TONIGHT: SLATER VS. GABRIEL!

Match #1: Tamina Snuka vs. Kaitlyn
This is a solid power match again. Like always, Tamina wins with the Superfly Splash.
*1/2

RAW MEMORY: Jericho's debut

BIG E. LANGSTON IS COMING.

Match #2: Jinder Mahal vs. Percy Watson
Oh my god, SO BAD. Percy is useless and Jinder is even worse. Jinder wins again with the Camel Clutch.
45/Dog Poop

Match #3: Richie Steamboat vs. Leo Kruger

Very very impressive four minutes, and Kruger showed a lot more here than in his squash. Some great use of the ring as a weapon, including a really cool schoolboy near the corner that sent Richie's head into the bottom turnbuckle. He rolls through a Crossbody for the win.
**

A video for Raquel Diaz airs, and this is Eddie's daughter. It's pretty terrible though, some bullshit The Beautiful People vs. Lady Gaga thing. She's the Ultra Diva, and will exfoliate ugliness, etc.

Match #3: Raquel Diaz vs. Paige
This wasn't bad though, but that might just be because Paige looked great in the ring. Diaz wins with the Gory Bomb. WHY ARE YOU USING CHAVO'S MOVE?!
*

Match #4: Justin Gabriel vs. Heath Slater

They got something like nine or ten minutes, so this was very good. Good matwork and opening work before Gabriel takes a nasty bump off the top to the floor. Slater didn't light the world on fire with his control segment, but it was hardly bad. Some good hope spots and cut offs, and they had a quality finishing run. Gabriel wins with the Phenomenon DDT, which was weird.

Rey Mysterio comes out for the hometown pop. He says he's been gone almost a year, but he never lost hope, and now he's made his way back home, to the WWE ring, Smackdown, and especially here in the 6! 1! 9! ADR comes out and says he made a mistake coming back, because he'll take him out again and end his career for good this time. ADR tells him to leave right now, because he wants to talk about Sheamus and what he did, and Rey says all he did was kick his face in. ADR says his return is going to be short after all, and Dolph Ziggler comes out. He says if his career's going to be ruined by the next World Champion, then he guesses he has to do it. He says he would be champion right now if not for ADR, and ADR says he won't do the dirty job. Anyways, at some point Sheamus comes out and then tag team match in the main event.

Match #1: Kofi Kingston/R-Truth/The Colons vs. The Prime Time Players/Hunico/Camacho
Rosa and AW are ringside. This got 9 full minutes AND FUCKING RULED. Kofi and Truth were barely in there, which is why. The first half is all Colons vs. Hunico and Camacho, and Primo/Hunico is the best vaguely lucha match you're going to get on WWE TV at this point. Insanely smooth. Camacho breaks out a sweet Double A Spinebuster. PTP gets in when Kofi gets isolated and they have some cool stuff. Kofi gets the hot tag back to Primo without any offense, which is the perfect use of him. He has a great hot tag, and Truth and Epico go to fight the other brown people on the floor. Titus shoves Primo off the top though AND INTO THE DEATH BY RODERICK FROM D-YOUNG FOR THE WIN! This is what happens when you give talented undercarders time!
***

Almost as a way of WWE saying "fuck you" to everyone involved, The Big Show comes out and destroys all the babyfaces and then Hunico and Camacho too, but PTP and Abe manage to run to the back.

RAW MEMORY: Jeremy Piven hosts

RAW REBOUND!

Match #2: Damien Sandow vs. Zack Ryder
Total squash, but it was Sandow's most violent one yet, so I really liked it. Lots of nasty elbows and knees, and the Straightjacket Neckbreaker gets him the win.
*3/4

The Peep Show is up, and Christian shows clips of the Daniel Bryan & AJ proposal and engagement, before he brings out Daniel Bryan and AJ as his guests on the show. They play a clip of them planning their wedding and it has Daniel acting completely over the top and giving AJ a rose at every location where they're planning the wedding. Christian asks if this is true love, and they both say yes. YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Christian then asks the peeps some questions and asks them if this is a good idea, and the people say no. He asks them if AJ what she's doing, and they say no. He asks AJ this, so she slaps him. They go to leave, and Christian says he's a married man, so he'll let that go because he knows how nerves go. He says Daniel has a match tonight though, so he can't leave, and brings out Kane as his opponent!

Match #3: Daniel Bryan vs. Kane
This happens for like 5 minutes, and AJ jumps on Kane's back to stop a Chokeslam for the DQ.
*3/4

Both Daniel and AJ run away.

RAW MEMORY: THE ONE MAN BAND BABY

Heath Slater is in the ring and says his luck is about to change, but then Road Warrior Animal comes out. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. WHY'D THE GOOD ONE DIE?

Match #4: Animal vs. Heath Slater
This happens. Animal wins with a Powerslam and an elbow drop. Cole says maybe Slater needs some other band members...
3/4*

They run down the Raw 1000 card again. Not so much a card since there's one actual match announced, but lots of segments.

Match #5: Sheamus/Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio/Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero
This gets between 10-15 minutes, so again, they get a chance here. Not great though, since the Sheamus match ups in this are not great. Ziggler and Sheamus are getting better, and Sheamus/ADR is just fucking beyond boring. Rey vs. both guys is really good though. He doesn't look totally exposed yet, and Rey/Ziggler is still just out of this world great. Ricardo grabs Sheamus' leg in the corner to stop the Brogue Kick and because the referees are cowards, that's a DQ. AWFUL FINISH.
**1/2[/]

ADR puts on the Cross Armbreaker and referees have to pull him off. Ziggler tries to cash in, but Rey stops him and hits the 619. AND HEY, SHEAMUS IS FINE AGAIN AND HITS DOLPH WITH THE BROGUE KICK. FUCK EVERYTHING.

WWE RAW 1000
JULY 23RD, 2012
ST. LOUIS, MO

THEN. NOW. FART.

Vince McMahon comes out to open the show and he thanks everyone before bringing out D-Generation X. Triple H and Shawn Michaels come out to do their shtick and hey, whatever. Lawler tries to claim that DX brought the Attitude Era to the WWE, and oh my god, wipe the fucking cum off of your chin before you go on the air. Triple H rightfully stops and asks if there used to be more of them, AND ACTUAL DX COMES OUT! YEAH!

Posted Image

X-PAC AND THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS COME OUT, AND DX FINALLY HAS IT'S BACKBONE! YEAH! Road Dogg does the full intro and I know DX was Shawn and Triple H's invention, but I started watching in 1998, so X-Pac and the Outlaws are the real DX in my brain. Gunn and Shawn get to argue about who says it's time to suck it, and Triple H says to let Shawn do it, or he'll lose his smile and pose for Playgirl again. They all agree to do it, but Damien Sandow comes out! He says they have disintegrated to listening to self-professed degenerates with their crude and crass conduct. Sandow says if they disposed of him like common trash, they would only make him a martyr, and Triple H says he's right, so they need to discuss it. DX has a huddle, and then he gets hit with the Superkick and Pedigree. I can't believe that killed 20 minutes, that was so much fun.

Posted Image

JR comes out to do guest commentary for the next match only, because the WWE is still fundamentally broken.

Match #1: Sheamus/Rey Mysterio/Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio/Dolph Ziggler/Chris Jericho w/ Vickie Guerrero
This was all of four minutes, so whatever. Ziggler looks decent, but then predictably shoves Jericho off the top. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick to win.
*1/2

USE TOUT.

Charlie Sheen tweets stuff and is on webcam. Nobody gives a shit, stop starfucking.

In the back, Layla asks AJ if she's sure about this, and AJ asks why everyone thinks she's unstable, and this entire place is insane. She opens the door and Jim Duggan walks by and lets out a HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Roddy Piper and Truth then play jumprope with Little Jimmy before they leave. Layla says that's an invisible child and AJ asks how she can see him then. AND THEN?

Posted Image

MAE YOUNG AND HER SON, HAND, ARE HERE! THE BEST. Somehow that weirds Layla out, so she wishes AJ luck and leaves.

Match #2: Brodus Clay w/ The Funkadactyls vs. Jack Swagger
This is 15 seconds before Brodus wins with the Big Splash.
45/Poop

Brodus then brings out Dude Love to dance.

In the back, Trish tries to teach Triple H how to do yoga, but DX walks in when he is bent over with Trish standing behind him. Callback! Awesome. Road Dogg makes buttsex jokes, and they all leave. But X-Pac stays to hit on Trish in the most hilariously awkward fashion possible.

The wedding is set up now, and Lawler introduces REV. SLICK TO OVERSEE THE WEDDING! YEAH! Daniel Bryan comes out to his own entrance music, and then AJ comes out to the usual song. The crowd "WHAT"'s the vows because St. Louis is a horrible city. They both say yes, and AJ says it over and over again. Slick is about to pronounce them, but AJ says she wasn't saying yes to Daniel. She was saying yes to another proposal made to her by another man tonight, and Vince McMahon comes out! He says it wasn't THAT kind of a proposal, so Daniel can relax, but it was a business proposition. AND AJ IS THE NEW GENERAL MANAGER WHAT THE FUCK? She skips around Daniel and leaves him alone in the ring, so he wrecks the wedding set.

Coming back, referees try to get Bryan out of the ring, but Bryan refuses and keeps yelling no. CM Punk comes out, and he gets on the mic. He says he didn't come out here to rub it in his face, but he did just get stood up. He says they're all in shock that AJ wouldn't want to marry such a nice guy, and AJ as the GM can't bode well for his future. He says he can continue throwing a fit, and he'll continue being WWE Champion and the best in the world. Daniel says he's not even the best wrestler in this ring, and says he's the greatest of all time, and The Rock comes out! Finally, he has come back, etc. This is entirely surreal. The Rock is in the ring with fucking Punk and Danielson.

Posted Image

Daniel cuts off The Rock, but Rock says no. He says he's not here to talk to Frodo, he's here talk about the WWE Championship. He says he just got word that at the Royal Rumble, he's fighting whoever the WWE Champion is for the title. Punk says that's good news for both of them, because he'll fill in the blank for him. Whoever? No, you're looking at who the WWE Champion will be. He says he's going to beat John Cena tonight, and then he's going to beat The Rock. Rock says he won his first WWE Title here in St. Louis, and at the Rumble, he was going to beat CM Punk. Bryan bursts in with a NO and says this is supposed to be about him, and was supposed to be the greatest night of his life. He says he will fight Rocky somehow and he will be the face of the WWE. Rock says he's what happens when a homeless lumberjack bangs an Oompa Loompa. Rock says he came to Punk, and wishes him luck, but says he got Daniel a wedding gift anyways. He hits him with the Rock Bottom, and Punk does not look impressed.

Bret Hart comes out to be the guest ring announcer.

Match #3: Christian [c] vs. The Miz [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
This is 7 minutes, but butchered by a commercial, so it's only like 4 minutes because this is not a wrestling episode. Christian does the best he can to carry Miz, but Miz isn't even trying to be a decent wrestler anymore. Christian guides this sack of shit, and then has to put him over. Miz wins the title and ruins the IC Title from this point until the present time with the Skull Crushing Finale.
**

Triple H comes out for his less interesting segment, and he gets on the mic. He calls Brock out, but Paul Heyman comes out. Triple H says he wants the horse's head, not the horse's ass, and Paul says he's glad Triple H still knows how to negotiate properly. Paul says his client is here tonight and has authorized him to answer his question right now. Brock Lesnar's answer is no. Triple H says he can go find Brock instead, and Paul says he already has two lawsuits and asks if that's what's "best for business". H asks why Brock can't even come out and say no to his face and asks if Brock is a coward and a bully or if he's a man. Paul asks if he's resorting to name calling now, and asks if he teaches his kids to do the same, so H gets mad and says to not talk about his family. Paul says he feels sorry for his childrens and asks if he's heard the line about the sins of the father, and Stephanie comes out to be a cunt. SHOVEL LADY. She says this is about Paul masking his failures at WCW and ECW as a businessman. She says Paul considers himself a visionary, but her father is miles ahead of Paul at everything he's ever done. Paul just smiles at her like the god damned idiot she is and asks if they're going to talk about daddy now, and she gets mad for some reason, despite being the one to bring up her dad. Stephanie says their kids will be proud of their dad and grand dad, but Paul's kids will be ashamed to be his kids. OH WHAT, HE CAN'T TALK ABOUT YOUR KIDS EVEN IN PASSING, BUT YOU CAN OUTRIGHT SHIT ON PAUL'S?! She then slaps him because she's the most loathsome person in the WWE. Paul asks if they want it this bad, and say they've got it at SummerSlam! He then applauds and asks if this is the example she wants to set for her kids, and she attacks again because this feud is terrible. Brock finally comes out and they have a good fight, but Triple H drives out Brock. I hate this feud. Not even the match it leads to, because it's WWE so you know Triple H would find a way to put himself in against a hot act like Brock, but just this feud. They get it in the second leg of this in 2013, but they completely refuse to book this as what it is, which is an unstoppable killing machine vs. a past his prime part-time former asskicker. They try to book it as a match of equals at this point, and just...no. Terrible stuff. So disappointing.

USE TOUT.

RAW MEMORY: The first ever Stunner to Vince

Howard Finkel is the guest announcer for the next match!

Heath Slater comes out and challenges any Raw legend to a No DQ No Count Out match, and Lita comes out to be his opponent! He can't stop laughing, and hey, god damn, Lita. She says she brought some protection tonight, AND OH FUCK!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Match #4: Heath Slater vs. Lita [No DQ]
Slater tries to leave, BUT SID, VADER, DOINK, DDP, BACKLUND, ANIMAL, AND RIKISHI COME OUT TO STOP HIM! He slides back into the Twist of Fate, AND THEN THE GOD DAMN CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL. YEAH! Lita wins with the Moonsault.
FUCK YEAH

Simmons then gives a "DAMN."

In the back, Daniel Bryan shits on Charlie Sheen and HEY DON'T CARE NOTHING EVER HAPPENS WITH THIS.

RAW MEMORY: Lots of catchphrases

In the back, The Rock wishes John Cena luck. Cena says he'll see him at the Rumble. I wish.

Kane is supposed to fight Jinder Mahal, but he brings out Reks, Hawkins, Drew Mac, Hunico, and Camacho to help him attack Kane. BUT NEVERMIND THAT SHIT.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

More Charlie Sheen faggotry.

A poll shows that 55% of people want Rock/Punk at the Rumble.

Match #5: CM Punk [c] vs. John Cena [WWE Championship]
It's these two for 11 minutes, so it's very good. They don't put out their best, but it's the best main event match in the WWE. Great matworks again, awesome strikes, good counters, etc. This match is a little upsetting because for all their work a year ago to work the matches in such a way to put these men as equals, this match goes out of its way to put Cena back above Punk. He hangs with him on the mat, overpowers him, and gets a visual pin when the ref is down off of the FU. Big Show comes down and KO Punches Cena and leaves. Punk is conflicted about it, but after thinking about it, he tries the pin, but Cena kicks out of that too somehow. Cena catches the leg on the GTS and puts on the STFU, but Show comes back out to break it up for the DQ.
**3/4

Show attacks Cena, and Punk rolls out. He watches, but Cena didn't exactly run right down to save him last week either. The Rock runs out instead, and he cleans house on Big Show. He hits the Pinebuster and runs off for the People's Elbow...

Posted Image

BUT PUNK FLOORS HIM WITH A CLOTHESLINE! YEAH! PUNK HITS ROCKY WITH THE GTS.

Posted Image

Posted Image

In the long run, we realize this is done because WWE refuses to push Punk as the #1 face despite getting stronger reactions than the actual #1 face, so he decides to be the #1 heel instead. It also frustratingly guarantees Rock/Cena II now, which...ugh. I don't need to talk about that for another year though, thankfully. Problem becomes that because this is a turn that nobody really wants, it's rare that he actually gets booed like a top heel. Doesn't help that in the coming months, his opponents are usually more heelish than he is. But in this moment, it was a pretty great angle.

TONIGHT: DREW MAC VS. SETH ROLLINS

Match #1: Derrick Bateman/Bo Dallas vs. Johnny Curtis/Michael McGillicutty
Regal again puts over Bo's smile in a really weird fashion. This is like 95% Bo, so this was a shitty match. Disappointing. Bateman gets in, but is almost immediately tripped up by Mike, and Curtis hits the Falcon Arrow, AND THE DEAL IS DONE.
3/4*

Bo looks pissed at Bateman for losing. Fuck you.

Match #2: Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana vs. Alex Riley
Cesaro does what he can with A-Ri, and this is basically a showcase for him, but A-Ri was pretty terrible at taking his offense and coming back. He's regressed so much from sort of improving earlier in the year. Anyways, Claudio wins with the Neutralizer.
*3/4

In the back, Briley interviews Kassius Ohno. He says there's some athletic guys here, but something's missing. The element of danger, which is what he brings. He says he knocks people out, and he IS the danger. He says he's the most dangerous man in sports entertainment, and he enjoys it. He's Kassius, and he hurts people.

Match #3: Natalya vs. Sofia Cortez
Basically a Nattie showcase, since Cortez is awful. Natalya guides her through matwork and then just leaves the ring to take a count out loss.
*1/2

Natalya then gets back in and puts Cortez in the Sharpshooter just because. Not sure where this is going.

RAW REBOUND!

Match #4: The Ascension vs. Garrett Dylan/Dante Dash
Another awful Ascension squash. They are the worst.
1/2*

BIG E LANGSTON.

Match #5: Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins
Really good for 6 minutes. Drew gets the best match yet out of Rollins, and uses the ring for all his Finlay-ish spots. Great bumping and selling too, and he didn't let Rollins do anything stupid or contrived. Drew avoids the Lionsault, but Rollins lands on his feet. Drew kicks his knee out and hits a nasty kick to the face before hitting the Future Shock DDT to win.

TONIGHT: BRYAN VS. REY VS. KANE VS. ADR IN A #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH

Match #1: The Miz [c] vs. Christian [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
Christian carries him again. They get 10 minutes this time, and do a lot of good stuff, but it's not great as a whole. Christian generally lets Miz do what he wants on offense and instead of feeding an opponent an arm or something like he usually does to go to limbwork, he doesn't do that, so Miz just sort of fucks around with a lack of focus because he's not a very good wrestler. So they don't have that great limbwork to keep going back to, and it suffers. Christian guides Miz through a finishing run, and then loses to a schoolboy with the tights.
**1/2

Match #2: Ryback vs. Jinder Mahal

Decent Ryback squash. Jinder gets some offense, which is too much for him to get against anyone because he's really really bad at being a pro wrestler. Ryback eventually wins when Jinder runs away for a count out loss.
*1/4

The ending of Punk/Cena and the post-match angle is shown.

USE TOUT.

In the back, Sheamus talks to Bryan and asks how it's goin, fella. Bryan is mad, and Sheamus says he knows he's having a bad week, and Bryan says he's not done with AJ, and the Rock attacked him and left for six months like a coward. Sheamus says he got him a present for his wedding, but he'll give it to him now. He hands him a box and leaves. Bryan says this is a horrible wrapping job, and then throws the present down and leaves. It's a framed picture of the Brogue Kick from WrestleMania. Holy shit, what a complete asshole. Bryan got left at the altar and cheap shotted after finding out his ex-fiancee is now going to be his boss, and this fucking prick gives him a reminder of the moment that started his decline in the first place!

Match #3: Sheamus vs. Cody Rhodes
Cody's now stopped trying to do anything interesting, so he's token midcard heel job fodder now. Sheamus takes a great bump off the apron to transition to Cody's offense. His arm is hurt, and Dolph Ziggler comes out! Coming back from the break, Ziggler is just watching at ringside. Sheamus keeps selling his arm, but Cody refuses to work on it. He just does solid other general stuff before Sheamus fights back. Sheamus wins with White Noise and the Brogue Kick.
**1/4

Chris Jericho runs out to slide Ziggler into the ring, and Sheamus hits him with the Brogue Kick too. Jericho has Ziggler's t-shirt on, and Sheamus leaves. Jericho takes his time getting in as Ziggler gets up, and he hits him with the Code Breaker.

Match #4: Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana
Really good 2 minutes. Claudio has some fun strikes, breaks out the Deadlift Gutwrench Suplex, etc. He avoids the Cobra, AND WINS WITH THE NEUTRALIZER! YEAH! CLAUDIO PUSH BEGINS!
*3/4

The ending of the H/Brock seg airs.

Match #5: Damien Sandow vs. Yoshi Tatsu
This was under 90 seconds, but still a great violent squash by Sandow. Straightjacket Neckbreaker gives him the win.
*1/2

Match #6: Daniel Bryan vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Alberto Del Rio [#1 Contender's Match]

Bryan did his best, but Kane and ADR weren't caring, and Rey is a shell at this point. Still, some really good stuff when Bryan was able to get alone with people. Unfortunately, most of the middle of this was Kane vs. Rey, which is one of the worst match ups WWE has in its pocket. Rey hits ADR and Bryan with a Double 619 and hits Bryan with the Penguin Splash. Ricardo pulls Rey out though and ADR covers Bryan to win. UGH GOD DAMNIT. STOP IT.

CM Punk comes out to a mixed reaction but still a pretty positive one, and gets on the mic. He says everyone wants their WrestleMania moment, and last week, he had himself a Raw Moment that was bigger than most people's WrestleMania moments. He says he wants to bring to your attention the way Raw 1000 went off the air, because he was uncomfortable with it. He says Jerry Lawler told everyone that he turned his back on the WWE Universe, and that left a bad taste in his mouth. Punk leaves the ring and sits on the announce table and says he's used to bad hyperbole on commentary, but that was horrible how he jumped to that conclusion. He says The Rock is NOT the WWE Universe, he's one man. He's a larger than life charismatic movie star who showed the WWE Champion an incredible lack of respect. He says he shouldn't have interrupted him, and acted like he wasn't even in the ring, and like he was just going to come to the Royal Rumble and take his title. He repaid him his lack of disrespect and showed him what he's dealing with at the Royal Rumble, because this isn't a popularity contest or a movie, it's the WWE and HE is its champion. So he can say what he wants, but Raw 1000 ended the way every episode of Raw should end, with the focus on the WWE Champion. That's all pretty fair. The Big Show comes out, and Punk gets into the ring. Big Show says history will show that Raw 1000 was about him costing John Cena the title. Hahahaha okay. Show says he's the reason Punk is still WWE Champion and he vows to be the next WWE Champion. Punk says Show can't buy a win when it matters, but he always pulls it out. John Cena comes out and urns off The Big Show. Punk looks annoyed again, and AJ comes out to be GM. She books Cena vs. Big Show in a #1 Contender's Match tonight.

Match #1: Alberto Del Rio vs. Santino Marella
This gets 7 minutes, but at least it's cut down to 3-4 by a commercial. Basic ADR squash so they can desperately try to get this motherfucker over because he's one of their chosen ones and they don't give up on people anymore when they don't work out. Cross Armbreaker ends it.
*1/4

Post-match, ADR gets on the mic. He says this was beneath him, and he's done wrestling until it's for the World Title. Good, fuck you, leave.

In the back, Bryan tries to work up the guts to go into AJ's office.

featured an in-ring segment in which Vickie Guerrero interrupted Brodus Clay and his dancers and mocked Cameron and Naomi before doing her own dance; Damien Sandow then interrupted and showed a clip of what happened to him the previous week at the hands of DX before jumping Clay and targetting his knee
a
TONIGHT: FUCKING VITAMIN C VS. ZIGGLER/MIZ! HOLY SHIT YEAH!

In the back, Bryan finally goes into AJ's office and is mad. She taunts him about being his boss and says she thinks she saw white coats backstage from a mental hospital, and she thinks he was marrying her so he could have her legally committed. Daniel says they were his groomsmen, and she books him vs. Sheamus tonight. He asks if it's a title match, so she keeps saying no.

A recap airs of that awful H/Bork segment from last week.

BAH GAWD RAW ACTIVE USE HASHTAGS. The plebeians vote for a Street Fight.

Before the match, Bryan gets on the mic and tells everyone to stop chanting yes, because only he has the right. They YES anyways, so he starts yelling NO and STOP IT.

Match #2: Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus [Street Fight]
This was really fucking great. Bryan and Sheamus beat the shit out of each other and use the match rules to do lots of cool shit including a dropkick to send Sheamus off the stage and then the Flying Knee off the stage. They use a chair and kendo stick inside the ring for some really nice spots too, and then the steps come in. Sheamus hits a disgustingly great Fallaway Slam into the barricade, and then a little bit later on, he hits the Brogue Kick onto the bottom part of the steps to win.
***1/4

Coming back from break, Daniel refuses to leave the ring and white coats come out. AJ says they're to take Daniel away for a psychiatric evaluation. :(

ON FRIDAY: VINCE NAMES THE NEW SD GM! YES!

USE TOUT.

Match #3: Titus O'Neil vs. Kofi Kingston
Abe, D-Young, and Truth are on the floor. This is short at some 2 minutes and super short and only notable for Abe at ringside on his mic saying Titus is unstoppable like Kobe Bryant a hotel in Colorado. BYE ABE! His mic is cut off immediately and Cole apologizes for that. Abe throws his shoe as a distraction and Titus wins with the Clash of the Titus.
*1/4

In the back, CM Punk finds John Cena and says he wants to clear the air. He says last week, he knows Cena would have taken the cover like he did, and he hopes he doesn't hold that against him. He says he's not here to wish him luck or to wish Big Show luck, because neither of them need it and he'll be happy fighting either one. He says he knows Cena respect him and his honesty, and he'll be honest right now, he hopes Cena doesn't hold it against him that he made more of a statement against The Rock in one night than Cena did in a year. He pats Cena on the arm, and leaves, and Cena is mad for some reason.

Heath Slater is in the ring and he challenges any CURRENT WWE superstar, and UGH. RANDY ORTON'S BACK.

Match #4: Randy Orton vs. Heath Slater
Orton wins in like a minute. :(
*

In the back, a doctor talks to Daniel Bryan. He answers yes to basic questions about his identity and just starts yelling YES at him.

Match #5: Chris Jericho/Christian vs. Dolph Ziggler/The Miz w/ Vickie Guerrero
Solid, but not great. Jericho and Miz weigh this down with a lack of trying o having it anymore in Jericho's case and general incompetency in Miz's case. Jericho beats Miz with the Code Breaker.
**1/2

Ziggler lays out Jericho with the briefcase.

In the back, Daniel yells at the doctor and complains about goatfaces on the ink blot, and says Charlie Sheen put him up to this, and he's not a goatface.

Match #6: Tensai vs. Tyson Kidd
AWESOME 2 minute Tensai squash. He wins with the Back Senton.
**

Tensai keeps up on the attack, and the referee reverses the decision so Kidd wins! YEAH!

In the back, the doctor lets Daniel go, but Kane comes in. He says he's his therapist now and throws him into the wall a lot.

ANOTHER BORK/H RECAP. IT'S THE SAME ONE THEY SHOWED EARLIER.

CM Punk comes out to do commentary.

Match #7: John Cena vs. The Big Show [#1 Contender's Match]
Punk steals this on commentary and says he's here to make sure they're unbiased. Lawler goes from subtly shitting on him and Punk tries to call the match, but as it goes on, he gets worse. Punk defends himself and says the WWE Champion is logically the best wrestler in the company and should be the focus, which a totally irrefutable point. Lawler says he can respect the title but not the champion, so now he's outright shitting on him while also evading Punk's rock solid argument. As for the match, whatever, you've seen this before. Show throws Cena into Punk on the floor and later on, when Cena has Show up for the FU, Punk gets in and hits Show with the belt. He falls onto Cena, and the ref calls it.
*3/4

Punk leaves, but AJ comes out and makes a three way at SummerSlam. He is mad.

WWE NXT
August 1st, 2012

Dusty Rhodes is on the stage and says NXT needs that guy at the top and they're going to determine the first ever NXT Champion with what he calls a Gold Rush Tournament. He says the eight men in it are Richie Steamboat, Bo Dallas, Leo Kruger, Seth Rollins, Michael McGillicutty, Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, and Justin Gabriel! He says that tournament begins right now!

Match #1: Richie Steamboat vs. Leo Kruger [NXT Championship Tournament - Quarterfinals]
Man, this was disappointing. Kruger showed a lot in their last match, but it was apparently a fucking mirage, since he's a generic WWE hoss here. Lots of clubbering and stomps and nothing at all that stuck out and looked good. Steamboat sold well and again had some sweet chops, but he cannot carry this guy yet. He wins with the Sling Blade though, thankfully, so Leo will not advance.
*1/2

Match #2: Big E. Langston vs. Adam Mercer

FUCK YEAH BIG E. Awesome debut squash. Super vicious and intense strikes and power offense, before he gets the three count with the Big Ending.
*3/4

Match #3: Raquel Diaz vs. Audrey Marie

<3 Audrey Marie. DAT ASS. Eddie's kid is still not very good. Audrey is actually pretty decent though and loses to the Gory Bomb.
3/4*

Post-match, Diaz takes out lipstick and writes L on Audrey's forehead.

Match #4: Hunico/Camacho vs. Mike Dalton/Jason Jordan
HUNICO AND CAMACHO SQUASH!? AWESOME! Good stuff here. Dalton was also impressive with his selling, and seemed generally competent. Hunico was the best as usual, and he shoots Dalton up, BUT HE GETS CAMACHO WITH A HURACANRANA FOR THE WIN! WHOA!
**

Match #5: Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins [NXT Championship Tournament - Quarterfinals]

This was great! Drew basically drags Tyler to a textbook Drew Mac Superstars Match. Drew hits hard and uses the apron and steps to isolate a body part. He works on the arm with all kinds of cool and varied types of attacks, and then takes huge bumps on the comeback. Tyler sort of sells his arm, but more importantly, he doesn't outright no sell it, which is a great step for him. Then he pussies out on a Tope Suicida and does it safely, so I hate him again. They play on the finish from their first match, but now Seth avoids the kick and hits the Blackout to win.

WWE Smackdown
August 3rd, 2012
Indianapolis, IN

featured an opening in-ring segment in which Vince McMahon discussed his search for a Smackdown general manager and then introduced Booker T as the new GM; after Booker appeared and took the mic, he thanked McMahon and the board of directors before then being interrupted by Alberto Del Rio; ADR then started speaking about he and Booker would be working together, with Booker cutting him off and saying ADR was trying to suck up to him and needed to do a better job at it; the two then discussed World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus; Sheamus then walked out, congratulated Booker, and responded to Del Rio's comments; Booker then told the two they would be in matches later in the show, with ADR responding that he wouldn't wrestle until Summer Slam; Booker then said he was the boss, ADR would compete, and it would be against Randy Orton; after ADR left the ring, Booker introduced Tensai as his opponent for the opening match

BOOKER'S OFF COMMENTARY! YEAH! I WIN.

Match #1: Sheamus vs. Tensai w/ Sakamoto

This gets 10 minutes, so it was great. WWE is working HARD to stuff the ballot for Sheamus in WOTY this year by giving him 10 minutes twice a week against great wrestlers. Almost paid off for Randy Orton last year, but Sheamus isn't quite as good or motivated as 2011 Orton was. This isn't as good as their awesome Raw match, since they waste too much time early on before it picks up. Also, Tensai no longer cares now like he did a few months prior. They did some cool stuff in the final minutes, and Sheamus wins with the Brogue Kick.
**1/2

In the back, Eve sucks up to Booker T and says she was a valuable asset to Mr. Laurinaitis and asks what positions are open. Teddy comes in and congratulates Booker. Booker says he's got big shoes to fill and he wants him on his staff. Teddy says he can handle it, and Booker says he needs him as his adviser, and Teddy takes it. Eve is mad, and Booker says he'll let her know if anything comes up.

Before his match, Cesaro says "hello" in five different languages.

Match #2: Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana
This is a fun two and a half minutes. Claudio breaks out the power spots, Aksana is a distraction, and Claudio wins with the Neutralizer!
*3/4

In the back, Striker interviews Daniel Bryan and shows a video of his awful last few weeks. He says he has no comments, and he's going to start saying no a lot more often. He says he doesn't want to hear "YES" anymore and yells that it's his catchphrase. He says he is the greatest of all time and he can be World Champion and he gets to say "YES", not anybody else. He then walks away saying NO.

Match #3: Chris Jericho/Christian/Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler/Daniel Bryan/The Miz w/ Vickie Guerrero
This could have been great, it got 10 minutes. And Bryan vs. Christian and Christian vs. Ziggler were both great. Bryan/Kane was even good. But oh my god, Miz/Jericho and Miz/Kane might have been some of the worst pairings on WWE TV in all of 2012. Jericho only sort of tried against Ziggler. Christian was a good FIP at least. Jericho breaks the Walls on Bryan to hit an interfering Dolph with the Codebreaker, but Bryan gets a schoolboy then to win.
**1/4

Match #4: Ryback vs. Jinder Mahal

This is a minute or less before Jinder uses a mic as a weapon for the DQ.
3/4*

Ryback chases off Jinder anyways. FEED. ME. MORE.

In the back, The PTP walk and they are mad at not having a t-shirt and yell at the backstage t-shirt guy to make them a t-shirt.

Match #5: R-Truth vs. Darren Young
Kofi, Titus, and AW are at ringside, since AW isn't fired just yet. Young tries, but this is 90 seconds and it's post-2011 Truth, so this was never going to be anything even approaching a decent match. At least D-Young gets the win with the Death by Roderick.
3/4*

RAW REBOUND!

In the back, Layla is congratulating Booker T on his job, and Cody Rhodes comes in. She leaves, and Cody congratulates Booker too, and says he's glad to see that at his age, Booker can still find purpose outside of the ring. Cody says he hopes that his retiring of Booker T earlier in the year doesn't affect their working relationship, and Booker calls him a sucka. Cody says not to call him a sucker, and Booker says he called him a sucka, and books Cody vs. Sin Cara next week.

Match #6: Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio
This is only 6 minutes, but oh my god, who cares? It's already bad enough that this is going to be a PPV match later in the year. Total house show performance by both guys, although that's nothing new and why I hate both of them. They just kind of do stuff without focus and do nothing special at all. Orton does his thing and is setting up for the RKO, but Ricardo slides in and that's grounds for a DQ?! Give me an eye gouge or a low blow or something, shit.
*3/4

ADR slides out, but Sheamus runs out. He rolls him back in, and Orton hits the RKO to end the show.

WWE Raw
August 6th, 2012
San Antonio, TX

AJ comes out to open the show and welcomes everybody to Monday Night Raw! She announces two big matches she came up with, and it's Randy Orton vs. The Big Show and also, JOHN CENA VS. DANIEL BRYAN! FUCK YEAH AJ! She's about to continue, but CM Punk comes out to interrupt. He says he doesn't like to have regrets, but he's man enough to admit a mistake, and he's sorry for the way he yelled at AJ last week and tried to throw his weight around. He says neither of them deserves to be disrespected, so he apologizes again. AJ accepts his apology, and Punk says he hopes they can continue to be friend and he knows she'll do a great job as GM, but it's hard, and that's why she made a mistake with another triple threat match at SummerSlam. He asks her to give him a one on one match instead, which is pretty fair. He's already won two of them, and beaten Show and Cena. AJ says the match is still on and Punk asks if this is revenge for him saying no to her marriage proposal. He says he'll take any singles opponent, and John Cena comes out like a vulture. Cena just shakes his head and says Punk's become one of those guys, that's why he's looking at him like that. He comes out and demands respect when he used to just come out here and earn it. He says the WWE Title doesn't guarantee him respect, he's won 11 of them, and he still has to fight for respect. Cena says the triple threat is HIS fault for losing his head and attacking Big Show. He then says AJ smells great and shakes her hand. She looks like she has a crush. Dat foreshadowing. Where did THIS John Cena go? They both have fair and understandable points to make and come off as likable human beings. Punk says Cena's the one who went flying into him and provoked him and he doesn't take disrespect from anyone anymore. Cena says they're in this because of him and the champion doesn't do well in triple threats. Punk asks who says that, and says he beat Cena last year, and he'll beat him again. The Big Show comes out and AJ yells to stop it. She says to save it for later, and Punk asks where his match is. AJ says it's next, against one of three opponents people can vote on.

Coming back, the vote results are: Rey Mysterio at 47%, Kane at 31%, and The Miz at 22%

Match #1: CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
This was really good, but only 7 minutes long. I don't remember a lot that stands out from Rey's 2012 WWE run since it was obvious that time finally ran out for his miracle knees, but this could end up being one of the better matches of this run, since these two work so well together anyways. Lots of their usual good stuff. Punk gets his knees up on the Penguin Splash, and wins clean with the GTS.
**3/4

In the back, ADR conveniently parks his car backstage. So that's THIS episode. Great.

WADE BARRETT: BARE KNUCKLED FIGHTER. Hope this pans out.

OH GROSS SHAWN'S HERE TONIGHT TOO. PUNISHMENT RAW IN FULL EFFECT TO COUNTERACT CENA/BRYAN.

In the back, ADR complains to AJ and says he's not going to wrestle any more until SummerSlam. AJ is confused and says she didn't schedule him in anything. ADR is relieved and says to Ricardo that he thought she was going to do something crazy. She comes back and is mad about that word, so she books him in a match next. God damnit.

Match #3: Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian
This is only 3 minutes, and Christian's now being buried for being on TNA for that Hall of Fame trade with Ric Flair, even though he didn't want to do it in the first place, because this company is entirely insane. So even unprepared and out of his gear, ADR can beat Christian in 3 minutes with his shitty Cross Armbreaker.
*1/2

Sheamus then steals ADR's car in the back. I'm not covering this. This is one of the worst WWE angles in the last several years. Fucking terrible stuff. It's not so much that it's a bad idea. Stone Cold stole shit and ruined cars all the time, but the announcers weren't playing it off as him being a lovable hooligan and it being totally acceptable behavior.

Match #3: Randy Orton vs. The Big Show
This is also useless! They do things for 5 minutes and oh my god, it's so very obvious that neither one is giving a shit. They fight to a double count out.
*1/2

Back inside, Orton ducks the JO Punch and hits the RKO.

Match #4: Ryback vs. Curt Hawkins/Tyler Reks
ANOTHER AWESOME RYBORK SQUASH. FUCK YEAH. DOUBLE SHELLSHOCK. ALL HAIL BIG HUNGRY.
**

Match #5: The Colons vs. The Prime Time Players w/ AW

This is Abe's final appearance, as he's fired the next day. This got 4 minutes, so this was a nice little match. Primo was super crisp on everything. PTP tries to leave, but Kofi and Truth come out to throw them back in, and Epico beats Darren Young with the Lungblower.
**

In the back, Josh asks Damien Sandow about last week. He says he is obligated to rid the WWE of all foolishness. Any man who dances poorly for cheap entertainment is only a detriment to society. Therefore, tonight he disposes of Brodus Clay, for the betterment of all of you. You're welcome.

Brodus comes out, but Damien Sandow runs out from behind while he comes down the ramp. They fight down to the side by the stage, and Damien does a fantastic beatdown on Brodus' bad knee by slamming it into the steel ramp and repeatedly stomping on it before referees and The Funkadactyls come over to get him to stop.

In the back, Daniel Bryan is sitting down with AJ in the office, and has taped over all the YES on his t-shirt and replaced them with NOs before the actual NO t-shirt came out. She says the doctor may have dubbed him sane, but he has definite anger management issues. Daniel says that's because she left him at the altar, but anyways, he's glad she gave him a match with John Cena. Because when he wins, then SummerSlam will become a four way match. AJ says he already has a match at SummerSlam against Kane. They yell NO and YES at each other.

Match #6: Kelly Kelly vs. Eve
Hey, Kelly Kelly's back. Hey, this was short and didn't result in anything that matters. K2 wins with her finisher, the roll up.
1/4*

Fucking god damn piece of shit cocksucker most overrated wrestler ever Shawn Michaels comes out and I hate everything. Just fucking go away, god damn dude. He calls himself #HBK now, continuing to be The Worst, and says he had to be here in his hometown. He says everyone is talking about Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar, and by everyone, I'm pretty sure he just means Triple H. BROCK LESNAR COMES OUT AND PAUL IS WITH HIM! YES! KILL. KILL BORK KILL. Paul says it's not surprising that everyone wants to know Shawn's opinion on SummerSlam, because he's the greatest in-ring entertainer in the history of WWE. Love how Paul refuses to lie and call him outright the greatest wrestler. BECAUSE HE'S NOT. IT'S ALL A GOD DAMNED HOAX. I HATE HIM. Paul says Brock Lesnar is not coming to entertain, because he doesn't care about if people are entertained. Brock Lesnar is coming to FIGHT Triple H and to prove that he is the baddest dude on the planet today. Shawn says at any other time, Brock's his guy, and you shouldn't go personal with his wife and kids. THEY DID IT FIRST. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? WHY ISN'T THIS FEUD ABOUT BROCK BREAKING TRIPLE H'S ARM WITH EASE?! IT'S TWO TOUGH GUYS, LET THEM BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BEAT THE SHHGOIHRGOIHORHO FUCK. FUCK I HATE IT. Shawn says he won't bet against Triple H when it gets personal, and he'll even be in his corner to see it happen. MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURDER. Paul says Shawn left on his own terms, but Brock Lesnar will not give Triple H that option. Brock talks finally and says the only reason Shawn thinks his friend has a chance is because he's never been in the ring with him. Until now. Triple H comes out to save his fucking albatross of a friend AND BROCK JUST LAUGHS. BROCK IS GOD. Brock says he'll see Triple H at SummerSlam, AND HE'LL SEE SHAWN BEFORE THEN. I DIDN'T KNOW I COULD LOVE BROCK MORE, BUT HE THREATENED TO MURDER MY ALL TIME MOST HATED WRESTLER.

TOUT: SHEAMUS IS STILL THE WORST

Chris Jericho comes out to do commentary.

Match #7: Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Alex Riley
They got 4 minutes, so Ziggler got to carry A-Ri. Jericho ends up distracting him, AND RILEY GETS A SCHOOLBOY TO WIN. WAT.
**

BE A STAR. THEY HAVE SHEAMUS ON THIS ON THE EPISODE WHERE HE STOLE AND DESTROYED A DUDE'S CAR.

Match #8: Kane vs. The Miz
This is not good at all, but it's at least short with only three minutes. Kane wins clean with the Chokeslam.
*1/4

In the back, Matt Striker interviews Bryan, and he yells at the fans to stop chanting "YES" and keeps yelling "NO"

included Sheamus arriving back to the arena with ADR's car covered in debris

Match #9: John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan
At least this is worth it. Such a fucking great match. Strength vs. technique is on display here, with lots of awesome offense by Bryan and power spots by Cena. It's scary to even think that this is probably only half of what they're capable of. This will probably end up being like their version of Punk/Cena I in November 2009 if the world is just place, but we can't say for sure yet. Lots of cool counters. Cena blocks the No Lock and muscles Bryan off the mat in sort of a catapult type lift and into the FU for the win. I love that they managed to protect the No Lock with that.
***1/4

CM Punk comes out and holds up the WWE Title in Cena's face. Big Show comes out and Cena pushes Punk down to fight Big Show. He has him up for the FU, but then Punk hits Big Show again and he falls on Cena. Punk goes out and puts on a headset. He says maybe this is his fault, maybe it's his fault that it's a triple threat, and maybe it's his fault people are disrespecting him. BECAUSE HE LET PEOPLE DISRESPECT HIM. He says Raw ends the way it started, the way it ended last week, and the way it should always end, with the WWE Champion holding up HIS title. THE BEST WRESTLER IN THE WORLD. Punk gets back in and gets KO Punched. Cena then gets knocked out too. God fucking damnit. What an awful episode.

TONIGHT: BO/JINDER AND HENNIG/GABRIEL IN THE TOURNAMENT!

Match #1: Justin Gabriel vs. Michael McGillicutty [NXT Championship Tournament - Quarterfinals]
Oh jesus, they're letting the other one main event. This is actually very good. They do like five or six minutes of pure matwork, and it's not GREAT, but it was pretty decent. Mike's now started yelling SHAH as the noise he makes when he hits a guy, and the NXT crowd picks up on it and yells SHAH whenever he does a move. They then just sort of do stuff and Joe has this SWEET Chaos Theory type roll into a Perfect Plex, but it fails to beat even Justin Gabriel. He wins with the McGillicutter.
**1/4

It is now Seth Rollins vs. Michael McGillicutty in the semi-finals.

Match #2: Kassius Ohno vs. CJ Parker
Ohno again delivers a great squash match. He treats all the jobbers like Jim Powers, in that they get a little basic offense to start, and then he shuts them down violently. It's great work. He uses all his strikes and they rule, but he breaks out the great old Hero trademarks like a Cravat and some sweet Sentons to Parker on the mat. Ohno wins with the Death Blow.
**

Horrible Ascension vignette.

Match #3: Tamina/Paige vs. Kaitlyn/Caylee Turner
This was solid for NXT women. Turner isn't good at all, but the other three are. Paige has lots of great pinning combinations, and pins Turner with a cradle.
*

In the back, Bo talks to Derrick Bateman and Bateman sort of passive-aggressively blames him for their tag loss, since Bo didn't break up the pin when he totally could have. Bo, instead of apologizing or admitting fault, asks for his support tonight. Bateman says he's got it, because Jinder's the worst. OH my god, they're still punishing Bateman for NXT Forever Season, aren't they?

Match #4: Bo Dallas vs. Jinder Mahal [NXT Championship Tournament - Quarterfinals]
This was BAD. Good lord, this might have been the worst match of the year between two actual trained and currently active wrestlers. They got 10 minutes and it was really just a pile of shit. Poor bumping, tons of daylight on everything, shitty strikes, lots of awkward stuff and botching. These two are fucking embarrassing, and the fact that one of them moves on in the tournament while dudes like Ohno, Big E, Hunico, Drew are all on the outside watching is really upsetting. Nobody in the crowd gave a shit about either man. Jinder finally ends it with his shitty Camel Clutch. Fuck you.
I award you no stars, and may God have mercy on your soul

TONIGHT: ZIGGLER ON THE HIGHLIGHT REEL!

Before his match vs. Sin Cara, Cody Rhodes gets on the mic. He says Sin Cara wears a mask because he is nothing special, and he said he was going to expose him tonight.

Match #1: Cody Rhodes vs. Sin Cara
This is a solid three minutes, but that's it. Cara does his stuff well, and Cody spends too much time trying to unmask Sin Cara instead of trying to win. Sin Cara is able to pull him into an inside cradle when he tries it, and that gives him the win.
*3/4

WADE BARRETT. REAL FIGHTS. JEANS. PUNCHING DUDES IN BASEMENTS. STILL WON'T GET OVER.

Another recap of Daniel Bryan's growing stress airs.

Daniel Bryan comes out and yells at the fans to stop chanting "YES!" They get even louder and he freaks out in the ring before he collapses. He asks if they think he's nothing more than a catchphrase and says he's a former World Heavyweight Champion, and he should be in the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam. He says instead, the woman who left him at the altar put him in a match against Kane, and it's not fair. He says he deserves better than to be walked on by a piexie in a power suit and her boy toy, and Kane comes out. AJ then comes out and tells them not to attack each other, but she wants a clean fight at SummerSlam and asks them to shake hands. Bryan tries to shake his hand, but Kane hits him, so Bryan runs away.

In the back, Reks and Hawkins try to suck up to Booker T, and he tells them to step it up.

Match #2: Jinder Mahal vs. Two Jobbers
Awful squash.
1/4*

Ryback comes out to run off Jinder, and hits the jobbers with a Double Shellshock.

It is now time for the Highlight Reel, but Vickie Guerrero comes out. She says she will speak on her client's behalf and he will not lower himself to appearing on his show tonight. She says he can win the big one and is the future World Heavyweight Champion, and Jericho says they're flexible, and he can interview Dolph's mom instead. LOL. They get in an awful EXCUSE ME-off. Jericho says Ziggler's only won one match in 2012, and it was for his precious briefcase. Vickie challenges him to face Ziggler at SummerSlam, and Jericho says he'll prove he hasn't touch. Ziggler comes from the crowd to try and hit him with the briefcase, but Jericho ducks it. Jericho fights him, but Vickie distracts him, and Ziggler hits the Peace Zig. He waits, and then hits Jericho with the briefcase after all.

Kofi and Truth come out to do commentary.

Match #3: The Prime Time Players vs. The Colons w/ Rosa Mendes
Only 90 secondsnow. Where are the Usos? Can they only have one ethnic babyface team at a time? PTP wins. :(
*

Match #4: Christian vs. Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana

They only got 4 minutes, but it's two of the best wrestlers in the company and world, so this was incredible. Tons of cool counters that they crammed in here. The best of which was Claudio catching Christian running for the Spear and hitting the Pop-Up European. Christian is able to squirm out of the Neutralizer though, and hits the Spear to win.
**1/4

Cesaro attacks him after the match and hits the Neutralizer.

RAW REBOUND.

In the back, Eve tries to get an assistant job with Booker T. Teddy comes over with Kaitlyn and says she's much better suited, so Booker hires her since she has Teddy's approval. Eve threatens to tell the Board about his discriminatory hiring practices. Booker says he wants this to be fair, and books a match with the job on the line.

Match #5: Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz
This is also under 5 minutes, because Smackdown is becoming blatant punishment again. Cole keeps talking about how Miz has cut all the flash out of his moveset and is now all about basic offense, but it's not like he changed at all. He's still sort of vaguely average at literally everything, and almost never tries anymore like he did in 2008-10. Rey wins with a cradle.
**

BE A STAR.

Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio come out for the title match. ADR gets on the mic when he sees people coming down, and they're police. He says he never filed the report and says to stop so he can have his title match. They get on the apron and there's like 10 of them. ADR smiles and says to go, and they attack. But Sheamus can fight them all off for like 2 minutes because he's Sheamus and he can fight 12 people. FUCK YOU, CHEER FOR SHEAMUS. LOOK HOW STRONG HE IS. LOOK AT HOW OFTEN HE WINS. They finally hold him back so ADR can beat him up, and even Smackdown's mostly fake crowd noise doesn't give a shit.

Match #1: CM Punk vs. The Big Show

It's probably a bad idea to book this when they're trying to book Punk as a heel, since it only reinforces the face reaction. This is fucking great for only 6 minutes too, and actually continues from their match a month back. Punk now understands that he can beat The Big Show, so he's not tentative and is super aggressive. He sells a lot and starts to make a hard fought comeback, but Daniel Bryan comes out. He yells that he should be in the title match, and attacks Punk for the DQ.
**3/4

Bryan puts on the No Lock, but John Cena comes out to save. AJ books Punk/Cena vs. Bryan/Show in the main event.

TONIGHT: BORK/H CONTRACT SIGNING

In the back, JTG complains to Kaitlyn about not being booked, and says this is crazy. AJ hears him and goes nuts and tells him she'll find him an opponent next. JTG leaves, and AJ says she and Kaitlyn have had problems, but asks if she thinks she's unstable. Kaitlyn says she can think of many words to describe AJ, and unstable isn't one of them.

Match #2: Ryback vs. JTG
This is JTG's punishment for twitter remarks. Ryback kills him extra hard and wins with Shellshock.
**

RAW ACTIVE: DECIDE WHO IS ON PIPER'S PIT BETWEEN JERICHO, MIZ, AND DOLPH!

In the back, Shawn is on the phone and talking to Triple H. Apparently his flight is late, and Shawn says he needs to be here and this isn't his fight.

Match #3: Heath Slater vs. R-Truth
Black People vs. PTP is announced for SummerSlam, and Cole says Kofi isn't here tonight. This is a dogshit minute since Truth is the worst. He wins with Black Finisher.
1/2*

The Prime Time Players come out with Kofi gone, and they beat down Truth.

USE TOUT.

SMOCKDAWN REBOUND FOR ONCE.

Clips air from WWE.com where Booker T canceled Sheamus/ADR as punishment to ADR and a reward to everyone else.

TOUT SAYS ADR WILL ARGUE IT ON SMACKDOWN. USE TOUT.

Match #4: Sin Cara vs. Tensai w/ Sakamoto
This is literally a minute and Sin Cara wins with a Tornado DDT. Why even bother? They've had 4 matches so far, and the last three wouldn't even combine to make 5 minutes. YOU HAVE THREE HOURS NOW, IT'S SUPPOSED TO STOP THIS BULLSHIT.
3/4*

Tensai beats up Sakamoto post-match.

Roddy Piper comes out for Piper's Pit, and Lawler reads the results. Jericho wins with 55%. He comes out, and they've been building this since their initial exchange of words about their talk shows in 2003, so this is really cool. But that's WAY too far back to remember for WWE. Roddy is perplexed at the fans cheering him, because he doesn't actually watch the shows. Cole announced Ziggler/Jericho for SummerSlam. Piper says the last time he saw Jericho, he got knocked out by Mickey Rourke, and Jericho says the last time he saw him, he was beating up three legends, including Piper. Jericho's started sporting his AWFUL fauxhawk as part of his continuing mid-life crisis. Roddy says he remembers when he was fighting Mr. T and people just started cheering him, and it's happened to Jericho too. Happened a long fucking time ago, but okay. It's 2010s Roddy Piper, you have to let some things slide. 10,000 car crashes and all. Piper starts rambling and Cole begins to bury it. Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero comes out. Ziggler asks how long Piper's being doing this and it's not fun or nostalgiac anymore, it's just sad. He says this is Chris' future, a million failed comebacks and slow incoherency. Miz comes out and a three way gets made. OKAY THEN.

Match #5: Chris Jericho vs. The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero
Cole also says AJ booked Miz/Rey for the IC Title at SummerSlam. This is good when Ziggler's in, since he gets the best out of both guys, but without him, it's Jericho vs. The Miz and that is a pretty terrible match. But Ziggler was in this a lot, and helped get a really good finishing run out. Although, a finishing run is the one part of wrestling Jericho still cares about, so that was very good. Jericho has Miz in the Walls, but Ziggler hits him with the Peace Zig for the win.
**3/4

In the back, Eve goes up to CM Punk and congratulates him on the new CM Punk. He says he's not wearing a black hat now or twirling his mustache, he's the same guy he's always been. Eve says nobody believes that, especially not Cena, so Punk says he'll go talk to him himself then.

In the back, Shawn Michaels is jumpy.

In the back, CM Punk finds John Cena. Cena asks if this is like last time where he's supposed to "follow his lead". Punk ignores him and says he called him "that guy" last week, but he's not going to stab him in the back. He says they might not get along, but that doesn't make him the bad guy, they're just different people. He says he's going to do anything he can to win at SummerSlam, but they can get along tonight, and again says he won't stab him in the back.

WADE BARRETT. NEW GIMMICK. PUNCHING DUDES. WEARS JEANS. BEARD. MIDCARD TITLE SOON.

Match #6: Layla/Kaitlyn vs. Eve/Beth Phoenix
Decent four minutes here. There's a loud "WE WANT TABLES" match. Wat. Kaitlyn rolls up Beth to win.
*3/4

BROCK/H HYPE VIDEO.

Match #7: CM Punk/John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan/The Big Show
This was great. It's Bryan in a 10 minute plus match with Punk and Cena. The faces have some great stuff to play on their tension, and they use each other's moves. Neither team gets along though, since Bryan keeps yelling at Show to get out and they also force tags. Punk is a great FIP again, and yeah. Show has him ready for the KO Punch, but Bryan tags himself in and yells at him to leave. Show goes and hangs out on the floor, and Punk comes back. He hits the shoulderblocks and Protobomb of Cena, but he tags himself in and hits Punk's high knee and Bulldog. Punk waits on the floor too and tells him to finish it. Bryan almost gets a roll up win, but Cena recovers with the FU to get an unfortunately easy win.
***

Show comes in to attack Cena from behind, but Punk cuts him off with the title belt to the head! Cena turns around and looks paranoid. Punk goes to shake his hand, but Cena just stares at him and refuses. Punk gets pissed now, and says maybe Cena's the bad guy, and he walks off. Yeah, you'd think the guy would be a little thankful he just saved him or at least be a good babyface and shake hands with his partner.

In the back, Josh asks CM Punk about what happened. Punk said he offered his hand, and Cena refused to shake his hand. Where he comes from, that's the ultimate sign of disrespect. This calls for a Fight Without Honor. Punk says at the end of SummerSlam, he's going to teach everybody about respect.

Match #8: Christian vs. Damien Sandow
This is fun for 2 minutes. Christian's punishment continues as he loses to the Straightjacket Neckrbeaker.
*3/4

Match #1: Richie Steamboat vs. Jinder Mahal [NXT Championship Tournament - Semi-Finals]

Richie did what he could, but again he's very inexperienced and does not have the ability to carry yet. His stuff all looked very good though, and he did the best he could. Jinder was Jinder. They at least keep it at like 5 minutes, and Jinder wins with the Camel Clutch.
*3/4

In the back, Briley Pierce interviews Leo Kruger, and he's stroking a thread of his hair. He asks about his loss in the tournament, and he says something isn't right, and pulls a broken tooth out of his mouth and starts laughing like a lunatic. He says something is not right inside of him, and walks off laughing.

Heath Slater comes out and he makes an open challenge, AND SCOTTY 2 HOTTY COMES OUT!

Match #2: Heath Slater vs. Scotty 2 Hotty
They do stuff and The Worm ends it.
3/4*

Match #3: The Usos vs. The Ascension

The Usos dragged them to a one-point match. They win with a roll up.
*1/2

Post-match, The Ascension lays out the best tag team in the company because I have no idea.

Match #4: Seth Rollins vs. Michael McGillicutty [NXT Championship Tournament - Semi-Finals]
Solid 6 minutes. Seth tries hard, and Joe is great in NXT again. He has this AMAZING Snap Saito Suplex that is so much better as a finish than the McGillicutter or the Above Average Plex. Rollins comes back with the Buckle Bomb and hits the Blackout for the win. There was a 4 minute H/Bork promo in the middle of this.
**1/4

Jinder Mahal comes out to yell at Rollins, BUT DUSTY RHODES COMES OUT! He officially makes Rollins vs. Jinder in the finals for next week and Jinder tries a cheap shot, but Rollins runs him off.

The Usos vs. Michael McGillicutty/Johnny Curtis, Superstars (August 16th)
Yay, the Usos are back on b-shows! This is a fun 8 minutes. Curtis and Joe are solid as your non-flashy basic undercard heels, and Joe continues to have the nice little bits of offense that I keep waiting for him to actually break out in his 2013 push. Really weird that they see a guy slowly improving but then when he's pushed, they take away all the stuff that got him semi-over on b-shows. Anyways, the Usos get a great hot tag and win with the Flying Splash.
**1/4

Damien Sandow vs. Justin Gabriel, Superstars (August 16th)

This was an alright 6 minutes, but Gabriel really held it back. They have a little trouble getting going, but Sandow has some good work on the ribs. At no point after the transition though does Gabriel even attempt to sell the damage done. The transition to the end is also pretty shitty. Sandow just crotches Gabriel up top, and then takes him off and out, before hitting the Straightjacket Neckbreaker to win.

Alberto Del Rio comes out to open the show and wants Booker T to give him his rightful title match at SummerSlam. Booker says ADR stepped over the line last week and he won't tolerate it here. ADR says he earned his title match and he spoke with his lawyers. Chris Jericho comes out to make this worst. They argue about things and stuff, and Booker says since there's no World Title match at SummerSlam, he books ADR/Jericho tonight to make up for it.

Match #1: Rey Mysterio/Sin Cara vs. The Miz/Cody Rhodes
Decent four minutes, but it's mostly all due to the masked men. Cody is starting to not really try either, and again, Miz is so far beyond anything you could ever pin down as effort by this point in non-important matches like this. Cody gets preoccupied trying to unmask Sin Cara on the floor from the ring, and gets hit with the 619 and Penguin Splash to win.
**

Hawkins and Reks have a match, and are now doing a male stripper gimmick.

Match #2: Curt Hawkins/Tyler Reks vs. Jobbers
This was a squash by Hawkins and Reks. They're not a good team, and an even worse gimmick than nothing doesn't improve that.
1/2*

RAW REBOUND: WWE TITLE STUFF!

WADE BARRETT. BEARD. PUNCHING. SLOW MUSIC. BASEMENT FIGHTING. GAY SEX.

Match #3: Kaitlyn vs. Eve [Winner Is Booker T's Assistant]
This is good for 2 minutes. Eve does some nice matwork, Kaitlyn has good power offense, and Eve wins with the Corkscrew Neckbreaker deal.
*3/4

Match #4: Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan

This is again a great match. They only get like 7 or 8 minutes, so they can't equal their first match, but it's still a great effort. A large part of the early minutes is about how Daniel can't focus with all the YES chants, but once he can focus, he tears Orton's leg apart. Orton sells really well again and Bryan keeps focusing on the knee. They have some cool counters, and this is on the way to being one of the better SD matches in a long time. Orton blocks the takedown for the No Lock, BUT BRYAN STEPS ON HIS BAD KNEE TO GET HIM DOWN! AWESOME! He has it on, but Kane's pyro and music goes off. Bryan freaks out, but when it stops, Orton hits a flash RKO to win.
***

Santino comes out to do commentary, and Santino/Cesaro is announced for the SummerSlam pre-show.

Match #5: Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana vs. Zack Ryder
Good 90 second squash. Ryder had a good offensive before he died, and The Neutralizer gets him the win.
*1/2

RAW REBOUND: H/BORK!

In the back, Jericho gets attacked by Ziggler. He yells not to overlook him, because he's too damn good. Booker and referees run them off, but Jericho says he's going through with the match.

Match #6: Alberto Del Rio vs. Chris Jericho
Jericho fights through the pain! Well, theoretically, that is. Since he hasn't really sold it at all. This is only 6 minutes, thank god. It's not good because ADR has been shown to be mostly useless by this point and super super bland during the 95% of matches when he's not trying, and Jericho isn't good anymore. Ziggler comes out to cost Jericho again and ADR hits a whifftastic Shining Enzuiguri to win.
*3/4

ADR puts on the Cross Armbreaker post-match, until Sheamus runs out to save. ADR runs away through the crowd, and Booker T comes out. Sheamus says to reinstate his match with Del Rio at SummerSlam, so Booker does it. God damnit.

This was a solid 5 minutes, or as much as you can do with Santino. Claudio gets Santino to show off his actual skill and Santino breaks out a very good Saito Suplex, among other good throws. Claudio's stuff is just the absolute best, as always. Santino makes his comeback, but the Cobra gets distracted by Aksana AND CLAUDIO WINS THE TITLE WITH THE NEUTRALIZER! YEAH!

WWE SUMMERSLAM 2012
AUGUST 19TH, 2012
LOS ANGELES, CA

Match #1: Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero

Jericho now has his ribs and midsection taped up. This was one of the better non-Punk matches Jericho's had in his return, but it still wasn't great. He's much better at working face, he always has been, but he tries to do the old athletic stuff that worked in 2000-1 and 2004-5, but he doesn't have it anymore, so a lot of is is SUPER sloppy or messy. Ziggler only sort of works the ribs and Jericho sells them all of once in a 13 minute match, so there's no point in even taping them up. They shine in the finishing run though, as always. There's a needless kickout of Peace Zig, which only devalues the move since Jericho doesn't matter anymore. Ziggler is the one dude to lose to Jericho since like WrestleMania 26, as he taps to the Liontamer.
**3/4

In the back, Striker is with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Paul says he is the advocate for the most destructive force in the WWE. He says on the pre-show, Triple H used his influence to strong-arm their referee into using his discretion tonight, saying this is a fight to the finish. He says tonight, it will finish because Brock will break the spirit of the WWE. Brock grabs the mic and says this is a fight Triple H can't win. Paul says if he has a problem dealing with that, they have two words for him. Tap out.

SLIM JIM PROMO.

Match #2: Daniel Bryan vs. Kane
FUCK YEAH! Really good 8 minute match. Bryan tries his usual big man match by kicking at the knees, but Kane has no interest in actually selling it, so Daniel stops doing that. The mark of greatness right there. So he just starts taking lots of huge bumps and using speed. Kane gets pissed after Daniel slaps him, so he refuses to cover after the Chokeslam. He tries the Tombstone, but Daniel counters down into the small package for the win. MR. SMALL PACKAGE!
**1/2

In the back, Kane throws shit. Josh tries to interview him, but Kane asks where Bryan is. He says Bryan left, so Kane throws Josh off the screen and keeps on his rampage.

ANTI-DRUNK DRIVING PROMO.

Match #3: The Miz [c] vs. Rey Mysterio [WWE Intercontinental Championship]
Rey has a Batman-themed attire tonight. Still beats his Silver Surfer one, I guess. Rey does what he can with The Miz, but he's not mobile enough anymore to take the kind of death bumps and do the super fast and spirited comebacks it would take to carry Miz. Rey could have done it in 2009, but not in 2012. Still, he drags him to some nice nearfalls before Miz wins with the Skull Crushing Finale.
**1/2

WWE APP. IT'S A THING NOW. GET IT NOW OR WE'LL PLUG IT FOR A YEAR.

In the back, CM Punk goes to talk to AJ and reiterates that this match is unfair. She ignores him completely, and he says now she's disrespecting him too. He says it stops tonight when he beats two men and proves again that he's not just the WWE Champion, but the best in the world, and he says he expects some kind of respect tomorrow.

Hype video for Sheamus/ADR.

Match #4: Sheamus [c] vs. Alberto Del Rio [World Heavyweight Championship]
This was a huge improvement over MITB to the point where I remember a lot of the match minutes after it ended. It's a shame that they were so so close to having a great match, but due to laziness, it never happened. They kept hyping Sheamus' injured arm from the attack, but it was never worked on or sold. ADR hurt Sheamus' leg on the floor to take over, but that was also immediately ignored. Instead, they just had some nice bombs as the announcers seemingly called a totally different match. Good nearfalls, and Ricardo tries to throw ADR his shoe, but Sheamus catches it and uses it. He hits the Irish Curse, and gets the pin to win. ADR had his foot on the bottom rope, but the referee missed it, and Sheamus quickly pushed it back to the mat. What a good babyface.
**3/4

ADR argues with the ref after the match.

Clips air from the pre-show with Triple H telling Scott Armstrong that this match will only end by pinfall or submission.

Match #5: Kofi Kingston/R-Truth [c] vs. The Prime Time Players [WWE Tag Team Championship]
Kofi and Truth continue to be the worst team. PTP do what they can, and they have some quality offense during their control segment, but it's not enough. Kofi got the hot tag though, so this match ends pretty terribly no matter who wins. Truth gets the tag at the end, and he disappointingly wins with Black Finisher. No idea why PTP lost this match.
*1/2

SUMMERSLAM EVENTS.

Hype video for Punk/Cena/Show.

Match #6: CM Punk [c] vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show [WWE Championship]
Punk has his sweet Bret Hart tribute gear on now. This was the one great match on the show. It's these three in a triple threat for 13 minutes, so there's enough cool offense and counters they can do between the three of them to fill that time. Lots of good big/small stuff with Big Show too. Cole's awesome with the facts here, forcing King into silence when asking for a good reason that CM Punk hasn't main evented a PPV since December while being WWE Champion. They get a sweet finishing run going, and the hot crowd helps out a lot. Punk has the Koji Clutch on, and Cena puts on the worst looking STFU ever, barely gripping the top of Show's head. Show taps, but because both men had holds on, the ref just restarts it. Cena hits Show with the FU, but Punk throws him out and covers Show to win.
***

CROWD SHOTS. TALK ABOUT BORK/H.

Clips air of Cesaro winning the US Title.

Kevin Rudolf performs the fucking SummerSlam theme song. To complete and total fucking silence.

Hype video for Bork/H.

Match #7: Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman vs. Triple H
This could have been great. I think I've said it before in the review that it took them two matches before they figured out how to properly wrestle a Brock vs. Triple H match that would actually be great and people could buy into. And that match, the one at Extreme Rules, was based on Triple H being totally outgunned, but using trickery and cunning to injure a limb and going to work on it, before ultimately being shut down because again, he's no match for Brock physically anymore. This is not that match. This is them pretending they're actual equals, when nobody but Triple H and the McMahons can honestly believe that. It's not totally a slight on Triple H either (although again, his insistence on being against super hot acts) because NOBODY should be booked as Brock Lesnar's physical equal. Because he just doesn't have one! However, even with all the problems this had, Brock put on an incredible performance. Huge bumping, awesome offense, etc. Just Brock being Brock. AWFUL moment where H drives Brock out and yells "THIS IS WWE, NOT UFC". Cringeworthy, man. Brock kills the arm, but Triple H almost entirely ignores it on the comeback. Shit, he doesn't even sell it DURING the beatdown. HORRIBLE CORNER BUMP. Really embarrassing performance here after the career-best level one at Mania. They have the awesome idea of Triple H working the stomach, the bad stomach, or Lesnar, and his selling is out of this world great. Brock responding to a second Pedigree by, after 10 seconds, getting up and putting on the Kimura to win was fantastic. Still sold it more than Triple H sold his arm for the entire rest of the match. This is still work in progress.
**

Triple H slowly gets up and his arm is broken again. They sell it like it's his last match and it takes him like 5 minutes to go to the back. This is all bad.

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman come out to open the show. Paul says 11 years ago, Triple H tore his quad in a match and was able to get up and continue the match, but at SummerSlam, he had to surrender immediately when Brock Lesnar broke his arm again. He says Triple H tapped out on his family, his career, his fans, his company, and left a broken shell of a man. They call out Scott Armstrong, and he comes out terrified. Paul reiterates how Triple H made him refuse to call the match on any other terms, and Brock shakes his hand and says good job, while also still looking like he could kill him. He lets Scott leave and Paul calls Brock the new King of Kings, the Master of the Brocktagon, and now the master of the WWE.

TOUT FROM CM PUNK: Punk wants to pick his own opponent after facing the same people for a month, and Cole says AJ is considering it.

Match #1: Cody Rhodes/The Prime Time Players vs. Sin Cara/Kofi Kingston/R-Truth
This is alright. They get like 7 minutes to play with. Black Face Team is still totally awful, but the other four did a good job here. Way too much Kofi and Truth being isolated for this to get anything worth two points, but Sin Cara has a good hot tag. Sin Cara again rolls up Cody to win when Cody is too focused on taking his mask off.
*3/4

TONIGHT: BRYAN/MIZ VS. KANE/RYDER! Lawler says AJ put this together to help Kane and Bryan deal with their anger

In the back, Striker interviews AJ and asks about the CM Punk thing. David Otunga interrupts and says he's at her service as legal counsel, and says he's Harvard educated and undefeated. He says he'll sue anyone who calls her crazy, and her face changes. She then books him vs. an opponent of her choosing. He leaves, and AJ says CM Punk can choose anyone he wants, pending her approval.

Match #2: Ryback vs. Jobbers
FEED. ME. MORE. This is becoming great before Jinder comes out to attack Rybork for the DQ.
*1/2

Ryback powers out of the Camel Clutch, and Jinder bails. Ryback then hits the jobbers with the Double Shellshock just because.

In the back, Ziggler finds Jericho and says he wants a rematch because he only won one match. Jericho says he proved last night that he knows how to win the big one, and asks if Ziggler does. AJ comes over and skips around them. She books a rematch, but to make it interesting, she puts Jericho's career on the line against Ziggler's briefcase.

Alberto Del Rio comes out and shows footage from SummerSlam. He says he was robbed last night and he should be the new World Heavyweight Champion. He demands a title match tonight. AJ comes out again and says she can give him a match, but Booker T has to be the one to give him the title match. She then brings out Randy Orton.

Sheamus then comes out to do commentary.

Match #3: Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio
Total house show match. It's 8 minutes and half of that is random not trying chinlockery. Just them sitting down in the hold without any struggle and a ton of daylight included. ADR gets too preoccupied with arguing with Sheamus on the floor, and Orton hits an RKO for the win. They're clearly saving a ton for a real match.
*3/4

Clips air again of Cesaro's win.

Match #4: Damien Sandow vs. Brodus Clay w/ The Funkadactyls
Good 2-3 minutes. Brodus' knee is taped and Sandow works on it. He dodges a corner splash, and rolls up Brodus with the tights to win.
*3/4

Post-match, Brodus hits Sandow with a throw and the Big Splash, and dances.

LOOK AT THE TWEETS OF WWE SUPERSTARS SHILLING BROCK/H. IN NO WAY IS THIS SUSPICIOUS.

Featured Cole conducting an interview via satellite with Shawn Michaels, his arm in a sling, from San Antonio in which he discussed Triple H's career possibly being over; Michaels went on to say he beleived he became a distraction for Triple H in recent weeks and he should have told Triple H all along that he didn't think he could beat Lesnar; Michaels' comments aired with still photos of the match and of his and Triple H's relationship appearing inbetween; Michaels said he's always respected and loved Triple H and was proud of him and went on to thank him "for a job well done" on behalf of himself and the fans

David Otunga comes out for his match, but The Big Show is his opponent!

Match #5: The Big Show vs. David Otunga
SQUAAAAAAAAAAAASH. Big Show wins with the JO Punch.
3/4*

Match #6: Daniel Bryan/The Miz vs. Kane/Zack Ryder

This is a decent 4 minutes, but this is so much more of an angle than a real match, so whatever. Kane ends up running Bryan off, and Daniel Bryan just runs away through the crowd. Miz leaves since he'd then be all alone, so Kane flips out. Kane beats up the timekeeper, and he gets back in the ring to Tombstone Ryder too, and the referee throws the match out.
**

Clips air from a WWE.com interview with Cena after the match. He says it was one of those nights, and says Punk sure is lucky. He says he's never seen anything like that, but he won't blame it on a bad call or AJ or anything. Which implies he wants to blame a bad call, so he truly fucking believes that him barely holding onto Big Show's head counts as more of a submission than the Koji Clutch. Camera man asks if Cena is now willing to call CM Punk the best in the world. Cena blows it off and says he doesn't know what he wants from him, and leaves.

Match #7: Divas' #1 Contender's Battle Royal
This is a thing that happens. Short, nothing of any real note here. Kaitlyn eliminates Eve to win.
1/2*

TOUT FROM BORK: Bork is leaving WWE

WADE BARRETT IN JEANS. KICKING BRITISH PEOPLE. TALKING SLOW. SLOW MUSIC. STARE AT THE CAMERA. AWFUL FAUX INTENSITY. BARRAGE. BRITISH ACCENT.

At ringside, Cole and Lawler announce that AJ is forcing Daniel Bryan and Kane to go to anger management next week. OH MY GOD YES!

Match #8: Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero [Contract vs. Contract]
This is a pretty big stipulation...so it gets 7 minutes. LOLWWE. Three hours, huh? Jericho again botches all his athletic shit and they repeat a ton of stuff from last night. This feud's done a great job reinforcing that Jericho is 100% done as a good wrestler, which is a little disappointing. Ziggler gets his knees up on the Lionsault and hits the Peace Zig to win clean.
**1/4

Jericho is mad, so he hits Ziggler with the briefcase. He hits him again and then hits the Codebreaker, because I guess he should be punished for winning clean? Not sure why they didn't just do this on PPV? I mean, if they wanted to actually re-establish Jericho maybe, but he's come back in 2013 and once again dropped every big match. Whatever, at least he's gone for the rest of the year now.

CM Punk comes out to at least end this total shitshow on a high note, and gets on the mic. He goes out to the floor and says he lost his train of thought when he saw Jerry. He says he feels good about last night and he was going to talk about that, but he saw him and he remember how he said he turned his back on the WWE Universe. He says he wants to clear the air and for Lawler to admit he was a little wrong. Lawler says he meant no malice, but he felt it at that moment. Punk says to have the respect for him to just apologize. He looks like he's going to, but John Cena comes out. Punk gets in the ring and asks if he couldn't have waited. He says he was conducting business, but John still had to come out to steal the spotlight. He says it's a great transition into what he wants to talk about and says from WrestleMania up until last night, he's been taking a backseat to him, to Triple H, to DWAYNE, and he's done it out of RESPECT. BUT THAT'S A TWO WAY STREET, AND NOT NOW NOR EVER HAS IT EVER BEEN RECIPROCATED. He's the WWE Champion and he has been for 9 months. In that time, he's walked through airports to calls of "Hey, what's up Champ?" Then it's followed by "how come you weren't in the main event last night?" or asking why he's taking a back seat. He tells them that Cena can go on last because he respects him, and says any match the WWE Champion is in is the real main event, and it's out of respect that he never raised an argument. He says it doesn't make any sense anymore, since Cena's the guy he beat FOR this title a year ago, he's the guy he beat at SummerSlam, and the guy he beat last night at Summerslam. He asks Cena if he knows why he's the #1 Contender for what belongs to him, and says it's because he has to beat him AGAIN. Then he thinks about it, and all the times he's beaten him, it still hasn't mattered. He says he sees all his fans, the Cenation, and it dawns on him. The one condition he has for this match. He says people listen to what he has to say, so the shot's his, but all he has to do is right now, ADMIT that he's the best in the world. Cena says Punk's always one to speak his mind, so he'll let him retort. He's been champion for nine months, which means he hasn't been there in nine months. He says he sees a lot of t-shirts and merch for him, and maybe he asks why. He never did that. He asks why they'd support him, because through all the good and bad times, their relationship isn't about the title, it's about RESPECT. Cena then goes for the cheap pop and says Fresno State fans don't give up on a team because they didn't win a title, just like his fans don't give up on him. Cena says he won't let his fans down by admitting that, and he's not going to call him the best in the world. He says he has to believe that HE'S the best. That's not for acceptance or out of arrogance or cockiness, because he wants them to still believe in him. He spent a full calendar year telling people he'd beat The Rock and let them down, and he won't do it again. He says he once held that gold for 380 days straight, and he never ONCE demanded anything from anyone. He says Punk's held the title for 275 days, and he IS in the back seat, and all anyone remember is the night he blew a kiss and left town. And now he's going to demand that he sacrifices the integrity he's worked 10 years just to justify his existence, and he's not here to stroke his ego. He says he's here to offer him vindication by proving it. Cena says one match can define respect, because it's in his house, and if he can leave WWE Champion in his hometown, that's the moment that will define him. Cena says he can choose anyone, but says to not come out and demand respect, because if he doesn't choose him for this match, he's got no respect for himself or the WWE Title. WHAT THE FUCK?! Dude starts off making counterarguments against points Punk didn't made, responds by burying his title reign, and then pretty much implies that if Punk doesn't beat him, then his title reign, the 13th longest ever by now, is worthless, and outright says if he doesn't give him a title shot, it means he doesn't respect the title. HOLY SHIT. That's some 1988 Hogan style subtle burial of Savage stuff, but without the cocaine and insanity to disguise it.

Anyways, Cena leaves, and Punk deadpans it and calls Lawler into the ring. He says he wants to have a conversation, because damnit, he's never turned his back on any of his fans. Lawler comes into the ring and Punk says he's been himself and defended what matters, and he thinks Jerry went a little too far and owes him an apology. Lawler says this is all a misunderstanding, but if it's what he wants, he apologizes. Punk says he's not finished and says if Cena won't say it, Lawler's the minister of propaganda, and they'll believe him. He asks him to acknowledge that he's the best in the world. Lawler says he can say whatever, but he's spent a lot of years at that table and he's built a rapport with the WWE Universe. Punk says to tell the truth then, it's not hard, and then they can both move on. Lawler says he can't say that, and goes to leave, BUT PUNK ROUNDHOUSE KICKS HIM IN THE HEAD! YEAH! Punk sells it like he's mad at himself for doing that, which is amazing.

WWE Diva's Champion: Layla, Since 4/29/2012

WWE NXT
August 22nd, 2012
Orlando, FL

Match #1: Derrick Bateman vs. Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana

Great four minutes. Black NXT announces that Rollins/Jinder is actually next week. Yay. Bateman's push is totally dead now, which is sad, but he still did alright. Continues to look like this wonderful Benoit/Sting hybrid in need of more seasoning and he's not great, but hey, they've kept A-Ri employed for like 5 years and he never showed as much as Bateman has in 2012. Claudio is Claudio, and eventually he wins with the Neutralizer.
**

TONIGHT: KIDD/GABRIEL VS. CURTIS/JOE

A video airs of WWE Superstars talking about what it would to be the first NXT Champion.

Match #2: Tamina Snuka vs. Sofia Cortez
Cortez exists, and Tamina has a nice showcase. Superfly Splash ends it.
*

Raquel Diaz attacks Tamina post-match, and draws an L on her forehead with lipstick.

Match #3: Kassius Ohno vs. Jake Carter
Another great Hero showcase. Carter has some nice body blows and shows potential, but does the best a guy with this little experience can in two minutes. Hero wins with the Rolling Elbow.
*3/4

Ohno keeps beating on Vader's kid, and Richie Steamboat comes out to save! YEAH THIS IS GONNA RULE!

Match #4: Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel vs. Michael McGillicutty/Johnny Curtis
The crowd is now chanting "SHAH!" back at Hennig with every move again. Kidd/Hennig is really great stuff yet again, and they anchor their teams well. Otherwise, this was NOT a good match. Lots and lots of botching, even the usually crisp Kidd caught a bad case of it by tripping as he ran up the top rope. It got really awkward for 30 seconds after that, so you have to believe it was the finish. They improvise a Hart Attack version of a Blockbuster on Curtis for the win.
*3/4

In the back, Briley tells Kassius Ohno that Richie has challenged him. Ohno says Richie doesn't like seeing people in pain, and asks how he's going to like it when it's him. He says he accepts, and he's going to show him first hand that Kassius hurts people.

Black NXT is in the ring and brings out Jinder Mahal and Seth Rollins for the FACE TO FACE. First, why isn't JR doing this? Secondly, huge waste of one of the best ideas in wrestling to build up a big title match. He asks Seth first and asks what it means to him. OH MY GOD, WHY DOES HE HAVE MIC TIME? He says he's always wanted to be a champion in WWE, so this means everything to him. He talks about how growing up is hard and wrestling gave him a dream and direction. FUCK YOU. He says he won't leave here without becoming the first ever NXT Champion. Jinder speaks in fucking space talk about how he's awful. He then uses real language and says Seth sounds like all these people, a born loser. He says this is his birthright and he is the supreme superstar. JINDER GETS THE FIRST "WHAT" CHANTS IN NXT SINCE THE RELAUNCH! AMAZING! He cheaps shots Seth and puts on the Camel Clutch. BOOOOOOO

YOUR B-SHOW ROUND UP OF THE WEEK (I will be doing this as WWE will have like 3 different b-shows soon, and this is the week that #2 debuts, although there isn't anything resembling a real match on it):

Damien Sandow vs. Yoshi Tatsu, Superstars (August 23rd)
Quality showcase for some 4 minutes. Yoshi does well with his kicks and strikes, and dies on his bumps to make Sandow look good. Sandow has a nice spot with the apron skirt on transition, and then Yoshi has a good comeback at the end. Damien cuts him off, of course, and wins with the Straightjacket Neckbreaker.
**

Cody Rhodes vs. Justin Gabriel, Superstars (August 23rd)

I wished for a longer match from them in January, but Cody doesn't really care about trying in the ring anymore, so this got 10+ minutes and was really disappointing. Dude was never really good as filling time in control segments, but he usually had enough effort and character stuff to cover for it, but now as Bland Heel, it's so apparent. Cody has flashes of good arm work, but Gabriel has no interest AT ALL in actually selling it, and they never go back to it. He wins with Cross Rhodes.
