TIME: Their meeting (potentially) SETTING: Inside the court, somewhere away from the main bustle. Apollo: Olivier D'Grey, right? Apollo. *introduces himself, extending a hand* I don't believe we've had the chance to properly meet. Although your reputation precedes you. Olivier: *looking up and taking the proffered hands* Does it? *grins* And what does my reputation say about me, Apollo? Apollo: It says you're the one to see about procuring rare items. Olivier: Hmm. *looking him up with a grin* Is that all it says? How disappointing; you're here on business. Apollo: I never said I was *just* here on business. But I wouldn't mind starting there. Olivier: *nods and drops his hand into his back pocket* What kind of thing are you looking for? 'Rare' is...after all, intentionally vague. Apollo: Actually, there's an amulet I've been trying to track down. Silver, Greek in origin. Cursed. Come across anything like it? Olivier: I can check. *He leans back against the wall, tilting his head.* Cursed, though, that can cost extra. Apollo: I've got some pieces in my collection I might be willing to trade for it. But if that's not satisfactory... *grins* I'm sure we could work out some other arrangement. Olivier: *Ah, see, now he was speaking the language Olivier appreciated: innuendo and a hint of a shady deal?* Oh yeah? What did you have in mind? Apollo: that depends on what you'd want from me, of course. Olivier: How can I know that when I know so little of you? *with an eyebrow popping up as he turns the, predictable knife over in his pocket, letting a second pass* Maybe all your artifacts are cursed. Apollo: *leans back against the wall casually,* you'll just have to inspect them, then. Olivier: *after a small laugh* What did you say your name was again? |

Oli/Apollo: Second Meeting Olivier: You know, when you said you'd come back to inspect the merchandise, *grinning* this wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Apollo: *smirks* So you've been thinking about me. What -did- you have in mind? Olivier: *lounging in some chair and ...Sigh, signalling a servant to pour -two- drinks, then* I would have thought that had been obvious for someone with your ... talents. Apollo: Maybe it is. But maybe I want you to say it anyways. *casually examines the gems as he talks, picking them and getting a feel for their energy. He's distracted for a moment by a cut of amber whose magical properties hummed happily in tune with his own energy* You know, in Greece they used to say amber was created when the rays of the sun were congealed in the sea. Olivier: *tiny tsk* You'll have to ask me nicely. *Watching the man, not the gems, even if he was well aware of the light magical hum emanating forth. Grinning as he's handed his drink,* Did they? You read that in a book? *He's half teasing, half...Curious, genuinely.* Apollo: I did ask you nicely, *he points out, then takes the drink from the servant and thanks him for it. Sips the drink while continuing to look at the gem in his other hand* not quite. My family was originally from Greece. Things like that get passed down. Olivier: Mm, perhaps I just am used to being the one asking for elaboration. *shrugs as he takes a sip* Tactilly, that is, I don't use words when gestures would suffice. *And he indicates the glass he's holding...Like saying that was a gesture. Then, tilting his head.* Greece? You're a long way from home. Apollo: That doesn't surprise me. Lots of people at Court seem to defer to you. And there's always the philosophy that actions do speak louder. *nods at the gesture, sipping his own drink in return* I left there a long time ago. I don't even really miss it. Is your family from Yei Tir? Olivier: *he laughs as he nods, 'modestly' accepting that fact as he adds,* They aren't all as unintelligent as you would think. Despite their very best impression. *Swirls drink* A long time ago, some were from Italy, but we settled here generations back. How long ago did you leave? Apollo: They really could've fooled me. *shrugs and puts the amber down, picking up a citrine instead, then immediately putting it down again* Italy, interesting. I was there for a little before I came here. *muses* Kind of sad what happened to it after the Roman Empire fell. Have you ever been? *pauses for a moment while he figures out a way to answer the question honestly* A bit over 10 years ago. Feels like centuries. Olivier: Citrine less to your taste than captured sunlight? *...With a small laugh* You say that like you were there before the Empire fell. Regardless, *he shhhs*, don't tell them that. My family is Roman itself, and I have been - once or twice. My brother spent quite a lot of time there. Apollo: its not that. I usually like citrine, but this one's cursed. Won't do anyone any good unless they were the one who cursed it. *laughs* I think anyone would be able to guess on that point. Well, perhaps not the country's current population. Did you like it there? Olivier: *delighted he noticed, then waves it off as he points out,* Aw, I wouldn't have let it hurt you. *He winks* But I did. I'd like to go back, actually.
