Caleb Walker
Rookie
It is during the most recent Overdrive. Three newcomers are wrestling early in the show in front of a huge crowd, one of CZW's hugest. There is one person of particular interest, standing in the shadows unnoticed by the crowd and the cameras. Caleb Walker watches the events as they unfold; first he is watching all three of the men, but by the mid-way point he is watching only one of them. He watches every move, every attack, every moment of pain. Even when the winner is decided, Caleb still watches his target. Caleb calmly turns and walks backstage.

*******

There are several temporary offices in the back and Caleb makes his way there. There had been some interference with Covey, but Caleb did not really concern himself with that. 'Maybe later', he muses. Covey would certainly be someone to look closely at in the future. But Caleb is concerned with now. He sees a clerical assistant and stops him.

Walker: "I want to speak with the head booker."

Assistant: "Sure, he's right back through that door."

Caleb does not acknowledge the man other than to turn toward the door, walk up to it, and knock.

Voice: "Its open, come on in."

Walker opens the door and approaches the man, who has his back to the door. Caleb did not immediately recognize him.

Walker: "I want a match for the next Overdrive."

The man in the chair behind the desk turns...

...to reveal the former Janitor, Billy Williams! There is a long moment of silence.

Billy, smirking: "Well, this is pretty awkward, is it?"

Walker: "What are you doing here?"

Billy: "You haven't heard the news? I'm the new head booker of CZW! And I won't be just handing people title shots like lollipops at the barber. You'll have to work to get your due while I'm around."

If it were another man, a hundred bad possibilities would have passed through him head. He had been part of beating this man to goad Godzilla Sawyer into giving The Impaler another TV title shot. Caleb just stood there silently.

Walker: "Then I would like a match against Xavier Reid for the next Overdrive."

Billy: "Reid? Why him?"

Walker: "I am not a fool. I could simply attack someone, try to force a title match of some kind, but what would that prove. If you are booker then I'm sure you know some of what has happened to me this year. I'm clean now and ready to do what I do best. But I realize that, Next Generation member or not, I am at the bottom of CZW. I want to be back where I belong, at the top, facing Cage Stryker or whoever else may hold the World Championship in the future. But I am not ready for that, yet. I have to make sure there is no rust to shake off, make sure my body is ready for the bigger matches. More than his two opponents tonight, Xavier Reid has shown me that he is more of a traditionalist, a man who would rather pin his opponent than hit him with a foreign object. While I am not opposed to hitting someone with a weapon, I will need solid victories against quality opponents to get where I want to go. Reid may be new to CZW, but he is no rookie. Defeating him would mean more to me right now than the other newcomers."

Billy thought for a moment: "What about Bryan Daniels?"

Walker: "What about him?"

Billy: "He took out your partner Impaler and seems to want a piece of your boss, Tim Timmons."

Walker: "First, Timmons is not my 'boss'. We are business partners. Second, he needs no help from me dealing with a punk like Daniels. MY job right now is to get back in contention and prove that I deserve to be in Next Generation, to hold up my end of the bargain."

Billy: "I'll tell you what, I'll give you the match, but not because you asked but because it does make sense. With Reid, you, Slate, Suicide, Daniels, Silencio, and who knows who else we have a lot of guys trying to build themselves right now and the only way they can do that is to wrestle! And I think the fans would like to see the clash of styles that you two can give. So next week, Caleb Walker versus Xavier Reid. Have fun with it, Caleb. Personally, I hope he cleans your clock and humiliates the hell out of you."

Walker: "That is fine. Your wishes on whether I win or not do not concern me. I am a machine."

Walker flexes his right arm, his muscles bulging.

Walker: "I have honed my muscles and bones into iron that exerts a force like a hydraulic press. I am finally back at peak efficiency and performance. Xavier Reid is not an opponent, he is like the used automobile that is about to be crushed into a small cube of material. I hope he is ready to face not a man, but a soulless, heartless machine whose only focus is to succeed and move upward, one broken body at a time. I am the Machine, Caleb Walker."

Billy looks at Caleb for a moment as if Walker has lost a few cards in his deck and says: "Okaaaaay. You go with that. See you on Overdrive."

Caleb turns and walks away as Billy whistles and makes a 'crazy' sign with his finger to his head.
