Roe had stood quietly to the side for the entire ceremony, her whiskered muzzle hardly showing her pleasure as several of her creatures were called forward for promotion. True, she'd known already who would get what rank, but it was still an immense, though thoroughly private, pride to know that the South Tower Guard were holding their own amidst the rapidly increasing ranks of Fortbeasts.

Now, as creatures formed a loud and cheerful line beside the food table, the red-gold otter had loosened her collar thankfully; her dress uniform was still slightly tight across the shoulders. She'd have to convince Laurel or Avirly to help her take it out a little. The only needle Roe was good with was one to sew her own wounds up, not her clothes.

Taking a plate from the stack waiting, Roe nodded politely to the creatures helping them serve the food, and waited for the line to move up a little more. The otter tried to ignore the close proximity of creatures everywhere; in fact, she realised suddenly that she was coping with it a great deal better than she had at her first Black Arch feast. A slight, self-conscious smile crossed Roe's face as she remembered her heartbeat racing as creatures pushed and shoved genially all around her, and the noise, goodness. Now, however, it seemed at least bearable, if not quite enjoyable. Maybe there was something to be said for growing up around other creatures.

Taking a hot mushroom flan, a farl of oatbread and a wedge of thick rich yellow cheese, Roe balanced a bowl of hotroot soup beside it all on her plate, swiped a mug of October Ale, brought all the way from Redwall, and went to sit at the closest opening she could find.

Plonking her plate down, Roe turned and caught Duran's eye. She raised her mug of ale in a silent toast; a slight smile crossed her face. The otter was pleased with how the day had progressed; up on the South Wall she could just see Telo taking a large plate of food to Oaktail and Juno, who were on guard that afternoon. Juno clearly was not happy about the arrangement.

Taking her seat, Roe glanced at her neighbours automatically. To her right was a shy little East Tower mouse; one of Talyn's terrorised creatures, apparently, who squeaked as soon as she recognised Roe as a Commander. The mouse buried her nose in a large plate of salad and didn't look at Roe again.

Roe shrugged one shoulder slightly, took a bite of cheese and bread, and glanced to her left. Hm. A large hare, what was his name? Some new beast - Rupert. She really must remember their names better, next time. The otter eyed the large heap of food on her plate, and then returned to her own. As long as he didn't steal her food, the otter was happy.
