He woke up with a mind-numbing headache. He had gone to the after party after his team had one a local match at Normandy, and he seemed to have drunk to many hippogriff shots. Well, that's what his team mates called them. They put together an unknown concoction of spirits to make the heavy shots that made your head light within a minute. He was sure he was flying last night...if he could remember any of it.

Turning over in bed so that he was lying on his stomach, he buried his face in his pillow and groaned.

"Ooohhh," Jay moaned, "Go away..."

He was just babbling nonsense, and then he heard the faint cries of Luc Junior. In his room.

At the foot of his bed.

Grabbing the sheets.

"Unca Jayjaaaaaay, come plaaaay!"

He pulled the pillow over his head, "Luc! Your spawn is in my room!"

He was in no mood to play.

Luc rolled his eyes, he was standing in his doorway, "Jay, that's your wake up call - someone's here to see you." He scrunched up his nose, "Shower first. You stink of stale beer."

"Oh, ha ha," Jay sat up a little groggily, "I didn't even drink beer."

"Who said your breath smelt of beer...YOU smell of beer..." Luc laughed evilly, making Jay understand what he meant. Jay threw him a look of disgust.

"Just because you get up to - "

"Unca, look I got a slug for mummy. Daddy made it pink, because girls like pink."

Jay looked down at his nephew. And then back at the father.

"Make sure you tell Mummy that Daddy made it pink especially for her."

Lucien grinned and ran off.

Luc started to laugh but was abruptly cut short on hearing Louise's screams.

"Jerhimi - she's here." With that, he apparated out of the house away from Louise's murderous threats.

Call her weird, but she felt odd wearing jeans in the Godwin household. Of course she'd seen other people in them, but her own personal vision of the manor held a faery tale likeness to Jerhimi that seemed to always call for the fancy and the fanciful. Still, she hadn't been in the mood to be stuffy and look for something real to wear. Not that the pale yellow button-down, puff-sleeve shirt she'd paired with the jeans wasn't real, but she had looked wistfully at her Converse sneakers this morning before deciding on a much more appropriate pair of flats.

Aparating onto the grounds, Jer hurried to the front door for the grey skies looked like they could open up at any minute and she was thankful she'd thought to throw a sweater on over the short sleeves. Of course her arrival had been announced, she was sure Luc had beaten her upstairs to tell Jay she was here, as he had greeted her at the door with his son and what looked to be a pink slug. Of course she found it endearing and amusing that Lucien had thought of his mother, but then again she worked with dirt for a living. She highly doubted Louise would find it nearly as charming.

Practically skipping down the hall at that though, Jer finally stopped at Jay's door. She had seen Luc aparate away from the danger as Lucien continued down the hall and laughed to herself. The screams she heard erupt shortly after the two had disappeared confirmed her assumption. If there was one person Jer didn't mind upsetting in her new family, it was Louise. She hoped Lucien asked her to hold it.

Turning to the doorway, the witty comment she had planned about the slug slipped off her tongue. Well don't you look like hell. Was what she wanted to replace it with but she didn't want to bother to hide the disappointment in her tone. That was her least favorite Jay. Of course she loved them all, no matter the state, but she didn't necessarily like this version and she certainly wasn't a fan of the persona that came before this one.

Casually leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed over her chest in her best impression of her mother, she was glad her hair was up so she couldn't fiddle with it. She had to have something to do with her hands when she was miffed. This saved her carefully combed tresses from having havoc wreaked upon them by fidgeting. "Rough night?" Jer tried for a casual smile, but the upturn of the corners of her mouth that formed the smile hardly echoed in her green eyes.

He froze as he heard that chime of Jerhimi’s voice – underlined with disapprovement. He had been in the middle of yanking off his shirt. He looked quickly in the hand-held mirror on his bedside table, and closed his eyes in preparation of revealing himself to her…

He couldn’t do it. Jay leapt up, throwing off all of his clothes as he ran into the ensuite shower.

Hopefully, him stripping would have thrown Jerhimi off slightly. However, he left the door wide open, so she could still wonder in if she wanted to. Some part of him figured that however tempting this was, she would probably take some time in deciding whether she really wanted to step over the boundary and enter his personal space. He didn’t mind either way – but at least he would be a whole lot lovelier to look at now.

“Well, it wasn’t fun,” Jay raised his voice over the stream of hot water running down his body. After a while, soapy water started to fall all over him, and his body finally began to smell a whole lot nicer too.

He wondered how he would explain it to Jerhimi. Jay had never really been that much of a high drinker, but he loved being daring…and he gotten carried away last night. If he could just remember what he’d done…He didn’t think he did anything that bad – nothing that would hurt Jerhimi in that way. Or did he? No, he couldn’t have. Besides, his friends were the type to shoo away any ladies when he was out of it – not because he would leap all over them, but because he could be quite insulting.

It was true that he had become very insulting if they sauntered up to him, ever since he had become so lost in his own fiancée. How dare they think they had power over him just because their hips swayed – nothing could beat Jerhimi’s sway…

He smiled and almost stumbled over the shower tray as he dreamed about her.

“Jer, honey, would you mind passing the towel?”

Jer's jaw dropped as her fiancé made a mad dash for the bathroom attached to his room, dropping his drawers as he ran. "You are unbelievable!" She shouted after him, losing the battle with the urge to laugh. How was she supposed to stay mad when he pulled something like that? Jer slid off of the doorframe and closed the door behind her. Still laughing as she heard the water turn on in the bathroom, Jer would have curled up in Jay's bed, but it smelled particularly unpleasant at the moment. After pulling her wand out of her back pocket and removing the gross sheets off of Jay's bed Jer sent them to the hamper for the house elves and with another flick of her wand, made the bed. Satisfied, she stowed her wand in her pocket again and sauntered behind Jay onto the steam.

"Oh no?" She replied when Jay said he hadn't had any fun. "Do you remember it?" She questioned. In all reality there was little chance that he did. It was rare for her to see him in that state, which meant he'd gone off his rocker last night. There had never been an occassion when Jay had ever had too much to drink when in her presense, but she had heard some stories that she was not fond of.

Jer perched herself inbetween the double sinks on the marble counter just to the side of the shower trying not to imagine Jay in the shower, even though he was only three feet away. She turned to the steamed up mirror and drew a heart in the dew out of pure boredom. When asked the hand Jay a towel, she grabbed one off the counter next to her and moved to hold it just out of reach.

"It's going to cost youuu." She sang and leaned forward with her lips puckered.

There was a rustling sound coming from his room, and he figured that Jer was probably doing what she did best – getting rid of the dirty evidence. He sniggered at the thought of other pieces of dirty evidence, as the last soapy suds were washed away by a fresh stream of hot water.

“Sadly, no – but I do remember hippogriff shots and flying.”

He laughed under his breath as he heard her, and left the shower running as he stepped out of the shower, fully starkers. Jay sauntered up to her, his head held mockingly high, before he put his arms around her, and brought her into his wet body. Landing a soft kiss on her lips, he pulled away and held out a hand for the towel.

“Did I pay you enough?”

He was still in view of his long length bathroom mirror to one side of the bathroom, and the mirror voiced, “Looking good, Jay – if only I had a body like yours.”

Jay went bright red. That was probably Luc’s doing. Damn him. His whole sex appeal plan was ruined. Well, not quite.

“If everyone had a body like man, Jer wouldn’t know where to look, would she?” He grinned cheekily at her.

Determined to keep her gaze from wandering and her blush to a minimum, Jerhimi deliberately looked her fiancé in the face. "Jay!" She squeaked as he pulled her against him, soaking the front of her blouse. Fortunately she held the towel at the right level so her jeans did not suffer the same fate. It wasn't as if hadn't seen Jay without clothes before, but there was no reason to stare, that was just awkward.

"No." She stated in answer to his question and held the towel behind her back. "And you can't have it until you turn the water off."

"Unreal." She laughed and shook her head as the mirror added its own two cents and Jay boosted his own ego. "I'll just leave you two alone then." Smirking to herself, she turned on her heel and with a little more sway in her hips than usual, sauntered from the bathroom. She tossed the towel on the back of Jay's desk chair and quickly slipped out of her wet blouse. She knew how to dry it with her wand, but didn't trust herself enough to try it while it was on her body. Fortunately she'd thought to wear a tanktop underneath and that hadn't suffered from her soapy squeeze.

“You can’t walk away from this,” Jay laughed and took a hand-towel from the rail and flicked it at Jer’s bum, before throwing it back at the rail, and reaching to turn the water off in the shower. He turned to watch her sway, and then waltzed into his room to dry himself off. Jer had seen him enough times for him to dress so casually as if she weren’t even there. Except she was there – so he did things even more slowly than usual.

Such a tease as he was.

Digging out a pair of boxers, he slipped them on and then began the moisturising process. He held the tub of cream out to Jer, “want to rub some onto my chest? Or do you want me to do yours?”

Such a devil as he was.

“LUC!”

There was a distinct female shreak from outside his room, “You better not be hiding in there – JAY!”

Jay’s eyes widened in horror; she had better not think of coming in here, “He’s not here – I saw him out back!”

Louise had just turned the knob before it sprung back in its place, and he heard her storm downstairs.

“Close call,” and he flicked his wand to lock the door.

Busy drying her blouse, Jer ignored Jay as he took his time getting dressed. Her mother had been slowly teaching her more and more household charms. They really were dead handy, from how to chop carrots to getting the laundry to hang itself on the line, everything made owning a home and keeping it clean seem so much more managable. It also made the task a little less daunting. Not that Jer would have to do it all herself, but she didn't want to be incompetant and she wanted to be able to send her staff on vacation and give them days off without her home falling apart. It wasn't as if she wouldn't appreciate all that they would do, but there would be days when she would like to send them all away and just have her house and her husband all to herself.

Kind of like right now. Jer set her shirt aside to let it finish drying. She glanced out the window to see that the sky had opened up and a steady sheet of rain lashed the windows. Turning her attention back to her man she just laughed at him and took the offered lotion. "You are fresh." She rubbed a good amount of lotion between her hands after setting the container down and slapped her palms on Jay's shoulders to massage the cream in.

She froze when she heard Louise's voice outside the door and her hand on the knob. "Would she really just walk in like that?" Jer whispered as she ran her hands over Jay's strong muscles, easing the knots out. It was kind of difficult for her to reach, but she tried her best. "Merlin's beard, I think I would hex her." Even her own brothers never violated the sanctity of her bedroom. They knew to stop and knock at the door and to wait for permission for fear of her venemous wrath.

After she was done, Jer rubbed the remaining lotion onto her own bare arms and screwed the lid back on the jar. Jay's bed looked very inviting now that the rain had started and she was minus her warmer layers. Plus, now she knew it was clean. She nudged Jay toward his bed and proceeded to crawl under the covers, dragging him with her. "I think it's time for a mid-morning nap." She grinned slyly.

“Louise is worse than Gin,” Jay growled, “Gin was headstrong and always got her way, and always seemed to find out what was going on in everyone’s lives, but she knew the limits. Louise just feels that just because she’s married to the heir of this place, she already owns it and can walk in anywhere she wants to. Although, she doesn’t go anywhere near Mum and Dad’s chambers.”

Maman was tolerant enough, and though to the outside world, she seemed the serene and completely peaceful mother-in-law to Louise, it was a different story inside the house. Once Lucien was born, Maman had been taking the most care of him, since Louise was far more fussed about her own life. And Maman was the one that drummed discipline into Louise.

He wondered about the way the pair had gotten married again – it hadn’t been love. It had been arranged. The Beauvais were a very high class family in France, and also a distant relation to Maman, and it had seemed that the pair got on quite well…

Luc still didn’t show any signs of regret – he was the ideal husband, always keeping Louise happy, the in-laws happy, his parents happy and his son happy. At the same time, he had learnt the subtle ways of keeping his wife in check, and also how to keep himself happy.

He had been a dangerous flirt but once married, he’d stuck faithfully to Louise, and even though she could be a wench, he didn’t go to look for love elsewhere. He knew that Louise loved and lusted after him completely, so the only place he’d run for escape would be to fly, or roam with the horses in the woods, or just go out for a butterbeer with his friends.

Sophie was lucky that when her marriage had been betrothed – she had also fall deeply in love with Peter, and her love was returned with an equal amount if not more affection. Ginette was lucky that her betrothed turned out to be a real stinker, that her first boyfriend turned out to be a real weirdo, and that her second and last boyfriend turned out to be the real winner. To think that everyone didn’t care less with was a love marriage just because the alliance was too great.

But after that, his parents had softened to the idea that Jay would choose wisely if he fell in love, and that another alliance was unnecessary now that all the major connections had been made without even having had to try so hard. Jerhimi was a lovely girl, whose family were also just as charming – and it did not insult their family to have such a beautiful girl courting their son either.

Not that Jay cared, but it helped. This love marriage may not be ideal for the circle, but for his family, it was enough. They now just wanted the children to be happy.

“You can hex her all you want,” Jay sniggered, and felt his muscles relax instantaneously to Jer’s touch.

As she pulled him to the now very clean bed, he laughed, “Hmm, I’m up for a bit of mid-morning exercise, but I know a way we could mix the two together,” he laughed, as Jer sunk under the covers, and Jay moved in beside her. He pulled her close to him and kissed her forehead.

Jer sunk into the feather-soft duvet and automatically curled into Jay, letting out a sigh of pure bliss. She smiled as he kissed her forehead and she settled her head on his shoulder in the crook of his neck, her favorite spot. "Ruffian." She murmured, curling an arm around his waiste and tucking the other comfortably beneath her. Jay was just so comfortable and he smelled good. She couldn't lie though, her mind had been wandering along the same lines that Jay had just suggested.

For the moment however, she was just content to cuddle. School had been tough, getting more and more demanding between her herbology major and a minor in healing plants, things were getting more complicated and it required more of her attention and focus, which left little time to focus on her. Or Jay for that matter. It was really hard for her sometimes.

During the summer she got so used to being around him, around their future home, it was getting harder to go back to school each fall. Fortunately, she was almost done and thngs would all just settle. She could have her June wedding with her gorgeous dress and her calla lillies and freesia. She wished she could just be done with school. There was no regret in going to school, just the time it was taking to finish it was becoming increasingly draining on her. She hated to be that girl who clung to their guy, but in all reality she didn't really like the distance that school put between them. At least when she was finished, she could travel with him on his away games. On another contented sigh, she closed her eyes and snuggled her nose into Jay's jaw. "I could probably be persuaded." She whispered and hugged him tighter.

He laughed, and let her snuggle up to him. He hadn’t asked her much about her education so far, and he wondered what the red-head had been doing all this time. He had never understood her fascination in plants, but he did share enthusiasm when it came to her love of animals. Nevertheless, he did like listening to her tell her things about all the different plants, and how they could be used – it was interesting the way she told it. If she had been his teacher, he probably would have passed herbology with outstanding. Or maybe it was just her voice.

“Tell me what you’ve been up to in that grand university of yours – you haven’t told me anything since the mandrake disaster one of your friends had,” Jay twirled a piece of her hair around his finger as he spoke, the redness reminding him of strawberries and cream. He would have that made for Jerhimi for brunch.

Soon her education would be complete, and he could finally begin to seriously think of his marriage to her…he was still stuck in his immature ways and he never knew how he’d be able to adjust in being the good husband. He figured it wouldn’t be any different from now – he was being the good boyfriend after all. He had no worries about keeping her happy either…he just hoped he’d mature quickly enough so that Jer wouldn’t get annoyed at him every other day with his little mishaps.

Maman still pulled his ear these days.

He slipped a hand under her tank top, letting it rest on her warm belly as she spoke.

"Nothing of interest really." Jer sighed again, this time out of mild frustration. It wasn't if she didn't enjoy school, but she was completely ready to be done. "I just started getting more into my magical medicinal plants. We've been researching and working with Dittany, which now that I think about it, I should stock up on, considering the number of times you get injured in a match." She laughed, realizing with all sincerity that probably would be a good idea.

"No danger in it though, however we have been working with Venomous Tentacula in my Dangerous and Poisonous Plants class. Highly amusing, though kind of a pain." She raised her arm to show where the plant had left a bruise when it grabbed her. She'd honestly meant to put a salve on it, but hadn't remembered until now. Not really a big deal, a bruise was a bruise. "One of my classmates though had a real battle." The memory caused her to laugh. "He put his nose a little too close and the thing grabbed him 'round the ears." It had been very funny, and a good mistake to witness. Now Jer knew just how close you could get to the tentacula without getting hurt and what was too close.

"What about you? Anything exciting going on over on this side of the world?" She could only read so much in the papers and the American papers hardly covered the European quidditch. Over there everything was focused around Quadpot. Which in all reality was very interesting, but not informative for Jer when she wanted to know how her love's team was doing. Besides her parents and the O'Shea's she didn't really have many connections over in the States. Perhaps she should look into getting a subscription to the Prophet, but she highly doubted it would be delivered overseas. Oh well, best just to stick to word of mouth and letters.

Besides, hearing the stories first-hand were much more exciting and more personal. Jer wished she could make it to more of Jay' matches, butsometimes it was just so hard between classes and schoolwork, that she just didn't have the time. Jer closed her eyes to relax a little further, pushing those kinds of thoughts aside; there was no point in dwelling on things that couldn't be fixed at this moment in time.

He laughed as Jerhimi spoke, and when she paused, he stole a kiss from her. Well, there was something rather exciting for her, he supposed.

No matter how much he had tried to deny it, he could have sworn that Maman was already planning their wedding. In fact, this large amount of time from their engagement to their wedding dealt a lot of good to her. She had figured that this would make for the most grandest wedding. After all, Jean was her last child, her baby boy, and she would make sure it was the very best. He wondered what could really beat his other siblings' weddings, for they all too were quite spectacular.

Maman was already ordering bits and pieces, trying them, and then sending them back again. She had made a neat portfolio of all the things she deemed perfect, and had made sure it was ready to share with Jerhimi so that she could have the final decision on them. Ginette had been helping Maman too - for she knew Jer almost as well as Jay did. She was, after all, the person Jay went to the most when they were in school. Even though now he had Luc again, Ginette still knew pretty much everything.

"School is almost over for you, sweetheart," Jay approached the subject tentatively, "I think that a marriage is due to happen sooner or later, don't you think?" Well, there it was out in the open, and he hadn't even told her about winning that match last night.

"Mmmm, I know." Jer resisted the urge to pout about things beyond her control. She couldn't make her degree go any faster; she was already taking the most courses possible per semester, which only had her graduating a semester early. It wasn't a big deal really. At school she didn't do much between reading and studying and sometimes popping in to harass Shay. "Just prefer it'd be sooner rather than later."

Thinking about the wedding made her excited and nervous at the same time. There were things she had pictured perfectly. The warm spring day, yellow lillies, her dress. There were things up in the air of course. Her mother wanted full control of the menu; she was sure Maman wanted to help pick the place and arrange the seating. It was going to be a nighmare. Hopefully not. She was most nervous about being able to please everybody. It felt like there was a tremendous amount of weight on this wedding.

After all, both she and Jay were the last in their families, though she was sure she'd be married before Clyde. She was also sure Clyde would find the kind of girl who couldn't give two hoots about a big flashy wedding. Jer had always fantasized about a huge faerytale wedding, but now that it was upon her, it was a little bit less fantastic. "Can't we just elope?" She half-joked, knowing it was totally not an option.

Watching the rain outside made her eyes droop. There was no reason for her to be tired, after all it was still before lunchtime, but being snuggled under the warm covers with Jay made her comfortable. The whole wedding mess would sort itself out, she was sure. There would probably be yelling, crying and lots and lots of drama. But it was her wedding and she would get what she wanted. That was the attitude she had to take when it came to the planning. Nobody would roll over her and make her change her mind.
