So we all have details, quirks, and history about our characters that is perhaps too trivial or random to be included in their character bio. But that doesn't mean the rest of us don't want to know about it!

For instance, when I created Duran I actually modeled him a great deal off my own IRL dad. My dad just retired this past summer from twenty-seven years serving in the United States Air Force. He was a great leader in the AF, and a lot of time when Duran is faced with a decision as a commander I have him do what my dad would do in such a situation.

My dad, however, isn't a cheese maker. XD Just so you all know. Neither is he obsessed with ordering things alphabetically.

What about you guys? Share something we don't know about your character!

Oh this should be fun! Let me see. A fun fact about Narika is that she shares her birthday with me. Akira and I created her on Oct. 21st so that we would remember when she was born. She's officially going to be 6 years (in real years) old in Oct.

Eva: I added in her bio that when she laughs really hard she starts snorting or she just has these strange obnoxious chuckles. That's based on me. I snort when I laugh and I will end up squeaking, snickering, cackling, chortling....whatever you can imagine. I just have extremely strange laughs.

SilverRose: Heh, funny story about her. When I first started roleplaying, I had a character named Treeleaf but when I tried to join AOS, Treeleaf was already taken so I decided to make her daughter, SilverRose, my main character. As some of you know, Silver's mother is actually named Rosefern now. I based some of Silver's attitude off of my passion for writing. Early on she constantly wrote in journals or would write poems next to roaring fires. She's more focused on the healing now, but she still has that creative side of her.

Jelal Waveskimmer... well.

He is my very first role-playing character ever. Started out on Army of Southsward and had a fun career of one-liners and god-mode fights. Like this one time he got stabbed three times in the stomach fighting an assassin, whose cheek he then bit off, and then had to pull a friend back from falling out a window (which the assassin fell through and lived, glass and all). This was after he threw his sword at the assassin and hit him in the head with it. Fun times. I wonder if I should include an incident like that in this version's history...

But yeah, Jelal is my first character ever, lived through quite a lot, and boy do I love him. I don't really know what I based him off of... I suppose myself more than anything, or rather the part of me that's always optimistic and wants to have fun. I basically just wanted to make an all around nice guy.

Something you don't know... ah! He was created in the space of about twenty minutes. Name, history, and all. Just thought him up right on the spot. I suppose that makes him the most natural of my characters, and the one I think is closest to me.

I love these kinds of threads.

Ariel is nearest and dearest to me - I'm an avid kayaker with some sailing thrown in. She has a tattoo that I had designed to get myself, but somewhere between age 12 and 18 I changed my mind. In hindsight, probably for the best.

Lorna is based on the director of a camp that I worked for as a counselor for years. She was plump, eternally jolly, and absolutely horrible at making food - though she loved to eat. She really stood out in a crowd of outdoorsy nature junkies (ie: the blundering Lorna at Black Arch Fort). While the rest of us choked down whatever charred campfire food the campers didn't finish, the director kept a stash of Oreos, Peanut Butter and Nilla Wafers in her backpack, and she drove into town to re-stock from the nearest gas station several times a week. Like Lorna, she had an amazing ability to show up just as dinner was coming off the fire, ready for "just a quick taste!", and an even more amazing talent for disappearing when the pots and plates needed washing. She also wore brightly colored, shapeless scarves on her head and neck, regardless of the weather. She had the closest thing to a "mole" accent that I've heard - a combination of Northern Wisconsin/Upper Michigan.

Result: Lorna Thumbleburr.

Next!

Dear old Teltoli. My first serious character. I had a one before him, a squirrel named Skiptree Brushdog, but he was not fleshed out and I had no attachment to him. I remember when I created Tel. I was sitting in my college computer room about ten years ago looking at the application sheet for Fort Ruddler. It looked like such a fun place and I needed someone to role play with there. I began to type in letters until I ended up, and I have no idea how, with Teltoli Riverbuck. The last name just flew from my fingers onto the screen after the first name was up there :D

Tel is modeled after hares in BJ's books and that's about it. However, over the years he had taken on a lot of who I am. I care deeply about my friends thusly Tel's devotion to his maties. I had to make him proficient with weapons as the weapons was what originally drew me to Redwall.

What you don't know perhaps... Tel has fluctuated in age from way on the younger side, to graying hair, to the middle seasoned guy he is now. Call it my whims that cause his age swings :D

Since we seem to have flowed into how we came up with our characters, I'll keep on going. Like Jelal, Orion was my very first RP character, and he's gone through a lot of changes. The first time I used him was on a very random RP where he was a giant squirrel. His last name started out as Driftail. I kept that last name for a site or two, and decided to change it. I don't know what it is, but I've always liked those dark, brooding characters with tragic pasts, and so that's what Orion became. His tragic backstory started out as cliche as it sounds (although I honest-to-goodness that it was original at the time), but over time, I like to think it's taken on a uniqueness of its own. I've become very comfortable writing him, and more often than not, he's the character I always sign up as on a new RP site. His name came about from my surfing about the internet. I stumbled across something that said Orion was somehow a derivation of Elijah (my real name), or something like that. I think Orion is an awesome name, and so that's how that came about. Don't quite remember where Fulcry came from, although I'm pretty sure I just thought it sounded cool.

It's always fun to try out other characters, though, especially ones that are nowhere near as gloomy as Orion. That's where Amos Charp comes from. I wanted him to be the quintessential jovial uncle-type character. Nothing tragic has ever happened to him, and he's a fun beaver to be around. Basically the opposite of Orion. Charp is a derivation of carpenter in a different language; I just cut off the end.

Dale, I think, finds a balance somewhere between the two. He's had a tragic past that I like to think is a lot different and more developed than most, but he's somewhat well-adjusted. He has that happy, smiling side like Amos, but also a darker, brooding side like Orion. I've always liked the name Dale, and I was reminded of it when I had a classmate of that name. His last name just sounded nice and tempesty.

All three have their similarities, but they are very different when writing them. Now some facts. Let's see...
Orion is actually his twin brother who took his name when the original Orion died at the age of 10.
When he was a youngster, Amos was really hungry and took a nibble out of one of his father's works-in-progress. His dad wasn't happy.
And I'm still sounding out Dale.
