Stay Down
|
The still of night known as an empty feed cloaked the entire screen in darkness. For some reason, though completely optical, the rolling darkness seemed to pull our very soul out from their fleshy traps. With the shadows behind the glass, the only view is our own eyes, looking back in disappointment at the poor excuses of men and women the CZW viewers turned out to be. As one's soul would soon perish, the grip was let loose by a barrage of wild static! White noise rushed through one ear and out the other, rendering the mind useless but giving their owner's a jolt needed to break the hypnosis. At the point when the static would usually end, it continued, only to distance itself from the camera, or so we thought. The camera indeed was zooming out, now bringing the realization that the static was not from our own screen, but a television laying on the ground of a darkened room. The light from the screen streamed out into the room, brightening a small section around it. The white noise continued, but was accompanied by another buzzing sound. The buzz became louder, and the sound of something shredding, cutting was heard. As the camera made a full right pan, now taking into view the dweller of the shadows, and the source of the additional buzz. The silhouette of a man kneeling in front of a desk, only visible thanks to the various lit candles resting upon it. The man's hands held tight on top of his head, pushing back in a forceful motion and dragging across his scalp. He pulled, his right hand leaving with out force. In his hand was the reason for the the dragging. Hair, long locks of it dangled down from the gripped fist, falling like the gentle snow when let go. Both arms fell to the man's sides as the buzzing sound ceased. The man let the hair shaver go, gripping another object which was indentified as the television remote, plunging the television and the corner in which it sat into darkness. The man slowly rose to one knee, and then the other, rising up like the dead from their graves to live once again. He leaned into the desk, placing his hands on it and gripping tightly to boths sides, blowing out each candle one by one, bringing the room closer and closer to utter darkness, until the final candle remained. He reached down, picking the candle up in his right hand, gazing at the dancing flame. He brought it to his face, his head turned away from the camera to avoid his face being seen. The candle revealed the damage he self-inflicted. Crimson streaks rolled down the back of his head, showing where the razor dug slightly too deep. As he brought the candle higher, the man's sleeves of various tattoos showed themselves and hid again under the darkness. A deep sigh was heard, before exhaling, taking out the last source of light in the room, plunging the room once again into shade. Then the buzzing began again. The shadows escaped the screen by crawling off from the sides, as if smoke from a glass sheet. The new stage was set as a tattoo parlor. Various mirrors covered the walls to show the receivers of the artwork their chosen pieces. A row of five red leather chairs spanned the mirrors, black seats set next to them for the artisans employeed at the shop to sit comfortable while they create. Most of the chairs remained empty. From the large window in the front of the store we could see that the sun was just barely up form behind the horizon, signifying the time being very early. As the camera once again panned right, two life forms presented themselves. The first, the trained employee. He was a near portly man, about three-hundred to three-hundred and fifty pounds. A black goatee covered his lips complimenting the black fitted baseball cap he wore backwards on his head. His eyes narrowed as he worked, the proof of his devotion tot he craft on display on his arms, hands, and neck, from skulls and demons to eight balls and hands of spades. His rounded mid-section was clothed with a black Lamb of God band t-shirt, going well with the metal vibe the store had as "Two Weeks" by All that Remains blared though the single room. The second figure was the recipient of the painful art. He sat shirtless, very muscled for a man his size, indicating that he was either very active in his daily life, or a professional athelete. His lower body was clothed by a pair of long cargo shorts depicting the American Woodland camoflauge. Black patches were sewn into the shorts, reading off sayings of "DRUG FREE YOUTH", band names like "HAVE HEART" and "xAFBx", and words of encouragement to those who read them and lived as they asked like "Stay true" and "Silence is Consent." The man's arms, heavily tattooed to indicate that he was indeed the man wore almost ritualistically shaved his head in the beginning of the video, were held out, his hands balled into fists to give the man he had paid to create an image a canvas. The tattooist drew one last line, turning off his machine. "There comes a time in every man's life that he falls astray from what he truly is, what he was born to be. There comes a time where, despite how against something we are, we all conform and become the beast we set out to slay. I know this better than anyone....." The man's voice spoke over the chaos in the air, reminding us of a man who has been climbing the ladder, so to speak, in Combat Zone wrestling for over a year now, Ryan Shane, but unlike the peppy, arrogant tone that associated "The Cult of Personality", a fear swept over the viewer. This was like taking a trip back a year ago, to a time where CZW first undertook a curse. Ryan's voice sounded out with the vibes of determination, self-respect, and of course, anger. "I 'sold out' for lack of a better term to make people happy. My higher-up Brian Kirkland thought his faction Youthful Aggression could use a more colorful aspect to draw some fans to his cause. Even if he thought they thought he was the face of evil, there's always some draw of affection Kirkland needed to feel like he was a hero. Like he was the friend and savior of the people, not their enemy." Ryan stood up from the chair, the reason his shirt was off revealed as he turned. The space under his neck had also been inked in the form of the french Fleur de Lis in black, still fresh and covered up by a plastic and tape to avoid the contact of plasma on the outside and infection. His face was still turned from the camera, hiding the speaker from full-view. He walked across the room, picking up his shirt from the counter. "I pranced around like a fool in the very suit I swore to destroy, telling jokes that weren't funny in speaking in the language of the weak. MY very last possession, my pride, had been taken from me. I kneeled to my master, told to run to the end of my chain and bark for the amusment of the others." There was a long silence before Ryan continued his speech, a quiet laugh from a sigh right before. "But there's a lesson to be learned here. An angry dog is only entertaining as long as he remains chained to the post. What happens when the savage wolf breaks the chain? He lunges for your neck and rips your throat out. CZW, I have broken the chain. My mind is my own again, not to someone who has no idea of what they fight for in the first place. That's right, Kirkland has no idea what he's talking about. He's not Straight Edge, he's a scene kid with a temper. I used to beat up kids like Kirkland for insulting my lifestyle by saying they live it. He doens't know Minor Threat, he doesn't know the roots, he's just sober. Just.....sober. Hehehehe.....why can't we just be sober? I'll tell you why, because life sucks. The good die young and groveling worms like Brian Kirkland live forever. There's a difference between being sober and being Straight Edge. Sober people are too weak to take action. They cower in corners and wait the storm out. Edgers, we face the storm head on and don't budge, not one step, because that is a sign of weakness..............I refuse to tolerate weakness." Ryan sat down on a bench by the front of the store. It was covered by red velvet, comfrotable enough for a king to sit upon. He leaned forward, his elbows on his knees, his hands falling down just enough to hide the tattoos he had done, his head lowered to avoid eye contact with the viewers. "I simply refuse. This is why I refuse to dance anymore. I refuse to put up with weaklings trying to herd the mighty. I refuse to watch those with tainted blood take the honor that I only deserve. I refuse to fly the Youthful Aggression banner anymore. I refuse..................I refuse Brian Kirkland's lies! You know nothing of the lifestyle I love so dearly! Your followers know nothing because they were taught by false prophets! Last week was all the proof I needed. It may have been Shaw that took the pin, but it was Kirkland's fault. He bred the weak because he is weak, and this week, he will be terminated. Brian, pray to whatever god you seem to believe is your Father that you lose to Eddie Rowan this week, because if you somehow survive Damage Control, you'll be buried by my wrath. The dog is off of it's leash, CZW, and the hunt...........is back on. You've been warned." The body of Ryan nodded a few times as the sides of the screen began to distort and reduce to static. The now clean-shaven head of Shane slowly brought his head up, the distortion growing heavier and heavier, reducing to complete static as Ryan's face was about to be seen. The static raged for just a few more seconds before it cleared off, bringing forth the second half of the video. The new scene was that of an arena, very similar to the video of a furry pink wrestler who would clash with Ryan Shane on the next edition of Overdrive. Just as stated, a wrestling ring was set up in the center, but unlike the blank slate El Pablo stood in, the CZW logo plastered the sqiared circle. the hollow arena seemed almost dead, void of life, until a single voice spoke out and shattered the silence. "The time has come.........." The voice of Ryan Shane trailed off, but not from within the ring. No, the voice echoed through the arena from the very bleachers that surrounded the ring. The camera panned to the left, rising up to higher grounds to catch a single form sitting in a sea of blue plastic stationary folding chairs. The camera began to zoom in as Ryan's shape became clearer and clearer. He wore a black t-shirt with the logo of the band "Have Heart", as well as the camoflauge shorts he wore previously. Ryan kicked his feet up on the chair infront of him, getting into a more comfortable position. "The time has come for the sleeper cell known as Ryan Shane to wake up and complete his mission. Nine months...............nine months I had to sit back and bide my tongue, blind myself to the truth and convince myself it was worth it, but in the end my mission phase one has been completed, and now.......hahaha, now I don't need you anymore! I don't need you Kirkland, King, Havok, AXEL! You all played your parts very well, and lucky for me, the plan went through without a hitch. You all watched as it happened too, that's the humorous part. Confused? Allow me to explain..." Ryan's eyes, covered by a pair of aviator sunglasses, looked deep into the lens of the camera placed directly infront of him, though he was a ways away, the camera far enough back to catch the surrounding chairs, four deep in every direction around him. "I came in as just another face in the crowd, hidden behind a hood at the request of Mike King and Brian Kirkland, there to help their pay back movement become victorious. I claimed myself the Shock Trooper of Youthful Aggression, meaning that I was exactly what everyone said and knew I was, the deadliest member of YA. Dwayne Campbell, Kimo Newton, Cage stryker, Eddie Rowan, the list went on and on! It seemed that this relative nobody in the world of wrestling, at least on the level of World Class that CZW was on was concerned, destroying your fan favorites and heroes, fueled by the words of Brian Kirkland!" Ryan began to laugh out loud, bringing his right hand up to rub the goatee that had started to form back on his face. His hands were exactly how they were remembered, but this time, the tattoos were real. From the angle, the letters on his knuckles could not be identified, but the bold black X's on the back of his hands were in full-view. "But then the switch got flipped. Kirkland began to grow out that stupid beard, preaching like he was some kind of prophet to the masses, claiming he could 'save' them by his own means. He goes out and buys an old abandoned warehouse and names it "The Factory." This........this is where the trigger was pulled. Kirkland starts brainwashing, no I'm sorry, "teaching" others to love the Straight Edge lifestyle, massing a following to worship him! He takes control of CZW employees, fans, drug abusers, innocent families, and claims that he is the savior of the Straight Edge movement." Ryan removed his boots from the back of the chair infront of his, stomping on the ground as he leaned forward, gripping the chair instead with his hands. "That's how you know he's a poser! I've been saying it forver, Straight Edge is a self revolution! I don't fight to force you into my lifestyle, I fight to force you to open your eyes to the truth so you can see what is truly right! You can't make somebody Edge, you can only make them see that Straight Edge is the superior lifestyle, and that is how I've constantly out smarted you, Kirkland! Mistake number one: Letting me into your organization knowing full well that I possess a militaristic mentality! Mistake number two: When putting your "brainwashing" system into action, placing one of MY people in charge! Mistake number three!: Believing that my wearing of those stupid suits and playing those ridiculous video games was proof that I had caved to your will! What's the matter? Still confused? Are you not able to comprehend what I'm saying?" The doors behind Ryan opened up, as down the stairs on both sides of the chairs he sat in descended what could only be identified as a calmed mob of masked idividuals. They all varied in sizes and genders, cloaked in black hoodys, torns jeans, and black bandanas around their faces. Leading the people on the right side, Ryan's faithful girlfriend Selena Abercrombie, wearing very similar clothing as the rest, minus the bandana. On the left side, a face not seen in months on CZW, Ryan's sister Mary! The two ladies walked down, making their way to Ryan's side as the rest of the masked people filled out the seats around them. Ryan held out his arms, as if ordering the viewers to gaze upon his work. "THIS is my masterpiece! THIS is my completed mission, Kirkland! I've warned you since the beginning, and this is my true Cult of Personality! How can you have a cult with just one person? I've been planning this since day one, and now it is time for my unveiling!" The masked individuals reached up to their heads, removing their masks and hoods to show their full faces. While unknown at first, the CZW fan base came to a realization. These were factory members! These were the men and women Brian Kirkland had brainwashed into becomming his followers! Ryan had taken Kirklands follows to his own cause! "It's amazing how well they all acted, and friends, I do applaud you. "Yes Brian, you are our savior." HAHAHAHA!While you thought they were being taught to obey you, in reality, I trained them as my army! I showed these people the light in my way, with out using rechniques or lies, but rather showing them the real Straight Edge lifestyle, and showing them that they could be better! Look around, my results don't lie! My methods work, and I am far from done! I see great potential amongst the CZW Nation, not in living the Straight Edge lifestyle, but just bettering themselves, and getting what they deserve! This is my mission now, starting with myself! I've been held down by outside forces for too long! I lose my X-Division Championship not on my terms, I lose my first match by outside forces, I lose every other loss because of a weak partner or others! Now I see that Sam Attic gets his rematch for the X-Division title, but I never got mine?!?! Bullshit!" Ryan yelled out, triggering a cheer among his fellow sXe follows, as well as a smirk and a now from Selena. "What do I have to do, Baines?!?! It's obvious you don't have my best interests in mind,a nd that is why I'm going higher than you! Derek Damage, hear my words! I love the concept you've created! Damage Control is the same as my mentality, only the strong survive, and this is why I want you to watch this match! I want you to see what I do to YOUR X-Division Champion and realize Ryan Shane is the best of the best! you haven't put me in a Damage Control match because you know that I will rip through whoever you place infront of me!" Ryan's fury exploded through his lips, his face turning slightly red before it slowly slipped away, being replaced with the signature Ryan Shane smirk, a chuckle leaving his lips once again. "El Pablo........oh how I'm looking forward to this match! Pabs, you're exactly the kind of guy I'm talking about. Look at yourself, you've got it all, right? You've got millions of fans world wide! You've got cash flowing in from those constant merchandise sales! El Pablos the T-shirt! El Pablo the Lunch Box! El Pablo the Flamethrower! You've got an attractive Girlfriend........I think, that mask throws me off! Now why should I have any reason to think you're getting the shaft in CZW? Well think about it! You're no longer a pro-wrestler, you're a character! Kids don't want to be El Pablo when they grow up, they want to be El Pablo for Halloween! You may think you have everything you're owed, but that one run as World Champion is beneath you! That X-Divison title is beneath you! That is why you're the prime target for my ascendance to the top of CZW! Yes, Ryan Shane is no longer satisfied with the mid-card, with the commoners! I deserve to sit atop the mountain that is the Combat zone!" He leaned back again in his chair, his emotional outburst soothed. "Just like you said, it all starts with you. Here in this very arena. Pablo, while you took a trip to the past, I've come here, to the future. To the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia. Right here, in that very ring, it all ends for you and begins again for me. Forget Damage control, Pablo, because you won't make it to your title defense. You already mentioned it, I owe you one for wrongs done for me, but not by the bite of my Railroad Spike. No, I'm leaving the spike with Selena this time. I'm going to use my best weapons, my own....two......hands. I'm on a new mission, and I refuse to let you end it before it begins. These people, they didn't need a savior, and neither do the rest of the poisoned idiots that cheer for you! They need a destroyer!" Ryan rose up from his chair, standing among his people, a sea of black, blue, and camoflauge. He looked around, obviously satisfied witht he work he had done. "Pablo, I'll face your "Experience" head on, because it has no effect on me! Hit me with everything you've got, I'll still stand victorious over you, because if Kirkland was a prophet, I AM A GOD, and I am a vengeful god! I warn you, Pabs, bring an army to Overdrive.........because I am. We will not be denied! We will not be stopped! Do you know why? Because we are one unit! We're a family! We're Straight Edge.......and we're better than you! Pablo our personal destinies have been determined. I'll walk out of our match with a victory and on my own two feet. You, well, you'll........." Ryan rose his hands up, gripping them into powerful fists, and pressing his hands together. The letters individually tattooed on his knuckles came together, spelling out the words "Stay Down." "STAY........THE FUCK..........DOWN!" Just like before, the area around the screen began to distort as the follows of the sXe lifestyle around Ryan rose tot heir feet, placing all of their arms across their chests into the Straight Edge X, Ryan slowly doing the same. A roar rose fomr them, like a battle cry, before the camera completely lost the battle to the static, then slowly fading back to black. Edited by xShanex, Sep 26 2010, 03:51 AM.
