WWF Champion: Hulk Hogan, Since 1/23/1984 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987
WWF Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation, Since 2/7/1987

WWF Superstars
September 12th, 1987

Fresno, CA

Match #1: Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Nikolai Volkoff[/b]
Both managers are there. This is a pretty solid 4 minute showcase for Bam Bam, and he does all his cool agile big man spots. He wins with a Diving Headbutt.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-More bullshit about Superstar Billy Graham

Match #2: The Rougeau Brothers/Koko B. Ware vs. Billy Anderson/Leroy Malion/Rudy Ryder
DAT BABYFACE TEAM. OH MY GOD. So much cool offense going on between the three of them. Koko beats Leroy with the Ghostbuster.
**

Craig is on the stage with Ted DiBiase and Virgil. Ted challenges a child to do 10 push ups for $300, but when he is on 8, Virgil kicks his arm out, so Ted refuses to give him any money and security takes the kid away.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-We're back to Boston promos, but I just reviewed that match, brother.
-Hogan says he's gonna get even with Killer Khan for Pearl Harbor.

Before the Rick Rude squash, which has the entire Heenan Family at ringside, Heenan introduces Andre the Giant, and he stands at ringside.

Match #3: Rick Rude w/ The Heenan Family vs. Jerri Monti
Rude wins with his Backbreaker in 30 seconds.
1/4*

In footage from last week, Randy Savage storms into the locker room, AND THROWS JIMMY HART AGAINST THE WALL! YEAH! He yells at him to shut up, and says Honky Tonk Man isn't the greatest Intercontinental Champion, the Macho Man is, yeah. He lets him go and tells him to shut his man up. Savage leaves and Hart yells that Savage will be sorry.

Match #4: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Steve Gatorwolf
Decent HTM squash. He wins with the Shake, Rattle, and Roll.
*

Match #5: Butch Reed w/ Slick vs. Sivi Afi

Another great squash from Butch Reed. Cool power offense, throws, and he wins with a Flying Clothesline.
**

BUY PILEDRIVER THE ALBUM.

Match #6: Strike Force vs. The Shadows
And Tito and Martel deliver another great squash on this episode. They do cool moves and double teams and Tito wins with the Flying Forearm.

Match #1: Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. SD Jones

Solid squash from Ted. He got to show off some cool offense and all his basic stuff looked good. He weirdly again uses the Falling Elbow off the middle buckle to win.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-The BBB/Slick stuff is recapped

Match #2: Brutus Beefcake vs. Ricky Ataki
No thanks!

BUY PILEDRIVER. THE DEMOLITION SONG IS ON IT.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Boston return is October 3rd
-Randy Savage comes on. He says the Boston Garden is historical for the Macho Man Randy Savage when he took the Intercontinental Title belt a long time ago, yeah. He says Hercules will be no problem, and he'll deliver a secret to him. YEAH.

Match #3: Jake Roberts vs. Terry Gibbs
There is no reason for this to go 4 minutes, but it does just that. DDT ends it.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Strike Force comes in. Martel says it's finally 2 vs. 2 against The Islanders, and in MSG, not even Heenan will be able to save them.

Match #4: The One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. Jesse Cortez
Another sub-60 second OMG squash. Gourdbuster ends it.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-This awesome Savage promo happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgcdyGB7hpg

Match #5: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Lanny Poffo/Scott Casey
Awesome squash for 3 minutes or so. Double Diving Headbutt ends it.
**

In a pretape, Honky Tonk Man says he will give 10 reasons next week why he is the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.

Match #6: Paul Orndorff w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Barry Horowitz
Solid, but not great, Orndorff squash. He wins with the Piledriver.

Strike Force vs. The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan, MSG (September 21st)
This gets 15 minutes, so it is great. I get the sense that with the Harts occupied with The Killer Bees and too short Bulldogs matches, and the Rougeaus without an actual feud, if Strike Force had debuted a few months earlier, they would easily win TTOTY. But they didn't debut until late August, and thus, it is a mathematical impossibility. Tama has unexpectedly great bumping, Tito and Martel have amazing offense and selling, etc. Good control seg on Tito, and the Martel hot tag was amazing. Haku sneaks in to hit a Jumping Headbutt to Martel when he covers Tama. He then rolls Tama out and illegally takes the pin for the win.
***

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. The One Man Gang [WWF Championship], MSG (September 21st)

Another enjoyable match between them. A lot of the same stuff, but this is more of a first match in a series. They don't do everything and OMG dominates more of it. They end up brawling on the floor, and it goes to a double count out to ensure future rematches.

WWF Superstars
September 26th, 1987
Peoria, IL

Match #1: Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Barry Horowitz

Another awesome BBB squash. BAM BAM WINS WITH A FUCKING SLINGSHOT SPLASH HOLY SHIT.
**

Craig has HTM and Jimmy Hart on the stage. He asks for the supposed 10 reasons that make him the greatest Intercontinental Champion. Honky says he has the best song on Piledriver, and that's #1. #2, he has the best manager in the world, and he has a MAN for a manager, not some broad. Randy Savage comes on, and grabs the mic. He says he's looking at the greatest champion of all time, Randy Savage, yeah. He says Honky is gonna wake up with a Macho Madness hangover if he keeps doing the thing. Honky says HE'S the greatest of all time. Randy goes to the ring, and challenges him to come and prove it. Honky says he's not dressed to compete, and he leaves.

Match #2: Jim Powers/Paul Roma vs. The Shadows
The now named Young Stallions, as Vince calls them that mid-way through, have taken Jimmy Hart's song "Crank It Up". Powers carries the team, and they actually get time to have a showcase. Weird. Powers wins with a Powerslam.
*1/2

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-The Savage promo from last week is played again.

Tito Santana is doing Spanish commentary tonight.

Match #3: The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart & Danny Davis vs. SD Jones/Sonny Rogers
Good Foundation squash. Too much jobber offense for it to be great, but whatevs. Hart Attack beats Sonny.
*3/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Brutus Beefcake says words

Match #4: Jim Duggan vs. Terry Gibbs
Duggan is back! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Solid squash, and he wins with the Three-Point Clothesline.
*1/4

WWF UPDATE:
-BUY PILEDRIVER

Match #5: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Evans/Brady Boone
UGH. BRADY BOONE GETS OFFENSE AGAIN. HE'S THE WORST. They eventually kill his partner though, and the Double Jumping Headbutt gets them the win.
*3/4

The Islanders then jump Tito at ringside, and they beat him down in the ring. They hit repeated Double Headbutts. Pedro comes out from the commentary desk too to try and save, and Vince says Martel isn't here tonight. They beat up Pedro too, and referees come out to break it up.

Match #6: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Rick Renslow
Awesome 2 minute Savage squash. Tons of energy, and he even carries a shitty jobber like this. Jesse is awesome on commentary, shitting on Vince for now being a Randy Savage fan just because he has an issue with Honky Tonk Man, when he's been this great for 2 years now. Savage wins with the Flying Elbow.

WWF SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT
OCTOBER 3RD, 1987
HERSHEY, PA

I x'd out on accident, so I'm not retyping the promos and shit.

In the back, Gene interviews Honky and Jimmy Hart. He asks why they've chosen to come out first. Honky says he wants to give the people what they want early, and that's the Honky Tonk Man entertaining all the great people. He says he's going to shake, rattle, and roll, and then he's going to take Savage's woman too, because she likes the way he walks.

In the back, Gene is with Randy Savage. I'VE BEEN IN THE DANGER ZONE, YEAH. EAST OF THE PACIFIC, WEST OF LONDON, SOUTH OF MARS, NORTH OF HELL, YEAH. MACHO MADNESS, GOING TO THE DANGER ZONE. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojKAS0p-uCE

Match #1: The Honky Tonk Man [c] vs. Randy Savage [WWF Intercontinental Championship]
Both managers are at ringside. Honky's shtick needs someone with cool offense for it to work. So it's the worst against Bruno, but good against Steamboat, and awesome against Savage. Savage gets a lot of the offense, and it's all good and energetic and shit. Jimmy Hart keeps interfering, SO SAVAGE KNOCKS HIM OUT WITH A PUNCH! YEAH! The Hart Foundation comes out to help Jimmy Hart to the back, but then they stay ringside when they return. Savage hits the Flying Elbow, but Bret and Neidhart attack for a DQ.
**3/4

They keep attacking post-match, and Honky Tonk Man joins in. They stomp on Savage, and Honky Tonk Man brings his guitar in. Bret and Neidhart hold Savage up, and Honky takes his time teasing Savage by lining up his guitar and switching angles. Elizabeth looks panicked, AND ELIZABETH GETS IN AND STANDS IN FRONT OF SAVAGE! YEAH! Honky drops the guitar, BUT THEN HONKY SHOVES LIZ DOWN! BOOOOOOOOOOOO! Elizabeth runs to the back, AND HONKY PICKS THE GUITAR BACK AND SMASHES IT OVER SAVAGE'S HEAD! He goes down and the beatdown continues, BUT WAIT JUST A MINUTE!

Posted Image Posted Image

HULK HOGAN COMES IN AND MAKES THE SAVE! BUT THEY ALSO BEAT ON HIM, AND RANDY SAVAGE SAVES! HOGAN AND SAVAGE RUN THE HEELS OFF! BUT THEN THEY BACK INTO EACH OTHER!

Posted Image

Posted Image

AND HOGAN AND SAVAGE SHAKE HANDS! They celebrate with Liz, and that was amazing.

In the back, Gene interviews Mr. Fuji and Sika. Fuji says Sika will eat anything, including live chickens, and that's nothing compared to what he will do to Hulk Hogan tonight.

In the back, Gene interviews Hulk Hogan. Hogan says everyone knows Hulkamania is the strongest force in the universe, but when the Madness and the Mania got together, it was unbelievable. Hogan says he won't be able to bite into these 24 inch pythons, because the WWF is his jungle, brother.

Match #2: Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Sika w/ Mr. Fuji & Kimchee [WWF Championship]
This was whatever. Not bad or anything, but after almost four years, Hogan vs. Monster is kind of boring unless it's a monster with cool offense like OMG or it has some kind of a hook. Sika does his stuff well, and Hogan makes his comeback and hits the Legdrop for the win.
**1/4

In the back, Gene interviews Paul Orndorff. Paul says he's declared war on Bobby Heenan for embarrassing him by trying to make him take a backseat. He says Mr. Wonderful takes a backseat to nobody, so he fired him a SECOND time.

Match #3: Paul Orndorff vs. King Kong Bundy
Humperdink and Heenan are both ringside, and Heenan does commentary and promises a big surprise. This happened, generally speaking. Paul is barely trying/past his prime, and Bundy is whatever. Bundy is knocked out to the floor, so Heenan motions to the back, and Andre The Giant comes back out! He eventually pulls Paul back into the corner and holds him there so that Bundy can hit an Avalanche for the win.
**

Match #4: The Hart Foundation [c] vs. The Young Stallions [WWF Tag Team Championship]

Fun 3-4 minutes. Powers has solid jobber offense, Roma doesn't fuck anything up, and the Harts do what they do. Roma gets beat with the Hart Attack.

Hulk Hogan [c] vs. Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil [WWF Championship], Houston (October 9th)
I like the idea of taping these early Houston versions of future WWF Title programs. Comes off like Houston is a testing ground for future stuff, and it lets you see the early versions of potentially great pairings. Tons of awesome DiBiase bumping going on. Not quite great, since it's only 9 minutes and like 25% of that is Ted's stalling. Ted's control seg was pretty awesome, and then Hogan makes the comeback. They brawl on the floor, and hogan rolls Ted in, but Virgil shoves Hogan into the post and Ted wins by count out!

Match #1: Don Muraco vs. Bob Orton

This was a fun 2 minutes. Shame it only got 2 minutes, but both men are basically on their way out. Muraco gets an inside cradle to block a Suplex for the win.
*3/4

Craig has Bobby Heenan and Andre the Giant on the stage. Heenan says Andre has not been in a ring since WrestleMania III, since he was robbed of the WWF Championship in front of the largest crowd in the history of professional sports. Heenan says Hulk Hogan and poor officiating robbed Andre, and he has told him that he will not step into a ring again unless he can get in the ring with Hulk Hogan. Heenan says the day has come for Andre to step back into the ring, and that day will be Thanksgiving night, AT THE SURVIVOR SERIES! FUCK YEAH! He says there will be an elimination match. He says Hogan has Graham, Pater, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Orndorff, and says he hopes Hogan has fun trusting him. MOTHERFUCKING CONTINUITY! He says Andre will have Butch Reed, One Man Gang, Rick Rude, and King Kong Bundy!

SURVIVOR SERIES: NOVEMBER 26TH!

Match #2: Strike Force vs. Tiger Chung Lee/Barry Horowitz
Another great Tito and Martel squash. Tito beats Barry with the Flying Forearm.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Boston return will be on November 7th
-It will be HTM vs. Savage for the IC Title and Strike Force vs. The Islanders with two referees!
-And then Brutus comes in to speak and that isn't something I'm going to cover, because fuck him

Match #3: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Arthur Washington
This was only 45 seconds, so that was lame. Fisherman's Buster ends it.
*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-JYD says shit

Match #4: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Mario Mancini/Van Van Horne
Enjoyable, but too short, Demolition squash. Decapitation ends it. HERE COMES THE AX! HERE COMES THE SMASHER!
*3/4

Match #5: Butch Reed/The One Man Gang/Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick vs. Sivi Afi/Lance Allen/Jake Millman

Very fun squash. Nikolai holds it back from being great, but Butch and OMG were awesome, making with power and fat man spots respectively. OMG wins with the Gourdbuster on Millman.

Strike Force vs. The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan, Philadelphia (October 10th)
Another great match! Tama has his cool bumps, and something I forgot to note from their MSG match is how they make the Heel in Peril thing work really well. A lot of times, it sucks because it's faces doing boring matwork to kill time, but Tito and Martel make the best of it by doing really cool spots, so it seems understandable that the heels would have a hard time getting anything going. Haku completely destroys Tito with a Superkick to transition to the control segment. great stuff as usual, and Martel scores with the hot tag. Tito gets back in and puts Tama in the Figure Four. Haku comes off the top with a Diving Headbutt though, and illegally covers for the win. Basically the same as MSG, but with a better finish.

Strike Force vs. The Islanders [Best of Three Falls], MSG (October 16th)
Not as great as their Philly match, but still great. Only 10 minutes though, which makes no sense given the stip. Lacks the awesome Strike Force shine in the first half, as they go right into the Islanders controlling the first fall on Martel. Tito gets in, and they injure his knee. They keep stopping the tag through illegal means, which upsets Martel. He comes in illegally, but it distracts the ref, allowing The Islanders to hit a Double Jumping Headbutt to go 1-0. Tito's leg selling is amazing, as usual, not having lost a step since the Valentine feud. Tito gets an inside cradle on Tama, but Haku reverses it behind the ref's back. Martel reverses it back and dropkicks Haku out, and it goes 1-1! Martel finally gets the tag, and it is great. He avoids a headbutt from Haku that hits Tama, and he rolls up Haku to win. Awesome logic there, the only thing that can stop a Tongan headbutt is the head of another Tongan.

No thanks!

Craig is on the stage, and he brings out Hulk Hogan! He asks about the Survivor Series. Hogan says survival is the theme, and he's survived for four years, man. He says they came for the WWF Title for the last 4 years, and it's all about survival. He says he survived WrestleMania III, as controversial as it was. He says everyone on his team is a Hulkamaniac (I guess he and Orndorff are cool?), and they'll do it one by one. He says this whole thing is for Andre to get back at him, but he's a survivor, and they will meet again, and he will survive.

SURVIVOR SERIES: NOVEMBER 26TH!

Match #2: The New Dream Team w/ Johnny V vs. SD Jones/Rick Gantner
Greg tried, but they only got 90 seconds and Dino was in too much. Poor Greg Valentine. Greg gets in at the end and makes Rick tap to the Figure Four.
3/4*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Randy Savage comes on. He says this is the time that it happens. He says Elizabeth opened his eyes, and one half of the Mega Powers is gonna be tap dancing on his head. He yells, "HONKY TONK MAN, DON'T BUY ANY WINTER CLOTHES, BECAUSE I'M GONNA EAT YOUR FUTURE, YEAH!"

Match #3: Paul Orndorff w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Chris Curtis
Another average Orndorff squash. Piledriver ends it.
*1/4

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Humperdink says stuff

Match #4: The Islanders w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jim Evans/Tony Parks
Good squash, but only like 75 seconds. Double Diving Headbutt ends it.
*3/4

WWF REPORT:
-Footage airs of Savage/HTM from SNME, including the aftermath
-HTM says he proved he's the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, and dares Elizabeth to get in his way. He says he doesn't think Savage heard his tune the way it's supposed to be heard, so he'll play it one more time.

Match #5: Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Rick Renslow
Only a minute, but another awesome BBB squash. He wins with the Slingshot Splash.

Tito Santana vs. Haku, Prime Time Wrestling (October 22nd)
Both tag partners and Heenan are there. Good 7 minutes. Haku does awesome looking offense, and Tito sells well and has an awesome comeback. Both partners get involved in the ring, so it goes to a double disqualification. About what I would expect from these two in a TV match for 7 minutes.

WWF UPDATE:
-Coverage of Orndorff/Bundy from SNME

Match #2: Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan & Andre the Giant vs. Mike Richards
Solid 90 second Rude squash. Sammartino Backbreaker ends it.
*1/2

Paul Orndorff comes on the interview stage and poses, upsetting Rude.

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Honky comes on and says he's gonna teach Savage another lesson about who the greatest Intercontinental Champion is, etc.

Match #3: The British Bulldogs vs. Steve Lombardi/Jose Estrada
Hey, The Bulldogs are still around! I assumed they were gone, since they haven't been on TV in at least 2 months or so, it seems like. They deliver a great squash as usual, and the Rocket Launcher Diving Headbutt gets them the win.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Strike Force says 2 referees means the Islanders won't be able to beat them. Tito says two referees means they won't lose, because the only way The Islanders can win is by cheating. Martel says they won't be able to switch illegally, but they'll need that second referee to hold them back
-Gene also says there will be a multi-team Elimination Match at SurSer.

Match #4: Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Frankie DeFalco
Short Harley squash once again. Cradle Suplex ends it.

Match #1: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Brady Boone/Scott Casey

Boone again gets in too much offense, but it's made up for by the post-match stuff. Demolition demolishes, lots of good looking pounding and clubbing. A lot of times, it can be lazy heel offense, but they put a ton of energy into it, so it looks great when Demolition does it. Boone is beat with the Decapitation.
*3/4

AND DEMOLITION HITS A SECOND DECAPITATION! AND A THIRD, BECAUSE FUCK BRADY BOONE! His faggot cousin, Billy Jack Haynes runs out to save, but they quickly beat him down, and Haynes eats the Decapitation too! Ken Patera runs out to save his sometimes tag partner, but Ax hits him in the bad arm with Fuji's cane. He goes down and they stomp on him too, until referees come out to break it up.

WWF UPDATE:
-Recap of the Race/Duggan thing

Match #2: Danny Davis w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Sam Houston
This was not much good. About a minute. Houston wins with a Powerslam, despite Davis' leg being on the bottom rope.
1/2*

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Jimmy Hart says words

Match #3: Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. Sivi Afi
Another good DiBiase squash, but he is still looking for a finisher. Good Suplexes, punches, etc. DiBiase gets the win with a Rock-level Sharpshooter.
**

GENE INTERVIEWS:
-Gene is with Jake Roberts, and announces Savage/Jake/Steamboat/Duggan/Brutus vs. HTM/Hercules/Ron Bass/Davis/Race for SurSer
-Jake says he's not a friend of the Macho Man's, but you have to play the card you were dealt. He says Honky Tonk can't hang with their team, and Gene goes over the rules. Jake says he's never done something this fun in his life, at least not for money.

SURVIVOR SERIES: NOVEMBER 26TH!

The "Piledriver" music video debuts. AMAZING.

Craig is on the stage, and he brings out Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy Hart to discuss their Survivor Series match. Craig also mentions a women's division Elimination Match too. Oh well. Honky says he's the captain of the best team. He says Savage has nothing that worries the Honky Tonk Man, and assures people that it's going to be 5 men against Randy Savage on Turkey Day.

Match #4: 10 Man Battle Royal
This is mostly jobbers, and then some dude named The Ultimate Warrior. He gets eliminated by Orton and Herc though. Bam Bam easily wins.
*

Match #5: Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth vs. Shadow #2

Only 90 seconds, unfortunately. Savage wins with the Flying Elbow.

The British Bulldogs vs. The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart, Houston (November 6th)
The Harts no longer have the belts, but they have yet to lose them on TV, so that's weird. The WWF has usually been very very good about those kinds of continuity things, like Honky not showing up with the IC Title until after the switch aired. Anyways, this is good as usual for these two. They've been having matches for like 2.5 years now though, so there's not a lot of new stuff they can do together. Not exactly a barnburner either, as they get 9 minutes and work a midcardish match. Davey has a good hot tag and has Anvil with a Sleeper. Bret comes off the top to hit a double axe handle from behind and Anvil falls on top to win.
**1/2

Strike Force vs. The Islanders, Houston (November 6th)

Another awesome match. This really came out of nowhere to be the best in-ring series of the year. They didn't hit the highs of the Steamboat/Savage No DQ matches, but they've had now 4-5 awesome matches together, without ever hitting the low of one of the lackluster Savage/Steamboat matches. Anyways, the basic ideas are the same. Strike Force has a hot open, Haku murders Tito, great control seg, etc. But they always change enough stuff up to keep things different. Martel has his awesome hot tag again. The Islanders do their illegal switch headbutt spot when Tito gets back in, but this time, Martel sneaks in and rolls Tito out and rolls up Tama, while being illegal himself to win, in a nice reversal of previous finishes.

They're gonna stand toe to toe with them, brother, and he'll turn the big man loose. Hogan says they don't know which way Paul Orndorff will go, but he's a survivor too, brother.

SURVIVOR SERIES: NOVEMBER 26TH!

Match #4: Killer Khan w/ Mr. Fuji vs.
NOPE!

Craig is on the stage, and he brings out Team Savage. Randy says these are the people that will get done. He talks to Steamboat and says they've gone at it until they couldn't go no more, but he knows the Dragon will breath fire. He says Jake might do it for money, but he also wants a piece of the Honky Tonk Man. He says all they have to do is turn Hacksaw in the right direction with a 2x4 and set him swinging. HOOOOOOOOOO! Craig then points out Brutus, and Savage just repeats Brutus' name and leaves. AMAZING.

The "Piledriver" music video airs again.

Match #5: The Hart Foundation [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Strike Force [WWF Tag Team Championship]
THIS GOT 9 MINUTES?! HOLY SHIT! Tons of fun, but not quite great. Felt slightly held back, but they have to have house show rematches, so this was a good starting point. Tito was a great face in peril, and then Martel again has the best hot tag in the company. Martel puts on the Boston Crab, AND NEIDHART TAPS OUT! FUCK YEAH! STRIKE FORCE WINS THE TITLES!

Strike Force [c] vs. The Islanders [WWF Tag Team Championship - Two Referees Present], Boston (November 7th)
AND THIS PAIRING DELIVERS AGAIN. Same formula, but this begins the second go around of this match, so they have new cool spots and counters. The best of which is Tito ducking the Haku Superkick now, only to then get tripped by Tama to go into the control segment. Martel has his great hot tag, and yeah. They do the double illegal switch spot at the end, but this time with Tito sneaking in and getting Haku with an inside cradle to retain.

The Honky Tonk Man [c] w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Randy Savage [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Boston (November 7th)

Good stuff, but only 6 minutes. A lot like SNME, in that Savage gets most of the offense and has a lot of cool and varied stuff. They fight on the floor at the end, and Hart goes to hit Savage with the megaphone. He grabs it and threatens Hart, but it allows Honky to roll back inside at 9.5 to win by count out.

Strike Force [c] vs. The Islanders [WWF Tag Team Championship - Two Referees Present], Philadelphia (November 7th)
Holy shit, it's not even fair at this point. If you asked me in the period when I reviewed 1986, or even like a week ago before I got to this feud, what the best tag rivalries in WWF history are, my answers would be obvious. Harts vs. Rockers, Harts vs. Bulldogs, Rockers vs. Brainbusters, Edge & Christian vs. The Hardys vs. The Dudleys, Vitamin C vs. Bookdust, WGTT vs. Los Guerreros, Londrick vs. MNM. I never would have expected to put Strike Force vs. The Islanders on that list. This is their brawl match, and it is awesomely chaotic. Tito is super underrated as a brawler, as is Martel, and then it's fucking Haku in a fight, so it rules. They do the same counters from the first match on this date, and yeah. It breaks down at the end, and now the double referees catch the switch, and it breaks down into a brawl. Both refs get knocked down, so it's a double DQ.

I don't have this episode in the pack. I also lack the 12/12 episode. Otherwise, I have the rest for 1987.

11/21/87 - featured an 'Update' segment showing the ending to last week's Graham / Reed match, with the announcement that Don Muraco would be replacing Graham at the Survivor Series; included an interview with WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan, Bam Bam Bigelow, Ken Patera, Paul Orndorff, & Don Muraco regarding their match at the Survivor Series; featured Gene Okerlund conducting an interview with Andre the Giant's Survivor Series team; included comments from Ted Dibiase about the Survivor Series in which he said he only needed money to survive; featured comments from the Honkytonk Man & Jimmy Hart about Honky's match with Ricky Steamboat; included closing comments from Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine regarding their match the following week:

Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid defeated the Gladiator & Dusty Wolfe at 3:22 when Dynamite pinned Wolfe with a diving headbutt after being thrown by Smith

Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Gary Starr via submission with the backbreaker at 1:31

Jim Duggan pinned Iron Mike Sharpe at 3:03 with the running clothesline

The One Man Gang (w/ Slick) pinned Dick Flanagan at 1:31 with a splash

The Islanders (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Bill Wood & Leo Morgan at 3:39 when Tama pinned Morgan with a splash off the top

Ricky Steamboat (w/ Randy Savage, Brutus Beefcake, Jim Duggan, & Jake Roberts) fought WWF IC Champion the Honkytonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart, Danny Davis, King Harley Race, Ron Bass, & Hercules) to a double disqualification at 3:42 when all the outside participants began brawling in the ring
