Bret Hart vs. Bad News Brown, Boston (June 4th)
This was 11 minutes, so it was their tightest match together. And since there was less bullshit time killing and it still wasn't great, these two probably just aren't going to put forth a great match together. Usual technical vs. brawling story, and Brown rolls through an O'Connor Roll into one of his own with the tights to win.
**3/4

Rick Rude vs. Jake Roberts, Boston (June 4th)

This was better than their Philadelphia match. Camera work was tighter so less daylight got shown. Still not great. Another pairing that seems to have trouble really clicking, but they fight until like October, so whatever. They go to a double count out and get pulled apart.
**3/4

Strike Force/The Ultimate Warrior vs. Demolition/Mr. Fuji, Boston (June 4th)

This was a lot of fun. Not great or anything, because Warrior and Fuji, but fun. Strike Force vs. Demolition delivers again. Horribly, Warrior is the one who gets the win with a Flying Double Axe Handle to Ax, which is really strange to see from Warrior.

WWF Champion: Randy Savage, Since 3/27/1988
WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Tag Team Champions: Demolition, Since 3/27/1988

WWF Superstars
June 11th, 1988
Duluth, MN

Match #1: Jim Duggan vs. Billy Anderson

Good short Duggan squash. Three-Point Clothesline gets him the win.
*1/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al goes over Greg Valentine's new shinguard and how it adds more pressure to the Figure Four
-Greg Valentine says he's the master of the Figure Four, and this is only to protect his bad leg, and he doesn't need any help

Match #2: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. The Young Stallions
This was solid. It got about 5 minutes, and Demolition again delivers an awesome mauling. Ax is about to use the cane on one of the Stallions, but Strike Force runs out to attack them to stop it, and that means Demolition wins by DQ.
**

Strike Force runs off Demolition post-match.

EVENTS CENTER:
-SEAN MOONEY DEBUTS!
-Boston return is July 9th
-Savage vs. Ted comes to this market too, along with Jake/Rude again
-Jake Roberts says he hasn't gone soft on anyone. He says just because he smiles doesn't mean he's happy. He says when a child is born, it's fresh. It doesn't know how to cheat, lie, murder, and we teach that child what to do. He says just about every nerve in him has been severed and Rick Rude is trying to break the last one.
-Ted DiBiase says Elizabeth must be a good luck charm, because he's had Savage's number for months, but he's still WWF Champion. He says his account is overdrawn, and he's fixing to foreclose. TAKE THAT TO THE BANK!

Match #3: Koko B. Ware vs. Rick Gantner
Solid Koko squash for under 2 minutes. Koko wins with the Ghostbuster.
*1/2

EVENTS CENTER:
-Hype for some bullshit non-taped card

Match #4: Hercules w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Chris Bassett
This blew. Torture Rack ends it.
1/45*

Craig is on the stage, and he brings on Jake Roberts. Jake says everyone wants to say something, but nobody wants to say it to his face. He says anger and hatred can drive a man insane, but all they are to him are weapons. He says Rude's ego took a hit when a woman didn't jump when he snapped his fingers. He brings out his wife Cheryl and she says Rude isn't enough man for her or Jake.

Match #5: Outlaw Ron Bass vs. Louie Spicolli
Short squash. Bass wins with his proto-Pedigree in under a minute.
3/4*

Bass then hangs him with the bullwhip.

Match #6: The Rougeau Brothers/Sam Houston vs. Danny Davis/Pete Sanchez/Chris Curtis
Good Rougeaus squash, but Houston is mostly useless and brings it down. The Rougeaus beat Curtis with the Doomsday Device.
*3/4

Post-match, they hit Sanchez with it and Houston is confused.

WWF Intercontinental Champion: The Honky Tonk Man, Since 6/13/1987 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY
WWF Tag Team Champions: Demolition, Since 3/27/1988

WWF Superstars
June 18th, 1988
Oakland, CA

Match #1: The British Bulldogs vs. Barry Horowitz/Terry Gibbs

Best part of this is the Rougeaus inset promo. They say they'd love to face the British Bulldogs and with the new support from all their American fans, they know they could win. Dynamite is a shell of himself (not that he was ever an elite level guy or anything) by this point, but Davey is still good enough to guide the squashes. This is given 3 minutes, so it is a lot of fun and they hit the Rocket Launcher Headbutt for the win.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al says Rick Martel was concussed by Demolition recently
-He also shows clips of Hogan/Race from the March SNME and says Race has been put on the shelf due to surgery and has been forced to give up his throne
-Bobby Heenan says he will find a new king

Match #2: The Big Bossman w/ Slick vs. Louie Spicolli
FUCK YEAH! This ruled for the 90 seconds it got. Bossman was really violent and he wins with the Bossman Slam.
*1/2

EVENTS CENTER:
-Ted DiBiase says the pressure of being WWF Champion is getting to Randy Savage. He asks how Macho Randy feels now that he has to keep fighting the Million Dollar Man.
-Jimmy Hart and Greg Valentine say that 1988 will be his banner year. Greg says this will be the Rock vs. The Hammer, and he'll break the rock in two when the hammer comes crashing down.

Bret Hart comes out for a squash, and tries to send Jimmy Hart to the back. He refuses, so Jim Neidhart comes out and tells Jimmy to leave. He is mad and leaves, and Jim Neidhart stays at ringside.

Match #3: Bret Hart w/ Jim Neidhart vs. Jerry Allen
Another short 90 second squash. Bret continues to be good but not quite great as a singles guy and he wins with a Piledriver.
*1/2

EVENTS CENTER:
-Now hype for an MSG card
-The Bolsheviks say words about the Bulldogs
-The Bulldogs cut somehow a less comprehensible promo than the two Russians and Slick

Match #4: Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Tom Stone
Bammer finally gets 2 minutes to show off! I had thought he was gone by now, but I guess we get a few more matches? Either way, it ruled, and BBB wins with the Slingshot Splash.
**

Craig brings Rick Rude and Bobby Heenan onto the stage, and they give a local wench the opportunity to make out with Rick Rude.

Match #5: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Ricky Ataki
This is also only 90 seconds, so it ends Greg's streak of great squashes. Still really good, and Valentine dishes out some great blows. Greg wins with the Figure Four.
*3/4

Greg refuses to let go, so Don Muraco and Superstar Billy Graham come out to make him break it. Greg lets go, and Muraco chases them to the back. He focuses on Jimmy though, so Valentine sneaks down and VALENTINE PUTS BILLY GRAHAM IN THE FIGURE FOUR! AWESOME! FUCK YEAH GREG VALENTINE, BREAK HIS FUCKING LEG! He eventually lets go and Graham is stretchered out.

Match #6: The Rockers vs. The Intruder/Iron Mike Sharpe
FUCK YEAH! THIS EPISODE SCORES WITH TWO AWESOME DEBUTS! They get 3 minutes and have lots and lots of really cool looking spots and double teams. Shawn throws Marty onto Sharpe with a Hip Toss for the win.

The Honky Tonk Man [c] w/ Peggy Sue vs. Brutus Beefcake [WWF Intercontinental Championship], Philadelphia (June 18th)
Nice of HTM to remember to defend the title for the first time in two and a half months on the one year anniversary (almost) of his winning the belt. This is an example. Somehow worse than Mania, since Brutus tries even less on a house show. So this doesn't even get any points. Really lazy and terrible. Thank god for Brutus (wat), because if not for him, I'd still think HTM was an improving wrestler after the series with Randy Savage. But nope, just a huge carryjob there. Anyways, stuff happens. Peggy passes HTM brass knucks and he counters a Back Suplex from the apron with a punch with them for the win. Horrible.
3/4*

Brutus no sells it to run them off and he takes off the wig to reveal Peggy Sue as Jimmy Hart.

Andre the Giant vs. Jim Duggan, Philadelphia (June 18th)
I figured I should find at least one match in this feud. This was about 7 minutes long and 4-5 minutes of stalling, so this was in no way good. But Andre doing the best stalling of anyone on the roster was fucking awesome. Yelling at fans and announcers in broken English and arguing with the ref about Duggan marching around like an idiot. Then they do 2 minutes of shit and Andre hits a horrible boot in the corner and pins with his feet on the ropes to win. Not good at all, but so entertaining.

WWF Tag Team Champions: Demolition, Since 3/27/1988

WWF Superstars
June 25th, 1988
Oakland, CA

Match #1: Jake Roberts vs. Jose Luis Rivera

JOSE! YEAH! Jake was good here, and they got 3 minutes to do stuff. DDT ends it.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-They re-air the Valentine stuff from last week
-Billy Graham has been advised to stop being a manager by doctors, further proving how great Greg Valentine is.

Match #2: One Man Gang w/ Slick vs. Rip Oliver
Another only 90 second long OMG squash. Still awesome. Gourdbuster gives him the win.
*3/4

Match #3: The Ultimate Warrior vs. Larry Simpson

This gets 3 minutes so Warrior gets to show off. In theory. He shows a whole lot of nothing, as expected. Warrior wins with the Slam and Splash. Too long for Warrior.
*

EVENTS CENTER:
-Randy Savage says the eyes of Macho Madness are on Ted now, and he's not letting him out, and he's keeping the belt. DIG IT?!

Match #4: Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. Lanny Poffo
Lanny had solid jobber offense, and this is the type of squash Ted is best at. He gives a little offense and shows off his killer bumping, and then shuts it down. Ted wins with the Million Dollar Dream.
**

EVENTS CENTER:
-Greg Valentine brags about what he did. He says he's gonna have his chance to break the Rock with the Hammer, and he'll break his leg too
-Don Muraco says Greg Valentine took a friend away from him. He says Greg Valentine doesn't have any friends and he doesn't understand it, and says Greg disrespected his friend. Don Muraco as a babyface is so fucking unnatural.
-The Bulldogs fail at English. Davey Boy says he'll make it real real quick and then says it should only take them 20-30 minutes.

Match #5: Koko B. Ware vs. Steve Lombardi
This gets 3 minutes?! It was awesome though. Koko is having a much better year than I would have expected, since he's now getting somewhat of a push. He wins with the Ghostbuster.
**

Craig is on the stage, and he brings on The Heenan Family of Bobby Heenan, Andre the Giant, Rick Rude, and Hercules. Bobby has the crown with him. He blames Hulk Hogan for forcing his King out of action and forcing him to abdicate the throne and the crown. He says he wants to do King Harley Race the honor of holding a 10 bell salute. They do it, and Bobby says there will be a new King soon.

Match #6: The Rockers vs. Barry Horowitz/Mark Ming
This was also great, but shorter. They didn't get to do as much and it was just some babyface stuff. Cool finish though, as Shawn Suplexes Marty onto Ming for the win.
*3/4

Match #7: Bad News Brown vs. Tony Leone

BNB gets 3 minutes, so he gets to beat down Tony for a while. He wins with the Ghetto Blaster.
*3/4

Andre the Giant vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, MSG (June 25th)
This was shockingly awesome. Not great or classic or anything, but better than you'd expect for late 80s Andre. I'm actually loving heel Andre. Reminds me a lot of late Misawa, where he clearly gets that he can't physically go hard anymore and focuses solely on what he can do well and adds a lot of psychology to the proceedings to cover for himself. Andre was on his game and had some really painful looking offense, putting a ton of weight behind stuff. Bam Bam bumped around like a lunatic for someone his size too, and probably helped a lot making Andre's stuff work. Bam Bam proves to be good enough to withstand the onslaught, but Andre is smarter and avoids a corner splash. He then hits an elbow drop to win.
**1/4

Jim Duggan vs. One Man Gang w/ Slick, MSG (June 25th)

This wasn't bad! OMG works the fucking arm, and Duggan sells?! I guess working with OMG again gave Duggan some Mid-South flashbacks, so he tried real hard and had an actual wrestling match and not just his WWF stuff. Same thing happened when he fought Ted in 1987, so maybe there's something. Shame that Butch Reed is gone, because that might have also ruled. OMG had some good arm work and forearms to the head too. Unfortunately, Duggan wins with the Three-Point Clothesline.
**1/4

As the cage is set up, Fink announces shit for the next MSG show on 7/25:
-THE ROCKERS VS. THE ROUGEAU BROTHERS HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY FUCK
-The Powers of Pain making their debut vs. Bolsheviks
-Greg Valentine vs. Don Muraco
-Demolition vs. Bulldogs for the Tag Titles
-Andre vs. Duggan in a Lumberjack Match

Randy Savage [c] vs. Ted DiBiase [WWF Championship - Steel Cage Match], MSG (June 25th)
Elizabeth and Virgil are on the floor. This is easily their best match yet. Huge awesome slugfest to begin, before the cage comes into use. Savage takes lots of nasty bumps into the cage and off the ropes, and this is the first modern WWE cage match in many ways because of the bumps off the cage. Stuff like Tito/Greg and the six man were more about the fight to get out, not getting caught climbing. The cage is meant to keep Virgil out, so his constant interference through the cage is great at getting the crowd pissed off. Tons of really great little touches like Savage dropping down when Ted tries to ram him into the cage so that Ted goes flying in, or Ted punching Randy's knees from behind when he's on the top trying to get over. It turns back into an awesome slugfest at the end, and they both climb up. Virgil climbs to stop Randy, and Randy hits them with a noggin knocker, and he climbs out to win.

July 2nd, 1988
Oakland, CA

Match #1: Jim Duggan vs. Tom Stone

This happens again. Duggan wins with the clothesline.
*

WWF UPDATE:
-Lord Al recaps the vacancy on the throne again
-Bobby Heenan says he will crown a new King next week

Match #2: George Steele vs. The Intruder
What the fuck? This isn't fucking 1985, why is he still getting squash work? This was only a minute, but still. Flying Hammerlock ends it.
1/2*

Match #3: Dino Bravo w/ Frenchy Martin vs. Bill Johnson

This sucked yet again. Pretty shitty episode so far. Sidewalk Slam wins the match for Dino.
3/4*

EVENTS CENTER:
-Ted DiBiase asks how macho Randy feels now, knowing that he can't beat him. He says he's been robbed of the title for the last six months, and it's a conspiracy. He says he'll embarrass him in front of Elizabeth, and he's taking the belt home.
-Don Muraco says Greg Valentine won't make a place for himself at his expense and at Superstar's expense. He then blows Graham.

Match #4: The Hart Foundation vs. SD Jones/Brady Boone
This goes on for 4 minutes, which is weird and cripples it because it means too much jobber offense. Still, it's nice to see the Foundation back doing squashes again. Jimmy Hart does an inset promo and says even if they don't want him at ringside, he still legally owns their contracts. Boone gets beaten with the Hart Attack.
*3/4

EVENTS CENTER:
-Randy Savage says everyone wants to jump into the fire of Macho Madness, and he's steaming hot. He says you can see the smoke out his ears and the eyes of the Madness, yeah. He says he's the iron man of the WWF, and dares someone to step up on July 10th at the Meadowlands
-Not taped, so fuck that

Match #5: Don Muraco vs. Darryl Nichols
90 second Muraco squash, so this happens. He wins with the Tombstone.
*1/4

Craig brings Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy Hart onto the stage. They insist that he is the greatest IC Champion of all time. Honky says there's a conspiracy against the Honky Tonk Man, and he doesn't know where it starts, be it on TV or with Jack Tunney. Craig asks why anyone would conspire against him. Honky says they've tried to bar Jimmy Hart from the buildings, and the same with his girl Peggy Sue, and against all odds, he's still the champion and still the greatest. He says they'll never take his music away, and he knows what his fans want. He then wants to sing, but Jimmy says his throat is hurt, and they leave.

Match #6: The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Killer Bees
Good carryjob from the Rougeaus. They get 6 minutes and have some good face/face stuff. The Bees actually break out some cool stuff for the first time in the 3 goddamned years they've worked here. The Rougeaus gradually get more heelish and aggressive. Brunzell sets up Jacques for a Running Powerslam, but Raymond hits a Flying Forearm off the top to the back of Brunzell, and Jacques falls on top to win.
**1/4

Match #7: Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jose Luis Rivera

Vince and Heenan talk about how they expect Rude to be the next King. This gets two and a half minutes, so Rude gets to show off a lot. He wins with the Rude Awakening.
**

Rude makes out with a fan post-match.

This is one of the few episodes in the pack that didn't finish downloading when I went home a few weekends ago. This fucking sucks, because the angles on this episode both look outstanding.

7/9/88 - featured the coronation of King Haku by Bobby Heenan, replacing Harley Race as the king after he sustained an injury against Hulk Hogan on 3/7/88, with all the heels on the roster present for the coronation; included Craig DeGeorge conducting an interview with WWF World Champion Randy Savage & Miss Elizabeth, which was interrupted by Andre the Giant & Bobby Heenan, with Andre distracting Savage long enough for Ted Dibiase to sneak up and attack Savage from behind as Virgil held Elzabeth and forced her to watch as Savage was triple teamed by Dibiase, Andre, & Heenan:

Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid defeated Dusty Wolfe & Gino Carabello at 1:20 when Dynamite pinned Carabello with a diving headbutt after being thrown by Smith

The Big Bossman (w/ Slick) pinned Mario Mancini at 1:11 with the sidewalk slam; after the bout, Bossman handcuffed Mancini to the middle rope and beat him with the nightstick

The Junkyard Dog pinned Len Kruger at 2:08 with the powerslam

Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Omar Atlas via submission with the shinguard-assisted figure-4

Nikolai Volkoff & Boris Zhukov (w/ Slick) defeated Rusty Riddle & Scott Colontonio at 2:59 when Volkoff pinned Riddle after Volkoff jumped from the middle rope, stomping Riddle in the face with both feet as Zhukov held the opponent

Brutus Beefcake defeated Tommy Angel via submission with the sleeper at 2:15; during the bout, Craig DeGeorge was shown, saying there was no update on Randy Savage's health following the attack earlier in the show

Randy Savage [c] vs. Ted DiBiase [WWF Championship], Boston (July 9th)
As per usual, Liz and Virgil are on the floor. This is almost exactly like the first MSG match, which makes sense, since it appears that they're bringing the three match series to Boston. Awesome bumping from both guys, and then Virgil attacks Savage for the DQ after Savage has the match won with the Flying Elbow, to set up a rematch.

Demolition [c] w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Strike Force [WWF Tag Team Championship], Prime Time Wrestling (July 11th)
Unfortunately, this is the last match in the series. It's their usual great formula, with Strike Force being perfect babyfaces trying to contain Demolition, and it fails, because the story so far is that you can't contain Demolition and the only way to survive then logically seems to be taking the fight to them. Strike Force throws themselves more at Demolition here, and it gets them their most offense out of any of the matches yet. Martel has a really great hot tag, and shit breaks down. Ax just KILLS Martel with a chair shot to the head on the floor, AND THEN THEY HIT THE DECAPITATION OFF THE APRON TO THE FLOOR HOLY SHIT! Martel is dead and is counted out.

Martel gets stretchered out post-match. Strike Force :(

FUCK YEAH THE BARBARIAN! Meh, Warlord. This was a great power squash though, they just fucking killed everyone. Slick is seen watching from the entrance, and Mr. Fuji is seen watching in the crowd too. Warlord hits a Running Powerslam, and Barbarian hits a Leaping Headbutt for the win.
**

WWF UPDATE:
-The attack on Savage from last week is shown. Virgil holds Elizabeth as Andre and Ted beat down Savage brutally, and Ted shoves money down Savage's throat after Andre chokes Savage out
-Lord Al says Savage has challenged Ted and Andre to fight he and a partner of his choosing in a tag team match

SUMMERSLAM 88: AUGUST 29TH!

Match #2: Dino Bravo w/ Frenchy Martin vs. Tony Parks
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
1/2*

Match #3: The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers vs. Chris Duffy/Scott Colantonio

The Rougeaus get 3 minutes, and get to really show off all their cool shit as a result. The Rougeaus win with the Flying Dick Attack on Scott.
**

They hit Duffy with it too, just because.

EVENTS CENTER:
-Boston return is August 3rd
-There will be a Savage/Ted rematch, along with, goddamnit, HTM/Brutus
-Brutus says words and introduces his new girl to counter Peggy Sue, Georgia. It's George Steel in drag.
-Ted DiBiase says they escaped with the title again. He says he paid off the Brain and the Giant last week to get his revenge, and says he got hit from behind at WrestleMania IV, and now Savage belongs to him!

Match #4: Jake Roberts vs. Bob Emery
Jake's wife is in the crowd watching. Jake does a lot of stuff, and wins with the DDT.
*1/2

EVENTS CENTER:
-Now hype for the MSG card
-Demolition and Fuji talk. Fuji says to look at his big men, and Smash says the Bulldogs won't even get a chance. Ax says their manager could eat their alive, and grown men asking a dog for advice is pretty sick.
-Bobby Heenan asks who could ever throw Andre the Giant back into the ring in a lumberjack match

Match #5: Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil, Andre the Giant, & Bobby Heenan vs. Larry Stevens
Good, not great, Ted squash. Less angry stuff like after Mania, and more general offense. Ted wins with the Million Dollar Dream.
*1/2

Craig brings Don Muraco on the stage for an interview, and he repeats what he's said about Graham over the last few weeks.

Match #6: Bad News Brown vs. Carmine Surace
This is only a minute, so it's not great or anything. He wins with the Ghetto Blaster.
*

Match #7: The Rockers vs. Steve Lombardi/Terry Gibbs

They got 3 minutes again, so Shawn and Marty got to break out tons of cool stuff and double teams. Shawn beats Lombardi with a Flying Crossbody.

Tito Santana vs. Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart, Prime Time Wrestling (July 18th)
HOLY SHIT, WHAT?! To the shock of nobody who knows anything, this ruled, as you'd expect from possibly the best pairing of the decade. Tito has a ton of fire, and is pissed off after Martel's injury. Valentine is Valentine. Eternally solid in the ring. This is only 8 minutes, so it's hardly as great as some of their 84/85 IC Title stuff, but it's still a pleasure. They have some awesome chop and punch exchanges. Valentine works the leg, and Tito's selling is fantastic as usual. Greg goes for the shinguard assisted Figure Four, but Muraco runs out to attack him for the DQ.

Match #1: The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Reno Riggins

The usual HTM squash. Shake, Rattle, and Roll gives him the win.
*

WWF UPDATE:
-The Bolsheviks want to fight the Powers of Pain, because only communists would be evil enough to want that match

Match #2: The Ultimate Warrior vs. Bob Emery
This is short, thankfully. Warrior wins with a Stinger Splash in the corner and then the Splash on the mat.
*

Craig brings out Ted DiBiase, Andre, Heenan, and Virgil to the stage. He goes over the challenge from Randy Savage, and Heenan says he he's had meetings with Jack Tunney lately, and he's asked for a concession that needs to be asked for. he says if Randy wants to scrape up some partner, that's fine. He says this challenge is fine too, but under one condition and one condition only will it happen, and that's if they get a referee that isn't some sissy or has the backbone, unlike some Hebner or Joey Marella. He says they have their referee for the match, and it's JESSE VENTURA!

SUMMERSLAM: AUGUST 29TH!

A replay airs of Demolition injuring Rick Martel.

Match #3: Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Jobbers
They don't even get names. This is an awesome squash as usual from Demolition. They win with the Decapitation.
**

Match #4: Jim Duggan vs. Iron Mike Sharpe

This was a Duggan squash.
*1/4

EVENTS CENTER:
-Outlaw Ron Bass says stuff
-Heenan says maybe Duggan has been hitting himself with the board if he wants Andre in a Lumberjack Match. He says they can put 300 guys around the ring if they want and they won't stop Andre from leaving if he wants to.

Match #5: Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Joe Milano
Only 90 seconds again, but Rude looks good. Rude Awakening ends it.
*1/2

Rude kisses a local post-match.

Match #6: The Hart Foundation vs. Scott Casey/Lanny Poffo
The Harts are getting tons of cheers now. This was pretty great, since they got 3 minutes to show off. They win with the Hart Attack.
**

Match #7: Haku w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Jerry Allen

Haku gets time to be really nasty and violent, so obviously this was a great squash. Tons of headbutts and he wins with a Superkick.

Randy Savage [c] vs. Ted DiBiase [WWF Championship], Philadelphia (July 23rd)
FUCK YEAH THIS MATCH AGAIN! They do great stuff together, as usual. Ted takes most of the huge bumps this time, and then yeah, they have their usual match. They have a great finishing run and they break out a new finish now. Virgil stalks Elizabeth up the ramp, so Savage goes after him. He beats up Virgil, and it allows Savage to be counted out.
***

Savage goes back after Ted in the ring, but Virgil saves. They beat him down in a 2 on 1, and then Elizabeth comes in to try and stop them, and Ted shoves her down.

The Rockers vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, MSG (July 25th)
SO FUCKING GOOD! This is clipped from 15 to 10 minutes by a commercial break, but they have a ton more matches, so whatever. The Rougeaus continue to be awesome as fake babyfaces, and all the matwork and basic opening stuff is super super fast and quick. Shawn is a great face in peril again, and I have missed The Rockers. Marty has a great hot tag too, and Shawn gets back in. They clean house and Shawn goes up top, but Jacques shoves him off the top to the mat, and Raymond covers for the win.
***

The Bulldogs come in and run off the Rougeaus.

Demolition [c] w/ Mr. Fuji vs. The British Bulldogs [WWF Tag Team Championship], MSG (July 25th)
This gets 20 minutes, which is SUPER long for a WWF 80s match. It's also very different than the Strike Force matches, as they have a team with more power, so they can't bully them early on. They seem to have the power necessary to contain Demolition, and Demolition actually has to take a breather at a point. Demos take over with clubbering and in a rarity for pre 2000s WWF tags, there's a double heat segment. Demolition seems to be getting winded at this point, like 10-15 minutes in, and the Bulldogs get more energetic, and it now comes off like they planned it all along. Great final hot tag from Dynamite, and a ref bump happens. The Rougeaus come out and one of them hits DK with the cane of Fuji and Smash covers to win. Really abrupt and shitty finish when the match was laid out and thought out as well as it was.

Match #1: The Iron Sheik w/ Slick vs. Scott Casey

WAIT, WHAT?! SHEIKY BABY! He is now insane and fat and the Sheik we love, but that means this sucks. :( He wins with the Camel Clutch and makes him humble.
1/2*

Craig brings Randy Savage and Elizabeth out onto the stage. Randy says the last time he was on this platform, he was attacked from behind and he was set up by DiBiase's money. AIRBORNE, YEAH! He says that won't happen this time, and he says he's got somebody watching his back. Somebody he can trust, somebody in this building, and it's his tag team partner. AND HULK HOGAN COMES OUT AND ONTO THE STAGE! Hogan says he knows where Macho is because he's been there, and his mistake was that when he's the WWF Champion, they're trying to tap his phones, brother. Hogan says they fight for the same people, including Miss Elizabeth. He says she is now their manager, man, and they fight for their manager's honor. Wait, what? You can't just do that. Hogan, you fucking prick. They then do the Megapowers handshake. Savage says he's got one question for him, and says at SummerSlam, what happens when DiBiase and Andre go down, and all forms of transportation in New York come to a complete stop. Hogan says that's okay, because they've given fair warning. Hogan says he has to clear up one final point and says Elizabeth is their manager and she's his lady too. WHOA, WHAT THE FUCK?

Match #2: Brutus Beefcake vs. Tim Dixon
Nah.

Match #3: Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Unnamed Jobber
Greg gets 3 minutes to beat up whoever this is, and it's awesome. Big elbows, chops, etc. Figure Four ends it.
**

Match #4: Bad News Brown vs. Frankie DeFalco

This gets time too! Brown isn't the best or anything, but he has some fun moments. He wins with the Ghetto Blaster.
*1/2

EVENTS CENTER:
-Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant stand by. Ted says to excuse them for not shaking in their boots at Hulk Hogan's return, since he's been nursing his wounds since he lost the WWF Title and Andre beat him. Andre asks how many more times he has to beat Hulk Hogan before he gives up, and Ted says this is the Mega Bucks vs. The Megapowers, and he has the most expensive insurance policy in the world.

Match #5: The Rockers vs. Rick Gantner/Pete Sanchez
About 2 minutes once again, and the Rockers get to show off a lot of their awesome double teams. Shawn and Marty hit a Double Fistdrop off the top to win.
*3/4

WWF UPDATE:
-Gene now announces matches for SummerSlam
-Demolition vs. The Hart Foundation for the Tag Titles!
-The Foundation stands by. Neidhart says he can smash too, and Bret says they want their belts back.
-HTM vs. Brutus for the IC Title! GROSS! Gene says this will be the final match between them for the belt
-Powers of Pain vs. The Bolsheviks! ALSO GROSS!
-Jake vs. Hercules!
-Rude vs. JYD!
-Muraco vs. Bravo EW
-Patera vs. Bad News Brown
-Koko vs. Bossman
-Bulldogs vs. The Rougeaus

Match #6: The Big Bossman w/ Slick vs. Chris Goodman
This is only a minute, but Bossman ruled. He wins with the Bossman Slam.
*1/4

Bossman handcuffs the jobber to the ropes and hits him with the nightstick.

Curt Hennig vs. Terry Taylor, WrestleFest 88 (July 31st)
I'd like to do this whole show, since it's a lot like The Big Event, but since WWE has done a GIGANTIC sweep of rare youtube stuff and dailymotion is the worst, that's not possible. But there's some stuff still up. This is 5 minutes, but it's a ton of fun for being so basic. Terry is a great low key babyface, and this is before the Red Rooster killed him off forever. Hennig continues to be a lunatic bump freak. The best is him BUMPING ALL THE WAY UP TO HIS FEET FROM A SHOULDERBLOCK AND THEN SEAMLESSLY GETTING TAKEN BACK DOWN INTO A HEADLOCK. Real abrupt finish as Hennig gets a Running Forearm for the win.

The Hart Foundation vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, Boston (August 6th)
Jesus, and I thought the 1987 tag division was stacked. This has all the same guys, except now the Rougeaus and Harts are in positions in which they're better. Plus, Demolition has stepped up their game huge, and The Rockers have replaced Strike Force. I love me some Strike Force, but The Rockers are a G.O.A.T. level pure babyface team. Anyways, this gets 10-15 minutes. They get to do cool matwork with Bret and the Rougeaus, Anvil has awesome power spots, etc. This was kind of a basic first half of the show match, which scarily means they're actually capable of even better matches. Bret has an awesome hot tag, He gets Raymond in a Sleeper, but Jacques hits him from behind with a Flying Double Axehandle, and Ray falls back on top for the win!

The Honky Tonk Man [c] w/ Peggy Sue vs. Brutus Beefcake [WWF Intercontinental Championship - Jimmy Hart Banned From Ringside], Boston (August 6th)

This sucked again. It is literally the exact same match they had on the last house show where one of their matches turned up online. Obviously, Peggy Sue is Jimmy Hart in drag. Brutus ends up getting the Sleeper on, but Honky hits him with Hart's megaphone to win.
3/4*

Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji vs. The British Bulldogs, Boston (August 6th)

Non-title this time. Not as great as MSG, since it's under 10 minutes instead of 20. As a result, Demolition is finally forced into the stupid WWF Heel in Peril formula. I think I've loved them so much because they refuse to play along with that stupid bullshit. Probably the reason I loved Strike Force and why I think the Bulldogs are super overrated now. Anyways, this isn't great as a result. They do stuff, and then Ax sneaks in a Northern Lariat on Dynamite and Smash covers to win.

Randy Savage [c] vs. Ted DiBiase [WWF Championship], Boston (August 6th)

Continuing the theme of the last match, this was really short and also super disappointing, given that they've had like 5-6 *** matches in a row by now. They only get 6 minutes, and it's still full of cool stuff, but it's so so so so truncated and mashed together. Savage sends Ted into the post on the floor and slides in to win by count out. Shitty finish too compared to their matches since Mania IV.
