These next two matches don't air on TV, but instead were saved for various other releases to boost sales. It's solid business, but very infuriating. The Eliminators vs. Miracle Violence Connection, High Incident (October 26th) For the first time, The Eliminators have to fight from underneath, and it's interesting to see. It's also great to see, because it means that MVC dominates, which means Doc gets to shine, since he's still a great wrestler here. Kronus takes some great bumps while isolated, and then the finishing run is amazing. SATURN POWERBOMBS WILLIAMS ON THE CONCRETE JESUS CHRIST. They get Gordy alone and he fights it, BUT DIES ON TOTAL ELIMINATION! BUT DOC MAKES THE SAVE, WHAT?! They get rid of Doc after a bit, AND SATURN'S INSANE, SO HE CLIMBS ONTO THE SCAFFOLD FOR TOMMY/LEE, AND DIVES OFF OF IT WITH A FLYING ELBOW TO WIN. *** Tommy Dreamer vs. Brian Lee [Scaffold Match], High Incident (October 26th) You know what you get here. They brawl and it's hit or miss depending on what weapons they use. The aimless brawling is boring since there's not a lot of hate and neither is an amazing puncher or striker, but they're willing to get his hard with weapons and do some neat spots. They fight on the scaffold eventually, and hey yeah, Brian Lee gets knocked off through many tables, and it is finally over. ** |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: The Sandman, Since 10/5/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV October 29th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA Clips of Brian Lee's fall open the show. In the ring, Joey Styles intros the show and makes his digs at the WWF, and talks about how they hired Mark Henry. Joey then brings on Kurt Angle, so this is THAT show. Joey doesn't let him talk, but sucks his dick before Little Guido comes out! FUCK YEAH! It's amazing to see Kurt Angle in shape and with hair and looking like a normal human being. Joey talks about Guido's amateur credentials, and Guido says it's an honor. Joey then talks about Guido's opponent and asks if he'll be impressed with THIS MAN, AND FUCK YEAH, TAZ COMES OUT! KILL HIM 3 YEARS AND A FEW MONTHS EARLY. CHOKE HIM OUT NOW. Taz shakes his hand and puts himself over and says Kurt's the greatest amateur but he's the best professional, before Kurt joins commentary for the night. Match #1: Taz w/ Team Taz vs. Little Guido [Shoot Fight] Really enjoyable match. Taz gets put over all match by Angle, and they have a cool little exhibition of holds before Taz dominates with some beautiful throws. He puts on the Tazmission for the win. **1/2 Taz gets on the mic, and he puts over Kurt again, before he calls out Sabu. He says he's been calling him out for a year, and he's tired of waiting, and he's tired of Sabu ducking him. He says this is going to happen one way or another, and Sabu's going to look him in the eye when it does. He then drops down and does Sabu's pose again. ECW NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER 1996 - NOVEMBER 16TH! Before the next match, Pitbull #2 tries to attack Shane Douglas, but is held back by half the locker room. Match #2: Shane Douglas w/ Francine vs. Cody Michaels This is mostly a Douglas showcase, and the kid doesn't bring a lot to this. This is JIP, and Joey is hilariously going insane as Cody hits jobber offense and is the only one who thinks he has a shot. Shane takes over and hits a Tombstone before Shane pulls him up limp to hit the Side Belly to Belly to win. *1/2 Shane then hits that shitty Divorce Court DDT on the belt and puts on the Full Nelson, but Pitbull #2 runs out to save! Shane bails out, and people again try to get Pitbull #2 to the back, but he finally starts attacking them. Shane tries to attack from behind, but he no-sells it. People again pull him off, and Shane bails for good this time. Pitbull #2 is alone, and Gertner announces Shane Douglas as the winner, so Pitbull #2 press slams him to everyone on the floor! NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER '96: -THE ELIMINATORS VS. RVD/SABU IN A #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH - WINNERS FACE THE GANGSTAS LATER Match #3: Chris Candido vs. Spike Dudley Hey, awesome! Spike bumps like a lunatic and makes Candido look even better than he already is. Candido brings some awesome bumping too, and immediately becomes one of the five best actual wrestlers in ECW. Probably #2 behind Scorp on first thought. He wins with a Super Powerbomb, and does push ups on Spike in the pin. ** The crowd chants "SKIP IS DEAD!", and Candido gets on the mic. He says there's a lot of stories out there, but he won't shit on the WWF, because he owes a lot to Vince McMahon. He says he gave his notice to come back here though, and mentions being on the very first ECW show in this building. He says he's always been great, but he's here to be great in ECW AND TO MAKE ECW GREAT AGAIN UNLIKE THE CURRENT DISGUSTING SHITHOLE THAT IT IS NOW! FUCK YEAH! He leaves, and gets cheered for this. So the fans agree, I guess? Match #4: The Sandman [c] vs. 2 Cold Scorpio [ECW World Heavyweight Championship] This ruled! Sandman has a bad knee, and he thinks it's going to be fun, BUT SCORPIO WANTS THE FUCKING BELT AND GOES FOR THE KNEE! YEAH! This is clipped a ton, but this really could have been one of the better matches of the year. Even as a 6 minute clipshow, it was great. Scorp keeps going to the knee to set up his high flying, and Sandman tries high flying. in his usual sloppy, and yet endearing and charming way. For the first time ever, Scorpio misses The Diss That Don't Miss, and Sandman covers to BARELY win. *** Sandman celebrates, AND TYLER COMES INTO THE RING DRESSED LIKE THE SANDMAN! Sandman drops to a knee, and they hug AND FUCK YEAH! AWESOME! BUT RAVEN COMES IN AND CANES SANDMAN FROM BEHIND! TYLER SORT OF RAVEN POSES, AND RAVEN HITS THE EVENFLOW ON THE TITLE! AWESOME ANGLE AND EPISODE! |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: The Sandman, Since 10/5/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV November 5th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA/Middletown, NY The footage from the end of last week's show airs again, and more stuff happened after when they had to cut out for time. Raven hit another DDT, and Stevie and Meanie set up a table platform on the ring and guardrail. Raven takes Sandman out onto it, AND HITS THE PILEDRIVER THROUGH THE TABLE! The next part never aired because Kurt Angle threw a fit and fucking CCC in action. Ugh. Meanie and Stevie went under the ring and proceeded to pull out a crucifix, and they crucify Sandman at ringside! Raven puts a crown of barbed wire on his head and poses behind him. They leave, but nobody can untie Sandman, so they have to carry him out of the arena like Christ. Angle was super mad and Heyman pretended to be mad about it to continue to try and woo Angle. Raven then had to do a horrible apology. Whatever. Sandman sold it better than Jesus did. ANYWAYS, in the back, Raven says Sandman's the one who filed suit for custody. He brought the lawyers, and he made him leave the country. He got him out of the way and stole his title, his solace. He says this ends when he gets it back, when he takes the last thing in his life Sandman cares about, and it ends at November to Remember. He can bring the belt, he'll bring the kid. It will be a night he'll wish he could forget. Quote the Raven, nevermore. In the back, Joey Styles says he's reporting from Middletown, NY also this week and says Shane/Tommy is later on tonight. He says the main event of N2R would be a Dream Partner Tag Match. How is Raven/Sandman not the main event? FUCK. Pitbull #2 has chosen Tommy Dreamer as his partner and Shane has put out an undisclosed bounty to anyone who can take out Pitbull #2 and they can also be his partner. Joey says two men are attempting to collect in the ring. The match happens, but it's mostly in the background to a Shane Douglas promo in the back. He's back to being annoyingly long winded again. Ugh. God damnit. He goes on and on about Pitbull #2 being a marked man and talks in circles. Like 30 seconds out of 3-4 minutes air, and Pitbull #2 wins with a Super Fallaway Slam after Shane and Francine came out ringside. Pitbull drags Shane in, but Brian Lee comes out! NO! They beat on Pitbull #2 and take him to the back of the arena near some loading trucks. Stevie and Meanie are hanging out there and help set up tables. Brian takes Pitbull atop the truck, AND CHOKESLAMS HIM DOWN THROUGH SOME TABLES! DEAD! Shane puts on the Full Nelson and shakes it for a while before letting go when Tommy Dreamer comes over to save after #2 had passed out. Pitbull #2 is stretchered out and Joey claims Shane may have finally broken his neck too. Shane holds up the Triple Threat sign. Shane, Brian Lee, and Stevie Richards? Well, okay then. ADDED TO NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER: -THE SANDMAN VS. RAVEN FOR THE ECW TITLE -CHRIS CANDIDO VS. MIKEY WHIPWRECK In the back, Joey says Brian Lee has officially been added as Shane Douglas' partner for November to Remember. Well that match is going to fucking suck. Match #1: Doug Furnas vs. Louie Spicolli This is from Ultimate Jeopardy on 10/5. Good little match. Furnas continues to be THE BEST. He's a total dick and has some great mannerisms, and then he hurls a much bigger man around the ring with all his fantastic power spots. Great control seg, but he refuses to cover. Furnas goes for a tackle, BUT SPICOLLI CATCHES HIM WITH A FLASH DVD TO WIN! YEAH! **1/4 HOUSE OF HARDCORE! TRAIN WITH CHRIS CHETTI! Match #2: Shane Douglas [c] vs. Tommy Dreamer [ECW Television Championship] Francine and Beulah are on the floor. Joey says this could be a classic technical match if there wasn't an issue here. LOLNOPE. This was in no way bad, but just kind of happened. Shane hit the shitty Single Arm DDT, Tombstone, and then put on a Full Nelson. The women fought and Tommy somehow got free. Brian Lee comes out and Chokeslams Tommy. He brings Beulah in, BUT SHANE PUTS HER IN THE FULL NELSON TOO WHAT THE FUCK?! Brian Lee hits the ref with a Chokeslam too because fuck this match. **1/4 People come to try and save, but because ECW's locker room is filled with drug addicts, retards, and brain dead people, they come out single file and Lee murders them all. Beulah passes out and Shane lets go, and again holds up the Triple Threat sign. PULP FICTION: -Joey Styles says Tommy can pick a new partner now -Raven's short promo re-airs -The Eliminators are going to eliminate Sabu and Rob Van Dam. Kronus squeaks. -Brian Lee says if the rumors are true about Tommy's partner, he's happy. He dares him to bring on the legend, so he can put him out of his misery. -Shane Douglas talks for an hour again. Real bummer to see Shane slowly revert back to what made him so awful in 1995 with the overlong promos and holding back in the ring (although he's clearly much better than 1995 and can go farther half-assing it now) with how on point and motivated he was in the first 6 months of the year. -Tommy Dreamer leaves the hospital, and he pulls his phone out of his truck. He asks the operator to make a collect call TO THE MOTHERFUCKING DOUBLE CROSS RANCH! YEAH! |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: The Sandman, Since 10/5/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV November 12th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA A recap airs of last week's many angles to hype the N2R tag. Joey officially confirms that it's Tommy/Funk vs. Douglas/Lee. The amazing Terry Funk "Desperado" video from last year airs, now updated with more footage. A huge clipjob airs of Bubba vs. D-Von from Ultimate Jeopardy. Looked great though. D-Von kills Bubba with chair stuff, Bubba flies everywhere. D-Von wins with a final chair shot. After the match, Axl Rotten attacks Spike in the ring, but Big Dick gets in to save. He knocks him down, AND BIG DICK HITS A FUCKING MOONSAULT ON AXL! SHIT YEAH! Clips air of D-Von and Axl hurting Big Dick at a house show with a proto-Conchairto. In the back, he assaulted D-Von and they were pulled apart. Joel Gertner gets hit in the melee. After it gets broken up, Joel went to D-Von and Axl, and he says he might have a plan. In the back, Joey Styles says Big Dick Dudley is in jail on charges from Joel Gertner now, and may not be able to make the biggest show of the year. A quick recap airs of MVC/Eliminators. Match #1: Sabu/Rob Van Dam vs. The Can-Am Express This is JIP, but we get 9 minutes and it's very clearly a great match. Sabu and RVD have some communication problems throughout. Kroffat uses a Cobra Clutch Suplex that he's been using before he even came to ECW, that he's been using for YEARS, and Joey tries to claim Taz taught him that. SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. TAZ DIDN'T INVENT SUPLEXES. FUCK YOU. JOEY STYLES IS THE FUCKING WORST. GOD, I HATE HIM. If Joey Styles had a more annoying voice, he'd be as bad as Gabe on commentary. ANYWAYS, good control seg on Sabu, and the finishing run was tits. RVD's hot tag ruled, and Sabu hit Furnas with the Triple Jump Moonsault! He broke the pin himself to dodge a Kroffat splash, and RVD tripped Kroffat up, and Sabu covered to win! *** They finally officially shake hands. Match #2: 2 Cold Scorpio vs. David Tyler Morton Jericho Who the fuck? Oh, it's a young Kid Kash. They try to have Scorp make him look good, BUT OH MY GOD, HE IS SO BAD. ALSO HE'S DRESSED LIKE RICKY MORTON. Kash is fine at selling, but he shits his pants whenever he has to do offense. Scorp kills him with the Diss That Don't Miss. *1/2 TAZ COMES OUT, AND HE CHOKES OUT SCORPIO! YEAH! Taz gets on the mic and says he just choked out the man who busted his fucking neck, and for one year, he's been choking out man after man after man, and there's ONE more thing left to do. The fans chant for Sabu, and he says that pussy ain't comin' out. He says there's one thing left to do and one man left for him to choke out, but there's one little thing stopping Sabu from facing him. FEAR. FEAR. SABU FEARS TAZ. AND SO HE FUCKING SHOULD. HIT THE GOD DAMNED MUSIC. FUCK YEAH TAZ! A video on the history of Sabu and Taz airs, highlighting their tag team run and Sabu's departure. Then Taz's heel turn and Sabu's return and the last year. Paul Heyman was narrating, and the video then fades to him doing a pretape. He said there was one man he consulted before bringing Sabu back to to ECW and one man whose blessing he felt he needed to get, it was Taz's. He says the deal with the three of them was simple, Sabu came back to ECW because it was best for business, and Taz would leave him alone, because it was best for the health of ECW. He says Taz gave him his word that bygones were bygones and he would let the events of the Three Way Dance go. He gave him his word as a friend, and more importantly, as a man, and Sabu gave him the same promise. He said he'd put everything behind him, and yet for one year, Taz has called out Sabu, and done it because Taz has known for one year that Sabu cannot answer the challenge. He gave him his word and for one year, Sabu has been a man of his word. He says at ECW, they cherish Taz's ability and physical gifts and tout him as the best because nobody else in any other promotion can compare. He says the man with the body of a baby gorilla lacks the mental maturity to go along with his physical gifts, because he's NEVER gotten over the jealousy, the rage, or the envy. For one year he's called Sabu out knowing he cannot accept the challenge without going back on his word. That's the truth, and besides Sabu, that's the one thing Taz cannot handle. "November Rain" starts playing at the end of that, and it goes into the AMAZING music video. It's not on youtube anymore, but it's the best ECW music video yet. |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: The Sandman, Since 10/5/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ![]() ![]() ECW NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER 1996 NOVEMBER 16TH, 1996 PHILADELPHIA, PA Taz and Bill Alfonso are in the ring to open the show. He says he wants to explain what's happening tonight, and says there's a bunch of wrestlers signing contracts in the back for this big show that's going to happen in the first quarter of the new year. He says if Paul wants to mess with him, he's going to ruin his surprise. He says recently Paul decided to expose him as a scumbag and a liar, and so be it, HE LIED. He reneged on his word with him and his boy, and that's fine. He says he won't break his word this time, because at that big show, he's going to be the main event against his boy. He ain't gonna have a choice but to face him and after tonight, he will look him in his eye. BEFORE THE OPENER, THE BWO DEBUTS! YES! BIG STEVIE COOL, DA BLUE GUY, AND HOLLYWOOD NOVA. Meanie throws a chicken bone instead of a tooth pick, and Nova does a HORRIBLE Hogan impression, almost ruining it. Stevie being Stevie though, he saves it by constantly making Diesel honking motions in the back. He says he has three simple words for them, "WE'RE TAKING OVER!" This gets one of the hugest ovations so far in this review. Stevie can't even turn the crowd on him now. Match #1: Stevie Richards w/ BWO vs. David Tyler Morton Jericho This would have been great in 2005, but Kash is like 8 years away from being good and 3 or 4 from being not awful. 10 minutes was retardedly long for this match. LOTS of low blows and dick offense for some reason. Stevie tries to do Nash offense and fails hilariously. More dick shots at the end and a Stevie Kick ends it. *1/2 Match #2: Axl Rotten vs. Hack Myers Hey, Hack still works here. Punches and chair shots. Whatever. Axl hits a Pedigree on a chair to win. * Match #3: Bubba Ray Dudley vs. D-Von Dudley Another fun brawl between the two. Bubba takes huge bumps, D-Von's stuff all looks great, an both men destroy each other's brain cells with weapons. Less chaotic than the summer tag matches, but the Arena is jammed full of people tonight, so they have less space to play with. D-Von survives the Bubba Bomb, but Bubba fights back after many chair shots. He shoots D-Von into the air, AND CATCHES HIM COMING DOWN WITH THE BUBBA CUTTER TO WIN! **1/4 Spike Dudley and Sign Guy Dudley came out to celebrate. Joel Gertner takes the mic away from Bob Artese and announces YOUR WINNER BY JUDGES' DECISION, D-VON DUDLEY! They go after him, but Axl Rotten comes out to save with a chair. BUT BIG DICK DUDLEY IS OUT OF JAIL AND COMES OUT! YEAH! Axl and D-Von bail, but Joel doesn't. He dies and Big Dick hits the insane Moonsault again. Match #4: The Eliminators vs. Sabu/Rob Van Dam [#1 Contender's Match] THIS WAS AMAZING. I loved the subtle psychology behind how this was worked. In recent matches, both teams have won because opponents focus on only one and the other is always around to make the difference in the end, and they beat MVC and Can-Ams both by narrowly splitting them up long enough to end the match. So early on, you get a lot of close saves and attempts at getting rid of the non-legal man. Elims have tons, TONS, of cool double teams. There's also a little of the classic Tag Team vs. Two Singles Guys story, where they can dominate as a unit, but individually, RVD and Sabu can beat them. It then breaks down completely and is AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING. Tons of lunatic stuff, felt like dudes throwing themselves at opponents in the hopes of something working. Great stuff. They had like 5 minutes of this insane free for all, and then had some good exhaustion selling before the final segment, where they went for pins on everything they could and did tired variations on trying to murder each other with everything. They'd lose some steam at points, but it would always pick back up until the last few minutes, when they were clearly waiting out the clock. The time limit expired at 20 minutes, and the crowd chanted "THREE WAY DANCE!" But nope, Tod Gordon makes a 5 minute overtime! It manages to pick up again AND ANOTHER DIVE TRAIN HAPPENS! Another 5 minutes passes and the crowd still wants a three way. FIVE MORE MINUTES. Sort of. Since it's only three, but hey. SABU FINALLY DOES A TOPE SUICIDA! SABU'S ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES NOW, HE'S WORN BLUE GEAR AND DOES A TOPE SUICIDA AND THROWS A GREAT PUNCH! The "5 minutes" expires and Tod finally just makes it a three way dance. This was like 20 amazing minutes and then 8 average to good ones. Would be an all time classic if it ended at 20:00. *** Match #5: Chris Candido vs. Mikey Whipwreck Awesome match again! Pretty great opening exchange of quick stuff. Mikey got progressively sloppier as this went on, and that dragged it down from being great, sadly. Candido looked awesome though both on offense and bumping around for Mikey. Candido again wins with the Super Powerbomb. **3/4 Match #6: The Gangstas [c] vs. The Eliminators vs. Sabu/Rob Van Dam [ECW Tag Team Championship - Three Way Dance] Hahahaha, they only got 10 minutes of rest. Very very entertaining brawl. Saturn is still a lunatic, Sabu and RVD do stuff, and New Jack is the best. Sabu hurts himself on a dive, SO TAZ COMES OUT TO GO AFTER HIM! NO! RVD SAVES AND STOPS TAZ! FUCK YEAH! RVD gets choked out and Sabu gets beat after TOTAL ELIMINATION~. Except right after, New Jack hits Saturn on the mat with the 187 to win. **1/2 In the ring, Joey Styles puts over all the great athletes in ECW and talks about people who have left like Benoit, Eddie, Dean, and Jericho. Dem four. 2 Cold Scorpio comes out and Joey sucks him off about being the best TV Champion ever and says he's asked for this time to say goodbye to the ECW Arena. This is so sad, knowing what's awaiting him in the WWF. God damnit. Scorpio shakes Joey's hand and plays humble BEFORE SAYING HE'S NOT GOING TO MISS ANY OF THESE MOTHERFUCKERS! YEAH! They finally give someone a proper heel response. Good. Scorpio says he ain't leaving, because he'll wrestle both places. He says he's supposed to pass the torch and do a job, but fuck that, and challenges someone to come out and fight him in a match where the loser is gone from ECW for 15 days, and Devon Storm comes out! Match #7a: 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Devon Storm [Loser Leaves Town for 15 Days] This is a minute, but it's a Scorpio squash, so it rules. He destroys his face with a Superkick and hits the Tumbleweed for the win. * 2 Cold brags about winning and tells Devon Storm to go back to WCW for two weeks. He says let's up the ante and says the next motherfucker to come out has to leave ECW for 30 days if they lose, AND JT SMITH COMES OUT. NO! GODDAMNIT NO! WHY JT SMITH?! USE HACK MYERS OR SOMEONE WHO ISN'T GREAT! Match #7b: 2 Cold Scorpio vs. JT Smith [Loser Leaves Town for 30 Days] JT FIGHTS HARD! FUCK YEAH! JT WITH THE BIG OFFENSE. Buuuuuuuut it's still JT Smith, so he fucks up his Moonsault. Scorp hits a nasty looking Doctor Bomb and wins with a Moonsault. ![]() *3/4 Scorpio can't stop laughing and he asks who wants to double down and make it 60, AND MY WISH IS GRANTED! THAT FUCK HACK MYERS IS OUT! Match #7c: 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Hack Myers [Loser Leaves Town for 60 Days] Scorp makes quick work of this jagaloon and wins with DA DISS DAT DON'T MISS. *1/2 Some wrestlers come out to check on Hack, and Scorpio brags about putting three motherfuckers out of work and tells everybody to watch him tomorrow night at the Survivor Series, and hypes up his elimination match. He then sees Louie Spicolli helping Hack, and challenges him to a match where the loser's gone from ECW for a year! He says Louie can be in the match with him since he'll also be leaving ECW, and Louie says no. Louie accepts the match and Scorp says this won't be long. Match #7d: 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Louie Spicolli [Loser Leaves Town for a Year] This is the closest thing to a real match in all of this since there's actual back and forth, and it's good. Scorpio takes too long celebrating the win before the match is over and going up top, AND LOUIE PULLS HIM OFF AND HITS THE SPICOLLI DRIVER TO WIN! YEAH! ** Louie celebrates to the back. Scorpio is mad, and he gets on the mic. He says he's not leaving and dares anyone to make him, AND TAZ COMES OUT! FUCK YEAH! He says he has two choices, get out while the getting's good, or he can get choked out. Scorpio says he's leaving this Bingo Hall and working bigger arenas for big money, and they can kiss his ass. He leaves, and Taz says goodbye to Flash and says this is his house. BITCH. Taz says he wants that scarred up motherfucker right now, and he's had enough of the games, because it's been a year. He says he won't leave until he comes out and gets the crowd to chant "SABU!" He says he ain't leaving until he gets his ass out here. He calls Bob Artese into the ring and says he has a little respect for him, and warns him what he's getting into. Bob says he was told they have another match. Taz asks if he's telling him to leave, and Bob says it's what he was told, so Taz says "Okay, Bob. Fuck you." nonchalantly and shoves him away. Amazing. He says not to fucking move because he just became his hostage! He calls out Sabu and yells at Bob not to dare move, or he'll break his fucking neck. The Dudleys come out and Taz says the troops have been sent, and Tod Gordon comes out. He says this isn't the time, AND TAZ CHOKES OUT TOD GORDON! YEAH! He leads another "SABU!" and Paul Heyman comes out. He tells the Dudleys to go to the back, and as he talks, Fonzie goes over. PAUL GRABS A CHOKE ON HIM, BUT TAZ THEN HITS PAULIE WITH A T-BONE SUPLEX! TAZ CHOKES OUT PAUL! ![]() ![]() SABU AND TAZ STARE EACH OTHER DOWN! FUCK YEAH! They run at each other and the lights go back out. LAME. THAT WAS PERFECT UNTIL THAT. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME. They're out for a while and yeah. Why not just have a pull apart? Coming back, Raven is in the ring with the BWO, Lori, and Tyler. He says lord knows he's defeated and out fought the best brawlers in this business, but he won't fight his fight. He says tonight, he intends to outwrestle him since he's the single greatest wrestler on the planet. Weird. Match #8: The Sandman [c] vs. Raven w/ The Blue World Order, Lori Fullington, & Tyler Fullington [ECW World Heavyweight Championship] This was great! I think it could have been a classic with a better crowd (should NOT have gone on after Sabu/Taz showdown in retrospect) and some better layout, but hey. Raven spending 75% of this working over the arm was a neat idea, and Sandman's selling was mostly very good. It lost me somewhat in the finishing run, where they went overboard on the cheap stuff, and a hot crowd would have pulled it through, but they lacked that. I don't know if the last segment burned out the crowd or they were confused by legitimate actual limb work, and since there was no highspot or blood or chair or table usage for 10 minutes, ECW fans stopped paying attention because they're mostly fucking barbarians. I don't know. But they weren't hot for the end, and it came off flat as a result. But they picked it up by the last few minutes to do a cool final finishing run of callbacks. Raven misses the loaded boot, and the guardrail fails him as Sandman DDTs him into it in a change of pace to retain! *** Match #9: Tommy Dreamer/Terry Funk vs. Shane Douglas/Brian Lee THIS GOT 26 MINUTES, WHAT THE FUCK?! This was bad as a result. They don't build to it breaking down at all and start that way before settling down. Hate that shit. Dreamer's neck was a focus, and the work on it was decent, but again, far too long. Funk has an AWESOME hot tag, and he is easily the best dude in this. AND AGAIN, THIS IS 26 FUCKING MINUTES, SO THE ENDING RUN DRAGS TOO. This could have been a great 12 minute tag. The last N2R main event also had this problem. A cat fight happens, etc. Funk does insane stuff and kills people with punches. Tommy hits Brian Lee with a TV camera, and Funk hits him with a DDT for the win. FINALLY. ** The heels attack them again after the match, and Pitbull #2 comes out! Oh cool, he's fine. Why'd he wait 26 minutes? He can try and rush Shane before every match when he hurts his partner, but when they actually try and break HIS neck, he can wait 30 minutes? The fuck? Pitbull #2 gets rid of them and poses to end the show. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: The Sandman, Since 10/5/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV November 26th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA The show opens with a Taz recap, and he says it's time for his side of the story. He talks about winning the titles with Sabu at Double Tables, and says he carried Sabu to another belt, and says Sabu is a mark for the belts. Couple of months later, he turned down a Japanese date that was the same night as Three Way Dance. Sabu's going, because it's great money and because Sabu's word means nothing apparently, and he told Paul to fire Sabu, or he's gone. He says he fired Sabu, and he came out to make sure Paul didn't swerve him. He says when he got his neck broken that summer, BECAUSE HE HAD NO PARTNER WATCHING HIS BACK, ECW panicked. Paul listened to the fans and brought Sabu back, and it was a slap in his face. So for one year, he called him out, and he didn't answer because of fear. So this past N2R, everybody asked him why he choked out Van Dam. He says if Sabu had come to him after the draw with The Eliminators and said to let bygones be bygones and FINALLY the two of them go into a three way dance, he would have done it. He stayed with Van Dam, because he gave his word! BECAUSE NOW SABU'S WORD MEANS SOMETHING? Axl vs. SHAH airs. ECW ARENA RETURN - DECEMBER 7TH: -SANDMAN VS. RAVEN FOR THE ECW TITLE IN A BARBED WIRE MATCH -TAZ VS. RVD -SABU VS. SATURN An amazing BWO paid announcement airs. Stevie says they're looking for new talent. Nova is still the worst. In the back, Joey Styles is with Tommy Dreamer and announces Shane/Francine vs. Tommy/Beulah for December 7th in the ECW Arena. Tommy says it's he and his girl against Shane and his bitch, and says what a great way to die. What? Stop this. Stop trying be broody and deep. Scorpio's farewell and the Taz/Sabu segment eats up the last 20 minutes. Awesome. |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: The Sandman, Since 10/5/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV December 3rd, 1996 Lots of Places! Match #1: Rob Van Dam vs. Taz w/ Bill Alfonso This is from Downington, PA. This is short and JIP, but it delivers. BWO are in the crowds and holding up their signs. Taz mostly hurls RVD around and beats the shit out of him. It is good, but too short. Taz refuses to let go of the Tazmission in the ropes. The match never really ends or reaches a decision, because we cut back to Joey as people pull him off. *3/4 Clips air of Candido vs. Mikey, and Joey says Candido stepped in to be Mikey's partner in Webster, MA after Mikey earned his respec. Match #2: The Eliminators vs. Chris Candido/Mikey Whipwreck This was great. Classic tag format with some really cool transition segs, the best of which was Mikey taking a sick table bump off the top to the floor. Eliminators have their usual great control segment. They keep cutting off the tag and knocking Candido out and working over Mikey's arm that got hurt in the fall. Mikey tries to comeback, but they keep catching Candido asleep on the apron. Mikey falls to TOTAL ELIMINATION~ *** Candido storms off. In the back, Candido wanders onto the interview set. He says he came here to help Mikey against the best tag team in wrestling. He said he had them warmed up, and he tagged Mikey in and got killed. He says he didn't come here to lose and asks Joey if he looks okay, because his face hurts. Joey shakes his head and Candido repeats that he didn't come here to lose and says this is ridiculous. Footage airs of the last NRBW match in ECW, Sandman vs. Cactus Jack in the summer of 1995. Footage airs of the history of Beulah vs. Francine, as well as Shane's recent actions. In a pretape, he says it's his fault Shane Douglas injured Pitbull #2. It's his fault he got his hands around Beulah's neck. And it's going to be his fault when Shane Douglas has a broken neck. This incredible video airs of Beulah in slow motion in the gym. All kinds of awesome camera angles. ![]() Match #3: Shane Douglas [c] vs. Tommy Dreamer [ECW Television Championship] Also from Downington and both women are on the floor. This is about three minutes, so whatever. It's decent enough. Tommy sets up some chairs for a move, but Brian Lee comes out and Chokeslams him through them. Shane covers to win. Okay then. *1/2 They go after the neck, and Beulah gets in to try and stop it. Shane grabs her for the Belly to Belly, but Pitbull #2 runs out to save. Another BWO advertisement is set to happen, but Taz comes over and stops it. He tells them to never come out during one of his matches again. Meanie says they meant no disrespect and does it in a normal people voice. Taz slaps the shit out of him and says not to ever talk to him because he doesn't belong in the same arena, company, locker room, or sport as him and calls him a fat piece of shit. Taz repeats not to play during his shit. |

The Sandman [c] vs. Raven [ECW World Heavyweight Championship - NO ROPES BARBED WIRE], Holiday Hell (December 7th) I love this match. First NRBW match I ever saw, and while I hold Corino/Homicide and Jacobs/Whitmer in higher esteem, this holds a special place in my heart. They hit all the great NRBW notes. Avoidance of the wire early on, then slowly adding it into the match. A brawl on the floor, getting strands of wire and using them for stuff, gradual exhaustion selling. By the end, it's got that great "war of attrition" vibe where any move could probably end it. Sandman gets too caught up in trying to hurt Raven, and it costs him when he misses a dive through a table. Raven tries a Piledriver through one in the ring, but it gives out, so Raven hits the Evenflow through one of the sections of the table to regain the belt! ***1/4 |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Raven, Since 12/7/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV December 10th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA The end of Raven/Sandman opens the show. A video airs on the history of the ECW World Title since it became Extreme, set to "Simply the Best", then "Enter the Sandman", then "Say It Ain't So", then "Enter Sandman" again, then "Come Out and Play". ECW ARENA RETURN - JANUARY 11TH! D-Von Dudley and Axl Rotten are in the ring and D-Von calls out The Gangstas, BUT THE BWO COMES OUT! AND STEVIE TOSSES BINGO CARDS TO THE CROWD! STEVIE IS GOD! They get beat down, BUT THE GANGSTAS COME OUT TO SAVE! A MATCH HAPPENS! Match #1: The Gangstas [c] vs. D-Von Dudley/Axl Rotten [ECW Tag Team Championship] This is fun. Mostly a Gangstas squash, but there's a certain charisma about them that makes their stuff work out so well and stand out from a million other weapons brawls. Stevie comes back and hits Axl with the Stevie Kick, and New Jack hits the 187 for the win. *3/4 THE GANGSTAS PUT ON BWO SHIRTS, AND HOLD UP THE X AND POINT TO THEM! THIS, THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT. Joey does a horrible rant on WWF stealing ideas. Shut the fuck up. In a pretape, Shane Douglas and Francine are in front of a Christmas tree. Shane says he envies Pitbull #1 for what he's given of himself. He gave to him to by helping him build his legend back up. As he SITS in his house and has tears in his eyes because he wants to get back in the ring, he has to realize how much he has to be thankful. Because he has memories that he can never take away. Francine kisses him, and Shane says he's got his girl though. The BWO takes over Hype Central, and Stevie yells "BUY THE SHIRT!" over and over again before the ads start. NO REMORSE! In the back, Rob Van Dam says he respects Taz, and after next week, he'll have nothing but respect for Rob Van Dam. This marks the first time RVD pointed to himself during his name. In a pretape, Taz says Rob is in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong man. In the back, Joey says they were supposed to have Chris Candido vs. Louie Spicolli, but Chris Candido comes on the set and says he's got the flu real bad, and he can't wrestle. Joey says Brian Lee will be filling in for him and Candido is immediately fine. He says he's teamed with both of them and he wants to do commentary. Match #2: Louie Spicolli vs. Brian Lee This is okay. Candido carries in commentary, really doing a great job of reigning Joey in. Louie does an awesome job getting the best out of Brian. Big bumps to get over the size, but some great comebacks too. Louie bleeds a TON and really makes this more dramatic and thus better than it had any right to be. Spicolli is blinded by the blood, AND HITS THE REF WITH THE SPICOLLI DRIVER! Candido says he has to go help the ref and he comes out, as Lee eats the Spicolli Driver too, AND CANDIDO ATTACKS ON LOUIE! SHANE DOUGLAS COMES OUT AND PUTS THE REFEREE'S SHIRT ON HIMSELF! Shane fakes a three count after Candido gets taken out. Louie gets up to celebrate, AND SHANE ATTACKS. BOOOOOOOO. SPICOLLI GETS HIM UP FOR THE DVD, BUT LEE HITS THE CHOKESLAM TO WIN! **1/2 They keep beating on him. I feel like this worked better than any of the Shane/Pitbull #2 stuff, since I actually felt sorry for Louie. Since things affected him and he was selling and not kicking out of a fucking military grade arsenal of cheap shots. Speak of the devil, because Pitbull #2 comes out, but Lee and Candido get rid of him. CHOKESLAM THROUGH THE TABLE ON THE FLOOR! FUCK YEAH. EAT SHIT, PITBULL. YOU'RE THE WORST, I HATE YOU. FUCK YEAH BRIAN LEE AND CHRIS CANDIDO! In the back, Joey recaps Raven's title win, but the camera pans down and Raven is sitting on the floor next to him. Raven says he regained his title the same way he's accomplished everything else in his life, by himself. He says he never lost the belt to begin with, and Joey talks about his absence. Raven says he was in rehab for the fifth time in seven years, and Paul and Tod Gordon figured this was a wonderful opportunity from a man with too many personal problems and too much emotional baggage. They knew Stevie couldn't handle The Sandman, and once more, he had the title. He says he got title shots upon his return because it would be big box office, that people would pay to see him, but they thought he had nothing left and he wouldn't win. He's got plenty left, and there's nobody on his planet that can beat him. He screams to bring the legend back, it won't make a difference. There's one man in the entire world who can beat him, and he's been trying ever since he was a small child, and he's never done it. Joey asks if he means Tommy, and Raven says it's himself. Quote the Raven, nevermore. Video highlights air of Raven/Sandman NRBW set to "Keep Em Separated", but as Sandman gets up post-match and leaves, it fades into "Enter Sandman". |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Raven, Since 12/7/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Gangstas, Since 8/3/1996 ECW Hardcore TV December 17th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA Match #1: Tommy Dreamer/Beulah vs. Shane Douglas/Francine This is a match. Shane has good work on the knee for a bit early on, but Tommy doesn't sell it much, so hey whatever. This is clearly about the intergender spots, and those are really entertaining. Francine's tits pop out twice when in position for Tommy's Piledrivers, so that's obviously a highlight. A catfight happens, and Tommy finally hits Francine with a Piledriver. Beulah hits her with a Moonsault, but Shane hits Tommy with a chair and hits Beulah with a Side Belly to Belly and he hilariously hooks both legs to win. **1/2 In a pretape, Shane cuts another overlong promo. DON'T CARE. A video airs of Shane Douglas' 1996 actions set to "The Unforgiven". Match #2: Rob Van Dam vs. Taz w/ Team Taz Great stuff! Taz stretches out RVD, and Van Dam puts on a great fiery babyface performance. The "SABU!" chants enrage Taz and allows RVD an opening to fight back. RVD has some cool stuff on his comeback, and Taz sells the most he has in a match in the last year to put over Van Dam as a future top guy. Some cool spots, but Taz murders him with a German Suplex and puts on the Tazmission. RVD survives for an absurdly long time and Taz keeps hanging on through every attempt at a counter, before he passes out. **3/4 |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Raven, Since 12/7/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Eliminators, Since 12/20/1996 ECW Hardcore TV December 24th, 1996 Philadelphia, PA On December 20th, The Eliminators won the belts back! YEAH! In the ring, Little Guido kicks JT Smith out of the FBI for losing to 2 Cold Scorpio, and introduces his new paisan, David Tyler Mo -- fuck it, DAVEY PAISAN! Match #1: Bubba Ray Dudley/Spike Dudley w/ Sign Guy Dudley vs. Little Guido/Davey Paisan Good Dudleys showcase. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this Bubba/Spike team. This was clipped a lot down from 20 minutes according to Biggie, so thank God. Spike died on bumps, and Guido was solid on offense again. Kash was still awful. Bubba beats Guido with the Bubba Cutter. *1/4 Coming back, Joey Styles is in the ring and he brings out Taz and Bill Alfonso, but Taz snatches the mic away, and says this show is his hostage now. He says he choked out Van Dam, and he wants Sabu, and he won't leave until he gets him. He says he knows he's here, and he calls him out. THE LIGHTS GO OUT AND SABU IS IN! But The Eliminators attack him. Taz gives the order and they hit Total Elimination! Taz leaves, and there is now a random Royal Rumble. Match #2: King of the Hill Battle Royal I don't care. I'll just steal Biggie's review. I'm lazy and want to finish. - The Gangstaz run out and they're in this now too. Taz is escorted to the back by Team Taz. The Eliminators and Gangstaz beat the hell out of each other until the Eliminators take them both out with TOTAL ELIMINATION~ They eliminate Mustafa. They beat down Sabu when he goes to get up. And then they eliminate New Jack. - They continue the 2 on 1 against Sabu until Rob Van Dam bolts out next. The Eliminators hit Sabu with a spike piledriver just as Van Dam enters. RVD holds them off for a bit but the numbers game catches up and they take him down. - Randomly, ECW newcomer Balls Mahoney runs out and starts brawling with Saturn. The 3 babyfaces take control and Spike Dudley's out next and now it's 4 on 2 against the heels. Apparently there's pinfalls in this too because Sabu tries pinning Saturn at one point and gets a 2 count. RVD brawls with Balls and the Eliminators take down both Spike & Sabu. TOTAL ELIMINATION ON SPIKE and he gets pinned to be eliminated. - Little Guido comes out next and goes after Sabu. Buh Buh's out not too long after that and Guido tries to go after him but Buh Buh MURDERS him. Buh Buh hits the Buh Buh bomb and chucks Guido the fuck out. Sabu gets a powerbomb from Balls and RVD kicks Balls out. The Eliminators dump out Van Dam then go to work on Buh Buh. - Chris Candido out next. Stupidly, Sabu gets up and starts helping the heels, putting the Camel Clutch on Buh Buh. Man this isn't ending. Everyone continues brawling, constantly turning on each other, a little too much. - Brian Lee out next and he helps Candido fend off Buh Buh Ray. Lee & Buh Buh have a good big man battle while Saturn continues to kill Sabu. Kronus doesn't pay attention and Candido ends up dumping him out to a big reaction for some reason. PRIMETIME SLAM ON BUH BUH THROUGH A TABLE ON THE OUTSIDE AND HE'S GONE! - Just as Lee & Candido double team Saturn, out runs Shane Douglas next. Candido continues to work on Sabu while Lee beats up Saturn now. Douglas beats up Sabu some then puts the boots to Saturn. Styles reacts to this saying apparently the Eliminators were favorites for the new Triple Threat, but that's a damn lie. Dreamer runs out with weapons and Douglas eliminates himself. Candido beats up Dreamer and Sabu comes out of nowhere with AIR SABU~ onto Brian Lee. - Just when it should probably be over, D-Von Dudley is out next and attacks Dreamer and takes out Sabu as well. Dreamer/D-Von, Lee/Sabu and Candido/Saturn all pair off. The Sandman runs out next and just starts going after everybody. Lee finally eliminates Saturn with a Primetime Slam to the outside. Sabu keeps trying to pin D-Von to eliminate him to no avail. - Louie Spicolli out next and he immediately dumps over Candido! Candido is furious and tries to get back in but the refs drag him away. - Dreamer goes on a roll against D-Von and runs towards Lee but Lee back body drops him over to eliminate him. - Spicolli jumps on Lee's back and rides him around to wear him down but Lee dumps him over the top to take him out too. - The bWo out next (and I think/hope last). D-Von goes at Stevie but Stevie ducks him and Stevie Kicks him over the top. Sandman gets a Stevie Kick too and the bWo dogpiles Sandman. Lee continues to kill Sabu. - Sandman & Stevie fight while Meanie & Nova pose to Lee out of a sign of friendship because apparently Lee is in both Raven's Nest and the Triple Threat which...why? Lee clotheslines Meanie & Nova out. - Stevie kicks Sandman's head off again and turns to Lee, making the same mistake his friends did, and Lee attacks him and throws him over too. - Lee brawls with Sandman briefly before fallaway slamming him over the top AND SABU WITH THE TRIPLE JUMP LEGDROP TO ELIMINATE LEE AND SABU WINS UH...SOMETHING. *3/4 Clips air of The Eliminators winning the tag titles to end the show. |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Raven, Since 12/7/1996 ECW Television Champion: Shane Douglas, Since 7/13/1996 - LONGEST REIGNING CHAMPION CURRENTLY ECW Tag Team Champions: The Eliminators, Since 12/20/1996 ECW Hardcore TV December 31st, 1996 Many Places Clips air of the end of the Elims/Gangstas title switch. Post-match, The Gangstas finally showed some kind of respect by handing the belts over to The Eliminators, and Mustafa looks legit pissed off. What a mark. He doesn't get it! Are the Eliminators babyfaces again? I don't know what they are anymore. A recap airs of the formation of Triple Threat 2.0. JANUARY 11TH - ECW ARENA: -SHANE DOUGLAS VS. TOMMY DREAMER FOR THE TV TITLE -CANDIDO VS. SPICOLLI! FUCK YEAH! Match #1: Rob Van Dam vs. Chris Candido This is from Allentown. This kind of blew. It wasn't bad, but it was upsetting. They try and do this big high flying all over the place fast paced match, and fuck up tons of stuff and get caught waiting around for moves. If they just worked a normal match, it could have been great, but nope. A ref bump happens, and Shane Douglas comes out to give Chris a chain, and he hits RVD with it. BUT SPICOLLI COMES OUT AND HITS SHANE! HE TAKES THE REF SHIRT AND PULLS THE REVERSAL OF HOLIDAY HELL! Candido tries to get the ref up now, BUT IT'S LOUIE, AND HE HITS THE SPICOLLI DRIVER! YEAH! RVD hits the Split Legged Moonsault to win. ** Another Sabu/Taz video airs. In a pretape, Taz said he showed Van Dam respect by releasing the hold after the match, but now he's going to show him disrespect. I felt like their second match was pretty much the story they needed to tell, with no room left for another one. In the back, Joey Styles announces that in 1997, Terry Funk is going to make one last run. AHAHAHAHA, OKAY. He says he's going to face Brian Lee in his first match back at the ECW Arena. HEY GUESS WHAT? ANOTHER SHANE/PITBULLS VIDEO. About 30 seconds airs of a Raven/Mikey match where Raven wins with the Evenflow. Looked to be a great Champion vs. Midcarder on TV match, like Flair vs. Pillman in 1990 or something like that. The Sandman runs out to attack, but Raven catches him with the Evenflow. Lori canes him, but Mikey gets up to help! Sandman sneaks up with a low blow to Raven, and he hits a DDT! AND SANDMAN STEALS THE TITLE AND LEAVES! |

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: 1995: The Sandman This changed a lot. Raven had it in the first half because he worked more than anyone, although Scorpio briefly took over at points. It looked like Shane Douglas would undeservedly take this due to his great May - July shooting him up top and him working a lot while some other top guys didn't in the last few months, but N2R changed that by allowing this man to firmly remain #1 after getting there in the fall. ![]() 1.
