CZW Rising Star!
|
We see what appears to be a door in a corridor of an office building. There is some kind of symbol on the wall in the background but we cannot quite see what it is. The door opens and J. A. Sawyer, dressed in a green polo style shirt and grey slacks, steps out of the room beyond followed by a man in a dress suit minus the jacket. Man: “Thank you for you cooperation in this matter, Mr. Sawyer. I think you’ve provided enough information about your whereabouts on the date in question.” Sawyer, nodding: “Not a problem. I won’t say coming in here is all fun and giggles, but I always do what I can to keep things running smoothly in my life and those around me. You need anything else, just call.” The two men shake hands and Sawyer walks away. ************ The camera changes scenes, now shows Sawyer walking outside. He is dressed the same way but now has a light windbreaker on over the shirt. His cheeks and forehead are a little red and we can just see his breath puff when he exhales indicating a cool temperature. There are tall buildings on both sides of the street but nothing particularly huge like in New York or Chicago. He continues to walk past one lonely skyscraper and out onto a bridge that spans a small, slow moving river. Sawyer: “It’s cold in Grand Rapids tonight. I barely feel it, though. I’m colder on the inside. Cold and dead.” He crosses the bridge about half-way. The camera is pointed at his profile as he leans on the handrail of the bridge. Past him we see a squat white building surrounded by a nice grassy park, and in front of the building is a statue of an astronaut. Sawyer, glancing at the structure: “That’s the Roger B. Chafee Museum. For those who don’t know that part of NASA history, he was one of the three American astronauts to die before the Columbia Shuttle explosion. They were on a training exercise locked in a mock module when a fire broke out. Three men died before the techs could get the doors open. He was from Grand Rapids. “How am I supposed to feel? This is the first time in my wrestling career that something from that life really intruded upon this life. And Tim Timmons, he seems to have gone completely insane, doing crazy things and justifying his actions on falsehoods." Sawyer looks into the camera, cottony clouds puffing out with each word. He shivers just a bit from the cold. Sawyer: “Tim, there was one second there that I felt something for you. When they showed the clip of your place burning, right then our rivalry meant nothing to me. We aren’t friends, but we are part of a unique social club that usually sticks together when something bad happens. Sort of like a fraternity. I was sorry that you lost your home but pleased that no one seemed to be hurt physically. I’ve had my share of pain and I know how hard it can be to process mentally and emotionally. Hell, I had my own trip to crazytown that almost sent me over the edge for good. I came close and began to fall, but with a little help from my friends, I held on to the edge of that cliff and pulled myself back up on my feet. Tim Timmons, you saw that cliff and dove right over it head first without really caring where it took you.” Sawyer steps back. We can see a variety of emotions playing on his face, his body language, and in his eyes. He looks one step away from tears. Sawyer: “I’m sure by now you’ve realized that…you got the wrong Sawyer, Tim. You were close, but Sarah isn’t my kid, she’s my niece. My older brother’s daughter. But you know, it doesn’t really change things. You have the audacity to put your hands on my family, to bring them into this based on a video you received. I admit that whoever sent you that video had to be at the fire. But Tim, the footage of me could only have been acquired by anyone, ANYONE, that recorded the Pay Per View or looked the footage up on Youtube. I mean, honestly, I wasn’t filming myself, that was from CZW cameras. It would not have taken much investigation at all to find out that I wasn’t anywhere near your place on that day. Instead of doing that, you went off on a bit of a spree. Now, I’m part of not one, but two legal matters.” At this point Sawyer is gripping the rail so tightly his knuckles are turning white. He is trembling slightly. Sawyer: “And you, Newsome. You knew what he was doing was wrong. You knew he was out of line. Hell, if you didn’t, you should have known I would never have done something like what happened to Tim’s house. And I’m sure you realize now that, at any time, you could have stepped in. Even if you didn’t want to challenge Timmons, you could have made a phone call. But no. You stood there with a stupid expression on your face and LET IT HAPPEN! That video piece showed the big, powerful Mountain Man is such a spineless coward that he would allow another man to terrorize a teenaged girl who has never done anything to you or Timmons. I honestly hope that act of abject cowardice preys on your mind, man. Because you knew and yet did nothing. ” Anger in his eyes, Sawyer spits onto the ground in front of him. Sawyer: “And Tim, I realize you live in your own little world. You always have. Every victory you’ve had has been clean and well-deserved, and every loss has been a fluke or the other guy cheated. But you know, Tim, to see you in that video saying you didn’t touch Sarah when she is behind you bleeding, that is such absurdist fantasy that its almost comedic. You can’t really change what you did by reinterpreting history, Tim. Because of your video, we all were there to see it. “And now, this week, I am once again in a tag team match against Next Generation, this time with Rob Wright at my back. I don’t know what to say about that. At least I knew that Kirkland had no love lost for Next Gen and would be there. And I know I let him down. We were in a tag team match and I let him get double-teamed. I should have been better than that. But Wright, he and I have had a couple scrapes before too, and how can I be sure that this isn’t just one big set up to get me alone in the ring with Tim and two or three of his cronies? And why another tag match, anyway? Are they trying to find a good tag team or two by just putting guys together? I don’t know. I don’t know if I can trust ‘The Real Deal’. I don’t know what I can do to ease Sarah’s fear after all this. I don’t even know if up is down right now. “Tim Timmons, you said that all this would make me show what kind of man I am. As opposed to what, a sleazeball who things that targeting young girls to get back at their uncles? Is that an upstanding, manly thing to do? You act like a tough guy, Tim, but you really are just a bully. You push people around because you can but you squeal like a punk when you don’t get your way. Being tough, being a man, isn’t about doing what you want and beating people up. It’s about being able to stand against the wind, to keep the dogs at bay, to be the buffer and take as much pain and aggravation as you can so your friends and family don’t have to. That’s the measure of a man, Tim. If you really think that me putting my title up for grabs because you assaulted a family member of mine, then your mind really is just a black hole that nothing good ever escapes from. I know you expect me to go nuts, to do whatever I have to in order to protect my family. And I plan to, Tim. Just not in the way you think. Because I don’t think the way you think. I’m not looking for revenge. I’m seeking justice. “So Tim and Mountain Man, I will be at Overdrive and I will wrestle the match as if my career depends on it like I always do. Rob Wright, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’ve never turned on a partner of mine and I never will. For the duration of this match, I am your partner and I will back you up, I just hope you do the same. “Tim, it’s cold in Grand Rapids tonight, and it's cold in my soul. And it’s going to be even colder in Dallas for you. You want my golden belt, Tim Timmons, but I’m telling you now that you will get nothing. NOTHING! In the end, I’m just gonna leave you broken...worthless...and cold.” |
