Bumbling through the forest

Staggering through the under brush uncertain of where she is going, a badgeress bumbles through the forest, seeking a place to rest in safety and with other good beasts. A tattered rucksack hangs from the end of a mud cover sword sheath in her belt, the sword safely nestled inside. On her back rests a mid-sized shield, flecked with rust, pitted by dents, and generally in bad repair. Clutched to her chest is a strangely spotless doll. Standing out amid the taters that are left of her tunic, she trudges on, not knowing what passes her, just that she must press on ward until she can no longer do so.

Oh how I do dearly hope I can find a safe haven soon, it's so quite out here all alone, and I'm almost out of food. I should have never left without knowing where I was going or at least taking a map.

Staggering out of the darkness of the woods and into the harsh light of the sun she holds a paw up to her eyes to try and keep them from being hurt as she looks around to find herself in a clearing, alone yet again, but in the distance is the faint outline of a large building. I wonder who lives there, I may as well go see, it's not like I have much better to do. she thinks before pressing onward.

Another day, another shift of guard duty. Eva had awoken early that morning. Her shift was supposed to start closer to noon, but the young haremaiden had been quite restless. The fort was quiet and that didn't always bode well. There was the saying that there was a "calm before the storm" or maybe the resident fort members were still cautious about the changing weather. Was spring really here or was there a lull in the weather until snow poured down upon Black Arch Fort again?

At nearly eight, Eva had left the fort to take a gander of the surrounding woods. There were plenty of guards for wall duty, but less to keep an eye on the forest to the east of the fort. Eva hadn't been at Black Arch for very long. She hated not being familiar with the land she was living in. Waking early provided an excellent excuse to leave the fort for a short while and explore. Eva was armed with her blades and bow, the latter of which was strapped to her back. She was dressed in a simple green tunic and black brown breeches, a nice camouflage.

She spent the first few hours just wandering through the forest and getting her bearings. At one point she drew her blades and practiced with the weapons. Eva was still a novice to a degree. She could fight with two blades, but it wasn't unusual if she dropped one. The maid was rather formidable with the bow, but she could still use more practice. As time passed, Eva glanced at the sky. The sun had shifted so she was certain her shift would start shortly. Time to head back.

Eva rubbed her neck as she moved through the woods. It didn't take her very long to break free from the trees and when she did, she was met with a rather surprising sight. The hare narrowed her eyes as a young badger ran towards Black Arch. How had she not heard the maid crashing through the forest? She glanced over her shoulder then back at the maid. Odd. What was she doing out here all alone? She looked young, but she was still a bit taller in Eva's eyes. Eva was only a hare after all.

Clicking her tongue thoughtfully, she ran towards the young badger. She slowed once she came close, not wanting to frighten the young maid. "'Lo, lass. Can I be of some service to you, wot?" Her voice was soft, but cautious.

Jumping at the sound of another living thing Korou shifts into a defensive stance quickly whirling around to see who said it. Seeing that it is a hare and not vermin she quickly relaxes. Taking up the hare quickly, she notes the camoflouge pattern of her clothes. She must come from that big building I saw a moment ago "Could you tell me where we are?" the badgeress asks in a slightly faltering, gravelly voice, giving away the fact that she hasn't spoken in some time, as well as hinting at the fact that she hasn't had water in a day or so. Suddenly her stomach rumbles and she blushes, sputtering out a quick appology for it and ducking her head slightly in shame.

Eva dropped her paw down to her short sword when the young badger went into a defensive stance. Normally, the hare wouldn't worry quite as much about her opponent acting defensive, but badgers were much bigger and much stronger than she was. Eva didn't savor the thought of her putting her life at risk, especially when she was only trying to help the maid. Her eyes raced over the badger, taking in her torn clothing and her thinner body. Odd..what had happened to her?

Once the badger had a good look at her, she seemed to relax a bit. This allowed Eva to ease her grip on her blade and she inclined her head curiously.

"Could you tell me where we are?"

"Indeed, lass. Ya are on the land o' Black Arch Fort. It be a spiffen place to live, wot wot, so long as you mean no harm," she winked at this and went to say more, but the badger's rumbling stomach cut her off. Eva lifted an eyebrow in surprise then realized she must be hungry, or at least parched if her gravelly speech wasn't any indication. The hare tapped her chin thoughtfully before she reached down to her belt where she had tied a small canteen. She pulled it off then held it out to the maid.

"Wish I had some food with me, lass, but 'hat will just have to do for now. Wot's your name and where are you from, wot wot?"

She didn't want to just offer the badger free access to the fort without at least knowing a little bit about her. It just wasn't safe, what with vermin roaming around here and there. Eva was hard pressed not to just bring the badger through the gates. She looked so tired and famished. Soon enough..soon enough.

Quickly accepting the canteen Korou guzzles the water down in a few swigs, leaving the canteen dry. Noticing she had done this, she blushes again.

"I'm so sorry, I drank all your water." she says appologeticly before hearing the hare ask "Wot's your name and where are you from wot wot"

"My name is Korou, it's a pleasure to meet you." the badgeress replies cutting a quick curtsy "As to where I'm from, I'm not really all that sure any more, I've been lost for quite some time now." she says before she hugs onto her spotless teddy. I think we may finally be able to rest teddy. She thinks, before blushing again and trying to hide the stuffed bear. Oh, she's gonna think I'm a little kid now as she coughs and asks "Why were you out here all alone?"

Eva shifted her weight on her footpaws as she watched the badger. She couldn't be very old...maybe a year older or younger than Eva herself. Sometimes she forgot just how young she really was. The hare had seen a lot in her short years of life...It was hard to watch some of the young warriors of Black Arch run around and play games when she had forgone such joviality since...well, she wouldn't get into that. Shaking her head, Eva eyed the maid in front of her as she gulped down the water. At the blush, Eva chuckled.

"I'm so sorry, I drank all your water."

"Nay apologizes, lass. 'Ah gave it to you after all," Eva replied in a gentle voice that was rather contradictory to her personality. She took the empty canteen from the maid and hooked it onto her belt.

"My name is Korou, it's a pleasure to meet you. As to where I'm from, I'm not really all that sure any more, I've been lost for quite some time now."

"Korou eh? That's a pretty name," Eva said and nodded. So, the maid didn't know where she came from? That was a pity, though at the same time Eva had to envy her. She would have given almost anything to not know what had happened to her family and- Oh stop it, she scolded herself. You can't do anything about it now, so stop thinking about it.

Eva grumbled quietly to herself then lifted an eyebrow when Korou hugged the teddy. The maid obviously was in need of some help and Eva didn't think she was going to cause much trouble at the fort, or so she hoped.

"Why were you out here all alone?"

The hare lifted an eyebrow then smiled lightly. "Well, I'm a scout for the fort over there," she gestured to Black Arch. "Wos just takin' a gander of the woods before my shift. Now, lass, you look in need of some food and maybe even a healer too if you're injured. 'Ah can take ya there if you'd like. Can't, in my right mind, just leave you out here what with you being so thirsty," she said jokingly. Eva gestured with her paw. "Come on."

Silently following the hare Korou hides her teddy bear while shuffling forward, a slight limping gait in her step that she hadn't noticed before. Hmm, when did that start? She thinks to herself before saying aloud "Thank you." before asking "So what is your name?" while blushing slightly. "I mean, you don't need to tell me if you don't want to, but it would be much easier for me to call you by your name wouldn't it?" She adds on, not blushing as badly now that she is slightly aquanted with the hare. ((there much better))

"Thank you. So what is your name? I mean, you don't need to tell me if you don't want to, but it would be much easier for me to call you by your name wouldn't it?"

Eva chuckled and glanced over her shoulder at Korou. She sent the badger a genuine smile, clearly amused by the young maid. "Hm...yes, H'ah suppose I'd rather be called somethin' other than hare, eh? wot!" The hare started forward and flicked her ears. "My name is Eva...Eva Temaro." It was strange to give her name off so freely, but she didn't think the badger meant any harm. She was young, tired, and obviously worn down from her travels. Though larger than Eva, the hare doubted that the badger was up for a fight.

The pair approached the gates rather quickly and after a few quick words with the guards, they were allowed access. Eva put her paws on her hips, waiting for the fort to open then turned her eyes to Korou. "Where would ya like to go first, lass? If you're hungry, there's a tavern. You can put it on my tab. Ef you're feelin' a bit hurt, I can take you to the infirmary. If you want rest, well, I can set you up in the splendiferous barracks so you can get a wee bit of shut eye."

The hare hopped on one footpaw and folded her arms. "Wot do you think?"

ooc: I am so sorry about the delay. I got really, really busy with school.

(Thats okay, I got kinda busy myself)
"Eva, I like that name, it pretty." The badger mumbles out as they aproach the gates. Blushing again as the hare as the hare asks where she wants to go, listening to all the places. "Do you think theres any place I can go that doesn't have many people. I don't know if I'm ready to be thrown into a large number of people right now." She replies, shuffling a foot nervously and holding her dolly tightly, quite anxious about what is soon to come. "It's just a bit scary, going from being almost completely alone to being surrounded by people....it's a lot to take in at once, I mean, if thats okay with you." She adds on blushing lightly and bowing her head slightly and looking at her feet as she keeps shuffling them slightly. (sorry if its a bit short, it's been a while since I've been able to actualy rp)
