Hulk Hogan/Ken Patera vs. Harley Race/Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan, Philadelphia (June 20th) Good house show match. Nothing amazing, but with these guys, it could easily have been bad if they decided to not give a shit. Race was MVP with his amazing bumping and selling. Patera had some cool power spots, and Hogan did his stuff well. Herc was useless, but whatever, that's a known fact. Hogan beats Race with the AXE BOMBAH~ **1/4 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars July 4th, 1987 Indianapolis, IN Match #1: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Sonny Rogers Randy again only gets like 90 seconds, but it was pretty fucking great as usual. This is the first squash I've seen where NOBODY is booing Randy Savage. Mach wins with the Flying Elbow. *1/2 WWF UPDATE: -Last week, The Heenan Family whipped Ken Patera with Heenan's belt Match #2: Kamala/Sika w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jim Powers/Mario Mancini This is decent again. During the match, Mr. Fuji does an inset promo and says he will have a new wrestler named Bam Bam. YEAH! Kamala wins with the Splash. *1/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -HTM says words THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_7PB3XEW4U Match #3: Tito Santana vs. Terry Gibbs Tito delivers as usual. Flying Forearm ends it. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -The Can-Ams repeat their promo about The Islanders Match #4: Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Outback Jack This is not much. Short, and Khan seems very very past his prime. Khan wins with the Knee Drop off the middle. 3/4* In a pretape, Slick and Butch Reed say they are not impressed with Billy Graham's comeback videos, and Butch says he's stronger than Billy ever was. The Killer Bees are on the Snake Pit. NO THANKS. Match #5: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Frankie DeFalco/SD Jones Another very good Islanders heel squash. During this, Heenan does an inset promo also promising that he has a new client named Bam Bam. Tama wins with a Flying Splash. *3/4 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars July 11th, 1987 Indianapolis, IN Match #1: Ken Patera vs. Iron Mike Sharpe Good squash for Patera as usual. Lots of cool strongman spots, and he wins with the Bear Hug. *1/2 WWF UPDATE: -Gene goes over Ted DiBiase's debut vignette last week Match #2: Harley Race/King Kong Bundy/Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Mario Mancini/Jim Evans/Paul Roma Fun squash for the Heenan Family. Too much Herc for it to be great, but the other two shined. During the match, Bobby Heenan does an inset promo and says Mr. Fuji is his friend, but he was mistaken last week, because he's the manager of Bam Bam. Bundy hits the Avalanche and then an elbow drop to win. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Honky Tonk Man says words Match #3: The Can-Am Connection vs. Terry Gibbs/Dusty Wolfe Another fun squash for Martel and Zenk. Martel continues to clearly carry the team, but Zenk isn't totally awful or anything. They give up a little too much offense to the jobbers, but not to a Killer Bees level or anything. The Can-Ams debut a Missile Dropkick style Hart Attack for the win. *3/4 Another Superstar Billy Graham video airs. In a pretape, Slick and Butch Reed say they are not impressed, and Butch says he'll do some poses of his own next week. This is a gigantic waste of one of the greatest wrestlers of the 80s. God damnit. Match #4: Jake Roberts vs. Brian Costello Only 90 seconds, but Jake did decent enough work. He wins with the DDT. *1/4 Footage airs from Predator. Match #5: The New Dream Team w/ Johnny V vs. Unnamed Jobbers Brutus Beefcake ruins this even more by joining for commentary. Greg Valentine is in for most of it, actually, so he gets Dino Bravo a point for once. During the match, Johnny V does an inset promo and says HE will be the one to manage Bam Bam. I like this angle. Valentine wins with the Figure Four. *1/4 Greg keeps it on, so Brutus Beefcake runs down and cuts his hair from behind like a faggot, before Greg bails out and leaves. Match #6: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Omar Atlas Short squash for the champion. Hart does an inset and says he's going to manage Bam Bam, and will have footage of him next week. HTM wins with the Shake, Rattle, and Roll. *1/4 |

Tito Santana vs. Don Muraco w/ Bob Orton, Boston (July 11th) Obviously not as great as their 1984 stuff, but it is a quality 8 minutes. They stick with the basics and matwork, and it's fun. Tito can work a hold like a motherfucker, and Muraco sort of tries. They have a good finishing run of fast paced stuff, and Tito wins with a sunset flip out of the corner. **1/2 Muraco shakes Tito's hand in a shocker, and he leaves as Orton yells at Muraco for doing so. The Honky Tonk Man [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Bruno Sammartino [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Boston (July 11th) Bruno is replacing Jake, which blows. I do not deserve this. Full of mediocre Honky bumping and shitty Bruno offense for some 11 minutes. Not sure why this got so much time when none of the Savage/Bruno stuff went longer than 8 minutes. Tons of HTM stalling, which is expected in a HTM match. Bruno works the arm, and Honky refuses to sell it at all. They do stuff on the floor, and Bruno gets back in, but Honky grabs his belt and leaves, taking a count out loss to save the belt. 3/4* |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars July 18th, 1987 Indianapolis, IN Match #1: Don Muraco/Bob Orton/Ron Bass vs. The Junkyard Dog/Hillbilly Jim/Billy Jack Haynes This happened. The heels saved it from getting no stars at all. Muraco and Orton keep miscommunicating though, and end up arguing on the floor, leading to the idiot babyfaces winning by count out. * WWF UPDATE: -This time, Ted DiBiase pays a restaurant owner to give him the best seat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPDzMDjfU-Y Match #2: The One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. Sonny Rogers Under 90 seconds, so it's far too short, but it's still great fun. Slick does an inset saying that now he will manage Bam Bam. OMG wins with a nasty Gourdbuster. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -This is for a San Fransisco show for whatever reason Match #3: The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Shadows The Rougeaus get 3 minutes, so this is great. Tons of cool Rougeau highspots, and they win with the Flying Dick Attack. ** GENE INTERVIEWS: -Billy Jack Haynes says words Footage airs of Butch Reed posing. Match #4: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Scott Casey/Omar Atlas This was another great tag squash! Mr. Fuji does an inset saying all the other managers are wrong, and he will be the manager of Bam Bam. Lots of awesome Demolition clubbing here and they win with the Decapitation. ** It is time for The Snake Pit, and Hulk Hogan comes on. Jake sickeningly puts him over for beating Andre, and asks him how he did it. Hogan says Hulkamania has three and a half years of momentum, dude, and nobody can stop the avalanche, dude. He says the next #1 Contender has to deal with that, brother. Killer Khan and Mr. Fuji then come out and Khan spits mist in his face. Terrible. Clearly just a time killing feud here. Anyways, Hogan is helped to the back. Match #5: Brutus Beefcake vs. Pete Sanchez Terrible. 1/2* He cuts the jobber's hair post-match. In a pre-tape, Jimmy Hart introduces footage of Bam Bam, and it's just a top view of Bam Bam's head tatoos, and him snarling. Match #6: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Mike Richards/Jerry Allen Solid stuff, but shorter than the other two tag squashes, and thus, not as good. They win with the Hart Attack. *1/2 |

Ware vs. Barry Horowitz BARRY DEBUTS! YEAH! He has great jobber offense and bumps and shit. Koko wins with the Ghostbuster. ** WWF UPDATE: -Footage airs from a house show as Ted DiBiase pays a fan $100 to kiss his feet -Also, Tom Zenk has left the WWF, so the Can-Ams are done Match #2: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. SD Jones/Scott Casey Great Islanders squash. Bobby does an inset saying that his Islanders ran Tom Zenk out of the WWF. The Islanders win with a Double Leaping Headbutt to Casey on the mat. *3/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -More San Fransisco house show hype A highlight video airs of Jake Roberts. Match #3: Ron Bass vs. Lanny Poffo Only 90 seconds, so they don't get to do a lot. Bass wins with what is best described as a Pedigree with no arms hooked. *1/4 Match #4: Superstar Billy Graham vs. Steve Lombardi This sucked, but it was at least short. Graham wins with a Sleeper. 1/45* Craig DeGeorge interviews Butch Reed and Slick on the new interview stage, and Butch challenges Graham to a posedown next week. Match #5: The Killer Bees vs. Iron Mike Sharpe/Tiger Chung Lee That is a jobber superteam. The Bees aren't great, but they at least understood how to do a squash here. They hit a Double Dropkick on Lee to win. * A pre-tape airs of each manager saying Bam Bam will sign with them. Match #6: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Omar Atlas Savage finally gets 2 minutes again, and it is another fantastic Macho Man squash. He wins with the Flying Elbow. ** |

The Honky Tonk Man [c] vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship], MSG (July 25th) STEAMBOAT LIVES! This is the best HTM match yet, due to Steamboat being super energetic. Honky takes a lot of bumps, and his stalling seems warranted due to how fast and fiery Steamboat's offense was. It doesn't work against someone who's already really slow, like Bruno. And then Steamboat sells a lot to make HTM's control work. They fight on the floor, and HTM again bails out to take the count out loss. **1/2 The Hart Foundation [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship], MSG (July 25th) This wasgood, but not great. They had only 10 minutes, so it felt kind of rushed at the end. Opening and Harts control segment was quality work as usual, and Davey had an awesome hot tag for himself. Neidhart trips him up from the floor as he tries to Suplex Bret in though, and holds his legs down on the pin, and the Hart Foundation retains. **1/2 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars August 1st, 1987 Glens Falls, NY Match #1: The Rougeau Brothers/Brutus Beefcake vs. Three Jobbers UGH. I was hoping the WWF had done away with the 1985/early 1986 run where they saddled the worst babyfaces in the company with the best workers in the company in random TV tags, like Tito and JYD or Steamboat and JYD, etc. But nope. This is a thing again, I guess. The Rougeaus don't stop being great, but Brutus keeps them from the ** mark. The Flying Dick Attack gets the win. *1/2 Brutus takes advantage of their work and cuts a jobber's hair. WWF UPDATE: -Clips air of Sherri Martel beating Moolah for the Women's Title that apparently still exists Match #2: Harley Race/Rick Rude/Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Mario Mancini/Ricky Hunter/Jerry Allen RICK RUDE! YEAH! This is all about him, and he's not quite great yet, but isn't as bad as his early stuff that I've seen. He wins with a Slingshot Suplex. Heenan does an inset saying Rick Rude is a close friend of Bam Bam Bigelow, so he has the inside track. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -More San Fransisco promos wtf -I have no use for house show promos that don't promote cards that get taped In a pretape, Ted DiBiase pays off a hotel clerk to give him the honeymoon suite and they kick out the new married couple in there. EVERYBODY'S GOT A PRICE! Match #3: Ken Patera vs. Terry Gibbs Fun short squash again. Bear Hug ends it. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Heenan and The Islanders say they ran Tom Zenk out of wrestling, and they dare Martel to find another partner. MMMM IT'S COMING. Match #4: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Joe Malono Another solid, but not impressive, HTM squash. He wins with the Shake, Rattle, and Roll. Jimmy Hart does an inset saying Bobby Heenan is mistaken, because BBB is his. * Craig DeGeorge is on the interview stage with Rick Martel, and he goes over Zenk quitting. Martel says he is not a quitter, and he says The Islanders will pay for it. He says he'll fight by himself if he has to. The Butch vs. Superstar pose-down happens. It is pretty gay and awful. Reed and Slick attack Billy Graham, but he runs them off. Match #5: Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Eric Cooper This is at least short. Khan sucks at squashes. Fuji says BBB belongs with his stable, because he focuses on big big men. Khan uses mist to the eyes and then hits a knee drop from the middle to win. 1/2* |

The Hart Foundation [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Rick Martel/The Junkyard Dog [WWF Tag Team Championship], Prime Time Wrestling (August 3rd) This is good shit. JYD holds it back a little, but whatever. Martel vs. Bret is so so so so so good. Martel is maybe the best babyface in the company here, since he's regularly getting time, has a ton of fire, takes huge bumps, etc. Basically just a Canadian version of 84-86 level Tito. Then Bret and Neidhart get the best out of JYD with bug bumps and shit. Martel is a great face in peril. JYD gets in and the Harts are DQ'd for excessive double teaming. This got me super hyped up for Strike Force. **3/4 |

This isn't total shit, but Tito and the two heels had to try hard to get there. Orton and Muraco keep fighting. Orton tries the Tombstone at a point, but Tito blocks it. Muraco then tries the Superplex on Tito, but Orton pushes him off and tito lands on top to win. *1/4 Orton and Muraco then brawl and it is broken up. WWF UPDATE: -Jimmy Hart says Bam Bam has rejected him as a manager Match #2: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Sivi Afi/Brady Boone Boone sucks on offense, but Demolition did enough cool stuff to salvage it. Not sure why Boone gets a push by getting offense in. Boone is beat with the Decapitation. *3/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Jim Brunzell comes in to say words. Fuck that. Footage airs of Ted DiBiase at a house show, and he pays a girl to wipe the sweat off of his face. BECAUSE EVERYBODY'S GOT A PRICE. Match #3: George Steele vs. Dusty Wolfe Another short Steele squash. Hammerlock ends it. 1/2* GENE INTERVIEWS: -Heenan says Hogan's days are numbered Mr. T comes out to do his job as WWF enforcer. Match #4: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. Jim Powers/Paul Roma Fun 3 minutes. Powers gets his cool jobber offense in. Roma has an awful hot tag and some of the worst punches ever. Bret gets a pin with his feet on the ropes. ** Mr. T then reverses the decision, and the jobbers win by DQ! Craig interviews Heenan and The Islanders on the stage. Heenan says Zenk didn't have the heart, but he's at least smarter than Martel. He says Martel can go quit too, but he's too stupid, because now The Islanders are going to beat him into retirement too. Craig repeats that Rick wants to fight them still, and they laugh. Match #5: Jake Roberts vs. Barry Horowitz Only a minute, unfortunately. Jake wins with the DDT. *1/4 Match #6: The One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. David Stoudimiere Short squash. OMG wins with the Gourdbuster. * OMG keeps on the attack, and referees come out to try and stop them, so Gang hits one of them with the Gourdbuster too. |

This gets 2 minutes, so Savage is awesome as ever. Flying Elbow gets him the win. ** WWF UPDATE: -Recap of OMG killing everyone last week, and Craig says he was fined $10,000 Match #2: Sensational Sherri vs. Lady Jobber This happened. Sherri won. 1/4* GENE INTERVIEWS: -Hey, MSG hype now! -August 22nd is the show -Martel vs. Haku! Tito vs. Bass! -Then Steamboat vs. HTM for the belt in a lumberjack match -Ricky says Honky Tonk will not be able to run and abuse the rules to save his title anymore A vignette airs of Honky singing at a club, and he says he should be on the front of the Piledriver album. AND THEN HE DEBUTS HIS AMAZING CLASSIC THEME SONG! I GOT LONG SIDE BURNS AND MY HAIR'S SLICKED BACK, COMING TO YOUR TOWN IN A PINK CADILLAC -- and then it cuts off before the chorus. WTF. GAY. Match #3: Jake Roberts vs. Dave Wagner Solid squash once again from babyface Jake Roberts. DDT ends it. *1/2 GENE INTERVIEWS: -Brutus says words. Nope. Match #4: The New Dream Team w/ Johnny V vs. Brady Boone/Sonny Rogers Boone is still the worst, and that means Valentine has trouble carrying two guys and an average jobber. Greg wins with the Figure Four after too much Boone offense. 3/4* Craig interviews Heenan and Rick Rude on the stage. Heenan says Rude has the greatest physique in the the Heenan Family, in the WWF, and in all of wrestling and professional sports. Heenan says the whole Family is proud of Rude, and Craig says Paul Orndorff wasn't there. Heenan says he's been busy, and says next week, Paul Orndorff will come out and admit that Rick Rude is amazing and has the best physique. Match #5: Rick Martel vs. Barry Horowitz Solid 3 minute showcase. Barry does awesome as usual, and Martel delivers the goods. He wins with a really pretty looking Flying Crossbody. ** The Islanders come out to make the save, AND TITO SANTANA COMES OUT TO SAVE! FUCK YEAH! Match #6: Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. Jerry Allen Enjoyable Ted squash. Only 90 seconds though, so that stops him from a great debut squash. He wins with the Million Dollar Dream and then a pin once Allen is out. *1/2 |

Tito Santana/Jake Roberts/Bruno Sammartino vs. The Honky Tonk Man/The Hart Foundation [Elimination Match], Boston (August 15th) It's only 15 minutes, and in a trios match, there's no real need for the HTM stalling parade. Bret/Tito rules. Jake is a great face in peril. He falls out to the floor on a double down with Honky, but the Harts distract him, so Jake is counted out! Bruno sucks, but they isolate him immediately, so that's good. Tito has a great hot tag, and eliminates Bret with the Flying Forearm. Tito vs. Neidhart is still really good, and yeah. Tito also carries Honky. This match feels like Tito loudly stating, in match form, that he's still one of the best in the company. Neidhart hits him with the megaphone to eliminate him. Of course that makes sense. Goddamnit. Layout of this makes no sense. You have two limited guys in HTM and Bruno, who are feuding. Then you have the best tag team in the company, a solid hand in Jake, and a guy who's capable of being a serious workhorse. Logic says you get rid of the dead weight early, but nope. Bruno is the last guy on his team, opposite Anvil and Honky. Match falls apart for the final 3 minutes after Tito is gone, holding it back from being great. Bruno eliminates Neidhart after Hart misfires with the megaphone, and then he beats Honky with a terrible knee lift. **3/4 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars August 22nd, 1987 Madison, WI Match #1: Ken Patera vs. Tom Stone Another solid Patera squash. He noticeably injures his arm doing a Powerslam, and then quickly hits an elbow drop with his other arm to win. *1/2 WWF UPDATE: -Mr. Fuji has also been rejected in the battle for Bam Bam Bigelow Match #2: Butch Reed w/ Slick vs. Jim Evans FINALLY, BUTCH IS BACK IN THE RING. YEAH! Awesome power spots again, and yeah. He wins with his amazing looking Gorilla Press Slam. ** Butch calls out Graham, and he comes out and runs out Butch Reed and Slick. I know the WWF in the second half of the 80s wasn't really all about realism and shit, but when a decrepit old fuck like Superstar can easily wipe the floor with BUTCH FUCKING REED, that's where the line has to be drawn. GENE INTERVIEWS: -Nobody -Just goes over the MSG card Match #3: Kamala/Sika w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jim Powers/Paul Roma Good Powers jobber stuff, and Kamala and Sika look good again. Powers and Roma get a shocking comeback, and they knock the big guys to the floor AND WIN BY COUNTOUT HOLY SHIT WHAT?! *3/4 Highlights air of the Muraco/Orton split. Match #4: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jerry Allen/Mike Richards This is only like 50 seconds, so it's not great. But it's still a Haku squash, so you know, it's worth watching. They hit the Double Jumping Headbutt to win. * In the back, Craig interviews Tito Santana and Rick Martel. Rick says they challenged him to find a tag team partner, and he did just that, and says they'll pay now. Tito says they're going to beat the Islanders, and they would be striking with great force. I cannot wait. Match #5: Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jobber Another nothing squash for Khan. 1/2* Craig is on the interview set now with Bobby Heenan, and he brings out Paul Orndorff. Heenan thanks Mr. Wonderful for coming out here, and asks him to settle any controversy and admit that Rick Rude has the best body in the world. Paul says he has a good one, but he's not Mr. Wonderful. He says Heenan can't replace him, and Heenan says it's not his fault Orndorff couldn't get the job done. Orndorff AGAIN fires Bobby Heenan and introduces his new manager, Sir Oliver Humperdink. Heenan is very mad. Match #6: Koko B. Ware vs. Chris Curtis This is all of 30 seconds and Koko wins with the Ghostbuster. BOOOO. 1/2* |

Honky Tonk Man [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Ricky Steamboat [WWF Intercontinental Championship - Lumberjack Match], MSG (August 22nd) This is not much, due to the lumberjack stip. It makes sense here, and I appreciate it, but every LJ match is always more about getting the rules over than working an actual match. It logically would cut off HTM's stalling, but he just finds different ways to do it. Anyways, Ricky tried, but it wasn't happening tonight. HTM hits him with Jimmy Hart's megaphone to win. ** |

Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. Jim Duggan, Houston (August 28th) This is supposedly the match that won Duggan his job back after he and Sheik got fired for the drug bust in May. This is in old Mid-South territory, so the crowd is super hot for this pairing. This is much more UWF Duggan than WWF Duggan, as he's hitting hard, being energetic, and not relying on shtick. Ted bumps a ton, and it's a great 7 minute slugfest. Ted has his awesome bumps for the Duggan comeback. Ted ducks the three -point stance, and Duggan hits the bottom buckle. Ted then hits his middle rope Flying Elbow to win. **3/4 Hulk Hogan [c] vs. The One Man Gang w/ Slick [WWF Championship], Houston (August 28th) Thank god, Hogan is finally back from his summer long vacation from taped house shows. Hopefully I missed the entire Killer Khan feud. This is good stuff, and way better than Hogan/Kamala and a little better than the Hogan/Bundy stuff. Token Hogan vs. Monster stuff, but OMG is one of the better monsters for Hogan. They tease the slam well, and yeah. OMG's stuff is good, and then Hogan slams him and hits the Legdrop to win. **1/2 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars August 29th, 1987 Madison, WI Match #1: Paul Orndorff w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Iron Mike Sharpe IRON MIKE WITH OFFENSE! YEAH! Paul is okay, but still somewhat rusty. He wins with the Piledriver. *1/2 WWF UPDATE: -Brutus gets haircut training from some fag stylist Match #2: Harley Race/Rick Rude/Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Pete Sanchez/Rick Gantner/Frankie DeFalco Solid squash, but 90 seconds is way too short for a six man squash. It was mostly Rude doing stuff, so that was fine. He wins with a Bruno-style Backbreaker hold. *1/2 In a pretape, Ventura tells Heenan that he's heard that Bam Bam had turned him down too. Heenan is mad and leaves, and Ventura says the only one Bam Bam Bigelow hasn't turned down is Slick, so Slick must be his manager. Match #3: The Junkyard Dog vs. Terry Gibbs Nothing match. Slam. The end. MOTHERTHUMPER. GENE INTERVIEWS: -Gene plugs a Meadowlands card, which is useless again because it's not taped Match #4: The One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. Two Jobbers Awesome OMG squash. He gets 2 minutes to murder the no name guys around, and hits a Double Gourdbuster to win. During the match, an inset airs from Slick. He celebrates signing Bam Bam Bigelow, and says he will debut soon. ** A pretape airs from Jimmy Hart and Honky Tonk Man. Honky says he's realized something and that he's not just a great champion. He says Ricky Steamboat was nothing, Tito Santana was good, and Randy Savage was great, but the Honky Tonk Man is the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. GENE INTERVIEWS: -Hogan flexes a lot as Gene hypes up the MSG card. Gene says it's Hogan vs. OMG on 9/21. Hogan says the Garden may crumble down this time, brother. He says it's just another fight, and says he's the real mayor of New York City. Hogan says the Gang is no different than that sloppy Andre the Giant or any other #1 Contender that he's beaten. I enjoy how Hogan has gotten almost arrogant in the five months or so since he's beaten Andre. It's probably not intentional on the WWF's part, but it's great. Hogan says he's beaten every gang in history, so a one man gang shouldn't be too hard, dude. Craig has Ted DiBiase and Virgil on the stage. Ted pays a fan $200 for kissing Virgil's foot. Match #5: Strike Force vs. Steve Lombardi/Tiger Chung Lee FUCK YEAH STRIKE FORCE! They are exactly as awesome as I thought they would be. They get 3 minutes, and as the best babyfaces in the company, they both deliver. Lots of cool offense, and Tito beats Lee with the Flying Forearm. ** In a pretape, Slick says he will unveil Bam Bam Bigelow next week. Match #6: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Sivi Afi/Scott Casey Good squash, but not great, due to being too short. Still though, fun shit. Decapitation ends it. *3/4 |

WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987 WWF Superstars September 5th, 1987 Fresno, CA Match #1: Jake Roberts vs. Dusty Wolfe Good squash, but too long for a wrestler like Jake, at some three and a half minutes. DDT gets the win for Jake. * WWF UPDATE: -A recap airs of Orndorff turning on Heenan again Match #2: The Hart Foundation/Danny Davis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Jim Powers/Paul Roma/Brady Boone This was not good. Too much Davis and Boone. The Harts vs. Jobbers stuff was good though. The Hart Attack beats Boone. *1/4 GENE INTERVIEWS: -More Meadlowlands hype Match #3: Don Muraco vs. Tim Patterson Fun Muraco squash. He's sort of a face now, and has new stuff as a babyface, like punch combos and headbutts. He wins with a Tombstone. ** Craig is on the stage, and he brings Slick on the stage, along with Nikolai Volkoff. He introduces his new client, BAM BAM BIGELOW! YEAH! He comes out and says Slick is not his manager, and introduces Sir Oliver Humperdink as his manager, and he punches out Nikolai. Match #4: Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Mike Starr This sucked again. 1/2* GENE INTERVIEWS: -The Hogan promo from last week is aired again Match #5: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Tiger Chung Lee HOLY FUCK, SAVAGE IS OVER. Easily the biggest reaction since the last time Hogan was on Superstars. He again lets Elizabeth walk in front when they come out. Also interesting to note how Savage now has a heel jobber opponent. They've gradually been doing more and more to make Savage a likeable guy, since people already want to cheer him. Anyways, Savage gets 3 minutes to show off, and he wins with the Flying Elbow. ** A pretape airs from HTM and Jimmy Hart. Honky says he's the greatest IC Champion and he understands some of the former champions are a little upset with him, namely Randy Savage. He says Randy can't wrestle as good as he can, or dance, or sing as good as the Honky Tonk Man. Match #6: The Killer Bees vs. Steve Lombardi/Iron Mike Sharpe Another ultra-rare (until the 2000s when WWE's job squad was amazing) jobber carryjob. Brunzell wins with his stupid dropkick. *1/4 |

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji [WWF Championship], Boston (September 12th) Oh my god, this was so bad. Khan is the most boring motherfucker ever. He does stomps and shitty strikes for about 8 minutes, and Hogan clearly takes the night off, because there is no possibility of a good match with his hideous fuck. He comes back in the final minute and wins with the Legdrop. Worst Hogan title defense ever at this point. Probably a high candidate for worst WWF Title match ever. 1/2* |
