Hey TK. I finished a bit of that game I was talking about. ^_^

It's still very embryonic, and I'm open to changing absolutely anything you want to, from the sprites to the scripts.

Uh...I'm not sure if this download will work or not. I've never tried downloading to rapidshare before, so just tell me if it works I guess.

>Link<

After you get to the part with Henzarlle, the game will crash. I haven't worked on anything after that, so just close the window at that part.

Oh, btw, don't use Ashelin's summon ability, cause that crashes the game too for some reason.

RGSS102E.dll could not be found :(

I'll try to google that file and DL it.

But I did look through all the files and I have some praise

First of all, the Genie sprite is the actual sprite from LoZ:Link's Awakening the boss of Bottle Grotto. The EXACT inspiration and intended description I had in mind when I thought of the character.

the Horadric Wander/Marius' sprite is also perfect.

And Henzarlles is also very "Paladin" like.

Now if I could only play it

Well I installed something with a Japanese install prompt it works now

Found a glitch on the first play through, it wouldn't let me choose "yes" for when Ashelin is asked if she is all packed. Ended there. I also lost the battle my first try >.>

Second play through i was more observant, I like the throwback "I'll leave this here, I was never really good at Divination anyway." I won the first battle my second try.

Figured out the glitch. If you equip the cotton robe, the "yes" is disabled. But only when it is equipped.

My only criticism, battles. They're pretty hard. Especially those blue birds. They do just as much damage as Ashelin does and they can cast water. That just did mean things. I also noticed when i fought the wolves my heal did 80-90 but all other times it was much higher and that seemed to be the normal.

Seriously though it's awesome. Its certainly an incentive for me to keep writing a story for it, even if the RP moves at a slow pace. At least something epic will come of it.

Yeah, I wasn't really paying too much attention to the battles. The system is really frustrating. I'll work on it.
I was too busy trying to work out all the classes and things. I wasn't sure what kind of powers to give Guile as a necromancer.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that if you equip the items, it doesn't work. Theres also a glitch where if you use the mana crystal before leaving, the door won't open. Will work on it.

What do you think about the character/background graphics? Do you think anything looks like it needs to be changed? (excluding the battleback, I know that got all screwed up.)

Try a variable for the door.

Oh, I didn't know variables were constant through all maps. That worked out nicely. Thanks Keshi. ^^

Whoo! Fixed the Genie! :D
Now all I have to do is finish scripting the battle. I already started mapping out Lothia, though I hope I can find a better tileset to use sometime in the future.

I have a long list of skills you could give Guile but at the same time I don't know what the game engine can handle. I'm seriously considering studying and experimenting with it just so I can give you realistic advise and suggestions.

But as for graphics I can't complain. I'm still kinda in awe at the fact its made and playable. If you make a horrible error or something I'll point in the right direction but remember. It may be based off my story, its still your game and I'm not gunna tell you how to make it.

Besides I think it's more important to make it, you can always swap the image used later on right?

And now for a true story. I sat in my chair looking at my all my games. I decided I wanted to play an RPG but couldn't decided and instead came here to see if there was more of the Mortal Realm to play. I see potential awesomeness for this.

The sky's pretty much the limit with abilities. The system is extremely malleable, but I'm still learning, so I get tripped up pretty easily. Skills are no problem though. Go ahead and tell me some, and I'll put them in there for next update. I got up to where they head for the terminal. I've got it all mapped out except for the airship. I can't find a good sprite.
Yeah, I guess you're right about the graphics thing. All the chipsets are swappable, so I can replace them later.

Oh, and any ideas for that mana crystal? I was going to make it just an item that gives you an extra level, but I feel like it should be something a little more significant. It doesn't even have to be a mana crystal actually. It was just sort of the first thing I thought of.

I'm a fan of plot devices/characters/etc that are introduced very early on and have seemingly no meaning of use until later, so most of my ideas would follow suit for the mana crystal. Perhaps later it can be activated to give access to a new summon (Like Diablos in FFVIII or something)

~~

Well the reason I was asking about the skills is Guile, being a Necromancer is in a way a summoner as well. Ashelin's would be much more powerful but, "raise skeletal warrior" is a pretty stable move when it comes to Necromancers. It would be pretty cool if it could be scripted that he can summon a skeleton which would appear as an uncontrollable (Or controllable, I guess) character on the heros side of a battle. It wouldn't have the highest attack/defense. The problem is, that seems like the a ridiculously hard thing to make. So maybe the skill would instead just do the animation of a skeletal warrior and do physical damage.

Well for less complex skills that Guile could start off with (though I think they should be disabled for the first battle since its against Lowers)

Amplify Damage- Affects Single target
Lowers Defense, Hero attacks do more damage

Bone Armor -
Raises Def/ Prevents the first # of physical Damage
Think protect or something.

Spirit Strike-
Single Target Non-elemental magic damage
