Interesting that Nicole told Arizona most of what she did during her marriage was to make her ex happy.

4) Arizona and Callie both getting their groove back, in various ways. Arizona realizes that she's actually fun, thanks to some prodding from Geena Davis. And Callie goes out alone to pick up men. Didn't her mother warn her about that?

'The Great Pretender' Everyone's got their secrets—and they all find their way out.
Elsewhere in the hospital, Amelia and Callie are dealing with a patient who “fainted” and fell down a flight of stairs while her boyfriend—her needy, over-affectionate boyfriend—was proposing. She didn’t actually faint though: No, Hilary’s been pretending to faint to avoid listening to her boyfriend, and to, more recently, avoid replying to his marriage proposal. Because that’s a mature and healthy way (did I mention she has to get brain surgery thanks to the fall?) to deal with uncomfortable situations.
You’d expect Hilary would have some life-changing conversation or experience in the hospital that makes her toughen up and tell her boyfriend how she feels. You’d think she’d realize that, oh, yeah, pretending to faint instead of just dealing with life is a pretty inefficient way to live. But, nope. She makes it through surgery and awakens to her boyfriend declaring his love. So she “faints.” Again. Thankfully, this time she’s resting on a hospital bed so there’s no opportunity for injuries—but this is a perfect opportunity to tell the truth, as Callie (who is Team Boyfriend) tries to tell her. Instead, Callie breaks up with him on Hilary’s behalf and gently kicks him out of the hospital room. Part of me thought Hilary wasn’t fake-fainting this time, that she was having some post-surgery reaction, but alas, she wakes up and thanks Callie. Callie deserves a lot more than a whispered “thank you” for that, but whatever, Hilary. While Callie’s doing a cowardly patient’s dirty work, Meredith discovers Curtis isn’t an alcoholic
Extras
• Callie had some fun of her own, too: She went to a bar and asked—well, told—a guy to dance. Get it, Callie. • Herman decides to spend the rest of her days living in the hospital, and Arizona decides to spend a night with her. Not to have sex though, as Herman jokingly clarifies—she just found out that Arizona is a “dirty, dirty girl” (she says this while giggling) so she doesn’t want to lead her protégé on.

TV Recap: Grey's Anatomy - The Great Pretender
Meanwhile, Arizona can't seem to get any privacy at home because Jo doesn't have any bathroom boundaries and walks in naked while Arizona was trying to shower. This will, of course, become a recurring joke throughout the episode, but also the trigger for Arizona and Dr. Nicole's new level of bonding.
At the hospital, Meredith just came back from her Washington trip. When she runs into Pierce at the elevator, some sort of tension pops up, even more so when Meredith doesn't want to give any details about her marital trip. And speaking of getting freaky, Callie seems to really miss having a partner, mostly for sexy times. In fact, she talks a lot about it with Owen, who tells her about how he approaches ladies, leaving Callie with the conclusion that she has no game. Of course, by the end of the episode, she finds her game and surprise, he dances with man.

recap (11.12): Dirty Girl
Rise and shine, Seattle docs. It’s time to grab a cup of coffee, take a shower, see your roommate’s boobs. Well, at least that is Arizona’s morning. Jo calls dibs on the working shower and drops trou right in front of her.
hat morning, Meredith swoops into the hospital, dragging her suitcase behind her. She runs into Maggie who tells her the kids are fine, and eyes her suspiciously. She asks Mer how her weekend was, knowing full well that something is up. Meredith keeps mum about it, even when Callie joins in. Callie, who is completely obsessed with other people having sex.
Once again, Callie can’t seem to stop fixating on one night stands. As Owen tells her how Dr. Herman took over the OR board with fetal surgeries, Callie laments how she used to be great at hooking up, but now, not so much. She’s tired of sitting around in her pajamas, and binge watching Grey’s Anatomy, so she asks his advice as to how to impress the ladies and gents. He tells her to be honest, that’s impressive enough. They also notice that the lounge sofa is missing.
Arizona is late for Dr. Herman’s latest CAT scan, and she rushes in all disheveled-like. She tells Amelia about Jo commandeering the bathroom, and Dr. Herman hears through the mic. She gives Arizona some hell about living with a resident while she should be uber focused. Then she softens and gets a giggle out of teasing a very embarrassed Arizona about the silliness of the situation.
Next in the ER is a young woman named Hillary, who fell down a flight of concrete stairs after her boyfriend proposed to her. Her boyfriend goes on to tell Callie and Jo about the proposal, and how poetic and romantic it was. Hillary starts to wake up, but when the boyfriend promises in tender whispers, never to leave her side, she faints again.
Owen confronts Dr. Herman about taking over the OR board but she’s not looking for a fight. In fact, she’s lounging. On the missing Attending Room couch. She goes on to explain how terrific the couch is. It’s so comfy, and roomy, and would he like to…test it out? Owen is utterly confused and makes that face, you know where he looks like a Golden Retriever who just heard a loud noise but can’t tell where it came from. This amuses Dr. Herman to no end.
Hillary, the fainting girlfriend, is awake but needs surgery to fix a bleed in her brain. She also needs ortho surgery on her knee. According to her boyfriend Todd, she’s fainted a few times in his presence. Hillary admits that she’s been faking the fainting spells in order to shut Todd up. She can’t deal with all his professions of love and lesbian levels of processing. She didn’t know how to reject his proposal, so she faked fainting and ended up in the hospital.
Arizona is trying to talk to Alex about the fact that Jo walks around naked all the time, when Dr. Herman walks into the conversation. Alex tells Dr. Herman that the resident/attending policies were established because of Arizona and Leah. Dr. Herman grins at this development. Arizona tries to get the conversation back on track.
Arizona: Both of you stop, OK? Alex, it’s inappropriate. She’s a resident, I’m her superior, I’m a girl who likes girls… It just puts us both in a very awkward position. You should respect that. Alex: I’m kind of down for whatever happens. Jo: (arrives) Hey! Alex: You need to start putting pants around the house coz Robbins keeps checking out your ass. Arizona: No. No no no no. You don’t need to put…pants on. Your ass..it..fine.
When Arizona runs off, totally embarrassed, Dr. Herman tells Alex, “This is the best day!”
Back in Hillary’s room, she feels terrible about how she’s handled Todd. He’s just so clingy and sensitive that she has been chickening out when things get serious. He’s so “nice” that she feels guilty for not loving him. That day in the park, she had to fake it all the way, even as she tumbled down the stairs.
As Arizona goes through their schedule for the day, Dr. Herman calls her out for being a hypocrite for judging her affair with Graham. “Which resident did you sully?” she asks Arizona. Ha! All of a sudden, Dr. Herman finds Arizona so much more interesting. Arizona admits to the liaison with Leah, and how she cheated on Callie prior to that relationship. Dr. Herman loves hearing about this juicy piece of Arizona’s past. “You’re dirty,” she tells Arizona with a smirk. “You’re a dirty, dirty girl.” Arizona laughs at the statement, and the fanfiction just writes itself.
In the OR with Hillary, Callie and Amelia talk about Hillary’s boyfriend. Amelia gets why someone would rather fall down the stairs than accept a proposal from him, but Callie sees it differently. She sees someone who is devoted and loving. Amelia says that’s all well and good but if that devotion makes someone else want to pretend to pass out, then it’s a problem. Something about this rings true with Callie. “Well that’s why I can’t pick people up anymore, because I don’t know how to put them down.” Her game is off. Amelia confesses her game is gone now too. Back in the day, she could seduce someone with just a flick of her eyes. Drugs gave her a false confidence, and now that she’s sober, it’s all words and insecurities and awkward moments.
After Hillary’s surgery, Maggie can’t take it anymore and demands to know where Meredith was. Meredith shuts down when pounced on, and tells Maggie that if she feels she’s entitled to answers because she watched Mer’s kids then she’s got another thing coming.
Hillary has made it safely out of surgery, but when Todd comes in she tenses up. He once again professes his love and she defaults to her “fainting” spell, rather than dump the guy. So Callie does it for her.
Arizona and Dr. Herman lie together on the stolen couch and Arizona explains that she used to be a lot more free spirited. Now she feels alone, and has no friends outside of her relationship with Callie. It’s isolating. Dr. Herman tells Arizona that she used to spend all of her time trying to impress her former partner, and everyone else. Her illness has freed her in many ways. She suggests that Arizona try shrugging off these ties that bind her too. Arizona tells Dr. Herman go home and rest, but Dr. H stole that couch for a reason. She’s not leaving the hospital until the bitter (or hopefully not bitter) end. Arizona volunteers to stay with her, and Dr. Herman teases that there will be no couch scissoring. This unlikely friendship has really brought out the best in both these women.
At the same time, Callie is loading up on liquid courage and catches a gent’s eye at the bar. When he doesn’t approach her after she flashes him a smile, she says fuck it, and asks him to dance. He says yes, because how could you not?

So Arizona was Todd?
Yep. She was suffocating Callie.
