The One Man Legacy
There’s something coming
And its coming for you.
The mob is restless
Looking for something new.
You lead us here
With an eternal promise.
The gallows are calling
For you to pay for this.

Now that we’re left here on our own
There is nowhere left to turn
Who will see me through?

Your heroes are dead.
They were all in you head.
When nothing is left we’ll start again.

What fitting ends
To our fearless fathers
The cost of treason
Isn't paid in dollars
With nothing left
There is nothing to lose
We’ll watch the city gates
Falling all around you

You said I’d never make it
That I could only fail
But I'm the one who’s standing
And what has happened to you?

Now that we’ve said goodbye to you
We’ve started something new

Your heroes are gone
They left with the dawn
Now its just us well carry on

~Your Heroes Are Dead: Project 86

"By hook or crook, it happened again...I walked in, fought my ass off, and a cheating prick walks out with the belt. Makes you wonder sometimes if it's worth it...if it's worth the fight, if it's worth the effort you put into getting to that level, only to be knocked back down by some little coward out to save his master or the underhanded tactics of a champion not worthy of his belt...And then...to see someone like Fiscus awarded for his actions...It reminds me of what I fight for..."

As the camera opens on the scene, we see that Jenny Jacobs has, indeed, got the former World Champion, Cage Stryker, seated for an interview. Neither look particularly enamored with the idea, nor with each other, but they at least seem to be talking before the interview. A signal of camera stops the idle chat, however, Cage sitting back in his chair and tapping a foot against the ground.

Jenny: “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, Cage Stryker. Cage, I hate to set a mood low at the beginning of an interview, but Re-United We Stand…”

Cage: Yeah, Reunited We Stand didn’t go the way I wanted it, but let’s look back on that tape. How many people did I go through? How many near falls did I still kick out of? What did Alan finally have to do to put High Definition down.”

Jenny: “Well, you’ve said it yourself; when it comes to the CZW World Title, you do what you have to in order to win it.”

Cage: “Do I begrudge him for doing what he felt like he had to? No. But he proved exactly what I’ve said about him; he proved he doesn’t deserve the belt. I told you all that he has to rely on cheap tricks and weapons to get the advantage. And what happened? Just like I told the world would happen, Alan couldn’t go toe to toe with me. He shot his wad a half-hour in, and had that match been three seconds longer, I would have taken that briefcase and shoved it straight up his ass. Am I satisfied with the outcome? Absolutely not. But Alan knows what it takes to hold that belt, just like everyone in that locker room should know what it takes.”

Jenny: “Moving away from the match itself, I want to address a rumor going around the locker room that, because of your loss to Alan Fiscus, Jesse Montana is no longer considering you a viable contender for the World Title at this point.”

Cage: “Jenny…before I say anything about that, let me ask you a question. And I’m being serious here. Do I look like an idiot to you?”

Jenny tilts her head a little bit, looking over at Cage like he’s crazy.

Jenny: “…What?”

Cage: “Don’t make me go through the whole Pulp Fiction scene, Jenny. Just answer the question.”

Jenny: “Well, no, but…why do you ask?”

Cage: “You think I don’t know that? You think I don’t know he’s trying to push me out of the entire championship picture? Trust me, he wouldn’t have handed me an undeserving piece of shit in the mid-card if he still thought the loser of that match should be involved in the title picture. THE FORMER CHAMP SEEKS THE TOP AGAIN, FACING THE RIPPER! What kind of bullshit is that? The fact of the matter is, Jenny, it doesn’t matter. Montana can send all the morons he wants after me to try and slow my return to the top. And frankly, I wish them all luck; I wish Brian luck in his quest against me, because quite frankly, it’s gonna be an honor to show that little punk his place. He may have destroyed SJ’s chance of some grand return…but this ‘little booger’ won’t go down as easy.

Jenny: “Speaking of Brian McNally, you face off with him for the third time this week.”

Cage: “Yeah…the third time in my career here in the CzW…possibly more. And do you recall what exactly happened all those other times?”

Jenny: “He ended up KO’ed because of your devastating finishers.”

Cage laughs a little bit, nodding slowly. He’s quiet for a second, letting that comment linger in the air.

Cage: “That’s exactly right. He ended up being dragged out by EMTs.”

Jenny: “Awfully cocky considering you are no longer champ.”

Cage: “Jenny, rather I’m champ or not, I’ve already cemented my name in the world title status. I’ve already made that climb. And no one will stop me from reclaiming what is rightfully mine. McNally, the truth of the matter is simple. This little victorious return you’ve made has gone to your head. You believe yourself infinitely better than you’ve proven to anyone else, and Montana thinking you of all people should be my opponent is ridiculous. The Hollywood Knights should be in that Golden Age Tag Team Main Event if anything. Even during CzW’s dark times…we still prevailed delivering the best High Definition Entertainment. But because Jesse has some sort of issue with me…he’s put me smack in the middle of the show. You’re coming face to face with a reality check this weekend, Brian. You’re stepping up to a level of competition you simply haven’t faced up to this point. You’re stepping into a whole new world this weekend, and the truth is, you can’t handle it. Anyone can dominate a few no-named punks, boyo. It takes a whole different animal to handle men like Cage Stryker, men like Alan Fiscus. Then beating SJ Funk…Mr. Cosmetic…means nothing, ultimately. Brian, I BEG you to come in thinking that Elimination Chamber took anything out of me. I BEG you to come in to Overdrive thinking that the loss at RWS took the drive out of me, because it’ll be the last thing you think in this company. All that loss did was make me more determined…and Alan Fiscus? Once I’ve gone through Brian, I’ll be coming for you again…

And this time…Cage Stryker will be nothing short…of indestructible.

All week, people have been asking me why the sudden change. Why are the rumors going around that I’ve become someone…different. The answer is simple; I realized something, while I took the couple weeks off to get over Alan’s thievery. Everyone, from the camera crew to the biggest of wrestlers, seems to kneel at the feet of the man. They all fear him and what he’s willing to do. The way they used to fear what I would do…

I’ve came back with a different mission. A different reason for being here. I still believe, in my heart of hearts, if MitB, I would have been World Champion, I wouldn’t have been blind-sided. I would have got to celebrate my victory properly. Going through six other men.”

Jenny: “Cage, this week, you still indeed have got an interesting challenge ahead of you; CZW alumni Brian McNally. With all that’s happened in the past couple of weeks, do you think you returning has Alan Fiscus on edge?”

Cage: “I think it obviously has Alan on edge, Jenny. Whether he’ll tell you so or not, you look into those beady little eyes of his and you realize that, behind that “I’m Sadistic” exterior is a scared individual. Not scared like he’s afraid to fight me…I don’t think Alan is afraid to fight anyone, quite frankly, and he’s perfectly willing to show you that. Which is one quality, albeit probably the only one, I like about him.

No…he’s afraid of losing that iron grip he holds on the locker room. Afraid of losing that shiny championship that means so much to him. He’s not afraid of a fight; he’s afraid of LOSING a fight. That same fear that I had going into the Chamber. Albeit, I may have won the chamber itself, but what ultimately happened? I failed. Alan Fiscus? You fear failure…you fear loss. And the same thing that happened to me will happen to you…you will fail. You will lose.”

Jenny: “Your opponent this week is Brian McNally…a bit untested since his return, but he’s shown no fear of the bright lights.”

Cage: “He’s beaten SJ. I know Brian McNally is tough, Jenny, but good god…he’s going from the bottom of the food chain to the very top this week. And it doesn’t matter what he does to try and convince himself otherwise, when he steps into the MGM Grand Arena this week, he’s getting into the ring with the single best wrestler he’s faced in his career, here or elsewhere.

He can convince himself that he’s ready for whatever comes his way, but the fact of the matter, Jenny? The fact of the matter is, all the nicknames, gimmicks, beliefs…none of them matter. He can call himself the Ripper, but this week, the Ripper steps up against the Truthless Hero, and we don’t get the fairy tale ending Brian McNally’s hoping.”

Cage stops to take a breath, shaking his head and laughing.

Cage: “Brian…I want you to take a long, hard look in the mirror before you step into the ring this week. I want you to take a look at yourself as you are now. I want you to marvel at yourself. And then, come down to the ring; come to face High Definition, Cage Stryker. Come down ready to fight, come down knowing who your opponent is going to be.

And when you step between those ropes, I want you to look up. I want you to pray to whatever deity you believe in. I want you to look up to the heavens and hope you’re embraced, because at the end of the night, you’re going to realize that Cage Stryker isn’t one to be taken lightly. He’s not a man to write off as just another victory.

It took a halberton case in order for Alan Fiscus to be victorious over me, Brian. Do you understand that? Before you’re ready to come down to the ring, consider that; are you willing to give everything of yourself in an effort to beat me? Are you willing to put your body on the line, willing to take a stomping from Cage Stryker, on the chance that you come out victorious? Or is your heart not in this match? Are you focused on guys like SJ Funk or Hayes?

If that’s the case…if you’re even partially focused on anything that isn’t the immediate threat that will be standing in the ring with you this Monday night, you’ve already lost. And as easy as that would make my night, I’ve got more in store than just a victory…So rest up, Brian. Be well prepared, eat your breakfast and all that shit they tell you in elementary school before a test.

And Alan? Just…in case you’re curious, maybe you ought to watch. Because the lengths I go to defeat Brian McNally this week will be nothing compared to what I’m willing to do to take that championship back from you. It will be nothing compared to what I’m willing to put myself through to end your reign.

Every part of me is focused...Every part of me is ready…And Alan Fiscus…at the end of this week, your fate will be sealed, when the clock tells you that you just couldn’t get the job done…

A new heir to the throne has come, Fiscus. Think you can keep your place atop the Kingdom?”

Jenny: “Now Cage…you said something about a truthless hero? What is that? We thought you were High Definition.”

Cage: “I am Jenny, but what I mean by the name is this. I am the hero of all these CzW fans. I was the man that stood up for truth, justice, and the California Dream. I was the man…I was the victor at the end of the elimination chamber. Now…now, I’m nothing more than a shell of my former self. The fans idolize me…they look up to me…but they have no idea why. Alan cheated me…though yes, it was his right to cash in whenever…but he did it before all my peers in my hometown. Either way though…it’s too complex to explain to someone as dense as you are. I am CzW’s Truthless Hero, I just have to relocate my path. I jest at the name type of my match. Rather I beat the Ripper or not, I’m still at the top. BB is King of Combat…but I’m still a contender. And at Overdrive, Alan will know what I mean.”

Jenny: “Well Cage, I thank you for your time, but unfortunately…our time is up. This is Jenny Jacobs signing off.”

Cage stands up and walks out of the room.

Cage: “So you pulled a fast one on me Alan. Congrats on that…but fact of the matter is this…I won. You may have had that briefcase, but when I go to take back what is mine…you won’t have that little trick anymore. And now Brian stands in my way. I showed the world though…I silenced all the critics when I did exactly what I said I would do. It may have been a short-lived victory, but it was still a victory no less. Now Brian…I’ve beat you before…and never once have you ever defeated me. I hope you don’t expect anything different this time. I’m going to break you Brian…I’m going to send a message…loud and clear to Alan and anyone else who wants to get in the way of my regaining of the World Title. Brian…you are the beginning of my return to the top. A beginning of a new streak. Till then…I’m out…peace.”
