How Do You Earn Your Money?

VIVA LA RAINBOWLUTION!!!

This was the inspiration behind my idea for this sub-forum; basically, what kind of income streams does your character have? Obviously, we all have our wrestling contracts, but does your character have any other business interests outside the ring?

As far as EP is concerned, he has contracts with both CZW and SCW - the former is on a "per appearance" basis, while the latter provides a regular income (though obviously, currently, at a reduced rate due to his not being active). He also receives a cut on all merchandise sold by both companies which, corporate shill that he is, provides a substantial amount of money on top. There's also a sponsorship deal with #BRUTAL Apparel, a company founded, owned and run by fellow SCW superstar Rex Evans.

Away from the ring, EP's sponsorship deal with Skittles is well documented; he also owns the rights to the myriad of related foods and drinks he's created (in many cases due to Skittles' reluctance to be associated with them).

EP also receives royalties from the two films he's appeared in - "Over the Rainbow" (with Steven Seagal) and the soon-to-be-released "Sharkcano" - as well as his self-branded, cross-platform video game.

Finally, he has a stake in his family's Mazmorra Volando franchise of wrestling schools.

OH! And the "El Pablo Wheel of Guest Stars" App...although that hasn't really taken off as much as he'd hoped, due to the rather niche nature of the product, so probably shouldn't be counted.

Over to you!

Mortius earns his money through wrestling, but what most will not know is during his 2009 hiatus he got an office job, and was brought back to wrestling in Pheonix Wrestling. He worked in fanancials and started making money in the stock market. He likes the facelessness of it, so all his dumb ass insecurities aren't a problem when facing columns and figures. He isn't super rich, but he could retire any time he wanted and never look back

I love how that both seems completely ludicrous and makes perfect sense all at the same time.

Leon got his money originally from Code Red Wrestling. Being a fed around the size of SCW when it closed (CRW had just broken into the EFK "Experts" ring), the paychecks were probably fairly decent without being too ridiculous. As he's not really one for extravagance the incomings were certainly much more than the outgoings, giving Leon an initial stockpile of cash.

It was towards the mid-point of his CRW time that Leon acquired a disused fairground (initially he just broke in and used the space, but over time he was advised to officially purchase it). Originally it was just intended as a playground for filming in, using the eerie setting to put together some haunting videos. However, after his 18-ish month hiatus I thought it'd be fun to have had him take some of his earnings and do the place up in order to explain his absence from wrestling.

Now, The Cursed Wonderground™ is one of the hottest carnival/theme park attractions in New York (its actual location is in the NYC area, as that was CRW's home, but I've not actually narrowed it down beyond that). This naturally provides the main source of Leon's income, and explains why his not having a CZW contract the past few months hasn't been an issue on the financial front.

I definitely need to have EP visit that place next time CZW stops off in New York.

Indeed you do.

Daytime is the "family friendly fairground" (rides and circus-style performers), while at night (or at least during the evening) it turns into a more adult "freakshow carnival" (still the rides, but more extreme things like sword swallowers/fire etc around it). Doubles up the income potential, and covers everyone who might want to attend.

I can imagine EP fitting in well at either format and being a popular sight/distraction...

So at night, it's the kind of place where Indian Larry would have been right at home?

Ryan's swindling with his contracts and inside connections has pretty much set him up for life. When DXM had their lavish moments, there was a good chance he was funding it. Ryan isn't the type to spend money on really anything, so it just happened to build.

Devin works for a highly powerful employer (that is TOTALLY not the Illuminati) and because of that is never lacking in funding. Unlike Ryan, Devin lives in excess and spends copious amounts of money on dumb shit just because it amuses him.

KB might be the daredevil everyone knows and loves, but what made him successful out of the ring was that he went to school on the side to get himself more educated about law, history, and other various things that have interested him.

He used those lessons to go to low-average schools to speak to kids and parents alike about his days growing up and the things he had to do to survive, which in turn made himself become a Public Speaker.

See, that's the kind of thing I'd like to see more of in KB's promos; him going out and conducting these talks, elaborating on specific struggles he had growing up and how he overcame them. Particularly now he's got the big belt, I think that'd really give some extra depth to the character.

For Ace, and this has come up in a few RPs over the years (including my last one), the more regular source of income comes from The King's Court, his wrestling school in hometown Las Vegas. Wrestling is all he's really known, so he hasn't taken the opportunity to get any kind of post-secondary education (At least, I don't think so; I can't remember if it was Ace or another character that I made kinda like me in saying he got some journalism training.)

He also used to have a sort of business partnership with my first character, AC Thunder, which included the wrestling school and any kind of promo work, but Thunder's been out of the business since his brief TFWF run in 2012, so that quietly dissolved.

So it has become clear to me that Xavier is poor as fuck, in the grand scheme of things, he has his contract with the CZW which is enough to feed him and house him but nothing really outside that. I guess he still gets a little money from the CEW for DVD sales maybe, AC hates me so i might get nothing. I swear too much and generally everyone hates me too much for a company to want me as a spokesperson and my father hates me so I'm not getting any of the Volando money anytime soon.
