The One Man Legacy
|
I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you -Leviticus 26:17 The Disasterpiece Mortius A So-Called “Juggernaut” I’ve had my mind on that name since Reunited We Stand. That was the day I realized Mortius had come back after abandoning his partner Brian Blaze. BB deserves better than that piece of trash. I’ve waited patiently for my chance. Wrestling in matches that have meant nothing to me. Being robbed of my illustrious World Title. Wasting my time. Risking my neck. For this. For this day. December 7. That’s the day that I’ll finally get my shot at you Mortius. At proving the Hollywood Knights are not dead. They were just beginning. I’m sure you are over looking me for multiple reasons. That was a reoccurring theme during my days in the business world before I established myself. But all I needed was a chance. I never wasted an opportunity I was given and I constantly proved people wrong. At this point in my wrestling career, there are doubters. I understand that. It comes with the territory. The taste of victory wouldn’t be so sweet if everybody knew you could do it. Now I’m coming out of nowhere to everyone in a different business - the wrestling business. All you wrestlers aren’t educated enough to know what my impact on society and the economy has been. Most of you are too ignorant to know what I’ve even done in the ring so far. If you knew what I’ve done so far in my life, maybe you wouldn’t take me so lightly. You’d appreciate who I am, or at least respect it, and know it’s more than you will ever hope to be. You won’t have to wait long now. You will see exactly what I’m talking about. But if only you could see the past. How I got here. Maybe you would know what I’m capable of. Just maybe…. -------------------- A crowded arena holding some of the most promising business prospects in America are gathered in cap and gown, waiting to receive their recognition for their hard work. A banner hangs above the stage saying “Congratulations New York Police Academy ’04 Graduates”. The keynote speakers go through their routines as they congratulate the young men and women on their recent accomplishment. Then as his speech finishes, the president of the university introduces a young man in introduced as valedictorian. School President: It is now my great pleasure to introduce you to our 2004 valedictorian. Please welcome Johnathan Kurtis. A younger version of who we know in the wrestling world as “The High Definition” rises from his seat on stage towards the podium. Cage rolls through his note cards comfortably, with the audience hanging on his word. We listen in towards of the speech. Cage Stryker: There are great men in and women in this room. People who have spent nights in libraries. Days buried in books. Weeks consumed with classes. And years contemplating their futures. The culmination of which has lead us here. To a degree. To a bright future in whatever police ventures we travel. Through out our travels we need to remember where we came from. We are the proud alumni’s of NYPD Blue. We came in better than the rest, and we leave leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. But know, that even though our battle through our schooling has finished, a war is ahead of us. And while as I said, we are all ahead of the rest of the outside world, it’s important for you to remember that I am up here, and you are down there for a reason. Despite the hard work all of you have put it, I am still ahead. It will remain that way out of the classroom and into the real world. You all will do great…but every now and then…there’s always one better…and though I may have exceeded the rest of you…your stars still shine bright. The perplexed graduates look around the room as a small applause comes from the suits on stage and some of the crowd. -------------------- The scene switches outside to Hollywood. Men with suits stand around professional speaking about business and the Dolphins. In the center of the group is Cage Stryker, looking a little older in age, but the same cocky demeanor. Man #1: What is this, the third LA Stryker installment TJ Hix productions have produced? Cage Stryker: Fourth. But this is the first to have ever been filmed on location. Man #2: Wasn‘t it dangerous? Cage Stryker: Sure it was, but that’s what’s made it probably the greatest ever done. But all my past experience on the beat helped me in filming this a lot. Man #2: Wow, I’m impressed. You truly make rags to riches look good. You went from geek…to street hood…to the top of your class…to valedictorian in NYPD Academy…to actor…to former CZW World Champion. Cage Stryker: Former champ…you f**kin ass…you did have to remind me of that. But excuse me, I’ve got to address my fans. The men all laugh together as Mr. Stryker walks up to the podium and delivers a speech. News cameras gather around watching the owner with a large pair of scissors, cutting a large, red ribbon opening the new LA Stryker studio. -------------------- The next shot shows Mr. Stryker gorgeous home in Malibu. He is shown sitting in office in the house, sipping on a glass of wine, reading a publication. Cage smiles and sips as he sets the magazine down to our view. It shows to cover of CZW Magazine with a picture of him on it, reading “Longest Reigning World Champ.” -------------------- Next we see a montage of Mr. Stryker wrestling so far in his CzW career. His entrance is shown, followed up by his first pin fall, Mike King. Then it changes dates and shows “The High Definition” hitting the Cage Implant DDT on current CZW Heavyweight Champion, Alan Fiscus, and covering him for the pin fall. Finally he is shown locking on his ‘No Escape‘ submission on the Ripper, for his latest victory. The scene fades. -------------------- Our scene opens up with a black back drop that reads CzW Overdrive. Two director chairs are set up, on the left, interviewer Ryan Lewis. On the right, “The High Definition” Cage Stryker. Cage is drinking an espresso, waiting for the interview to begin. The camera man gives a lead in to Ryan, and the interview begins. Ryan Lewis: Welcome everyone to our three part interview with up and coming star “The High Definition” Cage Stryker. Thanks for making time for us Mr. Stryker. Cage Stryker: Wrestling is my number one right now. So any press or signing events are top priority for me. It’s important to make sure the public knows who you are, that way they know who to talk about as the future star on this organization. Ryan Lewis: We have been seeing quite a bit of you over these last couple of years here in the CzW. You’ve been involved in in so many different match types during your tenure here. Tables, ladders, barbed wire, elimination chambers, the list goes on and on. Not to forget you going toe to toe with The Ripper…possibly one of the most twisted individuals here in the CzW. How is your body holding up? Cage Stryker: You forget the fact that I’ve put myself in those matches. I’ve wanted to prove a point to all my fans and all the superstars here in the CzW. And I was set to do it again this week…but instead…Jesse Montana and his jealousy wound up putting me in a cage match with one Mortius, I’ve recovered well and my body feels pretty good this week, so I’m as 100% as I can be. Ryan Lewis: I must say though, considering you are our former CzW Heavyweight Champion…why haven‘t we really seen you participating in that division as of late? Don‘t you have a rematch clause or something. I mean…you were knocked back down to mid card status little over a weeks ago. What gives? What’s your mindset on all of that? Cage Stryker: I’ve been trying to stay fresh. It’s been hard to do with the matches I’ve been scheduled in, but I’ve done it. But you wanna know the real reason why? I actually have a couple of reasons for it. For one, a good friend of mine, Brian Blaze decided to cash in his rights to the World Title for winning and becoming our 2009 King of Combat winner. I’m not one to try and steal the glory from others. My second reason is actually comprised of two different reason. Alan Fiscus is afraid of me and Jesse Montana is jealous of me. Just like this week for instance, I had requested an Ultimate X match against Krimzon Blaze, but was over ruled and now I face Mortius. Other than that, I’ve been doing a lot of yoga and pilaties these past two weeks, and a lot of meditation. I’ve been centered myself to get into a place that will spiritually and physically get me in the right mindset for my match. Ryan Lewis: What about a workout regime? Cage Stryker: Listen, my body is perfect. I don’t need to go on a two hour a day weightlifting program with six small meals a day and a shot of steroids in the ass to get prepared. I’ve always been dedicated to my profession, but I’m not here to become a strong man. My mind alone will let me beat my opponent. For the most part they defeat themselves. I’m just able to put myself in the right place and the right time, and that has already got me title shots in the past one, less than two months into my wrestling career, so obviously I’m doing things right. I’ve worked hard for everything I’ve gained even though I have my share of non believers. Ryan Lewis: There are a lot of fans out there that don’t like this new you, they think you are too cocky. They say you’ve let them down. What do you have to say to them? Cage Stryker: I don’t know what to say to them anymore? I’ve brought them everything they’ve come to expect from the wrestling business. I’ve gone out their and shed my blood, sweat, and tears for all of them…I’ve tried to make it worth their time. I’ve came to a few ruts along the way…I won’t deny that. I’ve had my share of losses, so I’m not going to come out here and say I’m the best damned wrestler ever. Everyone of those guys in the back all deserve all they’ve got…though some have went the wrong way about getting it. I love my fans rather they love me or not…and I know I still have a hellacious fan base. The true believers…the ones that will never turn their backs on me no matter what happens. As for the ones that have shied away from me…I guess I just have to earn them back and show them why I am and always have been their hero. I’ll have to show them why I am called High Definition. Cage match this week…Jesse Montana guest ref as I face off with Mortius…if that’s where I have to begin…so be it. Ryan Lewis: Alright, thank you Mr. Stryker. We’ll be right back after this. -------------------- Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you... -Revelations 2:10 It’s been a tough week. I’ve been going over in my mind again and again one single issue, and still haven’t come up with a solution. What am I going to do with Mortius when we are locked in a cage…while Jesse of all people, preside over it? Do I want to try and escape it ASAP? Do I want to grind Mortius’ face into the unforgiving steel? Do I want to ignore Mortius all together considering I have no real deal with him…or BA for that matter? Nah, I couldn’t do that…and Mortius wouldn’t give me a chance? Maybe I could fight that good fight that I’ve apparently been so kind as to do since I came to CzW? Hell, maybe I should give Mortius the same treatment as I did McNally and dig my hole that much deeper with Beautiful Agony. Then I thought about ignoring Mortius all together and go after the real enemy in the match…Jesse Montana. Unfortunately, I‘m not against an opponent that I could easily by pass and do just that with. It wouldn’t work; it would look like something less than the image I try to portray here…local hero snaps on his boss. Yeah, that‘d be real professional. Jesse is trying to slow me down…he’s trying to stop me from regaining my rightful glory. He’s jealous…jealous of all that I can…and will do. Him being referee…that’s just him trying to get into my head and try to destroy me from the inside out. Unfortunately, it also means the boss has gained himself another stooge…who will probably drag BB with him. Then there’s the possibility of doing exactly as this match is meant to be done. Go in there as the ruthless bloodthirsty maniac that Cage Matches seem to create. Be the good guy…forget the fact that when you were teamed with McNally, be bicycle kicked your f**king head off at the end of the match. Forget the fact that the Ripper tried to destroy Cage Stryker months ago during his journey to X-Division gold. Yeah, forgive and forget right? That’s the Beautiful Agony way right? Not what I just heard. Don’t drop shit…fine…just don’t cry when another of your ranks get dropped. Then, all the member of Beautiful Agony need to take a good look at what shit that they’ve put me through over these last couple of years…and then ask me again…Why Cage, why? After thinking about it so much, I realize I don’t even care about what they think of me. I don’t know what I’m going to do with them. Every member in Beautiful Agony…save for Brian Blaze and Eddie Rowan…I have faced before…and defeated. Mortius shall be next. Maybe those other two will be down the line…especially when BB takes the World Title from Alan. My sole motivation this week is beating somebody that nobody is giving me a chance against. All I’ve heard about since Reunited We Stand…Mortius is back. Mortius is so awesome. He‘s a juggernaut. Sweep of Overdrive. Greatest tag team ever. Headlining pay per views and dominating the mid show. It’s almost like all you have to do is stumble through the CzW wearing black clothes and pretending to be some sort of death dealer and you can garner immortal fame. If I had as little self worth as the men from this faction, I might give it a try. But this is all about Mortius . The man that is a polar opposite for myself. Mortius is a man that would rather sleep on a sidewalk to prove to himself that he is tough. While people might fear him in life and Beautiful Agony, let it be known, Cage Stryker has no fear. It’s much harder to put yourself through school and gain respect on the beat than going cemetery to cemetery, grave to grave each night. Mortius is a failure, plain and simple. His malfunctions as a human being might gain fear, but it doesn’t make you stronger or tougher, as he claims. He becomes weaker, and less likely to succeed in situations that are the least bit challenging to him. And believe me, this Monday will be a challenge. ------------------------- We enter mid conversation, picking up where we left off last time with Ryan Lewis and Cage Stryker. Ryan Lewis: Your match last Overdrive against Brian McNally came out with you winning. Cage Stryker: Of course. Ryan Lewis: What was going through your head when you assaulted Brian after the match even though you had already won? That’s made you almost look like the bad guy…and your fans are confused while Beautiful Agony wants your head on a platter. Cage Stryker: You wanna know what was going through my head Ryan? I was pissed. There I was…the longest reigning CzW Heavyweight Champion…and then in a blink of an eye…it was taken from me…and instead of fighting in the Main Event…I was dropped down to the mid card…one of the less interesting matches that people tune in to watch. Ryan Lewis: You’re beginning to sound like a spoiled brat. Cage Stryker: That’s what you get for interrupting me. Yes, I was pissed…I was furious…but, when I stepped out onto the stage and heard the fans chanting my name…I calmed myself down. This was just another match…another chance to showcase my skill and prowess. So yeah, I went into that match and fought it like the white knight…the hero. And I fought accordingly. Then…as the match was coming nearer to a close…a wave of memories flooded my mind. All the backstage assault I have received. All the betrayals I have had to suffer. All the insults that people I thought were friends of mine threw at me. And it all came to a head and the white knight…became the black knight. I was still the hero…but instead of the good little boy scout…I had to become that which I detest…and give unto them exactly as they give unto me. So I instead went into my dark place…and sent a message out to Alan…but I guess it didn’t set too well with BA…which is fine…cause now, I’m to the point that I just don’t give a flying f**k what they think about me. Either way I’d rather look to this weekend than dwell on that guy. Ryan Lewis: Alright then, let me ask you a couple of things about your opponent, Mortius …. Cage Stryker: First, let me ask you about him, you hang around with that Disasterpiece quite a bit, don’t you? Ryan Lewis: I do my fair share of interviews with them, yes. Why? Cage Stryker: What you think about them? You see them on a weekly basis, almost nobody in the CzW knows them better than you. Ryan Lewis: Well, they are winners, that’s for sure. They’ve got the titles to show for it, the best singles wrestler in the company, and the best tag team. Their alliance is a little weird though. Cage Stryker: What do you mean? Ryan Lewis: For the most part, it’s very difficult to find guys like BB and Mortius. You got the modern day Ron Jeremy…and Mortius…well…he’s the dark demented type. Cage Stryker: Dark demented…those types are a dime a dozen. Everyone is dark and demented these days if you want to get technical…but some people seem to think it gains them fear and respect…two things that Mortius seems to thrive on. Unfortunately this week, he’s gonna be hungry…I do not fear…nor respect anyone who so calmly tries to belittle me…or poke fun at me…or be pissed off at me for whatever bullshit he’s saying now. He’s trying to break my spirit by trying to again spit on my good name. I didn’t have a choice at Reunited We Stand…every man that was in that match with me…I had no choice over…but did that stop me from still going in there and defeat them all. I won that match…plain and simple…then the viper struck with his case…and now I stand without the gold. That didn’t break my spirit…why do you think you can? Brian Blaze…well…unfortunately…no, I do not know where out coalition stands…were the Hollywood Knights for real…or were they just a two night stand? Perhaps you should let him speak for himself though. You say he chose the better partner…you say he was only using me. Well, you know what, I take no credit for his rise of glory…he done that all himself…and…he did it without you. You abandoned him when things didn’t seem to be going your way…but I was more than glad to offer a helping hand…and thus the Hollywood Knights were born. Will they live on…I guess only time will tell…but when that time does…I want to hear it out of Sleazy Entertainment’s own mouth and not his overgrown zombie. Ryan Lewis: What about some of the insight he provided to us about his past? After you have been revealing yourself he did the same, what do you think about his background? And his reading of the Book of Shadows to you. Cage Stryker: Everyone’s past shows who they really our. It’s the story of our lives. It’s easy to see why he is where he is because of where he came from. While I can be proud and tell my story, Mortius shouldn’t. I thank you for your “Behind the Bible” look at your life, but it isn’t something you should even be bringing up. A laundry list of assault and murder is nothing to be proud of, and adding to that list is a book that just magically appeared before you…and talked to you. You have every opportunity in your life to turn it around, but you take the easy path, you choose not to. It’s cowardly, and weak. If those are the things that you accept you are, that’s fine. Just please, please don’t go around saying that I don’t impress you. Because I know that I do. It’s impossible for you not to be jealous of my success and envious of who I am. Now, I could go a waste 15 minutes of your lives by reading shit out of the Bible…the Koran…the New Testament…all that…but I have respect for people. Why should I sit here and read a bunch of prayers to people? Why should I honestly fill up this interview with a bunch of bullshit that has absolutely nothing to do with you…or I…or this match we have coming up? Simple…I’m not going too. Ryan Lewis: He did compare himself to the weapon of the boy or whatever? I mean…he had a pretty good thing goin as he read that. What do you think of his logic? Cage Stryker: I guess I couldn’t expect too much better from a dark demented…trash poetry buffoon like him. Maybe he is right. Maybe he is so numb, so stupid; he don’t understand how dumb he actually looks and sounds. Well, you know, Ryan, I’m not the most religious man that ever lived, you know this. But they say that in times of desperation, even a man like me will pray, and praying is exactly what I have been doing, in regards to this match with Mortius at Overdrive. No, not praying for victory, no, no. Rather, I have been praying that something would excite me. That Mortius would finally light that spark within me. But, it seems that I expected far, far too much from Mortius. All his hype, I was expecting something new…something exciting…but no, instead he wastes my time with this book of Shadow nonsense. I’m not arrogant…nor do I give a f**k who Jesse is. He may have planned this match to punish me…to harm me…but I’ve been through far worse here in the CzW. And you…you were the best Jesse could throw at me. He’s not my master…and I didn’t try to go over his head…I just asked for a match to try and prove that I am who I say I am. And quite frankly, it will be a pleasure to dispose of you, like the worthless imbecile that you truly are this Monday on Overdrive. You think you have the advantage, Mortius, but you don’t. Pain is the cleanser, Mortius. And come Overdrive, you shall be cleansed, you shall fall to the almighty wrath of ME, and there is simply nothing you can do about it. And Jesse…I know he’s probably got some sort of underhanded scheme plotted against me in this match…and hell, when I overcome the odds once more…he may not even count my victory. It’s okay though…as long as my point is made. You live in your world of fantasy and horror, Mortius, rest assured that is all that you bring to the table, fantasy. You bring your hopes, and you bring your dreams, and for what? To be left a broken man, at the hands of Cage Stryker. Bring everything you got…and see where it lands you. Ryan Lewis: I’m sure that won’t be taken the right way. As ragged as I describe them, and as rough around the edges as they are, they are very passionate about winning. Cage Stryker: And I’m not? Just because you give the appearance to have nothing else in your life but wrestling, doesn’t make you any more worthy to win a match. I’ve spread myself thin my entire life with different things I was doing, but it never meant I was more interested in one thing than the other. It just meant I was talented enough to conquer that many different things. The only things Mortius has been able to conquer has been wrestling and how to read. Not very impressive in my opinion. You have allowed your weaknesses to be abused, took advantage of… dissected and exploited… You try to play the mind games…the spirit breaks…only to fail once again. I’m not afraid of the Harbinger. I watch on through my own hot-blooded haze… through the insanity and see you flounder… may I say that Mortius…… I have rarely felt so DISGUSTED…. And never so … DISAPPOINTED….. as I have on this day…listening to your garble. You’ve grown diluted. Like the piss-water, you’ve grown to be but a trace of the strong firery brew you once were. Reduced to a mere shell, a mockery, an effigy of something once great, but you think you are a man capable of beating ME. You’ve turned yourself into the tiny plastic figures this company produces….. the glory of our capitalistic nature…. You’re naught but a tiny doll who’s back holds a button to be pressed, spewing out regurgitated catchphrases like a used car salesman…. I‘m gonna break your spirit…I‘m the Harbinger…YOUR NEXT…all that shit. You’re a stagnant and tired old man yourself now Mortius…. How sad it must feel for you to have become old hat within a single year of becoming famous. Your bright flame of potential has burned down to a tiny ember… and Monday Mortius, I snuff… it… out. Ryan Lewis: Well you mention he has been able to conquer wrestling, and despite everything else that is what you are going to be going up against him in this weekend, a wrestling match. He has much more experience than you in the ring, and also he has his back covered by some of the biggest names in the CzW. What do you expect to happen on Sunday? Cage Stryker: Victory, that’s what I expect. Obviously, not very good investigative reporting there Ryan. I expect Mortius to FINALLY… know my true pain. He shall finally feel what I always feel… and the world at large, myself included shall breathe in deep and exhale all the cobwebs, pain and sloth gathered in the last couple of months, because we, Mortius will be free as well! Free of you and fools like you who cast this bannerette as a symbol of the old guard! Finally the young! The fresh blooded! The pure shall inherent the power… I am liberator Mortius… I am a freedom fighter… I am the bloody Christ reborn…. … and I shall stand as the NEW order of power in the world, the lord of all I survey and as the new age is uttered in.. the era of High Definition Entertainment… we once again breathe easy…. I AM THE REVOLUTION…. I am change…. I am your end and the new beginning in one. And I’m coming to take… you …. Down….. Ryan Lewis: Well I…. Cage Stryker:[Interrupting] This is a simple one Ryan, you should be able to wrap your head around it. Anytime somebody enters a new environment, they aren’t appreciated. They are over looked and just a passing thought. While Mortius says he isn’t going to over look me and knows who I am, where did he learn about me? In between swigs of whiskey and watching television programs about me in from a Radio Shack window? Has he been using publications of the Wall Street Journal as pillows, and reading them in his share time? I doubt it. Being under estimated has happened to me numerous times in whatever career I’m in. People question whether or not I can successful make the transition from one business to the next, and all I’ve done is prove that I can. The bad part for Mortius , this is my first real shot at anything that this company deems somewhat meaningful, a chance to put one to the President…and at the same time, I get to unleash all my hell and turmoil upon you Mortius…while locked…ironically…in a Cage match. And while it’s not even close to an accomplishment in my book, it will demonstrate that I’m not here just to mess around. Ryan Lewis: Alright fans, we’ve got one more part left of our exclusive sit down talk with “The High Definition” Cage Stryker, which will be available right after this. ------------------------- Karma is something for people to believe to give them false hope they will get redemption without actually having to do something. If you want something, you have to do it. It’s not just going to fall into your laps. -Stryker 1.4 I was sitting down, trying to do my inner-monologue in regard to Mortius , seeing what else I can bring to light about him. I’ve already discussed his trash poetry. I’ve gone in depth about his true laziness and inability to form anything that resembles a some what normal life, but he is doomed. The more I think about it… He’s doomed. Not only as a human being, but as a professional wrestler, which is the only thing that seems important to him. This Monday he will no longer be a threat So Mortius, you’ve had a good run, you really have. You’ve done all you can to get the fans to feel sorry for you they almost like you. Almost. But your self-deprecation is only going to get you so far. You talk that you wrestle people on your level, and I wrestle people on mine. Obviously, you don’t understand my talent. And you overrate yours. This Monday, I will beat you. There is no question about that. Then maybe you could go ahead and get the f**k out of CzW Really, I’ve wasted enough time of my time on you. I’ll meet you in the ring on Monday. ------------------------- Ryan Lewis: We have been sitting here with Cage Stryker, former CzW Heavyweight Champion. We have dealt with your past, your current status, now what about the future? What does the future hold for you? Cage Stryker: The immediate future is beating Mortius , and then it will all be about regaining my lost belt. You have to defend it every week, against every type of bottom feeder in the company. The competition is not going to be difficult, but it’ll be the motivation. After my eighth, ninth, tenth title defense and showing that I am even above this level of competition I will have to move on. But you have to put one foot in front of the other, so that’s not what I’m worried about right now. This Monday is all I’m concerned with. When I once again show the world exactly who I am. You will know it’s me coming, when you hear the fans chanting my name. Ryan Lewis: On another note, I have been wondering…. Cage Stryker:[Interrupting] Ya know what Ryan, I think I’ve been here a little bit too long this week. I really don’t have time to waste with you anymore; I’ve got to go get some things accomplished. Ryan Lewis: Ok, well… Cage Stryker: Yeah, I’ll catch you later. With that, “The High Definition” takes the microphone off his suit jacket and takes off, to the bewilderment of Mr. Lewis. |
