- HUMANS
-
-Native planet(s) / System: Earth/Terra-Sol system
-Galactic Standing: Humans are one of the newest members of the galactic community and are viewed much like children coming into the world. Some races nurture and encourage their growth while others view them as too aggressive and ambitious to be allowed to have the kind of firepower they have.
-Commonalities: Humans are well accepted by alien races, though their are those who don't trust them. Typically if humans show up something is either going to get done or get blown up.
-Any unique biology - Humans are unique in a number of ways. Their ability to drink grain alcohol is the most commonly mocked, the term "pick your poison" being a common phrase by alien bartenders. (Any other race who drinks grain alcohol will be affected the same way humans are when they drink rubbing alcohol.)
They are also able to utilize adrenaline, a chemical pumped into their bloodstream during situations of high stress that spikes their physical capabilities and speeds up their brain's ability to process information so the world around them seems to be moving much slower, allowing them to think more clearly.
Humans have a shocking ability to adapt. While the calathar are rigid and tough to kill, humans will actually make it so they enjoy the awful place they live in. Humans can take any conditions and make them livable through sheer stubbornness and acclimation and will fight with absolute ferocity even when backed into a corner. The human will to live is unmatched.
A very unique aspect of humanity is their severe genetic diversity makes them the only species able to carry and birth hybrid children though the human genes will be dominant. -Typical lifespan: With better technology humans have extended their average lifespan to 150 years and age at 2/3 the rate they used to.
- Biology
-
You know damn well what humans look like.
- History
-
In the year 2132 humanity received definitive proof that aliens existed when a hostile alien race invaded their planet with intent to exterminate them. Humanity's hardiness and natural love of war kept them alive for 3 years before they were finally pushed into holes to hide in. Led by General Caleb Barten the humans mounted a heavy resistance, his leadership pushing them to keep fighting even on the brink of extinction. His refusal to go out with a whimper kept humanity alive long enough for another alien race to arrive and started pushing the hostile race back.
After the war to save their planet humanity grew together as a species rather than as certain nationalities or race as they all had to fight together in order to save themselves. With this new brotherhood established, they turned their focus on expanding throughout the universe. Their broken population spent 150 years attempting to repopulate before finally scattering out into the galaxy to explore and live among other species.
- Culture
-
Human culture is diverse and unique, spanning across the spectrum. When it comes to war, however, overkill is an understatement. After their failure to stop an alien invasion they have focused heavily on raw, destructive power in order to wipe out an invading force before it ever fires a shot. Humans are creatures of pleasure. Sex, alcohol and partying hard are common stereotypes about their race tothe point that the calathar military prefers leave in human areas because they throw the best parties.
-Economy --Mercenary work, off world mining, natural gas production and weapons manufacturing keep the human government profitable.
-Religion --Religion on earth has been heavily toned down, no longer being allowed to affect government decisions. The big three (Christianity, Islam, Judaism) are the major religions though smaller beliefs and mythologies are still prevalent (The sons of Odin are actually a very popular mercenary group.)
- Government
-
The human union is a government built up of individual governments who's elected leaders meet in the great halls of the Talon building located in northern canada to vote on major decisions, though individual countries have their own private militaries for dealing with internal problems.
- Military
-
Humans have a highly trained and disciplined military, expecting the best from their soldiers. They tend to rush head first, guns blazing but aren't shy about ambushes or small, covert groups making small strikes. Humanity proudly has an open military wielding powerful plasma based weaponry.
There are several groups of special forces within the human species, but they would all prefer you never heard of them.
- Notable Members of Species
-
General Caleb Barton is remembered as one of the greatest leaders to ever live, and is frequently spoken of when Earth's invasion is discussed.
- Worlds
-
Humans have, with the aid of the calathar, colonized nearly their entire home solar system. They can also be found in smaller colonies throughout their local clusters.
