The need of Psoriasis therapy must be acknowledged as this is a debilitating and recurrent disease that can render the patient emotionally, psychologically and physically inactive. By the term ‘inactive’ it does not mean that there is muscular or bone injury but owing to the irritation and the discomfort caused due to the symptoms and manifestations, a patient affected with psoriasis will be under strain and will seek any type of medication to ease the symptoms and pursue all possible avenues in medical science to get rid of the disease. The symptoms of the disease are reddish or white pustules accompanied with irritation of the skin and dryness with scaly flaking of the skin. For a susceptible patient it is advised that the moisture of the skin is retained and this helps to prevent the skin from drying. According to Ayurveda, psoriasis occurs as a result of the accumulated toxins in various parts of the body and therefore during the course of the treatment the patient has to undergo a series of internal purification procedures wherein the body is cleansed internally making it receptive for the subsequent medicines applied and given as medical concoctions. The mode of treatment and the medicines used differ with each patient because what may seem effective for one patient may have no effect at all on another patient. Likewise, natural remedial measures like are also found to be effective in reducing the chance of recurring symptoms and eliminating the progression of the disease. |
