"What do you mean, a party?" Juno ignored Roe's slightly horrified look as she took in the great piles of autumn chestnuts, ale jugs, plates and chairs that had taken over her lovely tidy, necessaries-only South Tower guardroom. "Well, not a real party. Haven't got enough ale for that, wot. Besides, Duran ate all the cheese. We've just got a new bunch of people coming in, and we've all been on high alert recently, wot. Time for some rest, relaxation -" "- and food," Roe finished, nodding slowly at the groaning table. "How many creatures are you expecting to feed, Juno?" The hare paused in blowing furiously on the small, new fire and glanced around the room. "Oh ... about twenty, wot. I've invited all the other Tower guards in as well, seeing as I stole most of their chestnut supplies to roast. Only seemed fair. And Duran's invited, of course, wot." Roe tried to say something, but the words 'stole' and 'Duran' seemed to be stuck in her throat. Juno was being very busy not looking at her, but collecting long-handled forks and skewering a few chestnuts experimentally, putting them over the crackling fire to see if they would roast properly. "I say, would y'mind getting more wood, Roe? I think East Tower has quite a nice pile outside their tower door, wot." Silently, Roe turned and climbed down the ladder to the wall. A party. In her precious tower. (OOC: Open to anyone in any tower, we're roasting chestnuts and getting to know each other IC better!) |

The hare's nose twitched immediately at the smell of roasting chestnuts. The smell of any food did that to him actually, but particularly food that was good to share between friends. Tel twiddled his black ears and strode into the South Tower with his irrepressible grin in place on his muzzle. "Wot ho! A chestnut roast! I assume I'm invited?" He smiled at Juno and then saluted casually. "The smell of cookin' food is a bally invitation to any hare as far as I know wot!" The ruddy hare bounded into the room. There was a new spring in his step owing to the change of seasons. Autumn had always been one of Tel's favorite seasons, right next to Spring, Summer, and Winter of course. Coming fully into the chamber now he propped his guard spear near the door and turned his attention to the small flames growing in the fire circle. Fire had always captivated him. Tel could sit and stare into a fire for a long, long while, if not distracted. He was however, quite distracted at this time. Food was cooking and other beasts were in the room. He looked this way and that, not spotting a certain otter he had hoped to see. "Miss Springleap? Is our winningly lovely Tower Commander planning on joining us? 'Aven't seen her Sungoldship in quite a while now..." Edited by Teltoli Riverbuck, Sep 15 2008, 11:06 AM.

(Urgh. This is a slightly awkward post, but it gets the point across, I think.) As it was, Uriah was in the midst of training some of the new recruits that Juno had mentioned. Ever since he had been given his orders by the High Commander, the badger had taken to his new position with a gusto: every new recruit that walked through the gates of Black Arch Fort were Uriah’s to work with as he saw fit, and he made sure that they were put to the test. At the moment, Uriah had sent the group to do a few laps around the grounds of the fort, so as to better increase their stamina and keep them in shape. He had given them orders to meet him at the base of the East Tower, but, seeing as how they were only on their third lap, it would still be a little while before the lot of them came straggling in. As such, Uriah had a deal of waiting to do. Usually, the badger would lead the group of them in their laps, forcing them to try and keep up with him. But these beasts were the greenest recruits he had seen in some time, so he didn’t want to push them too hard. Besides, this gave him time enough to set up the next stage of training for the recruits. So, for the time-being, Uriah was occupying himself by carving make-shift wooden swords out of a pawful of logs the East Tower guards had allowed him to steal. His large paws seemed to make the logs seem a deal smaller than they truly were, and the axe and knife he was using to chop and carve them into swords were diminishing their size by the minute. The large badger already had a stack of three swords at his side, and he was putting the finishing touches on a fourth when his group of recruits came thundering by once more. Looking up, he watched them pass by, noting which ones were lagging behind and which were keeping pace. “Keep it up, you lot of greenpaws! Coal, Duncy, pick up the pace! We’ve got a long day ahead of us: the faster you finish, the faster you get to relax. Move it, move it, move it!” Watching as the group of them continued running past, Uriah nodded in approval and laid the newly-finished sword down on the pile. Picking up one of the logs in one paw, the badger went about his work once more, carving and whittling and chopping, all the while glancing about to take in his surroundings. Uriah had decided that he liked it here thus far, though it was no Salamandastron. Then again, few things were. Nonetheless, the beasts here were nice enough, and they had given him good work; the badger couldn’t really complain. And now there was talk of a party of sorts being held in the South Tower sometime soon. Admittedly, Uriah wasn’t one much for parties, but, at the very least, he saw it as a good way to get to know everyone in the fort, which was as good enough a reason for him to attend. But that would have to wait until after the training was done. And so the badger sat, leaning next to a large pile of logs, musing to himself and carving wooden swords out of the logs.
