The scene opens inside a packed bar/nightclub. The décor is decidedly modern, lots of smooth, flowing shapes, cool blue and purple lighting, and all manner of brightly coloured drinks moving from bartender to reveller in various combinations and quantities. The camera moves through the main walkways of the room, riding low to the ground, a “hip’s eye view” of sorts. As it approaches one of the bars, a hand comes into view, its somewhat chubby fingers clutching a folded piece of seemingly-blank paper. The owner of this particular appendage appears to be dressed in some sort of suit, black in colour, although the precise brand is unknown. The person walks past the bar, largely un-noticed by the scores of increasingly drunken socialites fraternising in their various groups and collectives, his pace slow and deliberate. He turns a corner, finding himself at the foot of a large metal staircase, and ascends, making his way to the upper level of the building. After a few moments, he approaches a doorway, the interior separated from him by various strips of fibre-optic lighting. He brushes them aside with his free hand, and steps through. A brief pause, presumably allowing himself the time to look around, and then he continues his journey, turning to the left and making his way past yet more drinkers. After a few seconds, he arrives at a round, metal table, flanked on one side by dark-cushioned, “booth”-style seating. Here he finds a lone figure, fairly short, dressed in baggy black pants, a black long-sleeved shirt, and a black mask with white detail and green dreadlocks. The palms of his hands are wrapped in black tape, and he is currently running his fingers around a small glass containing some sort of clear liquid, along with a few small ice cubes. To those paying attention to CZW broadcasts over the last couple of weeks, this man will be recognised as Silencio, the man brought into the company under the recommendation of “The F’N Boss” TJ Hix two weeks ago at Fade2Black. He makes no obvious acknowledgement of the new arrival at his table, but the man begins to speak anyway. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON Well.. we did it. It may not have gone as smoothly as we would have liked, but here it is.. a signed, official, CZW contract! Cali unfolds the piece of paper and places it on the table in front of Silencio. Silencio lowers his head and reads through the print, as Cali sits at the table opposite him, bringing his face and figure into view for the first time. His dark, slightly-thinning hair is tied back in a ponytail, and he wears a bright pink shirt, unbuttoned slightly, with no tie. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON What did I tell ya, huh? I TOLD you Hix would get us a great gig, and here we are! C Z F’N W, the newest great shining light in the world of professional wrestling! Silencio finishes reading the contract, and slides it back across the table to Cali. Cali picks it up, and folds it back in half, before placing it in his jacket pocket. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON So, on to business.. the first hit of Silencio‘s CZW career.. Cali rummages around in his pocket for a second, then pulls out a single Polaroid photograph. He tosses it across the table, the picture landing face up just in front of Silencio. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON ..“Awesome” Shawn Duncan. Silencio looks down at the photograph, the camera following his gaze until the picture fills all but the outermost margins of the screen. The scene lingers on the picture of Shawn for a few moments, before fading to black. ------------------------ SCENE TWO ------------------------ The scene fades back in, and the setting is immediately the complete opposite to where we last were. The mid-afternoon sun filters intermittently through thick grey clouds, shining down on one of the great natural wonders of the western world, the Giants’ Causeway. The result of an ancient volcanic eruption, this remarkable collection of interlocking basalt columns has drawn tourists to this remote part of coastal Northern Ireland for hundreds of years. On this particular day, the causeway has attracted Silencio and Cali, the two stood on one of the highest points of the formation, gazing out across the ocean as the waves of the United Kingdom’s North Channel crash against the base of the structure several metres below. As Silencio continues to stare out to sea, assuming an almost meditative state, Cali turns to face the camera. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON The legend of Giant’s Causeway is one that has been passed down from generation to generation around these parts for thousands of years. The story goes that a great Irish warrior by the name of Fionn mac Cumhaill, or “Finn McCool“, built this causeway in order to walk to Scotland, with the intention of fighting their finest warrior, named Benandonner. However, Finn fell asleep before he could reach his destination, and when he didn’t show up for the fight, Benandonner - a much larger man than Finn - crossed the bridge from the other side in order to try and find him. Realizing the danger that Finn was now in, his wife Oonagh laid a blanket over him, so she could pretend that he was actually their baby son. When Benandonner saw the so-called “baby”, he naturally assumed that the child’s father must have been even bigger than himself, and fled home in terror, ripping up the causeway as he went so as to avoid being followed by Finn. You could argue that this legend holds several similarities with the situation in which my associate and I find ourselves this week. We find ourselves setting out across a bridge built by that one true legend of the business, “The F’N Boss” TJ Hix, fully intent on doing battle with the giants, the so-called “great warriors” that this company has wasted all its valuable time and energy promoting over these past couple of years. In our story, however, there is no sleeping before we reach our destination. There is no disguising one’s self as a baby, in order to protect us from those who wish to do us harm. The only disguise my associate chooses to wear is his mask, because he recognizes the absolute truth that humankind ALWAYS fears most that which it cannot see, that which it cannot understand. In OUR story, the great warrior arrives at his destination, and proceeds to blaze a trail of ruthlessness and destruction, dispatching one target after another, until all left standing know him and revere him as THE ultimate machine. Swift, silent, precise, deadly.. the archetypal assassin. Already, the effects of Silencio’s expertise are beginning to be felt. Ruthless Aggression and Sirena Starr may have stolen a victory in the “official” unveiling, but ask yourselves who was left lying in a pool of their own blood by the time the action halted. El Pablo, too, has already felt the force of Silencio’s hand. The company’s precious “Five Star Superstar”, the fan’s number one poster boy, was so engrossed in celebrating his victory over “The F’N Boss” that he never even considered his opponent might have had a much bigger plan up his sleeve than simply beating his opponent in a run-of-the-mill wrestling match. Out comes Silencio, BAM! The EPIC Champion finds himself on the receiving end of an altogether different “grand slam”. The part you should REALLY be concerned about, El Pablo, is that you haven’t been subjected to even HALF of what Silencio is capable of. Your friends in XTC may have saved you on that occasion, but rest assured, “The F’N Boss” has tabled a fine offer for your elimination, one which we intend to deliver on in due course. In the meantime, however, we must concern ourselves with another name currently inscribed upon one of the many bullets inside Silencio’s CZW chamber. Cali places a hand inside the chest pocket of his suit jacket, and pulls out the same photograph of “Awesome” Shawn Duncan that we saw in the bar. He scans his eyes over it for a second, then turns it round and holds it up to the camera. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON “Awesome” Shawn Duncan.. You appear to have developed quite the little following amongst the fans here in CZW. And, despite what could best be described as an “inconsistent” run of results thus far, you find yourself with a VIP ticket for the upcoming Money In The Bank match at Hatewave II. Well Shawn, allow us to be the ones who rain on your precious little victory parade. Because any hope you may have had of going into that potentially career-making contest with a head full of victory steam were well and truly dashed the moment the CZW authorities hand-picked YOU as the man to officially welcome Silencio into the CZW collective. Cali turns towards Silencio, and hands him the photograph. Silencio turns back to the ocean, holding the photo down in front of his chest, eyes fixed upon the image of his opponent, as Cali turns to address the camera once more. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON But don’t feel too disheartened, Shawn.. because if nothing else, your name will go down in history as the very first CZW employee to feel the cold, hard snap.. Suddenly, Silencio flicks his wrist, causing the photograph to disintegrate in a small ball of flame. A sadistic smile spreads across Cali’s face, his narrowed eyes piercing even further down into the lens. JOHN “CALI” DAVIDSON ..of the Headshot. The scene fades to black. |
