CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Claudio Castagnoli/Ares, Since 3/20/2010 CHIKARA Young Lion's Cup Champion: Frightmare, Since 8/29/2010 ![]() CHIKARA Scornucopia November 20th, 2010 Easton, PA In the back, 3.0 is cutting a promo about being in a rut since losing to the BDK. Shane Matthews says he's here tonight to wrestle Los Ice Creams in a cage, but Jagged says it's not in a cage and says he just wants to eat ice cream. Wink comes over with FUCKING MISTER ZERO YEAH! Matthews is still mad at ZERO for beating them in the 2006 Tag World Grand Prix and says he wants him in a cage. Wink says they should team up as Two Point ZERO. Jagged says they already were 2.0 and they're 3.0 now. Everyone yells BOO YA. Match #1: 3.0 vs. Los Ice Creams They try to do an old-style CHIKARA pure comedy match with fan interaction, and it just doesn't really work here. They go on 15 minutes too, which is too long for this deal, and 3.0's cringeworthiness as pandering babyfaces even consumes the usually unstoppable Los Ice Creams comedy machine. Some fans come in for a dogpile pin to give 3.0 the win. 3/4* Match #2: Dasher Hatfield vs. Buck Hawke Not sure why he can't just be Shayne Hawke again, but he's still a great jobber. Hatfield's improvement continues and he wins with a DVD. ** Grizzly Redwood comes out and applaiuds, and he gets the mic. He congratulates him on that and on beating Brodie Lee last month. He says he was unable to beat him last month though, and Brodie Lee comes out. Grizzly slaps Brodie, BUT BRODIE KICKS DASHER IN THE FACE! THE ROUGHNECKS ARE BACK! They leave when Sugar Dunkerton comes out, and he helps Dasher up. Match #3: Ares/Tursas/Pinkie Sanchez/Daizee Haze vs. Da Soul Touchaz/Sugar Dunkerton Well, this happened. Too many average guys and a few outright bad ones, so this isn't much. For some reason, DST continue to have the BDK's number when Rockett hits Pinkie with a Flying Legdrop for the win. I have no earthly idea why the fucking Soul Touchaz are the ones who get this kind of push when they don't even work here that often and aren't particularly great in regular doses. ** Match #4: Rightmare [c] vs. Lince Dorado w/ Tim Donst [CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Championship] Donst interferes a ton and Sabato is the ref, so all hands are all deck. They still don't match up that well though, despite having some really cool spot ideas for the finishing run. Hallowicked comes out to stop Donst's interference. This lacked the drama of the YLC finals too, so this is just some average stuff. Wink Vavasseur comes out to intimidate Sabato so he counts normally. Frightmare hits Kneecolepsy for the win. **3/4 Match #5: UltraMantis Black/Mr. ZERO/Dragonfly/Jolly Roger vs. Icarus/Lance Steel/Rorschach/Darkness Crabtre YEAH CLASSIC CHIKARA IN THE HOUSE! It really upsets me that they can't put Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy back together for this match, but then Jolly Roger comes out. AND IT'S THE EVIL ONE STILL. CONTINUITY FTW. But we get UltraZERO back, which is fun. This is actually great since they got the classic CHIKARA "fun" vibe and they're so practiced together by this point. JOLLY ROGER IS MAD AT ICARUS FOR ENDING HIS CAREER IN 2005. FUCK YEAH ALL THESE CALLBACKS. Icarus ends up beating Jolly Roger with the Blu Ray. *** Match #6: The Osirian Portal vs. Obariyon/Kodama [1] Obariyon and Kodama once again look really good, and their aggressive basic heeling is such a breath of fresh air in 2010 CHIKARA where everybody tries to do super complicated stuff and tries to replicate classic CHIKARA comedy spots. The Portal actually brings it here, which is a nice change of pace from their last few months, and this maybe goes a little long, but you kind of just give it to them for the effort given how new to this Obariyon and Kodama are. Ophidian is beat with Obariyon's Flying DDT! Two points! *** Match #7: Jigsaw/Hallowicked/Fire Ant/Arik Cannon vs. Tim Donst/Vin Gerard/STIGMA/Max Boyer [Elimination Match] Hey, it's a majority of YLC winners! They're missing Sweeney, Jimmy Olsen, Player Dos, Helios, and Chuck Taylor. Not sure why they couldn't slot Chuck Taylor in there for Boyer or something, but I don't really get 2010 CHIKARA. This is kind of a letdown though as they do the deal where this only has 20 minutes and there's no elims until 13-14 in. Then they go wild with them in a super short time span. It's rapid fire until the end, only a minute or two tops between eliminations, and it's really annoying and ruins what they were building. Why even do an elimination match then? Jigsaw survives last and beats STIGMA last with several Superkicks. **3/4 |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Claudio Castagnoli/Ares, Since 3/20/2010 CHIKARA Young Lion's Cup Champion: Frightmare, Since 8/29/2010 ![]() CHIKARA The Germans November 21st, 2010 Philadelphia, PA In the back, Pinkie Sanchez cuts a promo. He says he's crazier now than he was when he destroyed Green Ant, and he's beat Fire Ant already, which means that Soldier Ant Ant is the only one left and he's in for a rough night. He says this is like his Christmas because while he didn't get to injure Green or Fire, he WILL get to injure Soldier Ant. Match #1: Soldier Ant vs. Pinkie Sanchez This was fun, but too short at barely 9 minutes. They had some nice hate and cool stuff going on. Soldier Ant ridiculously kicks out of Pinkie's Burning Hammer Neckbreaker deal, so fuck that. He's fine a few moments later, and he wins with the CHIKARA Special to continue the downfall of the BDK and Pinkie Sanchez. **1/2 Brodie Lee and Grizzly Redwood come out to talk about their attack last night, but The Throwbacks come out to fight them, and there's a rather large pullapart brawl. The Roughnecks leave, and Dunkerton challenges them to a tag team match for the season finale in a few weeks, and it seems like Brodie accepts. Match #2: Arik Cannon vs. Lince Dorado Cannon gets 10 minutes, and while he almost never has classic stuff or really remakable performances, he always has great little matches like this. Lince's heel stuff is good and Cannon hits super super hard. Lince hits a head spike Flying Headscissors Driver type deal, and Lince follows with the SSP for the win. Cannon never getting a permanent gig anywhere after the mid 2000s is so strange. *** Match #3: The Olsen Twins vs. Vin Gerard/STIGMA [1] This was much better since they got more time and everyone seemed to be much more on the same page. Real good heel/face stuff going on, and Jimmy Olsen continues to be a top 5 guy in CHIKARA when he actually gets a chance to go to work, although he is on the way out. Colin ends ups reversing a roll up from Vin into one of his own for the win! *** Colin and Vin fight post-match and their teammates break it up. In the back, Tim Donst cuts a promo. He says for like 7-8 years, everyone said Hallowicked was the best YLC Champion ever, but that's no longer true after he won and held the Cup. He says he's beaten STIGMA, Jigsaw, Arik Cannon, and Fire Ant in the last month and he's been to Japan and main evented Osaka Pro, and Hallowicked's never done that, and he's going to beat Hallowicked tonight too and prove his point. Match #4: Hallowicked vs. Tim Donst This is only 5 minutes and an angle, but the angle isn't such that they couldn't have done it with a real match. Donst isn't amazing or anything, but Hallowicked does the best he can with his opponent and the time given. Donst pulls out a shoelace and chokes Hallowicked out with a Rear Naked Choke with the lace hidden from the ref. I LOVE that finish and I'm glad it actually worked finally. But Tim Donst is no Jimmy Rave. ** Match #5: UltraMantis Black vs. Ares [Falls Count Anywhere] Derek Sabato is the ref, so there will be BDK 'nanigans. Like with Donst/Hallowicked, UMB does what he can with a very limited BDK wrestler, but he has booking on his side here. They work the stip really well and UMB does some cool crowd brawling stuff, including a dive off a cherry picker to Tursas and Ares. Obariyon and Kodama come out to support UMB and take Tursas out, but a cloaked man comes and takes them away. UMB is distracted by this, and Ares hits UMB with his own Praying Mantis Driver on a chair to win. God fucking damnit. **1/2 Match #6: Mike Quackenbush/Jigsaw vs. The Osirian Portal vs. Chuck Taylor/Icarus vs. Sara Del Rey/Daizee Haze [3] [Elimination Match] This is great! Lots of good pairings in here. And then Daizee Haze is also in there, making everyone look awkward at points when they have to sell for this rail thin heroin addict looking girl. Chuck and Icarus vs. QuackSaw is the obvious best pairing, so naturally, Jigsaw eliminates them first with a Brainbuster on Icarus. Naturally. Quack abruptly eliminates the Portal too with a Butterfly Superplex on Ophidian, and they now have two points. The final run now almost brings this down, and this match should have gone in reverse. They finally get Daizee alone in the payoff to all year and Quack hits the Quackendriver I and they finally get three points! *** Da Soul Touchaz come out to do a raffle and their manager C-Red brags about them having the BDK's number. The BDK comes out and destroys them now and Ares gives C-Red the Tiger Driver and their female manager gets a Piledriver from SDR. Great. This feud is what's been carrying CHIKARA all year, so it needs to continue of course. FUCK this company. God damn. Match #7: Frightmare [c] vs. Johnny Gargano [CHIKARA Young Lions Cup Championship] This is kind of a letdown, and lacks that crazy energy and vibe that their first one had. I can't put my finger on why that is, but it was just different. Maybe because the Arena is fucking dead all the time by this point, so they're not going to recapture the frantic smaller venue energy. Lots of cool stuff though, and Frightmare pulls off the win with a Super Kneecolepsy. That's the proper way to end it. If it's all about cool moves, than the biggest move of all should be the end. **3/4 Match #8: Eddie Kingston vs. Homicide The story is that the BDK booked this way back in the fall in the hopes that Homicide would destroy Kingston, but Homicide doesn't loan his shit out, at least during his babyface return tour. And yeah, speaking of? Huge disappointment. THEY WORK A NORMAL MATCH. WHY THE FUCK WOULD UMB AND AREA GET THE ARENA BRAWL WHEN YOU'VE BOOKED HOMICIDE/KINGSTON?! It kind of drags and Homicide mostly eats Kingston alive before the end, and Kingston wins with two Backfists to the Future. **1/2 |

CHIKARA Campeones Des Parejas: Claudio Castagnoli/Ares, Since 3/20/2010 CHIKARA Young Lion's Cup Champion: Frightmare, Since 8/29/2010 ![]() CHIKARA Reality is Relative December 12th, 2010 Reading, PA In the back, The Osirian Portal is trying to cut a promo about their tag match. Wink comes over and says he thinks they should have a trios match tonight and be a trio, and introduces them to their partner, Johnathon Gresham. UGH. BOO. FUCK THIS GUY. They don't trust him since he's not Egyptian, but they say they have wanted to be a trio again, so they go with it. Match #1: The Osirian Portal/Johnathon Gresham vs. Lince Dorado/Pinkie Sanchez/Delirious w/ Tim Donst This is alright, I guess. Lots of bland heel stuff from the BDK and not nearly enough of Lince being a show-off rudo like he was in the first half of the year when he was great. The Portal don't do a whole lot, and you get the feeling everyone in this is totally fine with just putting on an average match and heading out. They do some decent stuff in the finishing run, but there's a few totally bullshit things like a Double Dragon Screw from Gresham, and Gresham and Sanchez having the most limp wristed version of the Joe/Ki spot where they throw their tape and pads off to throw slaps and elbows ever. Amasis beats Pinkie with a 450 Splash. **1/2 The BDK walks out on Pinkie post-match due to another loss, but Eddie Kingston comes out hits him with the Backfist to the Future! Delirious and Lince Dorado come back and he fights them, but Tursas also comes out for a 3 on 1. He hits Kingston with a Big Splash off the middle rope, and that asshole Dieter Von Steigerwalt comes out to start their match right now! Match #2: Eddie Kingston vs. Tursas Fun 5 minutes based on Eddie struggling against the size and power. Tursas had some fun gradual selling throughout the match, and Kingston broke out a fucking Frankensteiner, which was wonderful. He gets Tursas reeling with chops and Lariats, and hits a Backdrop Driver for the win. **1/2 Match #3: Tim Donst vs. Jimmy Olsen Jimmy does what he can, but this is 8 minutes and CHIKARA is insistent on now making Olsen look like a piece of shit now that he's taken a stand against his CHIKARA branding and is back as himself and not Equinox. I hate this fucking company. His punches and everything are super great and he's easily better than Donst. Derek Sabato is the referee and saves Donst from the CHIKARA Special. Olsen taps to the Inverted CHIKARA Special. **1/4 Match #4: Hallowicked vs. UltraMantis Black This was longer than their match in September, but still only seven to eight minutes. I appreciate the brevity for a lot of these things, but god damnit, these two are actually good enough to use 10-15 in a meaningful and productive way. They have a fun sprint of a fight before counters at the end. Hallowicked's Graveyard Smash is blocked with an inside cradle, but then Hallowicked rolls into one of his own for the win. **3/4 Post-match, UMB calls for a truce, but FUCKING KIZARNY comes out with Obariyon and Kodama and another guy in a cloak. He says he built this dark army for him and demands payment in the Eye of Tyr. Mantis says he no longer has it, and Kizarny is mad, so he says UMB's life is about to become a three ring circus. They all attack him, but Frightmare comes out and convinces Hallowicked to save! Match #5: Fire Ant/Soldier Ant vs. Sara Del Rey/Daizee Haze Yeah, The Colony is back! This is also SUPER short and gets cut off when Daizee Haze breaks her nose really really badly off Fire Ant's sweet Flying Enzuiguri. This is bad, but I can't feel that bad when she's been booked like 100x stronger than a fucking rail thin anorexic girl should be booked because she happens to be Delirious' wife or whatever. Soldier Ant quickly puts on the CHIKARA Special, and she taps. *3/4 Match #6: Brodie Lee/Grizzly Redwood vs. The Throwbacks Brodie vs. Dasher is again amazing, but their partners hold this back in a big way. Sugar is still almost entirely useless due to his shitty cardio and refusal to wrestle like a god damned man. It's fine if you're not a great striker, but don't throw a ton of forearms then, maybe. Sugar thinks he's amazing at everything but doesn't know that he's below average at everything. Grizzly at least knows his weaknesses, but I don't understand his CHIKARA push. Dasher gets motivated by Brodie here again, and Dasher rolls up Grizzly to win! **3/4 Brodie attacks them post-match, and he beats up Dasher and Dunkerton with their baseball bat. He leaves with the bat as a show of dominance. Match #7: Vin Gerard vs. Colin Delaney Motivated Vin shows up, so this is a fun little match, if not quite great. COLIN WITH A TOPE SUICIDA! They start hot, but it dips a lot in the middle before they do cool stuff at the end. Colin uses his brother Jimmy's Basement Huracanrana deal for the win. Yay! **3/4 In the back, Claudio yells at all of the BDK for losing tonight, and he says they're all pathetic. Before the main event, Dieter brings out BDK ref Derek Sabato, BUT WINK COMES OUT WITH BRYCE REMSBURG! WINK KICKS OUT DIETER AND SABATO, AND BRYCE IS FINALLY A REFEREE FOR A CDP MATCH! The teams come out, and Claudio and Ares have Delirious with them, BUT EDDIE KINGSTON RUNS AND DRAGS HIM TO THE BACK! IT'S FINALLY EVEN! Match #8: Claudio Castagnoli/Ares [c] vs. Mike Quackenbush/Jigsaw [CHIKARA Campeonatos Des Parejas] This is an incredible payoff, and belongs in the CHIKARA mythos with payoff matches like Vin/Fire Ant, Hero/Quack, Colony/FIST, etc. It starts off hot with some great Quack/Claudio stuff, a stereo Tope Suicida, etc. AND QUACK GETS A FOLDING PRESS FOR THE UPSET TO GO 1-0! They isolate Quack's bad back and do a lot. Jigsaw gets in and thrown out, AND CLAUDIO DESTROYS BRYCE WITH A BICYCLE KICK! BDK REF SABATO RUNS OUT AND CLAUDIO PUTS QUACK IN THE INVERTED SPECIAL. SABATO FORCES QUACK TO TAP OUT AND IT'S 1-1. Jigsaw is all alone and Sabato's heel ref act shines here. He makes super slow counts for Jigsaw, fast ones for the BDK, and helps whenever possible. Jig is thrown out and they try for Quack. He sells pretty sell and has nice bursts of energy. Claudio overwhelms him and hits the Ricola Bomb, BUT BRYCE IS UP AND PULLS SABATO OUT AND PUNCHES HIM OUT! JIGSAW GETS BACK IN FOR A BURST OF SUPERKICKS, AND PINS ARES WITH THE JIG N' TONIC TO WIN THE BELTS! FUCK YEAH! ***1/2 |
