Level One Writer Posts: 394 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: December 7, 2007	As the title would imply, I'm considering getting a tagboard for us too use here. My question is, however, would it be used? Would you guys like a tagboard? Would you use it more than the PM system to coordinate threads? Would it be used like IM between members that are online? Eventually I have a dream to give Black Arch a chat room that would take the place of the Compass Point Inn and serve as a roleplaying area for us that differed from the forum setup slightly. INSU had this and it seemed quite popular. But that's farther down the road, so when we talk about the tagboard think of it as separate from this chat idea. But yes, please give me your thoughts, and if you know any good tagboard hosting services or whatnot.

A tagboard is rather like a chat room only... it's not. :3 It's more like a mix between a chat room and IM. It's similar to a chat room because it's something members would type their name and message into and it would instantly appear on our site in a little box that would contain our tagboard. But it's different than a chat room because it's not really a room, just a little corner of a box that would be on our forum page. You wouldn't be able to fit as much text into the tagboard as you would a chat, which makes it a little more like IM. It would be a means for members that are online to talk directly with other members who are on at the same time without having to swap e-mail addresses or IM names, which could be quite advantageous to some of our younger members (or people like me who are sadly too busy to talk with everyone on IM all the time). Actually, it's also known as a shout board. You know what those are? DA has them for paid members, if I recall. Useful things for leaving general messages that people wouldn't particular bother posting. I post on various shout boards/tagboards from time to time and am known to say things like "Happy whatever-day-of-the-week-it-is!". Stuff like that. I hoooooope that clears things up a little. If not you might just have to wait and see for when we get one what they're like. And by the way, we do plan on getting one now. No one has objected and things are underway to insert a tagboard onto the forums. Keep an eye out.

So for the moment we have a nifty little shoutboard at the very top left hand corner of your BAF screen. It's a pop up at the moment, so if you've got them blocked you'll have to allow BAF through. Otherwise, enjoy! I will be getting the colours sorted and so on soon.

More like a news-thingy that members could use for more than news, than a popup that... doesn't popup. XD Sorry! But!
