Kenshi, sensing her nostalgia, hugged Aribeth gently, asking simply, "You okay?"

"Just... remembering," the paladin replied, quietly. "I miss my old home. I haven't seen it - Neverwinter - at all since I died... even the short time I was back in my world, I didn't get to visit my old home. And this place reminds me so much of it...." She smiled slightly, and wrapped an arm around the ninja's waist. "And you already knew all that, didn't you?" She hugged him once more, then motioned with her other arm towards the grove. "Shall we then...?"

{*blinks* Why do people always think Kenshi is either a ninja or a samurai? Is it because of the katana?}

"You could go visit it you know," Kenshi said softly, putting his arm around Ari and holding her close, "I know it's part of this 'Verse now."

Kenshi walked with her towards the grove, holding the paladin close. One day, he hoped, she'd be able to understand him as much as he understood her. Of course, Aribeth would have to meet his daughter before that happened. Kenshi'd have to tell her a lot of things he'd never told anyone as well. He held her close, not wanting to part from her yet, and continued walking, waiting for her reply.

[Not familiar enough with MK... so I'm just kind of guessing?]

Aribeth allowed herself to be led, taking in the vast beauty of the grove as she silently walked at Kenshi's side. She couldn't tell yet what Kenshi was thinking, but she could tell he was deep in thought. She decided not to disturb him, instead focusing her attention on the beauty around her and allowing the swordsman to guide her along the path; she walked slowly, taking everything in, not in much of a hurry to arrive at their destination... not just yet.

{It's alright. I'm getting used to it XD. His official title in MK is rogue swordsman though. And considering both ninja and samurai are titles in MK, I guess he's neither one.}

"Ari, I have to know if something will bother you before we allow our relationship to go any further," Kenshi said softly.

The swordsman didn't explain right away. Aribeth got the feeling Kenshi was mulling over in his mind how to explain it exactly. Finally she just felt him sigh, as if giving in with a decision.

"I have another woman who is very important in my life. One I hug, and hold, and kiss quite a bit when I'm around her," Kenshi could feel Aribeth's muscles tense up, but instead of loosening his grip around her, he held her closer, "I died because I was looking for a way to help her out of her fate. Of course, I feel you would do the same for your daughter. I need to know it is alright with you that I have a daughter, and that I will not abondon her for anyone."

At first, Aribeth was a bit stunned, but as the explanation became more accurately revealed she visibly relaxed. "I would expect no less," she replied firmly, smiling gently as the tenseness faded from her body. "I should be the one asking you if your daughter would be willing to share you with me. She was here first, after all." The paladin could help but laugh slightly, and shook her head slightly towards Kenshi. "No, it is not a problem with me."

"Alright then," Kenshi said with a gentle smile, "You can ask her when she comes home. That may be a little while yet, but she will come home. Of course, she's going to love you. Anyone who can make me fall in love, she's going to adore. It's just how she is."

Aribeth nodded slightly and resumed walking, still taking in the sights around her. After a few moments though she turned back to the swordsman. "If you do not mind me asking... what is her name?" She wasn't sure why, but the sudden revelation that Kenshi had family now made Aribeth inexplicably curious about the man. She still knew very little of him, although she had a feeling she knew far, far more than most; questions now filled her mind like a flood, and it took quite a bit of restraint to not begin asking them all... even though she knew Kenshi could hear them anyway.

"Tifa Lockheart... Though for now she is known as Xitana Lostheart," Kenshi's voice sounded grim about the last part, and she noticed that he flexed his free hand slightly, "She was turned into a Nobody, someone without the ability to feel any positive emotions, sometime ago, and only recently resurfaced. Her memories were wiped so she doesn't remember me, or anything but her past before the Multiverse...."

Aribeth frowned, slightly dismayed at the revelation. She could tell it bothered Kenshi merely to think about it, much less speak of it... it was all she could do to lay a hand on his shoulder as he spoke. She gave him a few moments of silence once he finished, then pressed her hand into his. "I swear by every vow I have ever made, I will do everything in my power to help you save her," the paladin promised, looking Kenshi straight into his sightless-yet-allseeing eyes.

Kenshi smiled lovingly at the paladin, his blind eyes meeting her's, and for a moment just stared at her. Beneath that smile, behind those eyes, Aribeth could sense a slightly pained feeling as well. A damp field of sadness that kept him from fulling enjoying the joy he felt at being with her. Suddenly the swordsman hugged her tight to him.

"Thank you Ari, you're already helping more than you know," the blind man whispered in her ear.

He was silent for a moment. His arms loosened around the paladin, and he leaned back slightly so he could see her face while still holding her in his arms. He smiled, a calm, gentle smile. A mainly happy smile, with the slightest drop of sadness in it.

"Well little paladin, I can see that you have more passionate, burning questions forming inside your mind," he stated with a soft chuckle, "Go ahead and ask. I don't mind. You might as well know the man you seem to be falling in love with."

Aribeth blushed scarlet once more and resumed walking at Kenshi's side as she spoke again. "Well... I suppose the basics should come first. Where did you come from... what world, if I've gotten everything straight about how I arrived here, was your home?" It took all her restraint not to blurt out all the questions at once; she knew doing so would make them more difficult to answer, but her eagerness still attempted to spill them out.

"Earthrealm is where I come from. Evidenly, there are several different forms of my world throughout the different timelines and universes though, because other people are from Earth, which is evidently the same place, with different rules, and its own different timeline," Kenshi replied, chuckling at Ari's enthusiasm, still holding her hand as they walked along the edge of the pond, now shaded from the sun by many of the large trees around them, "Let it all spill little paladin. I can answer multiple questions at once."

The scarlet flush only worsened. "Well then...."

She cleared her throat in an attempt to slow herself down - a rather unnecessary action for a spirit - then continued. "Did you have any other family there? What happened to them?"

Kenshi chuckled softly, "No, no family. My parents died when I was a teenager. I made my living by fighting in tournaments, and arenas. Became one of the best swordsmen in the world supposedly. Due to the tournaments, my training, and various other things, like becoming blind, I haven't had time for much of a love life. That, and before I became blind, I was extremely vain, and that tends to put women off."

Aribeth couldn't help but smirk. This didn't sound at all like the Kenshi she'd met... but then again, people changed. She herself knew that as well as anyone.

"If you don't mind me asking, how did that happen?"

Kenshi let out a soft sigh, chuckling again, "Well, back when I was young, vain, and stupid, a man approached me about a magical sword that would compliment my fighting skills. This katana actually, Fukyuu Senjin."

Kenshi indicated the katana on his back, which let out a soft, red pulse at hearing its name.

"He said the sword could only be touched by a descendant of my ancestors. I figured it was worth a shot, and that this old man could never hurt me anyways," Kenshi grimaced, "Remember, I was very vain then. So he led me to an underground tomb. There was the sword, gaurding what appeared to be a well of some sort. As I took the katana though, everything went wrong. My ancestor's spirits protected the sword even in death, and their power cursed me, causing my blindness. The old man turned out to be an evil sorceror known as Shang Tsung, and he consumed the souls, increasing his powers, and leaving me to die. Luckily, I escaped."

Kenshi grinned at this, and the sword on his back let out another soft red pulse, almost making the blade seem to be made of red metal.

The paladin nodded in understanding; she had experienced something similar - the Source Stone of the Old Ones, Morag's place of self-imposed exile and immortality, protected not by ancient spirits but rather by her poison, which had soon become known as the Plague of Neverwinter.

"And you learned," she added, smiling slightly. She walked a few more steps in silence before presenting her next question. "How long has it been since you arrived in the Multiverse, then?"

"About a year," Kenshi replied softly, "I appeared here not long after Shang Tsung, disguised as Ermac, a friend of mine who's really dozens of souls rolled into one body, and is the one that awakened my telekinesis, and blindsight, struck me down on Blaze's pyramid."

Taking Aribeth's hand in his, Kenshi began wrapped it with his blindfold, his face calm, and cheerful. Fukyuu Senjin let out a soft pulse, and Kenshi chuckled.

"Fukyuu evidently has a perverse mind at times," Kenshi chuckled, "He wants to know if you plan on passing along my heritage. Don't worry about it, I told him to keep quiet, and to quit being rude."

Aribeth blushed a little bit more, then grinned. "I think you need to remind your sword that we are both on the wrong side of Kelemvor's bar for that." After a moment's pause, she finally thought it would be prudent to explain. "Kelemvor is the Judge of the Dead in my world."

Another thought suddenly rose in her mind. "Does your world even have gods? What are they like?"
