The video starts looking out on a serene field with trees in the distance. The sky is clear and there seems to be almost no wind. There is some snow on the ground and melting snow has made the ground obviously moist, but there is no snow coverage to speak of, just patches that haven’t fully melted yet. The camera pans to the right, and after a moment a very old style cannon comes into view, the muzzle pointed out toward the field. The camera stops panning as it focuses on Caleb Walker. He still wears his almost trademark sunglasses and chain mail headress, but he is wearing a light jacket and heavy dark blue jeans. He looks out over the field.

Caleb: “Shooting at the walls of heartache, Bang Bang...I am the warrior.”

He looks at the camera.

Caleb: “Surprised I know an old song like that? I suppose that is to be expected. Its not like I’ve ever really revealed much about my past or my personal life to the audience of Combat Zone Wrestling.

“This is Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Every American knows the significance of this place, but pathetically, few really know the details. It was a war of ideals, far more than most people realize. Contrary to popular belief, the war wasn’t all about slavery even though that played a part. But I’m not here to go into the political or financial reasons that help lead to war within the United States.”

“Do you realize that over 51,000 people died here, most of them soldiers for one side or the other?”

Caleb looks back out in the field, his face a stoic, unreadable mask.

“51,000. That’s more than half the current population of places like Allentown, PA and Ventura City, California. Try to wrap yourself around that figure. Imagine half the population of a good sized city lying dead in a field where the grass is slick with human blood. Nothing like that has been seen on American soil since then.

They were warriors.”

As the camera lingers on this scene, Caleb steps into the shot.

“This is a view that you don’t normally see, and I’m sure many watching this won’t recognize where we are from this angle. I am at the Flavian Amphitheater, commonly known as the Roman Colosseum, looking at the famous place from the inside. Here is another battlefield of great significance. It is not known how many may have died in battle here but when it was whole, it could seat 50,000 spectators! Truly awe inspiring and amazing for a structure that has stood less than 100 years after Jesus was crucified. Contests were then held in this place for over 400 years! Gladiatorial games, wild animal hunts, various plays and dramas, and re-enactments of famous battles were staged here. They would even flood the floor and perform sea battles. Of course, it is the Gladiatorial combat that everyone remembers. Battles to the death between men who maybe chose to be there but that most were forced to do. Not as noble or magnificent, but there were men who became celebrities and made fortunes at the games, eventually becoming free and living the remainder of their lives in relative luxury. Of course, I’m sure most of the Gladiators did not come to such a glorious end. I’m sure the finish to their career came quickly and painfully.

Still, they were warriors.”

The scene changes again.

Caleb again steps into view.

“The MGM Grand Plaza Hotel and Casino. I’m sure you are wondering what in God’s green Earth could this have to do with warfare, with battles, with great contests and challenges. Some of you know, though. Some of you are fans of one of the longest running current combat sports. This place behind me has hosted many, many championship boxing matches and may have hosted more big match Pay Per Views than any other location. It hosted many of ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson’s World Heavyweight Championship matches. Now, I’m not going to even suggest that most of his matches were great contests or hard-fought victories. Hell, most of his ‘fights’ lasted less than one round. But he graces the other end of the combat spectrum. Like him or hate him, call him a great fighter or a criminal thug, he was one of the best and put himself and his health on the line for the thrill of the fight! You must always remember, the big money and fame comes only when you reach the top and most boxers do not make it that far. You have to have a love of the game to fight enough matches to even rate a title shot.

They are warriors.”

One last change. This time we are in a Combat Zone Wrestling ring in some arena, either before or after the show. The lighting is low, but Caleb is standing in the middle of the ring in his ring gear with a spotlight shining down from above and just behind, lighting his top surfaces but leaving the lower parts of him, including his face, bathed in shadows.

“Another battleground, another place of conflict and competition. Combat Zone Wrestling, my on-again, off-again home for the last two years. I can’t say that I’ve made good use of the opportunities I’ve been given. A few months ago, I was required to jump through more hoops, run more laps, than even a rookie newcomer would have too, and I can not blame the CZW higher ups in setting those requirements. At this point, I think I have proven myself, and now I have another opportunity, one I do not wish to squander.

On CZW Overdrive, I have the chance of competing in an 8 man battle royal, the winner of which will receive an Intercontinental Championship match at Road To Glory against the current Champ, Maynard O’Toole. The list of the participants of the Royal is impressive. El Pablo and Krimson Blaze, two men who were just days ago were teamed with each other going for the tag team championship and now have to face each other for another prize. There is Godzilla Sawyer and Mike King, two men who I believe are gravely overestimated and whose successes are a combination of luck and weak opposition. Brian Kirkland, who has shown a tremendous amount of growth and reasoning with reclaiming the Ultraviolent title and choosing a powerful stable like Beautiful Agony over sentimentality and old, tired friendships. There is Frank Finch, a man of whom I deeply respect and, while I will be trying to win in this match, I will at the same time enjoy the artistry he exemplifies in the ring. There is a seventh slot which will see either Rob Wright or Johnny Kerosene gain the shot. Wright has a Money in the Bank briefcase, so I’m hoping that it is Johnny that makes it. But he has to prove he is ready by pinning The Real Deal’s shoulders down. For most, the prospect of a match like this would be intimidating, a concern. Just remember that, historically speaking, battle royals favor the big men, and no one in this match is bigger than I am. Against Absolute Power, do any of these...small beings really stand a chance?

Before I can enter that match, though, I am starting with another big event, the three-way Grudge Match between myself, Kimo Newton, and The Zodiac Thrilla. The winner of this match gets the last spot in the battle royal. Both of these men profess of a toughness they learned on their respective ‘streets’. Now, it sounds terribly funny for Mr. Newton, who not too long ago left me a nice souvenir of the night I beat Chris Ross’ ass (Caleb lifts and admires a knife that had been left pinning a message to his door that night), to talk about his hard life on the street in Hawaii, but I’m not one to completely doubt what he says. ANY place that is large enough will have a dark underbelly where the rabble dwell and the predators of humanity hunt their prey. Both of these men are indeed tough, probably having to fight since they were young. The problem is, there is a big difference in fighting for your survival because it is the environment you live in...and fighting because you want to. My parents weren’t rich, and I lacked for many things I wanted, but I didn’t have to fight and scratch for everything. When I fought as a teenager, I fought because I was strong enough to exert my will over others. When I decided to try boxing, it was my choice because I loved the feeling, the rush, of having defeated someone in battle. When I realized I just wasn’t fast enough, wasn’t good enough for boxing, I tried wrestling...and found something I was truly good at, something I loved.

The point is, I’m am here now by choice alone. I became tough because I wanted to, not because I needed too. Surviving a tough life is indeed a noble goal, but Kimo and Zodiac, you should not believe that surviving a tough life make you a true warrior. That takes a certain mindset that I do not believe either of you have. Newton, you want vengeance for your friend. You want to beat me for what I did, take a pound of flesh for the crimes I have committed...but that does not give you the proper motivation to win a championship in wrestling. If you want revenge, we can take care of business after the show out behind the arena, but when you get in the ring on Overdrive, you are walking on to my battlefield, and all of the sparring with Ross and all of the footage you’ve probably watched can’t prepare you for the contest which is to come. And that doesn’t even take into account that I am twice your size in a game that always favors the large and the strong. You should sit this one out, little man, or you may find yourself in the bed next to Ross nursing your own injuries and wondering what kind of work you can do in your new condition.

Zodiac Thrilla, you also want some vengeance. I took over your moment at Re-United We Stand as my own and laid you low. I know that made you angry but I’m not sure I can take credit for your return to CZW rings. To return when you did, you would have to have been working yourself back into shape long before Re-United We Stand, so I must believe you had already chosen that road. I just gave you a proper re-introduction, a banner under which your great return could be made under. But I must wonder, are you really at 100%. You are certainly looking spectacular, but here you are getting your third chance at a title or title shot. Your record, so far, really does not indicate that you are ready for this, that you can hang the way you used to. Or maybe it is because many of those you have been wrestling are battle hardened while you are still getting used to the activity all over again. It was a year and a half since your last match. Your body does not remember the aches and pains after that amount of time. You, too, should just sit this week out, let me take that spot in the Battle Royal. To be perfectly honest, out of the three of us, I’m the only one that really has a chance at winning that match.”

Caleb pumps himself up, also backing up a little to wash away the shadows. He is not flexing but he is hardening his muscles, as if he is about to explode.

“On CZW Overdrive, I have not one contest, but two, and if I reach the second match, I will be at a disadvantage since six of the other competitors will be fresh and full of energy. To me, though, facing my opponents and possibly my own fatigue and injuries from the first match is just another challenge to be surmounted, another hill to climb, another foe to beat. My body is finally clean of the things I had put into it. My mind is finally truly focused on my goals, and my goals are finally attainable. (Shouting and raising his fists above his head) I AM CALEB WALKER! I AM THE GOD OF WAR!! I AM ABSOLUTE POWER!

Caleb drops his fists and moves slightly forward, his face again falling into shadow even as the camera moves in for a close up of his intense, determined face.

Caleb, speaking low and gutteral: “I am a warrior.”
