Welcome to the forum rules, please take the time to read all the rules as breaking any of them may result in you losing your ability to post on these forums. The rules will be divided into 3 sections based on the severity of the punishment you will recieve for breaking them, they are - Minor offenses, Major offenses and Extremely severe offenses. Also note that you will not always recieve the punishment a certain rule is grouped under, other factors will decide your punishment, such as how severely you broke the rule (E.G. Posting 1 thread titled '....' will be a Minor offense, but posting 50 of these threads (or attempting to) will result in a ban), your attitude on the forums (If you are causing problems such as encouraging flaming (E.G. you often post in threads calling people a noob etc) and then proceed to create spam threads you will likely recieve a harsher punishment based on that). your past offenses (if you repeatedly break the same rules over and over again you may find very minor offenses having severe penalties, this also applies for breaking a lot of rules in a fairly short space of time). - - Minor offenses - - Spam - Posting pointless messages or creating pointless threads will result in your warning level being increased depending on the severity of the spam. You should already know what spam is, but here are a few examples anyway: A thread you create that has nothing to discuss, or the topic of the thread is something very stupid (E.G. A thread titled "I am a cheese" Then the first post says "Yes i am" would be considered as spam). 1 word replies, if you don't have more to say than a single word on a thread there isn't much point in posting at all, reading a thread full of 1 word replies is not very interesting to read and annoys most people (This includes posting things like 'gratz' on achivement threads, 'lol', 'lmao', 'rofl', smiley only posts ETC). It's mainly common sense knowing what is spam and what isn't, also note spamming to get your post count up will not work, spammers post count will be deducted along with increasing their warning level. Duplicate threads - Do not post copies of other threads, if you're thinking of creating a new thread such as 'max hits' make sure there isn't already an active topic made for it. If this rule doesn't get followed some of the sections could end up having multiple versions of the exact same thread which is pointless. You will not be punished for breaking this a small number of times, but if you are repeatedly breaking this rule often your warning level may be increased. No large images/signatures - There's no exact pixel limits on the allowed size of an image posted on the forums, so just use your common sense, if an image seems pretty big please either resize it or choose another image that is a suitable size. Screen shots of the Runescape screen are fine, an example of a large image would be your full computer screen, for something like that crop the image or post the image as a thumbnail. If an image is identified as being too big it will be removed by the Admin or a Moderator. A link to the image will be posted in it's place and a quick explanation saying your signature/image was too big. Again this one will not result in a punishment UNLESS you are repeatedly breaking the rule. Threads aimed at one person - This is a public forum and threads should be about a topic lots of people can talk about. Posting a thread aimed at getting the attention of a single person will be locked. If you want to get in contact with somebody use the message system on the site (Please note, misusing the messaging centre as explained later is also breaking the rules). - - Major offenses - - Insulting other people/flaming - You must not make insulting posts aimed at a specific person or a group of people, if you don't like someone keep it to yourself. Minor insults such as 'idiot' etc will fall under minor offense section but for the most part flame wars will likely have harsh punishments for those involved, do not flame people. If someone insults you they will be dealt with by the admin/moderators, do not flame them back or you'll end up getting into trouble for it too. Misusing the personal message system - All messages you send via the message centre on this site are viewable by the Admin, using it to 'secretly' break the rules will result in a very harsh punishment. Sending spam to people, insulting them etc. Also note, if you wish to contact the Admin or a moderator, make sure your message is about something important, this means do not send messages to the admin/mods along the lines of asking them if they will add you. Only message them for important things such as issues you may have with the site/other users/rules etc. (Note, this is entirely up to the moderator themselves, if they feel you are abusing their inbox they can take action against you, some moderators may welcome any PMs, whilst some may not). Asking for personal details - Your punishment will depend on what you ask for. Personal details are to be kept to yourself, these forums are accessable by ANYONE, posting details on this website will be visable by anyone who looks on the site. Some personal details can be used to possibly find out who and where you are in real life, so it is very important to keep them safe. Giving out your personal details will also result in a punishment for you as well as the person who asked for them (if any). Personal details include: * Full Name * E-mail address * Telephone number * Home/school/work address Breaking Jagex rules - Some of their rules will fall under the extremely severe offenses, but some will fall under major offenses. These would include - Item scamming, bug abuse, Account sharing/trading, multiple logging in, using third party software, encouraging others to break the rules, real world trading, asking for personal details. Discussion of breaking these rules on this forum is forbidden and you will be punished for posting it. (E.G. Posting a 'lure loot' thread, luring is against Jagex's rules so these type of threads are not allowed, posting a goal thread saying "I will be training my woodcutting on my main and my pure, i will be logging into both at the same time to get faster money" this will also break this rule). To avoid this rule just don't break Jagex's rules :) - - Extremely severe offenses - - Inappropriate images - Posting pictures of nudity, extreme gore etc will very likely result in an instant ban from this website. This forum is open to people of any age, there could be young children posting on/reading the forum and this type of content is not appropriate for this website. Linking to malicious/inappropriate websites - Whilst most links are allowed, anything that links to a website that is inappropriate or contains viruses, keyloggers etc will result in an instant ban. Any further action that can be taken against you will be. Websites containing malicious code are against the law and information the forum gathers about you will be reported along with the website linked to. Password scamming - Attempting to get someones password from them will result in you being banned from this site. Jagex staff impersonation - Any accounts created which are clearly attempting to impersonate a member of Jagex staff will be banned. It is very unlikely that Jagex would create an account on a random Runescape forum, don't believe anyone who says they are Jagex staff. Jagex will only contact you through your message centre on http://www.runescape.com or http://www.funorb.com |
