ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Mike Awesome, Since 9/19/1999 ECW Television Champion: Rob Van Dam, Since 4/4/1998 - LONGEST REIGNING CURRENT CHAMPION ECW World Tag Team Champions: Raven/Tommy Dreamer, Since 8/26/1999 ECW on TNN December 24th, 1999 Nashville, TN In the ring, Joey and Gertner introduce the show and Cyrus comes out. He says he's sorry to interrupt but the office needs a total redo on the opening, because the office hated it. He says Joey's part was great and says Gertner's whole dirty middle name thing is something the office hates because the people are tired of it. Gertner says this is wearing thin and there is no office! Joey says the rib's over and there is no ECW office. AND CYRUS SAYS HE WORKS FOR TNN! FINALLY! He tells them to work on a clean shtick and he introduces the show himself. He then goes to interview Masato Tanaka who is at ringside, but Judge Jeff Jones comes out. He says anyone who wants a title shot has to go through him, SO SPIKE DUDLEY COMES OUT AND HITS THE ACID DROP! BUT MIKE AWESOME COMES OUT TO ATTACK, AND PRESS SLAMS SPIKE DUDLEY INTO MASATO TANAKA! AWESOME CHALLENGES TANAKA RIGHT NOW, AND IT'S ON! THEY GET PULLED APART AND CYRUS SAYS TO HAVE THE MATCH! Match #1: Mike Awesome [c] vs. Masato Tanaka [ECW World Heavyweight Championship] YOU KNOW THE DEAL BY NOW. STUFF HAPPENS AND IT RULES. They change some stuff up, like Awesome now hitting a running Razor's Edge type Awesome Bomb off the apron through a table instead of the Liger Bomb. They actually change a TON of stuff here and it could have been my favorite match they ever had, but it ended before they could go to their usual level of insanity. Still really crazy, but not as much, I guess. Tanaka WINS THE TITLE WITH THE ROLLING ELBOW! YEAH! *** Awesome offers a handshake and puts the belt on him, but then clotheslines him. AWESOME BOMB OVER THE TOP AND THROUGH ANOTHER TABLE! In the back, Mike Awesome finds Cyrus and holds him against the wall. Cyrus says that was all Paul E. and he just wants the ratings. Awesome says he's gonna fuck things up for ECW and FMW and he's gonna kill Masato Tanaka next week. Cyrus says he's across the hall, so Awesome storms off. NEXT WEEK: MASATO TANAKA VS. MIKE AWESOME FOR THE BELT! In the back, Corino, Victory, and Rhino walk out of a room where Balls Mahoney is laid out. Rhino's hand and Victory's chair are covered in blood, and Rhino says nobody will ever bother Steve again, he promises. Rhino leaves and Steve says nobody upstages Steve Corino. Match #2: Super Crazy vs. Ikuto Hidaka Now they get 8 minutes, so it's even better! Same general idea, but Hidaka works much more of a standard US Lucha style spotfest instead of trying to play Tajiri, so that's probably why it's better. Super Crazy wins with the Liger Bomb. *** Da Baldies come out for a match against Tommy Dreamer and Raven and Joey announces New Jack/Angel in a KING OF THE STREETS MATCH for Guilty as Charged. Tommy and Raven come out, and then an Impact Players promo is aired, saying nothing new. Cut back to the ring, and Da Baldies are fighting a fan. Tommy Dreamer goes out to help, BUT LANCE STORM COMES FROM THE OTHER SIDE WITH A CHAIR AND DROPKICKS IT INTO RAVEN AS HE SITS IN THE CORNER! Credible joins him, and Da Baldies beat on Tommy as Raven gets double teamed. Credible bloodies Raven with a chain and they handcuff Raven to the entrance set and Credible canes him over and over. They pose in front of him, and Credible says quote the Raven, never again. Awesome angle, but there's still basically no reaction. No reaction after almost 2 years of him getting the advantage over huge stars EVERY week and winning every match he's in, and this motherfucker STILL goes on to be the champion in 2000 and keeps his push. God damn. |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Masato Tanaka, Since 12/17/1999 ECW Television Champion: Rob Van Dam, Since 4/4/1998 - LONGEST REIGNING CURRENT CHAMPION ECW World Tag Team Champions: Raven/Tommy Dreamer, Since 8/26/1999 ECW Hardcore TV December 24th, 1999 Nashville, TN The closing angle from TNN opens the show. Awesome vs. Tanaka then airs. Camp Corino comes out, and Steve Corino gets on the mic. He says each and every one of you should know by now that Steve Corino always gets the last laugh. A certain Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney tried to ruin his fun at the Limp Bizkit concert, so he had his monster do a little job for him. He says they were supposed to wrestle them tonight, so he has the referee do a ten count for them. Balls staggers out covered in blood and Corino asks what's wrong with him and what it'll take to make him realize that he's the most powerful man in ECW. Corino says he's got this one and sends Rhino away. He cheap shots Balls anyways before the match, and then he leaves. Match #1: Steve Corino w/ Jack Victory vs. Balls Mahoney This is whatever, and Rhino comes back out. Two tables get put up in the corner, and The Sandman very slowly does his full entrance to "save". He canes Corino, Rhino, and Victory, BUT RHINO PICKS HIM UP AND RAMS HIM THROUGH BOTH TABLES IN THE CORNER! Corino then turns into a chair shot from Balls, and Balls still pins him after all that. God damnit. *1/2 Rhino hits Balls with the Gore post-match. In the back, Doring, Roadkill, and Random Girl are having a Christmas party. Super Crazy comes in and says stuff, AND ROADKILL YELLS "POLLOS"! FUCKING INCREDIBLE. Joey Styles says her name is Elektra. Joel Gertner comes in after the break, and Roadkill gives him a bra. He smells it, and asks if there were any panties or recently worn shoes. They say no, so Joel walks off smelling it. Match #2: Rob Van Dam [c] w/ Bill Alfonso vs. Mikey Whipwreck [ECW Television Championship] Another really RVD showcase here as Mikey takes a bunch of lunatic bumps throughout and RVD got to actually control the match because of how Mikey is, which was nice. Mikey had a good comeback too, and they had some nice nearfalls before the obvious result happened. Other wrestler came to watch, conveniently there for Mikey to take a huge Back Drop onto. Tracy Smothers and Tommy Rich hit the ring to attack RVD in revenge for last week, BUT THE LIGHTS GO OUT! SABU! HE HITS ALL THREE WITH CHAIR STUFF! LEGDROP TO RVD THROUGH THE TABLE BRIDGE! YEAH! Joey announces RVD/Sabu for Guilty as Charged. After that, RVD kicks out of the Whippersnapper and hits the Van Daminator and Three Star Frog Splash to win. ![]() **1/2 |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Masato Tanaka, Since 12/17/1999 ECW Television Champion: Rob Van Dam, Since 4/4/1998 - LONGEST REIGNING CURRENT CHAMPION ECW World Tag Team Champions: Raven/Tommy Dreamer, Since 8/26/1999 ECW on TNN December 31st, 1999 White Plains, NY In the back, the Impact Players talk. Lance says Tommy better pray that his savior resurrects himself before Easter, and he better pray that it's on January 9th, but no matter if he's alone or has his partner, they're taking him out and taking the titles. Justin says if you think they have no conscience, they are guilty as charged. The segment airs again. In the ring, Joey and Gertner intro the show and bring out Mikey Whipwreck. Before he can talk, The Impact Players come out. Dawn Marie's Santa outfit is the best. Lance says this is Mikey's chance to make an impact and says they have a big wad of cash for him if he takes out someone. Lance says he's sold out before, so this isn't different. Joey tries to say he's not a sell out, but Mikey says he made more money in WCW than he did here, and he loves selling out. Lance says he's taking out Raven then, and Raven comes out. Match #1: Raven vs. Mikey Whipwreck the Impact Players stay ringside. Mikey goes on a rampage for 4-5 minutes and looks fantastic. He puts Raven through the timekeeper's table with a great elbow off the apron, throws some awesome dropkicks, etc. Raven makes his great babyface comeback, and he wins with the Evenflow. **1/4 The Players attack, and Lance drops Raven with a Superkick. Tommy Dreamer runs out to save and it cuts away. In the back, Francine goes to Tommy and says Raven is down and they need to help. Tommy says he saved him in the ring, so Francince says she'll help him then. In the back, Joey and Gertner are in front of a new ECW set and they announce Tommy/Credible next week in a Stairway to Hell rematch. Match #2: Yoshihiro Tajiri [4] vs. Super Crazy [6] [Best of Forever Series - Match #11] They get eight minutes, so it's great. Obviously. Joey announces them in a Dream Partner Tag at Guilty as Charged. Crazy does his great dives and lucha stuff, and Tajiri kicks super hard and has insane energy. Tajiri ends up bridging out of a Huracanrana pin attempt, and hits a Superkick to the back of the head and the Brainbuster for the win. *** In the back, Masato Tanaka cuts a promo in Japanese. Match #3: Masato Tanaka [c] vs. Mike Awesome w/ Judge Jeff Jones [ECW World Heavyweight Championship] For once, Awesome jumps Tanaka! This is their usual deal, and it's great. It's a little desensitizing by now, but I think this is their last match so it's okay. Still though, they don't change up nearly enough stuff to run this match as often as they do. ECW's relied WAY too much on rematches in 1999 be it RVD/Lynn, this, Tajiri/Crazy, Tajiri/Crazy/Guido, Dudleys/Balls & Spike, etc. They add some new things in near the end though, which is nice, like a Running Razor's Edge through a table in the corner. Awesome hits a Liger Bomb off the top falling the other way into the ring for the win and the title back. *** Spike Dudley comes out but Awesome attacks him. Spike's groupie comes out and gives Jeff Jones the Acid Drop, BUT AWESOME KILLS HER WITH A LARIAT. They get her out to end the show, but it hypes Spike up. He goes back at him and tries the Acid Drop, BUT AWESOME THROWS HIM OFF THROUGH A TABLE ON THE FLOOR! I love this feud. |

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Mike Awesome, Since 12/23/1999 ECW Television Champion: Rob Van Dam, Since 4/4/1998 - LONGEST REIGNING CURRENT CHAMPION ECW World Tag Team Champions: Raven/Tommy Dreamer, Since 8/26/1999 ECW Hardcore TV December 31st, 1999 White Plains, NY Match #1: Little Guido w/ Sal E. Graziano vs. Super Calo Happens. Super Calo does the best he can but Guido again can't decide what it is he wants to be. He does lame SHOOTAH~ stuff, but then generic cruiserweight stuff and then bad lucha and he's like the Rocky Romero of his generation, trying to do everything and as a result, excelling at nothing and nothing relly fitting together like it should. Sal puts Super Calo through a table, and Guido then hits the Unprettier, now named the Maritato, for the win. ** Before CW's match, Lou E. Dangerously again says this is not a tribute to Paul E. Dangerously. He says he would never pay tribute to a man who sucks, just like everyone in the crowd and everyone from New York. He now has "Beautiful" Billy Wiles in the group too. In the back, Rhino says that at Guilty as Charged, he's going to kick The Sandman's ass, and he can tell all his beer drinking buddies that he got his ass kicked by Rhino. Credit where it's due, they've done a much better job of building this PPV up than usual. Match #2: Kintaro Kanemura vs. CW Anderson w/ Lou E. Dangerously & Billy Wiles This is a showcase for Kanemura, but CW looks awesome here and has a hell of a Superkick. Spinebuster is also amazing, but Anderson accidentally runs into Wiles on the apron. He slams CW down and hits a maybe 7/10 Dick Togo level Back Senton for the win. ** Clips air of New Jack & Balls vs. Da Baldies. New Jack does his dive in the crowd, but in the ring, Angel staples Balls in the face and covers to win. Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka from TNN airs, along with the post-match. And then the now updated ECW Title history video to end the year. |

TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR: 1995: The Pitbulls 1996: The Eliminators 1997: The Dudley Boyz 1998: Rob Van Dam & Sabu This shouldn't happen in a promotion with a real or competent tag team division. A team shouldn't leave two-thirds of the way through the year and still get to win by this large a margin (relative to the points), but this is ECW and their tag team division WAS this team. ![]() 1. WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: 1995: The Sandman 1996: Sabu 1997: Sabu 1998: Rob Van Dam This award has always belonged to one of those ECW Original types that you always associate with the company, so 1999 is a departure from that. The entire year belonged to Tajiri and Super Crazy, as they basically carried the company matchwise as RVD became comfortable with his formula halfway through, The Dudley Boyz became actually great in the ring only a few months before they left, Sabu was gone half the year, Lance Storm was saddled with Justin Credible, and Spike Dudley wasn't used nearly enough. They traded spots between #1 and #2 almost on weekly basis depending on who wrestled on TV that week or had a better match. Then around November, ECW stopped booking Tajiri for about a month, and this shit became obvious. ![]() 1. SUPER CRAZY - 79 POINTS 2. Yoshihiro Tajiri – 67 3. Rob Van Dam – 64 4. Little Guido – 48 5.
