He had been right. The overwhelming guilt at being with Ev that one night did come in the morning, though not as strong as he thought it would. As it should have. He'd merely felt horribly dizzy that entire day. Withdrawn from everything well forcing himself to think horrible thoughts of himself that should have just come naturally. The same feelings for Ev weren't there in the morning, much to his relief. That made things a little less complicated, and he wondered what came over him the night before. He didn't think he could have stopped if it weren't for her bringing him back onto any sort of normal playing field. Thinking back, he realized it wasn't simply the look on her face but the last words she'd said. After his question. "Have you ever had nightmares when you're not asleep?". (OOC: I realized it was a typo on the actual post). It was actually alarming how fast he'd crashed after calming himself down. He'd actually managed to sleep that night. The first sleep in weeks. There were no dreams. No nightmares. Just pure, unbothered sleep. However, he'd quickly reverted back to insomnia. He hadn't slept since that night, and the number of hours he sat staring up at the ceiling instead of doing something constructive increased. Right now, he found himself sitting along the side of the path on the grass staring off into the trees at nothing in particular. He'd just changed one backdrop for another. But the grass felt good against his hands... like the feelings were magnified. Everything felt fascinating, like he was high. No sleep did that to him. He was wearing the faded jeans with the holes in the knees. The ones he swore he'd never wear in public. A T-shirt that stretched rather tight across his arms and chest after shrinking once being washed. A muggle shirt that Shay had told him was for... skateboarders? Whatever the hell that was. It was artfully bleached splattered along the brown cloth, and looked just as worn as the jeans but had been like that since the moment it was given to him. He still hadn't bothered to brush his hair. He hadn't be avoiding his cousin like he thought he would. He actually had the balls to talk to him like nothing happened at all. It made him feel sick to his stomach. And Will... the same was with her. They still continued their awkward bits of conversation as though the whole ordeal didn't happen. Sometimes he found himself smiling at her words like always, or feeling that sharp feeling of lust course through him when it wasn't appropriate. He'd leave during those times, making up some sort of excuse. He wasn't startled when someone sat down next to him. He didn't have the energy to be startled. |

She hadn’t spoken to Eric for what seemed like a millennia. Not once since they had come back to school – apart from the time she found him smoking. Even then she had not said much to him – all she did was ask why, and then to change the topic showed him her piercing. After that it was just silence and staring at the blue sky in the middle of the pitch. That morning she was looking for something to wear, and had come across the red silk halter-top he had given her. Ginette had simply gazed at it and then folded it up again and put it aside, preferring to do put on some eyeliner, mascara and a dash of lip gloss before deciding on what to wear. It was slightly cold, but she didn’t care. The cold felt good – numbing most of her feelings…the physical feelings anyway. She didn’t know why she was hurting inside. Why her heart was aching. So wearing a light blue camisole and a knee length summer skirt that was light blue with black and white flowers splattered across in a printed fashion, she decided to take a breather and go outside. The library was great as a refuge but she was bored with it. How many times had she read those forlorn books with distaste, she couldn’t even count. Yes it was time to take a walk outside in the grounds. Part of her wanted to talk to Eric – see how he was, feel how he was, but then another part of her was also wondering about a conversation Ev and herself had just the day before. She had cheated on Shay – she told her that, and when she told her with whom, Ginette had stiffened against her wishes. She didn’t know why…Why was she still feeling for him? Why did she still like Riu just that little bit? It was wrong – she had been with Eric for so long – met his family – done so much together…and yet…She did love Eric. She knew it, but she couldn’t bring herself to say it. But what of Riu? Was it just lust? That could be a reason – he was really good-looking...sexy even. Ginette stopped abruptly. She had to talk to Eric soon, get this other feelings out of her. Her black stilettos clicked on the path as she walked aimlessly, her earrings and charm bracelet jingling, her dark straight her fluttering behind her. Missing her curls slightly, she had tried to add a few to the bottom of her hair – but it hadn’t worked. It was meant to last for a year, and already Ginette couldn’t stand it. The trees were still quite bare, and although there were patches of grass here and there, she couldn’t see any flowers to further divert her attention. And that was when she saw him. His brown hair, his strong physique, brooding and yet a figure Ginette warmed up to although she hardly showed it. She blinked a few times, unsure of whether she should go up to him or turn back. As much as she looked alike to Lynn, she knew that there were some similarities between her appearance and Riu’s. They were both good-looking teenagers, both from rich English families, and both as mysterious on some occasions. Taking a big breath, she walked forwards and sat next to him, staring out as he was whilst leaning back on her arms. |

Ginette... When she didn't speak, he turned his head away from the trees and instead found himself entranced by the way her foot strapped into those high shoes, and by the way her ankle shifted as she moved her legs into a more comfortable position. She was wearing a skirt as if daring the world to be to cold for it, but despite it all he still saw goose flesh rise up just above her knee. One shift in position and he could look at her face, pulling one leg, bent up to his body and wrapping his arms around it to hold it there. He closed one eye against the sun until it disappeared behind the looming clouds and finally got a good look at her face. She looked different with straight hair, but he liked it none the less. He missed Will's straight hair to tell the truth, and found it slightly ironic that Will now had curly hair and Ginette; straight. He wasn't sure what to say to Ginette. He hadn't really spoken to her since that bubble-head charms class, and he had no idea how long ago that was. With lack of sleep, he often lost tracks of the days. Months. It was getting colder so he figured it must be about October... at least. "Ginette..." He let her name roll off his tongue, fascinated by the way it sounded momentarily before bringing a small smile to his face. A grin that lifted one side of his mouth in a rather playful look - one that he hardly ever showed - but he was sure he still looked hopelessly tired. "I haven't seen you in a while..." He couldn't think of anything else to say. Luckily, he was void of any headaches today. He'd drank enough water that morning that it wasn't really a problem. But where they would normally get in the way of coherent thought, it was something different this time that allowed him to have very little in the way of conversation. So he simply watched her. Watched the way her fingers clung to the grass behind her, and the way her neck moved slightly as she swallowed. The wind played with her hair and he was intoxicated with watching the motion. |

The cold chilled her slightly, and for a second she felt as though she were sitting next to Eric, just waiting for him to notice and to wrap his arms around her. Wrong - it was Riu. She didn't know what to say, and so Ginette had kept quiet waiting for him to initiate the conversation. She remembered the rather sullen and lost look he had when she first saw him here, and thought of what possibly could be wrong. Of course...Ev. She sighed inwardly and hoped that it wouldn't get any more awkward than it was. "Ginette...I haven't seen you in a while..." Ginette turned to him, registering his smile. The way it curved him and brought his features more alight than ever. She loved his smile. Smiling back at him daringly, as her side fringe softly fell just above her eye as she turned to face him, she looked him straight in the eye. "We haven't spoken properly for what seems like years," She brushed her side fringe back again with the sweep of her hand, her charm bracelet jingling again. Stuck. She was stuck on what to say to him now. What could she say anyway? They hardly knew each other anymore except for the pieces of information given from other people. Instead she wanted to stare at him for hours. Just watch how his eyes brightened at something she would say - something that rarely happened, and how his face creased as he smiled. He was so handsome but she knew to keep her distance. So she thought of the many things she could say - ruling out the flirtacious and daring, and went for something that had caused her some concern. "Riu..." His name seemed to just roll of the tip of her tongue without any effort at all, "Penny for your thoughts?" She didn't want to make him embarrassed and ask him directly what his problems were. She would instead give him the choice of telling her what he wanted, and if it happened to be the cause of his sad or confused emotions, all the better. Instinctively, she shifted closer to him, just for the warmth before realising what her move could have meant. Ginette silently cursed herself but stayed put nonetheless. |

He kept his eyes on her face as she moved closer. On her eyes, so much like his own and his sister's. His smile had faded to a more thoughtful look, and he found his eyes narrowing against their will as the sun peaked through the clouds again. He felt the heat on the top of his head, made stronger by his hair's darker color. It felt hot against his shoulders through his T-shirt and against his knee that was pulled away from the grass. Taking his gaze away from Ginette a moment, he let out a long breath as he allowed himself to fall back against the grass, still slightly sun bleached from the summer. His hands splayed out at either side of his body. His legs spread out before him. Part of his shirt at the front hiked up allowing her a small glimpse of stomach and the worn belt around his waist. Strange... she looked like an angel from that angle. Dark makeup and all. A beautiful dark angel. He smiled up at her, a tired smile and spoke like that, head shifted enough that some of the sun glare didn't reach his eyes. "I'm sure Lynn updates you enough..." He was positive Lynn had told her everything. However... Lynn didn't know he wasn't sleeping. He always pretended to when she was in the room. "I haven't slept in weeks." He chuckled. It was so funny. He was loosing his mind... His smile faded. A flash of him kissing Ev in bed... of talking to Will just the other day and smiling like nothing was wrong. He was silent a moment, running his hands along the grass as if to feel something different but guilt. It didn't go away this time, no matter the cool feeling of each blade running along his palm and in between his fingers. "What have you heard?" He didn't speak it carefully, as if he didn't want to know the answer. For he truly did want to know. How were people seeing him these days? He suddenly felt he needed to know. "Nothing good I presume..." |

Involuntarily, she thought, her eyes were drawn almost instantaneously to the small amount of stomach he was showing. She wanted to touch it – but she forced her grey eyes back to his face. She lay down beside him, only leaning on an elbow, causing her own camisole to ride up above her piercing, glinting whenever the sun decided to shine down upon them. Seeing him smile, although tiredly, made Ginette give him a small smile while she looked at him as he spoke. Her fingers absentmindedly played with the grass and she thought of how cruel winter could be to nature – killing it and deriving it of its nutrients. "I'm sure Lynn updates you enough..." Ginette’s eyes flashed slightly, but she spoke warmly and carefully, “On her own life for sure…” "I haven't slept in weeks.” Now it was her turn to narrow her eyes. So he hadn’t slept for weeks? Well that would explain his tiredness, and mild manner. She didn’t reply this time, simply allowing him some space as she could see from his vague expression that something was wrong. She wouldn’t pester him. Not yet. "What have you heard? Nothing good I presume..." She could almost hear the commanding tone of his voice, demanding that she should tell him all he knew, but she also seemed to sense something else. Something like sorrow. Reaching out, she touched his hand lightly with her fingers, “Nobody’s opinion of you has faltered, Riu. Nobody calls you a whore behind your back – gossips about the likeness between you and a slut.” There was something like distaste and venom in her voice, and realizing that, she cursed herself silently and spoke softly again, “You are still a figure people look up to – the younger ones see you as a role model. I know Jay once told me that he admired your ability to accomplish anything thrown at you in class in the first go. I see you no differently either, why should I? “What have I heard? Not much to say that you are a terrible person, Riu – just that you are actually a human being…just as normal as any of us. That you can’t fool anyone with your intelligence that you’re something else – “ Here she laughed before returning to her almost solemn state. Looking into his eyes she continued, “It’s not your fault – we can’t control our urges…” She looked away this time and muttered loudly enough for him to hear, “Biological urges…I get them all the time. I guess I have learnt to control them…but occasionally – “ Ginette looked back into Riu’s eyes, “I lose control and nothing can stop me.” Of course, there was yet to be a time when Ginette had cheated on Eric. She hadn’t as of yet – but she had some moments in the past when she did want to kiss another guy…just because… |

He still didn't remove his gaze from her as she spoke, catching every movement her mouth made and everything her face showed. He listened. Unblinking. Perfectly still, until she turned her gaze on him and said those words that caused his heart to skip a beat momentarily and his breath to hitch in his throat. The desire was there again, only this was different. He felt he had control over it this time. He could tell his conscious was still in play when a small voice in the back of his head told him doing anything wouldn't be very clever on his part. Pressing the palms his hands into his eyes he rubbed them roughly before holding them in place, taking a deep, long breath to calm himself before speaking. What was wrong with him? Seriously... "I'm not really sure if I could explain... at the time I didn't really know what I was doing..." A sound of frustration before rephrasing. "I mean, I knew what I was doing... but it didn't really matter that it wrong. It was like my conscious didn't exist that night. I became really reckless, and restless..." He sat up with a sigh. "It could be lack of sleep..." He brushed some died hair from the back of his head and twisted to look down at her. "I didn't mean to hurt anyone, but I still don't feel too guilty about it and it worries me." Brushed some grass of his shoulder. "All the stuff I said and did that night happened without any of my consent... If Will ever finds out..." He trailed off, unsure of what would actually happen if that were to occur. She may never speak to him again. He'd deserve it he was sure. More quietly he added, with an undertone of fear- disorder. "I think I'm going insane..." |

She watched how he responded to her last few words – how he rubbed his eyes as if trying to get rid of some unwanted thought. Smiling to herself, she thought, “he’s learning…” It was then that she noticed his dyed hair properly – deep brown, almost the same in colour and tone as her own rich dark brown hair. In fact, if anyone chanced on walking past them, they would think them as family if they didn’t know who they were. Looking past Riu, Ginette saw something surprising that caught her eye, Taking Riu’s hand, she gently tugged on it to tell him to follow her. Walking delicately to the bush that she had seen behind him, she knelt down beside it and smiled at the lone rose there. The only flower in bloom in Winter. “See this rose? This is probably a strange analogy but in some ways I find you similar to it. It is alone right now – to be misjudged on having acted as thus to have grown at the wrong time of year. Yet I’m sure it doesn’t feel guilty at all – though a little stupid for it knows it won’t have long to live in the cold. It doesn’t feel guilty because it has done something that it enjoys – that felt right at the time. Freeing and beautiful. ”You are alone – to be misjudged for your actions by those righteous thinkers. And I’m sure you thought that at that precise moment it felt so right – to kiss her. Albeit it being stupid, you won’t feel guilty – because you, like the many of us, are a teenage boy with raging hormones. If you are going to share a bed with a girl it would have surprised me if you hadn’t touched her in such a way at all. You’re not going insane – you’re just going through adolescence. I wouldn’t tell Will if I were you…but if she were close to finding out, then it would be better to hear it from yourself than have her hurting even more from finding out elsewhere. “But I’ve noticed how your relationship with her is slightly strained…Are you sure she’s the one for you?” Ginette lay down and stretched her arms above her head before folding them underneath. She remembered how he had stared at her before, and thought of how she hadn’t burned under his gaze but had met it back steadily. Looking at him, she had a playful smirk on her face. “Tell me something, Riu,” Ginette said, “When you were staring at me, did you like what you saw?” |

He followed her calmly over towards the bush, but remained standing as she knelt down and began her analogy, his eyebrows shooting up -mainly because he couldn't raise just one- as he listened silently. Part of him wanted to roll his eyes well the other part was giving Ginette praises for coming up with something so wise so quickly. But in the end, he had to shake his head... somehow that didn't sound right. At all. That may be how someone normal would act... but he was pretty sure he couldn't fit into that category. After all, he hadn't even really been all that into it sexually until he'd stopped for that very reason. Before that one night he hadn't thought about Ev in any such way besides comfort, and never really had any sort of urge to do something besides simply hug her. Before that night, he simply saw her as a sister figure and he most certainly didn't want to do anything but hug Lynn. He felt sort of sick the morning after with Ev, and he figured it was around the same feeling he'd get if he had done something with any real sister. "But I've noticed how your relationship with her is slightly strained… Are you sure she's the one for you?" He turned his attention from the lone rose and on her again, opening his mouth to comment when she said something else that caused him to shut his mouth. "When you were staring at me, did you like what you saw?" What? He had momentarily forgotten how straightforward she could be sometimes, as he floundered for something intelligent to say besides the "uh..." forming at his mouth. Instead, he shut his mouth and did some quick thinking. Did she have to lay like that? However, what escaped his mouth was hardly what he wanted, as he once again had one of those moments he seemed to have less and less control over. "I've always liked looking at you." Now his face was moving against his wishes. His mouth pulling up into a mischievous grin on one side and he crossed his arms over his chest as if daring her to say something different. "What about you?" |

"I've always liked looking at you. What about you?" She grinned back mischieviously as she saw his smile. She was relieved to see that his mood had changed - he was easier to handle this way... "Would it matter?" Ginette raised herself from the ground and brushed off some of the grass that had stuck onto her. A rush of wind blew through her hair, sweeping it over her face before she brushed it back with her hand. Would it though? Would it honestly matter to Riu what she thought about him? She liked him - a lot, beyond words could describe...Not as much as Eric, but there was some lust there. Her mind was in daring mode, and she acted in a way that she normally wouldn't have. Walking up to Riu she whispered in his ear, "Would it matter if my breath was taken away when I saw you - or that I was disheartened by your figure?" Stepping away, she glanced into his eyes before turning around and walking away again. Facing the rose once more, she waited for a few minutes in silence before deciding to change the topic. The atmosphere was becoming to tense for her liking although she knew it was partly her own fault. "We were sorry not to see you or your family at Sophie's wedding..." Ginette touched the rose lightly, "Did you not get the invitation?" Her British accent was exact and no matter how long she had spent in America - it still hadn't changed. Surprising to see was that Riu had given up on mimicking an American accent - and it was as well that he did. His British accent just made him even more attractive. |

His heart was pounding again, but he ignored it and instead watched as her fingers gently brushed along the lone rose's pedals. Her hair falling into her eyes. Must Eric get in the way... was his first thought followed quickly by Would you even want to go there again? A question he knew he wouldn't be able to answer. He'd kissed Ev.. and now he was flirting with Ginette. "We got the invitation... This should have happened sooner." He came up beside her, not turning his gaze away from her face. "On my families behalf, I'm sorry for declining the invitation..." He'd never wanted to go. Most of his time over summer had been spent at the hospital, or closed up in some part of the house. Seclusion had been wonderful. Lynn, of course, had wanted to go and was highly disappointed when Mother had asked him what he thought, being "the head of the household while Father is away..." She didn't say that he would be the head of the household very soon anyway. A wedding would have cheered up his mother and sister, he was sure... but he couldn't bring himself to go, and Mother refused to go without him and Lynn wasn't allowed to go on her own. She said it would look bad for the family. "And besides... we're in mourning. We aren't expected to attend." Never mind the fact Father wasn't dead yet. "Lynn really wanted to attend, and it would have done my Mother good to get out of the house. Please give your sister our apology.. and we'll definitely be to the next big event." All business. Just like it should be. He almost ached from it, as his hand wanted to reach out and touch some of her hair. It looked so smooth now. |

"We got the invitation... This should have happened sooner. On my families behalf, I'm sorry for declining the invitation..." Ginette raised her head slightly. So they had gotten the invitation…Yet they hadn’t come. Being very close to the Godwins, Sophie was a little hurt, but she knew roughly what the Felders were going through. That was why she hadn’t taken it to heart. It when Lynn and told her, that Ginette knew partly perhaps why they hadn’t come to the wedding – before Ginette had been angry and thought it quite rude of them. But now she sort of understood. Why are so many people having such horrible things happen to their family…? First Ana, and now the Felders…? "Lynn really wanted to attend, and it would have done my Mother good to get out of the house. Please give your sister our apology.. and we'll definitely be to the next big event." Ginette turned to Riu, and in a heart-warming moment, she embraced him. When she released him she smiled and her eyes brightened slightly. “Oh I certainly hope you will,” Ginette grinned a little, “You have been invited to stay over this year – any time you please…although I feel Eric may have something planned for the mid-term break. Perhaps over the summer? It would be a pleasure to have you and Lynn over, and Mother would enjoy the presence of your – family too.” She had been about to say parents, and then just mother, but she figured it would be better to say family instead of the other two, as their father wasn’t technically part of the deceased yet. Suddenly, she noticed her body tingling where it had made contact with Riu’s. Somewhere in her mind, a voice asked whether Eric really was the one, but she mentally slapped herself for thinking such a thing. They had been together for four years – four. Nothing could make her more sure of a relationship having lasted so long without any major fights. Touch wood. Yes there had been times when they argued, become violent and even resorted to alcohol but they always reconciled quickly and became loving once more. Each knew the other inside out, it was amazing…but Ginette hadn’t tasted (excuse the pun) another relationship yet… She became lost in Riu’s grey eyes…So deep and like her own. |

He was no longer on any sort of safe territory. Her body was pressed up against his and she was looking up at him with a strange sort of look in her eyes that made him want to act out but at the same time made him rigidly frightened of himself. The first half had caused himself to wrap his arms around her- one around her shoulder, one around her lower back- but the other half held him in that position. He wouldn't allow himself to lean down the few inches - no, there was more space there than that he had to keep reminding himself - to kiss her or even allow himself to get close to her neck and ears, remembering what he'd done to Ev. How did he always get in these positions? How did he always get in these position and not do anything about them? There was a perfectly safe way out of this that didn't ultimately end with Eric's fist making contact with his face. Though he figured he'd give the boy a run for his money in the magic department... He was sure his eyes were the only thing showing this inner conflict. Somewhere, he registered she'd asked him and Lynn to come for the holidays and he nodded. Vague. "Summer would be fine..." What could change in a year. He found himself wishing it was something positive that allowed him to hold her like this more often. No. No. They were friends. Like Ev was a friend. Just a friend. Friends don't think of friends like that. Even if said friend was pressing her very feminine body against his... What was wrong with him? He'd bent down, angling his head so he could get at the right height he needed, his back arching down - bad for his back. He needed a tall girlfriend - and placed a soft kiss on her jaw line near her ear before standing straight again and moving her out of his arms at arms length. A safe distance. He didn't want to hurt anyone anymore... He shouldn't have even just done that. "Thank you... for talking to me." |

Ginette touched the skin that Riu had kissed lightly. Surprisingly his lips were soft – not scratchy or rough like other guys’ lips (Eric excluded) – but supple. She blushed deeply. Great, that made Riu boy number two to make her blush. "Thank you... for talking to me." “There’s no need for thanks…it was simply a conversation…” Ginette answered feebly, “Whenever you want to talk again – you know where to find me.” Smiling but still speaking in a soft tone, she ran a hand through her hair. This was quite an awkward moment. She didn’t know what to say or do – what to do with herself even, and so she just looked out around her. At the view around them. Most of the things here were dead – and covered slightly in frost. Thinking of the frost sent a chill up her spine, and she shivered involuntarily, instantly reminding her that she was wearing something very summery for a day like this. If the Felders came during the summer, Ginette prayed that nothing awkward would happen. She wondered briefly on asking Eric to come over too, but decided against it. It might just create even more fuss. |

She looked a bit awkward now, and Riu silently cursed himself for letting things get like that. Again. He should have known if he let himself stop thinking for one moment things would turn uncomfortable. Should have known he'd do something to screw everything up. But no... she hadn't slapped him. Maybe she was simply cold. A possibility, and the answer he hoped for. He was kind of cold himself. He hoped Eric wouldn't find out about this little... incident. Wrapping his arms around himself, acting as if he was freezing to make her feel a little more comfortable, he made a small sound that most people did when they were cold and chuckled. "It's getting a bit chilly out here." A warm smile. Awkward to show he wasn't as confident in the action he just made as she might think he was and motioned back towards the school. "Want to head back inside?" It was odd how normal he suddenly sounded, like nothing was going on his head that just wasn't right. "I could do for a hot chocolate, how about you?" For some reason he hoped she said 'no' to the hot chocolate. He should give her some space now... but at the same time he hoped she'd say yes so he could spend some more time with her. So wrong. |

Eric would never find out about this…No matter how small it was and how it could have been interpreted, she was sure Eric would leap to the worst conclusion. Then with the blessings of God would Riu be safe if he found out…If ever. Hopefully never. Ginette couldn’t bring herself to look at Riu. What was wrong with her? She had never acted so shy in front of a guy before…She usually took it in her stride. "It's getting a bit chilly out here. Want to head back inside?" She blinked. But suddenly going with the flow, Ginette nodded briskly and rubbed her arms for good measure to show she was equally if not more as cold as he was. “More than ever,” Ginette replied with a small smile, “I don’t know why I thought wearing something like this was a good idea.” No she wasn’t hiding it anymore – she really was freezing come to think of it. With this on her mind and wanting more warmth, she walked up to Riu and linked arms with him to share some of his warmth and her own. "I could do for a hot chocolate, how about you?" Hesitant. But then there was nothing in having a drink with Riu, right? It’s not like they were on a date…they were friends – enjoying each other’s company…A little too much…So very wrong. “Hot chocolate would be perfect.” With that, she walked with him out of the cold, but letting him lead her where he wanted them to go… |
