(Please keep tabs open in case you'd like to refer back to patient information.) KE is a 38-year-old white female who has had prediabetes for the past 3 years. She had been controlling herself with diet and exercise, but for the last several months, she has been unable to meet her blood glucose goals and has gained 15kg. Her current fasting glucose is 142mg/dL and her A1C is 7.6%. Her SCr is 2.1mg/dL. 1. The following are true when it comes to differentiating Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes except: a. Patients with type 2 diabetes do not typically present with islet cell antibodies. b. Patients with type 2 diabetes typically have a slow onset of symptoms. c. Patients with type 2 diabetes may present with blurred vision, while Type 1 patients will not. d. Patients with type 2 diabetes may present with weakness and fatigue, while Type 1 patients will not. |
