Nintendo did start, and is still in, Japan, so maybe they thought they could add a Japanese title to it for once. I don't really know though. If someone would look it up, I'm sure they could find out.

You just have to read the text below the picture of the Wii and stuff and it'll show the explanation as to the name. NOTE: I recieved an email from Nintendo that Wii WILL be the official name for it! Here is a quote copied from the mail: The Revolution has a final name -- Wii -- but that's just the start of the big news from Nintendo. E3, the biggest video-game event of the year, runs May 9-12. We'll be out in full force to bring you the latest news from the show floor. Check out E3.nintendo.com for wall-to-wall coverage, complete with all the inside info, screen shots and movies you crave! ... What do you think of that?!
