the way soon, and this will be the year of the Dragon. Horribly, this will result in Steamboat's reign getting cut short, as he wants time off to spend with his new baby, and Vince then cut off a planned long IC Title run for him. Resulting in this fantasy world where HTM is called the greatest IC Champion and not Randy Savage.

Another Ken Patera video.

Match #5: Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Billy Anderson
Another awful Herc squash. Booooo.
1/2*

Match #6: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. SD Jones/Rick Hunter

Decent, but too short at under 2 minutes. Hunter gets beat with the Hart Attack.
*3/4

They keep on the attack, but The British Bulldogs run out with Matilda, and the Harts bail.

Match #1: The Can-Am Connection vs. Dusty Wolfe/Barry O

Almost a great squash. Martel is probably one of the 10 best guys in the company at this point. Just so insanely fluid and crisp and full of a ton of fire and energy. This went too long at like 4-5 minutes, which results in lame jobber offense. Martel gets the win with the Slingshot Splash.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Brutus Beefcake is doing stuff

Match #2: Ron Bass vs. Alex Knight
OUTLAW RON BASS IS HERE! Bass delivers a quality beating and does an inset promo calling out Blackjack Mulligan. He hits a Jumping Back Elbow to win.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The British Bulldogs say they were robbed, and with Danny Davis gone from the building, there's no way for the Harts to get another cheap shot and nobody can beat the Bulldogs in a fair fight.

Match #3: Jim Duggan vs. Tiger Chung Lee
Decent squash. Three-Point Stance clothesline ends it.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The Hogan promo from last week is aired

Match #4: Kamala/Sika w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jerry Allen/Jesse Cortez
Good squash. Kamala wins with a Big Splash.
*1/2

Kamala tries to climb up top, but Fuji and Sika talk him down.

Another part of the Ken Patera Story airs, now with current Patera saying he wants to get rid of Bobby Heenan.

Match #5: Jake Roberts vs. Joe Mirto
Jake is now working his boring face squashes. Armlocks and headlocks suck compared to methodical neck work and stalking leading to the DDT. OF course, it's Jake, so it all still leads to the DDT anyways.
*1/2

Match #6: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Billy Anderson

Only 90 seconds, but Harley delivers a wonderful squash once again. He wins with the Fisherman's Buster.

WWF Superstars
April 25th, 1987
Las Vegas, NV

Match #1: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jim Powers/Paul Roma

Powers looks good again. Demolition is starting to come together very nicely, as this was a really great 2 minute squash. Really vicious and intense beatdowns and the Decapitation ends it. The only thing missing now is the music.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-More Danny Davis coverage

Match #2: Tito Santana vs. Ed Dean
YES! FINALLY TITO IS BACK ON TV DOING SQUASHES! Good Tito stuff as usual, and he wins with the Flying Forearm. Butch Reed and Slick do an inset and Slick says Tito will get paid back for embarrassing him at WrestleMania.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Gene and Lord Al go over the card

Match #3: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tom Sharpe
Hart again has a "BAN THE DDT" sign. HTM does not have the offense for a 3 minute squash, so this went too long. Shake, Rattle, and Roll ends it.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Brutus Beefcake says words and Gene keeps calling him Beefer. No thanks.

Match #4: The Killer Bees vs. Iron Mike Sharpe/Steve Lombardi
For once, the jobbers carry a match. Brunzell wins with his stupid fucking dropkick. The best part is that Lombardi and Sharpe do an inset, challenging Roma and Powers. JOBBER FEUD. AWESOME.
*1/2

The last part of the Ken Patera story airs.

In a pretape, Gene is with Bobby Heenan. He refutes that he was a bad influence on Ken Patera, and says he'll agree to a debate with Patera next week. Which is a shame because I don't have the May 2nd or May 9th episodes of Superstars.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes out through the crowd with a ticket, and he sits in the front row for the next match.

Match #5: The Islanders/Sivi Afi vs. Butch Reed/The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick
Decent for 3 minutes. Butch Reed vs. Haku was completely amazing. Reed beats that faggot Sivi Afi with a Gorilla Press Slam.
*1/4

Duggan gets in with the 2x4 and runs off all of the heels. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. The Islanders, Boston (May 2nd)
Tama improves a lot as he keeps teaming with Haku. This is very good. Ax is especially great, and I am the most impressed with how good his Irish whips look. It's such a small thing, but the way he grabs the wrist with both hands and turns with them to throw is really awesome. Then, you know, Haku is Haku. He has a shockingly great hot tag, merely because I'm not used to Haku doing hot tags. Tama gets back in, but Smash hits him in the throat with Fuji's cane to win.
**3/4

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Harley Race [WWF Championship], Boston (May 2nd)

This wasn't great, but it was a lot of fun. Tons of amazing Race bumps, and Hogan did his stuff well. Race's control segment was fantastic. Tons of brutal knees and headbutts, and all the strikes by Race are deliberate and measured and Hogan gets credit for getting the shit beaten out of him here. Awesome finishing run as Race cuts off the Hulk Up with several headbutts to bust Hogan open. He misses a Diving Headbutt though and Hogan rolls him up to win.
**3/4

The Hart Foundation [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship], Boston (May 2nd)

This was good as usual for these two, but it was only 7 minutes, so they were somewhat limited. The Harts again refuse to do the Heel in Peril bullshit, which is why they're the best. Hart tries to use the megaphone, but Davey gets it and hits Bret with it for the DQ.

5/2/87 - included an in-ring debate between the returning Ken Patera and Bobby Heenan, hosted by Gene Okerlund; during the segment, Heenan attempted to attack Patera with his belt, with Patera easily fighting him off, wrapping the belt around Heenan's neck, and throwing him across the ring; Heenan was taken out on a stretcher following the incident, which resulted in Heenan wearing a neckbrace for several months; included an 'Update' segment focusing on Billy Jack Haynes; included footage of Kamala & Sika where they were shown eating a live lobster; featured Craig DeGeorge interviewing Blackjack Mulligan, discussing Ron Bass; featured closing comments from the Hart Foundation & Jimmy Hart, as well as the British Bulldogs discussing the Bret / Davey match the following week:

Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth) pinned SD Jones with the flying elbowsmash at 1:40; prior to the match, Savage took exception to the ring announcer referring to him as the former IC Champion; after the bout, Savage hit a double axe handle off the top, tossed Jones to the floor, and hit a second double axe handle from the top rope to the floor

Brutus Beefcake defeated Johnny V via submission with the sleeper at 1:42; after the bout, Beefcake shaved off part of Johnny V's head as he lay unconscious (Beefcake's debut as 'the Barber')

Killer Khan (w/ Mr. Fuji) pinned Nelson Veilluex at 1:27 with a knee drop off the middle turnbuckle to the head (Khan's return after a 5-year absence)

Rick Martel & Tom Zenk defeated Dusty Wolfe & Rocky Stone (Tom Stone) at 3:03 when Martel pinned Wolfe with a slingshot splash

Adrian Adonis (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Jake Milliman via submission at 1:10 with the sleeper (Adonis' first and only TV appearance after being shaved bald at WrestleMania III)

WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
MAY 2ND, 1987
SOUTH BEND, IN

TONIGHT: Harts vs. Bulldogs for the tag titles in Best of Three Falls! Jake vs. Kamala! Savage vs. George Steele in a Lumberjack Match!

PROMOS:
-Savage says tonight is the night for the last match between he and George Steele, and he will be the survivor
-Steamboat says he will melt Hercules' chains, as he breaths fire
-The Hart Foundation says the Bulldogs get their rematch after crying, and they'll still be crying tonight
-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-Bobby Heenan promises to show how Andre really beat Hogan at WrestleMania and Andre says he is the champion
-Hogan says the Maniacs know who won, and he met the giant enemy and beat him, and says he'll show how it happened tonight

In the back, Gene is with Jake Roberts and says HTM might have scrambled his brain with that guitar. Jake says Damien wants Kamala and says to ask him why. He holds the snake in his face, so Gene says they're out of time.

Match #1: Jake Roberts vs. Kamala w/ Mr. Fuji & Kimchee
Fun 4 minutes. Jake going to the bare feet of Kamala to offset his weight was particularly great. I've never seen that before, so it's even more awesome than working the hand. I mean, who the fuck works the feet? Only Jake Roberts. Kimchee hits JAke with the cane to the back and then Kamala hits a Big Splash to win.
**

KIMCHEE TAKES OFF THE MASK TO REVEAL THAT IT'S HONKY TONK MAN! AWESOME! He beats on Jake and hits the Shake, Rattle, and roll. He gets on the mic and thanks the people very much, and leaves.

The lumberjacks are at ringside, and the referees have to separate The Hart Foundation and the Bulldogs at ringside.

In the back, Gene interviews George Steele. He understands nothing and just says NICE.

In the back, Gene interviews Savage and Liz. Savage takes offense to being called a former champion and says he is the true Intercontinental Champion. He makes Liz call him Champ, and she does it. Savage says Steele cost him the title, and he knows Ricky Steamboat will be on the floor and tells him to watch because revenge will be his, yeah. ELIZABETH, DOWN THAT AISLE. DO THE THING.

Match #2: Randy Savage vs. George Steele [Lumberjack Match]
This is not good, because it's a lumberjack match with George Steele. All the lumberjacks fight and Danny Davis hits Steele with the timekeeper's bell. Savage hits the Flying Elbow to win.
**

All the lumberjacks keep fighting and Jake Roberts comes out with his ribs taped, and he DDTs the real Kimchee.

In the back, Gene interviews the Hart Foundation. They repeat that the Bulldogs are crybabies, and Davis tries to fight Gene, but he shoves him, so they hold Davis back so he doesn't get killed.

Match #3: The Hart Foundation [c] w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship - Best of Three Falls]
This starts with great Davey/Bret matwork. Bulldogs dominate for a bit and then Neidhart gets in. The champions get DQ'd for excessive double teaming. They do some more stuff that isn't much of anything, and Davey has an awesome hot tag. He throws Dynamite to Neidhart in a Crossbody AND THEY WIN THE BELTS BACK!
**3/4

BUT BECAUSE THE FIRST FALL WAS A DQ, THE HARTS KEEP THE BELTS! YEAH!

In the back, Gene interviews Hulk Hogan. Gene says Andre says he is still undefeated and the new Champion. Hogan says Hulkamania is the strongest power in the universe, and Andre was the biggest challenge of his career, but he persevered. Gene then shows footage of the match. Hogan says it's all in the footage, and he fears no man or best, and he'll sign for a rematch, but Andre still has to beat him 1-2-3, and it can't be done.

In the back, Gene is with Savage as he watches and he says he hopes Steamboat wins, so he can take it back himself.

Match #4: Ricky Steamboat [c] vs. Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
This is a strange match. Steamboat gets like 2% of the offense, so it blows. Herc even has him beat, before Randy Savage comes out and pulls Herc's leg to break up the Full Nelson. Herc brings in the chain and chokes Ricky with it for the DQ.
*3/4

Savage runs off Herc with a chair, but he then throws it down, and hits Steamboat with the Flying Elbow.

Jim Duggan again comes out with a front row ticket. He was already a lumberjack, why does he have to do this? He then runs off Sheik and Volkoff when they try to sing, and leads a USA chant.

Match #5: The Can-Am Connection vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick
Good 5 minutes. Sheik broke out some of his awesome throws, and Martel had a great hot tag. Volkoff is beat after the Slingshot Splash.

5/9/87 - included an 'Update' segment where Bobby Heenan issued a challenge to Ken Patera to face Hercules the following week, with Patera accepting as the show ended; featured Craig DeGeorge interviewing Ron Bass, discussing Blackjack Mulligan; included footage of Brutus Beefcake in a barber shop:

WWF IC Champion Ricky Steamboat pinned Tiger Chung Lee at 3:25 with a karate chop off the top

The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, & Butch Reed (w/ Slick) defeated Jim Powers, Paul Roma, & Joe Mirto at 2:38 when Reed pinned Mirto with a gorilla press slam; after the bout, Slick sang the Russian National Anthem

Jake Roberts pinned Rick Gantner at 1:23 with the DDT

Killer Khan (w/ Mr. Fuji) pinned Mike Richards at 2:52 with a kneedrop off the top to the head, after hitting the same move from the middle turnbuckle

B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell & Koko B. Ware defeated Steve Lombardi, Pete Doherty, & Terry Gibbs at 2:53 when Koko pinned Doherty with the Ghostbuster (Blair, Brunzell, and Koko all wore a 'Killer Bee' mask for the duration of the bout)

Davey Boy Smith (w/ the Dynamite Kid) pinned WWF Tag Team Champion Bret Hart (w/ WWF Tag Team Champion Jim Neidhart & Jimmy Hart) at 3:44 with the running powerslam after Dynamite and Neidhart began fighting on the floor; after the bout, Danny Davis and Bret double teamed Smith in the ring as Neidhart held Dynamite on the floor

WWF Superstars
May 16th, 1987

Match #1: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. The Islanders

This was really enjoyable again, but it was still only 3 minutes. Fuji knocks Tama off the top with his cane, and Smash covers to win.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene hypes up the Race/Hogan feud

Match #2: Jim Duggan vs. Dave Barbie
Hacksaw squashes can be good, but he's not a guy with the offense for a 3 minute squash. So this kind of sucked. He wins with the Three-Point Stance clothesline.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Boston return is June 6th. Hogan comes on and Gene says it will be a Texas Death Match. Hogan says he said on the spot that if he can't beat Race, then he will retire. He says he's had it up to here with Bobby Heenan, and he's not backing down from that challenge. He says Hulkamania will live forever no matter what.

Footage airs of the HTM/Jake angle at SNME.

Match #3: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Joe Milano
This is the time HTM needs at about a minute and forty five seconds. He gets do do his sold fist drop, some good punches, and then wins with the Shake, Rattle, and Roll.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-CAN AMS VS. DEMOLITION CUM.
-Georgre Steele then is interviewed about his match vs. Danny Davis which uh...nope. No.

Match #4: Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Rick Hunter
This was not much, and was short. Khan wins with a Knee Drop off the middle.
1/2*

Match #5: Ken Patera vs. Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan & Harley Race

As much as I enjoy an actual match on Superstars, this blew. Terribly plain and boring power battle. Although Patera does still have cool power spots. Race thankfully interferes for a DQ.
3/4*

They keep beating on Patera until Billy Jack Haynes comes out to save. Great.

NEXT WEEK: HOGAN VS. ORTON!

Match #6: Tito Santana/Blackjack Mulligan/Billy Jack Haynes vs. The Shadows/Iron Mike Sharpe
DAT TRIO. All three got to show off a bit, Tito obviously being the best of them. Haynes gets the win with the Full Nelson.

Match #1: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Jerry Monti

Randy is back to only getting 90 seconds again, which sucks. It's still a Macho Man squash though, so it's awesome. Flying Elbow ends it.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-More bullshit about Superstar Graham's comeback

Match #2: Hillbilly Jim/Outback Jack vs. Buddy Ryder/Dave Barbie
Oh my god, why? Why is this a team? It was not very good at all. Jack wins with a very shoddy looking Bulldog.
1/2*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The Hogan promo from last week airs again

Match #3: One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. Jesse Cortez
YEAH! OMG is such an awesome big man. Perfect brick wall selling, painful looking offense, etc. He wins with a Flying Elbow off the middle rope.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Bobby Heenan comes out and he says he doesn't care about Hogan, but he is a huge idiot. He says the King should already be the champion, and he brings on Harley Race. He says he had beat Hogan last time in the Boston Garden, and he was laying in a pool of his own blood, and this match is right down his alley.

Match #4: Ken Patera vs. The Gladiator
This is better than last week. Probably because Gladiator is a jobber and lacks Herc's amazing ability to drag all opponents down. Patera has cool power spots and wins with a Bear Hug.
*1/2

The Snake Pit returns to being a regular thing. I guess it's okay, but I have a problem with regular babyface hosted talk shows, unless the host is a total comedian like on GTGM. I guess Piper's Pit spoiled me. Heenan, Race, and Herc come on. Heenan says Patera is big and strong, but his days are numbered and his time in the WWF is over.

Match #5: Hulk Hogan vs. Bob Orton w/ Mr. Fuji
This got like 9 minutes, so it was pretty good stuff. They have the average match between them. Legdrop ends it.
**1/2

In a pretape, Heenan promises to unveil his new tag team next week.

Match #1: The Can-Am Connection vs. The Islanders

Great great match for 3-4 minutes. Bobby Heenan comes out early on and he seems to be cheering for Martel and Zenk. They have none of it though, and argue with him on the floor. BUT THE ISLANDERS ATTACK FROM BEHIND! AWESOME! They beat the funk out of them and Zenk eats a slam and a falling double headbutt on the floor. The Islanders get back in and win by count out.
**1/4

Heenan raises the hands of The Islanders, and they leave with their new manager. This is really smart, as with the Bulldogs, Rougeaus, and Can-Ams, they were like the 4th best babyface tag team and got scraps. Now, they are heels and are probably 2nd from the top, below the Hart Foundation, since Demolition is still being built.

WWF UPDATE:
-WWF ICE CREAM BARS

Match #2: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Billy Anderson
Another too long HTM squash that exposes him by having him have to fill 4 minutes of offense. This makes no sense. They confine guys with tons of cool stuff to like 90 seconds and do this to limited guys. Shake, Rattle, and Roll gets the job done.
3/4*

Match #3: Jim Duggan vs. Iron Mike Sharpe

This was better, because they take Hacksaw, who doesn't have a ton of stuff, and he gets under 2 minutes. So he gets to steamroll a jobber and looks awesome as a result. He wins with the clothesline from a three point stance.
*1/4

Another video airs about Superstar Billy Graham.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Same Race promo from last time

Match #4: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Joe Mirto
Another great Harley squash. Fisherman's Buster gets the win for the King.
*3/4

Slick and OMG are on the Snake Pit. Not much of note is said, except Slick hyping up OMG.

Match #5: Ricky Steamboat vs. Dusty Wolfe
Great Steamboat showcase for 4 minutes. He does all of his cool shit and wins with the Crossbody.

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Harley Race [WWF Championship - Texas Death Match], Boston (June 6th)
This is great. Awesome 10 minute brawl from Hogan again. Cool spots, lots of hate and intensity, etc. They move from this really heated brawling run on the floor to begin, with punches and throwing chairs and choking each other, and then do moves in the ring, with both men showing good exhaustion selling. Awesome Race bumping. This isn't a Texas Death Match at all, it's just No DQ. Much like the Bob/Patera match in 1980. HARLEY DOES A DIVING HEADBUTT OFF THE APRON TO THE FLOOR JESUS CHRIST. He goes for another on the belt in the ring, but Hogan moves and Harley hits the belt! Hogan then hits Race with the belt for the DQ, and that is the first time I've seen the belt used as a weapon in WWF 80s watching.

Match #1: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jim Powers/Paul Roma

Another great Demolition squash. Powers gets offense in now, and he is the master of the token jobber offense. Demolition then murders Roma, as they should. Ax just slaughters Roma with a clothesline for the win.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene recaps The Islanders joining The Heenan Family

Match #2: Koko B. Ware vs. Tiger Chung Lee
Good Koko showcase. Tons of energy again, and he wins with the Missile Dropkick.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-I already did the show, so fuck it

Match #3: Kamala/Sika w/ Mr. Fuji & Kimchee vs. Sivi Afi/Don Adams
This is another solid squash. Kamala throws his weight around and the monsters' stuff looks good. Kamala wins with a Big Splash.
*1/2

Kamala tries to climb up top, but they talk him back down.

A pretape airs from Jack Tunney, and he says he will NOT ban the DDT.

Match #4: Ken Patera vs. Jimmy Jack Funk
Good stuff. Patera has fun power spots, and he wins with the Bear Hug.
*1/2

The Snake Pit with Outback Jack airs. Nothing of note happens. It was supposed to be Sheik, Nikolai, Butch, and Slick on, but this was taped before Sheik got fired after getting arrested with Duggan in a car full of weed. So that segment got pulled. Farewell, Sheiky Baby. Even if you haven't been used correctly since late 1984 and have been wasted carrying fucking Nikolai Volkoff for two and a half years.

Match #5: Brutus Beefcake vs. Tim Patterson
Horrible. Brother Bruti wins with the Sleeper.
1/2*

He cuts the jobber's hair post-match.

NEXT WEEK: STEAMBOAT VS. HONKY TONK MAN FOR THE IC TITLE. OH COME ON, NO. NOT ALREADY. :(

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Harley Race [WWF Championship - Texas Death Match], MSG (June 14th)
Still just No DQ. This is again great, and they change stuff up very well, while keeping the big core spots that made the Boston match as great as it was. Not quite as great due to the MSG set up not allowing for crowd brawling and lacking the space at ringside to do stuff that the Boston Garden has. Great Race offense and bumping, and Hogan does his stuff well. Race misses the headbutt and hits the belt, and Hogan hits Race with the title belt to win.

Another awesome Bulldogs squash. I have missed their squashes. Only 90 seconds though, and Dynamite wins with a Diving Headbutt off the top.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-More awful stuff with Billy Graham

Match #2: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Eric Cooper/SD Jones
YEAH, FINALLY HAKU IS JUST SLAUGHTERING JOBBERS! So intense and angry and violent and he is just the greatest. He wins with a series of falling headbutts to Cooper.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Return to Boston is 7/11
-Jake vs. HTM, Tito vs. Butch, and Can-Ams vs. The Islanders
-They come on and say The Islanders needed Heenan to beat them, and they don't need anyone

Match #3: The Junkyard Dog vs. Terry Gibbs
This is what it is.
THEN. NOW. THUMP.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Blackjack Mulligan, who yells about Outlaw Ron Bass

Match #4: The New Dream Team w/ Johnny V vs. Unnnamed Jobbers
Greg tries his best. But nope. Bravo wins with his shitty Sidewalk Slam.
3/4*

The Snake Pit happens with Hillbilly Jim and Little Beaver. They are mad at King Kong Bundy.

Match #5: Ricky Steamboat [c] vs. The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
This is only 4 minutes, but it's good. Steamboat can carry anyone, and HTM is good at being HTM. Steamboat bumps big and sells a ton and what not. He gets a cradle, but Honky reverses it with the ropes TO WIN THE TITLE. HORRIBLE. And now one of the biggest lies in WWE history begins. Not sure if it's higher up than saying Shawn Michaels is the all time greatest, but it's up there.
**

Match #6: One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. Silvano Sousa

Another good OMG squash. Only 90 seconds though. He wins with a Flying Elbow.

Match #1: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. The Killer Bees

The Bees again drag the Harts down, but at least it was only for 4 minutes. Unfortunately, booking suggests a series beginning, as the Bees do the mask switch spot to offset Davis and Jimmy, and one of them rolls up Bret to steal the win.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Footage airs of HTM's celebration in the back. The heels all congratulated him, even Savage. HTM then came out to the entrance after the end of the show and thanked the fans and said this title was for them.

Match #2: George Steele vs. Al Navarro
This isn't much. Only a minute too, before Steele wins with the Flying Hammerlock.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Brutus Beefcake says words

Match #3: The Can-Am Connection vs. Rick Renslow/Dave Wagner
Good stuff. Too short at under 2 minutes though. Martel wins with the Slingshot Splash.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Jake Roberts says on July 11th, HTM will maybe be the first champion to retire with the belt, after he hits another DDT. Jake says he gives Honky wake up calls at 4 am to get him ready, and says the reason he's had to antagonize him is because he wouldn't get in the ring with him. He says he got what he wanted, but he still hasn't gotten what he needs, which he's heard happens if you try sometimes, and he's tried a long time. Jake is the best.

Match #5: Billy Jack Haynes vs. Steve Lombardi
Another boring BJH squash. He wins with the Full Nelson.
1/2*

It is time for the Snake Pit and Savage and Liz are there too. Savage congratulates Honky Tonk Man to upset Jake, and Jake tells him to shut up. Savage says he's no longer worried about that belt, and he's looking at the top of the mountain again, and he'll take his place with the immortals. He says he's coming for Hulk Hogan. Jake says the worst curse in life is to have unlimited potential, and Savage guarantees that Macho Madness will surpass Hulk Hogan, and he's going to be World Champion a year from now. He says Hogan is #2, and Macho Man is #1.

Another awful Superstar Graham video airs.

Match #6: Harley Race/Paul Orndorff/King Kong Bundy/Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Mario Mancini/Don Driggers/Jim Powers/Paul Roma
Really enjoyable squash. Aside from Herc, all the Heenan Family guys have good squash offense to do. And hey, Mr. Wonderful is back! Good for him. Paul wins with the Piledriver on Mancini.
