The fabric hanging over Shaymon's bed was slowly becoming more and more boring. Incredibly so, almost to the point where she'd forgotten why she was there in the first place, which was amazing considering how distressed she was over the news she'd too recently heard.
But Shay wasn't in yet, and it was getting late.

She rolled over onto her side, choosing to stare at the bed next to his instead. Henri's? Or Cyprus'? She guessed it was Cyprus'. It had the feel of a pureblood's section... even though such characteristics hadn't rubbed off on Shay who had a pair of dirty socks lying at the end of his bed and his books spilled all over the foot of the bed. If she were to roll over, she'd find an equally messy section of the room. Probably Henri's side.
She hadn't seen that much of Henri, which was probably a good thing. She'd heard about what happened with Riu, Will and him in the court.

She heaved a sigh and buried her hands under his pillow, turning her face into the cotton. It smelt of him. Like soap... and toothpaste. She chuckled to herself. She was no doubt sticking her face into a drool spot.
She rolled back onto her back.

Shaymon was confusing her. Something that rarely happened. Where she still had strong feelings for him that seemed to go past normal cousin feelings, she had pushed it firmly aside for her own well being. Her own sanity. It was always there... along with a strange pain she'd been feeling lately. Not when he was around Ev, but when she heard things like today. What she'd come up to talk to him about.
Supposedly, he'd been seen around the school with various girls in stages of flirtation. Completely unlike him...
Especially since he had Ev.

He knew he wouldn't deliberately hurt Ev. It seemed like he was running from something...

She frowned up at the ceiling, than sat up- her hair falling into her face, black long sleeved T-shirt rumpled- as someone entered the room. "Finally." She breathed loudly, than blushed upon realizing it wasn't Shaymon at the door.

ooc: In this case Cy is played by both Mina and Angel, his two original owners before he was given to me :P haha

bic:

Cyprus didn't know why but when he was in the library a while ago, he had the strange urge to skip dinner and just crash in his dorm room.

Fortunately, his stomach wouldn't hear the half of it. So he devoured his steak-and-kidney pie and drowned it with pumpkin juice. Butterbeer was something he rarely wanted.

He adjusted his brown messenger bag and pushed the door to the Quesne commons. It was getting dark outside, and if he hurried, he could catch some Green tea in the Cerise before it turned into a nightclub after nine o'clock.

His blue eyes smiled at a kid he managed to talk to yesterday, when the faucet downstairs wouldn't turn off.

He was getting social. And he liked it. Very much.

But his mind wandered back to the thought that had been haunting him since his talk with Will Ang. Should he really ask Lynn Felder out? What if she had a boyfriend? Or worse, what if she said no? What was he going to do then?

He couldn't hide in the cloak closet anymore, he sent a letter to Clara and Lara about his crush (though he did't exactly say that he had a crush) on Lynn Felder and both of them demanded that the next time there was a party, he'd have to introduce Lynn and (it was Lara's idea) Riu Felder or else he'd never get peace and quiet till he was thirty.

A female snow-white owl with glittering green eyes came swooping into the room, landing smartly on Cyprus's outstretched arm. Good thing he wore a midnight blue sweater, Siren's (the owl) talons could leave a nasty scratch.

"Good girl." he whispered, stroking it's beak affectionately before opening the door to his dorm room.

To his (and the bird) surprise, someone was sitting on Shaymon Ross, his roommate's bed. Lynn Felder. The most beautiful girl he ever lay eyes on. He felt his arm go down and the bird screech slightly, giving him a disappointed look before landing on the girl's shoulders.

"Siren!" He urged, telling it to let go of Lynn. It did, eventually, and settled itself on his bed instead. He needed to train his owl better.

"Sorry," he muttered, feeling himself go red. "My owl can't help meeting new people." He put his bag on his study table and sitting beside his spoiled but friendly owl.

He brushed it's feathers with his finger and looked back apologetically. "I'm guessing you're waiting for Shaymon? I'm sorry about Siren's talons. They're pointy." He yelped suddenly as his owl bit his finger.

"Ow." Though not bleeding, his finger went red. And so did his face.

Lynn could have sworn it was Shaymon entering the room in the beginning. Both Cyprus and him where tall (though Shay was taller...) and both had fairly light hair. It couldn't have been dark Henri at any rate.
She was incredibly embarrassed for mistaking Cyprus for her cousin though, and sat up on the bed, where she'd previously been sprawled in a most unladylike manner across the comforter.

"Sorry. I thought you were-" Her accent was there, and her voice dropped away as the owl on his arm flew at her.
She gasped and automatically held up her arm for the owl to perch on, ignoring it's claws as it dug into the soft flesh on her upper arm. Their own owls at home had their claws cut significantly as not to cause the pain that Cyprus' owl was causing.
She watched as the owl flew onto Cyprus' bed- the one she thought was his- and followed Cyprus' progress next to him.

She chuckled as the owl bit his finger. "Apparently owls don't take well to being called 'pointy'." She swung her legs over the side of the bed to face him better. Their knees almost touched in the small amount of space separating his bed from Shay's. "She... he's..." She laughed. "It's beautiful." She reached out a finger to brush along the owl's snowy plumage before removing her hand to tuck a curl behind her ear.

Still smiling, she looked up from the owl to his face, momentarily forgetting what she was going to say. His eyes were so startlingly blue...
"Uh..." She blushed. "Have you seen Shay anywhere?"

He hoped he wouldn't say something like, 'oh yeah... I saw him with that girl, so-and-so.' She desperately hoped the rumors weren't true, but she had a strange feeling she was kidding herself.

"Siren's a girl." Cyprus said after laughing at her owl statement. "Had her for an egg when I was three." He added, quickly reminding himself that Clara was also the one to get an owl egg for her third birthday. Lara hadn't had her owl until she was four. Come to think of it, Lara wanted a horse when she was three.

"Uh..."

She blushed. A faint color of red appeared along her tanned cheeks and Cyprus felt his throat go dry.

"Have you seen Shay anywhere?"

Cyprus shook his head and raised a finger to brush his owl's feathers when he realized that Siren wasn't there anymore. He turned his head and saw that Siren was perched on a picture frame on top of his beside drawer.

There were two picture frames on top of his drawer. One was of his family (as in whole family) featuring his closest cousins and their parents (to tell the truth, he didn't even know some of his cousins' names). The second was just Lara, Clara and him.

He, personally, did not want the family picture there on his bedside table, but his father (somehow) magicked the picture frame into jumping immediately onto Cy's drawer while he was unpacking. Not only did that family picture was shrunk just to fit the frame, the only person who managed to look comfortable was Clara. The rest moved rigidly and you just knew that they were uncomfortable.

His second picture was a whole lot better. It was the three of them (Lara Clara and Cyprus) in the beach while riding their horses. And the best thing about it was that they were smiling and having the time of their lives. Cyprus suddenly missed them.

"I'm not exactly the one to ask where he is." He admitted as he reached out for Siren. She didn't budge.

Sighing, he gave the owl a skeptical look and said "Are you going to just bug me all day?" The owl shot him an offended look and it shot out of an open window. ((Let's presume it's opened))

"Siren's more like one of my cousins than anyone thinks." he said before sighing.

Lynn giggled at his frustration with his owl, as she reached out for one of the pictures sitting near Siren. They seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely in the picture, and she ran her thumb along the frame as she studied their faces. It reminded her of Shay, Riu and her, and the similar picture she actually had on her bed stand with the three of them. Her favorite picture.
She moved her gaze from the picture in her hand to the other one still on the night stand. A family photo. Looking as stiff and formal as the ones done in their own home.
This was the way things were.

She turned her gaze back to the picture in her hand. The two girls were very pretty...

Her smile didn't go away as she looked up, but her voice held a tad bit of disappointment no matter how hard she tried to squash it. "The girls are very pretty."

Please be relatives. She repeated it like a mantra in her head. Over and over. Not really knowing why.
Than again... she knew perfectly why. Cyprus was undeniably a cute boy.

She'd have to tell Ginette about him- even though they'd seen each other before- though she might be a little upset she wasn't going for someone older. Like Yont.
Honestly, that girl must have something wrong with her to even think that. It was verging on creepy.
Yuck.

She replaced the picture back on the night stand, running a finger down Siren's back before turning back to look at him. Waiting for an answer. On edge.

Please be a relative.

Cyprus followed her silver gaze to the second picture. He smiled to himself. He loved that picture. It was taken near their private beach house in Boca Raton, Florida. The picture showed a lovely sunset and three people on three different horses.

Clarabeth Cleopatra (more likely known as Lara), had pinned up her glossy waist-lenght jet-black hair while wearing a sage green sundress under a jacket with a darker shade of green to bring out her deep, clear emerald green eyes. She was ontop of an Andalusian, bay-colored horse and her shoes were sticking out of a pack that was on the horse's side. She looked as though she was modeling, not riding. But Clara had amusingly pointed out that Lara's horse might have been made for modeling too.

Clarabeth Sinthomas (obviusly Clara) prefered to wear her usual attire for riding. Pink helmet over her waist-lenght hair, sunshine yellow riding jacket buttoned all the way up except for the last one to just satisfy Lara, over a powder blue turtleneck and purple leggings. She, unlike Lara, kept on her own shoes. As always, her half sapphire blue and half brilliant green eyes were twinkling with her dimply smile in check. Her horse was as attractive as she was. A Welara horse, a mixture of the Arabian and Welsh horse, a glittering liver chesnut.

Cyprus was on a Ukrainian saddle horse, oatmeal-colored eyes and smooth brown with a diamond mark on it's forehead. He hadn't cared much about his appearance that day and had thrown on a khaki jacket, a green sweater, jeans and black boots that looked as though it had been from the year it was invented.

Their Aunt Sarah had been the one to take the picture (since not only did she own the private part of the beach and the beach house but the horses too). Cyprus kept staring at it until Lynn spoke up once again.

"The girls are very pretty."

He laughed and slipped off his loafers to sit cross-legged on his bed. He had to shift away slightly from her to keep his distance in check. "I think that Lara would have liked it better to hear that from your brother."

He tilted his head to the picture slightly and grinned lopsidedly. With a bit more teeth, it would have been named 'Madly inlove smile' by Clara. "You know, your brother is probably the only one who managed to fit the looks description that all of my cousins drooled over."

Quite true. Even Clara admitted the tall, dark and handsome only son of the Felders was incredibly cute. And, Celine had even said to some of her French friends (though Cyprus was sure that they'd be all over Riu too if they'd been there). Je l'aime.

I love him.

Sheesh, Clara and Cyprus had to rush off outside to burst out laughing in ten very long, very painful (hey if you'd laugh for that long, you'd be aching all over too) minutes.

"These are Clara and Lara." He pointed to the two of them individually. "Two of the most important girls in my life. I never know where'd I be if it weren't for my unpredictable cousins right now."

Well, not that unpredictable.

...Unpredictable cousins

Cousins.

She couldn't keep the smile off her face now, or the relief that seeped through her. She was fidgeting in her lap, her fingers brushing along the hem of her shirt and smoothing down her jeans. Her gaze reverted to her hands to keep from meeting his gaze. She knew if she met his eyes she wouldn't be able to hold back the blush threatening to surface, or the possible stutter or nervous laughter.

She laughed, however, at the thought of Cyprus' cousins fawning of her twin. Of course she'd heard girls whispering about him before. Heard them giggling in the bathrooms between classes, incredibly happy when they managed to squeeze a few words out him or got help on their homework.

Riu knew what they were trying to do, but acted completely oblivious so they wouldn't push too hard. She once heard him say to a girl who had called him 'cute', "Thank you" in the most boring voice he could manage before continuing on like nothing had happened.

He only seemed to 'loose his cool' around Will.

"I'm sure he secretly likes his growing fan-club." Not really, but it was funny.

She stumbled through the next sentence, it leaving her in a rush. "He's lucky to have so many admirers."
Fishing for compliments. Something her mother did all the time.

"He's lucky to have so many admirers."

Cyprus shrugged at her words but still had that lopsided grin on his face. Who couldn't like her? She was more outgoing than any of Cyprus' cousins.

He furrowed his eyebrows a bit. Somehow, even though it was impossible, he had met her before. Obviusly not in any of the gatherings. But then why did he have this strange, growing by the second feeling that he met her before Charms class.

Throwing away the crossed-leg position, he also let his smile reduce to a few teeth. He took a quick breath and tilted his head once more to the side, not to look at the picture, but to lock her gaze with his.

"I'm sure your boyfriend has one, too."

That was it. He didn't exactly know how but he didn't blush, nor wince nor do anything out of the ordinary of the sort. He needed to know whether she was available or not. If yes, well at least he had the guts to ask her that. If not, he either needed to spend months at St. Mungo's because of a heart attack or pluck courage enough courage for the next few weeks and ask her out.

No way was he doing the dare that Will asked him to do.

But then again, Lara and Clara would be after his blood for the whole midterm break.

Note to self: Go to Asia and visit either Jin Lee or Sunny Ozawa... or maybe Will Ang.

"I'm sure your boyfriend has one, too."

She blushed, momentarily startled before a small giggle escaped, quickly escalating into a full out laugh. She brought a hand to her mouth to try and stifle it, and tears of mirth had actually sprung to the corners of her eyes which were narrowed with amusement.

That was hilarious... if not potentially, horribly sad on her part.

"I don't have a boyfriend." She finally managed, highly embarrassed after, well... loosing herself completely like that. Crap. Now he probably thought she liked girls or something. "I mean... I've never actually dated anyone before."

Now she was a hermit.

"No one's ever seemed to fancy me much." Even more pathetic. She was digging herself further and further into a hole, and her accent was suddenly in place as she retraced her steps horribly.

A nose wrinkle. "At least... I don't think so." Why was she telling him all this? She seemed unable to stop really.
"Ginette was trying to find someone to set me up with, but her suggestions were..." She laughed again. "A little disastrous at best."

Yont. A 7th year. She couldn't even imagine how that would go. Gross.

She was slowly regaining herself, and she smiled. "I've always been a bit of a lone wolf." She shrugged. "I have my brother and cousin to take care of after all."
She was suddenly quite pleased with herself. Back on track! She'd even managed to muster a mock serious look to her face at her last words before her face broke into a full grin again. "What about you?"

Her mind was repeating this phrase over and over:
Please don't have a girlfriend. Please...

She blushed but then laughed (quite contagious mind you, if she hadn't stopped soon enough) and just well, blabbered on.

She didn't have a boyfriend! Heaven's baby sweet Jesus, thank you!!! Cyprus might have been screaming for joy in the inside but his face still managed to keep the warm, lopsided grin.

Who knew he had the power to control himself?

And another fact was that she never dated anybody before. Weird. Very weird, Cyprus thought. But he was still quite grateful inside.

No one's ever seemed to fancy her much? Was she mad? But then again, when somebody asked you whether you had a boyfriend or not and you just burst out laughing wasn't considered exactly sane either.

She crinkled her nose and Cyprus dialed his smile into a full blow. With all his teeth in check. Damn his cousins for not introducing him to girls.

Wait, actually, they did. Cyprus never really just liked them all before to ask them out.

"I've always been a bit of a lone wolf. I have my brother and cousin to take care of after all."

"Tell me about it," he muttered under his breath, he wasn't exactly sure whether Lynn heard it or not but his statement was very true. He and Clara had probably tried to stop hopelessly romantic Lara to fall for every cute guy since she was eight. She turned out all right though.

But what he heard from recent events, she didn't need to take care of them anymore. Riu Felder had Will Ang (though Cyprus was a bit doubtful about their relationship, Will seemed too... willfull whereas Riu was too quiet, one wrong move and they'd go *BOOM*), and Shaymon Ross had Ev Rose (or at least from the rumors that were spreading like wildfire). The small, pretty girl with blue hair, purple eyes and matching purple lips. Cyprus also doubted it, he had met Ev before in the Court. She seemed like a sweet girl, pure of heart and extremely fragile. Like fine porcelain.

Speaking of porcelain, did he ever told himself that Lynn's skin looked smoother than porcelain?

'She's an angel,' Cyprus thought as she regained herself. 'Not one human being could be seriously that beautiful.'

But her next words made his thoughts collide as though it was a train going four hundred miles an hour.

"What about you?"

"What about me?" He asked back, somehow, he didn't really want to talk about his life since he was going to get bethroned sooner or later whether he wanted to or not. He moved his legs and laid on his bed, his hands behind his head. He faced her and smiled sheepishly. "Well, let's just say that my love life never ceased to exist."

He shrugged on his back and faced the ceiling. He could even hear Lara say something if she was here.

'And if you don't ask her out later on, you definitly won't even know what a love life means.'

Sheesh. He was talking to the girl of his dreams and he was thinking about his cousin. How pathetic could he get?

She smiled and watched as he got comfortable on his bed, her head cocked to the side as she noted his smile. It was very nice, and she wondered why she hadn't seen it much.
Perhaps it had only come out now?... was he making fun of her?

Sighing, she stretched her back out, arms raised towards the ceiling, back arched like a cat before she settled herself and lay down, in much the same way he was doing, on her cousin's bed. She held her head up in her hands, her elbows sinking into the comforter as she flipped over onto her stomach, kicking her legs a moment before laying still.

"You've never been with a girl before?" She watched him curiously, than added quietly. "That seems hard to believe."
Not that he was a flirt or anything... but... he was impossibly cute. That smile made it even more obvious.

She had an idea, and she sat up as the full impact hit her. She grinned and spun her legs around off the bed again, than pushed herself off fully in one quick motion.
Instead of retreated from the bed, she slid onto his and sat right next to his side, crossing her legs and holding her ankles to her with her hands. "Well... since we both haven't dated anyone before..." She thought for a moment, thinking of a proper way to word this without it coming crashing down in a possibly embarrassing situation.
Not that it didn't have that potential already.

What if he said no? It was a definite possibility. She was actually fairly crazy to attempt this... but Cyprus seemed a pretty laid back guy. Plus, they were both British and came from the same aristocratic standing.
He was Will's friend- she thought so anyway- and Riu didn't seem to have a problem with him besides his closeness to his girlfriend. Shay was a bit odd towards him, but that could be adjusted with a little persuasion.

She took a deep breath, let it out, than launched into her plan. "Why don't we be girlfriend-boyfriend?" She rushed on. "As a sort of experiment."
She held her breath.

She moved around his roommate's bed a bit and faced him when she was contented with is position. Why was it that she looked a bit... shocked, when he told her that he never had a girlfriend before? He really wasn't that picky with girls, right?

But before he could say anything, she suddenly moved again. And ended up on his bed. In mere panic, he straightened to sit up and placed his pillow over his lap. It was a nervous habit of his. He had no idea why....

"Well... since we both haven't dated anyone before..."

Cyprus stared at her. But he could have sworn Lara was urging Lynn to go on.

"Why don't we be girlfriend-boyfriend?"

Before he could even react, she continued on.

"As a sort of experiment."

'Breathe,' Clara's voice said to him, together with a wave of her hand in his face.

'Breathe,' Lara said, with a voice of pure amusment.

'BREATHE!' They screamed together in his head.

He took in a huge amount of air, his head spinning. Had he heard right? Amazingly enough, he wasn't dead yet.

But his face remained the same, still smiling as he smoothed the pillow case unneccessarily with his hand.

His face held a look of a bit of teasing amusement but inside, he was just a millimeter close to getting a heart attack.

"Are you suggesting we do what we think we should do in a relationship? And we rate each other at the end?"

He hoped so. Whatever Lynn was planning hadn't even started and he was already giving her a hundred gold stars for even thinking of that idea. He wished he thought of it.

But then again, he wouldn't have the guts to say it to her.

His calm, teasing expression still in tact, he cut in before she could say something.

"If I may, I'm throwing in a few rules to make it more interesting... for both of us." He smoothed his pillow case again. "Will dared me to ask a girl," He didn't specify exactly which girl, since she was already next to him. "out in exchange for her name. I agreed and swore to myself that I'd ask her out on Monday." He was swearing now, anyway. "It's friday today. How about we have a two-day relationship and if all goes well, you might meet who I'm asking out on Monday."

Please don't freak out.

"Are you suggesting we do what we think we should do in a relationship? And we rate each other at the end?"

Not really... that's not what she meant. She didn't think so anyway. She wanted a relationship with him... and didn't really wanted to be rated. What if she was a terrible girlfriend?

She opened her mouth to explain further, but he'd already cut her off. She snapped her mouth shut and frowned at his next words.

"So..." She raised an eyebrow. "Let me get this straight..." this felt like a business transaction. Weird. "I'm just... practice for this girl you'll be asking out on Monday?"

A long pause. A frown. A shake of the head.

She couldn't do that. She'd feel... immoral. Besides... she felt very selfish at the moment. If she couldn't have him... well...
She was already set in her ways.

Sighing, she uncrossed her legs and stood from his bed, hands on her hips gazing down at him. "I can't do that." She hoped he realized why, exactly. This was different than how she wanted it. "All or nothing. I don't want to get thrown aside after two days." Riu would murder him. "If we do this, it has to be done properly."

She felt herself blushing, but she kept a stern look on her face.

Hell no, she was taking it the wrong way.

Why did he have to fall for someone without thinking first? Wait, nobody really understood the fairer sex, a reason why men were so captivated by them.

A very good quote from a show he watched while visiting Clara. ((Smallville season two, last episode. Quote from Lex Luthor.))

But as she said her words, Cyprus suddenly understood. He was beginning to feel very hot under the collar, mind you.

"All or nothing. I don't want to get thrown aside after two days."

What if he wasn't ready for a relationship yet? What if something went wrong and... and.... she might never speak to him ever again?

'You won't know that until you take the risk.' Clara's voice said to him. But he could picture her glaring at him too.

Lord, he had to think of something fast.

"If we do this, it has to be done properly."

He raised his chin by just a tiny bit. "All right then," he said, hoping that his voice didn't sound as shaky as he was inside. His heartbeat was easily muffling anything that made a sound.

The door opened, and it was Henri Dy, Cyprus's roommate. He had a very funny look on his face, or maybe it was just because his nose was hanging from his face. Cyprus heard he got into a fight with Will. He raised an eyebrow and dumped a lime green duffel bag on his bed. He gave them a very dangerous smirk and drawled, "Don't mind me, I have other things to do. By the way," he took something out of his bag and threw it on Cyprus's pillow. "I borrowed your socks the other day. Their clean, don't worry."

He took long strides towards the door and was about to close the door when he looked at the pair again. "Tell Will Michelle got the singing position on their band." His smirk grew wide, if not wider. "It seems as though Ian has a crush on her. He broke up with Stephanie. I thought she might want to know her best friends aren't talking to each other anymore."

He shut the door with a small bang, almost making the picture frame on Cyprus' side table drop. Which miraculously, did not.

Cyprus suddenly felt his face burn.

She was smiling now, and had opened her mouth to say something- hopefully witty- when Henri Dy came through the door. Arrogant son-of-a...
She'd puffed up like a blowfish, her cheeks full of air, hands clenched tightly at her sides as she glared daggers at the other boy.

Just as he was closing the door, she let out her air in one big whoosh, picked up Shay's pillow and whipped it hard at the closing door. It hit the doorknob than bounced harmlessly to the ground. "Stupid git!"

She huffed and took a seat back on the edge of Cyprus' bed. "I honestly pity you and Shay for having to share a room with that... thing." She glared across the room at Henri's bed. "I'll be telling Will no such thing." She 'tsked' and muttered another "bastard" under her breath before clamping her mouth shut.

Her anger was evaporating, and she sighed, turning her attention back to him. "Anyway..." She was blushing again, smiling shyly. "We'll make this fun." She sat up a bit straighter, playfully, than eyed him seriously a moment, leaning in as if to tell a secret. "But we should keep it quiet for a while... until we're comfortable with... things."

Like, after finding out what people did when they were dating. Well... she knew about kissing and such. She'd seen Riu do it to Will before. It didn't seem that difficult.

Besides, she'd practiced on her hand when she was younger. Much to her complete embarrassment...
Oh... god... she didn't even want to think about that.
"Agreed?"

Though a bit shocked at what he saw, Cyprus had no intention to tell Will what Henri just told them. But from his theory, if whatever he just told them was real and they didn't tell Will. And if Will found out that Henri told them and they had no intention to tell her. (AN: I definitely made absolutely no sense this time) She'd go ballistic. Either that or she'd understand that he might be lying and they thought that...

"Stupid git!"

He mentally shook himself. What just happened? Oh right... Lynn regained her position on Cyprus' bed and Cyprus was now fidgeting with a strand of thread that was sticking out the pillow case. He had no idea why but he was putting all his strenght into pulling it out.

"I honestly pity you and Shay for having to share a room with that... thing. I'll be telling Will no such thing."

He didn't want to say anything stupid or something to make her temper rise so he didn't say a word at all.

They were merely inches apart. And if Cyprus was right... exactly three inches.

"Anyway..." She blushed, a fair amount of pink spread across her cheeks. Something Cyprus found incredibly attractive.

"We'll make this fun." She eyed him, and Cyprus felt himself just drown in those pools of gleaming silver. Lynn leaned in her locks falling back to place, cascading her small shoulders. Did he really just agree to what Lynn said?

Reality check: 100% absolutely.

'Lean in!' Lara said, stiffling a giggle.

'Lean out!' Clara said shocked at what Lara said (or at least, what Cyprus though Lara would say).

"But we should keep it quiet for a while... until we're comfortable with... things."

He nodded his head, even without knowing what she meant but continued on nodding anyway.

"Agreed?"

He smiled fully again, the one that showed all his teeth. "I haven't heard an even more brilliant idea like that in years."

A bit unoriginal but a classic mistake. Besides, he added a few more words in his sentence.

Should he kiss her? Right now? Or should he follow his gentleman's instinct and ask her if he should kiss her first?

But she might freak out and say no...

But if he just kissed her, she might freak out too...

Damn it. Women. One of life's deepest mysteries. So, back to his never ending thoughts, should he kiss her?

Lara told him he should, Clara told him he should too, Kinshasa was practically screaming yes (she was always a bit hopeless romantic), Celine was laughing and Richard, Ced's real name, was swearing he would hit him if he didn't.

But they weren't here and Lynn might take it the wrong way. But...

Oh for goodness sake, stop with the suspense already!

He leaned in too, but not to kiss her on those pale rose lips, but on her cheek instead. He could even feel his breath moving back to him after he had no intention to breathe anymore. (AN: I, again, made myself completely incompetent by making no sense whatsoever)

He pulled back from her cheek and held her hand, brushing his thumb over the back of it. "You're obliged to meet me in the Ninth common rooms on Friday." He had to get reinforcements quickly. "But as you said, not a word to my roommate (Shay), your brother (Riu) and his girlfriend (Will). Nor to your bestfriend (Ginette)." Those were the only people who would massacre him (or Lynn) for not telling them they had a relationship going on.

Oh yeah, they weren't the only ones. Cyprus' cousins would too.

"Promise?" His smile was only bordering his lips, no teeth and it looked completely promising on his serious face.

Oh... Merlin. He'd kissed her! Her first kiss!...Kinda! She wasn't sure if getting kissed on the cheek really counted for anything. Shay kissed her on the cheek all the time after all, as did Riu and other various members of her family.

Key word being family. So, as Cyprus was not family, she could officially say that kiss was very different having not come from a cousin, brother, aunt, uncle, or parent.

She was giddy now, her head felt a little spinny, and she was fairly sure she'd made a small 'gii' noise when his lips had brushed against her cheek. She knew she must be a very brilliant shade of red to go along with it all.

She nodded numbly to his words. No telling anyone. Right. Got it. She snapped out of her daze however when something he'd said slid into place, and she furrowed her brow and focused clearly on his face. "The Ninth common room?"

What?

She tapped his forehead with her index finger. "And today is Friday. Do you mean to tell me we can't see each other for another week?" She pouted. "That's no fun."

If that were the case, she would rather everyone knew. She wanted to discover this new found boyfriend thing right now. While she had the courage...
She found it obscenely cute how he kept digging himself into a hole, and backpedaling to get himself out of trouble.

Fear the wrath of Lynn Felder!
...

That's what it felt like anyway. Perhaps she'd been a bit too scary when Henri came in?

Now she felt bad.

She really didn't get it did she?

Next friday was the full moon, (according to the divination assignment he did) the perfect time for him to at least have some time alone with her. Apart from that, most people would rather be at the castle than stay out all night in the Paths so they wouldn't get caught easily.

Damn her. Damn women. Damn life.

"And today is Friday. Do you mean to tell me we can't see each other for another week?"

He shifted his position, still not letting go of her hands (or her gaze).

He leaned into her ear, whispering quietly. "What do you really want?"

Those words were something he should have said a long while ago...

He'd leaned forward to whisper in her ear, capturing the hand she'd poked him with again. His breath tickled her ear, and she let out a involuntary giggle that sounded more nervous than anything.

"What do you really want?"

What did she really want? She didn't know really. A boyfriend. That seemed obvious.

A male to talk to besides her family members.

Someone to help her get over Shaymon. That was one of the main reasons, and she hadn't realized it until that moment.
Her eyes wandered over towards her cousin's bed now, before she forced them back on Cyprus' face, giving a small shrug. One shoulder up, head to the side so she nudged her ear. The small opal earrings she wore caught in the light. "I want to get to know you, really."

Pulling out of his grasp, mostly out of nervousness, she sat back against the post at the end of his bed, eyeing him a moment passively before her face broke into a grin that effected her eyes. "I'm going to ask you five questions," she held up her hand, waggling her fingers before setting them down in her lap again, pulling herself into a cross-legged position once more. "Once you answer them, you can ask me five questions."

Inclining her head in a most playful manner she fixed with him a mock serious gaze, her eyes narrowed as she spoke, asking each question with enough time for him to give a reply after.

"Favorite colour?"

"Celebrity crush?"

"Most embarrassing situation?"

"Favorite band."

She held her breath a moment before asking the last question. "Betrothed yet?"

Betrothed yet. A question that Riu and her always found horribly funny, knowing that one day they would be asked that very question and probably have to reply, 'yes'. They'd made it into their own little joke, just to take the stress of the reality of it off.

Their relatives always found it startling when they asked that question to either them, or their parents and Riu got a smile on his face and she always burst into hysterics.

"I want to get to know you, really."

That seemed simple enough. But Cyprus didn't let his serious but irresistable look on his face go away. Everyone knew how girls could get. Besides, Clara once said that that look of his could make a girl faint. He could use it for a getaway look.

She looked impossibly cute like that, her head tilted. And Cyprus was not an easy man to impress. She somewhat got out of his hands and glued a grin that was quite dangerous.

"I'm going to ask you five questions,"

She moved her fingers like a kid trying to count numbers and went back to the cross-legged position she was in a while ago.

"Once you answer them, you can ask me five questions."

He merely nodded a playful smile toying with his lips.

"Favorite colour?"

"Mint green or any other shade of green, except for lime or puke green." He didn't know why, he just liked green. But Lara and everybody else was so darn persitent of him to wear blue, which was why his closet mostly consisted of either blue, green or black. With a bit of white.

"Celebrity crush?"

He smiled sheepishly at this. "Jamilla Rhyte." He was a typical teenage wizard, having a crush on everybody's dream singer. The Canadian singer from Quebec was a head turner, not only because of her voice, but her figure and face too.

"Most embarrassing situation?"

He scrunched up his face, making him look like a very typical kid. In fact, he really WAS, he was just raised in a different way. "I can't imagine something worse than letting your cousins spill your deepest, darkest secrets to the girl next door." Or rather, the girl at the next mansion which was five miles away.

"Favorite band."

"I have two." He admitted, his sheepish grin creeping back into his face. "Firewhiskeys 2.0 and Voluptuous Seduction" All right, so they were both girl groups. Very hot. Damn his cousins for dumping their magazines in his room. The oldest girl of the two groups was only sixteen. That wasn't exactly illegal was it? Proof (that he liked) of this funny fact was that Cyprus had a stack of magazines and tabloid clippings under his bed that had any relation to both bands. Mind you, he was still in shock of reading that Amrutha Araxi was rumored to have a boyfriend who was half vampire and that he was seen biting her neck.

But he definitely, and as in, definitely not prepared for the next question...

"Betrothed yet?"

"No, not yet." He added, English accent and smile in place.

He took her hand and raised his free one. He even managed to put on a very serious face. "Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?"

He read that from Will's notebook and knew that Lynn might think of his last words as a question. But continued on, asking the same way she did.

"Worst fear."

"Unforgettable moment."

"Friends or family?"

"Worst case scenario."

"And..." he took a deep breath, like she did and smiled uncertainly. "Would you marry your worst enemy if he was bethrothed to you?"
