'I Feel the Earth Move'

Meanwhile, Callie and Maggie are dealing with an older woman who broke her hip during sex. She says things like “razz my berries” and “are you getting laid?” to her doctors, who react with both discomfort and amusement. The “are you getting laid?” question is especially relevant given Maggie’s elevator interaction with Nathan, a dreamy radiologist who later asks her out—only for Maggie to say “no.”

Maggie and Callie end up operating on the older woman, who’s willing to go through a five-hour, somewhat risky surgery so she can get her sex life back. Afterward, the two have a heart-to-heart of sorts about love: Maggie claims she doesn’t date, that she feels like there’s a gap she can’t get over when it comes to dating, that it always gets too awkward. But Callie’s not having it. “That’s a load of crap,” she replies. “Life’s too short to be scared, so screw the gap.” Classic Callie wisdom right there. And somehow, this pep talk works: Maggie later sees Nathan and says “yes” to drinks. Screw the gap.

Is Callie's storyline now only about dating and jumping from person to person? I want more for her than become a serial dater.

Callie's character deserves more than this. This is so S3.

What's Shakin'

PERFECT STRANGERS? | After being trapped briefly by the quake in an elevator with a smiley radiologist named Ethan, Maggie teamed up with Callie to treat a randy 75-year-old who’d injured her replaced hip during sex. Callie wanted to operate so as to restore the vibrant horndog to full flexibility. Maggie was like, “You wanna risk her life so she can get laid?” Uh, yeah! And, regardless of the reason Callie wanted to perform the surgery, the patient still needed it. So there. During the procedure, Torres teased Maggie for going all Upstairs Downstairs on Ethan, rejecting his invitation to go on a date because, as a radiologist, he was “beneath” her. Afterward, Maggie confessed to Callie that the real reason she turned Ethan down was because of a “gap” between her and other people, a distance that she didn’t want to pretend wasn’t there. So “there’s just no point to me saying yes,” she insisted. In response, Callie called BS and encouraged her to conquer her fears. Which, at the hour’s close, she did, changing her no to a yes in the very elevator where she and Ethan had met.

Grey’s Anatomy Recap:

After a few weeks' absence, April (Sarah Drew) is back on the floor, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) are dealing with a very sexually adventurous elderly patient, and Alex (Justin Chambers), Jo and Meredith are treating a group of skiers who were on a lift when the earthquake hit. Meanwhile, Owen (Kevin McKidd) picks up an emergency call from a young girl whose mother is injured.
Turns out the skiing injuries belong to a dysfunctional group who are being forcibly merged together through marriage. "Sometimes adversity can make a family stronger," Meredith - who, at the moment, is choosing medical charts over her husband - lies through her teeth.

A quick Dr. Herman update! Remember her? She's texting Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), but is still blind. I'm guessing this is the last we'll see of that story line ...
Elsewhere in the hospital, Jackson (Jesse Williams) and Ben are working with a patient who wants a breast augmentation (but it's just to please her boyfriend), while Maggie and Callie are arguing over their patient wanting a surgery that will rejuvenate her lady parts, at the possible expense of her heart.

A fringe benefit of Maggie and Callie's patient, on the other hand, is that Maggie gets to run into cute Radiology Ethan (that grin!) twice in one day - and Callie can experience sexual satisfaction vicariously, through one of her patients. Ethan, predictably, asks Maggie out, but she inexplicably turns down his offer.

After a bit of prodding from Callie, Maggie explains that she won't date a radiologist. Callie initially thinks it's an Upstairs/Downstairs (a.k.a. snobbish) thing, but Maggie later confesses that her single status is the result of her never being able to truly connect with someone. "I'm a little lonely, but fine," Maggie admits. This literally summarizes every doctor who has ever set foot in Grey Sloan Memorial, at some point. Callie - who really is all about vicarious dating at this point-- gives her a bit of a pep talk, and Maggie runs out of the room.

I have bee a GA fan for as long as its been on, but recently due to other new conflicts and my feeling that GA is not really like the GA of days gone by. No Calzona. MerDer lives in different worlds. Too much Bailey, Webber and his spawn...
