A video tribute to the Sandman & Woman alliance airs with opera music fading into "Enter Sandman". Another awesome ECW music video. Four months in, this is the one thing ECW does better than any promotion ever. Their videos aren't on par with the better WWE videos ever ("My Way", "Control", Orton/Cena Iron Man, "Lonely Road of Faith"), but they're better than most and the use of actual current music helps a lot.

The press conference stuff is aired again.

Eddie/Malenko is shown in full, so that kills the rest of the show.

Show ends with another awesome music video, of Raven vs. Dreamer and set to "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

In the back, Cactus Jack and the Triple Threat argue about Cactus getting the title shot tonight. Sandman comes over for a cheap shot, and Shane shoves Jack down and hits Sandman. Jack gets up and hits Shane in revenge, and they get pulled apart.

A music video airs to hype up Cactus Jack for tonight's shot, obviously set to "Born to be Wild".

Clips air of an ECW party at a bar in Florida to celebrate something, where Stevie Richards is dancing horribly.

ECW ENTER THE SANDMAN - 5/13/95:
-CACTUS JACK VS. THE SANDMAN FOR THE ECW TITLE
-THE WINNER FACES DOUGLAS FOR THE TITLE LATER ON
-PUBLIC ENEMY VS. THE PITBULLS FOR THE TITLES IN A DOUBLE DOG COLLAR MATCH. IF PE WINS, THEY GET 5 MINUTES WITH STEVIE RICHARDS
-EDDIE/MALENKO II FOR THE TV TITLE
-RAVEN/STEVIE VS. TOMMY/WHIPWRECK

Match #1: Chris Benoit/Dean Malenko vs. Norman Smiley/Mikey Whipwreck
This happened on May 5th. Good tag squash. Mikey gets a brief run of offense at the end to put over that he's at least a level above Norman, but is not there yet. Then Norman really gets going right at the end, before Dean turns over an O'Connor Roll and Benoit grabs the tights to win.
**1/4

Highlights of Dean/Eddie I air to hype the rematch this weekend.

Back at the party, Tommy Dreamer is standing around drinking and talking to someone, AND RAVEN RUNS ON AND ATTACKS HIM! YEAH! They have a really fucking brutal pull-apart brawl. The followrs hold Raven back and Cactus and Mikey try to get Tommy away before it cuts out.

Another overly long Public Enemy segment.

Match #2: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Cactus Jack [ECW World Heavyweight Championship]
Also from May 5th. Another good brawl between them, but not great. Feels kind of like what I imagine a ECW style house show hardcore match to feel like. They have some cool stuff and they're not dogging it by any means, but they are clearly holding back. Woman hits the ref with a cane to save the title, and Benoit and Malenko run out to attack both men, and that ends the match.
**1/4

After some more ads, Benoit and Malenko are in the locker room. Cactus Jack runs after them and punches Benoit, but the locker room holds them apart.

ECW Enter The Sandman
May 13th, 1995
Philadelphia, PA

Match #1: Hack Myers vs. Tony Stetson

FUCK YOU STETSON. This happens for around 5 minutes. It's better than a long Hack Myers match, but it's still whatever. Hack wins with his weird Proto-Flying Pedigree thing.
*

Match #2: Taz/911 w/ Paul E. Dangerously vs. The Oriental Connection

Never heard of either of these slant eyed faggots apart from Genjin from last month. This is a squash for Taz and 911, and that's solid enough. They get in far too much offense on Taz before 911 murders them both with like 3-4 Chokeslams a piece, and Taz pins one of them to win. Highlight was a Double Saito Suplex from Taz.
*1/4

Joey Styles is at ringside, and he brings out Axl Rotten. He says a lot of people say the fans of Florida are better than the fans in Philadelphia, and what he has to say to that is that the people of Florida can suck his ass. He asks Philly if they're tired of his barbed wire bat, and they foolishly chant "no" and he calls the Florida fans a bunch of faggots. He then yells FUCK YOU FLORIDA. Ian comes out to attack him. :(

Match #3: Axl Rotten vs. Ian Rotten [Barbed Wire Weapons Match]
The extra wire adds a little bit to this, but it's the same shtick. Slightly better than usual for whatever reason. Perhaps because it was more concise than any since the initial Barbed Wire Bat match, I'm not sure. Axl Piledrives Ian onto the barbed wire chair for the win. I'd complain that Ian's only won one match, but fuck Ian Rotten.
**

Raven, Stevie, and Beulah come out for the tag match, but before that, Shane Douglas comes out. He gets on the mic and says it was inevitable that somebody like The Sandman took the title, because the fans themselves degraded wrestling boots and straight punches, long before the company did, by accepting, nay, DEMANDING, steel chairs and baseball bats in their place, and that's not what wrestling is about. He says Woman did screw him, but in the week before that, he was smart enough to have her call the state capitol and demand a proper official to call the action in ECW and to enforce the rules. HE BRINGS OUT THE TROUBLESHOOTING REFEREE, BILL ALFONSO! YEAH DADDY! Fonzie says he's here to enforce the rules and nobody is exempt from being disqualified when Bill Alfonso is on the job. Tod Gordon comes out and says he doesn't work here, but Alfonso says the state athletic commission appointed him. Gordon says he'll see about that, and Shane and Gordon leave.

Match #4: Tommy Dreamer/Mikey Whipwreck vs. Raven/Stevie Richards w/ Beulah McGillicutty
I loved this. It's a sacrificed match for the sake of getting Alfonso over. You can argue that they could have done it in a lesser match, but he wouldn't have gotten the immediate heat in a lesser match that he did at the end of this. As a match without that, it's good basic stuff to build a singles match. Raven avoids Tommy aided by Alfonso enforcing rules and a lot of circumstance, less him outright running, and that gets more heat than anything else in 1995 that a heel's done. Amazing. Mikey gets isolated and Raven really goes to town on him. It breaks down into a brawl, and Raven and Tommy hit DDTs on Mikey and Stevie on the floor at the same time. AND THEY GET IN AND FINALLY FACE OFF! TOMMY GETS THE BEST OF A PUNCH-OFF, BUT ALFONSO DQ'S HIM! AWESOME.
**1/2

Alfonso gets caught by Tommy and referees come out to stop Tommy from killing him. Shane Douglas comes back out and dares him to hit a representative of the state athletic commission, and says ECW will be shut down before the end of the show. Cactus Jack comes out and tells Shane to stop this, and if he wants out of ECW so badly, he should just sign the contract already and go to the WWF like he's been talking about. Shane says something, but Joey talks over it. Goddamnit, Joey. Doesn't help that the mic levels aren't great. They start shoving each other and what not. This should be great, this could be great, but they failed to lay the right groundwork and they're jumping into so many things between Shane/Jack, Shane/Sandman, Jack/Sandman, the weird sort of babyface Shane turn in March that's been totally forgotten, etc. Sandman's promo about a two front war was appropriate. Also, they didn't need to take the heat off of Raven for again avoiding Tommy and put it on the Shane/Cactus feud.

Match #5: Eddie Guerrero [c] vs. Dean Malenko [ECW Television Championship]
Eddie is weirdly wearing his Black Tiger gear, just with no mask. Joey has a special guest commentator for the match, FINALLY, in amateur champion Peter Senerchia. That's Taz. So why not just...okay, whatever. At least somebody else is finally there with Joey. Shouldn't be a shock that this was great. They started with the same idea from April, with Dean trying for the legs. Eddie was ready though, so it didn't work. When that failed, Dean immediately went for big offense so the time limit wouldn't even come close. The middle is the big moooovez-y portion of the match, before Dean can finally get a gameplan working and he beats up Eddie's back. Quality work on the back, which again shouldn't be any kind of shock. AND WHAT THE FUCK, THERE'S CLIPPING HERE?! FUCK YOU. The end comes when Eddie gets a Figure Four on, and the time limit expires. HEY FUCK YOU, YOU ONLY SHOWED 11 MINUTES?! Match was clearly great, but can't hold up to the first match when only 1/3rd of it was shown.
***, I guess

In the back, Joey hypes up this Peter Senerchia fellow, and says you know him by another name, AND IT'S TAZ! He's in a black and orange jacket, so that's the debut of that too. A video then airs of him throwing out awesome Suplexes.

Match #6: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Cactus Jack [ECW World Heavyweight Championship]
This is their best match yet. They do their fun brawling with several insane spots thrown in. Sandman fails to jump entirely over the railing when he dives over to Cactus in the crowd from the apron, Cactus does a brutal looking Hilo over the railing, and the best is when Cactus has Sandman on a table and throws it (and him) backwards over the top to the floor. Cactus really kind of dominates, and has it won after the Cactus Elbow, but Shane Douglas runs out and puts Sandman's foot on the ropes. Cactus yells at him on the ropes in the corner, but Sandman hits a low blow with the cane and covers to win.
**3/4

Match #7: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Shane Douglas [ECW World Heavyweight Championship]

This is finally aired in full as they have a real match. This is not as good as Sandman/Jack, because Shane Douglas is not as good as Mick Foley. He does some stuff well in his control, but they just don't really connect to take it to a level above "above average". Which it was, it was hardly bad or anything. They do stuff and Sandman reverses Shane's Belly to Belly into his own. He covers and Shane gets his foot on the ropes, BUT JACK COMES OUT FROM UNDER THE RING AND PUSHES HIS FOOT OFF IN REVENGE! Alfonso comes out though and tries to have it restarted. Sandman threatens him with the cane, so Alfonso threatens to have ECW shut down again. Sandman rolls him up, AND ALFONSO DOES A SUPER FAST COUNT! WHAT?!
**1/2

He gives the belt to Shane, but the original ref gives it back to The Sandman and says the bell never rung. Sandman leaves with the title. So I guess Sandman is still champion? That didn't go as well as it should have. Cactus comes in to fight Shane Douglas, but Dean Malenko runs out and dropkicks him in the knee. He attacks his leg as Shane stands by, but Tommy Dreamer runs out to save! YEAH! Shane and Malenko leave, AND RAVEN AND STEVIE COME OUT WITH A HUGE METAL INDUSTRIAL FAN COVER AND RAVEN HITS TOMMY WITH IT! EVENFLOW ON THE FAN COVER! Raven poses over Tommy and Stevie dances. Awesome.

Match #8: Public Enemy [c] vs. The Pitbulls w/ Stevie Richards [ECW Tag Team Championship - Double Dog Collar Match - If Public Enemy Wins, They Get Five Minutes With Stevie]
15 minutes is still WAY too long for these assholes. It is better than last month though, at least. Still like 95% aimless clubbering and brawling with no story or point. Violence for the sake of violence, and unimpressive and meandering violence at that. PE gets like 90% of the match too, which is fucking bullshit when they're building up The Pitbulls and this is billed as their special match. The Pitbulls hit Rocco with the Superbomb through a table, but then Grunge hits #2 with a DDT for a double pin. The ref was somehow counting Grunge's pin, despite #1 covering Rocco first. FUCKING BULLSHIT. GOD I FUCKING HATE THE FUCKING PUBLIC ENEMY.
*1/4

The Pitbulls lay out Public Enemy before Stevie's five minutes are forced to happen, and the referee makes them leave. Stevie runs around and does cheap shots for a while, but then they inevitably recover and start to beat up Stevie. The five minutes expire as Rocco goes up top, and Raven runs out to fight them. The Pitbulls come back out and it's 3 on 2. Stevie eventually gets up too, and it's 4 on 2, like these fat fucking faggots deserve. Tommy Dreamer runs back out and throws the other three out and gets to Raven! RAVEN AND TOMMY HAVE ANOTHER AWESOME FIGHT! Stevie gets back in though and hits the Superkick on Tommy, and it becomes a 2 on 1, since The Pitbulls and PE have brawled to the back to be awful together, I guess. Tommy fights back, AND GOD DAMNIT, IT'S FUCKING LUNA. Luna brawls with Stevie, I guess. Did Mikey already leave? Dreamer gets Stevie with the DDT, and Raven bails out. Luna runs off Beulah too, AND UGH DREAMER AND LUNA MAKE OUT. SO FUCKING GROSS. At least this is now being booked as the top feud.

In the back, Joey interviews Cactus Jack and announces another Sandman/Jack ECW Title match this week, BUT WITH SHANE DOUGLAS AS THE REFEREE! Cactus says he goes back out there tonight for his title rematch, but he can't help but consider Shane Douglas a broken man. He says Shane likes to portray himself as a ladies man, and he might like the world to think he has a weakness for the women, but what he really has a weakness for is for the gold. For that symbol that says he's not a midcard wrestler, that he matters in the world. Jack says what he is now is the man between him and the title, and Shane can't stand that. Because despite what he said earlier, Shane does love something, and he loves the ECW Title like the girl, that first girl you fall in love with, but she dumped Shane, and it broke his heart. And now instead of being a good friend and rooting him on as he tries to accomplish his dream like Shane did himself a year ago, he looks at it like he's trying to nail his ex-girlfriend now that she's no longer Shane's, AND HE KNOWS THAT CACTUS JACK IS GOING TO NAIL HER BETTER THAN SHANE WOULD! He tells Shane to snap out of it and call it down the line, or he'll send him down the line on a very rocky road to Stamford. BANG BANG. Foley is God. That might be my favorite serious promo in this review yet.

THIS WEEKEND - 5/19. 5/20, 5/21:
-A BEST OF THREE SERIES FOR THE TV TITLE BETWEEN DEAN MALENKO AND EDDIE GUERRERO
-IF ONLY IT WAS FUCKING TAPED

A slightly different "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Dreamer/Raven music video airs. During the down parts in the music, promo clips from Tommy Dreamer air. He says some punk that he's known since he was 12 now won't get out of his life, and he can't get his hand raised no matter how much he beats his ass.

Match #1: Raven w/ Stevie Richards & Beulah McGillicutty vs. Tommy Dreamer
FUCK YEAH ANOTHER MATCH FROM FLORIDA! This is even better than the 4/8 match. Crazy, out of control, arena brawl, but with TONS of hate and fire and all the shit that makes a brawl great. When they got into the ring, it felt like they finally were able to pull it together for a great non-brawling section. It's short, only like 7-8 minutes, but all of it was good, so fuck it, I liked it enough. Tommy runs into a Powerslam on the chair and it JUST gets three for Raven!
***

Stevie celebrates as Beulah tends to Raven. He gets really cocky and spits in Tommy's face, which awakens Tommy. Stevie gets a DDT, and then so does the ref. Beulah gets up to slap him, AND TOMMY HITS HER AGAIN WITH THE PILEDRIVER! HE POSES, BUT RAVEN HITS HIM FROM BEHIND WITH THE CHAIR THIS TIME! EVENFLOW ON TOMMY! RAVEN POSES OVER TOMMY NOW! And then to ruin what was a great post-match segment, Tommy gets up within 15 seconds and fights back. What the fuck? Luna runs out to help him drive them off. RUINED. THEN THEY MAKE OUT. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN AGAIN?!

Match #2: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Cactus Jack [ECW World Heavyweight Championship - Special Referee: Shane Douglas]
This is more about the referee and Shane/Cactus than a good match, so that means the match is obviously not as good as it could be. This is EASILY their worst match as it's just a wrestling match with lots of Woman cheating. And hey cool whatevs, but I don't want to fucking watch Sandman wrestle. Shane finally ejects her, but then starts being really slow on Cactus' cover counts. Cactus blatantly has it won with the Double Arm DDT, but Shane goes even further with the slow counts. It doesn't work, so Shane does a super fast five count in the corner when Jack is attacking Shane, and DQs Jack!

ECW Fan Cam caught up with Tod Gordon. He says Alfonso was sent here by the athletic commission, and says this is the ECW, and there are no rules in the ECW. He tells Shane Douglas to lighten up, and he doesn't have to punish everyone else because he lost the title.

The clipped version of Dean/Eddie II is shown.

A longer Taz hype video airs.

In a pretape from the bowels of the ECW Arena, Raven cuts a promo. He says the scars Luna left on Richards' back are nothing compared to the mental ones he lives with every day because of Tommy. He says history is a pattern of timeless moments, and theirs are intertwined forever. He says it amuses him that the girlfriend of his youth now worships him, and the hideous gargoyle he was once stuck with is now stuck to him. He says to spend another night with Luna, he'd sooner be crucified. Quote the Raven, nevermore.

Sandman vs. Cactus from 5/13 airs to end the show.

ECW ARENA - 6/17/95:
-THE SANDMAN VS. CACTUS JACK FOR THE ECW TITLE IN A BARBED WIRE MATCH

In the back, Joey Styles interviews Paul Heyman. He asks why everybody in sports needs a gimmick. He asks why Charles Barkley can't just shoot a basketball, and he has to spit on fans and be Sir Charles. He asks why Dennis Rodman can't just be a great player but has to dump Kool Aid in his hair and slam dunk Madonna. He says Taz doesn't need a larger than life gimmick or personality to reach the top of his field, and all he needs his hands, because he is a Human Suplex Machine. He says the Tazmaniac is dead, long live Taz.

A long video airs, detailing the history between Cactus Jack and The Sandman and Shane Douglas.

In a pretape, Cactus Jack cuts a promo. He says he's talked about quite a few things. Friendship. Family. Pride. And the World Heavyweight Title. He says this Saturday night, they don't exactly apply. Because when the ropes go down and the barbed wire goes up, they get to explore a real dark side of himself. A side he's not so proud of, but a side he can't fully deny. Very deep in his heart resides a lust for blood that he can't deny, and that he won't be able to run away from. It's not just man vs. man, but it's man against fate. He says the one thing that makes him feel this good and this sick at the same time is the very wire in his hands, and he holds up a roll of it. He says he has the memory of Eddie Gilbert, and when he cut Cactus Jack open all over. He says that was the greatest night of his life, because it took away his fear. CACTUS JACK PUTS THE WIRE WREATH ON HIS HEAD AND SAYS HE'S HEARD THAT UNEASY IS THE HEAD THAT WEARS THE CROWN, AND HE'S DAMN RIGHT, BECAUSE IN THE LAND OF BARBED WIRE, HE IS KING. BANG BANG!

Another "Born To Be Wild" video to hype up Cactus Jack airs.

ALSO ON JUNE 17TH AT THE ECW ARENA:
-PUBLIC ENEMY VS. AXL ROTTEN AND ANY WRESTLER HE WANTS FOR THE TAG TITLES
-BEULAH VS. LUNA
-RAVEN/THE PITBULLS VS. 2 COLD SCORPIO/TAZ/TOMMY DREAMER
-THE RETURN OF CHRIS BENOIT LOLNOPE DOESN'T HAPPEN

PE vs. The Pitbulls from 5/13 is shown, and the post-match.

ECW Barbed Wire, Hoodies, & Chokeslams
June 17th, 1995
Philadelphia, PA

Match #1: The Broad Street Bully vs. The New Jersey Devil

...k. According to Biggie's review, this was a sports thing. The Devils eliminated the Flyers in the Stanley Cup playoffs, so this is revenge. Tony Stetson is under the mask and he punches out the Devil in 15 seconds to win.
GO BLACKHAWKS

The Devil cheap shots him after, and Paul brings out 911 to Chokeslam the Devil several times. They then lead a "LET'S GO FLYERS!" chant. Okay, whatever. At least it was short.

Match #2: Mikey Whipwreck vs. Val Puccio
Val is morbidly obese and is Mikey fodder. He is too fat to even move around. WHY IS HE HERE THEN?! Mikey kicks him in the dick three times and wins with a DDT in like 30 seconds.
0 for 2

Match #3: Hack Myers vs. Vampire Warrior

WHAT THE FUCK?! Did everyone bail to go to NJPW this weekend? This generally happens for two and a half minutes. Pretty much all punches and kicks and shitty Gangrel offense before he hits a DDT out of the corner to win. Joey says Tommy or Raven must have taught it to him, because apparently nobody else knows how to a simple goddamned move like that that's been a part of mainstream wrestling for a decade at this point.
3/4*

We static cut to Joey interviewing the Tommy & Luna couple at ringside. Stevie Richards comes out with Vampire Warrior and says he's got him and says it's a treat from Raven. He tells Joey to tell everyone why, but Joey tries to put over Vampire Warrior instead. Tommy offers a handshake, but he refuses. VW takes the mic away and says he's come back for his woman. He hits Tommy and they fight AND FUCK ALL OF LIFE, THAT'S ANOTHER GANGREL MATCH. THAT'S WHAT THIS SHOW NEEDED. This show is among the worst of all time. Has to be. All the 2005-6 CZW I could stomach was better than this so far.

Match #4: Tommy Dreamer w/ Luna Vachon vs. Vampire Warrior w/ Stevie Richards
Joey says on commentary that Luna and VW are an estranged married couple. This is 7 minutes of meandering brawling for the sake of brawling. Luna screams a lot. Ending spot was really the only decent thing here. Tommy uses a chair as a launching pad and hits a Swinging DDT through a table in the corner to win.
*

Static cut to Tod Gordon talking to the fans, and Bill Alfonso comes out. He rants about all the violations of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission's rules he's seen tonight, and they get into the worst shoving match ever. Tod tries to be tough, and is all like "I'LL GIVE YOU A FIGHT MOTHERFUCKER". Referees, Cactus Jack, and 2 Cold Scorpio come out to break it up. Fonzie bails.

Match #5: 911 w/ Paul E. Dangerously vs. Jim Steele
JUNGLE JIM STEELE! This is 30 seconds and 911 wins with the Chokeslam.
GREAT WORK SCHEDULING A SHOW WHILE EDDIE AND DEAN AND BENOIT WERE ON TOUR IN JAPAN

911 Chokeslams Steele again, and again, and fuck it. EIGHT CHOKESLAMS. Paul gets on the mic and welcomes him to E C FUCKING W.

Match #6: Luna Vachon vs. Beulah McGillicutty w/ Raven & Stevie Richards
Raven distracts the ref by refusing to leave the ring, and Stevie hits Luna in the back with a chair. Beulah covers to win. LOL.
SUP BEULAH

Raven then Evenflows Luna. Stevie gets him a chair and he immediately hits Tommy Dreamer when he tries to save. EVENFLOW ON TOMMY, AND RAVEN FUCKING BREAKS HIS FINGERS. YEAH! They handcuff Luna to the ropes on the floor like they did to Tommy in February, but he gets his head through to absorb the chair shot for her. Raven, Stevie, and Beulah figure this is good enough, and they leave.

Tommy is obviously out of the next match. SHAH tries to take his place, but Bill Alfonso says Tommy Dreamer will be in this match or it's 3 on 2.

Match #7: Raven/The Pitbulls w/ Stevie Richards & Beulah McGillicutty vs. 2 Cold Scorpio/Taz w/ Paul E. Dangerously
This is MOTN so far, although that isn't really saying anything. It's a fun match, but The Pitbulls kind of drag it down. Solid armwork from Scorp and Taz, but it's no-sold and goes nowhere. Taz/Raven is a lot of fun. Do they have a match at any point? Probably not. It's probably only their Invasion match. :( A girl at ringside has a sign supporting Stevie and is very hot. Stevie notices and Raven is mad. He slaps Stevie and takes Stevie and Beulah to the back. The Pitbulls are confused, and Taz hits #2 with a Belly to Belly Superplex to win.
**1/4

Public Enemy come out for the match against Axl Rotten. Axl comes out and says he's more hardcore than both of them and his partner is too. He runs down the matches he's had in 1995 so far, and says his partner has been through what he has, and he tries to bring out Ian Rotten as his partner. The fans even chant for Ian for some reason. Ian Rotten comes out and it takes like a minute of them just staring down before Bill Alfonso comes out to actually enforce the Pitbulls/Bad Breed stipulation. OH MY GOD THANK YOU FONZIE. WE ALMOST HAD TO FUCKING WATCH PUBLIC ENEMY VS. BAD BREED. JESUS. He leaves and Axl says the fans deserve a fight, and Ian will have to do. GREAT. SO THAT'S STILL A THING AND THEY FIGHT AWAY. FUCK SO MANY THINGS.

Those assholes Public Enemy dance, BEFORE TWO BLACK GUYS JUMP THE RAIL - AND IT'S THE GODDAMNED GANGSTAS! FUCKIN NEW JACK IS HERE TO KILL THESE PILES OF GAY! SHIT YES! They bloody up Rocco and Grunge with pipes, and they fuck up security, since they don't know not to fuck with New Jack at this point. They then hit a Rocket Launcher AND NEW JACK GETS A PRISON SHIV AND BEGINS CUTTING PUBLIC ENEMY UP EVEN MORE. DO IT. CUT THEIR THROATS. C'MON. DO IT. UGH TOD GORDON SHOWS UP WITH THE POLICE TO SAVE THEIR LIVES. The Gangstas are fucking arrested in the ring, and it's the most realistic wrestling arrest ever. They get dragged off and jobbers and other dudes help a bloody Public Enemy to the back. I notice a young Green Lantern Fan in the crowd, before the gimmick.

Match #8: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Cactus Jack [ECW World Heavyweight Championship - No Ropes Barbed Wire Match]
SHIT YEAH! I have a weakness for NRBW matches, and this was generally solid. No Corino/Homicide or anything, but it was quality work. They sell the fear of the wire to start, and move into some good shit. There's not the kind of awesome storytelling about the reactions of one or both men to the wire like in your better NRBW stuff, but the violence is of a high level. They do 10 counts, which I didn't know was a thing in NRBW matches given the high level of brutality, although this is among the first in the States, so they can kind of make it up as they go to some extent. Jack beats the count and Sandman doesn't, and they try to give Jack the belt, but Bill Alfonso comes out to say that can't happen. BRUUUUUUUUUUTAL finish as Sandman wraps JAck entirely in wire. He tries to fight and it lasts a while before Sandman loses his footing and the momentum SENDS JACK THROUGH THE LAST FULL SET OF BARBED WIRE STRANDS IN PLACE OF THE ROPES AND HE FALLS TO THE FLOOR! Fonzie calls the match at the end. Fuck that. You can't just get him in for the pin? Some bullshit. And figures it'd be on this show, where nothing goes exactly right, even if it is a rare good thing.
***1/4

This has to be a contender for the worst show of all time, and if not for the main event, I'd say it easily gets it. There's probably an early CZW/any non 2005-6 era CZW show that's worse.

For some reason, they're not just horribly ashamed of the June 17th show, and are actually showing matches from it for the next few weeks. I don't fully understand.

Joey recaps the hockey match and the Gordon/Fonzie thing before throwing it to clips of Vampire Warrior's two matches. Awful.

In the back afterwards, Raven & co. cut a promo. Raven tells Richards to get him the Pitbulls. He says tonight in ECW, you'll see Raven and his dogs of war annihilate the man once known as the Tazmaniac, and he will break the bonds of the oppression of Scorpio's ancestors. What? He says there will be no place for Tommy Dreamer to hide, and he will end his career along with the dynasty of Vachons tonight.

Luna vs. Beulah and the post-match airs.

ECW HARDCORE HEAVEN 1995 - JULY 1ST, 1995:
-SANDMAN VS. CACTUS FOR THE ECW TITLE. AGAIN.
-RAVEN/STEVIE VS. TOMMY/LUNA
-IAN VS. AXL IN THE FINAL BATTLE THANK GOD
-TAZ, SCORPIO, SHANE DOUGLAS, PE ALL ARE ALSO THERE. HALF GREAT.

Raven/Pitbulls vs. Taz/Scorpio then airs. Footage airs from after the match, where they argued after Paul congratulated Taz on his rebirth, giving him all the credit. Scorpio argued and they had words. Scorpio hit him, and Taz dropped him with an Overhead Uranage.

The PE/Bad Breed/Gangstas angle is shown.

Joey Styles goes over that The Gangstas dominated SMW, but says PE were the original hoodies in wrestling.

The show opens with a recap of the awesome Gangstas attack again.

Weirdly, they now air Tommy vs. Vampire Warrior in full, despite it coming before the events they aired last week.

In a pretape, Tommy Dreamer and Luna cut a promo. Tommy says everything Raven represents is over. He says everyone says he's going over to the dark side, but he's a regular guy in a violent world.

911 vs. Jim Steele and the amazing post-match eight Chokeslams airs.

Highlights air of Cactus/Sandman, since they can't put too much barbed wire stuff on TV.

ADDED TO HARDCORE HEAVEN:
-PE VS. THE GANGSTAS FOR THE TITLES
-IAN VS. AXL WILL NOW BE A TAIPEI DEATH MATCH

In a pretape, The Sandman talks after the NRBW match. He says for a long time, he didn't care about winning or losing. He wanted to drink his beer, smoke his cigarette, check out his Woman, and swing his big stick. But he's starting to like this! He says it doesn't get better than being the World Champion, and he gets paid a lot more to win. He asks if anyone can imagine how extreme someone would have to get to take it from him now that he's starting to like winning.

On June 30th, Raven and Stevie Richards finally ended the Tag Title run of Public Enemy, but it wasn't taped, so there you go.

ECW HARDCORE HEAVEN 1995
JULY 1ST, 1995
PHILADELPHIA, PA

The Dudley clan debuts in the opener as jobbers, and they're from Charleston, PA. HOLY SHIT WE KNOW WHERE DUDLEYVILLE IS.

Match #1: The Pitbulls w/ Raven, Stevie Richards, & Beulah McGillicutty vs. Snot Dudley/Dudley Dudley w/ Big Dick Dudley[/b]
Dudley Dudley is the only purebred Dudley, according to Joey Styles, as Daddy Dudley fucked the Holland Tunnel. This isn't bad or anything, it just sort of happens. The Stevie Richards fan is back, and hey, it's Francine. Weird. She kisses Stevie, and Beulah flips out. CATFIGHT. YEAH. Raven drags Beulah off and Stevie to the back. Pitbulls have it won after that, but are distracted by Raven being gone. They hit the Superbomb on Snot, but Dudley Dudley hits a Flying Double Axe on #2, rolls it over, AND THE DUDLEYS WIN! YEAH!
*1/4

The Pitbulls flip out over the loss, and Joey Styles interviews them at ringside. They ask where Raven and Stevie keep going when they're supposed to watch their backs, and #1 says something's gonna change here.

Match #2: Dino Sendoff/Don E. Allen vs. Tony Stetson/Chad Austin
This is horrible for 2 minutes before 911 comes out and Chokeslams everyone.
45/Dick Paste

Match #3: Hack Myers vs. Val Puccio

Of course they brought him back. This time, they get 7 minutes. SO BAD. The fat fuck gets offense now, and just...ugh. No. Why? Why is he back? This is one of the worst matches I've ever seen. Fat shit refuses to cover after some Big Splashes, but Hack avoids one and gets the cover to win.
ECW Barbed Wire, Hoodies, & Chokeslams

Match #4: 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Taz w/ Paul E. Dangerously

FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD. Very enjoyable match. Match is worked around putting Taz over, as Scorp tries more to avoid the suplexes, and when Taz hits them, they're treated as big moments. They don't try for greatness, but it's a nice simple match. Taz hits the Taxplex, but Scorp has his foot on the rope. Bill Alfonso comes out to point it out. That's pretty fair actually. Taz wants to hit him and Fonzie again threatens to have ECW shut down if a wrestler hits him. Paul says he's not a fucking wrestler and wants to fight. Scorp uses this to hit Taz with a chair, and Fonzie cheap shots Heyman. He puts the chair on Taz and Scorp hits a Flying Legdrop on top of the chair for the win.
**1/2

Joey Styles is in the ring after the cut, and he brings out Shane Douglas, who is in a WWF shirt. He yells at Joey for talking about his business, and says he built this house on his back and ECW couldn't fill two rows before he stepped into this building. He says he's been in negotiations with the World Wrestling Federation, and yes, he's been considering a contract with the WWF. The audience sings goodbye to him and Joey asks if he'll sell out. Shane tries to talk, and they chant "SHANE IS DEAD!" as a counter to the bullshit old "FLAIR IS DEAD!" This one is much better, on account of fuck Shane Douglas. They also chant "WE WANT FLAIR!" and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~ at him. This is the best. Shane says he's wanted that piece of shit for over 2 years, and yells to shut up and throws the WWF shirt off. He says that's the reason he's leaving and he's put up with this for two years and he's wrestled his heart out in this piece of shit and they keep WOOO'ing and throwing up Four Horsemen signs. He says they've used ECW, what he built, to spread lies and says Joey tells people he and Cactus Jack are no longer friends when they're still best friends. That was never said. He keeps going on for like 15 minutes, and this is the fucking worst. He picks the shirt back up and says this is his official announcement that he's gone from ECW. YES! FINALLY! Woman comes out and says Shane is the smartest man alive, and says he could be with The Sandman and her instead of the WWF. He calls her a douchebag and that turns the fans back to him. C'MON ECW FANS, STAY THE COURSE. BOO HIM UNTIL HE NEVER COMES BACK. She slaps him for his insolence and he demands another. He grabs her hand though, before the Sandman runs out to save. Cactus Jack then runs out and Sandman and Woman bail. Shane leaves and Joey interviews him again, and he says he'll teach Sandman the lesson of his life tonight.

Everyone now uses techno music for entrances. Horrible.

Match #5: Raven/Stevie Richards [c] w/ Beulah McGillicutty vs. Tommy Dreamer/Luna Vachon [ECW Tag Team Championship]
This was alright. Carried pretty much entirely by Raven/Dreamer brawls, but whatevs. Not long enough to be great at some seven minutes, and what was there was entertaining enough. Raven slamming Tommy's broken fingers into stuff was a highlight. Beulah blinds Luna with powder and Stevie gets a Folding Press for the win.
**

They keep brawling, and it goes on for-fucking-ever. Raven works on the hand of Tommy, and they get Luna all alone. Raven signals to the back for someone to come out, and the Pitbulls slowly come out to the ring, not looking totally pleased. Raven orders a Superbomb on Luna, but they refuse, AND ATTACK RAVEN AND STEVIE! STEVIE EATS THE SUPERBOMB! The Dudleys then come out to fight The Pitbulls, and Raven and Dreamer fight again. Horribly, Stevie no-sells the Superbomb to get up and fight Luna. This goes on for another TEN FUCKING MINUTES before the faces fully run the heels off. OH MY GOD WHY?! ECW is THE WORST when it comes to time management.

Tod Gordon comes out and asks Bill Alfonso to come to the ring. He says he has a surprise for him, and since he's so much about enforcing the rules, he's assigning him to a match where there are no rules, the Taipei Death Match!

Match #6: Axl Rotten vs. Ian Rotten [Taipei Death Match]
This happens. It's their final match, and justifiably, the most brutal. It's still, y'know, aimless violence, but whatever. I'm at a fucking loss for how this won Feud of the Year in PWI. I get that 1995 wasn't a great year for feuds. Shit, Dean/Eddie won FOTY in the Observer, and that's hardly been a great feud, unless it heats up HUGE in the next month and a half. Great, stellar matches, but not FOTY material. There's not a lot in WCW, and WWF 1995 lacked any kind of real great feud. BUT SHIT, RAVEN VS. DREAMER HAPPENED IN 1995. And fuck it, if you're at a loss, just hand it to Misawa/Kawada. They feuded for like 8 years, so that's a solid standby. Oh also, The Gangstas and Public Enemy brawled around the building during this, so what? Alfonso got dragged away in their brawl, and another ref came out to do this. The match is like 90% glass gloves based violence before thumbtacks come out at the end. Axl back drops Ian on them and hits a Splash to win. IT'S OVER. I WIN. FUCK YOU ECW. I WIN.
*1/2

Match #7: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Cactus Jack [ECW World Heavyweight Championship]

This is overkill by now. They've had some 5-6 matches in the last 6 months, and I hope this is the last. Cool thing where Jack comes out with his hand wrapped in barbed wire as a weapon. Sandman uses it against him by targeting the hand to force it into the wire. They do some nice stuff with that, and then Woman canes Jack to save the title. CACTUS BREAKS THE CANE AND SHOVES HER DOWN! YEAH! Sandman hits Jack and the ref on accident and all three are down so Shane Douglas can come out. He hits Sandman with a Piledriver, and he picks up the cane. He says the first lesson is this, that you keep your friends close, and your enemies right by your side. WRONG. He then jabs Cactus in the face with the broken cane, and hits him with the Piledriver too! He pulls Sandman on top and he retains.
**1/2

Shane gets on the mic and tells ECW to kiss his ass. Tod Gordon comes out and tries to restart the match, but to no avail. Shane says he'll consider staying in ECW, if Tod gets down on his hands and knees and begs him. Tod considers it and gets down, but stands back up and says, "NO FUCK YOU, YOU'RE FIRED!" FUCK YEAH TOD! Shane hits him and begins taking his clothes off, before 911 and Paul come out. CHOKESLAM TO SHANE! FUCK YOU, LEAVE. NEVER RETURN. If only.

Match #8: Public Enemy vs. The Gangstas
This wasn't great, but The Gangstas are better brawlers than Pitbulls or PE, so they can make it somewhat good on that end. PE still has to do work though, so it suffers on that end, like in all their fucking matches. 1996 can't come soon enough, even if it's not downloaded and won't be until I go home again. But yeah, New Jack and Mustafa are fantastic. Hurling things full force at PE, using anything around them, and putting the sense of HATE that's missing in every other PE brawl. Great storytelling too, as The Gangstas are so violent and brutal that it takes PE from their usual style of brawling until they get bored and end it to actively trying to win so they can survive. At the same time, The Gangstas care more about brutalizing PE than winning, and it allows Rocco to get Jack from behind with a fucking croquet mallet as a brief flash of offense for the win while Mustafa was out of range to save. Long live the Gangstas for getting this out of PE.
**1/2

PE ends the show with another loathsome dance party.

The full fucking 30 minute Shane Douglas goodbye interview airs.

ECW ARENA RETURN - HEATWAVE 95 - JULY 15TH:
-SANDMAN VS. AXL ROTTEN FOR THE TITLE
-GANGSTAS/PE II
-STEVIE RICHARDS VS. LUNA IN A CAGE MATCH

A really shitty fancam shot airs clips of Raven & Stevie winning the Tag Titles.

In a pretape from after the win, Raven and Stevie cut a promo. Raven is facing the wall and Stevie jumps up and down and yells the lyrics to "We Are the Champions" and Beulah looks at him like he's an idiot. Raven finally turns around and Stevie calls PE pansies and says they're role models, not PE.

Taz vs. 2 Cold Scorpio is then shown.

In a pretape, The Sandman and Woman talk. Sandman says Axl is fat, smelly, stinky, and he's a bastard. WELCOME TO HIS CLUB HAHAHAHAHAHA! He says on the 15th, he'll take his baseball bat and the barbed wire and show him just how extreme his champion is.

The end of Jack/Sandman is shown.

The jobber tag and 911's intrusion with many Chokeslams opens the show.

Hack Myers vs. that fat fuck is aired. I'm amazed this made the air, it's a pretty damning thing to show on your TV show.

In a pretape, The Sandman and Woman talk. Woman says Axl Rotten isn't hardcore enough to handle a woman like her. The Sandman laughs and says Axl thinks he can go hardcore for hardcore with him. He says he's good and he loved watching him beat up his idiot brother, but he's dealing with The Sandman now, and nobody gets extreme like he does.

The Pitbulls vs. the prototype Dudleys is shown.

The ending of Raven/Stevie vs. Tommy/Luna and the post-match is shown in full. Meaning including that ridiculously long post-match brawl.

In the back, Joey Styles interviews Paul Heyman. He says 2 Cold Scorpio is a great great wrestler, but he's stepped into the Path of Rage, and that's why he's chosen Eddie Guerrero to be Taz's partner this Saturday to face 2 Cold Scorpio and Dean Malenko, because nobody has their number like the Television Champion. He says the Tazplex is superior to any other wrestling Suplex, and on a personal note, Bill Alfonso defies the fans to show up on the 15th, and from him to him, he might as well write a will before he comes back to the ECW Arena.

Clips of PE/Gangstas airs.

There's some Fonzie/Gordon seg, but the sound is even worse than usual, and no words or phrases can be made out. They fight and Gordon beats up Fonzie. They get pulled apart and Fonzie slaps Tod's bald head before running away. Why?

Match #1: Mikey Whipwreck vs. Mike Norman
Mikey is skilled somewhat and is a great underdog, but he should never get a squash match. That's not how you book a fucking underdog. God damnit, ECW. Get your shit together. Norman is a good job guy though. Whipwreck does his thing, and 7 minutes is absurd for this. Mikey wins with a super shoddy looking Flying Huracanrana for the win.
*3/4

Match #2: Raven/Stevie Richards [c] w/ Beulah McGillicutty vs. The Broad Street Bully/Don E. Allen

This is more of an angle, but whatevs. Francine is again there in the crowd with a Stevie Richards sign. She's more cute here than slutty, so that's worth noting. Jobbers get offense on Stevie after he is distracted by his fans, but he eventually gets back in it. HE THEN GOES AND MAKES OUT WITH FRANCINE! GO STEVIE! Raven slaps Stevie and then The Pitbulls come out to attack them. That's a count out and the jobbers win the match, but not the titles!
*1/2

The Dudleys come out to help, and a brawl breaks out. The two big man teams fight to the back, and Raven and Stevie go back to ringside. Bully gets on the mic and demands a rematch because of his dedication to ECW. Raven and Stevie get back in, and Raven immediately hits him with the Evenflow and covers to win.

The Pitbulls come back out to try and attack Raven and Stevie. Francine hops the rail, but Beulah tackles her and is mad as she can be the only female in the group. CAT FIGHT. YEAH. TOMMY COMES OUT DURING THIS AND ATTACKS RAVEN! FUCK YEAH! TOMMY BREAKS RAVEN'S FINGERS IN RETURN! Big Dick Dudley runs back out and Chokeslams Tommy. That wasn't necessary at all. Tommy getting a measure of revenge was perfect for that.

Match #3: Hack Myers vs. Val Puccio
OH COME ON. AGAIN? A FUCKING REMATCH? FOR SIX MINUTES? No, fuck you. I've stuck it out through every goddamned match thus far. I'm skipping this. I can't do it. Brent Albright rule now applies to this fat fuck.
AIDS Blood

Raven and Stevie come back out to the ring, and Raven keeps shaking out his hand, which is now taped up like Tommy's was last month. He calls Tommy out to the ring, and he and Luna come out. Thankfully, the techno is gone. The two teams fight again. The Pitbulls run out to also fight Raven and Stevie, which brings out the Dudleys, and a six man breaks out as Luna and Stevie brawl to the back.

Match #4: Raven/Dudley Dudley/Snot Dudley vs. Tommy Dreamer/The Pitbulls
Raven and Tommy brawl through the arena, and I'm sure it was great, except that the camera stays on the ring, where The Pitbulls squash the Dudleys for 5 minutes. Stevie comes back out, but eats a Superbomb. Franchine tries to check on him, and that brings out Beulah, and they also fight away. They win with the Superbomb on Snot.
*1/4

Match #5: Dean Malenko/2 Cold Scorpio vs. Eddie Guerrero/Taz w/ Paul E. Dangerously

FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD. This wasn't great though, BECAUSE HEY, LET'S CLIP UP THE GOOD MATCH.
I found it on the ECW Unreleased set on Netflix though, so that's awesome. Good stuff early on between both of the main pairings this emphasizes. They work on Taz's leg, and Dean does some quality knee stuff as usual. His selling could be better, but it was never outright bad, and he sold it for a while when he was on the apron, so I'll count that as transitionary selling. Eddie vs. Dean is great stuff, as it always is, and there's lots of cool shit in the finishing run. Paul hits Scorpio with the phone and Taz wins with a Tazplex, but Bill Alfonso comes out to restart it. Scorpio clocks Taz with a Superkick as this is a distraction, and Dean beats Eddie with a Liger Bomb at the same time as this, so Scorp and Deano get a double pin here.
***

Paul talks shit, but Joey talks over it and the audio is shitty, so whatever.

Match #6: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Axl Rotten [ECW World Heavyweight Championship]
This opens with a BARBED WIRE BAT AND SINGAPORE CANE SWORDFIGHT! AMAZING! The bat obviously wins as it's heavier and has barbed wire too. He busts Sandman with the wire bat and rakes it all over him. Sandman gets a shot in, and takes wire off the bat, AND WRAPS IT AROUND HIMSELF AND USES HIMSELF AS A WEAPON! Axl survives though, AND ENDS UP TYING A SHIRTLESS SANDMAN INTO THE CORNER WITH THE WIRE AND SPLASHING HIM REPEATEDLY! Woman causes a distraction, and Sandman gets loose with the wire still in him. He jumps on Axl and rolls around with the wire going all over. He canes the shit out of him and goes up to hit a John Cena style Flying Fameasser thing for the win. Weirdly great match.
***

Match #7: Stevie Richards vs. Luna Vachon [Steel Cage Match]

Why? Stevie really does his best and gets something decent out of Luna. He makes Luna look awesome before just annihilating her goddamned hideous face with a Superkick. They do some cage stuff, and Stevie tries a low blow ahahahahaha. Luna avoids a Splash off the top, and makes with the dick violence. She puts on the DICK CLAW, AND STEVIE SUBMITS!
**

Raven and the Dudleys come out and they throw the ref out. EVENFLOW ON LUNA! RAVEN PULLS OUT THE HANDCUFFS, BUT TOMMY AND THE PITBULLS COME OUT! They fight the Dudleys to the back and Luna throws Stevie out and follows, AND THE CAGE IS LOCKED! TOMMY THROWS RAVEN INTO ALL FOUR SIDES, AND BUSTS HIM OPEN! TOMMY GRABS THE HANDCUFFS, AND HANDCUFFS RAVEN TO THE CAGE IN THE CRUCIFIX POSITION LIKE HE DID TO TOMMY AND LUNA! TOMMY GETS THE CHAIR AND HITS THE CHAIR SHOT HEARD ROUND THE WORLD!

Posted Image

Tommy poses in front of Raven, and has finally gotten some kind of revenge on Raven. Crowd goes wild. THIS FEUD. Tommy goes into the crowd and leads them in the loudest "ECW!" chant yet.

Aaaaaaaand the show doesn't end at the perfect climax, because PE has to main event, like they always do for some ungodly reason. And the cage is still up with weapons in it.

Match #8: Public Enemy vs. The Gangstas [Steel Cage Match]
This is not as good as last show, as the cage confines them. New Jack and Mustafa do what they can, I guess. More of an aimless PE brawl than Hardcore Heaven was. The Gangstas just murder them at the end with all the weapons, including the first use of a staple gun. Mustafa blinds Grunge with spraypaint to the face and rolls him up to win.
*3/4

They keep killing PE until they are stretchered out.

The horrible Tod/Alfonso seg opens the show. Fuck you.

Joey announces more Florida shows and one in Middletown, NY with THE STEINERS! YEAH!

WRESTLEPALOOZA 95! DOESN'T MATTER, DON'T HAVE IT. THE TV CLIPS WILL HAVE TO DO!

Raven/Stevie's tag title squash and the post-match airs.

A clipped version of Eddie/Taz vs. Dean/Scorpio airs.

A video airs of the PE/Gangstas feud over the last several shows.

In a pretape, The Gangstas finally cut a promo. Jack asks if they thought The Gangstas was gonna play with them on the killing field. Nah. They're here for money and belts. And they got to know that when they get them again, don't think tonight was as bad as it gets. He'll break a few ribs, he'll even puncture a kidney if it's worth it. Mustafa says they was tougher than they thought, but this is in their hood now, and they'll die before they make it out the other side, because in their hood, someone would take out imitators like the Public Enemy. He says they're going to set them on fire, and ECW hasn't seen extreme yet.

In a pretape, Raven, Stevie, and Beulah talk. Stevie runs down how they've beaten PE and Tommy and Luna, and asks if they're supposed to be scared of The Steiners. Beulah asks who that bimbo is. Stevie says she's hot for his trot, and if Beulah has a problem with that, she can ride the Stevie Express too. Raven yells at him, and Stevie says he means if he's driving them somewhere. Like to the movies. Beulah says she's a bimbo, and she's smarter, prettier, and has a better body than her. Raven yells at them to shut up. He says Tommy Dreamer is gone, and the Pitbulls will come next for their betrayal. He says if the Steiners want to come in, he'll best them again. CONTINUITY! FIGHT UNDER QUEBECER RULES! Raven says he is the most powerful force in ECW. Quote the Raven, nevermore.

Clips air from shitty undercard matches on the show.

In the back, Joey Styles says Taz injured his neck in the following match, and will be out of action.

Match #1: Dean Malenko/2 Cold Scorpio vs. Eddie Guerrero/Taz w/ Paul E. Dangerously
Not as good as the Arena match, but whatever. It's clipped a lot down to some six minutes, but there's still a lot of quality so these four can put some points on the board. Taz gets fucked up off a Spike Piledriver, and they work the match around his neck being broken after. He doesn't get back in and his neck was broken, and Eddie works a great handicap match. Lots of cool lucha stuff to combat both dudes, and pulls off the upset after a Brainbuster and Frog Splash on Dean.
**1/2

Joey says Eddie and Dean meet again next week for the TV Title.

Match #2: Mikey Whipwreck vs. The Terrorist
Typical Mikey. The Terrorist is not much good, so neither is this. Mikey wins with a Flying Crossbody.
*

Bill Alfonso comes out, and the mic work is totally incomprehensible, but I assume he's trying some obscure rule to cost Mikey the match. The Terrorist attacks Mikey with a Piledriver, so 911 comes out the Chokeslam him and Bill bails.

SOUNDS OF THE 70S

Match #3: The Pitbulls vs. Bull Pain/Joe DeFuria
SQUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH. But Bull Pain dying was fun. DeFuria gets completely obliterated with the Superbomb and that ends it.

ECW Television Champion: Eddie Guerrero, Since 4/8/1995
ECW Tag Team Champions: Raven/Stevie Richards, Since 6/30/1995

ECW Hardcore TV
August 1st, 1995
Tampa, FL

The show opens with a wild Tommy/Pitbulls/Axl vs. Raven/Stevie/Dudleys brawl from what looks like right after last week's Pitbulls squash where the episode seemed like it ended. Awesome all over the arena brawl with inventive weapons, so fairly standard for this feud and this time. It ends with the opening credits.

Joey says tonight will see a battle royal with the winner facing Sandman for the belt later after Dean/Eddie III.

Match #1: #1 Contender's Battle Royal
This is JIP and under 5 minutes. Raven and Dreamer eliminate each other, and Mikey goes on a crazy miracle run. Marty is randomly back and is in there. Gets down to them and The Sandman and Woman come out. Good enough final section of a battle royal, AND MIKEY LOWBRIDGES MARTY OUT! FUCK YEAH!
*3/4

Mikey raises Mikey's hand, BUT SANDMAN CANES MARTY IN THE BACK! YEAH! Mikey backs off, all fatigued, AND ALFONSO COMES OUT AND DEMANDS THE MATCH STARTS NOW!

Match #2: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Mikey Whipwreck [ECW World Heavyweight Championship]
Great angle, not a great match. Mikey is totally exhausted and beat up from the battle royal, and Sandman has fun with him. Mikey gets a few close calls on roll ups, so Sandman ends it with a Piledriver to retain. Awesome booking of this whole angle, as now I want to see Mikey get a shot at full strength.

In the back, Mikey goes over to Joey Styles. He says Sandman's been a monster since he won the World Title, and well, he's challenging him to a Singapore Caning match! If he can't win, he'll take the ten lashes because he can be just as extreme as him. He pulls out a cigarette and Joey shakes his head and says to stop it. Mikey takes a drag and coughs a lot before Joey takes it from him and puts it out.

WRESTLEPALOOZA ON AUGUST 5TH! STEINERS/TAZ VS. DEAN/SCORPIO/BENOIT! PE VS. THE GANGSTAS IN A STRETCHER MATCH! RAVEN/STEVIE VS. PITBULLS! Of course they use "SAD! BUT TRUE!" by Mettallica for this.

In a pretape, Taz and The Steiners cut a promo. Scott says they haven't wrestled in the US in a year and a half, and ECW lets you be as wild and crazy as you want, and they're going to kick some fucking ass. Rick yells a lot and barks. Taz says he'll do his talking in the ring. Of course Taz won't get cleared and Benoit's visa STILL isn't there, and it turns into Steiners/Eddie vs. Dean/Scorpio/Cactus.

Match #3: Eddie Guerrero [c] vs. Dean Malenko [ECW Television Championship]
Disappointing house show performance. They pretty blatantly just do shit to do shit, laying on the mat way too long, and jumping back and forth between holds and fast spots with no real story or logic behind them. They got moving and it picked up, but still never hit what they did at the Arena shows. Dean rolls through a Huracanrana into a sunset flip to regain the title!
**3/4

They shake hands post-match, but Eddie clotheslines Dean.

Joey says there's a rematch next week.

Match #4: The Sandman [c] w/ Woman vs. Mikey Whipwreck [ECW World Heavyweight Championship - Singapore Caning Match]
This is another angle. Mikey goes wild on Sandman and hits a Piledriver inevitably. He then went up top, but slipped off and Sandman fell on top to win.
3/4*

Mikey has to get the 10 lashes now, and collapses at 3. The ring announcer tries to say he'll step in, but Sandman knocks him out and hits a fourth! Mikey gets to 7, and can't stand up at all. Referees and babyfaces come out to try and stretcher him out, but Bill Alfonso comes out and says ECW will be guilty of false advertising, and he doesn't let them stretcher Mikey out. Marty covers up Mikey and absorbs the last two and Sandman is mad, and canes the shit out of Marty beyond the last two before leaving.

Clips air from one of the Florida shows where PE was dancing in the ring with tons of fans and the ring collapsed. Famous moment and all that.

Match #1: Raven/Stevie Richards [c] w/ Beulah McGillicutty vs. The Pitbulls [ECW Tag Team Championship]
This was not good. Really plodding control work from Raven and Stevie, and it broke down before any kind of comeback. Beulah blinds #2 with hairspray and Stevie gets a schoolboy for the win.

Another Team Raven vs. Team Tommy brawl breaks out. The heels bail, but Beulah is trapped and eats a Piledriver from Tommy.

LOTS OF COMMERCIALS.

Match #2: Dean Malenko [c] vs. Eddie Guerrero [ECW Television Championship]
This is better than Florida. They do a lot more stuff early on and don't blatantly kill time. Crowd is hotter too, and they have their usual natural flow back. Dean works on the ribs and midsection this time, and adapts all his stuff to target the injured part. Eddie tries flash counters, but Dean has them all scouted. He again rolls through a Huracanrana into a sunset flip, but Eddie reverses into a cutback to regain the title!

A music video of Mikey Whipwreck airs, set to "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer. A NEW SONG! WHOA!
